"This year's british open perhaps gave viewers a look at the future of golf robots. The mother putter can drive a ball over three hundred fifty yards and make putts of up to thirty feet with a ninety percent accuracy rate. The robot was shooting a respectable one under par during its demo round before a ball flew into a water hazard when attempting to retrieve the ball the robot electrocuted itself and was set ablaze. When asked about their feelings on this innovation members of country club in virginia were not for it. One patron said they're taking over golf. What's next hockey squash sailing. We're not given the membership here. That's for sure. When asked why he had such animosity for robots. He responded robots what robots. Oh look. I'm not racist. I voted for obama once he then ended the interview. So here your choices. Something finally got us really interested in golf this last week. Was it from tombo debt. The story of how a woman who knew nothing about golfer much else became a sensation as she broadcast british open. Was it from maeve. How british open on the final. A fart machine was set off an attempt that failed to distract the ultimate winner from his quest or from hari kondabolu. How they tried out a golf robot. That might have gone on to win if it hadn't ventured into a water hazard with these is real story of golf being fun. I think i'm gonna go with me. It's not just because. I think it's an entertaining story. But also because he has a really cool. Fsu does so. Your choice is made story while we spoke to an actual golf journalist to tell us what happened. He standing over his tee shot and all of a sudden year. Whoopie cushion on the tee box. That was nick. Hausky is a senior editor at golf magazine. Who reported on the story of the fart machine thrown onto the final t at the british open. You were right. It wasn't just moves accent. She was telling the truth mostly about what happened. Congratulations you've earned a point for maeve and you have one hour prize. The voice of anyone. You may choose on your voicemail. Congratulations thank you so much. Thank you so much by by a now the game where we ask very very smart people very dumb questions. It's called not my job. We assume the united kingdom has a shortage of celebrities. Well, A couple of golf writers join us today. Here on TV Green up first. Luke Reese, who penned the touching memoir, one for the memory Banks. It's a pregnant and true story. Of a decades long friendship with Hiss, late golfing, Pel and mentor Alan Bond. Me, too not only played golf together, they hung out together, and the wily old Scotsman took a young American colleague under his wing. They both appreciated hard work. And they both loved to golf, and they both love to beat one another. Now it's in the form of a bit of a book, just in time for the holiday season. Got a golfer in your orbit? Might be a great Christmas gift for the golfer in your family. One for the memory banks. Luke Reese will be joining us today here on T too green to talk about it for the better part of the last 30 years. And for most of his adult life. "All right, if your phone calls the rest away till Kim Jones takes over at 10 and good news for me, and hopefully you We will be on Sundays for the next few weeks, hopefully, depending on the baseball season and what goes down, so I'll be on tomorrow at four o'clock. Rick Cerone will be my guest from Baseball Digest. Oh, great issue of baseball die Just by the way, read it almost covered to cover. There's a Ken's Burns piece. There's a whole thing on Babe Ruth. And despite sweetie making fun, That's how I learned a lot about 1918 by reading that and not because I was around back then. Okay. Couple of open lines at 8773376666 Get on the line. Brian rest. Kona is at the controls and Matt and Mae would you got the floor? Good morning, Richard. Great to have you back Saturday. Return to normalcy. Hopefully, I don't think I've ever anticipated a baseball exhibition baseball game like I am just playing this game tonight. Yeah. I happy about the GH, starting the runner on second in the extra innings games. I was scared that the circumstances I think if they may I get to decide where they want to carry it over the next season, depending on how it works out, But I support the Mets the concern that playing in a very competitive 60 games, but I think I like you, literally their offense, Probably In a long time since they had offense dispose the question, Mark. I see there is starting rotation. I even take the bull penalty. Pretty effective. Hopefully everything will work out for the best. Well, bullpen is going to depend on Diaz because I think it's it's it's pretty much going to be a domino effect. If Diaz Struggles like he did last year, and they have to move Familia or anybody else. Lou go to the closers roll. It compromises you in the mid innings and I think in the mid innings early on anyway, with the starters not getting up to speed You're gonna have a problem. You know you're going to you're going to need those guys in the 5th 6th 7th inning. And you know to hold the fort until you're late inning specialist can come in. And if you start losing numbers there because you're closer can't do the job and everybody has to move up a notch. That that can create problems. So yeah, I mean, I'm more concerned about the pitching than the hitting, really, And that's very, very new. For the way the New York Mets have proceeded over the last decades now. You know when talking to Eddie? He was saying, OK, Mats has has gotten better. You know, Stroman has been a solid guy. You got the ground, the Cy Young winner and you know, Wacha and Marcello have look good so far. So you know if that holds together, and the offense is as good as it looks like it can be. The Mets could be a really solid contender. Let's go to Roy Middletown here on the fan. Really? Good morning, Richard. Happy Saturday to you. Big big brick gardener, Yankee fan. You know, I give you 150%. As you know. I mean, he doesn't look like you really slowed down much at all. Still a viable part of the team. So my question to you is, you know, with the abbreviated season. And only playing what, maybe 9 10 weeks of baseball. Do you bring that guy back next year? Because he really didn't you know? He really didn't use that much at all. You know, because of the season. Yeah, well, I think a lot of it depends on how he plays this year. One would think a TTE his age and, you know, obviously missing more than half the season and on Lee playing 60 games. He can go pretty much Phil tilt for the 60 games and not worry about well, you know, August and September my going to run out of gas or the lakes going to go, so I think he is poised to have a pretty good Season. And if he does, then you go into next year and you know, with his veteran presence in his skills. I would think you'd want to keep him around. Now, Having said that, you know that your late thirties itjust goes. I mean, you've seen guys who play at a pretty high level on all