Global Shortage in Semiconductors Increases
"Global shortage in computer chips reaches crisis point. And i really wish that they would just break more into what's actually going on behind the scenes. I get it maybe to some extent. We might not actually know what's going on. But let's hop on into the articles. He what's up. Consumers are facing price rises and shortages of products from. Tv's mobile phones to cars and game consoles as a global shortage in. Semiconductors grows shortage in chips. The brain with an electronic device in the world has been steadily worsening since last year now. Initially the problem was only temporarily in supplies. Factories shut down when the pandemic i hit however although production is back to normal a new surge in demand driven by changing habits fueled by the pandemic means that now is reaching a crisis point car manufacturers investing in tech heavy electric vehicles. Which is okay. I'm just going to make a point to some extent stupid. Gopher hybrid the boom in sales of tv's in home computers launch new game consoles five g. Mobile phones have all driven demand. So we know that demand has been going on an increase to like crazy stupid level that we haven't seen before even a mighty apple a two trillion dollar company in the world's biggest buyer of semiconductors spending fifty eight billion annually was forced to delay the launch of much hyped iphone twelve by two months last year due to the shortage in one of the reasons. Chips are everything says neal camping media in tech analyst at mehrabad. While chip shortage looks set to persist for some time yet. It up the two years to get complex semiconductor production factories up and running and manufacturers are in process of significantly raising prices for the second time in less than a year is no sign of supply catching upper demand decreasing while prices are rising across the chain so economically. What does this mean means. Less supply obviously unable to meet demand and prices. Go up because of it. Because that's kind of the only counterbalance that you have to be able to balance everything taken an economics course at the basic level. How things work. So what exactly is going on. It could be that. There aren't enough factories able to produce enough of a supply of semiconductors. One thing i'm wondering though is are there enough materials to be able to construct it. I mean semiconductors aren't really the easiest to make their actually quite complex quite exact in its production of it not to mention you also need to have trained individuals who know how to do it. Do it well Which is a limited supply of as

Secrets Of A Grand Prix Photographer, Bahrain Testing Day 2
"To go with today's action i'm joined by grand prix alex kalinowka and a special guest photography. Extraordinaire stephen t. To get his perspective from the front line. Stephen thank you so much for joining us today. it's been a very busy couple of days and bahrain How is the great nice to be here. Thank you for inviting me. Yeah it's been been okay at as you said. The weather was was fit. Weirder than we expected. I think everyone thought we were gonna come here. Very benign and a ball. They were able to really halt yesterday. And and we have to sandstorms but amazingly I think the amazing thing was caused the often is still managed to get to the time that they did a landau for about a day. That saying how amazed there was that you manage to get such a such a quick time in and he said that he thinks the because the track is Has got such a. It's a very rough track very wraps up. He seems to think that maybe the oldest a very very fine sand that was being blown around. What's going into the cracks and wasn't really effective in sumatra. 'cause they said it looks a lot worse. The cheap felt basically. So that's quite interesting. So how was that from your perspective because obviously it was very very sandy on friday. A love wins. And when you get bahrain as well you have to deal with the conditions of going from light to dark as a photographer. How does that change things. Foyer day these tests have been quite long. There's actually quite nice to have the dnc the otherwise everything will be a little bit one dimensional. You'd be reasonably nice light in the morning. He's got reasonably life nights. Layoffs at all or you should But it's nice. It's nice to have the opportunities to the lives as well. I'm here with them choosing mclaren so we're only allowed to even be on track or in team garage if you work and they see what folded at one team so we could allow full overseeing the garage then all out and circuit two very separate team says guys are on track. Spend the whole weekend on track guys in the in the cowards and spend the whole weekend in that garage is but so so it. It's quite nice to have to the you know the the change of life because as soon as the lights come on you can stop doing different things etcetera so It otherwise it would be very very long day on a bit. One dimensional when you set up for the weekends. You and the other talkers. Guts bahrain for the weekend diesel to come together make list of like the shots you want to get or is it very much A little bit more fluid than that shopping list is kind of creative. I in a client whether it be working might multiple dot com or ulcers. Full repay racing. We were We we put them yesterday. They they went suppress Last night basically. So they needed. They needed five parades and And pictures of every car. The team sponsors. We were all have big shopping list of stuff they need so it's very much driven by but yet you're absolutely right we do. It's around a on a breakdown. Who can do an five of the days. The best time to get the shot get shot there is a lot of discussion about basically and obviously in preseason testing updates as well which is quite important factor for editorially and i guess for you guys this photographer how do you kind of with that kind of aspects of preseason testing as well. What about talk of his mom. He's tossed with looking for that stuff and shoots just basically shoots stuff on circuit tries to get angles but my show walser. What the what. The teams are doing differently. So that's that's that's very much role this year because there's no active free actress to the line. I know access to other people's got the one working working working in it's it's very sham an od on the oneal and tracks Soup scenario about. He's been with this gopher nisa kind of see stuff so it's kind of interesting to hear it from especially within the time currently in but you know you've been you've been at the track stephen and you've been watching things happens. There been anything that's kind of caught your eye for the past couple of days. I mean just the number of laps they've been doing is one thing. Obviously we all know the calls on all the other they. They social differences to the merrill basically the same as last year. So somebody's been doing testing for chip more years than cats. Cats are remember One of the features of testing nor in especially you know going back a few years was the cause would sometimes do you know first day of testing four or five laps and spend the rest of the time in the couch being being get the updates in an engineer stunning scratching their heads over a various positive. But they've just been they've been pretty pretty now and they just been going round and round around so i think good other than that frustration for us i suppose The the there's been a lot flow is on the cars and And that's not something that Clients we go out to us basically because that gives away lots of secrets. So those those those locks have to be Speeches copy used from the laps. That's happening on and then hopefully they've been using the the arrow gates as well and a lot so That this There's been quite a lot of. Let's be quite a lot of that going on the last two days especially in the
NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works
"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.
