The Montgomery County part of MacArthur Boulevard is closed at Wilson Lane so those folks had to divert on Goldsboro to take Massachusetts Avenue to get into Upper Northwest DC. Loughborough, Foxhall, Military, Wisconsin, Connecticut and different places all have wires down or streets So closed. it's going to take some some winding your way around to get where you need to go. So lots of patience in Northwest DC. Same thing holds true in lots of North Arlington where we're seeing closures. Our top local story this hour After 12 years on the FBI's most wanted list, a man is back in Montgomery County charged with killing an American University professor in 2010. WTOP's Dick Oliano reports. 53 -year -old Jorge Rueda Landeros has been ordered held without bond charged with first -degree murder in the killing of Sue Ann Markham at her home on Massachusetts Avenue near Goldsboro Road in Bethesda. This is a significant here arrest in Montgomery County. Police Chief Marcus Jones says the FBI was tipped last December to his whereabouts. He ran to Mexico to evade arrest. The autopsy showed Markham had been beaten and asphyxiated. Police say Landeros had a personal and financial relationship with Markham and the two shared an investment account. Landeros maintains his innocence. Police say they have DNA linking him to the crime scene. Outside Montgomery County Police headquarters, Dick Iuliano, WTOP News. Just a week after police say Speed involved was in a deadly crash as a car left a shopping center in Fairfax County cops are trying to stop more crashes from happening in that same spot. We certainly saw the tragic crash from last week. Fairfax County Police spokesman James Curry says the goal isn't to write tickets, but police are increasing their presence on Burke Center Parkway. The hope is drivers will see the officers and slow down. Speed makes crashes much more significant the faster drivers go. Their ability to respond to anything diminishes. Even before last week's crash there had already been 12 this year. 2100 citations have been issued on Burke Center Parkway. Neil Oikenstein, TLP News.

So that delay downtown as well, we just had a movement we go through downtown, a lot of police equipment, rolling across the freeway, traffic had been paused as you were coming off of the 14th in case. Now we'd had activity long-standing since early this morning in the 6 o'clock hour right there just past the exit for the third street tunnel crash cleanup remains in the right lane of three beyond that incident is where we had motors at this point police officers slowly moving traffic across the freeway as the motorcade had already rolled through, so a late delay on the 14th three bridge, also some late slowing possibly as traffic was paused. D.C. two 95 headed south toward the 11th street bridge, just watch for any police direction as the motorcade continues to roll through. "One of our top stories tonight Ukrainian officials and media say Russia unleashed a massive missile barrage on cities across the country targeting energy infrastructure facilities, the barrage coming in the early mornings Thursday, Ukraine time, as air raid sirens of wailed all over the country, including in the capital Kyiv. It is the first such attack in three weeks. We'll keep you updated. Here at home, The White House has joined in the condemnation of Fox News host Tucker Carlson over his recent coverage of the January 6th capitol riot. He has been showing what you may call calmer footage away from the hand to hand combat and destruction that we know happened that day. Administration spokesperson Andrew Bates calls Carlson not credible. We talked about the rarity of The White House weighing in on such a matter with Washington Post live anchor Lee Ann Caldwell. Tucker Carlson's depiction of what happened January 6th just flies in the face of what Tom manger, the head of capitol police. And everyone that was here saw that day. And so it's an attempt to reset the record straight and to ensure that Tucker Carlson's depiction of it doesn't go unchallenged because let's be clear it was cherry picked and it was in fact false inaccurate. But what's even more interesting about The White House weighing in and Tom manger is how Republicans also are weighing in, you have Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell saying that he agrees with the head of capitol police that it was not a mostly peaceful day that it was in fact other Republicans are saying and insurrection. So this is re brought up the issue of January 6th despite the fact that many Republicans have been saying through the last two years that people need to look forward and not backward, well now people are looking backward again, relitigating January 6th based on what Tucker Carlson says it was, even though it was not as he says. Based on what we've been discussing, some people may be tempted to say this was a failure on behalf of Fox News and Tucker Carlson. But we also know that many millions of people tune in every night to Fox News not just as