"To DJ le mayhew, I don't know that this Julie could be considered a bounce back season for him. He was so good before the all star break last year, and then the toe started giving him trouble. This is where the silver lining of the Yankees infield glut comes into play because they got a lot of infielders, but they got DJ le mayhew, who, you know, you don't know if that toe, which never had surgery this off season will hold up through a full year. So maybe you need those extra guys. Maybe you need to watch DJ lemieux he was workload and play him only 5 games a week, and you need those extra bodies. I don't know. You're talking about how athleticism is going to be more important than ever for middle infielders, particularly second baseman with the shift restrictions, while if he's out there running on a bum toe, you're going to drive him into the ground earlier than he did last year. So, you know, I think that the skills are there for DJ. It's just about whether his toe is going to hold up and whether the Yankees can keep him upright. So man, it's tough to say on both Donaldson and DJ but I would think the outlook is better for DJ. And at catcher trevino really sees that job became an all star gold Glover. He led the league in framing according to fan crafts. There is still a lot of hope out there for Kyle higashioka bat and he did seem to underperform some of his peripherals last year. He's got good strike zone judgment. So do you expect that trevino will still get the bulk of the playing time there? Absolutely. The Yankees love him behind the plate. They love him from a strike stealing standpoint. They're really gonna even more appreciate his throws over the first base. The staff throws. Because he'll give either more opportunities to pick off runners at first base. But also low key, he'll throw it over the first base just to give the pitcher maybe a breath or two between pitches, knowing that the pitch clock is putting him up against it and, you know, kind of have him against the ropes. So I think it'll be trevino. I think that Kyle higashioka, I know that Kyle believes that he figured something out in his swing, late last season, in August. Kind of made himself a little bit more contact oriented. And if you go back and look at his numbers, like I think he hit two 80, the rest of the last 30 games that he played in. So that's an improvement. And Kyle is such a smart guy. He really will figure it out, you think. But I think that trevino is the kind of unquestioned starter with Kyle there as a really high quality backup on the cusp of challenging him for playing time. Yeah, it's interesting you mentioned the back picks. Noah Woodward in his substack, the event scout wrote the other day about how sometimes there's a tradeoff if you're a catcher, lots of catchers have gone to the one knee set up now in part because it does help you frame low pitches and so trevino does that too. Often it can be kind of an either or that can make it tough to get up and throw and do a back pick quickly. But if you don't do that, you're surrendering sometimes you have to make a kind of calculus because on a pitch when you try it back pick, you don't get the chance to frame and also if you're down on one knee, it might be tough to do the back pick. You end up potentially losing strikes on those pitches, even if they're fairly close. So there's kind of an interesting cat and mouse calculus that catchers have to make. Yeah, they're in. There is. But Rizzo and trevino last year are super on the same page with that. They coordinate themselves and I'm sure that a lot of catchers do this. But they coordinate themselves on when that snap throws in a comfrey pitch. And I'm sure the picture is in on that to an extent too. So I think that there is some coordination there and when you are giving a bit of that strike zone control, a bit of that pitch framing superiority, when you're giving it away, you know it's what the possibility of grabbing someone gets at first base. I think trevino far and away had the most back picks last year. I think it was something silly. Like, I think he outpaced the field almost by double. So I don't know whether Yankees Twitter is representative of Yankees fandom in real life. But certainly seemed that Yankees Twitter was not thrilled about both Aaron Boone and Brian cashman being back, although given their longevity and given how operates it was not a huge surprise given that the Yankees all told had a fairly successful season despite the strange trajectory of it. So do those guys just kind of have unlimited leashes like is there anything that could jeopardize them? Obviously Brian cashman came back after his contract ran out. So is there anything they actually could do to jeopardize their jobs and should Yankees feds be happier to have them than they are? I mean, I think that Brian cashman is by far more safe than Aaron Boone is and I think that goes without saying. Just one from UC how long he's been in the job and how long he's been in the Yankees organization, really he goes back to I think a year before I was born in 86 and I think he's been in the organization for that long.