of a sudden they fall off the edge of the Earth. In their middle late thirties, so it can happen. But I would think with his conditioning, his skills and his desire. I don't really see right gardener falling off the table like that, and I think they want to keep him around. Let's go to Chris in Chatham here on the fan, Chris. Hey, Good morning, Richard. Morning. Hey, I'm glad to hear you're gonna be back on Sundays. I feel for me personally is the listener overtime. You have a very good kind of way of navigating through these crazy times. Ah, like elect away you're not condescending and less judgmental and pretty fair. Um, and as a journalist myself, I appreciated what you said a couple weeks ago. About learning thie. Other the other side's point of view meeting. Yes, I like Fox. But I should watch MSNBC. I read the post. I should read The New York Times. We can all have our own viewpoint. But I think it's good to know all the viewpoints. What I want to talk about with the audio you she brought out last hour. I don't know if you know this, but Augusta has been taking A noise, bro. Your houses? Yeah, Yeah. Three tweet tweet, you know? Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, David do sik is a Chinaman. I used to be the publisher Golf magazine. Devon, I got pretty close over time. Work to call Try just for a number of years. I think Bryce and D Shambo. His whole moment is interesting, but I think it's unsustainable. I say this because What he did of left 2.5 months had a lot of time off. His ability to have that same amount of time in terms of working out is going to be limited, meaning that his body his friend is going to kind of go back to a little bit. Where it wass. I also don't believe in the guerilla type atmosphere of hitting it further..

Did you see his 340 yard carry on the 18th hole in the fairway? 380 total, So he carried 3 40 a roll elected 380 yards of Bryce Andy Shambo, but he scored a 10 I think, and on a par four, he missed the cut. No. All right. Let's take a few year calls on this stunning news. Maybe not that surprising. We've had a whiff of this coming. Jordan Stevens five on the power of Justin almost five hundred dollars to great Cornish beach was one of the four other guys you know I'm sure going to bed you know worry back towards Europe the other day he said but monaural never going to get stronger water terrible storm for the last few months you know you know he didn't have his best round tonight Dustin John Gilmore struggle you know characters struggle for breath so you know the border street three months all your all yours the teachers insurance plan also offers no Germans are concerned it's a tree tents reflect in about three months vacation where we're expecting to have ordered those three services a practice time that they were going to do that and so I think that's what you're seeing reflected in the first round today okay wow and then finally on the PGA tour they saying anything about when fans can return to some of these other stops okay the memorial which is Jack Nicholson's German abstract it probably don't have some friends there room did numbers no I didn't yeah all the work done a whole lot of social you should drink it daily I mean most of the orders are Kerry's walked down the fairways together employers down the terrorist you gather so we really want to know all about keeping the parts for many one you didn't see many fist bumps on the road that jumped out yes Katie coming off eighteen but given zero that some about where you from some of state farm yeah but other than that I don't think you're working out pretty good all right so are Strickland thank you so much everybody can catch his stuff he's a great writer no question about it cough magazine and golf dot com thanks are you always going to be working happy to do it Charles Schwab challenge interesting Justin rose and Harold Varner the third tied for a seven under they both shot sixty threes it was so hot in fort worth where they played as you heard art Strickland say Justin Thomas six under tied for third and my favorite tied for seven th Jordan Spieth's five under so he shot a sixty five so some decent golf out there with no fans the players said it was very very strange right there is some controversy over the Confederate flag and the Confederate flag not being flown anymore at NASCAR events so no longer wants people are back in the saddle so to speak and on the infield and they're in R. V. she cannot fly Confederate flags it won't we will not be allowed it is completely forbidden and any Confederate flags on cars helmets all that kind of stuff totally totally gone what has that meant for the drivers a couple of the drivers sounded off about what it meant take a listen the NASCAR and everybody involved overwhelming emotion because it's not something that I expected or anticipated in any way shape form I thought could speed Phelps is taking a tremendous risk by doing the right thing how about that that was Brad Daugherty who talked about he's a co owner of a racing team obviously it's already racing is retired NBA player and he said it really surprised in the days you heard of their economy off guard and we had the opportunity to talk with Steve Phillips who is the president of NASCAR and he told them the latest thoughts where he was going to do it and he said it was overwhelming emotion because he was I guess he was surprised by that he said he was very proud to be a member of the NASCAR community and what has happened and he referenced you know NASCAR's reaction to the twenty fifteen Charleston South Carolina church shooting or nine African Americans were killed by a white supremacist the killer posted photos of himself online with the flag the Confederate flag before the shooting and then you know the other drivers so you're heard of chips with NASCAR helmet designer following the Confederate flag tweets so they weren't the only ones they severed their their ties with the this helmet designer after the brand account lashed out online about NASCAR's decision to ban the Confederate flag at racing events and it just started off as some tweets fired off mentioning NASCAR the intermediate people in defense of keeping the flag and Jason beam of being designs said in defense of preserving history whatever that means grew to calling Bubba Wallace's black lives matter car garbage whoa and that really infuriated of Wallace obviously so there you go and it is a definite NASCAR is not backing down off of that they're sticking by it and we've seen that Confederate symbols are tumbling whether it's the discussion about what's going to happen with base is named after the US southern generals that you know were Confederate generals obviously and some of the like I said some of the statues that have been ripped down like other beheaded Christopher Columbus in in Boston for example and interesting times for sure and if some of these things are to be determined but not when it comes to what NASCAR's decided it is across the board.

