Is the handshake dead?
"It a symbol for the handshake is dad the handshake is not dead at least I hope not it's on hold temporarily until the world as well again welcome to the attic attrition Napier Fitzpatrick is founder of the etiquette school of New York I often say I teach knives and forks and hand shakes because that's how important handshakes are ingredients merry Jackson struggling engineering a good grip you have Danaher yes there is a proper technique when simply extends ones right arm toward the other person gripping web too well and you shake from the elbow one two two Smith pops holding firmly but not a bone crusher and not a limp noodle I once read about little remembered president Benjamin Harrison of the late nineteenth century a critic of his said he had a hand shake like a wilted petunia oh my you see the people remember your hand shakes the instrumental part of your first impression this is a very primal sort of a connection very emotional David givens is an anthropologist with Gonzaga university in Spokane Washington he says the handshake reaches back sixty million years to pansies and roses do much the same thing they they long for tactile contact they basically reach out with the forelimbs and especially with the poem so it's not an accident that we greet each other by shaking hands no because hands of all the neurological circuitry in emotional the parts that we need to make good contact with our fellow humans and throughout human history I haven't grasped that sealed the bargain the handshake it's been an expression of peace and forgiveness alas it is also as we've learned an excellent delivery vehicle for germs the casual handshake is pretty much of present a dead the formal handshake were closing a business deal this I think will remain but the the precautions beforehand you may even use a thin glove well to make the handshake Miriam radi the last Thursday of June is what national handshake day used to be anyway Miriam radi of Brody professional development in Jenkintown Pennsylvania he's such a fan of hand shaking she created national handshake day in two thousand four my personal pet peeve is the macho cowboy A. Kansas should not be recognized in any way as the 2020 national champion
"To Kansas. Yes I should clarify. You said they were number one. In all metrics they finished second the net behind Gonzaga. How about that? I did not realize that okay. They finished second than they were top. Two in everything number one in most but they were second in the net behind Gonzaga. But either way I don't care where they finished in the APP can palm a people coach. Paul the year twenty twenty. We'LL HAVE A. We'll have a national champion. It's unfortunate but the world's not going to end at least not because we don't have a national championship for other reasons. Apparently but it won't be because we don't have college basketball national champion. Nineteen ninety-four we don't have a world series champion. They played the season all the way through middle of August and then the players went on strike and we never had a world series. We don't take a vote to figure out who should be the one thousand nine hundred four world series champion similarly We're not going to settle at national champion by by vote in college

Breaking Down Bracketology
"I do WanNa flip the page to Rica's point some teams. That have worked very hard to get to this point. We've got eleven teams. Charlie that have punched their ticket so far to go dancing any surprises for you in the ache you I think we have one out. West correct so In the last couple of days of the West Coast Conference Tournament Portland is your winner. And they will now go to the tournament. they upset didn't zag in the semifinals and they will catch a little bit of. Portland's game yesterday in the championship when I flew into Vegas and they're upset of of Gonzaga disrupted. That's the surprise. It's SORTA disrupted the bubble a little bit because when you when you take it to my Portland who was not going to make it as an at large but Gonzaga certainly is well now the WC goes from having one team in the field to two teams in the field. Well he can only still sixty four teams so someone has to come out of the field to accommodate Portland's entrance and that affects the at large teams on the bubble and in the case of my bracket that not Boston College. Back out of the field. Who just a day earlier had slid into the field because there was another loss by someone else so everything with this in the championship weeks at circumstances everything affects something else because it's a numbers game. It's a sixty fourteen field no matter how you slice it so going forward and these next few days. We've got some other tournaments that could affect that in the same way and I mentioned this going back a week or so ago that their watch out for the bids steelers because there are certain mid majors that we know we're going to be in the field. They've earned the right to be in. The field is at large teams if they don't also go in there if they don't go in AH automatic qualifiers by winning their tournament. Well then that's an extra team that we didn't account for and brackets and that's an extra team now that the committee has to put into the field. That's one less team that can make it from some of these bubble team. So yeah the the big upset so far has been in the West Coast Conference in Gonzaga. Not Winning it and we've got some more to look forward to. The MAC happens to be one of those tournaments where there's not going to be. Any fans will central Michigan won the league pretty decisively. This year is a top twenty. Rpi team and most assuredly will make the field but now that tournament played before no one could be one of those that affects how the bubble teams go to central Michigan. Does it also come on? Come out on top in the tournament So that's that's certainly one for fans to watch as we go forward and you're GONNA have to watch it on TV because you're not gonna be able to buy it you're watching on TV though you will hear my voice. I'm on the call on Saturday for the championship. And the more reason to tune in now on the game and you can't get into the arena so the ratings should be sky high. Now it's via going okay. So I want to over to the big twelve. Charlie would where I know actually had a chance to call some big twelve games this year and I know. Tcu In particular was a team that was really making a push. I believe there in the field as it stands right now but I was state actually Jones. Who's a certified buck gator? They upset Baylor over the weekend which was a huge deal. I did a double take when I got the alert. Baylor is bailer their legitimacy. It probably doesn't change anything for them. But what does it do for Iowa State? Well I always stayed. I had as a tendency leading into that game and and it pushed him to a nine. And what that does is it's security. It's cushion because of the ten seed. Maybe the committee views them a little differently. Not Quite not quite at that level so that he's talking about eleven seed. Well that's a vulnerable team to some of the upset potential. We just talked about so what that win for Iowa State. I think is put to rest any question that they'd be in the field although I think there was a big one anyway but it but it certainly nails it down and they no longer would have. I don't think any anxious moments watching the selection show on Monday Now it's just GonNa be a matter of where do they go? And whom do they play? But I think that's what did for for I would say for sure and it would what it did do for. Baylor though while not it's not gonNA knock him out of a one seed it. Does maybe raise some questions. I personally didn't think that there was anything to worry about with. Frankly there weren't a lot of flaws there but the big twelve not not one of the better leagues in the country this year of the power. Five Leagues I think it's probably fifth and they haven't been severely tested in a while and I always say certainly did that and the it might raise some question marks about Baylor going forward. I think they can answer any of those questions in the big twelve tournament because I was sneaking suspicion. They're going to come out with a little extra in that game and it could be ugly for the other. Big Twelve teams In the big twelve tournament but that said it does it. It shows little vulnerability that I didn't think Baylor had and that makes it a little more intrigued when we get to the tournament. Time itself I agree with you one hundred percent. I know look at the box. Were trying to figure out what the deal was. And nothing really was like crazy glaring. But I do think you're right. I know a ton of folks are going to be studying that tape to see what I was able to do right well that was able to watch some of that game and when I did was really slow the Temple. They hope to threes in the second half. They made more threes than they made. Twos in the game and the believer and it was and it was so slow paced and Baylor never found a rhythm that they they say clog everything inside the Lauren Cox had almost no room to move it. Kinda dared the Baylor shooters to shoot and they just had one of those games where they weren't making shots so maybe at least down a blueprint for some other teams as to how to at least approach Valer Ago You mentioned as an example Yukon being a number two seed and I know over the past few years you have seen to have had all these regional conferences in such a favorable area. I think at the Albany region that they mostly have been seated but this year they would be projected number two in the Portland region and I think as much as we talk about Yukon not being the same Yukon is as pass. There's still a very good basketball team. Won thirty nine. Oh in their conference over these last few years in the American and I think that having them with the possibility of travel really makes this team look a little different because they aren't the same team as years pass. Tell us a little bit about how that could affect their performance. Assuming they make the sweet sixteen you're right and Seven out of the last eight years. They've either played in Albany. Bridge for for Kingston Rhode Island. So they they have not had to get on an airplane until the final four in seven out of those those eight years. But let's let's be honest earned it ju- every one of those years with the possible exception of last year because they were the best team in the country in those years too so and when when cities bid for these regionals it just so happened that that all those years those particular low cows bid and got regionals to be able to host. And you can't happen to be close so this year. Those regionals are don't exist. There is no Albany. There is no Kingston. There is no bridgeport and no matter what was going to have to get on an airplane. And you're right. I think it will look a little bit. Different seeing a yukon in a faraway place. I don't think it's going to impact on the whole Locke. Though to be honest I think the people that are bothered by the possibility of uconn going West are the players and the coaching staff. Everything I've heard from them is like. Hey we'll bring it on. We'll play wherever we'll play whomever we'RE NOT THAT CONCERNED ABOUT. Gino's been been