"They haven't really improved within a division that's incredibly competitive. So last winter, they go out, they send Corey Seeger. They send Marcus Simeon and I think that this is really an organization trying to restart the franchise and announcing to its fan base. Look, we got elite players last winner. We got elite players this winner come and watch his play. Does that make sense? And look, you're in Texas. You got to go big, you know? You got to bring in some big names to bring in the fans. What I'm curious, what are the next moves for the rangers? Historically, they've never run a payroll over 200 million. So are they going to push that up to that tax threshold of two 33? So that gives them room to make a couple other significant moves. I think they could use another starter. They could use an outfielder. I think Corey Seeger without the shift is going to have a monster year. There's some studies that have shown no hitter has been hurt more by the shift than Corey Seeger. So I think you'll have a big year. Marcus semi in after that's terrible start was very good that the final four months. So we'll see, but they got to add more to really make this move payoff. It makes sense to me that although, you know, my sense was that Grom might have been willing to put himself on a platter to go to the braves, that in the end they weren't the team that spent that kind of money, Dave, because they don't really have to. They've got plenty of pitching. They're an excellent team. There are other ways to go for them other than to lay out an investment on a guy who's really injury prone. Yeah, the braves have more restraint than any other organization and they can do it because they've extended all their homegrown products or the extended metals. And they've never signed a free agent to a $100 million deal. They've given those contracts to their own players, but never do a free agent. So I don't think ever in the cards for the braves to give de Grom a 100 million plus contract. All right, let's talk about some of the other news that has been made in terms of guys moving from one team to another. Cold and long gets traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Seattle Mariners, the Mariners we know we're looking for another left handed hitter. They were looking for a second baseman. And Colton Wong is one of those guys. I think the perception is with the rules against defensive shifts, it only increases his value day because he's been one of the best second baseman in baseball. Yeah, he and he's added some power to his game, doesn't strike out. Just kind of a nice, solid all around player. I know his defensive metrics actually did drop off a little bit last year though. I guess I've read. He played through some leg injuries, but he's been at two time gold Glover in the past. Exactly what Seattle needed. Jesse winker from reports out of Seattle and kind of worn out his welcome there. But he had a great 2021 with the red, so the brewers are hoping for a bounce back from him. So to me, kind of a trade that makes sense for both teams. We get word over the weekend that Brian Reynolds, the center Fielder from the Pittsburgh pirates for the Pittsburgh pirates, his requested a trade. I spoke with some agents who thought this is kind of silly. They're feeling was and he turned down a big offer during earlier in this off season and he's requested tradeoff. I don't really get the point of requesting a trader letting letting that get out there. What do you think? Yeah, you know, look, this happens all the time in the NBA, right? Par for the course, we don't see this and MLB and no offense to Brian Reynolds, nice player. He was an all star in 2021 when he had his career year, but is he a good enough player to demand a trade buster? I don't know. It's a little bit of a weird situation. We all get what's going on in Pittsburgh, you know, he's got three more years of team control, so I don't know if you're the pirates, do you want this guy on your team? You know, he's a valuable player. You'll bring back a lot in a trade. If you want an unhappy player, I guess that's what Reynolds is hoping for that the pirates will just say, all right, we don't want you anymore if you're going to act like that. But if I know Ben Charrington, who's a general manager, the pirates, and I know that, you know, this world of modern analytics that we're in, the front office is typically we'll hear a request like that and be like, yeah, okay, whatever. Yeah. We don't care what you want, what you don't want. Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not someone's willing to give the pirates what they're going to ask for. Which is a lot, given the, you know, the heightened need now for guys who can hit from the left side of the plate is Reynolds Ken and given the need for a center Fielder. I think the pirates are going to go, yeah, thanks for the input, we'll just see what kind of offer the, you know, the Toronto Blue Jays or some other team makes to us. Yeah, and I think don't you think the first domino here is Brandon nimmo signs. No doubt. He's the only center Fielder out there in free agency. So once he goes, then the interest in the demand for Reynolds will suddenly get a lot higher. So I think this will have to take a little time to play out. Yeah, I know the Yankees have talked about him in the past as well and maybe baron judge leaves. And the Yankees are left to pivot and do some other things. That potentially could be a way to go. You could build a build a an incredible shutdown outfield defense, which is in keeping with the Yankees direction recently.