Why Kendall Jenner's tequila is being criticized
"Let's move onto kendall jenner and her tequila. Yes yes that's the man that's the on. Let me see. Let me see if i got this tweet. The tweet basically said that went viral was on a meeting. My laptop jenner's tequila is called eight. One eight directs. So yeah so. The streets said kendall jenner starting to heal brand with zero knowledge of on mexican culture and colony eight when they think is gentrification the eight one eight does not claim calabasas. What about those smaller family owned mexican tequila scholar brands. They deserve the hype. And so now the tweet that went viral. That i did see. So the issue is the fact that she's naming the eight. She's really not funny when she's from calabasas which is like the rich part of the when he was also probably lived in. Encino on again is the rich part of the day when eight valley super super valley. But it's been terrible of our above. There is a little bit different situation financially. Ya but see years you bring up a good point. Let the tweet said. Why don't we give the attention to the mom and pop brands. And that's so true like white. Why don't we warming because we like what we like to think. A companies have done better job making better tequila branding. It better But do i am. I offended as a mexican offended. That kendall is starting to a meal chettle speaking. I'm not offended. You gotta look at it like this to. I'm sure the people producing the la are from cadiz. Go so right. Yeah so that in a way she's generating jobs down in mexico more. Holly i mean it's taken from the mexican heritage but she's also financially given given to the people in a way i mean they're working for but you look at george clooney right. What does he cuss amigos. First of all people love to hate the card ashes number one number two eight one eight probably pissed people off so you know that's the thing that she has some strikes against her and that's what's helping. You would also sucks though. I'll say this. I don't think people were coming at the rock. They coming at george kalonzo weather coming at for brand only female. That's another way that. I i see what you're saying. I see why it within a female though. It's the cardiac. I think more than right leslie. I am dj for them. And i know you're going to play you know you're going to be polite here. But other people love to hate on them right. Oh yeah absolutely. Like they have to really. It's like they're walking on eggshells almost the questions. They just have to be very careful. Which is why i think they should have probably thought of the name a little bit more. You know but then again who's to say like like you said jeff. They grew up in the eight one eight. It wasn't. It wasn't the hoodie way. But it was still the eight one eight personally. I don't have a problem with it. I would have done more research on the name and she could've done like all the sisters together like you know named it. Four sisters done that in spanish lot. Cut akilah yeah. I like that would have been cool. I hope that when she campaigns for this tech you can talk when she campaigns for this tequila. I hope that she incorporates. The real eight one eight campaign you know like like panorama city point did all those cities and so more in san fernando. Panorama city pajama friggin. A north hollywood is where i was born so like i just really really hope that that she she you know incorporates the actual culture the actual mexican culture and eight when he culture in her campaign by the way the keillor's produced by gopher essay are the seven distillery. And how these again. She's providing jobs in a way. And and and i guess taking from us as mexicans culture right but i tequila that grew and kendall at you need some models for your camp pay the cruise show including you. Got the crucial baby girl. Birding with Dr Meredith Williams
"Berta. Volt from more than one. Hundred and fifty million years ago and then explosively diversified culminating in more than ten thousand species distributed worldwide. Today are human. Relationship to beds is complex to seen as spirit messengers of the gods and at the same time. We took the wild red jungle fowl. From india and selectively bred into domesticated chickens the now farmed in cages feathers have been used for thousands of years and indigenous headpieces and at the same time but has like parrots and parakeets a kept as pets bird poop called guana was used as the first fertilize of modern agriculture. And charles darwin study of galapagos finches was to the formulation of evolution. Buds are all around us. We are closer to bed than any other wild animals birds. I literally and figuratively are canaries in the coal mine. Their wellbeing is our wellbeing threats to buds range from habitat loss including logging climate change industrial farming with pesticides invasive species and even cats. These will had a devastating impact on the bird populations of the us and canada. Which in just the last fifty years have declined by. Three billion birds danton insane. Thirty percent of all birds gone. Three billion pez of wings have vanished ever across our continent from sea to shining sea. Luckily birds have strong allies in their corner. There an estimated sixty million active bird watches in the us alone and with the pandemic shutting down so much of our country. We have flocking to bird watching like never before everything from bird feeders. To binoculars have been in short supply and this year the birding app e bird collected more sightings in a single day the was admitted during the first two and a half years of the apps existence. I must admit coming late to the bird-watching pardee. But thanks to dr meredith williams. That's about to change. I'm lucky enough to work with meredith every day in her role. Running one of the most important and complex agencies in california governor. The department of toxic substance control. Dr williams received two undergraduate degree from yale and a doctorate in physics from north carolina. State university meredith then worked and silicon valley fortune. Five hundred companies in the technology consumer product and chemical sectors meredith left the private sector to follow her passion for wetlands and birds and led the san francisco estuary institute as we'll hear. Meredith journey is about so much more than her resume. Meredith nine meet apt get ready for my maiden watching invention merit so we're about to go hopefully bed watching what. What do we need to bring with us while like what. What's what's in the bird watching backpack almost nothing. Which is great binoculars. Of course are your starting point. So i hope you have some inaugurals. I know you were looking for some recently. You gave me some good advice. But i get any but we all kind of professional but what just like you would have an extra pair. Do thought so. It's in the office but we could stop on the way out of town. Not of that sound. No we should. We should yeah. You just kind of out now. Okay okay so you got the binoculars. How do you if you're starting out. It's surprising how good have gotten very affordable these days so i mean it's still a lot to invest but ask a bird watcher. They might have an extra pair. That's the first place you might wanna try like them. What do you well. first of. All there are lots of different kinds of birdwatchers in terms of some people. Want to count every burden get really long list. And they track every single birthday they see. It's about the numbers of the that very unique bird and they chase vagrant birds that fly in unusually and they're rushing off to see that bird so there those kind of bird watchers I'm a bird watcher. Just watch one bird for a long time. I liked bird behavior. just i'm just fascinated by them. And i think they're beautiful so i could just end up watching one bird for for quite a while you can just take it. In at whatever level you want in terms of the variety birds that you could see and how you would just experience them and enjoy them. So and i think the only way to find that out is to bert. Watch a little and see what grabs you What you do sounds really peaceful. The first thing that sounds the first thing sounds more. Like in england as a whole breed of people go train spotters and i always kind of identified them with bird watchers. Like it's really about. How many things. You've you've been able to capture and less about the bird the thing that you'll doing just sounds like being a peaceful will watching another animal even the people who are energized. That way unless they're doing a big day which would be a day when they map it out to see as many birds as they can. In a single day they're not necessarily rushing around even they are going to have moments of really enjoying a bird and even somebody like me chased around golden gate park looking for a rare warbler. That's very rarely in san francisco. There's an amiability amongst birdwatchers is really camaraderie. People are so nice. There's always somebody better in terms of being a better bird watcher. Meaning they either can identify birds better or you know they just have a lot of experience for the a little bit about. The ecology and people are so happy to share their information. That it's really wonderful. That's one of the things i like about it. And it tends to be every now and then you get into group and there'll be somebody who's a little loud but by and large the the folks are really kind of it's easy to get in a groove with with birdwatchers and settled and gopher along stroll and see some great birds. But what's there everywhere that it's a it's a big i mean like it huge movement and it's growing apparently it's one of the fastest growing outdoor activities. There is it's it is just kind of crazy places where i been going for ten years and cues to be just me and five or six friends maybe and now parking lot and i think the pandemic has made it even more so where a lot of people. That's how they wanna get outdoors or they've they've just kind of discovering it because they know it is one of the only ways to be outdoors so i think it's going to continue to grow which i think is great because then more people are connected to the natural world which obviously makes them care about it more. How did you get into meredith like what. What was your journey into bed watching. I mean i liked birds always in the yard growing up in ohio. You know the robbins and the blue jays. There was a hill in town. And i used to ride my bike up in the hill early in the morning and i would always see birdwatchers and i said when i'm old air quotes. I'm going to bird watch. And i kind of that seed was planted but i didn't really bird-watching until my three say in my thirties. I started volunteering for the san francisco. Bay national wildlife refuges. That you know are on the perimeter of the bay. You know them well getting restored a lot of them Back to title harsh. And i when i volunteered i would be doing everything from pulling out. Invasive plants to building shells but there are always birds around and i just became more and more and more fascinated with the birds invested in binoculars and just started creeping in. You join the audubon society and suddenly you're getting news about different outings and the next thing you know you're you're pretty far in foreign now. I'm foreign. I'm not pretty far and have taken a couple bird vacations. Which i think says that. I'm pretty far in. But what do those entail. The longest trip i took was to go to brazil to the pantanal. Which is a very large wetland like the mecca of bud watching their many mecca. It is a mecca over the course of two weeks. We just went out every morning. We get up before sunrise. Be moving by six o'clock at the latest. Usually more like five thirty and we went to a place that's called the parrot crater a giant sinkhole. And it's all a lot of parents live down in the sinkhole. And so you look down. A new parrots lying around in a simple it was tremendous and we ended up seen two hundred different species of birds there along with some giant giant eaters river otter is and it was quite a trip but the birds were spectacular.