"Golf club, which is going to be the site of the rocket mortgage. Classic coming up here at the end of the Mont, I believe it's June twenty-seventh through the thirtieth. If you don't have your tickets for that you might want to log onto the website check that out some of the day passes gone. So you need to get in there. There's all kinds of ticket options available though. So you're gonna wanna come and see all the all the big guys are going to be here. This is going to be a huge event for the city of Detroit. We are welcome to have in the studio tonight. We got Jeff Gaba with us. We got Jordan young. He's out playing golf someplace right up north. We don't know to attack the bear. Oh, well, good better him than the Michigan open. So good luck guys. You've been playing a little bit of all that well. I've been hobbling along. Okay. Also have Tom Lang, who's longtime sports writer for the Detroit Free Press and enter of the best monthly golf magazine in the state, the mission golf General, Tom, welcome to spin on office evening, happy to be here. What's going on in your life right now? Putting out another magazine. All right, researching for the show. All right. Also, we are happy to have Allison quarter Leaney, who is the DMC sport medicine. She's going to. She got a guest coming in tonight, going to tell us all about pro performance and all that good stuff. You betcha. Fred. Thanks. All right. Great to have you. Let's talk. Hey, there was some golf that went on today. Let's start talking about the RBC Canadian, there was a little. There was a guy that kid from Ireland at floppy-haired kid sixty four sixty one on the weekend, seven stroke win over MAC and Webb Simpson. He was five hundred on the front, four birds one eagle and two bogeys on a back. She'd. Sixty one he could have been looking at fifty nine guys really easy. He was looking at fifty nine. He makes a bogey on was it sixteen or seventeen with a wedge, does pull a little wedge. He is short shot and just maybe got a little bit aggressive with his line and pulled it a little bit because he had his lay off of it. I think and makes a bogey out of the rough and that was quite surprised on any comes back with an eagle which was almost expected. They are calling it, you know, when he was on the fifteenth hole known when he hit coming. So fifty nine was looking really good there for a long time. He made interesting stat. He was seven under and didn't have a putt made over ten feet. He was knocking at stiff in his that's been his bugaboo all year. You know, he's good for a while, but he's just not been putting that, well Tom, I'll ask you, what do you think Rory ready for Pebble Beach in the US open next week? Absolutely. I think that's part of why he went to this event to definitely get ready for it. He has been in the final group four times this year. This is the first time he won them. So he has faded in the first three a little bit, and, and not, not brought it home. But today was incredible. He had fifteen birdies the last two days, you think this tiger is going to be in the field next week. Of course, US open. You think this changes the odds a little bit got doesn't Johnson? Mccutchen plan real. Well, what would you guys think we're gonna talk about the US open a little bit more. So let's just hold off on wait on that. Also another tournament the LPGA had the ShopRite classic. Lexi Thompson won by a single shot over Jong sung. Lee six just call her six trying to go back to back. She wanted to US Women's Open last week. So Tom, I think you watched that Alexi rolled in a putt there, something I watched a lot of it. Lexi eagled eighteen with a fifteen foot birdie. I mean fifteen foot putt just a great performance. She's not one this year. So get ready for the Meyer she's going to be returning not returning champ, but she's a former winner. So she'll be in Michigan this coming week and Alan, McDonald, took third a great young golfer out of Mississippi State, who got her first professional win in Michigan. The two thousand fifteen Michigan women's open. I province you ever played them. So just a lot of connections. I think Paul Kramer, had a top ten we haven't seen her in the top ten for a long time. Not at all. She was T eight at minus five for the three three round event, which I was wondering, does anyone know why it was three rounds by LBJ went that wrote, there's just they just have a couple of tournaments left at our that our fifty four holes. It's from a cost point for the tournament, they, they decide. But I imagine this one slipped in this week because of the US Women's Open last week. It's such a high stress event, you know, gives them another day off to come in there and prepare. And be ready to go this week. I'm guessing so used to be the norm though. Right. Yes to be holes was well, you know, women can't place to holes right? Right. Right. And that's the, the concept has changed so much with as women's with as athletes in, and, and they show that I mean, it's a great show. I love watching. Yeah. I think it's great. The we talked about it last week about the NCAA's. I mean as the LPGA is looking really good. They've got a lot of talent coming up coming out of college. It's, it's going to be more fun. Hopefully we get some more Americans climbing the leaderboards more often and keeping things home, so to speak, but it is a world tour and, you know, this is what we're going to deal with, and it's probably going to happen. Even more with China getting more committed to the game with the Olympics. Yeah. And you know, the knock is that the South Koreans win so much on the PG and I understand that get it. But it isn't it? They sell it as an international tour. It really is an I know Tom and I have talked about this at the next Great America. Even woman golfer is out there. She's in junior high right now. She's in high school. Maybe she's wrapping up her college. Career Jennifer Cup co. Could be that. I mean, she's had a tremendous amateur career you see it. You see these young girls practicing playing they see an event like the gusts national women's amateur a few weeks ago, and they say, oh, man have practice more. Maybe I can be there someday. Right. Yeah. There's a lot of motivation, you know, and then the money doesn't hurt either. There's a lot more sponsorship, you know, before one took it over, there were struggling to get everybody was struggling to get sponsors. But they've definitely turned around the tour and their plan for a lot of dough, which definitely is a good motivator. Allison, you're going to have any you got anything going with the Myer