"Welcome back by friends. I'm dennis prager and a professor on todd. Zoecke z. y. W i c k by a professor of law george mason university and a fellow at the cato institute in august believe it was august. Let me see here. you wrote a piece in the The wall street journal was august professor. There why gogga's that's right down is so you wrote a about why you're not going to follow your universities. Demand that you get a vaccination for cans covert in order to be able to return to campus and you cited the fact that you had in fact cova and in fact was was when you took tests. You've had the antibodies to kovin. They stay continued to stay in your body and so you sued. george mason. Is that correct cats correct and it's okay. Yup no no you go ahead. Yeah so i so. I tried to resolve this the nice way. Then it's wages. I tried to torch mason claims to the place the respect science that Respects truth so. I reached out over the summer After i contacted by immunologists and i did a full immunity workup including an anti bodies tests. That showed that my anybody's level With comparable to somebody who had been fully vaccinated And And there's more there's more than you needed that but this is sort of a slam dunk case is this is how you measure of somebody's immune protection listens how they measure whether somebody needs a booster shot for any for any disease whether it's measles or covert or anything else And so. I reached out. And i said here's here's the evidence They blew me off. I reached out to again. And i'd attached an affidavit from my immunologist as well as to leading public Stoller sir. I'm sure you're familiar with jay body charge at stanford martin cool dorks harvard. The presenting all the evidence to show this george mason again. Just blew me off Issue their policy saying that everybody had to get back and and so i reached out to the new civil liberties alliance at that point and some ask them to represent me so we brought a lawsuit eventually george mason and they're giving the medical exemption after all this In civil and changed the rules so that wasn't being disadvantaged as much as i had so the lawsuit itself has been resolved. But now there's you know many cases now following raising the same issue as vaccine mandates of spread around the country.

And Madonna looks like she's embracing her some people say embrace other people say a headlock Gogga's in her dress with her is closing clutching her Gaga and Madonna is in a very strange headdress and a satin caftan Ryan is this an embrace or headlock because these two have had beef since two thousand nine hundred back their feud. "It is an end it's become like this big buzzword and some of the predictions. I'm seeing is consolidation in that industry is people saying, you know, this was a big buzzword every big tech company started getting into this. And you know, you're starting to see that not all of them are are making money or finding ways to to really make any progress on some of these areas. So you'll probably see like with the the the bitcoin and blockchain stuff, you'll see some shakeout of some of these companies going away or somebody somebody, you know, kind of retrenching their investments and saying maybe we don't invest so much AI. But the thing I think on the, you know, on the social side is more of a backlash of people like I said with with the Amazon echo stuff earlier people getting a little bit more freaked out when this stuff starts to overreach of people kind of saying do I really want to these devices and the services knowing this much about me, I think you'll start to see a recalibration of, you know, people saying this stuff is going little too far. Maybe I don't want this much of it in my life. And then we're seeing with all these congressional hearing, you know there. Going to be under the microscope with congress. I think Facebook Google all these companies that collect all this data over you know, a enabled devices. I think there's gonna be some pressure on that side too. So I don't know that we're going to see huge strides because I think there's going to be more caution and more rethinking of like how much of the stuff. Do we want in our lives and into we wanna maybe take a step back and think about this little bit? So we're gonna talk a little bit later in the show about apple the Big Apple news yesterday that a letter to investors the lowering the revenue forecast. But do you have any thoughts on that? I mean, do you think that we are going to be buying fewer phones, upgrading less often? I know last year predicted that that that phone camera quality would lead people to keep upgrading because the camera was getting better and better based on the news yesterday. Do you have any thoughts on what might happen with with how quickly we upgrade our phones? I think that's definitely the case. I mean, my my last phone purchase was an on iphone excess because of specifically because of the camera because I wanted, you know, the dual cameras, and and that was the reason I gave myself permission to upgrade. But it seems like they apple a lot of it has to do with China. A lot of it has to do with the trade war. That's happening. And it seems to have just based on some comments. I thought cooked make this morning. It seems like the whole China trade were situation really took apple by surprise and was not anticipated. So that seems to be a lot of where they took the hit is is sort of political moves in these things that happened that that are outside of the realm of just me and you buying phones. I think that there's definitely some issues with China that apple is dealing with that affected that. Thank you so much for joining us. Omar gogga is technology reporter a podcast or he.