The joy of taking out the trash
"You might not know this just from looking at me by mike. Guess it from smelling me. Why are my favorite things to do. Is take out the trash. It's the laziest way to technically. Pare down your possessions. Because the one thing you can never do enough of in a small new york city apartment like mine is get rid of stuff. The stuff that are modern consumerist carbon powered culture makes us by endlessly and often for no reason. Guingona people never heard either roommate's family members that old lady who's been in your living room for weeks who is she anyway. No squatters allowed care if you're a ghost also not to brag but i've been micro decluttering since before. Marie kondo got big. In fact i've cut out your step of picking things up figuring out whether they spark join me because they already know what sparks. Join me throwing out trash. What kinda trash. Well i'll give you a clue. It starts with an ends with their. That's right it's a lotta hair. Don't try and picture how much you'll feel sick. And if you don't feel sick you haven't pictured enough. I shed like an instagram influencer. Sheepdog was decided for is the only thing holding her career back. We're all trying to reduce our carbon footprints and consumption so by throwing out trash. I also naturally mean recycling. And composting i to do both. In fact i once carried a take takeout container across half the city just to put in the right bin. Where's my inspiring bio-pic but then i learned recycling frequently isn't working even if we all separate out glass cans and cardboard a lot of stuff doesn't neatly fit into those categories paper envelopes lined with bubble. Wrap can't be recycled pizza. Boxes with grease stains can't be recycled memory from seventh grade. When i who am i kidding. All of seven gray can't be recycled. There's even a term for it aspirational recycling. at first. I thought that if you went to spin class last week so it should count for this week. To china. Used to import a lot of. Us's recyclables but they stopped accepting foreign garbage in two thousand eighteen as part of a pollution ban. Whatever happened to one countries. Trashes another country's treasure now a lot of us recycling goes straight to landfills the epa. Says that only ten percent of plastic has ever been recycled. Not that this is about me but this balloons my anxiety the size of the giant pacific garbage patch. We out in the ocean where we'll all eventually gopher next destination wedding. So if you're american how and your political representatives to work on this recycling issue and try to create less waste overall by reusing materials. Your stuff. I've been reusing in my life. Plastic bags salsa jars and old fights with my boyfriend. Now the next time i have to throw throughout the trash i can confidently ask. Hey can i use this loose ball of hair again. And you know what i probably can. In fact i'm gonna give it to that. All goes lady as a going away present. Thank you
Keys to Better Product Marketing
"Of the things that they you thought. You had some great insights. And i think this is really interesting because it is a challenge especially the bigger the organization is is once you've got you know changes in messaging strategy for a product. How do you get that. Messaging implemented throughout the whole funnel. You know like. It's easy to change the website But how does how do you get that way. Down to the sales team so one of the interesting things about product marketing. And if you ask. People who've been around product mark does and you say what this marketing do right. One of the first things that comes out of people smile seems like djing positioning and this is great and one of the key areas of weakness. Say in a lot of product is out there and myself included. Because i've made a mistake many times early. My career is creating messaging positioning. That is not used by the rest of the company so if no one uses it like did you actually do anything. one of those things right And happens because in many cases We might be just isolated from what is happening outside of the company and what is happening our own departments so we create is great messaging and positioning gopher zach size when he writes something and we have the document right and we share the document and we hope that people are going to read the document. And they're gonna own. I love and i'm gonna apply i'm gonna use it right away. That's actually not the reality like no one wants to read your documents. Say yes. i'm going to do that. So the art to product. Marketing is not coming up with messaging and positioning. That is is the best ever. But he's actually helping your entire company adopt the right messaging and positioning right so as a product marketer you gotta work with such as your sales counterparts. You've got to work with people and support. You gotta work with people in the marketing team. And you got to work with the ceos engineers. Everyone is working around the same message. the the the fundamentals. Daniel start seeing The reaction where people started adopting that the bass rolled out a revamped messaging and positioning the been far off. They actually started from the top with the ceo was always talking about that new direction or the story or how positioning it and once you have the seals executives talking about it and once you have that right that everyone is okay. This is for real. Yes that's why we have this on the website right. So that's one of the elements of having like that top down approach. Now there's a corollary to that which is if the message does not work when you're in front of a customer right. It doesn't matter what the ceo says right is not gonna work. So that's why you gotta work both ways. There's a top down and bottom of approach and For people who are trying to go through this process day. I'd say the best starting point for creating the messaging is actually trying that yourself with a customer so it could be customer devise reports it could be What enough to do is just like sitting down with sales reps and going on sales calls and trying to message out yourself right and is almost like looking at it from a product launch perspective. You gotta do like an early access program or a beta program. Whatever you're calling it you're gonna try message tests it out. See how that works. And you're gonna find out at some things are good. Some things are not good comeback. And dan when you're having those conversations with the co with the ceos you can talk to them and say well. I've sat through like fifteen fifty sales skulls and this is what happened rallies. Now just like well. Why does this resonate. Why do we think this is great. Is it has. It actually has lex right so it's really putting together like that. COVID-19 cases hit 1st Caribbean cruise since pandemic
"Welcome back to pass money. Check out the cruise lines sinking. Today's session and there could be some new trouble on the high seas. You're looking at pictures of the seadream. One it is the first cruise ship to set sail and the caribbean pandemic began. A passenger on board reportedly infected with the coronavirus. It left barbados. Saturday carrying fifty three people. Nbc's kerry sanders spoke with one of those passengers about safety measures. The ship was taking to prevent an outbreak every passenger and to be tested before even flying are betas where the crew started and getting on the ship within three days and then tested again at the pierre he went on to say. Passengers were not required to wear masks on board until two days into the trip. This is a smaller cruise line as we had mentioned that this is not a publicly traded one but for anybody who's thinking about a cruise that are going to say take a look at that seadream one that went off and there is one cova case on it. Yeah not good. Well this is something. We've been grappling with this for a really long period of time right. I mean the the whole idea used to airplanes and then people started to get eased back into that and it seems like we are starting to hit numbers again. That are that are at least tolerable but with the cruise ships. Yeah this is something that's been going on and people are all betting on something that's going to be very very positive from a vaccine perspective but wow this is this is certainly something. That's not very pleasing for. I think the rest of the big publicly traded companies publicity disaster for the cruise industry guy. And i'm putting aside the fact that you will. You would not be caught dead on a cruise. Let's put that aside unbiased on the cruise lines because it is viewed as mean this stock viewed as the ultimate the ultimate vaccine. Play right and karen has talked about this. A number of times the way to play a potential vaccine would seemingly is going to be a vaccine. In summer is vis-a-vis the cruise lines. Not the not the pharmaceuticals and she's one hundred percent right. But i think what she would also say is going to be huge volatility from here to now. We mentioned the jimmy cliff song the other day. I won't do it again. But i just wanna point out actually saw this love boat episode a few months ago where i think gopher talks to captain stooping about this. So it's amazing. How are is limited imitating life or vice. Versa melts fascinating to me. I just find it shocking. There is only one person i mean. I think it's going to get worse. Would be my strong guests on this. So if you were to be caught dead on a cruise you gotta be careful about saying that now. I guess given the environment that we're in. I think that You gotta look to delay it post which is obviously very bad for the cruise lines but they do have some cash to survive
On More Funky Chips, Kool-aid Popping Candy, and Evil Twins
"This is the food scientists podcast. I'm your host. Amy j jack i am here with danny sussman. Low amy's jack hello. Brian pearce and greetings to the rest of the world. I know you're all here listening brian. Pearce here to a low to everyone. That danny missed yes. We will have some news in experiences. Then we have some more Chips that really meet chips. Chips new pringles new limited edition print goals. Yeah and something. New with reese's peanut butter stuff and popping candy kool-aid popping candy. And i'm just gonna jump in real quick. It's not new but we are doing out of two very similar reasons products. We're gonna play our who's the evil twin. Yeah yeah it's one of the one of them is hard to find a nameless. We can't figure what it's called but we'll get to that well okay new to me. You know what amy. Every time i find out you learn something i'm like. Wow we're really educated. This podcast is really about brian. And danny educate amy wall the world than world. Interact with us like through talking with that. We should go onto some news. We used to have news okay. So i'm just. I'll i'm gonna lead up to you danny here but we are at the very beginning of november and you might think okay definitely more in the heart of holiday season. Let's talk about some of those holiday things but we're already getting into easter candy. News for twenty twenty one. But i just i just saw in the grocery store fanatics group one of the grocery store employees at pictures of all of their christmas candy. Just hit the shelves today. Which i guess. So in the new cycle he would make sense that now the eastern news coming. But that's like really far like five months old. Maybe deserved have been valentine's candy news. We had something. It wasn't that great. I guess 'cause i was. There is valentine's candy new. Sometimes but yeah. It's not the same as christmas or halloween or easter. I know you want to talk about one of the new eminem coming out. The mayor did spoil everything else. Gopher okay yeah well The her is going to be a well. You know easter bunny candy. Normal thing sour patch is coming out with a white chocolate bunny filled with sour patch. Kids new. I don't i mean i feel like that's the easter bunny defending itself because everybody sees the little chocolate bunny and smashes its face and just like destroys it at least nice smashes space but if you knew that there were sour patch kids inside. Maybe it'd be like you know what i'm just gonna leave this little allow. You're good body you all and your white chocolate. I wouldn't want to eat you anyway so issue. I was picturing the star patch. Kids in meshed in the light chocolate. Not a hallo bunny filled with them and that sounded worse. Either way that. I call that like yeah. That's the of bunny that sees salad. Bunny not too thick. Yeah yeah Our patch kids. Yeah i mean. I do this arab redskins alone but i'd rather not have it in white chocolate. Yeah or any job that matter There is a to eminem stand. He's gonna talk about one of them but there's going to be a new mystery mix eggs. I saw that. Yeah it's gonna be one package amends filled with peanut butter Regular milk chocolate and double chocolate. And i don't know what double chocolate means. Maybe it's like the fudge brownie a software chocolate irregular chocolate. It could be. Yeah we'll see but right now. I don't really have information on that. But that's gonna be walking coming up. Easter twenty twenty one. I was very surprised. One of them wasn't peanut butter. But i think that's because that's the mixes right now. That isn't this mix said oriented basic peanut peanut butter milk chocolate and double chocolate. Now here's the thing about the right there. all right. they have no color picture correctly The picture has pastel colors. But it's early so that might not be right but it doesn't even matter what color they are because they're all the same size you don't know what they are. It's not really like even the regular mix if they're coming out with is essentially a mystery if they're all the same size you have no idea. Anyway what a peanut butter eminem is at the same size as regular no so. Maybe we'll see the program and have a new flavor coming out too. That's my one little nugget of news that brian saved for me that i can have. My pittance of news is that the one is that. There's also a springtime. Eminem coming out. That i think brian gave us because he doesn't wanna talk about it. Not really want to no. You don't even want to acknowledge that it's going to exist. I was happy to let you. Because i get joy out of making you make sour face which i'm sure you will at the idea of key lime pie. Eminem obviously but not make sense with regular chocolate so if it slimy