classic next week for DMC. You know what? No, we don't. But, you know, we're really pull in here tonight to see all the events setup happening. It's just like this is so exciting to see Detroit rally around and see all the excitement here for the event. A happy World Cup women's World Cup. Put that plug in a soccer player by trade. Going on right now. Definitely all out of action, Michigan. We got this coming week. "No. And here's the thing. You try to talk your way out of it by you did QE which is potassium saying there. Some potassium is a salt. Okay. But the bottom line is correct me if I'm wrong Jason you said the word, you said k and then the words sodium with it and a is. So does you wrong? You can't talk your way into being right about that. If you said salt, there's a little bit of leeway. You said sodium, which is any my whole point was Paul George in his comments after the game last night where the Oklahoma City thunder got bounced again in the first round was very salty Damian Lillard shot. It wasn't a good shot. It was a bad shot. He just happened to make it he's being salty. So as I pointed out K potassium is a salt. I was thinking of a salt. I. Just happened to say, sodium, it was a slip of the tongue. Did you say an elemental representation that represented something that is a salt? Wow factor. I'm sorry. You did not say a salt or a sodium or any of those things you said is sodium. So your statement, still factually incorrect. Yeah. So. Salt. Sure. Sure. Sure, whatever you have to tell you about it. My golf bed is with my dad if I win this golf trip. I will get a tattoo picked by golick and wingo. That man is saying that we can all decide what tattoo he has to put on his body. Somewhere that is awesome on. I'm ruthless. I wanna give me that power. I know. That's what makes me go. Hey, sometimes the tweet can pull it off. I don't know Specter's going to be the winner. Again. We don't have anything to do with that. But that's pretty strong. That is a strong staving off the power to decide something going on your body forever. Wow. I got it Spencer to and I wouldn't let you guys to that. I'm just saying I would not let you to do that quicker to make. No, Diane Rossini has tweeted out. "The MVP discussion. Russell Westbrook again with another year of triple doubles could they be that team that could compete and here they are down. Three weren't looking to get go lose four one in the series out in the for, you know, in the last couple of postseason, so even with Paul George staying, and they haven't all the deal around the one columnist. Russell Westbrook has a problem with the keeps saying no question too. So it's not not great there right now. I think the thought was going to be a little more competitiveness and not happening. We know the first couple of games they were shooting at a level that we haven't seen as I point. Yeah. Horrifically from three point. So that became part of the issue here last night Portland goes out and the third quarter Damian lured fact happened again last night, we're the bulk of his production came in that quarter. They pulled away Portland snapped their eight-game playoff road losing streak. Now, the longest. Playoff road losing streak belongs to the Oklahoma City thunder. The longest streak is the Oklahoma City. Thunder eleven game road playoff losing streak. They were second behind them before the thunder stand a top of the heap. So this is an issue for them and their style of play while it's exciting wall continues to draw for them seems to not be translated this time of year right now. No, it does not it will get to some other issues that Russell Westbrook in the Oklahoma City thunder are dealing with in just a moment. But ladies and gentlemen, it is time once again. We're giving you the chance to come play one of the greatest resorts in the history of these United States Pinehurst resort as part of the front nine of the wingo Cup again side note. We're gonna pick three winners and each one of you gets to pick two buddies that you bring with you. And that's your debt sport. You gotta deal with you deal with that. We're not doing any part of that. But here's what you're playing for you get to Pinehurst. We'll take care of everything meals. Accommodations and airfare Friday that we're going to get there and play the cradle their short-course their par. Three nine hole course. Which is fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Was your best part of the trip? Lost drinking course. Yes. It is. Unkown baby get to the pinecone quickly. You as often as you can. And then Saturday morning, we're gonna play Pinehurst number two. Yes. We of course is where they've had US Open's. Yes. They have where last year I made an eagle you did. And I'll be using a golf cart. Yeah. Both of those things bothered me because I thought that was for birdie. I played right behind you. I made the almost the exact same putt for birdie was Fernie flippity, flip jibbidy. So then Saturday net we're going to microbrewery junior that Pinehurst has which you're gonna be a lot of fun Pinehurst brewing company and then shout out their master brewer. There's actually going to brew a beer specifically for us for the show for the trip than we're having people help name right now very excited about that. So we get drunk on us the one name out there that you have to say slow. You can't say it. Well, the guy has a tagline to the three pale male ales and the motto is drinking than sink him. Nice. It's pretty good. Isn't it? It's good tagline. Yeah. And then after all of that if that's not enough, ladies and gentlemen. When Sunday morning, we get to play the newly redesigned number four course at Pinehurst, which is absolutely spectacular hailed, by golf magazine as the best new course, you can play there. It is. It is one of the old number four was a great course. But it it is now been made sort of looked to look and have the same feel as number two, and it's just absolutely fan. And let me just say you're saying at the historic Carolina hotel, which has one of the best breakfast buffets known to mankind. Priorities are all in the right place on this. So now your priorities need to be in the right place. Right. How you're gonna win the thing. So we want to hear your best and worst best or worst. I should say golf bets. However, it's played out for you. We want you to tell us that story of your best or worst golf bet. How do you do it? You do it on Twitter. You can tweet at us. You can type out the story you could use a picture to help a company that or you can do a video. We ask you to keep it to thirty seconds. Make