"Did you know, it's a new year year tech news weekly new show? Now our morning show so warnings zoo. All sorts of sound effects that we have planned for you. Now, I actually. Same show talk to the people making breaking tech news. I am Meghan Rooney. How? How it is a new year. Everyone is making predictions about what that means. But tech writer and podcast or Omar gogga is looking back at his predictions from two thousand eighteen and seeing what came true, and what's not welcome back to the show. Mar. So what was the biggest prediction that you made last year that did not come true at all? No, I thought we were going to find a way to lick this whole password thing like Shirley, someone who's gonna come up with a elegant way to you know, to figure out our password issues, and and find a way that we don't or not with these two jillion character ones. I thought that was going to be a big shift this year, and it it's didn't happen. And also I thought that an ending bunching was going to have as troublesome a year. It did I thought it was going to come to chug along and become more established and really toward the end of the year. We just how people kind of freaking out over bitcoin prices and blockchain and sort of. I'm a now I feel like there's going to be more of an exodus. This the first half of this year people sort of shake out of that industry. So those were the two that I feel like I was most off. Was just going to say, of course, the people who are really into kind of the crypto currency and into blockchain will tell you that there's nothing to freak out about right? Like, this is normal the direction that things head. You're smart. If you stay in do you do you buy that, do you think this? This is an opportunity year for people going into twenty nineteen. Is blocked him. The hardcore people saying like, no, this is good. This is going to take out all of the nonbelievers, and all of the people that are just in it for money that in a be good for the people that are in it for the long haul. So yeah, I think for them they are celebrating that you know, all the Johnny-come-latelies are going to be shaken out of the tree from from this. Well, that's the problem with all these predictions, right? Like, it's like a lot of people are comparing blockchain to the internet the internet. No, people doubted that too, and you know, people doubted Twitter and people doubted Google, and you know, so there's always that you know, that that those people that are like you just ju just wait. So you run the Twitter account, Omar stir domes-. You did make some some predictions. That did come true, which ones did come true. I definitely that. We were gonna see. I mean, this was this was a pretty obvious one. But that we were going gonna see more of the Alexa, Google home type stuff appear in more devices. It was going to be more widespread than just what Amazon and Google is doing. So you know, we're starting to see it in car devices. We're starting this yet and other speakers not made by Amazon so that whole emergence of voice tack going wider going into more devices into more places when we started see that like probably two CAS go. But I think this last year was really when we started to see actual product that you could buy at the store, and that was useful. I mean, I I think definitely in the last maybe three or four years all of the Alexa, Google home stuff. That's been to me, the probably the most exciting segment of definitely of Hometec or any of the internet of things. It's making all the stuff. We thought five years ago is going to happen. It's finally starting to happen largely on the backs of of those technologies. I mean, the popularity of that has only has only reached the level that it has because the price of these entry level like hubs be at the echo via the Google home, mini or whatever they're so low. And I mean, even around the holidays, they were pushed even lower that it kind of didn't make sense not to get one because for like twenty bucks, you get one of these suckers..

"Was being interviewed by Andy Cohen, and she named Chuck me blaming or partly blaming me, I won't even. I like to be accurate. She attributed blame to me to her album bionic flopping, and I sort of loved that. She was talking about me and even though I regret what I did genuinely because that's when I was really bitchy Peres because a lot changed it has. I don't have the I I don't. I'm not like trying to destroy anybody. I, I was an account I was. It was like a, it was not cute back in the day with Christina Aguilera and really that. Oh yeah. Yeah, I guess I don't know the ins and outs of how bad it was well, because it was around the time that lady Gaga and I were really good friends. And back then dog and I were close, we would talk. I mean, it's so funny because I think she was the last friend I've ever had that I actually spoke on the phone. With we would talk and catch up and brainstorm and share ideas, and we would tax and I would see her all the time. So she would go back that I do think she's changed for the better thankfully. But when Gaga was in the middle of gogga Mamia which now she's very famous and popular, but there was a couple years or that it was straight up gogga mania back then. She would think that everybody was copying her. This person's copying me that person's copy me. So she was always mentioning how Christine was copying her, and she wouldn't verbatim say, oh, you should write a post about this, but she would. She would bring it to my attention. I see what's to it. She baited you a little bit. Yeah, totally. Can you did you save? Christina? Did on my God. He believed it. So that's what makes us whole war kind of stupid because she's equally as fault as you're no, no, I'm not blaming Gaga at all. She's not coming out. I would say she's not to fall. Nobody forced me to do anything. Okay. I wasn't adult. I take. -bility for my own actions. Okay. I apologize in my video and I will policies again, and I was just mentioning that I was in depressed because I always get a boner when I'm talking about even if it's in a negative way. I've noticed speaking of lady Gaga and Boehner's I mentioned at or I think I mentioned this whole star is