Day two and still counting
"Welcome to kiss. Miss mr simon. Your host kit crumb. I'm actually producing this podcast the day after the national election for the president and partly. Because i'm going to be talking about the electoral college right now. The vice president. Joe biden former vice president. Joe biden has two hundred and fifty three of the two hundred seventy electoral votes. He needs to become president. Donald trump has two hundred and fourteen of the two hundred seventy votes. He needs to become president in a presidential election. A landslide elections generally agreed to be one in which the winning candidate secures. At least three hundred. Seventy five or seventy percent of the five hundred thirty eight electoral votes in the electoral college on that note. I need to explain that. The reason the new president is sworn in until january is chiefly because the electoral votes aren't counted until the second monday december the rest of the time until january twentieth. The swearing of the new president is a matter of shifting information from one president to the other. But of course all of this begs the question. What's happening on november third. The general election in november is an indirect election in which voters cast ballots for slate of members of the electoral college. These electors then. Direct lee elect president and vice-president in essence you are voting for electors the number of electors in each state varies. The constitution gives each state a number of electoral votes equal to the number of representatives and senators. It has therefore every state has at least three electoral votes because the smallest dates how one representative and two senators. How does it work that. The candidate with the popular vote can lose. The election was look at the fictional stage of nominal volume population. Four hundred thousand okay. This a small state the majority of the voters gopher candidate a therefore all of nod knowles electors cast their votes for kennedy a those electoral votes. Go into as pot of electoral votes. That he's trying to fill up to the number of two seventy the first candidate to fill his spot with two hundred. Seventy electoral votes will become the next president of the united states. But it isn't quite that simple. There's a catch of sorts. Not all states award their electoral votes in the same way i. It's important remember that voters don't actually vote directly for the president. They choose electors to vote on their behalf. States or allotted a number of electors based on their population number of congressional districts. The larger states population the more electors is allocated for example. California is the most populous state. Thirty nine point. Five million residents also wholesome most electors at fifty five wyoming on the other hand is the least populous state with fewer than five hundred seventy nine thousand residents as such. It holds only three lack of states determine on their own how to distribute the electoral votes most days award all their electoral votes to the presidential candidate. Who wins the popular vote in that state and this is considered a winner. Take all system. This method of warding. Electoral votes is commonly known as winner-takes-all. So even if a presidential candidate wins fifty one percent of the popular vote in a winner. Take all state. He's awarded a hundred percent of the electoral votes. The exception to the rule is main and the of nebraska who distribute on a very different basis. Take longer to explain the desbois. Podcast has time so. I hope this has cleared up some information about electoral colleges and the fact that we vote indirectly for our presidential candidates. Now i'd like to take a minute to clear a couple myths first of all in the history of the united states. We have never known the winner of the presidential election on that. Electing day that would be november. Third it as always taken a few days to count up votes and i mentioned before that between al gore and george w bush that were thirty six days where they were trying to figure out who the winner was so. This is not unusual that this is the day after. We still don't know who the president is. Second second president. Donald trump is wanting to stop the county of votes. He's calling this voter fraud. And all of the votes that are being counted have to have been postmarked november third. This is not fraud. this is counting every american's vote or every american who voted so a couple things one. No we are really going to know who the president is for a day. Maybe two days after the national elections sometimes as long as thirty six days to were simply counting at every state. The votes came in postmarked on the election or the night of the election. which is november third. There is no fraud in this. i'm get chrome. Thanks for listening.
Sea Hunt - It's Still Alive - Cave Diving
"Off It's time for another installment of Sea Hunt. It's still alive. And today we're going back to season 2 episode 21 for cave diving cave diving Premier package on May 24th 1959 in this episode. Mike is working with a geologist George Brian who is searching for uranium in an underwater cave. George has been doing his diving with his wife Susie up until now but needs Mike helped to explore further and do more work. They're diving off the boat Olympia with its Captain pops. Mike and George hop in and swim down with her watertight geiger counter. Mike has a doubles and George's in a single tank as they approached the cave. They put the ear pieces from the geiger counter into their ear and they take out the probe Mike's off the Geiger counters chattering like magpies. All of a sudden things start to shake Mike is spinning around. George is at the cave entrance. It's an underwater landslide. When all the turbulence is over, there's a huge Rock blocking the entrance to the cave and George is trapped inside under a pile of rocks. Mike shines his light and injured signals back. Mike can't budget Iraq. So he heads back to the surface. He says he has less than an hour before Susie becomes a widow. Mike tells pops. He needs the ship-to-shore radio to call the pier and they need to bring out some big hooks to pull away the Rocks. He's talking really fast. George only has 46 minutes left now. He tells Pops that it's real bad. Now they're desperately scanning the surface for the help from the pier the boat rounds the point and gets there within 14 minutes Susie is on board in her scuba gear bag ready to help George is down to thirty minutes Suzy insists on helping Mike despite his objections. Now Mike and Susie make it to the caves entrance and struggle to get the anchors attached to the large Rock. Finally. They get them in place and Mike's ends up a flare for the boat to pull the rock the boat strains when suddenly the anchors Breakaway failure Susie is desperate trying to get into the cave. Mike is trying to calm her down and he said she has to be rough with her in the commotion Susie's air hose gets fouled and they have to Buddy breathe to the surface. Susie climbs on board the hooks won't work. She's crying pops is trying to comfort her. What will Mike do now? Here's where things really get interesting. Well, Mike just happens to have some Dynamite on board just in case you know, pop says that's kind of risky. Mike says there's no other option but like pops was in the Seabees in World War Two and says they use Gophers to carry a line through a pipe. So they concoct a plan to use a fish to thread the line off The Rock. Well, it just so happens. There's a barrel on Deck with a live fish might takes out the fish and ties a line around its tail and heads back down to the cave with the fish house and a speargun. He checks to see if George is still alive looks at his watch time is running out. He lets the fish go into the cave ties the fishing line to the heavier line and tries to log the fish back with his light like tries to grab the fish. It's too fast time for the speargun. He's got one shot takes dead aim, and our hero fish is a goner my calls in the fish pulls the line through and now has the heaving line around the rock ties the bowl and shoot a flare to the surface and Lifeboat cranks up its engine. Finally The Rock is pulled from the entrance my crushes in freeze George and brings him to the surface. Mike yells out. I got him and pop lets out a big Yahoo back on the boat. George and Susie are reunited. Mike is lounging now. They say George's leg will be okay. They're talking about the fish that saved George Susie says that were fish was Mike Nelson. As the episodes ends, they're talking about pops idea from when he was in the Navy and Pop's final line is I wasn't in the Navy. I was just the Seabees. Hm wonder what my CB friends would think of that now you might recognize George if you're of a certain age, that would be Herbert Anderson better identified with Dennis the Menace his father Henry Mitchell. Well, that was certainly not what we think of when we think about cave diving using a fresh to thread a line around Iraq is a little out there but if anyone can do it, it would be Mike Nelson on Sea Hunt. off
How To Get New Commodore 64 Games
"The Commodore Sixty four as a classic home computer and quite frankly a great gaming system and believe it or not. Games are still being made to this day for the system. Many are free. Some you'd have to pay for I mean after all, it does take work to write the programs even with the limited graphics and sound that don't told up to today's games but even with the limited graphics and sound, there are great eight bit games checkout etch dot co at do a search on that site for Commodore, you'll find Commodore Sixty, four games in even a vic twenty game or two here him there granted there aren't a whole lot of games listed there but notice about near the. Top that says Commodore Sixty, four click that now we are much larger selection of games and I'm sure there's other ways to get to this to this is just the way I did it now be short to look at the description of each game since not all games listed are actually commodore sixty, four games. Some are modern eight bit style games. Some are even just soundtracks of games. Sidetrack software is one of the big modern publishers of Commodore. Sixty. Four. Games. You'll also find great ports in clones of Arcade Games that either didn't exist for the commodore sixty four back in the eighties or had horrible ports back then and developers took time today to make much better ports and clones. Galaxia, for example, as one of the best clones of Gallagher for the Commodore Sixty four, there was a port of Gallagher in the eighties for the system, but it was quite subpar and didn't meet people's expectations for the game but you could get Galicia and have a very good gallagher like experience on your commodore sixty four through dot ISO. Now, if you have a commodore sixty four, you're going to want to buy a device called the SSD to IC- to deal with the disk images. You could buy this at the future was eight Dot Com and put your desk images on an SSD card. For Cartridge Images, you'll want the easy flash cartridge which you can load crt files onto. You could always use device emulation software and many of the downloads from each ISO for Commodore Sixty four come with vice or some are emulator already. So you don't even have to worry about downloading it.