"A chance to make outs it's brutal because that's this teams. Really good if you keep the ball in the stadium got a good chance of turning it into an out whether they have to crawl over a tarp or slam into a wall or or turn a double play with with three gold glover's I mean you can think about these gains that. They've been winning every game. It seems like there's a defensive jim that that jumps out at least one and it's not always the same guy in it does seem to me almost kind of like it's It's competitive but it's contagious. You know it seems like every guy's feels like if the ball's direction they're just gonna make the place and we've seen how that can be the opposite with teams that don't feel confident about their defense and it works the other way. I'm i like john. Lester said i recently asked him. I said how do you compare the team you play for now. Compared to go on you joined at the trade deadline. It's the mostly the same guys they looked. You guys look totally different. And he talked about confidence. I mean it's a real thing and the game and when you when you get it going you may claes that. Maybe you shouldn't make but then everybody else starts doing it. And then all of a sudden. It's just a contagious confidence kind of thing. And they've clearly got that going on right now. That's a really good brewers team. They may look bad in. The brewers are not playing well but the cardinals are having a lot to do with that too. Absolutely adam wainwright get strikeout number two thousand yesterday. He and bob gibson the only two that have ever done that in cardinals history and obviously a very significant milestone for ueno. Pretty good company right and absolutely dictating a fitting came on a curve ball and fitting that it came in a game. Maybe where he wasn't you know he's very ill tell. You wasn't at his best and look at what. The team does forum I'll tell you what i know. The dodgers are lining up next year's or for the wild card game If they if they get their in and they should and you know the cardinals now with the benefit of a cushion a little bit can can do the same with adam wainwright whether he pitches well or not damn. We've seen it over the past two seasons. They are at different team when he starts. And usually it's because the past two seasons because he's been really really really good one of the best in baseball as a starter but even in the rare times where he gets roughed up or gets bounced earlier get pulled for pinch hitter because he gave up a grand slam in the i. It's almost like they. They take it personally in the gotten scratch and claw go. Go leave it all out there for him. And you see that you saw it again in milwaukee so. I don't know that any team wants to wants to see these guys in one game in a one game play in You know surely the dodgers another and even the giants feel like they'd like their chances in a series but One game against these guys know thanks. Especially when they've got a guy who spent the past two seasons pitching as well as anybody in the game as a starter and adam wainwright amount and the more they win the more cushion. They're going to have on that second. Wildcard victim wrapped up pretty soon dan. It's it's almost there already. And if they can they can keep this thing going in chicago..