pretty adamantly over the years but this year when the subject's soon kinda shrug your shoulders. Look I you know. I don't have any control over it and we'll go play and it will do what we do and I think he said the other night after the the American championship game. We'll do what we do. I hope I think That's sort of the philosophy that they're gonNA take me. Maybe their fans aren't happy and maybe people who who look at the tournament and see certain things as they view them. Unfair that a team that is fifth overall. My take would be the one that has to travel. Based on the fact that other teams can can drive to the region. So we'll get into the reason why you would be going to Portland is very simply that The NC Double A. Would prefer as much as possible that teams that can drive rather than fly two games that they're gonNA play It's written right in the procedures principles of putting the bracket together that mode of transportation distance from campus. Things that they consider will this year Louisville can drive the Fort Wayne Regional? Nc State can drive to the Greenville regional. So if you assume that those are those are two of the other number number two seeds. Then they're going to be plotted in those regions and then the other one being Stanford and Stanford mashed up with Oregon would would also violate one of the principles of putting the bracket together and they They try to keep teams seeded on the top four lines from the same conference separate. So they're so they're in different regions. They wouldn't even meet until the final four now. In this case the fact twelve might have five teams in top sixteen making that impossible but in years past when that's happened the committee's not put one a one and a two. They've put fit when a four again. So it's highly highly unlikely that Oregon at Stanford Movie Place Together which only leaves one region left for Yukon to go to which is Portland matched up with. Oregon is the one in the two. So that's the why behind it and I think we talked about the the what or in the case of I think the Yukon players coaches the. So what I don't know that they that it matters to them very much but it does create an interesting conversation around how the tournament is bracketed. And some of these rules. That maybe fans aren't quite as aware of in the the head-scratching that I get from from fans and social media. Say Well if you cons five. They should be matched up with the number four overall team based on the curve. And that's Maryland so they should be going to Fort Wayne. Well we don't ever. The S curve is used to plot the teams in the tournament. But it's not used strictly to place them in these numerical matchups one in eight go together. Two and seven go together. It's never worked that way. It doesn't work that way in the men's tournament. The committee will try to do that as much as possible. That's the goal. But if you've got these graphical instances at hand as well then there there's other ways to balance the bracket and. That's I think what's going to happen. This year with

"Conference championships that's going to do it we can also put up a whale of a fight in the first half of the contest but at the end of the day it won't matter against the second ranked team in the country as they could snag the Bulldogs have reclaimed the west coast conference basketball championship hi Watson Learfield IMG college good Zack with a win over St Mary's and the second ranked zags earning another conference tournament title eight in ten years and they obviously get the automatic berth from the conference though they were headed anyway Joe Lunardi has been slotted in as the top seed in the west as for what we can expect from them this spring ESPN analyst Alfonzo Ellis we know they are capable of winning the national championship obvious Sir they haven't done it yet so make a case that this year and this team Weigand's A. can win and cut down the nets because the field is wide open there hasn't been that way in the past there's about nine teams that can legitimately when it and each of the teams has some vulnerability to them and that's what's made it so wide open but you look at this good magazine this team can play fast which they prefer to do in transition Giuliani is terrific at finishing in transition this team complained half court constructed this team is their frontcourt led by Philip patch yourself who's terrific with his back to the basket can make a fifteen foot jump shot their defense needs to tighten up at times and I think you saw the adjustment tonight which gets me excited about the defense John Ford lit them up for twenty in the first half what they do in the second half when exchanges with the B. ball screens or dribble handoffs they put a bigger guy on him to contain them you couldn't get from there to the ramp and kept him from taking a fifteen foot jump shot but he loves to make and that was the difference in the game always going to win get the free hatchet Donald no violation whatsoever you hear every coach talk about the draw we got a good draw we get through to the dresser okay so what is a bad drop it and what's the matchup for a team or a style that could prevent Gonzaga from getting all the way when you look at any team that has physicality on the inside and I think of a guy like a Xavier Tillman from Michigan state he's physical he pushes you off of your point where you want to post up that's been a problem in terms of philopatry self and a dynamic guard out front who can not only create offense oneself but to create offense for his teammates and you can't think about it anyone in the country better than Cassius Winston at doing so so a team like that this physical insight with the dynamic point guard creates a lot of problems over the course of a forty minute game for kids at the dragon lowering the automatic berth from the west coast conference they won their conference tournament for the eighth time in ten years another match between the Jagga and St Mary's

threw her support behind the former vice president saying quote I believe in joke we need a leader who really does care about the people and who can therefore unify the people and I believe Joe can do that and with us right now was ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts Steve what a difference a week makes it did you anticipate Joe Biden picking up this mode the momentum this quickly no I have not I don't think anybody did I I think what we're what we're seeing though is a fascinating phenomena based on one word and that word is fear it's fear of Donald Trump and fear of Bernie Sanders Joe Biden has not been reborn as some useful charismatics move talking energetic candidates Joe Biden today is still the same Joe Biden that people have a lot of doubts about two weeks ago two months ago two years ago the difference is that Democrats have so desperate so frantic to find somebody who can beat Donald Trump that they decided that day either as a group and individually as voters and as candidates they'll camel Harris being an example of of having to rally around somebody and then choosing between Biden and Sanders the fear of Bernie Sanders is pulling the party too far to the left so there's a lot of energy around the Biden candidacy right now but in my view it's largely negative energy it's driven by fear it's driven by desperation there are not a lot of Democrats even this morning jumping up and down in Saint Joe Biden's gonna be a great candidate a great president but this negative energy is very powerful and that's what's driving this trend do you think it's now his to lose or is it too early to say that definitely has to lose end up and I think it's gonna be very difficult for Bernie Sanders to rebound here the one variable of course the one no wild card is by himself as I say he has not been report he's still the guy who can show astounding lapses of judgment he's still the guy who could make gaffes he's still the guy who can show his age very clearly he's still the guy who can appear fumbling and uncertain and in debates with Bernie Sanders and interviews it's still entirely possible for him to make damaging mistakes I think a lot of Democrats even if they rally around by they're holding their breath and hoping that Biden will get its act together and I've seen some signs a few signs of Byton improving on the stop I think he's shown a little bit more energy I think the campaign line about I'm the candidate of those who have been left behind it counted out is a defective and powerful line really echoes of a bill to written of nineteen ninety two the comeback kid although Biden's hardly a kid he's more the comeback teaser than the comeback kid and also this line of of of appealing to the concepts of dignity and civility and normalcy I think they provide a fairly stark contrast to the president who's in the oval office now but Biden is still Biden it was all of his flaws but at this point he's the Democrats best hope and it's gonna be very difficult for Sanders to capture Steve thanks for your thoughts again this morning ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts it's also worth noting that this morning one of the former Is Duke Done? A Season of NCAA Basketball Surprises
"Myron. I think the last time we spoke. I was at Cameron Indoor Stadium asking You what you thought about Zion Williamson. That was the last time and now Zion's gone and things haven't been as good for college basketball since he left. Myron Medcalf is a senior college basketball reporter for ESPN. Men's college basketball has been having a pretty weird season. Can you explain to us sort of the state of things and why some of the usually omnipresent contenders your dukes your? Unc's Kentucky aren't even in the top five while it's a meeting in a year like this anybody who tells you that they know exactly what's going to happen in March. They're lying because there was no one no expert. That understands kind of what's happened so far. It's just been a wild year but I think you can look at some of the things that transpired Really at the start of the season. I think the James Wiseman suspension by the answer. Aa For twelve games after being ruled ineligible. You have a Memphis team that I think had a chance to be much better if he sticks around. Lamelo ball who if he follows the traditional track and goes to a UCLA USC that changes the spotlight on those programs as well But instead you have a lot of the blue blood teams that don't have the lottery level talent that they had a year ago. Duke is still a top ten level team but they don't have anyone close To a Zaylon you'd have a team like Gonzaga that had to lottery picks last year. They got some good players. Nothing like that so the the powerhouse teams are just really good team which has closed the gap so now a San Diego State with the Malachi Flint and against double team Malachi for three huge three by malachite lend. That's a really good team. Competing for number one see the Dayton with an ob top suddenly was one of the best teams in America. And I think it's because you just don't have the same concentration of talent we're accustomed to seeing with your Kentucky's in Dukes. Then you'RE K. Use Marin what is it like covering a season like this where there are really clear favorites and no one seems to have any idea. What's going