"gophers" Discussed on Big Blue View
"I'm joined now by Andy. Yorke of SP nation the daily gopher which covers the the Minnesota Golden gophers football team. Obviously the the giants drafted a pair of players from Minnesota in the seventh round of the of the draft so We'll talk about those and I'm joined now by Andy York. Andy how you doing. I'm doing great. Thanks for having me. Hey thanks for coming on so You know to giants in two of to Minnesota players taken Taken by the giants in the seventh round any surprise for you that that either of those players were drafted a drafted or be went so late in the draft. Yeah you know what's what's Carter Coughlin No spreads he was drafted. You know most most mock drafts. I'd seen him going anywhere between the fifth and the seventh round His biggest thing going for him is he's a bit of twitter size You know he played sort of more of a Russian type from Minnesota But originally has more of a a linebacker type body You know so that that's his biggest downfall and probably why he dropped the Seventh Round Chris. Williamson. It's a little bit of a surprise. He got drafted. You know a couple of going in the seventh round but I think the general was he was going to be one of those sort of priority undrafted free agent type players and you almost wonder if if sort of the the covert thing had to deal with some of these players who who teams might have wanted to not necessarily get into bidding wars for but they wanted to get on the roster. I know Taking a look at the Vikings I follow. They did that with a lot of their picks drafting players in the seventh round Said they would. Have you know their own negotiating rights rather than having to to bid with other teams so A little surprise Williamson went but Gladis he's going to be in New York. And hopefully you can play well off to get a roster spot all right. So let's actually individually. We'll talk about both of these guys. Let's talk about Carter Coughlin. I obviously You know it's funny because I did a bunch of simulated mock drafts before Before the real draft I I was doing one every Sunday. Just your basic seven round mock just to give giants fans something to talk about and because because of the last name because of Tom Coughlin. Just for grins. Pretty much through Carter. Coughlin into the end of a couple of those mock drafts and just just to use the Coughlin name and in Lo and behold they they drafted Carter Coughlin seventh-round. So what exactly are the giants getting here and is this a guy who really can contribute to an NFL defense? Yeah Carter Coughlan. You're getting the kid that has incredible heart incredible football Iq You know he he just. He knows where he needs to be on the field at all times and he's going to do his best to get where he needs to be to help his team out As I said the the lack of Of size is going to be Coughlin's major downfall. And maybe why he rejects. More is a really good special teams player than he does a starter as a linebacker in the NFL But you know Carter played rush for Minnesota Basically You know take your pick how you want to put it if you if you're not familiar with Mrs his defense. He sort of was more of a cross between. Ah OUTSIDE BACKER. And a three four and a D end in a four three but did a lot of a of containing. The Ron did a lot of rushing. The passer ended up Twenty two and a half sacks Minnesota put some third all time in school history So he can get to the quarterback you know I think he If he gets the opportunity and works with the with the giants for years I think he has a potential to be a nice blitzing outside backer But I think the where you're going to really see him make a difference at least initially is going to be on special teams. He's he's going to be that special teams Dynamo. He'll bust his butt down there and make a make a tackle whether it be on the on the kick coverage of the punt coverage He'll lay a big blackout to try and spring a return man he just he just has that football. Iq He knows where he needs to be and he gets there and he does his job. That's the that's the best thing you can ask for football player and it sounds like he's done both on the out as an outside linebacker he's played a little bit with his hand in the ground and standing up as well. Yeah he has he you know. He started his career. As as a true outside linebacker And then in Minnesota's new sad under PJ flack moved more to this Russia and type. His junior senior year really really. Was you know both used as a as a designated? Pass rusher trying to get to the quarterback and as a bit of a run containment on the outside So he's got. He's got experience with both hand in the grass and and stand up You know like I said he has his. Iq is off the Charts Football Iq. He'll be able to. He'll be adapt to wherever the giants. WanNa use them The biggest thing is going to be getting him continued to grow some size At Here I've got his numbers here. Sorry at six three to thirty six. He's probably obviously smaller than you'd like to see for a Russian but yet he's got some room to grow He's he's a bigger linebacker It's just going to be getting that. Strengthen that speed build up but like I said you know he'll he'll be a special teams dynamo. He'll do whatever he needs to do to get the job done. And I think I would be surprised if he he works his way onto the giants roster doing that this fall. Nice the It it was so weird because the giants drafted out they had. They had ten picks four of them in the seventh round and four of their last five picks guys that play either off the ball or or outside linebacker so It looked so they're looking for something there with no doubt about that. No it's true and you know. And he's got some good connections the area Ryan Connell is drafted a year ago. He was a high school teammate. He ended up going to Wisconsin at Minnesota. Gophers we're trying to recruit him as well high school teammate of Carter Coughlan Blake cashman. Who PLAYED FOR THE NEW YORK? Jets obviously different team but same stadium. Same area also is cool. Teammate of of Colleen Cashman Cashman of course went to the U. And then and came out after his senior year last year so You know all three linebackers from the same high school so you can tell that Impaired High School. Minnesota is put some quality players into the. Nfl certainly sounds like it. I know that the that the giants are really high on on Ryan. Conley unfortunately had his head his rookie. Season SHORT-CIRCUITED I believe after only three games by a knee injury. And if he comes back and doesn't lose anything physically from the injury that he suffered then. Then he should be a good player for the giants. Yeah you know it's that it's that same. They're they're very similar in their playing style. I think so you know I think The constantly has a little bit better chance of like you said seeing more standard defense playing time. But I wouldn't. I wouldn't give any doubt coughlan working his way up over the course of a season to all right andy. So let's let's talk a little bit about about Chris Williamson now. You know the giants have since Dave gettleman became general manager at the end of the two thousand seventeen season so this is now three off seasons with cattleman in charge. They have spent a lot of draft and free agent capital at the cornerback position. Obviously you know the prevailing theory that I agree with is that you can never have enough. You know enough quality defensive backs where in a defensive backfield does does Williamson fit. Is He an inside corner? Is He an outside corner? Where do you think he'll compete for a role to giants? Yeah I think Williamson probably fits more as an inside corner you know he. He was at Minnesota for two seasons after transferring from Florida and I started his junior season in two thousand eighteen. Moore's outside corner and struggled a bit to be honest. You know didn't quite didn't quite fit for the role late in two thousand eighteen and then all the senior season last year he was moved. Inside is the nickel corner for Minnesota. And that's where he really started to excel You know he's really good at covering slot receivers Really good at Playing playing on the ball Coming up in run protection and making stops that way though I think if Williamson's going to make an impact it's definitely going to be at that inside corner spot now if if I understand correctly he transferred from Florida look mostly like he battled injuries at Florida and it was really sort of opportunity based where just looked like. He wasn't going to get playing time at Florida. There weren't any off the field or outside issues that caused him to leave Florida. If I'm correct that's correct. It's just it was sort of stuck behind a couple of players a place like Florida. You know they bring in Heidi recruits every single year. So all it takes is getting trapped behind one or two guys and you don't really see any opportunities to earn plank time so You know he looked transferred and PJ flack since he took over the University of Minnesota job has been looking for some of those Major major team transfers to come in. We've gotten players from Florida. Alabama Notre Dame was transferred into Minnesota and made pretty immediate impacts. So Wilson was looking for a spot Minnesota give him that chance and and I think he took advantage because obviously if he'd stayed in the screen situation Florida I don't think we'd be talking about him as a as a seven thrown. Nfl draft pick. Oh you're probably right about that and just tell me a little bit about you. Said that he really excelled. Once Minnesota moved him into the slot. Tell me a little bit more if you can about his skill set in whether you believe that he that he has the ability to to be an NFL slot corner. Yeah you know I mean He. He's definitely a a fairly good on ball type corner You know he he's maybe why excelled a little bit more on the inside. It's he's he's not one of those guys that's going to be able to run some of the best receivers in the NFL for twenty thirty yards downfield. He's definitely better off in that short set whereas dealing with shorter shorter routes in the middle of the field You know at times he can be too aggressive Both on the ball and tackling..