"Win a gold, Glover You know, you get things going your way, but it was really proud of the way the guys responded, and then it continued our backs against the wall against ST Louis, and that there's just so many big moments um and and that, and that stretch run things that you shake your head at, you know, good performances, backs against the wall were able to win the game. It's amazing that we were able to do what we did and come away, then sweeping Detroit of all teams in the World Series. That was phenomenal. That was just a classic end of that season for the San Francisco Giants, the ST Louis Cardinals in the pouring rain Rome on the hill, you know Scooter Oh, and second base with his head and hands up looking at the sky with the rain. It was just phenomenal and just a great memory and you were right in there the whole time around Wotus and You know, Now we move into 2014. And it turns into the Madison Bumgarner series because he was fabulous and taking you right to the Kansas City Series seven games. How did you guys feel going into that series where you were, You know, positive This was going to happen. And you think Oh, boy, did we run into a good American league team? That could be crown us and tell us here. Tell me what you thought going into that series. Well, I think after the realization that we're going back to the World Series again for the third time, and you know, every other year, I mean, we were, you know, a little bit shaking our heads and how we continue to play so well. We need to play, but I think when we when we got there, you know the experience that we had on the team. You know the poses and the Crawfords and the Bumgarner's in the list goes on and on. I think we were very confident Group. You know, we had Romo there. Cassia, Um, you know, was closing earlier, etcetera, but we were confident in the com group, and I think that's because we had been there before. And you know, that's one thing boats does, Um, you know, he always kept his wits. A bottom is always very calm through the storms. Not much reaction and and you know, that's the way we were. And so we we took the field. We really felt good about ourselves. But you know, Kansas City was really, really good. And you said it if it wasn't for one guy. I don't think we win that World Series was fabulous. It was just such an emotional game and So many ways that that series went back and forth. Game six. You guys just got beat up Bad game seven. You come back and the gate opens, and here comes a man on the horse himself. Madison, Bumgarner and That was phenomenal. And you guys had just been, you know, it just was so exciting just to watch the coaching staff and the players hugging each other, and it had to be another joyous moment in your career. Yeah. You know, it really was. And you know, the thing about that club was we were challenged with our starting pitching, You know, but we had such great competitors. We have Jake Peavy, Right. Who you know, wasn't on the top of his game We had, um Hudson, Um, which is what's his first name from Atlanta. Tim Hudson, The Oakland A. We had him and he had never won and you know, so in those guys were in our rotation, and you've got to hand it to Boetsch for mapping out the bullpen the way we did. We didn't get a lot of things from our starters. So that team is a little bit different. And we had a really use all the whole pitching staff and that might have been broaches best managing job right there to to win that World Series. Of course, you know, he made the decision of using bomb and And we thought maybe he'd go two or three and they ended up finishing the game. And that was a big call by him as well. Because you know you had your clothes are ready and bomb has already gone way more than you wanted them to. So Um, a great great moment. A great end to that World Series. And, uh, you know, Bumgarner will remember for forever in San Francisco Brown Road is joining me in extra innings as we continue after the World Series. A lot of things happen. Parades was one of the biggest thing three parade. You ended up going to the White House. Uh, tell me what your best parade was. And why. Wow..

He was rookie of the year. He obviously won those five rings in new york five time gold glover five time silver slugger but again hidden a career. Three ten in twenty years. All with the new york yankees. He had two hundred and sixty home runs. One thousand three hundred eleven. Rbi so certainly deserving of getting into the hall of fame and he was joined by larry walker and a few interesting tidbits on larry walker which kind of fits the moult. If you know or remember watching larry walker but prior to walker the rockies had never had a single hall of famer play game for their franchise so not even like be a rocky and in the hall of fame not even go year. Twenty jeeter goes from the yankees and then place half a season for the rockies. They they didn't have a hall of famer. Play a game for the franchise. They were the only major league baseball team who could make that claim and of course that is no longer the case due to walker getting in walker also became the second canadian in cooperstown. Joining only fergie jenkins as the only other canadian walker said during his speech quote. Thank you canada. I share this honour with every canadian. And i hope that all of us canadian kids out there that have dreams of playing in the big leagues seem here. Today