borne movie isn't for me. Did you watch it? No, I didn't go see it yet. I really wanna go see it. I'll get around to it. I'm just waiting for a screener. You don't go to watch movies like the theater Cording to reports. Disney is eyeing Gaga to play Ursula in the live action remake of little mermaid that they're working on, and that I am excited about speaking of musicians. A lot of them performed at the American music awards last night, not last night. Last week was like a unit coma. Feels like last night I swear to God. "Like maybe it's time to let the old ways die. By bright and then also like what he's by the wayside. Right? He's being tossed by the wayside. It feels really on the nose in that way. And certainly if it's in service of the story to propel it forward. Sure, it can be that. But there's also a tricky things going on in particular Gogga's rallies popped south later on, right? Where particularly the the booty song she sings when she's on SNL where she straight up, says like this is not me. Which is again, like, I'll sure I'll read it from the perspective of in certain ways. She's not being true to her own artistic integrity, but at the same time, right. The movie doesn't condemn her in doesn't go. It doesn't look if they really wanted to make her seem like a sell out. They could have made that song a lot worse and made it look completely ridiculous. It's something that people love. It was a well received popularly, but it was sort of like a self pirata type of thing. They didn't go there. So the music on one hand says a lot what the characters are saying, but in other handed it, it doesn't it. It's it's got some other motive going on. I don't know Peter mad like what's your read on the on the lyrics guards story in the characters. What's those two songs in particular and I'll kick it to Matt you because I want to hear what yes to say. There's, I feel like there's a second meeting that helps be moving outfielder simplified because yes, Bradley Cooper singing about being left by the wayside and how it's time to let the old things die, but keep in mind like he felt that way about his ties life since he was a child. This is not like Bradley Cooper, he's not an ageing rocker seeing about aging even though that's why. Seems to be like on the perpet- on the surface, what he is elected child singing about being neglected. And so what he says, maybe it's time to let the old ways die. Think about the grief he has when he goes to his father's grave and finds that it's not there right? It's like no, actually he wants the old ways like he, he always trying to figure out the old ways. He's trying to be his big brother and he's trying to he's, he can't go back to China because not because he hates it, but because it's too painful for him. Right because maybe maybe even because he liked it too much or is on some level because he wants to wants to go back as soon as he gets the resources, but he can't do it. And so this idea that like if you really wanted the old ways to die, would it be dressing up like Eddie Vedder, you know, ten and like singing country music. He's seeing this because he thinks that what this is what the world means to him is asking him, right? He sort of communicating this feeling, although at the same time, the other side of that is then what he writes, the song that gets sung at his funeral. It's like more of a modern day hip hop. He got a or a b. Scott song. It's not an old timey folk song. I want go so far as hip hop, but it is more of a pop Rb I likened it to the love child of, I believe I can fly and I will always love you. Yes, yes, I would describe. I mean, when I say hip hop, I think our Kelly is a little bit more hypocrisy that like chat Croker I guess I'm making hip hop and Rb which is. This is a movie about John earn about style, so we can make those find distinctions, and I will. I was lovey, of course, is important to remember that it originated as country song by Dolly Parton..

"As variety reports, despite the fact that a star is born which is also opening on Friday has already drummed up significant hype garnering ninety five percent rating on rotten tomatoes. A. words, buzz. Gogga's fan base. Sounds weird to say that Gogga's fan base is apparently taking it upon themselves to make sure the movie gets us much opening day attention as venom. Once the social media embargo for venom broke, following the superhero movies, red carpet, premiere. Some Twitter users notice negative reviews floating around Twitter, but it was noted that many of these critics use the exact same wording. So that's that's, you know, that's plagiarism or is it just the machine making up these tweets? One tweet that seems to be copy and pasted from several accounts reads, I am the biggest marvel fan, but I just watched hashtag venom and I don't know what to say. And I think that's a positive when reached by BuzzFeed. One of the accounts who shared a fake negative review of venom told the outlet, it's us Gaga fans who I believe are. Called little monsters. Right. Is that I don't. They monsters. Maybe. I think her fans little monsters. Isn't there a song? I think song that she sings. Yeah, I think they're monsters us Gaga fads creating fake ID's to trash the venom premier, and get a beer. Something fake ID's. They both are getting released on the same day. So we want more audience for a star is born just found the feud, somewhat hilarious as if either film needs the other one to fail in order for the other one to become successful if they are truly Botts making these negative reviews for venom and vice versa. One on fandango us review where it's like, I think with a star is born there is if you buy tickets through fandango, you get a free digital download of a song release, which is a much better deal than venom and where the comparison cover. So some of them are a little bit more blatant than others. But still the should probably be for not both will do quite well. This weekend a star is born is having, you know, going to have the staying power that will last award season venom is getting trashed to buy real critics, which reminds me a little bit of the movie pass production of Godley where they had a bunch of fake accounts.