"gophers" Discussed on Big Blue View
"Today's show is coming to you on Thursday April thirtieth as we continue to roll through the off season here for the New York giants continued to discuss. Some of the fallout from the twenty twenty. Nfl draft from some of the roster moves that the giants have made as Joe Judge and Dave gettleman tried to put together a better roster for the giants in the upcoming season after the giants have gone through a couple of years where I think it's twelve wins for the giants in the last three seasons. Hopefully things are going to get better with new head coach. Joe Judge What appears to be a pretty good draft class perhaps a third straight good draft class for general manager. Dave gettleman few things to To talk about with you on today's show we're going to feature a couple of interviews that I did regarding draft prospects first Andy. Yorke of SB nations. The daily Gopher it covers the Minnesota Golden. Gophers is going to come on and talk about the late. Round draft picks Carter Coughlan the linebacker and Chris. Williamson the cornerback. Both of whom were seventh-round picks. Were also going to speak with. Lando Landers Nolan of SP nations. Black Shoe diaries. Landau will be joining us to talk about sixth round. Pick Cam Brown the nittany lions linebacker. Who was the first of four linebackers? The giants drafted with their final five draft choices over the weekend. So we'll talk to both of of those guys about what we might expect from. Some of the new giants wanted to talk about a couple of things before we get to those interviews. Though giants made a couple of of interesting moves this week as they continue to try to build their roster four twenty twenty season they used a rarely used on Excuse me they used a rarely used tender on unrestricted free agent. Marcus golden in an effort to Perhaps bring golden back at a fairly low cost for the twenty twenty season. All in all I think that tender would cost the giants just a little bit more than five million dollars if golden were to sign it and meet the incentives that That are are apparently part of that as well. Interesting move rarely used move in. You know by the giants to use a tender on an unrestricted. Free agent. What they're really trying to do here. What people need to understand? Is that as of today? Golden has not signed tender. He is not part of New York giants. He won't be part of the giants roster on till unless he signs that tender with the giants have really done. Here is taking a shot at keeping golden for a year on a fairly low budget. Low cost deal. They've pretty much set market here by saying you know people other. Nfl teams who might want him. You know this is. This is the market. It's four point one or four point two million dollars plus incentives. And you know if if you're going to want Marcus Golden. You know most likely you're going to have to beat that dollar amount. Marcus golden obviously did not see the market that he thought he might see after a ten sack season with the giants in two thousand and nineteen. Didn't get the the multi year you know. Big Money offers. He might have anticipated getting in free agency. But this is the giants who weren't able to come to a deal with the with today beyond Clowney. They weren't really able to find a way to get unique in Gawk way out of the Jacksonville Jaguars. They weren't able to to find a top tier pass rusher in the draft. This is the giants taking a shot here at at keeping Marcus. Golden perhaps upgrading. Their pass rush in twenty twenty. The giants also claimed Monterey Heart. Ted A defensive back. I believe he plays safety from the Miami Dolphins on waivers. Perhaps not surprising since Patrick. Graham was defensive coordinator in Miami a year ago. That's just the giants adding some depth in the in the back of their defense. They also added Chris Williamson in the in the draft. It's and they added Xavier mckinney in the draft as well so the giants. Obviously although they've they've spent a lot of resources on the defensive backfield in recent years there obviously still trying to upgrade their. They've set up a lot of competition in in training camp whenever we get training camp. So we'll see how all of that plays out but cattleman in Enjo- judge both said over the weekend you know the settlement has said before roster building is a twelve month process. It's ongoing just because the bulk of free agency is done. Just because the draft is done doesn't mean that your roster is set doesn't mean you're done trying to find ways to improve your football team in the giants have proven that this week with the moves that they made on heart edge and on golden will see what happens when you know when we get to whenever we get to a training camp situation. A preseason situation as other players may become available. We'll see if the giants make more moves in an effort to to continue turning over in. Continue trying to improve their roster for the twenty twenty season. Alright giants fans. Let's do this right now. Let's take a short break here for a word from our sponsor after that you will hear interviews I with Andy York of the daily Gopher as we talk about Carter Coughlan and Chris Williamson and then with Lando Lenders Nolan of Black Shoe Diaries. As we talk about Cam Brown. This is Ezra Klein. Host of the PODCAST. In two thousand fifteen is what he was most afraid of a pandemic.

"Welcome back to three no storm after one to the Minnesota gophers and Notre Dame fighting Irish in game one of the best of three playoffs we're taking a look at the shot chart right now we did mention it was eleven two shots on goal favoring Notre Dame twenty three eleven shot attempts by Frank I'm looking at the sheet here and I'm seeing a big solid swap of shots by Notre Dame right between the two circles and for the Minnesota now and from the goal of the top of the circle just packed in there they are the there isn't the objective is pretty obvious from the middle of the ring yeah and get can get a lot of over they have twenty three eleven Wally mentions there are other shots seven blocks by the gophers three by the freshman Jackson will Coleman another two by Ben Brinkman and then scatter over there are ten players from Notre Dame with at least one shot on goal well I'm a little scared of a flag star for the gophers assortments behind them now playoff series now let's pick up the tempo here in the second period yeah it's just it's it's amazing it's a little surprising quite honestly that there isn't working in the fuel tank in this one you're either not been anywhere near comfortable position paralyzed and as we talked at the beginning of the show we're going to have one other than Penn state and Ohio state wherever else if anybody from this conference is going to make it to the national dance can have to at least play in the championship game after winning he got his start winning by the end with the first game of the series and the coverages did not quite seem already to go with that I'm going to check if you have a moment I'm gonna spread out here and see what else is happening in those other games started the third period now Michigan has increased its lead to three to nothing over Michigan state and Ohio state is now six nothing in Wisconsin Jeez ask your initial lack are you thinking goaltending problem there well yes six goals on twenty two shots for Ohio state Carson Meyer has a hat trick for hat trick as well I mean the second album in the second period now has sixteen sorry for goals for Carson Meyer it yeah it's good for their six goals I was going to start what well as for Minnesota they just got to try to get some offense going how many teams of we are times in this period did we even see a three man rush for they could try to make something happen how many times have we seen them put together two passes yeah that's what she wants to go out across the blue line it's just been awfully awfully awful flats for the gophers and they seem to have just mentally they've been slow no it's been kicking up there hasn't been a supporter has an intimate support they haven't been getting open it's as if they were waiting for someone to make a play before they got to see well that's too late yeah you gotta get your feet going to somebody can make a point to get a cell phone and get it get it going early in the show how many times have we seen really spent at least half of the world's older by the time the commode well the tire to just got to dump it into come off well it's an easy exit on others old from older point now and then as they do come up the ice again seemingly give Notre Dame plenty of time to get four guys back at least at the blue line to line up and defend against them and then let the doctor becomes a way outnumbered situation in Notre Dame's favors got a pretty bad laundry list yeah it just gets left in the afternoon for their right to vote in place of hockey here I still go back to what I said when we started the show the all the tools the gophers needs are in the tool box there in that dressing room right now they just got to get him going yeah hi I'm still convinced of that if I can borrow one of the coaches phrases I still like this team I don't like the way they played in the first I thank you for all right we'll step aside it is scoreless after twenty minutes of play in this best of three series this is golden gopher hockey from Learfield IMG college I'm I'm not a big TV favorite chair it's game time you know the only thing that would make it.