on this year? You just don't really know who to chase like. You don't know who to say okay. That's the team to watch. Because they're really good. It just feels like a pretty fragile college basketball scene which is great for the tournament for everything. We didn't have in college basketball this year in terms of no established kind of powerhouse team. I think we're going to see the benefits of it. Come into double A. Tournament. Time when we could have one of the craziest craziest. March madness is we've ever had so. Let's talk about Duke. Quit even when dukes not great? We're still going to talk about Dick. Because it's really interesting. Myron how much struggled on Saturday they lost to Virginia Virginia wins. That look the three point line. Just couldn't connect before that game. They were ranked seventh. But I imagine they could go down even further now right. Yeah I mean this is a team that I think will will fall in the rankings. Duke has run into some teams who put on their Superman capes in the last couple of games. And that's change things you have. Nc State which made sixty one percent of its threes and that loss A week ago wake forest mixed fifty four percent of its threes. These things those teams had done before they phase Duke and Virginia really as just a team on the rise So I think duke got caught in kind of a weird gauntlet there but trae Jones has been sort of their closer whereas a year ago you could go to RJ bear. You could go to Cam Reddish you could go on. And now they're a bit more one dimensional They're much closer to what you see. Maybe in a typical season where they're right there with Louisville and Florida state and Virginia and the other teams at the top of the ACC. But they don't have a guy who's GonNa carry them to the top of the League and just help them separate. That's just not enough talent in college basketball for really any team to do that. But especially in the league like the Agency. So you're in Kansas right now in Kansas. The number one team. You were there to watch them. Play Kansas State and it was a right because these two teams Fighting literally fighting back in January Shit and now the benches inc just unnecessary. That's not good. This is Paul. This is bad this is but on Saturday night myron. They shook hands before the tip off in. Kansas came away with the victory. What did you make of the number team in their performance? Well I I'm just glad nobody fought again because that that would have been bad Glad to have that moment before the game I will say. I've never been to a regular basketball game outside of the NCAA tournament that had as much security as that game. Had I mean they were everywhere about? I'm glad there was an incident. I I think Kansas is sort of the perfect team in a year like this. Do they have a lottery pick? No but they've got this really balanced group of guys who are pretty good offensively. They've been pretty efficient team and they got two guys who win they're together. They're hard to stop. It's Dotson In Gaza Buki who when they're on the floor together. Kansas made about sixty percent of his shots inside the art. Their opponents have made about forty one percent of their shots inside the three point line. That's the story right there when those two guys are together. Kansas is certainly the best team in America. But you also look at them and go. Are they one bad night from Abu? Koa from struggling. He was hurt part of the game on Saturday against the bad Kansas state team boss feeds it in bounced past as a group. Six to shoot you back down spits travels this is the shot ultimately but he rolled his ankle. Oh this is good has approved. He is clutching his right foot so Kansas is good. But like a lot of teams there. One bad moment badge stretch away from being right there with everybody else. Well now. It seems like Kansas is going to run away with the big twelve after Baylor who was ranked number two going into the weekend got upset by. Tcu How bad was this for Baylor? It's always interesting right. Like Baylor won every game but one for like two months straight and now all of a sudden last week I think a lot of people are panicking and that happens to a team. Like Baylor which doesn't have the brand recognition of Duke or Kentucky or a Kansas. So in hard times. I think we may be overemphasized Some of their struggles. I think you obviously don't want to continue losing and losing to a team like Tcu is not good For them but this is a team that again played a tissue team that did things that they haven't done in the past made forty five percent of the threes on Saturday against Baylor. They made thirty three percent of their shots from three point. Line before that so that can be more of an anomaly. I think Baylor overall though is one of the best defensive teams in America made the best defensive team not named Kansas. So that's GONNA keep them in every game that they play well one team. That's right up there with Kansas and Baylor is Gonzaga perennial contenders They did lose to. Byu about a week ago but they're still considered favorites to win the WCTC. How good is this Gonzaga team? I think they're really really good me now like I think they're amazing. I just think this is a year where because everyone has been sort of even you get one loss and all of a sudden. Gonzaga gets the whole. You haven't played anybody. And why are you losing you know in the West Coast Conference and I think that's unfair? Byu was a really good team like Byu's go into selection Sunday with maybe a five or six seed. Maybe even better so. There's nothing wrong with losing a road game in that environment to a good team. They have the number one offense in America a flea Petra. Sav is one of the best young players Indian tire country. We would know what mark few the head coach can do. And they've got two losses all year. I think that is one of the best teams in America and I think will prove it wants double a. Tournament starts so most of the rankings have some combination of Kansas Baylor in Gonzaga in the top. Three we'll see how this weekend changes that but after that myron gets pretty interesting. I'm you've got Dayton San Diego state. Did you see that coming up before the season began out like I wish I could lie and say I did? I wish I could be that dude. It was like yeah. I called San Diego State back in October in Dayton. But I didn't I mean like ob top and a Dayton is suddenly this lottery pig. And I don't think anybody saw that Common Dayton on Friday against Davidson Mia. Think about this number. They may ninety six percent of their shots inside the three point. Line Ninety six percent like I don't care if you're playing a high school junior Varsity Team. That's really difficult to do in Dayton. Did that and not only did they do it. They've been doing it Throughout the season just really inefficient offensive team in San Diego State. A team that lost its first game about a week and a half ago. The they've been role as well in their line of people who will say San Diego State doesn't play the competition that the other top teams have faced in college basketball. That's not true. They beat the. Byu Team that just beacons Aga- they beat Creighton. Which I think is the surprise of college basketball naked win at all by thirty one points and they beat Iowa another solid team another Aa tournament team by ten points so the best teams that were thrown at San Diego State. They won those games now. They did lose the UNLV Week ago but beyond that there have been a really really good team and I think in a year like this again. You're not going to run into a team with two lottery. Picks it feels like they can make Iran as well both San Diego state ending

4 Things You Need to Know About Saga Cruises
"You're about to discover the four things you really need to know about saga cruises. I'm gary beverage. This is another of my tips so terrorism here onboard saga all the cruisers spirit of discovery in my cabin. And I want to share with you things that I think you really need to know about saga starting with this one solid cruise is part of the Saga Holding Group and they specialize in insurance and also regularly travels so escorted tours particularly they have two ships is in their fleet very modern fleet spurts of discovery. Which I'm on now? According this which was launched in twenty nineteen and spirit of adventure assistantship launched in twenty twenty it operates in the small ship category. They have nine hundred and ninety nine guests on these ships ten passenger decks. And it's all. Aw Balcony. Cabins Songa talks about offering boutique small ship cruising and what they mean by. That is the whole design and look and feel of the ship is quite contemporary modern inspired by not hotels particularly in London and small ship because it falls within the small ship category in industry by only having nine hundred and ninety nine guests secondly one of the critical things that I always like to look at when reviewing a cruise line is what they do. Unique or different to other cruise lines and soccer does a surprising large and in fact this seven things that I think they do differently first of all they are an adult only fifty plus the cruise line. The second thing they do is they focus on a very British experience. So everything on the ship. It's starring food the quizzes the entertainment rain meant the lectures even the passengers. It's very very bridge experience. And in fact if you WANNA come on a saga cruise the only way you can really book is through. UK agents or through UK Saga Saga does offer probably one of the most British of ord experiences that you can get cruising out of the UK. The other thing that saga it does and they win a lot of awards. Every year travel awards they win awards for it. which is they door to door? Vip Service so they basically will come and collect you from way you live bring you right down to the ship in Dover and then when you finish they will take you back to your hub. So it's very much a door to door service and the guests has to come on. Saga cruises love the fact that they met at the door and brought all the way to the the other thing which I think they cater for better than any other cruise whose line in the world is for Solo travelers. Twenty percent of the cabins on these new ships spurred discovery and the spirit of adventure also solo cabins. One hundred nine cabins are seller cabins so they catered enormously for Solo travelers. And it does mean that you don't have then all the big surcharges for double occupancy. So definitely I don't think there's any other cruise line that caters on the scale. As a percentage of their ship for Solo travelers something. Yeah I think they do incredibly well and they have lots of meet ups and ways of looking off to solid travelers once. They're on board the other thing which saga do is. They provide no-fly oh fly cruising out of the UK all year round. Most of the departures will be out of places like Dover. They do move to Southampton particularly the winter season but unlike like many cruise lines who move their ships out of the UK and head to places like the Caribbean Saga will sell all year round out of the UK. That's one thing that I think does make them. Unique and different. The whole fleet is based in the UK all year round another really interesting aspect to