"She's actually opening up her little life for you, and that's that's the the level of of thought and execution that goes into branding for stars that are the size of lady Gaga is something that most people probably don't consider think about. It's so tactical though, like if you don't think she knows exactly what she's doing all the time you're dead as wrong. Yeah. And this piece also talks about how she is preparing for Vegas show. She talks about how much he loves Vegas has she doesn't think it's an old person career killer any of that stuff. But also how there's like a choreographer and music. Like there are twelve cars taking care of Gaga things at the gogga complex. At all times, it's easy to talk good about the Vegas deal. You've got going when you sign a hundred million dollar contract to be excited to go Vegas to fuck. Yes, absolutely. Dude, here's the thing I completely agree with her. I don't think beg is the Vegas circuit should be looked at as like a place where Popstars go to die. I don't think that at all. That's what it's being treated like right now, and she might be a store. Yes, it's changing. It's changed. They've got it set up now to where like dude, if you're in Vegas, which people in Vegas all the time for different reasons whether it's work or or pleasure to gamble or a bachelor bachelorette party or whatever. And you hear like, dude, lady Gaga playing over the GM. You're gonna go, you're not going to not go. You're gonna go. That's how I ended up. You saw kid rock, right? That's how I ended up at that fucking kid rock show, and I'm kid rock is definitely an example of somebody who is a little more washed needs to be there to do that for the money in the in the fame and whatever. Lady Gaga need to do us Vegas, but why not a hundred million dollar contract? And you can still record keep album's coming out new songs, even get some travel in. There's breaks in her little stint that she she likes it because she can also fill movies and obviously projects Los Angeles, very close by. Yeah, it's she's got seventy four shows spread out over two years in Vegas, which is as the column puts it a reasonable pace that will allow her to take better care of herself and make more movies good for her. I personally like when she when she was first blown up, I wasn't big on Gog. I just thought it was annoying and weird and I've just gained more and more respect for her with every single thing that she's done. And I think is far as being an activist and fighting for equality for different groups of people. She's fantastic and I did, I'm she's got a fan in me for sure. I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to her music a lot of the time, but she's got some songs that I absolutely. A blast as guilty pleasure, jams and all in all. I just don't. I've never heard anybody that has a bad thing to say about the woman. Other than that, she's a weirdo, which is not really an insult. If if I'm the one analyzing it, I'm all in on weirdos. "Gogga intercrew were headquartered that no riina north of houston brian signed the confidentiality agreement and was given the full debrief at the very end of her performance lady gaga plan to jump off an elevated platform and she wanted to catch a football as she was falling into an offcamera film pet it would be brian's job to throw her the ball brian was told that in earlier rehearsals gogga's crewmembers had played the role of qb the completion percentage was not one hundred percent there were some obstacles the first was the ball itself it had been bedazzled manipu crystals in every corner of the fame including on the laces it was as slippery as you can imagine it weighed four times more than the normal football with all that stuff on it then there was the angle of the throw the tv cameras needed to be directly in front of lady gaga so the toss would have to come from the side that meant the pop star with going to have to jump toward the cameras while looking to her right to catch the ball there was more to do thankfully brian made a quick connection with his new receiver she sort of instantly disarmed me i mean she knew my name she knew a little bit about who i was so there was sort of that instant com she could have just done her thing and treated me like i wasn't really there but uh but she didn't but over the coming days and nights of rehearsals brian had a lot of time to think about his return to the football field he started to worry this was the end of the super bowl halftime show this was going to be the lasting image and if she didn't catch that football whether i threw a great passer not everybody was going to know my name and it was not going to be for a good race and finally it was february faith game time or rather halftime.
