A woman trying desperately to get from the Philippines to Bremerton before a relative dies is pleading for help to get her travel visa approved. So we get more on this live from komo's Carleen Johnson. Well, last week Rusmindo galanga traveled to the US embassy in Manila to secure a visa to come here to help her aunt who lives in Bremerton. That aunt Beth Gohain needs all the support. She can get right now is the Kitsap. Sun reports all three of her adult daughter's have cancer and the middle one. News twenty nine years old is terminally ill. They don't. Give her much longer to live. She's at home on hospice, the girl's father, Paul Gohain died in nineteen Ninety-six of a SAFA GO cancer. They have all battled bouts of breast ovarian bone colon and liver cancers. And so the plea is for this woman to get here from the Philippines to help her aunt right now who is really struggling as you can imagine in these final days, she had letters submitted from senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, urging the time to to get here was running short. But when she went last week for some reason after a two hour interview that visa was denied we're going to be following up today with both of those senators office to see if there's anything that can be done about this. Carleen johnson. Komo news is more proof that Seattle's once hot housing market is still cooling off. More from komo's Kelly coupons. The numbers just out from red fin show bidding wars for housing have dropped to an eight-year low in the Seattle area. Twenty four percent of buyers faced competition from one or more bids in November that is down from fifty eight percent just one year earlier. In fact, red fin says the only Seattle zip codes where more than half of the offers face competition was in nine eight one one five which covers maple leaf Wedgewood envy ridge. I'll just a heads up driving over the passes could be a little dicey. Snow has been falling in the mountains. And komo's Denise Whitaker is on Snoqualmie pass this morning. The road crews are definitely doing their best to keep everything. Clear for people. The big news, though, is that this snow is enough for the summit at Snoqualmie to kick off its new ski season, they plan to open on Friday that is about a week later than average the summit's general manager tells us they've got a good eight inch base, and they expect more snow with the storm moisture in the snow, which is what we want this time of year. And makes it a lot easier. For gloom is to start really. Moving snow around. Snowplow drivers.

TV screen on seventy nine episodes of. The original transformers, and you know Stanley was. At marvel were, they may not in Japan Well we produce them all out of. Los Angeles animation was done in three different places Toey company in Japan Some, in the, Philippines and some with. A com- company in Korea we send the packages once we. Prepared the scripts the storyboards we had the voices so I was involved with all of that and, Star Wars and I was trying to, get Roswell, Galangue if I. Had released blowing America's mind at. That time I thought this could, be, huge setback you. Know and Selby felt. John Selby felt the same. Way we waited until everyone was dead. George. They're all dead the people. Are dead the professors daddy Helms orga Sidney Gottlieb we've got Humphry is. Gone, free Osmond is dad Bernard Aronson who was. Head of the head hit that this. There is is deceased Gohain who was president of Princeton? And Georgia. Have to say. I have to say. Because you asked me what it Princeton. Think when the book came out and the only thing I told you was well. The daily Princeton put it on the front page, they did, a massive piece on. It but when John Selby was having his fiftieth reunion it. Was class of sixty eight and he wanted to get permission to sell the book at the reunion, and to hold a a sort of, a beaten, greet yeah then. You'd meet and greet but also. To give a talk yeah and, have, students come who. Were there today to. Ask questions and maybe to. Talk about second Aliquo on campus today. All. Right they stopped him they. Shut them down they would not let him do it he was furious It. Should be Paul stay with us. We're gonna come back and take promise phone calls, next from those people who want to ask you. "Done by the CIA to a lot of people but the drugs. LSD Ten have some very, very positive and, I would I would agree mind expanding if controlled and positive influence and creativity, in my own case In my own case at one point I just. Decided abruptly I was? Not going to? Go to medical school but that I was going to go to Hollywood and. Work in the movies, when did, you disheartened you decide that I decided that the night I saw the premiere of. Yellow submarine in London Not really a great movie Paul I I loved, yellow submarine I. Liked the music the. Beatles but see, I had always been. Interested in animated from the time I was a, kid and I always done these little animated films and some of them were. Recognized and I was? Published in famous? Monsters a film land magazine when I was thirteen years old that's not bad Contest winner there I always wanted to. Do movies everybody around me said that that was crazy you know my father's a college professor my mother's a teacher growing up near Washington DC everyone who's anybody becomes a lawyer a doctor a, college professor dentist Yeah yeah they, don't they don't abandon their pre med education when, they've done well already on the. Med boards, and say to hell I'm dropping it, all I'm going to Hollywood it was a, really sort, of strange gutsy risky thing that I decided. To, do and and you know my mother? Called up relatives and she said you know he's throwing his life away? To, the date now what do you think the CIA doing did they drop, 'em kale, Tra and all this or something still. Going well they certainly would have changed the name and. Sidney Gottlieb before he died you know Richard Helms ordered all. The records burned it was an. Accident that we even learn about it they found? Twenty boxes. Of financial. Records behind them k. ultra and then people started asking. Questions. What, took you. So long to write the book good question good question we actually started this book when it was all fresh