what saga does is. They will bundle insurance into the fair one of the challenges when you go cruising is the cost of insurance and getting making sure that you've got the right policy and also because saga does attract attract. Some older passengers sixty seventies and above getting travel insurance and cruise insurance can be a challenge so within their fair you can opt in to have insurance to cover. Cover your crews. I don't have any other cruise line that included within their fair. So it's definitely something unique and it's a real big plus another thing that they do pretty uniquely Sydney for the the category of ships that they operate in is their fares. Have a huge amount of inclusions compared to other cruise lines of similar standard solvency or combinations included oil foods included and that includes both the standard dining. So you in the main restaurant in the grill and the Verandah which are the informal dining but also so then all of the specialty restaurants have example onboard spirit of discovery. They have the club by Jews Holland. Which is the steakhouse? They have have east to West which is a real saga classic which is kind of Asian fusion food then have seafood restaurant called coast to coast on spirit of adventure. They're tweaking slightly highly. You still have the steakhouse you never Nepalese. And you're going to have an Italian so all of your dining is included afternoon. Tea Room Service is included. They use include wine wine and beer at lunchtime but all of your drinks are included in all the fares from twenty twenty as already mentioned. You got the transfer service and you've got the insurance. They also have a shuttle bus which runs into the towns. If it's not within easy walking distance that's included within the fair that's kind of a complimentary shuttle shuttle-service other cruise lines would often charge you for that other inclusions within the they include Wi fi now most cruise lines will charge you for Wi fi. Some of the very premium ones to be honest with you. I don't find the why particularly good on board The Times that I've been on board saga but it is definitely included. gratuities are included. And even if you go to the spar bar I was in charge any gratuities into SPA so no gratuities on top of your fair. That's included so the key extras that you're GONNA pay for is laundry okay. You'RE GONNA pay for that. You can use the guest laundry for nothing obviously do shopping. There's no casino on board if you some in the medical center and then excursions they are extra so the fares do include pretty much more than many other equivalent cruise lines. So thirdly what do saga do the same or worse than other cruise lines of a similar types of premium and cruise lines. Well first of all they offer a very traditional cruising experience not gonna find it particularly innovative or different. So it's going to have formal formal nights for example where you are expected to dress up so gentlemen Tuxedo Dockside Anti Ladies and sort of glamorous counts the activities and events on board are pretty traditional as well as you can have. Things like quizzes. Putting competitions trivia quizzes the production shows are very traditional styles. You can have view sort of review type shows. I think the shows for example are pretty standard to the rest of the industry then optically innovative in different. So that good quality descending passages enjoyed them a lot but sitting I found them pretty standard to other cruise lines so if you like production shows which are of the review type so for example they had some on board which looked at dance music through the decades that had another one focusing on Queen. Those types of shows pretty traditional. That's what you're going to get on board other other activities that they offer include dancing to live bands. which again is very consistent for a lot of British based cruise lines? They also have craft of classes. That have a dedicated craft class. That have a library stocked with lots of books. So it is pretty similar from many of the other cruise lines of its type in terms of the Status Ah type of cruising experience. It's not particularly different cruise experience. So if you like traditional cruising you certainly would like the saga experience the facilities ability. He's on board. The ship are again pretty traditional for cruise ships. You can find the usual things. Spa Fitness Center Pool Selection of bars. And lounges although in fact one of the largest which I think is kind of different very special is the large but overall the facilities are pretty standard for other cruise cruise ships of its type. The other thing which I think is pretty similar is food. The food on board is great but of course all premium lies tend to have really good food. There's lots of choice always big menus good quality food but I would say it's pretty consistent with other cruise lines of that type of you paying us a premium crusade. Expect good food and you'll find it on saga and they certainly have the choice because they have different specialty restaurants but I'd say all the Food City matches and as good as other premium lines like other premium Siemian cruise ships cruise ships as a wide range of accommodation. But what's very important is. They're all balconies so is also a plus but you can get everything from sweets down to sorta balcony cabins so there's a wide range of cabin types like there are on other cruise ships the thing which they also probably do a little bit worse than other cruise lines is making it. Easy for international guests come on board. They're very focused on the British cruise. Up and it's very easy if you live in the UK to Gonzaga crew's coming from another country so you're Australian or from the US. It's a little more difficult because they don't actually sell those actively in the country so you me to work with an agent which can connect with saga in the UK. They can make all the arrangements they can do flights and do all the arrangements to get you into the UK but it they don't make if that easy so you do have to deal with saga or an agent in the UK that deals with saga. So that's one thing they probably make a little bit more difficult. Because if you WANNA cruise norman other cruise lines you'll find it very easy to make bookings online directly with a local site so who is saga best for us. I mentioned you need to be an adult change. Be over fifty or one of the people in the Party needs to be fifty to come saw crews so it's only no kids and you do tend to find. The profile is on the higher side and of course it depends a little bit on the cruise and the length of crews and time of the year. So you will find a lot of people in the sixty seventies and even in their eighties onboard a saga crews also. You need to be someone who loves a very British experienced lights traveling with lots of British travelers. It's going to be pretty much. All British cruises loses onboard and the experience as discussed is going to be very British from the food the entertainment so if you really craving looking for a great experience you'll find it on board. It's very very good. If you're a solid travel as I've mentioned they also do have cabins for people with accessibility needs and are very good at dealing with people who have accessibility needs on on the ship and also when it comes to ranging excursions so those types of travelers will find saga a good option in my view. Saga is a very interesting line. It's a small small line at a very British focused line and it has really big strong loyal following. Hopefully that's giving you some

"In a slump but Nico manion a was three of twenty from from the floor and I sat down with Nico before because I'm going to do a little something on him a little something on C.. Can Echo was so ready and eager for this game. The whole team was. They wanted this. They want wanted this kind of challenge. This was the biggest game on their non conference schedule and it was just one of those weird nights credit towards he did a great job defensively but NICO also missed at least five shots. What's that most of? The nights are just going to fall particularly at home so they just couldn't get the breaks there that they need credit to Gonzaga for getting the win they definitely earned it It was a well coached game but Arizona was hot from three heading into that game and just abysmal overall perish. I think that was one of the biggest reason why wasn't just manion. But as a team they shot eight of thirty from Deep Twenty six point seven and they were hitting at about a forty percent clip going into the game that wound up being a pretty big killer as well. Yeah to add to the Niko Mandy ended number three of the executive right one of ten from three zero. This is the one that concerns me from your point guard. Zero free throw attempts. Couldn't couldn't couldn't draw the foul. See now he did that is concerning. I will say he did manage to get. I think ten assists. I don't have it in front of me but I wrote in my notebook last night. So he did still distribute and do stuff stuff like they did not lose because Niko just purely had an off shooting. It didn't help and in fact I think he was. I think he was like two of eighteen or two of nineteen eighteen. 'cause he hit the three that made it like weirdly close at the end and and got it like you know kind of crazy there but yeah I mean Arizona's never had a team Shawn Miller is never had a team that has relied on a tro freshman more than this trio. He's had really good recruiting classes and he's had four really good freshmen. Come in. But there's never been a trio that has led. The team in minutes led the team in scoring assists rebounds that is the case with Nico. Josh Green Zeke. Nashi right now. If you tell a coach coach you're GonNa have three awesome freshman and you can get tend to potentially eleven and to the only game left for Arizona is in how about this one just as a quick aside saint. John's when Chris Mullin was there scheduled sold their next game so like a homecoming. They're playing the warriors. New Building is going to be Chris. Mullin coaching Saint John Going back to Golden State. And there's no return game there's no like Arizona place at the garden or the Prudential Center next year. It's just as random one off and so now you're Mike Anderson and you've got to fly out to the west coast in your first year Saint John's Olympic as the era Zona what it's just a really renegade anyway. Let's say they win that game. You would take that almost every single time. Eleven and two in the non conference overly relying on three freshmen. There's chase issuers. Doing a solid job. Max has a Nice Grad transfer Jamal bakers fitting just well. I think big picture you're if you're in Arizona fan still feel comfortable but it does not yet have a signature win beat Illinois at home. That's fine that's that's nice. I think it will make the tournament but were so much better. Opportunities for signature wins. It's still not there. So that means Arizona's first chance at a really true signature. Kind of wind will come January ninth. When asked to play at organ and right now the ducks and wildcats to me are kind of neck and neck for best team in that league? The warriors should honor Mike Anderson. They should they should. They should honor Mike