Saharan Dust Cloud Arrives At The U.S. Gulf Coast, Bringing Haze

"It's a journey. That's a weeks and spend thousands of miles across an ocean floating on currents of air today, a massive cloud of dust from the Sahara desert arrives in the southeastern United States to walk us through this meteorological phenomenon. We are joined by Professor Marshall Shepherd. The Director of the atmospheric scientists program at the University of Georgia welcome. Thank you for having me okay now. I've seen the satellite images, but. But tell us what it's GonNa. Look like from the ground as this wave of dust from the Sahara arrives in the United States. You know we give these things every year and some are bigger than others. These are this year quite large and so I think that's why it's garnering much attention. Typically you lose the blue sky for more hazy Milky Sky. You tend to see more vivid sunsets and sunrises because. Because of the scattering properties of the dust and interacting with the sunlight, so those are sort of the optical effects, but I think people that suffer from allergy to dust or particular matter, they actually might not find it so amusing. They may have some health issues Why is it so much bigger this year than normal? I think one thing that happened this year are e.. Is that that dust in the? The Hell region in parts of Africa sat there, and just collected because the the wind system this African easterly jet meteorologist talk about it took a bit longer to kind of get itself going, and once it gets going, you can belch and Burp that dust out into the Atlantic, and that's what we're seeing now. Because there was somewhat of a delay, there was a lot more desk sitting there the build up. All right so pros you said good sunrises and sunsets, cons, people who have health problems might find that the respiratory problems are worse. What else is this dust system? GonNa do I mean on the whole is a good thing or a bad thing you know one of the things is an earth scientist. The Earth is so connected, and this is just another example so these dust storms they actually can fertilize the oceans in parts of Amazonia. They're carrying things that really help those ecosystems. Ecosystems but on the flip side of that there's been studies recently say they can actually carry pathogens as well so when you think about Mosquitos as a vector born disease carrier some argued that these dust storms can be vectors, they can carry pathogens another perhaps positive however is that the dust? If there were to be a hurricane forming out over the Atlantic hurricanes don't like the dust. If the dust gets into those forming systems, they can weaken those storms quite a bit. How much? Much bigger. Is this one than what we would see in a typical year? You know it's interesting. I saw a colleague tweet scale. They were using some data from NASA NASA Sir several satellites up monitoring air, quality and air constituents, and literally this event was off the chart. It wasn't even the same type of event. It was just so far off the plot scale, and so four people who study atmospheric science like you is a moment totally nerd out and like remember where you. You were when the Great Sahara Dust of two thousand twenty came across the Atlantic I th I think it is I I've seen some sort of very hyperbolic terms like the Godzillas dust storm. Those types of things I don't i. don't tend to like us such hyperbole when I talk about these things, but it is an anomaly event. My good friend and colleague Tom Gill at the University of Texas El. Paso is an expert on dust storms I know he's geeking out on this. I hosted a podcast call, weather, geeks or the weather channel, and we use the term geeking out. I'm certain it. Scientists like Tom. Gillard geeking out over this dust storm. Marshall Shepherd is the Director of the atmospheric scientists program at the University of and former president of the American meteorological. Society thanks for talking with us about this monster dust storm. Thank you for having me.