their source of information, but you can almost say conservative community center reinforcement of one's beliefs. It does a lot more than just deliver the news. And so are there people that are watching Tucker every night that now believe that this was the way January 6th was? Absolutely. These are January 6th truthers now. Despite the people who have been accused and convicted of crimes that day of entering the capital of the salt and other things, there are people who believe that it was a false flag operation, something that Tucker Carlson has said. There's a large portion of the country that does believe it. And so it does reinforce exactly this thought pattern. And this comes as the same exact time that more details from a lawsuit by dominion voting machines of Fox News is showing that in the days and weeks after the 2020 election that Fox News hosts intentionally misled, their viewers about the accuracy of the election because they were losing viewership more conservative networks. So this tends to be a pattern and there's a large portion of the country who only watches Fox News who will not hear about that lawsuit and will not hear about the controversy about Tucker Carlson's storytelling of that day. Washington Post live anchor Lee Ann Caldwell on Skype. She's also the author of the early two O two. The traffic and weather on the 8s and when it breaks rich hunter in the traffic center. All right, no change in Maryland outbound Clara Barton Parkway all traffic still being diverted to Macarthur boulevard due to the crash under investigation, inbound traffic is able to get by, but that bound again you can go no further than Macarthur bulletproof if you're on Macarthur boulevard. They've blocked off that left turn, which you take you down to Clara Barton served no access there as well. Just consider Macarthur boulevard to Goldsboro to get up to reverend. That'll take you out to the beltway. You can get to either loop of the beltway. So it just keeps that in mind. Now, elsewhere in Maryland, sounds like Howard county authorities are out with a crash, northbound U.S. 29. Right in the years, the interchange for U.S. 40 that's X to 24 unclear what lanes are blocked at this point, but there was a heavy response out there you may be squeezing by a single file as a result. Well, let's start out in the district with the delay on southbound D.C. two 95. That's from vending road passing east capital street, the earlier broken down vehicle was near bening road in the left lane that may have cleared. You'll find northbound D.C. two 95 slow off the 11th street bridge headed past Pennsylvania avenue inbound suitland Parkway a little heavy to the light at Stanton road. Now, northbound three 95 getting into the northbound third street tunnel on the ramp there, the right lane of two was blocked with the work southbound in the third street tunnel delays from New York avenue all the way toward three 95. This is the work along the left side. Pennsylvania avenue near Barney circle was a report of a wreck. If you're in Maryland the westbound span of the bay bridge might win a three blocked with the work, eastbound, both of your lanes are open. Goldsboro row between river road and Bradley boulevard traffic was alternating for that work crew. Now in Virginia, northbound 95 before 6 O 6 in thornburg, a single lane gets by the crash. You're staying right to get by. After that, it looks good into Fredericksburg headed all the way across the akkan and the Springfield. No problems on southbound 95, three 95 looks good in either direction, as does 66. It is the George Washington Parkway. Well, it looks like we have a funeral procession running through on the beltway in prince George's county. Right now you're seeing the slowdown or stoppage actually of the beltway on the inner loop near New Hampshire avenue and on southbound 95 trying to get on to the inner loop of the beltway where this procession was moving. So just keep an eye out there. If you're stopped, you will get moving shortly, just have some patience as the procession makes its way through. Now elsewhere on the beltway, your inner lip delay in Virginia is coming from the toll road headed toward Georgetown pike. The work in the left lane on the outer loop side, the work is in the right lane. On the George Washington Parkway, the work is in both directions between one 23 and the beltway with a single lane getting by with the bigger delay is in the northbound direction, you'll also find southbound route one in Fredericksburg between mine road and market street. The right lane is blocked with gas line repair, one 23 near Berkeley road and Clifton road that vehicle fire cleanup should be cleared. Also, two 36 or Main Street between old Lee highway and university drive the road had been closed for gas leak as well. Now in Maryland, southbound 29 after 32 near rivers edge road. The lanes had been blocked for the cleanup of a crash at times a single lane is getting you by. So temporary stoppages there, southbound, the delay begins near 32. Northbound