gives you another reason to go after those dreams and quotes and continuing around larry walker if you guys remember when he got the call that he was going into the hall of fame. He was wearing this pretty outrageous. Spongebob squarepants shirt. Spongebob squarepants is on the left chest front and on the right chest front. It says eight no ordinary sponge. Well this shirt now has a place in cooperstown it's actually displayed next to an umpire's mask and old jersey and it is right there in the hallway at let's see in cooperstown so he then on his suit while he was giving his speech worry. Spongebob squarepants pin on his jacket. So he continued to show his love for spongebob squarepants. And certainly the shirt. That's in the hall of fame is probably one of the more outrageous items artifacts there in cooperstown but larry walker. He had a great career of course six years in montreal to start out his career where he hit two eighty one with ninety nine home runs. Three hundred and eighty four. Rb is but then really took off for colorado spending ten years with the rockies hitting three thirty four for the rockies with two fifty eight two hundred and fifty eight home runs eight hundred and forty eight. rbi's and then rounding out his career with two years and saint louis where he hit two eighty six with twenty six home runs and seventy nine rbi so a career three thirteen hitter. Three hundred eighty three home runs. One thousand three hundred and eleven. Rbi's for larry walker as to the all time greats were finally recognised and enshrined in cooperstown here on this past wednesday so now transitioning to the twenty twenty one class. Or excuse me. Nobody was voted in in two thousand twenty one so the twenty twenty two class who is going to get in who could potentially make it. Well there's quite a bit of new covers on the on the ballot this year. A lot of them are going to be one indict. And these are names that you would recognize such as marlon byrd. Carl crawford ryan howard. Tim linda justin moreno prince fielder joe nathan jonathan. Paypal bon peavy. Aj presents ski on your e bay. Have ryan vogel song. All of these guys are on the ballot. But i don't think any of them ultimately get to that five percent mark to remain on the ballot moving forward now. "By the corner of the backstop. And then he threw the ball to second base and threw it out into left center field. So Of course, the guy from third scored. But anyway, it's very, very knowledgeable. And, uh and he was a guy who did not. Get hurt very often. So it was very normal for him to get 550 over 600 plate appearances a season even though he was withstanding all that wearing terror of being a catcher, and I remember years ago Terry Kennedy when he was in Baltimore when I was doing the Baltimore Games He brought up Uh, Simmons and said, I think this guy should be in the Hall of Fame. I've never heard anybody say that before, but I I took notice because Kennedy was starting catcher and a good catcher in the game later with the Giants and And sure enough, here he is, so congratulations to him, and he deserves it, And it's high time that he got there. And Larry Walker. I guess we have time for maybe one more quick one, but Larry Walker, they said he was one of the best base runners ever. He didn't play a lot. He got hurt. But what a hitter and what a runner. I always thought that he was one of the outstanding players and he can kind of a bad records. His best years. All occurred when he played for the Colorado Rockies with the pre humidor. That was the greatest place in the the history of the game to hit. So, but he had already had some outstanding years in Montreal, and then later helped the Cardinals get to the World Series in 2004, and when he got traded there So just I mean, a great arm. A great outfielder. Gold Glover. Great baserunner power batting. He had all of it. So I do remember one of his most embarrassing games. A Sunday night game on national television. Joe Morgan and I were working. And it was Pedro Martinez first game back in L. A huge game for Pedro. He got traded to Montreal. And there was, I guess they were runners that I can't 1st and 2nd whatever it was, and there's a fly ball in foul ground along the right for your line, and Walker goes over, makes the catch. "So it's two thousand and three right. I was only like two and three years. Old during the two thousand three season for the marlins. But jeffrey loria was definitely not. He was the new owner second ear into his tenure. As the owner of the miami. Marlins if you i really encourage you all like i literally. He has no idea that i exist. But david sampson is. I'm a big fan of the way that he breaks down the business aspect of baseball because he was the team. President for the miami marlins. And he was jeffrey loria stepson. Ask for a while as well. But he was the president of the expos. And the marlins of until. I believe around twenty seventeen but that you in three florida. Marlins season was the eleventh season for major. For the major league baseball franchise in the national league. The marlins ended up playing the yankees in the world series. And it was. It's a bridge series. If i do say so myself. The marlins became just the second team in baseball history to win a world series championship. Despite being ten or more games below five hundred at some point in the season the marlins at one point in the season were twenty