Yes, and they were right lever name, and they were right What are you about to hear here? Luckily, the camera wind is coming from the West I came across this. Video Tim Sanfer re tweeted and it's just. I'll read what it said here at the top here. Shirtless White Dude with a man bun calls a black. DC COP. The N. Word in defensive black lives. There's a lot of videos going around of cops doing things they shouldn't do that. Really bothered me, but there's also videos like this one. Here's a shirtless sued with a man Bun. Why does a shirtless in the hairstyle make any difference I? Don't know just it makes them extra annoying. And knowing that the Cameras Everywhere and ninety percent of police are never going to do anything they shouldn't do. He's taking advantage of that by just abusing them. Play a little of the order. He's right in their face. By the way he's got his face, his nose like right up to the plastic shield on their on their helmets is. They're ready to try to quell riot. Entire things I POST Your mom? Molded Johnson. From. So if you have trouble hearing that, he's saying Europeana, ask your mom thinks you're a piece s everybody. I watched the whole thing and it makes you so mad. I WANNA fight that. Eight just what a jerk and it's complete! It reminds me a win. Fans get in the face of players. It NBA Games similar sort of thing. They can't do anything to me and I'm acting like I'm tough or tougher than them, because they're not reacting to me when they have more to lose escalates and what I'm trying to escalate, it'll cost them millions of dollars if they punch me. I might be able to sue them for millions of dollars. But the the weird thing is you get some sort of feeling of being a tough guy out of it, which is strange, so this guy knowing the tough guy anyway knowing that he lives in a country where they won't beat you down most likely. He goes with that just week. Rant against the police. Get going up and down the line getting interfaces, saying horrible things including a black guy, the N. word frigging believable. Why is this guy not being outed in dachshund ruined? I'll tell you. I number one people on the right generally don't do that number two such a piece of crap. There's no need he's I hereby sentence him to being him for the rest of his life, which is really a devastating penalty. There's a lot of places in the world. Though you talk like that to a cop, and you're going to get a stick in your head, oh yeah their place in the United. States were that would happen, and frankly you know on rare occasions. I'm pro vigilante justice. Go ahead welcome in the year. But Oh my God, and so the restraint that the police have to have to put up with that kind of person who's just abusing the law and order that we do have really maddening. Yeah, you know it's funny. That guy dropping a bomb on that black COP. It reminds me something I can't find. It. I came across earlier today. It's a young woke. Black adults angrily lecturing their elders, who actually endured awful racism. In the you know the mid. Twenty Twentieth Century and how they're screaming that the elders don't know what they're talking about, and they don't. They're not woken up I. Mean Oh, boy! That would be a little tough to take. "godzilla" Discussed on The Big Ones

"Hi everyone and welcome to the big ones. Oh shoot you early up and this is your daily big ones and today is an interesting day hold on. I have to close the curtain behind. I know you're so backlit so I'll take over here so today we're doing. We're revisiting our most controversial episode the Godzilla Dilemma. So we you know notoriously couldn't wrap our little brains around it pissed off a lot of the wrong people and some people loved it so today we are going straight to the horse's mouth and we're having a guest on who originally submitted the dilemma to walk us through it. Yes and so. We're going to let in Adam here. He comes Hey Adam alot how are you know? Goodness what a treat this a treat for us. Oh sorry so Adam. Where are you coming in from? I'm in New Hampshire Southern New Hampshire. And how are things in southern New Hampshire? They're fine we've got low cases but We also have. Our motto is live free and die so we have a significant number of people who are kind of jerks about solving. Oh Anna thank you so much for coming on this was I mean a long time in the making because I don't know if you know this but the Godzilla episode has has parted. I mean it is divisive. I think is what you're trying to say to see. It's part of the seas of the big. It's the big ones. See where you're like. What no Moses Moses yes. That's right so Adam when you submitted with the best of intentions the Godzilla dilemma and then you saw that we had done it in an episode. What was that like for you? The from the high of seeing that we were doing it to the low. Low of hearing the chaos that ensued first off. I do not think it was a low low. Those some other people's opinions on it was pretty exciting to see it happen. I'm maybe not since back here. It's just that's my thing on the Godzilla Guy I love it and I thought it would be a decent one two of you guys to cover like sacrifice and film. It's something that's happened in a lot of films and I was thinking also that there was a new movie coming out of time so I was like this might be a good episode of them. There's new movie coming out. Get those downloads. Yeah you were thinking you were thinking two steps ahead. You're thinking not only. Is this a good dilemma? It's great marketing. It's you know you were. You had the best of intentions and they say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Yeah and just to put a visual for the For the listeners. Behind Adam seems to be a wall of what looks like Godzilla figures and then coming in from the left side of the screen is some sort of okay. There's there's about twenty more godzillas over there. There's there's on the wall how many goods okay so now. We're getting a three sixty of his room. There's even more godzillas on every single wall is one production. Designed his his room to be the Godzilla and monster on it. And so is it specifically got zillow. Or