it creative. Make it funny. Make it petty. Tune your tweet your picture your video whenever you have to do bouncing off some other people to make sure they think it's good and enter because you only get one entry. Make account. Yeah. Don't don't wait into this pool. I mean, you wanna make sure you do the deep dive after you've done your very very best. Either way we were talking about some of the entries we've gotten so far. And as was pointed out, a lot of golf bet seemed room Volve, partial nudity, or you. Humility are being humbled humiliated. Well in it prompted my dad to try and create a word out of thin air a lot a lot of it has to do with nudity, which is just nudity pronounced, Ron. What does that word where the urban dictionary? See this boy visit count. No, why doesn't a cow. You cannot celebrate a victory. Just because your mate upward has been co-signed. My one of the person who got this entered into urban dictionary. I don't understand nudity. Listen, I enjoy urban dictionary. As much of the NASDAQ next. I think it has a ton of value in the modern world to explain things, especially given the nature of the show. I have to do a lot of explaining urban dictionary has. Helped lot that being said you cannot claim victory in your made up word just because somewhere in dictionary nudity. It actually uses it and sentences as well. Wrong word in a sense. Not make it the right word. More importantly, they'll let's talk about the words used after the playoff game between the blazers use nudity did not they use a very common refrain though, pre and post game, obviously for those of knowing for a long time. Russell Westbrook has a beef with one writer for Oklahoma. Right. One beat writer. It goes back to twenty fifteen twenty seventeen. He's had a running beef with this one writer for Jammu rights for the Oklahoma. And he's a columnist. It goes back to two thousand seventeen. When Trump Trammell after a contentious exchange now you can contentious. This was Trammell asked Stephen Adams. Why the team struggled in this series against the jazz? One Westbrook went to the bench since then every time Trammell asked him a question Westbrook. Does the next question big? So that's the where the Genesis. And this was one of the pre-game press conferences, I think where Russell was having none of answering any of that gentleman's questions, very Trammell, the Oklahoma. And Russell the first half. Both teams struggled offensively is sort of a slug of the game. Both teams got going in the second half. What happened that sort of reversed the reverse the the tone of this game question? Yeah. The the fourth quarter Vick. You got a fifteen point lead. They catch up one happened. The last six seven eight minutes that reversed the momentum. You guys burst back away. Curious Portland due Pierre. Paul why did you dunk there at the end of the game next question? Not really sure why Paul George went there because that was a different guy that.

"Always? Hey, mason. Or Michael Mason asked me in fasttrack. Do you think America would vote for a bachelor for president people don't care anymore? They vote black person that people say would never happen gay openly gay candidate vote for sure you think so. Yeah, I think so they wouldn't America's evolved. Dave, wouldn't they wouldn't elect a female candidate? Oh, yes. They would. Yeah. Well, I mean, it isn't the wrong one. Yeah. That's all. Definitely will be in my lifetime. It definitely will be. Right now. Okay. Make president Haley twenty twenty four president Haley, Nikki Nikki Haley spoken like a true right-winger. She is smart. TMZ thing. Look like, though, if we have a bachelor president like imagine he goes out like Jimmy Garoppolo did like he goes out with film star Corey Booker is supposedly dating Rosario Dawson. Okay. But I thought he was. Oh, that's way. Cory booker. I thought I thought you said to gay candidate was viz. No, Pete Buddha. Judaism mary's. He's the the game air of southbound. Oh, that's not book. Oh, you know. I I asked earlier if there's ever been a player who talked his way out of town like Manny Machado did and out of LA. Yeah. And Danny Rollins, Danny? Thank you, one of our listeners gave me one and prize. Eight didn't think of this. Who's our question is who said this? I think you're you'll be the one that gets it one two three Cancun. Oh, Nick fan. Nick Vanak saw they they were playing at the end of the season. And you're like say defense on three one two three Cancun like, and it was in the middle of a playoff series say that well he was in the huddle, and they had cameras in there. Over the air. I think and and then out and that was it. Nobody likes. Nobody likes still mad at the Matt Kuchis Kennedy caddy for rat nut met well. You know, you cave coocher finally caved. I didn't even know what any of this means you didn't do any of that last week. Oh my gosh. You missed a great story. So what's what's the man culture is a pro golfer? I know that much one eight tournament one point three million dollars, and he gave his caddy five grand, which is less than one per se. A pre pre existing agreement with the caddy, but still three thousand dollars to caddy from that weak, and because he wanted to give him a tip of two thousand so give no you gave an extra five, Jim and q. Give them like a forty percent tip and use the for catty, you give them depending on what your ten percent of your regular caddies five percent of easy substitute. Yes. Okay. So Kucha gave them five thousand right? And this is a private at one point two one point three million to let you know a had he given him five percent. It would have been sixty grand. Oh, gave him. Out of Tipton more too. So before you make your point, and let me tell you how it evolved because it's critical to what you're about to say. So Mace the caddy calls them and says, hey, I know you gave me five grand, but I've been talking all the other caddies and all the other people round here. And they told me that I should ask you for five percent because that's standard. And I don't want these other caddies being mad at me. And I don't you know, you one one point three million. You gave me five and they said to this caddy. Nope. We had a deal. Look if it'll make it go away. I'll give you an extra fifteen grants and the caddy said the caddy said, no the twenty. So what would have been twenty grand the caddy said. No, he goes, I wouldn't I wouldn't do it for any less than fifty right now getting five percents sixty right? So then he went to a golf magazine and tell them the story, which is where you have a problem any e- outs..