were nineteen and twenty nine. The marlins wouldn't get back to the postseason until last year in twenty twenty. It was really amazing but the the one of the big reasons that this team was so good is because they pulled off some major major moves in the off season. The most impressive was going and getting draw. Rigas the ten time gold glover they also traded for catcher. Charles johnson. Outfielder preston williams. Both of those guys came from the colorado rockies for four their leadoff man want bear on november sixteenth of two thousand. Two charles johnson was traded by the florida. Marlins we vic darren board. Pablo zun a- in preston wilson to the colorado rockies for one mike hampton and cash shortly thereafter hampton was traded to the atlanta braves for tim. Spoon bake bar. Margaret spooning bargar. She's me they also signed some pretty good I mean obviously they padraig is was a free agent signing. They also signed kevin. Laura from the red sox and they also Signed todd holdsworth and matt trainer as free agents that year. So they're opening day. Starters you had josh beckett on the bump. You had louise castillo at second base. Not the luis castillo that we know with the reds two different. Sto actually you also had one encarnacion and right field. Alex kansallis short todd hollandsworth and left. Derek lee was at first and mike. Mike lowell was at third base. Quantier was in center and yvonne. Rodriguez was at the dish so they ended up in the season. With a record of ninety one in seventy one ten games back of the braves for first but they did end up playing very very very well and so they got off to a very sluggish. Start jeff touring. The manager was at at the start of the season. He was struggling out of the gate and the tea and let the team to a sixteen twenty to start adding to that. Their three top pitchers were mark redman. Aj brunette and josh beckett. They all had eat they. All of those guys had endured injuries that season but beckett and redman were able to finish the rest of their two thousand three season on may eleventh tour. Borg was fired and replaced by jack. Mckinnon mckean who was a seventy two seventy two years old and began his major league managerial career in one thousand nine hundred ninety three with the royals and these guys in miami absolutely love this man so some midseason acquisitions. They traded for jeffco nine. Who was a first baseman. in exchange. For a couple of flavors they called up dontrelle willis from the mud. Cats they also called up ugueth urbina right. Handed pitcher decided. They didn't call him up. They traded for her beena from the rangers in exchange for adrian gonzalez and two other minor leaguers. They also signed aaron small an called up miguel cabrera. And that's the that's the. That's the biggest reason why i wanted to Why i wanted to bring in irc talk about this team. Specifically is because mickey was honesty this. The first team was on so padraig. He didn't play very much but he did play in eighty seven games for them. A wasn't a starter but he did have twelve home runs. Sixty two rb is he hits you. Sixty eight that season and had eighty four hits in his three hundred and fourteen at bats. He was he was definitely the guy that played the most out of every platoon flare rotational player He played in or mike. Lowell was the starting third baseman. Mike lowell led the team in home. Runs with thirty two. And rb is with one hundred. Five louis. Castio led the team in average with eight three fourteen average and the lowest average on the team out of their starters was todd hollandsworth. He was hitting two fifty four on the year healed but he only played in ninety three games. Derek lee was also on the team. Eric lee played in one hundred and fifty five games that year at thirty one home runs in ninety. Two rb is very very big for him. Pudge rodriguez hit almost three hundred just underneath it. Actually with eight to ninety seven average he also had a five. Rbi's on the year. They this i mean. This team had a ton of of the same habits on its talent like it's not it's not like they didn't have any talent but starting pitchers most guy. The guy who started the most games was a tie between brad penny and coral pavan. No both of those guys started thirty. Two games bevanda went led the team in innings pitched with two hundred and one but brad benny mark. Redman and dontrelle willis. All had fourteen wins on the year. Josh beckett had a three eight record. Carl bravado led the team in losses however with thirteen losses yet twenty five total decisions for 'em. He had four thirty-three average josh becky even though he had the least amount of starts out of their rotation that year. Aj brunette only got five or four starts before he was shut down for the rest of the year but beckett in his twenty three starts in twenty four periods is led the team in strikeouts with one hundred and fifty two which is really really impressive. Especially when you consider john willis who was apr any all star. He had one hundred. Forty two strikeouts in twenty seven appearances. Air twenty seven. Yeah twenty seven stars mark redman only had one hundred fifty one strikeouts in twenty nine starts that six more starts any. Didn't even have one less strikeout than the josh. Josh beckett was a stud back in the day that's not even a. It's not even a real question if we're gonna be really honest so during the season though..