is it kind of all monsters? I'm a big fan of all monsters. Mostly Godzilla good answer. He knows all those Godzilla listening to him so I think it will. Have you do Marie Layout Dilemma? For us and see that time we can get it right. Yeah Yeah so. Maybe just pose it to us again. Let's see if we can if we can answer this the way it should have been answered day one so you are a scientist and you've got nine patch and you have invented whether by accident or on purpose this new weapon. It's called the oxygen destroyer and it completely destroys. It's like a little bomb that completely destroys air for a a wide radius. And then somehow disintegrates all life and so you've made his weapon and you're like Oh this is bad as can't then unrelated to that Godzilla appears this giant radioactive monster who wreaks havoc on Tokyo completely destroys at one night Z. Government necessarily the government To people who are close to you your fiance arranged marriage not grape and her lover who sailing Come to you because they know about the action story. And they're saying hey. We think this is the only thing that's going to be God's will and you have to decide whether or not to use it now in the movie The doctor Sarraj our the man who creates destroyer. Decides to sacrifice himself wall killing Godzilla. So that the secret of his awful weapon can never get out because it dies with him exactly and I think in the episode there was some confusion in the way I wrote it. I made it sound as if if you use it. You die that there's no other way around it but that's not the case you can deploy without killing yourself. It's it was his a noble sacrifice in his mind would not necessarily as mine. I think. objectively is. Why he stayed down there with the weapon. That allowed to destroy him and Godzilla because he was afraid if he'd lived that they would be able to entice him or threaten him to give the recipe for the oxygen nature. I mean listen. This was about to say is true story. There is a Japanese director who was kidnapped by North Korea to direct movies store. Them they're willing to do that to make movies. Imagine if they could get their hands on some massive ERTA wealth or they kidnap someone. You love and say you give us the recipe for the Oxygen Oxygen. Nater OR WE'RE GONNA KILL. Your whoever you you've got the mindset of a Bill Maria. I know that okay. We were both confused by the dilemma. The first time around but I think you specifically could not really wrap your head right around my head around us them understand it better now. I still don't understand why it has to die with him why he can't give it to somebody else to us. Oh you would want the most destructive weapon in the world to exist in humanity. We'll just someone else that willing to die with it. 'cause you're saying if you use it you don't necessarily die with it right. You know. He want he chooses to die so he knows how to make the action destroyer. It's in his brain the thing that's Kinda unique about this is like you know savior. Atomic bomb was a bunch of people. Making that you're the only one who's ever made this action destroyer. You're the only one who knows anything about it. So it lives and dies with you and so killing myself is the only way to protect humanity. Yes basically yeah. That's well that's why I'm you know. I got into comedy so I don't have to. I don't have to have all that knowledge at my head. Well I'm a fan of humanity but I also don't want to die so I don't want to have to choose to me is also. It's also kind of like the captain going down with the ship. This guy probably in some ways feels like he created this month this Frankenstein. And he feels responsible for it and so impart. It's probably his noble duty or his guilt. Even though it's the oxygenated is doing something really good because godzillas bad correct well but not really right and Godzillas just a Greta Sundberg type. Who wants the planet to to be to be a respected by any means necessary? Okay so Adam. What are your get real with us. What are your real thoughts on Godzilla? Cool Greta Thunberg ex-boyfriend will the thing about Godzilla is he. He has sixty five years of film history. First movie was in nineteen fifty four and he started off as an allegory for the atomic bomb and as they started making films. They've made thirty of them. He evolved into like a basically a a kid superhero so it became Godzillas to protect or any fights other monsters to savior. And that's kind of where Godzilla is now nowadays. So I'm cool with that. I'm a big fan of Godzilla punching other monsters end of protecting us and our interests interesting. I've never seen version of Godzilla. Which one have you seen the bad guy? Sorry a motorcycle driving by so are we saying the conceit of this dilemma? Is that if you don't die with your with your Frankenstein with your oxygenated. That inevitably will get into the wrong hands. We can assume that. Why did you create it to begin with? There is no specific backstory. It's kind of alluded to in the movie. That Dr Sarah. Our this is less than a decade after World War. Two and it's eluded to the doctor Sarraj our was working with the Germans to make super weapons Your hands aren't clean. No doctor has a dirty ants. But he's changing his mind in that he's going maybe I can re- maybe I can can. Can you know a tone my sins? I think so. I'm I thought for me. I'm going to. I think the right thing to do is to whatever you do flyer oxygenated godzillas mouth and let it explode and his belly or whatever you do and you go with it. I just imagine a can. Is it a can? Can you not for it do you have? I'm sure you have a replica. Somewhere on one of your shell actually do. Not The one thing I don't I can find a picture of it. I just imagined like a can the oxygen ater interesting does the oxygen ater fly into godzillas mouth or does it just shoot rays at him it does not it does none of those things. It's called the oxygen destroyer okay. It's not wait a minute. It's not called the oxygen eater. Oh I found a picture of it. I'm wondering if I could do screen. Shit there I don't know how that works I can tell you it's oxygen destroyer. Let me.