"This is love from the original lineup of van Halen from my personal favorite album of the dealer error fair. Warning, it's their heaviest. It's one of those ones that and women and children. I are are kind of my two favorites. But fair warning is one of those albums didn't really do that great for van Halen before this is right before nineteen Eighty-four. And to me, it's the heaviest they've done. And it's great mean street center. Swing is great. So this is love unchained his on this as well. This is just a really really hard heavy album. They really just you know, unchain themselves so to speak the rumors, of course, are the original lineup of van Halen are going to get back together. And they're gonna play. I don't think that's going to happen to be quite honest with you deal are David Lee Roth floated that around a couple of months ago, but Michael Anthony is does not so much come out and denied it. But he really doesn't talk to anybody in the band these admitted as much. Eddie van Halen. Just did an interview with golf magazine didn't mention anything about it either. They didn't really have time to get into it with the with the music with him. So some interesting stuff would they get together. There was a thing on Facebook. Apparently that van Halen would be playing with the foo fighters at Yankee Stadium. People were going nuts. And then I mentioned to a few people. Hey, look, who's the promoter for the event, and it was vandalised industries. And if you're a Seinfeld fan, you know, exactly what I'm talking about. When it comes to vandalise industries. We're gonna get into southern duds in just a moment. But a couple of quick news notes before we get to that. The folks in backward flag, which happens to be one of the beers. But even if the government gets back up and running Friday Saturday, Monday, whatever it is these guys are still going to be behind in pay. They're not going to get a paycheck right away. "Head is on this. But. Cool. Well, one of the things look there's no argument with the message at all the message is perfectly appropriate. The message is great. Here's my my problem with it. If they put this in the Super Bowl, this is literally the party killer. This is the one where everybody goes Wah, Wah, Wah, have discussion groups over chicken, wings and beer. You're just not let says this is an internet only commercial, by the way, where did you see it? I never saw official release of this yesterday. This version of it is internet admitted forty six doesn't fit into a television slot. So they could cut it to cut it to. But probably sixty that'd be my guess. And it if they were not cooled McColl piece is interesting because because radio can't see what we just did. But the that that part of the commercial is two guys getting street corner and a bunch of. Beautiful women walking by them. And then the one guy like tried to follow them while wearing a sleeveless t shirt. Right. I mean, it's like every stereotype ever he all he needed with a hard hat, but they decided you know, what we don't want to offend the construction. We we don't want to beat people over the head of this. So so then the other guys. Hey, beco-, man. Follow them sort of sort of a moment. You like it's the problem with this is not like you said, it's not the message is it's the form that the function. It's like what what why are they doing this? Why are they doing it like this? And and why are they doing with this idea that maybe it will run in the Super Bowl and and visit reduce Gillette does the guy selling you a razor really set the agenda here. Now we had now on the show yesterday. We had the there are three women that were on the cast yesterday. Who were there were all like this happens every day, and they kind of liked it. And then the question because of the message brought up the point that this is a good a good point. Is it are they really trying to talk to women who are making the purchasing decision about the razors now. Well, I liked I liked the commercial. Yes, I like the message, but you also run the risk of alienating your core audience a degree that maybe they call the people at your razor company here. So I if if the idea for commercial is to be remembered this'll be remembered because of the arguments that will create, but I just don't think the Super Bowl is going to help the message or the product that is the argument that the a razor companies shouldn't be in this that's part of it. I mean, I I think that we've said it a couple of times now that everyone believes in the in the sentiment, of course, of course. This room. What are people going to be debating that? It's just that. They shouldn't be telling us this. I think what Steve is hearing in his mind's ear right now is a budget guys at the Super Bowl the Super Bowl parties gone when the thing comes on on what the. Now, this all this politically correct crap wa. Right. I mean, that's that's. I actually offended by that guy. He just did. I think that's I think that guy's gonna be. I never I haven't been in a Super Bowl party where event that guy get off the Catholic. I can't handle this. He's make gonna make the guy palatable the comes every Super Bowl party and tells me what he did in high school. About how he plays Kevin Powell. But I my Sandberg is the only female in this room. Have you seen it? I've seen the commercial. Yes. Does it do anything for? I thought maybe it was I probably didn't think as much about it when I saw it as as is being given here, and I I acquired it in the same, you know, a few years ago when they had that commercial for domestic violence where the woman is on the phone. Calling nine one one thing ordering a pizza, and that was a that stopped our living room, our kids are like, you know, that was a nobody mocked it or anything. But I know this is I guess some guys some meatballs need to see. An example of what you're also counts as harassment. My point is if they run this during the Super Bowl, they will kill the message in the discussion will be about the fact that it was in the Super Bowl. Nobody's nobody's going to break down a Super Bowl and go, right? Turn the TV off. Let's talk right. No. But isn't just call meatballs. January fifteenth and we're talking about two weeks. Super Bowl ads are no longer about what act airs tonight, it's about the discussion majority of the public every year every year, and we're getting closer