First of all, Steve, you're off Las wait a little bit of a bonding time with young tiger. How's he getting on thriving in falling federal, yeah, that's the paternity leave, Dan? And now fully focused on a big dolphin summer. So we'll happening isn't it? What we go off the when's the next major US Comey far away. Yeah. US week after next. And then then we got the open championship, and then you got some really good European tour events as well. Lots of the Amish open score shop, and I think you'll be impressed with the European tour in the next few weeks, and needs to pull, it sucks up, as far as I'm concerned if it's hor, does west. So. Because I haven't been that impressive that lately on again. I mean, burnt vase bogut plan. We'll see. He's around the OJ. He will get a bull, there wasn't an on, again, a few injury problems. When I woke up by cop is. Expected slights. A good week with nor is why don't spice knows no one of those people with a huge public follow in his. Mary's a side. Yeah. Not bad for aside quiet way guy role. But yet we. Jolly good coming up to a decent lively ton. Hopefully interesting. Gopher really, stop picking up. Steve. Would you have either of those winners to thing, if you're working, sweet think so vs burger a lot better than he normally does he really, really strong putting performance? It was very surprising. I think Kevin is a bit more gettable them than vs burger. Nah, I some good colonial form in the book and he's a new man. Isn't he? He used to be very brittle in contention. But that was a superb front running performance. And that's the second time he's done that now he won the Greenbriar last year by five shots, we can rounds of sixty five and sixty four to win that so. Yeah. I think we start taking Kevin are bit more seriously. Now don't believe you wanna motorcar and he gave it. Why didn't he weapon this thing? Yeah, you gave it to his caddy didn't he? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that you look learn Matt Kuchar. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. I mean Kevin Nause ag- I think Kevin Kisner bought is caddy car after a win as well recently. And generous gophers in this as tight gophers in the Kuchar is the tightest on the circuit. The only things knows one on the slowest thing his knee. Yeah. Does play slowly does play slowly. But when you have a real grinder isn't he obviously not blessed with as much natural ability as many others. So perhaps there are reasons. One east to take his time, little bit more girl Uber's know exactly Glenn. If you had it pointed out to you that you want, you're the nine psych, one of the all time slowest gophers on your man, so slow, they used to clean Glenn all day. Job. Did it didn't he? She didn't use that sly about on a memory. I spy cricket just though age of London, Essex, and every wait on of the guys coming, so you do. Well, we'll get this way. He wasn't cricket. Run your at. All right. I'm right there. Steve on. I was Glenn, although he wasn't a. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I followed him. An open championship won't just to see our slummy wars and. Yeah, it was a pooling Lee slow player lateral latte any real ability as well. So we expect some it's not a player that Glenda wants to be associated with there. You're slow play Glen Day. Awesome. Usability. Hopefully the more than have who's the best player at UT what you play of Glen about seven sane state. Well, Steve tries to plow seventeen but I think you're, you're officially bit better known you. I'll play off twenty now. "Gophers are able to solve this game away. Eight point one seconds coffee at the line. It's a four point game. Technically either way it's going to be a two possession game. But free throw goodbye moon who had two points at halftime. And now sitting at nineteen different player in the second half took over the game got to the rim and at the thrim, the second one by Amir good. He got them both twenty four Coffey. Gophers by six seventy four seventy five sixty nine Penn State was six seconds along three by Jones plank to make it a one possession game. Penn State has no timeouts left. And now a delay a game here think on Jemari Wheeler. What's he doing? Was that intentional? I'm not sure what he was doing. He was standing out of bounds hovering over the ball. So now, Minnesota is up three seventy five seventy two four seconds to go. Gophers do have a timeout. Penn. State does not stall to pull the trigger lobs it up for coffee. He got held by dread. And now American put the game away here with free throws banked in from what about twenty seven feet. That was Wheeler. Was that Reeves? It was Wheeler. I did too. They didn't give him credit in the stats coffee hits the foul shot, and that should do it. Four point lead with four seconds left. Seventy seven seventy seven seventy two. With that one. It's a five point lead seventy seven seventy two four seconds inbound to Stevens, no fouls here. If you're Minnesota Stevens a launch at three from straight on. It's no good. And the golden gophers come back to get the win chambers and Patino Haagen and Minnesota wins it will play against the Boilermakers tomorrow night and six twenty wins now for Minnesota. It's a sure shot into the big dance. Twenty and twelve the record for the gophers now in big ten games..

"They've had a lot of the Minnesota Minneapolis kids. Go there, what was your signing daylight? Yeah. So I didn't do any of videos or the big announcement. I just tweeted mine just tweeted my commitment, and I called all the coaches that I was getting recruited by before. I did that just to thank their time. And thanks for going to the cream puffs with me, but my signing day actually signed with a few others from high school. It was just on signing day in our Jim one of my best friends names. Charlie Horton, news, actually signed to be a pitcher at the gophers. And there's gonna Taylor went to who signed to be hockey player at the gophers signed with a couple of gophers. And then I went to kansin, but it was cool. Get all the, you know, the local media dollar friends and families game. Who's who's the hardest phone call to make like who's the guy you connect? You really connected with you really liked. He just like, yeah. I just I didn't I didn't. I thought it in better Wisconsin my first phone call was definite hard to coach Jacobson university of Iowa. So with both my sisters. They're I known him ever since sixth grade. And even in sixth grade goes I think you're gonna play your someday. And so I always had relationship with them. And I got really close with all the coaches Trump through critic process, just because I'm very I'm very much people person. I love I love communication and just being vulnerable and getting to know one another. That was definitely the hardest one. There's a lot of tears me about five hours to get through all the coaching staff. Definitely one of the hardest days of my life. But, you know, having the conversation with coach card and coach crab enough telling coming here that that better a lot sweeter to Jason good friend of mine. He's a great, dude. Like the best thing about man. Best thing. Jake is I call like their first his first like nationally televised game when he took over for McDermott. They jacked they just opened the McLeod center and never forget like he comes by the table. We'd hung out a couple of days the day before we he and I lifted weights together hung out with him and his family, and he goes by the table right for the game. It's a big game. I can't remember the plane said non conference game. But it was some some that. Is back working to. Yes. PIN and they'd set up anyway. 'cause by table, he goes, hey, Applebee's. And I was like, okay. Like what he's like Applebee's? We go to applebees after the game. I was like, okay. Yeah. He's like this. And we're going after the game has some beers. Like, okay. I was like, well what if you lose? When are we going we go to applebees after the game? It was it was I don't know. If you remember when your kid if you played like soccer or maybe play football. Like, I remember like out here in California. We do like Shakey's pizza after the game and watch the game. It was almost like that like and now he doesn't go to applebees. I forget the place that they do now. But it's kind of the same thing. He's literally the same guy now. And now, obviously there haven't they've had a couple down years. They've got a great freshman point guard. But but but even now even through the success that they've had he's still after the game..