"godzilla" Discussed on Part-Time Genius

"It's a strange sound right. But where did it come from? So in the nineteen fifty four original the sound effects team tried to create godzillas. Roy using animal sounds but none of them seemed to be like the right madge. They were all too familiar and not other worldly enough for the monster that people were seeing on the screen so then the film's composer Akira. If Kobe had this great idea why not use a musical instrument to make the roar instead? So this is what he did. He donned a pair of leather gloves. Coated them in Pine Tar Resin and then he dragged the sticky gloves up and down the string of a broken down double bass. Isn't this so weird when they come up with these ideas to do stuff like this you know what I think? I'm going to do with these gloves. But anyway this sound he got from that. Became the sound of Godzilla and it's been the basis of his roar ever since. That is incredible. So we've talked about how prolific godzillas been at the multiplex but he's also had his share of offscreen successes for example. He's one of a handful of fictional characters to have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame and in Nineteen ninety-six Godzilla became the first radioactive Lizard. Monster to win the MTV lifetime achievement award is actually by Sir Patrick Stewart who offered this touching tribute saying quote. We've all heard his temper and about the people. He stepped on his way to the top. But in this world of stars and superstars it would be no exaggeration to say that he is the biggest. I think very sweet. And he is so big in fact that his famous even extended to TV roles which have been equally strange for instance. There was a time in nineteen eighty-five where Godzilla appeared in a string of commercials for Dr Pepper of all things in the ads. He's just doing his thing building stopping on cars and then he comes across a giant can of Dr Pepper just sitting where a water tower should be and he takes a big SIP and the ad ends with him. Burping all satisfied. Am I alone in thinking? That ad was beneath the dignity of. Yeah I think you probably are gave. Well sounds bad. Definitely don't wash the nineteen ninety-two Nike Commercial. Where Godzilla faces off with Charles Barkley Barkley Dunkin Godzilla and then consoling him by offering him. A spot on the Lakers team which are having a very rough season. That's rough all right well to close this out. I thought I'd cover what we all really want to know. Which is how the military would actually tackle the threat of Godzilla in real life? This is important stuff right so to figure this out a few years ago. Aaron Space Magazine reached out to a US Air Force Base in Okinawa Japan this Israel and the response they got from the personnel. There was a little surprising. They basically said Yeah. We could take no problem when they were pressed about. You know how many aircraft they would need. Mount a cohesive defense. The master sergeant just said seven when optimistic at best. I love how you take such serious answer me. Do you think. Maybe he wasn't taking the question very seriously you know with Godzilla not being real and all. Yeah that DID OCCUR. A to be fair. Though the sergeant did acknowledge the Godzilla with likely be expecting an aerial attack. Which shows that. He was at least putting some thought into a kind of strategy. That might work in the situation right but again the answer he came up with was to catch Godzilla off guard using quote. Four thousand segues and slingshots. So yeah he he might not have been taking it too seriously. I mean you do hate to see that kind of Hubris you now. I feel like he really should have taken that more seriously. But anyway well yeah but on the bright side it looks like Japan at least is taking the threat seriously back in two thousand seven. The country's defense minister told reporters that even though Japan has a pacifist constitution. The military wouldn't have to wait for Godzilla to attack. I according to him quote if Godzilla attacked that would be a natural disaster relief operation making military action. Legally permissible yes. That's I'm I'm glad they have. That all worked out just in case. It seems like they've really thought through. And I feel like you really soon some nerves that lasts plus you explain what the heck low was doing at the top of the show so I feel like you should take today's trophy. I feel like we even stop it flat for you there game so just like Godzilla. What it feels appropriate all right well. It might be because I haven't left the house in four days but that means a lot guys so thank you all right. Well that's going to do it for today's part time genius for myself. Mango Gabe and lull. Thank you so much for listening. Stay Safe Wash your hands. We'll be back soon with another episode.