because changes are the majority of public still sees the commercials in game. Which is why they're getting five and a half million bucks for. I just wanna say I'm the same guy the same guy who's commercials. Also, the guy who lashes and look at all these high priced athletes out here. And what are they doing? And. I gotta go to work is that there's there's a whole they're trying to hit. Actually, they're trying to stop start a a problem, and they want you to eat less. Spinach dip this year is what Gillette is really all about people start having a fight in the middle of all of it. And it's I don't I don't see this as just like. When families and friends get together. Now, there's a lot of discord anyway about because things to argue about Trump arguing about this is that people are going to be talked about politics. You know, there's always that. I mean how. Hands. Who was it that the holidays Cleese don't bring up politics or please don't bring up filmed like mostly down. Sure, I think Anna has a good point though, about possibly appealing to the female brand of approver because I know like when Tiger Woods had his incident. My mom made my dad get rid of anything that had tiger without his book at golf magazine, whatever and she called the shots on what was going to be allowed. You know, Tiger Woods content in the house that the women by razors from it yet. Don't you allow the order? But yeah. Okay. Who has impressive. The dollarshaveclub guy who had a commercial ready to go. Somebody leaked it. Somebody like this is a cool Baxter sage advertising thing. But somebody leaked it from Gillette to dollarshaveclub. They had a spot ready to go right after this broke on the internet dollarshaveclub rolled it out as a direct counter to what they're talking about. There's a time and a place is essentially say, hey, everyone who likes to harass women come over. Ninety nine. When I was reading it online must be algorithm or something. But there were Harry's razor spots all over. Razer business guys. Harry never talk back to me. Stay what do you got coming up? I haven't talked to you since last year. Literally speaking doing the show solo today because my new co host Jerry Evans, we just got him broken in. He's joined the show back in November. He's refereeing JV game and running up and down the court along with the you know, the other the ten players and the other referees on the court and he collided. With one of the kids one of the high school basketball players and just tumbled right completely over the kid flip completely over Jerry came down and landed on his shoulder. Well, the floor didn't give the court didn't give Jerry shoulder did well, actually, his clavicle his collarbone any snapped his collarbone. So I think Jerry's basketball officiating days may be over. And hopefully, Jerry is going to be feeling a little better than he can join us back on the show next week. Plus global golf post as many of you know, has been around for the past ten years, dishing out online golf information and golf journalism and they've been so successful with it. Now, they've started a new venture an offshoot of global global golf post called global cough post plus in onto tell us a little bit about that. Steve eubanks. Hi, steve. How are you? I'm greg. Thank you for having me with you. Great to great to talk to you before we talk about plus which you you are now involved with. Let's let's for people who don't know global golf post what it is. And what it does. I mentioned it's been around has been like ten years now. Ten year. Yeah. We've gone through nine four years and was the first digital magazine. In other words, we never had a print magazine. It was all internet, basic pain in your inbox. And when I say, the first digital magazine, I don't mean the first digital golf magazine or the first sports magazine. It was the first digital. And and you know, we we're very proud of the fact that we kind of blazed the trail in that in that regard never having a print product. We understood quite frankly that people didn't care how the information was delivered. And so getting them really good golf content on a weekly basis are really supplanted, the the old wall all week model of a weekly news coverage adult one of the great things that also did was there were a lot of great Gulf writers and great golf journalists who lost their jobs who were doing newspapers who were doing magazines that with with the new information age and the the change in the way, people get that information. Those companies those those jobs folded they went out of business, but you were able to employ a lot of those guys that was great. Yeah. Were. It's like you think back into the old on. Wagon wheel. Well, when the car came along you were out of work. Wagon people you'll eat it. The mobile didn't float on air. So, you know, the white the creators of content. They just had to find a place where the people who were longing for that kind of information could still receive and global ended up being that hot for everybody. And it was great for us because we were able to go out and get some incredible talent right off the bat and people recognize that and that was one of the keys. So global Gulf post you've been it's been around this is its tenth year. How frequent is that and how often do and how do people read the information there? And how do they get it? Our weekly magazine still comes in your inbox. Every Monday morning backed by the time you wake up you should be one of the first ones in. And it's a free. Do go onto our website and click the global golf post subscription for one. But. And. We'll show up as a as an Email every Monday morning, and again, it basically the the the recap of everything that has occurred in all previously. Yeah. You know, and. Readership habits have had to change it used to be your grabbed the newspaper first thing in the morning. And you you went through it from from front page toback page, and if you were a sports fan, of course, you hit the sports section, and you look for golf stories people still do that. I know I still do it. But instead of a newspaper still get the newspaper, but you jump on your computer, you jump on your tablet or you pull up your your smartphone. And you do it that way is that kind of that kind of how it works for global golf post. Exactly how it works for us. You know, I, you know, I am widen. The demographic.