in some sort of way. Man This is that is a classic example apple of you get a new job walk in. You're like what kind of schedule my walking what am I. What did I sign up for hearing this year number one? It's just a total random one off and yeah they schedule it. Melon leaves and now he's left with that on his plate so that's a that's a that's all time scheduling the US. And you gotTa play Arizona in San Francisco because the Guy He replaced wanting to be honored by correct and he and the and the thing is like they didn't even I usually when that happens a lot of times the return game or you know but like usually a situation like this you might buy out of it like hey. We're not going to do this anymore but I guess like Saint. John's is just like who cares. I guess I guess it's it's just. It's the most random game on the slate next weekend. So yeah just just just a bizarre one what were you thought you. You know thoughts on on Arizona if you have any from because you know they obviously hyped them. What what did you have them before you up to the top twenty five and one on Sundays? Did you have in your top six seventeen. I had sixteen and I left him at sixteen. So okay I mean listen Gonzaga's really good but a home lot okay so home home loss to a ranked team alternate marginally four points Miller even said it was ten twelve points better than US tonight which is probably accurate but the final margin is the final margin but just you decided take them for it. Yeah I could have dropped them. Obviously there's nothing crazy about dropping a home favorite for losing but I didn't you know they were competitive for much touch of the night with you. Know One of the three best teams in the country. I think right now and so what whatever I just left them there. I believe I left them right. I believe I left them right where they were dropped them a spot. Y Y you check that real quick just for fans of both programs in college basketball general like this kind of stuff is great Emma on a on a personal professional it was. It was terrific to get to go and see that game off campus game Mikhail. A great venue. It's I didn't realize it sunk in Minnaso- as you approach it and you know it's kind of a low a low roof relative to what you know the building but you walk in and most of its down and sunk in really legal environment. I just think it's it's just big enough and still cozy enough but the the point on labor and trying to get to here. Is that the Marquis Marcus Ashworth. Why would you schedule this game? Not like pejoratively just like why. How did this come about? And I even talked to Sean before the game you know. Mark and Sean. They WanNa want to have this kind of game and then even in the press conference Shawn Miller he was asked if he would like to continue this kind of thing. Arizona does go to Gonzaga next season. But Sean was even like no I would love to play Gonzaga Gonzaga every year provided. We're GONNA win. Some of these Games now obviously drew some chuckles air. Because obviously if you're going to get you're going to get pounded by mark view five six years in a row. You're not gonNA WANNA continue. That's probably won't be the case so I would love to see Gonzaga. Arizona also continued beyond the series for next season. We'll see if they can do that. You know the two most preeminent west coast programs programs right now at this point you know I know organs right there. UCLA's attritional power. I get all that but Concern terms of winning and Arizona in terms of winning the recruiting battle. Those are the two most prominent west of the rockies and and it would be a great thing if we came to learn a year from now that they decided to renew this because the coaches are very big on the home and home specifically. They're they're very big believers believers in those in general. You saw Arizona. Wasn't afraid to go to Baylor so just a good note going forward because I know we're GonNa hit on this a little bit when we get to Memphis Tennessee. Yeah Listen keep playing the game. Far I'm concerned. It was a fun way to spend the the last part of a of a long Saturday. You know if you were in the central time zone or the eastern time zone. I think here central didn't till nine little after nine o'clock and so it was a fun basketball game. I know it got a little out of hand late but in Arizona made it interesting in the final ninety seconds. But either way if Sean tomorrow and continue it that'd be fine with me. So Saturday ended with Gonzaga's win at Arizona but basically started with Oregon's win at Michigan. We're going to get into that next but first I'm check this out. Are you looking for sports to be decoded from a unique perspective. I'm David Samson and I have a new daily podcast on the CBS sports podcast network.

"Fifteen two thousand nineteen welcome back to the CBS Sports College basketball where we sometimes discuss Campbell. Fighting leaky. Black Men Orlando is here with me and Saturday was undeniably a great day for ranked underdogs on the road in chronological order. I Oregon as a three and a half point. Underdog one one seventy one seventy in overtime at Michigan shelter. Aaron Brooks in Memphis as a six point. Underdog one fifty. One forty seven at Tennessee shells to Antonio Anderson Gonzaga Gonzaga as a two point. Underdog one eighty four eighty at Arizona. Shells Derek Riberio put simply those are the best wins. Nasty ranked teams have secured this season. So I do want to spend a little time on all three starting with what happened at the McKell center. Because that's where New Orleans was on Saturday night norlander. You picked to win the game so I know you weren't surprised by the result but were you surprised that Zags were up sixteen with eighty nine seconds left in in total control for the final ten minutes. Saved the last minute minute and a half. Yeah that was unquestionably surprising for a lot of reasons there and yeah there was a there was a little Arizona Illinois. Two thousand five going on there was a little Gonzaga Illinois. Ucla two thousand seven going on late But it was just enough for for Gonzaga hold on but for them to get that kind of lead aide really impressive even talked mark few afterward about that talking about a number of things in particular he specifically said we have had an ability this season to flip the script and games recover sided organ is one but even you know in multiple games and he said to me. It's the hardest thing to do in sports. We were down early early. The crowd was roaring. They were playing well facing a double digit deficit in the first half On the road against a one loss team ranked team in a team that he thinks he'll be top twenty quality at the end of the season. He said to turn that the way we turned it and actually win the way we did. Despite you know the messing this and the final two and a half minutes there thinks it's one of the hardest things to do in sports but they got the win nonetheless. I mean Gonzaga Right now and I'm not going to rebel here. 'cause there's tons of talk about so I'll just be quick on this and you can take it where you want we'll ping Pong Kazak has won nine straight games against PAC twelve all of opponents. It's the best program in the West. It's defeated what will probably be the three best teams in the PAC. Twelve this season in Oregon in Washington in Arizona. A to those three on the road all three away from Gonzaga. You know. We're not breaking news at. This is a an amazing program or anything like that. But I think in light of this kind of win win and there's a lot of interesting backdrop with it you know. This is the best program on the West Coast. And it has been that way for a while but this reinforces it. When you win win at Arizona on the road and you've knocked out? PAC twelve opponents tune of nine zero one hundred I I would take issue with mark view and argue that one of the hardest thing in sports is not what he said but actually successfully hitting Jacob degrom. Well you are. You are correct about that. In fact that exact popped into my mind as I talked to marshview after aftermath parishes here. I'm sure he'd bring up. He'd bring up Noah syndergaard right about now from a bad beats perspective. This was awful Arizona's team total was seventy seventy six point five. Don't ever ask how I know that. But Arizona's team total was seventy six point five Arizona had sixty five points with eighty nine seconds left so wit steinway under. It appears. Yeah okay. Let's go on a fifteen to three run to take their point. Total over seventy six point five. They scored fifteen points in eighty nine even save totally ridiculous. So anyway there's addicts have now won ten straight road games three and on the road. This season like you said at at Washington at Arizona. Their last road loss was a year ago today trivia time. Can you get it. Oh that's a good question. Last last road loss was a year ago today so it was more than a year ago that they played Tennessee They won the game against Tennessee. On a Nutri of the schedule in front of you that was an and I don't call that up and play Tennessee. Last year early December. It was an awesome game. I think in Zagreb won that game against Tennessee. Did they win it. Gonzaga Lost Tennyson. See on Sunday December night on a neutral court okay. Next game was December two Carolina. Yeah it was at Carolina. Lost One zero three ninety. They have not lost a road game since then and so listen to. We've been over it. I'm not going to spend another five minutes on Ohio. Ohio state should be number one in the eight people on Monday. The next two teams should be zagging in Kansas in some order. Either orders reasonable but Gonzaga's gotta be second or third on everybody's at their eleven one. Three top fifty Kim palm wins. They beat Oregon. Which is eleven and Kim Palm on a neutral beat Arizona which is fifteen? Ain't it can come on. The road beat washed with fifty Kim bomb on the road the losses eight neutral court loss to Michigan. We ask you real quick about killing in eighteen minutes foul trouble lip to the locker room with seven minutes left. Know anything more about that now. ankle injury thankfully staff was because he has the nature of killing Tilles. Billy's he's got a tender knee that really by the day almost they evaluate it in terms. Of How if it's swelling up if it's not if he's good to go you know he has missed more practices and he has his participated in at this point so he twisted his ankle the expectation. you know again. This is less than an hour after the game ended on Saturday tonight I think Marc few will expect him to play against North Carolina. Gonzaga has a game against North Carolina at home coming up on Wednesday. We'll obviously preview that on the Wednesday podcast. But there's no telling he'll be able to practice And you kind of lead me into the other thing. I wanted to talk about here and I'll have more on this by the way on Wednesday on CBS Sports Force Dot Com. We'll have a whole Gonzaga theme story in advance Gonzaga UNC but Mark View did not. Here's what's here's what's incredible and coaches can get in their head uh-huh Sanders stand. But he had a he had a valid point here in the preseason Mark View did not think that this team at least for the first two months of the season maybe the first three months of the season where we top twenty