"Sure. We might freeze. Their hamburger buns off. We can always put more underwear under the underwear under our over where to us winter is no big deal. That's why we play the new gold north scratch game. It's got a top prize of one hundred thousand dollars because fortune favors the bulls and the bowl get out and play. Minnesota lottery must be eighteen or older to play. Minnesota fifty-six Purdue fifty four the boilers wrote a sixteen to six run. Amir Coffey hit some free throws to get Minnesota. The two point lead. Gophers were up by twelve at fifty two thirty eight of the fourteen fourteen Mark a little less than seven minutes later Purdue had tied it or do. We'll have the ball on a chance to take the lead after a gopher turnover. Now twelve turnovers on the day for Minnesota, Mike Grimm along with Spencer tollackson from our second deck perch here. A huge game for Minnesota. Visit like eight minutes left you're up to in a lot of ways your NC double A tournament hopes hanging on these next eight minutes. Absolutely. Don't get this one tonight and your dog. Now, you got to find a way to either win at Maryland rattle off tournament. Right. And as an eight or nine seed, you gotta face Purdue Michigan or Michigan state in that next game. So what are the odds the path and math? We've talked about the lose tonight the path and mass gets very tricky win tonight. And you've elevated your stock to the point where you might be able to sneak your way in whether you win or lose the rest of the way, but along long seven fifty three luck. Gophers have to play like they're not trying to hold on that to stay aggressive. Here's yeah. And I think Amir Coffey can be the one to set that tone for Minnesota. The last eight minutes of the game Goldwyn win this one please played a win. Don't play not to lose. Golden win this game. Two with eight to go. Go produced five of eight from three here in the second half sign on the right wing at the slot working on calcium. Who's back in the game with coffee mcbrayer stock on a Murphy now to Edwards with thirteen back near half court waits for a screen from. Works to the free throws up a shot. Back iron. No rebound tipped out. Coffey has the rebound on the run. It's a two on one. Amir eurostepped layup, no rebound Boudreau boy. A big miss their seven twenty to play gophers up to. Nice move. Just missed the one foot. Layup easier said than done through two players Boudreau. Here's Edwards into the paint. Lost the ball. No foul. Call Murphy, the rebound ahead for Coffey. And a three onto Amir centers. The ball rifles into the corner to mcbrayer. He drives into the paint. His eight footer short arms rebound his office again. Patino yelling at crispy ages. Sat on a stool. Here is I produce hit two big trees here in the second half. He had one in the first test Klein working on Calcio into the paint leans in up balance shot offense rebound Boudreau foul called and this could be hook and hold reviewable play Stockman. Commits the foul. Heels third not that we had the best of angles. But I think you've got to take a look at that. They're talking about it, and they will review it for the hook and horse, sir for that. No. They're reviewing the shot clock weather. No, I think that means we're going to review it. Okay. The one that Murphy had on the hairball three on the coffee miss. They did not review absolutely hook and hold without a doubt. That is. Absolutely. It's a hook and Gujral grabs Stockman. That's my point. Yeah. It's going to be on Boudreau. We'll see the foul was called on Stockman. The foul was called on Stockman. So let's see now. You're right. There's a definition of a hook and hold and how the call should be reversed. They should take three seconds to look at this. All you want to lay a little on air wager of milk, shake or something for after the game. Etiquette? We look at it through maroon and gold glasses. I get it. But there's if you're serious about this rule, they need to look specifically at this instance, and implemented rule based on that play. It was textbook Roy's in an inside position. And grabs documents hooks with his wrists. Absolutely. Goes and gets the offensive rebound. Chris beavers in Larry Scotto are this. We're watching it. I mean, it couldn't be any clearer. But we'll see what these guys choose to do. They would have to reverse the call which they should. I mean, it's not a foul on Stockman either way, even though that's what it was called. And now they're going to bring Courtney green that ought to help as he'll come and watch. Six thirty seven to golden gophers by two. All right. So while they're in the official review. Yeah. They're going to reverse it like they're talking about it right now. This is going to be Minnesota's ball. So we'll get the announcement here officially let's see they're talking to Matt painter. And how long does painter leave is big on the floor. Yeah. Boudreaux's reaction was just that they're gonna reverse this. Call got it. Right. So you get the milkshake after the game. Confirm the common. Follow on thirty five months stock. The gophers. Wavering. One follow on number twelve. He can't pronounce the Boudreau. Thirty-five Stockman will two free throws. Minnesota will take the ball out on the baseline. So it was not a shooting situation for Boudreau. So Stockman will get fouls free throws. I should say another Schuler shoes trip to the charity stripe. Fifty six fifty four. So Stockman gets charged with the foul and Boudreau gets called for the foul. At the line is Stockman free. Throw is in and out. Gophers have not been as good at the free throw line here in the second half eight of thirteen they were really good in the first half. Next. One four Stockman is good interesting. Lots toes the three throw line or lack thereof. There's about six inches between his lead foot and the free throw line never told us that before gophers get the point they lead by three and they have the ball six thirty seven to play Stockman Cowher, stall coffee and Murphy on the floor for Minnesota coffee. In the backboard against eastern. Amir does not play against a lot of guys at his position his close to his size and eastern stronger and not quite as tall. But he's at six six here's Coffey off of a screen centers of all of the top of the floor task down for Murphy, working on harms lost the ball and a travel called. Another gopher turnover. Minnesota just too many turnovers here Spence in the last. Well, no gophers about scored a field goal in five minutes and thirty five seconds. They're over their last five their only points have been at the line. They lead by three and we talked about the fact that Minnesota had to avoid that four five six minutes scoring drought. They have been able to do that in bus produce right back in this ball game. Three point lead for Minnesota too, many turnovers Edwards for the tie in and out. Murphy another rebound for the golden. Gophers look for Carson Edward his fourteenth. He has fourteen rebounds, thirteen points. No points in the second half Coffey out front Edwards now two of ten from three six of twenty three from the floor. There's ever night. Minnesota might win. Here's calcium along. Three. I. Soda upset sixty fifty four proud coming alive. Five thirty five no one using their seat. But chino hit Macau going. Here's harm to eastern out thought. Let's see what the big ten leaders have as an answer fine office screen open three an air ball offense. I threw it out. Tried to find ever on the wing, and he was not home. Gophers the stop and get the ball up by six sixty to fifty four. We thought needed to hit a couple any knock that one down signing time. Again, this season we've seen Minnesota not be able to hit the big three the three the three that gives them momentum. That might be the three that does it for Minnesota. Gophers by six we approached the five minute Mark Stockman against I forgive to mcbrayer, right wing. He just came in for stall, not a calcium straight on threes. Tried to Bank it in and brick it and the rebound comes off too. I for a heat check three there by the freshman under five to play northwest. Perdue down six with the ball. They have to timeouts. Here's Klein gives the harms out front right of the art ways. Debits working on the dribble. Here is Edwards and open three. It's no good. He stays cold. Rebound tipped and it comes off the coffee. The gophers three onto a mere flies into the paint control shot short. Deep. Rebound comes off to eastern. They want a three onto eastern working on calcium layup. No. But a foul on culture his Ford. The line will be no gel eastern who's one for two. He's got nine points. He's averaging seven ever night as I said a couple of possessions. Golden gophers will win on their home floor against a boilermaker team ranked eleventh that might be tonight Carson Edward six twenty four and two of eleven from three others have picked up including Klein with twelve and thirteen eastern can get into double figures. He has two shots. I one is good. He has ten had an elitist five with four thirty two to play. Sixty two fifty five. Gophers at Rutgers had a five point lead with four minutes to go hoping they can avoid that fate. Missed that one rebound to Brock stole. The lead is five sixty to fifty five four and a half to play. Prayer gives to Murphy out front a hand off to Amir Coffey well away from the basket thirty feet out gives to stall at the slide. Now.

The sweet goal. Nineteen fifty three the game winner. Gophers winning both of those games. Notre Dame five to one in the first game. They build a four nothing lead in that one. And then that cold two to one game and French was just talking about. Gophers one to take a weekend. Sweep on the road. Just like last week. Broaden Minnesota's on now by Matt Alex. Down to the corner for O'Leary back to heloc son who stole in for the defenseman. Alexander whipped back onto the point for Delo his shot blocked off the skate. They do look a little sluggish share tonight and got some so far taking advantage of it. With a to nothing lead to goals. I just six shots. Now, there's another attempted shop at arises way over top of the gopher goal by Jeff Jenkins and a captain on Mr.. Minnesota just gave it away back in their own zone. Jenkins had lost it Burke, grabs it, and here comes Nathan Burke. He's got one of the two goals over his right shoulder of the waste is inaccurate Walker there for support gets it along the left wall tied up now by two Irish players. Flung in behind the net. Or it's taken out by the defensemen Nate Corman. He turns it over gophers regaining button. It bounces off his stick grabbed up by Jenkins.
