Say may be weeks even months. Before we know the full extent of the damage to the wildlife at least twenty five thousand gallons of crude oil spilled into the ocean washed onto the nearby beaches and affected fish and birds in the area and in the extremely sensitive and protected marshlands throughout the area. City officials say dead. Fish and birds are being reported. Marine experts. Say a massive oil spill like this will affect the entire food chain of the ocean and all the animals that call the marshlands home and while the school wasn't quite as large as initially feared. It has reignited debate over the safety of offshore drilling. That's in part because it wasn't the only large oil spilled this year back in august. Hurricane ida damaged homes and infrastructure from louisiana all the way to new england there was also an unprecedented number of oil spills reported across the gulf of mexico. On the gulf of mexico grilling is located van because they're huge deposits of oil and gas subsurface and various strata under the gulf of mexico. And it has provided a huge economic resource to the state of louisiana and it includes a lot of jobs by the local community members. The issue is it's very economical drilling and production activities and the golf mexico and ovarian large number of people depend directly and indirectly on those jobs. But again it is done a tremendous environmental damage to the environment to the water. Government accountability office found that the federal department responsible for regulation is failing to properly monitor and inspect active pipelines. And not only that. The report also revealed that federal regulators have allowed ninety seven percent of inactive pipelines built since one thousand nine hundred sixty s to remain on the ocean floor..

Now the line nino pattern we've had you typically means a later start to bet what season across the higher production states of central brazil But model they're actually thinking. It might come right on time this year. So that's That would be something very unusual. You know we're right at the the pico hurricane season in the atlantic right now so the next couple of weeks here. We're going to be continuing to watch some disturbances move off of off of africa. Move up through the gulf of mexico and see whether or not we can develop them systems. This year's been pretty good. Austin texas has a problem. What's that the problem is. We have one river. We've won river that flows through austin texas. Okay that is divided by two dams and everybody here in austin calls it a lake. They have lady bird lake. Which is downtown in austin. Yeah you have lake. Austin which is literally just a different part of the river separated by two dams inbetween an actual lake lake travis and a fake lady bird lake. The it is unbelievable. Everybody calls it a lake. It is clearly a dammed river river. The septa me..