There's nothing like a nice fresh coat of paint. Sometimes you just need to see something different, right? It's a different atmosphere is still baseball. You're still being paid handsomely, but sometimes you just need some different. I just wonder like are the Cubs resigned to their fate, because when I hear Rizzo and Rizzo, I think it's a good representative of the team. It's like it's nothing, man. You told him directly like your team's dead. It's over. You suck. Yeah, well, you will see, we'll just he did not push back like I thought you should have hung up on us. He would have said, Cap love You go after yourself. Click. Yeah, sure. That's what I thought he would have done because that's some fire, right? Correct, But he's just like, Yeah, but you what you ultimately did Cap as you beat the dead dog there. That's what you did, right? I think. Also part of the problem is there's no pressure on these guys, right? They won the World Series like we could be dogging them. All We want Anthony Rizzo comes on and cap gives him crap about. Hey, I'm going to live in the beer garden at Bernie's until you guys win again. Rizzo can laugh it off because Hey, guess what Cap I'm an all star. I'm a gold. Glover and I brought a World series. And guess what? 20 years from now, when you're an old man, God willing, you're still alive. You're going to be at the reunion. "Edwards, Benjamin Albright. It's called three or 3713, 85, 85 or 56690. Still monitoring the Nolan are not on trade that is official, according to John Marosi. Volume on Twitter at John Marosi is MLB network says the Rockies air paying Nolan are not those $35 million salary this season. The Rockies were paying that 15 million is owed to the Cardinals in this calendar year with the remaining 20 million deferred and as we understand it The upwards of 50 million total in this deal. The Rockies are paying. They will not have to pay all of it if no one are not O ops out. Yes. If he opts out, they won't have to pay the prorated portion beyond that s O. There's zumba relief, I guess, um But looking at the way I think the growth he said it best if you looked away that This thing plays out, Iraqis actually increase their payroll this year. I saw that by by the way, it is up working because they have to pay that salary and the added all of these prospects, they're gonna end up increasing their salary. This year. Now they'll save over the course of the next. Of course. What is it for? Six years will save some $150 million, But you know, it's again. You're down. You know how your bad team We said we're gonna save 150 million over the next six years. That's a way to talk about much money. You're gonna save And of course, we'll be on field production that you're gonna lose. There's just no way I can at least right now. See how these prospects Maybe maybe they turned out to be pretty good. But at least right now, how are they going to equal the level of a On annual gold Glover and a guy that that has the potential being M V p candidate every year because of his talent, But that's what I'm saying, like the conversation doesn't even start with the players, the prospects or any of that conversation surrounding the Colorado Rockies. Right now, the narrative that's out there that the team once out there. He's Hey, we're saving 150 million. We're saving money. I'm talking about the guys. You bring it in. You're not talking about the loss of that. That's how you know you're a bad team. When all you do is talk about the finances from attacks line. Trevor Story's next to leave. Maybe we get three minor leaguers and only pay 45 million to trade him. Progress. Good lord. Thank you, Jerry. This one trade von lock Fant Judy, sudden rise during our entire defense to get Watson. We got that There are plenty of people out there that make up ridiculous stuff like that. That's not it's not happening. It's it's not something any smart general manager would ever do. It's just a product of Broncos fans being that thirsty for a quarterback at this point. All right. So let's get back into this match Stafford deal and kind of the implications of it because there was a lot of way This was framed out in the public about what the Broncos were ultimately trying to do. It was framed as though the Broncos came to the Lions with a Hey, we'll trade you drew lock will trade you all these players where your reporting quite the opposite. They came to the Lions talking about draft picks, swapping a 1st and 3rd for a second and Stafford and the Lions countered with No, We're not giving you any draft picks. You will give us the draft picks, and we want all of these players drew lock Jerry Julia. Yes, Jerry Judy etcetera, So I think that's an important distinction, because, like I said, it's It's being framed right now. Is that the Broncos air shopping actively shopping They're starting quarterback on this roster. They're not. That is not really the case. And now what's important here is whether that's