five quality anywhere even close to it when you consider everything Inzaghi loss from last season. The health of Killian Tilly to even start the season was was a complete unknown to the point where he wasn't even confident that they would have tilly for the first two or three weeks. Here we are Gonzaga's eleven and one few told me this. This is by far the most over achieving team. If you want to call them that basically his level he's never had a team we're going going into a season. He had an internal expectation level and had a team so far surpass it. The way that this group has and by the way. It's insane that they're doing this. Even in spite of all of the injuries are not fully healthy remotely. It's not just it's not just killing until he yeah he's got. He's got the knee issue. And that's a problem but Ryan woolridge who Out Standing and gave nickel manion. What will surely be the worst college game of his career? When I'd like to get to Arizona and a few minutes here he was awesome? He's been continually continuingly. beat up at Mont Gilder. Still not all the way. All the way. Good Anton Watson dislocated his shoulder three times during the Arizona. Game Joel I I am not one hundred percent either so keep that in mind when we talk about. How Good Gonzaga is Gonzaga's been good but probably only been operating at about eighty to eighty five percent health on the whole maybe even less than that and they only have one loss? On a neutral to Michigan at this point the net rankings will debut Monday and I would expect respect Gonzaga to be top five in the net given the strength of their schedule. The quality of their wins and other things that go into account Gonzaga's top five in scoring margin beating opponents by an average of nineteen point five points fourth nationally in scoring eighty. Five point eight per game perish and again still not fully fully healthy and efficiency margins do play into the net they are the number four ranked offense according to Ken Palm. At this point it is crazy. Impressive with mark mark been able to do and Yeah He owns the PAC twelve at this point. It's it's it's it's a pretty crazy and he just didn't expect to be anywhere close to this. I thought it would be good. Maybe not like second best in the country country a week from Christmas good but nonetheless To do what it did at Mikhail Center on Saturday night I think eye opening even despite the record I talked to him after the day after the NBA draft. Because he came on my radio show after the grizzlies drafted Brandon Clark and we were just talking. We talked Brian Clark. When did you know he was good? you know. What is he going to be able to do that? Maybe he didn't do so much in college so on and so forth but eventually really one of the points mark made was this. We knew we were losing Rui after the two thousand eighteen nineteen season. Like you go into the season prepared. We're going to lose Ryuhachi. MIRA prepare to lose really hard. So you recruit that way you think that way. You explore the transfer market that way. He said we didn't know we were losing brandon. Clark till December now once it got to December it became pretty clear. We were losing Brian Clark but when you go into a season not expecting to lose somebody early in there so much better than anybody thought you lose them that is the type of thing that becomes difficult to prepare for and recover from. We can prepare to lose. Somebody we know is going to be a top fifteen picks. Brian Clark was not supposed to be that according to anybody and then boom it just happened. And so I'd say all that to to underline the point you're making he had Certainly suggested to me. This might be difficult. You know this might be a little tricky. Because they're always going to play a tough schedule in the non league because of the League they play in. And if you're not ready to go from the jump at Gonzaga you start stacking losses pretty quickly and I think I think jokingly I told him I assume you'll figure it out and undeniably. They figured it out there. One of the best teams in the country right now forget about what they are going to be in February or March there one of the the best teams in the country right now. No doubt about it and you know when you're coaching your caught up in the middle of it. That's fine but I thought Shawn Miller a chance to speak with him. After the game on on Saturday night and one of the quotes he gave me. was very organized. They have great personnel. And they've been there. They've been in the winter circle all both as a coaching staff. And as a team they always have a couple of members even if their roles change from one year to the next two already a year ago they won thirty seven games. You live like that you believe in yourself and they have a great confidence about that and how they play. It's it's absolutely true there is. Something's really strong to be said about the fact that when you go to play for Mark View and you go to and that's considered really one of the most uplifting optimistic cultures and rightfully so I mean you can just an automatic for twenty plus wins every single season. Even if you're freshmen freshman drew timmy. And you're entering into or your Philip Patricia. Who as a sophomore has become? What Miller Miller says? He's their most dangerous weapon on the roster this season partly because tilly's not fully healthy at this point you just step in. You're ready to go corey casper you know it was also tricky in this game. They threw kiss bird at the four car which had not been done most of the season and it did catch Arizona a little bit off guard. It also Arizona's got three freshmen. that it relies on more than anyone so it was definitely a function. Function of Really Savvy coaching. It's not like Arizona was completely unprepared for it but they had not had not run crisper at the four for most of maybe a little little bit in Texas A. and M. Game Assistant Tommy. Lloyd told me afterwards so that was and it's just it's just another example of kiss brick and Kilian so many different ways but he's ready when they prep to say we're going to go small play you at the four and he thrives and even the like Adleman Gilder had not had a good season so far on the whole relative expectations he had four three pointers. So everything kind of came up. Just right for Gonzaga in this game. And conversely it was the opposite for Arizona. With everything except Zeke nause who I had the best game of his career sixteen point seventeen boards came out on fire played so well he had been in a slump but Nico manion a was three of twenty from from the floor and I sat down with Nico before because I'm going to do a little something on him a little something on C.. Can Echo was so ready and eager for this game. The whole team was. They wanted this. They want wanted this kind of challenge. This was the biggest game on their non conference schedule and it was just.

"Pat, Bradley, Jason golf by here on GTL golf, twelve Lindsay Lindsay. They're they're doing other things. They're living there. Beautiful is just stuck with me, man. Get a test to chop it up with my guy. Pat, Bradley from Arkansas Razorbacks sharpshooter. So college basketball, we're getting down to the final days of it. The culmination of what has been a season that that has seen some very very high highs with Zion Williamson and the likes and we get our elite eight action tipped off tonight six oh nine eastern five. Oh, nine here in the city of Chicago. First game is Texas Tech versus Gonzaga. Then after that Purdue versus Virginia who do you got y as we get closer and closer to Minneapolis the site of the final four. Well, I I love Texas Tech. I love what Texas. Tech does stay their defense is just so suffocating. It's designed to keep everything out of the paint. They pushed the ball to the sideline. They push it to the baseline. You're gonna see tonight. Their defense is everywhere. The ball is there's two they close up the lane so much anytime. Somebody dribbles dribbles towards the basket. This to three red shirts. I'm assuming away their red shirts. Like they did last last game. Just just suffocate in that that that ball, but Gonzaga's a different Gonzaga team. And nate. Team in the tournament right now, bro. To win it. That's a that that that's the pick. When you look at like. All of these teams. There's a question Mark against all of them in the one team that has been able to take care of business without really any speed bump has been man. Ryuhachi more is basically got everything in the offense of bag. Right. He can he can handle it a little bit. He pulls up hits at jump shot. He can get on the block. I love Zak Novell's, a confident confident three point shooter me he comes off screens and just doesn't even think about it. Takes bigshots makes bigshots brainy clock to me is an x factor. He's about anyone had seen much Gonzaga. He is he can score over anyone. He's creative. You know, what he doesn't need which I absolutely love. He doesn't need his coach a call play for him to affect a game. Like, so he can get it. All these guys do whatever they need to do. And he's they're just basically picking up all kinds of. Loose pieces there on the offensive glass and doesn't matter how good how bad you teammates, a shooting. If you if you can bring that to the table, then you're gonna have a chance to win over is a dynamic offensive talent for the Texas Tech red ravers red raiders will be a lottery pick if he chooses to put his name into the NBA draft. He you know, he flirted with it last year came back scoring twenty two twenty three points per game. The big twelve player of the year one of the best wings in the game. But other than that that's suffocating defense. I always look for what is going to happen with the lead guards and ready. And and math Mooney outplayed Xavier Simpson for the Michigan wolverines last game. In this game. You're going up against Josh Perkins. Who seen you know, his his fair share of tournament experience over the last couple of years, as you mentioned Brandon Clark has made a lot of money this year do transfer it into a situation is playing well Gonzaga's no longer and they haven't been. For a long time. Art few has brought built that program to you can kill all the mid major talk. If you haven't seen the Gonzaga BULLDOGS play this year, they were waxing people by thirty a game in the west coast conference. They they go to the title game in Saint Mary's pizza, and all of a sudden people start to worry about Gonzaga. I picked them to win this tournament. Like you mentioned. I think they're the most complete team about them in North Carolina. The most complete teams in the tournament. We saw what happened in North Carolina. They got their lives shot out by Auburn last night. I think the Gonzaga plays good defense. They can play multiple styles in the half court or uptempo offense. Zach Norville is a terrific shooter. And isn't scared to take you re hotch more is probably the best player that you've never heard of. And you'll you'll see that tonight. If you if you watch this game, so I got Gonzaga winning in the other game Purdue versus Virginia shooting lights out. Carson Edwards has eight neon. Green light and covering him for big ten radio on Sirius XM as I have all season long. It's always been about the identity of the team. Are.