Soon after. The experience in fact in fact you know he he He quit Princeton in his senior year he he. Fled to California with his girlfriend. After the CIA had threatened him they still sent him his diploma even, though he never took his final exams and the president of Princeton John Selby says. Arranged that Robert Gohain arranged for him to get? The diploma, anyway. Why did they do that to shut. Him up, they were, yes he, hit, handlers And the. Handlers, that were monitoring him in Princeton continued to show up when he left. For California and and and then. He bad mouth the whole program at that to me he warned me, he said polecat out while you still can and the institute twenty two twenty three. Something I wasn't twenty three I was probably twenty? One at, that. Time all right Twenty or twenty one and the institute said to me, don't ever make contact with John Selby again, they he has he has. Had a schizophrenic. Break that we had nothing to do with. He was borderline for that kind, of thing on his tests even when we let them into the program we never should've let him in. And he's, flipped out and he's telling a lot of lies about us and this program and if you want to continue, in it don't talk to him anymore so I didn't I completely cut off contact with. John Selby he cut off contact with, me but six. Months later, I was almost where he was. When he left and I, did quit the program and I I. Was really in a psychological low point at. That time So we'd had no contact and then I, was accepted at the American. Film institute's center. For advanced film studies I went to California. I wanted to do this story, as the first movie I would make after graduating film school well George fifty years has gone by this. Became a, book this year yeah it hasn't become a movie in years But I. Looked up Selby and said we have to write this well we started writing it. Then when we were. In our twenties while he was writing books so he became a professional author he wrote so. Many, things he he wrote a lot of self-help books but he also. Wrote, advance and how is he still alive Oh yeah he's he's living on the west coast he..

"Felt Richard Helms and Sidney Gottlieb felt this, was completely justified but it was illegal illegal even under their own. Charter the CIA is supposed to deal with foreign intelligence not to experiment on. Americans. In hospitals and at universities and in prisons or, unknowingly wherever they may be wasn't. All drugs that they were using here they, had a list of well. Over one hundred drugs. That they were testing wow. And I think there's, a book called operation mind control that lists all those drugs I, think that's where I saw the list many of those drugs today Paul are still around I can't, answer that George I don't really know? But I but I, but I. Do know that with the psychedelics there's a whole different kind of interest in them today since some of them seem to have value, particularly for what do they call it, post traumatic, stress disorder TST yeah and so they're, looking at Silla cyb in. That way recent research. On LSD seems to show. It makes connections between, neurons that are normally not connected to the brain that can be, long lasting and benefits in some cases let me let me just step back and mention Ken cheesy, was also one of the subjects a? Little bit before me He's the famous great author who wrote one flew over, the Kuku snatched geez we all know that. Movie, I mean when like five Academy Awards Jack Nicholson but. He wrote that after the fact yes but he he was part of m. k. ultra and the LSD experiments let's see how do we know that these experiments didn't. Enhance people's creativity like yourself because I'm not sure. If you're an artist before that but you sure are now it's suspicious You ask a really really good question because? You know these drugs have been so demonized but I, I wanna tell you my own case You asked you know what did I think of Humphry. Osmond you know did I like him when I was in college I wanted to. Be Humphry Osmond the opportunity to work with. Him this I thought this was great and he was the. Researcher for people. Just twenty nine I I wanted to. Go into psychedelic research I wanted, to be a psychiatrist when, I was at Princeton I was, premed I fulfilled all the pre, med requirements, I even took the medical boards but The dark side of, experiments That I was part, of at the neuropsychiatric institute You know I changed my mind about that I got to a point where, I had enough. Just like John Salvi had enough I? Felt. Manipulated were, you scared at a certain point yeah I mean John Selby really did have a breakdown and the CIA really did make direct contact with them and threatened him because he was going. Public with some of this information at that time was anybody listening At that time wire-tapping, that no I. In terms of you know, did he have an audience for people are times he said did, an article there was something on CBS because he was doing research on Princeton, students that were using LSD and worked on a, a pamphlet about psychedelics that. Had the auspices of the Princeton mental health committee behind it and, he had many meetings with, the president, of Princeton at that time Robert. F Gohain this is in our book his encounters with Robert Gohain who later became, Nixon's ambassador to. India wasn't there a CIA agent that? Was. On LSD, in one of these tests and he, jumped out of a window or something and the family absolutely maintains he did not jump that they kill them that they pushed him but he. Was a biochemist And and he invented some things that, were he discovered. The CIA was using this to kill people in Europe and the family maintains that's why they got him there was a settlement with the family at one point and and but they always said it was. A suicide they admitted he'd been given LSD they said he jumped out, a window and. The family never bought that, and they they had him they had his body exhumed and they, found evidence of a blow to the head that wasn't connected with his fall, from the window so that's a really you know, messy business and and they. They do intelligence series I think warm would is based on that, particular Frank Olson case so George bottom line dark, dark things were being..