has a delay passing the scene, but that's just a rubber necking delay the northbound side should have all your lanes available to you. Goldsboro road between river and Bradley, traffic was alternating for that work crew and causing a backup. "The stages here today 14 laps 15 laps in that final stages 33 laps for a total of 62 laps. Now the fuel window that the Pentagon who you talked to. I heard 18 laps I heard 19 left and even 20 laps from some teams. They will grab their calculators and work backwards as much as they can, because we are at a road course, however. Checking in with some crew chief. Many said, You can have a plan in place, but based off what they saw in yesterday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race, you have to be flexible and ready to do anything. All strategies are up for grabs here this afternoon and part of that. Is because of the tire. Goodyear brought this weekend for the story on that. Let's go to my pit road companion people, stony. Thank you, Kenny. We have a tire here that wears out and that happened yesterday in the Xfinity Series race. These teams have six sets of Goodyear tires. One is on the race car after qualifying five sets in the box, but as we saw here This racetrack does wear out tires. So when you try to play together that fuel strategy that Kim talked about with tire management. That's the recipe you want to come up with. Just try to make your car being position at the end of this race. Run to Victory Lane. It's going to be really something to watch is very fascinating. We've seen it for the extremely series all these years. We've come up here today We get to see it for the first time since 1956 with the Cup series, we'll have it all covered down here on a beautiful 4th July Sunday here in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, is indeed temperatures right at 90 degrees, and nothing but pure Wisconsin sunshine. Think O'Reilly auto parts. For all of your car care needs get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto parts, So get ready for the fireworks. And Mike Bagley. I'm gonna kick it out to you in turn number five. I can tell you that, From our vantage point here, there's not a seat to be had. People are lining the fence there jammed in the grandstands, but there's a lot more. This race track and a lot of fans down there by you indeed, turn five is on fire right now, because we've got a lot of people a lot of pop up tents, lot of golf cart sat here lawn chairs. I mean, everybody has hunkered in here We are on the driver's right side of turn five across from us to drivers left, which will be to their left when they climbed the hill. Nothing but a sea of tents and fans to their right just to see if fans I mean, they said that we could teeter on six figures. As far as attendance. I say about three quarters of them are hunkered in here at this end of the race track, and it's so glad to see it so glad to have race fans back. And these Wisconsin fans and those that have joined us from points beyond They have not disappointed and they are having a blast out here in turn five. They're going to everywhere around this racetrack now for the drivers. What about it? Not since 1956. And that would think that okay, Nobody in this field has any experience here. But that is not accurate. 30 of the 40 starters have run at least one NASCAR Xfinity series race here at Road America, and of those 35 of them have actually won in the Xfinity series here. They include a J. Allmendinger, Michael McDowell. Christopher Bell, Austin Cindric and just yesterday in his first ever race here, Kyle Busch adds his name to that list, but he's going to have to. If he's going to win. He's going to have to do it from the tail end of the field. Let's go back to yesterday during practice. When Kyle put it off the racetrack he did and put it into the outside fence had to go to a backup. He did erect the primary car. He went to the backup car, starting at the back of the field. Same with Ryan priests. He went off in the kink in the same spot damaged the left side of his race car. They, too, had to go to a backup car and then in qualifying today, Bubba Wallace broke the transmission. Team had to make a change on that, so because of that, he will go to the back of the field as well. So with that we are ready to go again. 62 laps stage one will be complete. At lap number. 14 Road America in Wisconsin, ready to go for the first time in a long time. The Cup series is here. William Byron Kyle Larson, Row one, and for the start from Goldsboro, North Carolina. It's the motor racing networks Alex Hayden. It's been 23,702 days since the NASCAR Cup series last race here in Wisconsin at Road America. And that's about to change. Erin Jones, running back of the Green Bay Packers puts their green flag in the air and we're racing at Road America. William Byron. Two drivers, right tries to get away with the race lead 40 cars coming up to speed in thundering down the hill into turn number one and William Byron gets the advantage. He has the.