"In, you know, by and large that's for my concern is with this west region who I think Gonzaga gets all the way through to the elite eight. And most likely does make it to the final four, but I could see them getting knocked out. But I think it ends up being a case where Gonzaga makes it to the elite a and whoever emerges out at bottom half of the west region can knock off zags. But you know, this is one of the more interesting brackets that people should keep an eye out for because as I said that bottom half of the west bracket that could tell us a lot about how the rest of this tournament plays out because of some of those teams involved, I think the bottom half of that bracket can give Gonzaga a ton of fit the pending on who it ends up being. A number of these matchups. I just don't think Gonzaga has had a lot of opportunities to prep for some of the styles that they're going to see out of the bomb half to west bracket. So that's the biggest challenge for Gonzaga, in my opinion. So that will do it for my. Review of the west region. We're going to get to the mid west and south as well. So stay tuned for those upcoming reviews, and that's all folks..

"What about hotcakes though, I want odd case? Now, here's your host ready to jump into the thick of things Dwayne calendar. Low and welcome to the show everyone continuing on with the breakdown of the March madness brackets, we have the west region. So the overall number one seed being Gonzaga or Gonzaga, the proper pronunciation, but I like saying Gonzaga, so we're going to stick with that Gonzaga. Honestly by all the metrics is one of the best teams anytime country. You know, I get it. The thirty at thirty and three record all the metrics involved for Gonzaga puts them in the top ten in every category. You know on paper, they look like a perfect squad to being able to contend with the big boys. And we keep saying this about Mark views team. Team that you know, one of these days Gonzaga is going to be a national title game. The problem is is that Gonzaga is a victim of its own success that they built up the west coast conference. But by just being the beast in the west coast conference, they never play enough tough games in their schedule. And it always seems to bite them in the rear end when it comes to March madness. Because again by the offense of metrics. They're the best team in the country defensively, they're top twenty like, Tempa wise. They're in the top twenty percent. They don't really have that many negatives. But I always say this about March madness is that it tests you on how many games you can win when you're a games not there, and, you know, more often than not Gonzaga. Struggles in the match of swear they don't have their a game. And they have to win with a b game..

"That has to be there, Gonzaga, Gonzaga has had the same coach for twenty years. Mark few. When I was a little bit. I don't ever feel good about this like, I know NATO ally little bit. But I don't know like what's in the what's in his head, really. I was thinking today or last night about Hollick. He and I have one one night we were together and Arizona state was on. And we were talking about early. And we were watching Arizona state. There really wasn't anything. I could tweet about that that I thought of that didn't sound like I was sort of either bragging about that. Or like sort of revealing something about date, which I wasn't prepared to reveal. But like it was just funny that we want one time we were watching Arizona state play. And we're having a conversation about them. This was last season. I think anyway, so what happens with him? I don't think it is necessary. For you be to continue to like really matter and win like it has. But it, you know, it's it's great. If if that last like if he if he settles in and he gets what he needs whatever that is financially. If he gets what he needs, you know, that way and can it can continue like this for a long time. You know? I mean that would just be really cool, and it already is cool. And I also like how and anytime I see you be like, so it's either games or it's like last night CBS had a camera on them. They they have like so so many schools they have they have a camera Santoro's for UB. And he's just so young everything just comes off. So young players are, of course, young. But it's also like the fans, it's. College students. It's young I want hear Joe about this. Like, you didn't go to UB. But you know, we're all like role in it right now. And one thing that was just said the other day by a guy who called in about the sabers, and it's been said many many times about the bills. They are losing fans. Young people are just not going to attach to this because they never win. And when they do win. It's like shocking. You start expected you have to win. But you also have to give people the the the belief that a team will win in the first place to get like full value out of that and the bills and sabres have just been big failures at that. And so you be has grown this thing. Where like now, we're at a point where it. Yeah. That's right. That's right. The whole year we knew they were going to be in the tournament. Pretty much. If you follow it closely. You would say the off season, you were just you would have been they were the number one the preseason number one in that conference, and they had been last year and routed Arizona last year. So I I like. Trying to figure all this out. Like what what is what is it? What is it? Really right now. Like is it something where we are going to these things take years? You know? Yeah. Your habits are your habits, your your viewing tendencies and we're interests in life. They tend to not easily change you sort of just sorta stay this is what I know. This is this is what I eat. This is where I go, you know, do whatever like you sort of stay in the lane. And then you come in. And I don't think it's really great. And it has probably changed habits for a lot of sports fans. I mean for me, it's it's very subtle. I go to a lot of stuff. I just don't feel like I have. I mean, I've made this point it, maybe even like an excuse. I don't know. So much is wrapped up in going to my one son's stuff that I don't find a lot of time to invest in going to other stuff, but for me, so you be like qualifies for that. When the kids were Littler, and I wanted them to experience pretty much everything we I took into a UB game. I I used to take both the boys to the Castro does he can play just to do something different. Okay. Let's get out. It's the ten bucks or whatever it is. It's go experience. This for me. What's changed is every night that they played this year? I was aware of the game and followed the score. If if not watched it, but I I knew what was going on with them, and you know, kind of year they had a lot of times that would be. It's the second half is just got going and they're on a thirteen to nothing running. They're up by twenty like, okay. I I guess I don't have to like really sweat this. They probably are going to win again tonight. But I- prior to this year as much success as they have had even even with Reggie for a little bit. And then once once Bobby Hurley was there and now with Nate. I was never I knew we we hear it in an update that they're playing tonight, and I would leave here in just completely forgot about him. And then the next day like, oh, good. They won or whatever this year every time. They were playing I was keeping track of. Yeah. That's what I mean. It doesn't it take years for that to just sort of evolve and the value somewhere in this equation. Is that win over Arizona last year? Like they're there. How how does it always it described or how does it grow? Oh, look UB's good. The coach left. Well, there's a new guy. We'll see. Oh, there's still good. Hey, wait there in the tournament the MAC tournament champions great second time in three years next year. Wow. We again, then it's Arizona. Okay. Crush them. Right. That's like a big step. Yeah. And so now the tournament for this is just for me. Maybe it's a lot of people. But I'm not speaking for anyone here the tournament game. Which used to be kind of just a not a novelty like that was the accomplishment at least for this fan. Right. This this person like the accomplishment was getting into the tournament. You are the MAC team that's in the tournament. And then last year happened, you know going into last year. It was winning one would be the accomplishment because now you've been there three times. And now it's winning too bright getting the weekend. Right. Right. And so like, it's different like that. And on the way up. And you can't expect that to be the case every year. But we we've got that right now. We've got that this week. Tomorrow is interesting who will they play. This is now you be is now playing a plan team. Ascended to that point like the six if they're a five they they've got their game. If there are six they get to play, you know, one of the last teams in the Zona state connection is kind of funny if it happens to be them. That's a one point spread. I think Arizona state and Saint Johns. Okay. And then Friday Friday like during our show is that game or clock. I think is I mean or thereabouts because there'd be a game preceding it. I would think so he's gonna on tape or whatever. We don't get. We don't get to carry it. It's on fifteen twenty. Yeah. I don't know as hard one. But be fun. Yep. Should be. And so like, you know, what's what's Texas Tech? What's Michigan wants, Gonzaga? Right. Like if if it gets to that point and then this seasonal play out. And then the next year there'll be that much more momentum, and that much more interest going into that they have a lot of seniors. They'll have a new team next year. You know? But this is this is really great. I mean, I just I just love what's happening. Another way. Like, I'm at least getting sucked in right now. And like you said, I didn't go to you b but I'm getting sucked in right now and one of the smaller reasons for that. But one of the more fun reasons for me for that is like I have a lot of friends that are big Syracuse fans like big Syracuse fans and UB's like I think other than Saint John's maybe they've beaten every team that plays in New York that they've played this year, including Syracuse. So the fact like if they could get to a point where this can be consistent, and like I can continue to have debates with my friends who are Syracuse fans, and like that can go back and forth. Like, I just that's like another thing that. You wouldn't take into account like a bigger program like that? And being on that level. No, that's the thing. I'm joined the most about this. And of course, that win has its own value beating Syracuse because now like Syracuse can't say like it used to say, maybe well what you're still down here. I mean, they played there. And you'll be one that so. Yeah, really cool. Good for you. You be good for you guys eight oh three oh five fifty is our number. We'll have your bills and sabres food and drink for you today through the day. We've got Sam Monson from pro football focus coming up. We'll talk about yesterday sabers win as well. But is the great John Rothstein would say this is March. We had on the show a couple of times. Yeah. Who kept tweeting over and over like, Mark confusingly? This is Martin right. Mike Chopin, the bulldog here lines open. This is W GR..