"I mean as I look at the schedule a half to a little excited from from March to July. You know, there's so much good golf. And I think it's cool that it's going to end it at Portrush. There's going to be such a crescendo, you know, it was always a little bit of a letdown to go from an epic open. Shame ship to some second rate PGA venue in. We're we're getting you know, swamp ass in the in the summertime, I think it's kinda neat. And it also means it can have more of my summer vacation in my kids. Like, I'm really a fan. Of the new schedule. I think it'd be good to by the way in that the phrase champion golfer, the year's going to be more when it is the last major them more of a lead of time to the Ryder Cup or the presence Cup, which I think now, of course, tiger being the captain's part of it. But I think for whatever reason I think the President's Cup certainly can't be worse. So viewed that way I'm not really saying anything, but I think is maybe on on upper swing. I think they'll be an important year for especially if the Americans lose in Australia did the last believe bust there. Yeah. I mean, I maybe tiger as plane captain is he should be the permanent plane, Catherine for the presence even ten years. So now because it's only thing that that makes different an interesting how he manages that who repairs himself with dust can be fascinating notice of ever cared by the presence cope, but I'm super excited about this one. Because it gives me a reason to do one of the greatest boondoggles. Her career full of them already planning a trip to go to New Zealand, the sandbelt Tasmania and kings island for this Gulf or g it's like eight courses in the world top one hundred on one trip, and I'm it's in kings island. There's this it's capable Wickham and ocean dunes a couple of in its Gulf porn, you gotta look at these pictures, and it's pretty close to Tasmania really where you have loss farms and you have barn. Boo ghoul. And of course, we all know the. Sand Bill and then in in New Zealand tar ED this new dote course, it's the top thirty and golf magazine's world one hundred and you have kidnappers, and you have Cari cliffs, and there's a couple others that are on on the radar. So Ansett is genetic coming with. Yeah. He's part of its usual wolf pack. These we've taken a bunch of these trips, and oh, but there's helicopters involved. It's like, it's totally outrageous. But as I've always said, the readers have a right to know, I do it all for the readers. And so it is Howard coming with in a manner of speaking. He's in my in my pocket. But it's the great thing is because the presence Cup and all these the people in in Australia, so excited to show off course to the world that is probably going to be that expensive trip. They're kind of helping out a few intrepid Americans. So I make one suggestion to invite Howard. Like thirty six day day after day. You can handle it. Okay. That's a good. That's a good tip. What else is there? Anything can you touch upon. I don't think so. Why shouldn't when what do you think about that washing road waffle house where we did our post masters, would you go back? There would you would you go to another? We're going to a waffle house. It's going to be that waffle house. We can't say now because we don't wanna huge crowd together. It could be awkward, you know, we're going to keep that one close to the vest. Yeah. I mean bones, and I breakfasted at a very fine. Waffle house just down the road from where they played the father son tournament in Orlando, but it's kind of actually to clean antiseptic in new, but I took a page from you have now.

"And that was the issue for calling Richards, the the alleged murderer, you know, he had a huge math problem in rewired, his brain. I think to the point that he just was not a functioning member of society. Clearly, and so to you know, I talked to the sheriff in this little town. And he said that the crime is gonna controllers there's this new term that I do my research the rural ghetto it's been used describe parts of Iowa that are just the crime the drugs, the the decay and. It was really is really disheartening look at American society, especially in the contrast Spain where you look at its homogeneous rural place much like we're failure grew up. And so you can't say, oh, it's big city or it's because you have all this culture clash that's not what I is. And they still have problems. So and then, of course, you you extrapolate throughout the United States. So it was it was it was a heavy piece. There's a lot of social science in. There's a lot of there's a lot of stuff that that that's pretty far field from classic. You know, golf story. But I think that that's why joy the challenge of. I think hopefully, you know, really get a lot of way it's moving just hearing you talk about it. But it's also Lester of of what we do we write about golfers for an audience of golfers and just sitting here listening to describe it already has been completely ABS. Absorbed in her life and times. But the starting point, of course, is that she is a golfer, and and that's very relevant. I think also not that this is the point of of the tragedy of us writing about about her life and death. But one of the reasons we expect people to come to golf magazine and Gupta comments were gonna tell you something you do not know in how it how it might have tragic consequences and far-reaching implications. Like the story does, but might be just something like you're calling about tyrant Fillon and match that that's a, you know, a different circumstance all together. But the organizing principle is identical were writing about golfers for an audience golfers, and we're gonna try to tell you something you do not know who's people's time is valuable and we've got to give them a reason to patriots for that. So let's let's shift gears here something a little more fun you, and I were both mind to go. Well, you got a little run down from all your traveling and didn't go, but I did. Go to the match and just for the quick minute on on my own experience. There. I was on the golf course watching and enjoying it. I knew they warn playing good golf, but it worked there still echoes entire woods. They're not good golf still pretty spectacular. I knew it wasn't. You know, there wasn't much chitchat. I didn't think there would be a tiger tiger being tiger. But I didn't realize what Zastava sill later, by the way. I'm sure Mark Steinberg did neither because he was actually chatty and slightly conversation with me on the golf course. Which normally never so he obviously knows going, but anyway, but that's old hat. We've we've we've analyzed that. But it's about your com where you analyze the match. But also wears this thing going, and what does it say about as as you know, part of the Gulf quote industry that were still so married to tires fill. All these years later. It's amazing. You look at the tournament champions field. The capitola. This is their best field in. A really long time. They have all these young stars. They have major championship winners and say, oh, there's no tiger. And phil. It's like they haven't played this Turnham in decades, and people's that still the narrative, oh tiger didn't come. Tiger gonna come. It's like who cares? Right. Because there but. Yeah. Going back to when I first reported the existence of the Matt that it was never a one off. I mean, these guys it's they created this LLC, and it it's a whole it's a whole business plan. They have and they're gonna take all over the world. It didn't even it didn't really matter..
