I'm clear on what i wanna do. I'm clear on what i should do. But just doesn't make sense. So here's the excuse. Anyone i reveal the excuse to you. Here's what's interesting. It's not a wild crazy. Excuse golota excuses are crazy and everybody knows you're just full of it. You say this out loud to somebody and it makes a lot of sense. So what is the excuse. It's going to take too long and cost too much. It's gonna take too long. I don't have the time. I got too much going on in my life. All kinds of relationship excuses start to begin to just kind of like waves coming into the shore. Just here they go. I shall have time. This is pulling my time. This is paul. My time does what i saw him. Time the number time another one is cost too much. I'm in debt trying to get out of debt. I'm not doing really well at or i'm gazelle intense with it and i just. I can't make any progress on this path at all. I just don't have the money. Got three kids in school. Whatever all the excuses they can just role in it. I don't have enough time. And i don't have enough money. And that makes you when you say that makes you sound like you're a mature person. I'm being disciplined at maybe one day maybe one day. But here's the problem with that. First of all you can make progress whether or not you have a bunch of time or a bunch of money. The seven stages we. But many times it doesn't take as much time or as much money but you have got to be able to look at three days. See your fears in. This situation are clouding your judgment. And so in the book from paycheck. Purpose that i just mentioned available for presale. Now i give two chapters to stage to get qualified in one of the chapters. I break down the four qualifying questions that will help you. Blow these excuses up. Because he's excuses sound very sound the they sound like. You're being a reasonable person but most of the time that excuse. I don't have enough time and don't have money. That's coming from a place of ignorance. And i'm not insulting you. I'm saying you don't have the knowledge to truly be able to say that. So here are the four qualifying questions. Really simply me talk about him on the program before i do a deep dive in the book from paycheck to purpose. Number one is what do i have to learn. That's the education question number two. What will have to do. That's the experience question number three. How much is it going to cost me. The economic question a number four. How long is it going to take. That's the expectation question. I'll break this down very quickly. Little i need to learn. Does it require degree. Maybe maybe not if it's not the only way or the best way then answer is no. It doesn't require degree. Could be an associate's degree could be a certification. An online program could be just a training program like i took locally in atlantic to get the basics of broadcasting. I didn't have to have a certificate. Joe but when i went to complete game broadcast i see i walked out of. There was some real knowledge on how to actually broadcast. It helped me. You know that. Because when i showed up to and i'd never been radio before my life. Awful in the grand scheme of things but i actually knew how to get in and out of a break. I was very good at it. But i knew how to do it. So the the education learn from a local producer and by the way that gave me some experience which leads to that question. What experience so i need so many people call a show and go kid. I'm applying for jobs and they keep telling my experience. What do i do how. 'bout going wrong down the ladder. Somebody got into that position with experience how they do it. what experienced. I need this. What i need to do and experience. An education gonna require a cost sometimes financial cost. Sometimes relationship cost. Can't hang out with. My buddies can't coach my kid's soccer team for a season. Whatever it is. What's it gonna cost me. And then when i look at the financial cost in the relationship time cost i can. Now look at this and go. And there's a really interesting book folks especially if you like to cook. It's got those really great new orleans recipes in it and this guy your grandfather. Your grandpa was one of the most colorful characters in new orleans from what i've read about him. It was unbelievable. Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got interested in doing this particular book. Okay very first of all. Thank you for having me on your show. appreciate it. earth off a married with two children in military. Over twenty years i retired in two thousand and eight and i've been aircraft mechanic for american airlines and now delta. I picked up this project after my father died and wait basically he motivated me to kind of pick up the torch and carry it. My dad was a dentist for forty years and he always wanted to do a screen. Play or movie per se. He's never do it. I have i did a screenplay originally. But i didn't go anywhere with it so i decided a couple years ago. Put a book together and kind of tell a story about my grandfather while i'm telling. The story basically blended in combination photos and recipes as i journey through his whole life. I start off when he's a childhood and carried on throughout his life until the success of his life until he died. It's a good read. It took me about eight years to go through it and do the research are did get a lot of information from father. My father ahead a manuscript he has deposition that he had put together with a attorney. Back in nineteen seventy seven. So i use all that information and took my tom everything in the book that i've talked about a kind of support it with a document and the article. Either that was given to me handed down to me or maybe that of actually found in the library found a lot of information doing the research about my grandfather in the library his life. It was pretty easy because his life was documented since he was a teenager so every time i tried to fill in the blank. Something in my father didn't pass down to me. I was able to answer all the questions that i wanted to answer about his life. You know interesting. That stuck a little bit about his early life. He fought under the name of jimmy moran which is kind of like no joy hupa in chicago took on an irish name in order to fight. I think more likely it was a lot of prejudice against italians in those days. Especially in new orleans. If you remember we go all the way back to the black hand days and they they killed the chief of police some Supposedly some black hander.