being reported by media or fans or whatever. What's important here is that the organization can keep at least that portion of the continuity of that portion intact because you do have to worry just a little bit about the ego here of your quarterbacks, because the fact is, if if you're actively shopping them, If you're actively trying to bring in other quarterbacks, there is there's a little bit of a purse. Exception there, and it could get a little shaky within that locker room. Yeah, that's the other thing every after pulling fans, so they all get this agenda and the guys that hate drew lock. You're going to say whatever that you know that right about a town whatever you know, they won't say, but that's that's not true, and they don't know what's going on, and it's just frustrating. It's not that we're sitting here standing for Drew lock. I just want to give you the fax. You don't want to give you what happened. There's something important here too, because the Broncos While they are trying to be involved in trades and look for upgrades a quarterback. That's a slight indication for lock and what his performance was last year. I think we'd all agree what his performance was last year was not gonna be good enough to say he no doubt gets the job correct. And and we're gonna make it the unquestioned starter. We're not bringing any kind of heads or anything like that. So that was already one piece of this. So people out there. I think our kind of frame this like, Well, you're already into the quarterbacks. You have to go all in. You have to make that move. You have to go get to Shawn Watson. You have to go being a trade for Jimmy Garoppolo or Kirk cousins or any these quarterbacks that are out there. The fact is, they don't necessarily have to do that. As long as they weren't the ones actively shopping him. I think they can keep this intact. Yeah. Is that weird? Logical, you know, follow me on now. I know what you're saying. And you're trying to hurt you. Lux. Feelings basically, is what you know, because then if you have to revert to him, then what you know? Well, that's right. That's a big deal, because if you misuse the thing, I don't think you're reverting to him. I think he's the guy unless you're able to bring in something, And so that's like, what if you're involved in all these traits like you're not. So that's the thing is bad. Reporting out here is bad reporting from people that are getting information secondhand that don't know what they're talking about it. So that's what we're trying to clear up here. Do I think that the Broncos would let go? Drew lock in a dish on Watson type of deal? Yes. Do. I think the Broncos feel like they're going to be in onto Shawn Watson? No. I don't think that I think they think they don't have the ammo to compete for that. And I think that they think that they're not willing to give up when other teams are now. Are they going to play the market there just to see? Sure you gotta make the kind you should every year. Remiss in your duties. The general manager if you're not exploring every option That doesn't mean you just do it just to do it. You're not giving up Justine Simons and Bradley job and three first round draft picks and a pair of second round draft picks and probably very much Jones on top of, you know, to be another place..

Fifty home runs in any season but yet was still the home run cake. He had a career batting average of three zero five and may twenty five all star games. Now you may be wondering how he did that in twenty three years. Well there were a couple of years there at the end of the fifties early sixties. That major league baseball was trying to help. The major league. Players increased their pension by instituting two midsummer classics per year. So if you may both all star teams you may four all star teams in two years hence the twenty five in twenty three years got gotta check out the rest of these statues though number one in major league. Baseball and total bases runs batted in an extra base hits number two at bats behind pete rose and number three in hits behind rose and ty cobb third games fourth in runs scored. He won the nineteen fifty seven. Nl mvp to time batting champion. Three time gold glover and those record twenty five all star games. Earning them in every season except his first and last he was inducted into the hall of fame in nineteen eighty to ninety seven point eight percent which still blows my mind that he wasn't voted unanimous as he was nine votes short of the first unanimous choice. Second only to ty cobb in nineteen thirty six now since then mariano rivera in two thousand nineteen became the first player to be unanimously voted into the major league baseball hall of fame and while i disagree because i believe there were many more players before him. That deserve that accolade. He was a great ball player as well and great ballplayers. They're hard to come by and it's even more difficult to come by legendary ball players.