"It's like eleven twenty five pm eastern right now and Gonzaga just lost in the WC tournament title game. Final score Saint Mary's sixty number one Gonzaga, forty seven points Gonzaga scored in a game since it lost a Duke in two thousand nine so Randy Bennett's gale as our I think bid Steelers Mark fuse number one seed in the tournament is in real jeopardy. Now norlander I know you watched it how surprise you that Gonzaga as a fifteen point favorite on a twenty one game winning streak. Just lost a Saint Mary's on a neutral dams. Surprised you know, what this means Paris, by the way Wofford now thirteenth in the net. Pat about enough offer is the longest win streak in college basketball. You get your Memphis mention, I get my Wofford mentioned. This was a stunning outcome. Consign what niche in Memphis? You mentioned me mentioning Memphis now more than I actually mentioned Memphis. If you haven't notice. Oh head. We might need to use your talent on that. But I'm trying to balance the scales. You are correct. So consective Saint Mary's earlier this season by forty eight points, and it only scored forty seven in this game. Mark few told me three weeks ago that the Saint Mary's team was way better than people give credit for and obviously I did not believe him. I don't even know if I still do. But this was I mean, it was not Gonzaga's. Grigny Bennett did a great coaching job completely played at the pace that he wanted his team to play at. But if you watch the game, Gonzaga just had bad body language bad shots shots that even should have gone in didn't go in and Saint Mary's. I don't think it had a realistic shot at a bid..

But now they put it in primetime for everybody at home when they're sitting home after dinner, they can sit and watch these dumb questions be asked. And coach Tom Izzo says a key reason to why they and others have had so much success. This season is because of the experience on the roster. Some of these teams that are playing well right now. Other than Duke have a lot of experience whether it be Michigan Virginia. Gonzaga. Tennessee, you look at those teams, and they're filled with a lot a lot of experience people and not playing as many freshmen other than Duke tip off for tonight's game is set for just after seven Tigers wonder caravan started its tour today where they launch it in downtown Detroit manager, Ron Gardenhire was asked if Miguel Cabrera is receptive to the idea of D H and to keep them healthy. "But if you're looking for the biggest game day after thanksgiving thanksgiving also is loaded with troops. There's no doubt about it. Kansas Tennessee is what you wanna tune into. Yeah. That won't get as much attention as Duke, Gonzaga. Because do think Duke Gonzaga, Gonzaga's, not a quote, unquote blood, but they are one of the biggest brands in college basketball. I wrote this on Wednesday morning. There are only three programs in the country that have won at least twenty five games for eleven consecutive years. And two of them are Duke, Gonzaga. Keynes's every other bus. Yes. Though, this the Duke Gonzaga really resonates to to basketball brands, whereas Tennessee's not really a basketball brand, it's a big athletic program brand, but it's not a basketball brand. And so this one won't resonate the way Duke zag did. But it's just as good. I mean, it doesn't have as many pros. But on that Duke Gonzaga court earlier today with four probable lottery picks in Zion RJ, Cam and Rui. I don't know how many lottery picks are going to be in the Keynes's Tennessee game, maybe one Clinton Grimes. But in terms of like, you know, it's number two versus number five on Wednesday. We got number one versus number three. And on Friday. We're going to get number two versus number five. And that's a that's a hell of a way to spin. This was a good way to spend the day before thanksgiving. That'll be a great way to spend the day after it is. And this is just a great week for college basketball. I know you've been so into the Maui stuff there. But for all of us that have been just kind of tracking it. And as we watch even here on late into Wednesday night, you know, full disclosure full transparency. You know, we are recording before. Arizona plays Auburn on that that could be an awesome game. Like, maybe something amazing happened there their apologies. But Paris has got to get himself some dinner. I've gotta get the bed. Tomorrow's thanksgiving whole big to do here. But for next podcast later this week. And frankly, let's not even commit to one time right now because we gotta figure out your travel schedule. What I'm doing whatever, you know for the listeners that are wanting, you know, watch talk but this game of this team. Well, let's just let some of these turnament play out just a little bit here. Let's see what happens UNC, Texas UCLA Michigan state in Vegas. There's a lot there. So the stuff of relevance. There's a boatload of results here. So we're gonna have plenty to talk about on the next podcast. And we will definitely get to that to look forward to that at some point over the weekend be Friday or Saturday. We've got you covered. We know there's a lot of other stuff happening out there. And we'll keep an eye on it. Because there's a lot of like minor upsets and just teams that are finding selves prickly little spots where you lose one game in a tournament than you lose to you. Find yourself really behind the eight ball. So we're tracking it and the stuff that you need to know about will hit on the next pot. I wanna let you get out of here with that. Kansas. Tennessee prediction, give me a winner. Norlander? I think it's going to be a close game just about the whole way. I'll take Kansas parish. And I think it's going to be more low scoring give me like along the lines of. Glose going for the for the modern game. So I'd say seventy three seventy three seventy gimme the jayhawks and what I think will be a pretty good affair, and why the hell not I'll do the other one as well. I'll take Marquette along the lines of say eighty four to eighty over little I swear to God in my head. I swear to God on my my youngest son's life, and I shouldn't risk his because he's a miracle. The score. I had in my head was seventy three seventy Kansas. That's what I was going to say, I feel like you read my mind or getting married couple territory. I guess did you read my mind? Could you hit a luau outside my window? I heard it about twenty twenty five minutes ago. I heard a little something, which is which is good you go, get yourself some dinner..

"Dot com. 'cause I got about seventy four of them. I can use for the rest of the season. But Jack white as been terrific tremendous. So he's another factor. So this team isn't just those four obviously the four stars with former is important players. But they do have other guys at stepped up here there that are gonna you know, be factors overall. But that's just a quick a quick read on Duke both tonight and over the course of the past three days. They certainly showed new phases of what they are. GP, but they also show plenty of owner abilities, Gonzaga, absolutely deserved a win Gonzaga to me is a better basketball team right now than Duke if they played again tomorrow would be favored, but if you had me played Duke Gonzaga seven game series. I'd probably take this acts for two three a couple of things on than one last thing on Gonzaga. Then we'll move on. You're exactly right about trade Jones. He's awesome. He's great. And he held it together. He was I know that Zion RJ had the highlight plays. But like trae in in many ways, it's the one that's helped spark at the very least that twenty one two eight run that that got us tied in the final couple of minutes. I think each coach is is. Obligated to bring at least one player in no more than two to the post game press conference. And unless I'm forgetting something I think K brought trae Jones every time which which just says something about him. He he really likes trae. You can tell in the way that he talks about him both in his presence in out. Outside of trays presence in. He's really good. I didn't know if he was good as his brother. I think I think he is. I think he's gonna be a rock solid. I your point guard, which ain't easy to be. A run your team point guard. You can get those guys who come in. And they're just overwhelming physical..