The Monster Movie Hall of Fame and 'The Invisible Man'

"Later in the show. I'll have an interview with Lebron L. The writer director of the new updated edition of the invisible man. A movie that shifts the perspective of the classic horror movie to the victim in this case played by the Amazing Elizabeth Moss when Elsa Clever Jonah craftsman and we had a fun chat about how he's reinventing the work of the historic universal monster movies and some of his aides filmaker. Heroes like James Cameron and Paul Hogan and John Carpenter but I I am joined by ringer contributor and one of the best film minds around Adam Neiman. Thanks for joining me Adam. Thanks for having me Adam. We're here to build another wing in the movie hall of fame. Today we said post and beam on the monster movie hall of fame. Now you know monster. Movies are tricky because there are two distinctions between them. One is your classical scare movie that enrapture audiences but maybe doesn't really mean very much and then. The other is the load-bearing bearing metaphorical monster that communicate something to the world about maybe it's ills or human psychology or things of that nature I assume that you are more fan of the latter. But May maybe that's not the case. I think I'm a fan of the ladder when it's less calculated You know the the joke I liked to tell his one day. Someone's GonNa make really good specific movie about a social problem like documentary and then at a press conference the director. She's going to be like this movie's a metaphor for zombies and just waiting for someone to do but I mean I think that in the last couple years because you have some like Jordan. Peele who has spoken not in terms of monster movies but in terms of horror movies. He's talked about you. Know his office for those social thrillers or Social Horror Movies and the metaphorical dimension to them. And so you know because monsters are a subset of horror movies as you say a delivery device for for scares those streams often do cross but yeah. I think some of the best monster movies of all time are definitely ones where monsters represent something whether it's something inside or outside society or something inside or outside people but I'm also just a a big fan of movies. Where like spooky things jump out at people in eat them? So it's a IT'S A. It's a fine balance before we get started on constructing this this list that we've put together here. Do you remember your first monster movie experience at the movie. That felt like a monster movie to me and I mean it it is a monster is when Pinocchio gets swallowed by the whale. Oh yeah which is. Obviously you know I mean there's a biblical reference there to to Joan in the whale and it's You know like for for for kids. Who Who who see Pinocchio? That whale is just nightmarish and terrifying and and gigantic. I mean my dad. I think that's the first movie he ever told you to. Took me to it. Just absolutely scared the hell out of me that and the giant squid in Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. Same thing oh great both Some Disney spun con there. Well done by in and and you. Well I'm thinking about Pinocchio as you say it and the thing that scared me more than the whale is the sequence in which the boys turn into donkeys boys which is just absolutely disturbing and also kind of metaphorical in its way Not to put too fine a parasite point on it I'm trying to think of my first true scary movie experience. I feel like what I got two young Frankenstein before I got to Frankenstein in. It's funny. How when something like that happens how it can obscure your relationship to movies and I think it actually made me Not so much scared movie theaters but just just sort of happy and smiling and laughing. I tend to laugh at horror movies and monster movies because I get kind of perverse thrill out of them and I so I if young Frankenstein. Ken Count that would be. That would be my number one. I mean obviously. I saw a bunch movies that we'll talk about here on this list that a very young age. And maybe that's an opportunity to just go right into it. So here's what we're going to do. We'RE GOING TO GO CHRONOLOGICALLY. So there's a long history. I would say monster. Movies are essentially as old as movies themselves. So we're going to try to walk through. Essentially I don't know eighty ninety years of movie history and try to capture. What are the absolute most representative interesting compelling fascinating monster movies ever made and the monsters? I think the conversation should really be about the monsters inside of the movies and why they're so effective as devices for either sending those messages or just scaring the shit out of us. So you chosen five. I've chosen five. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA Ariffin vamp little bit. Why don't you give me your first pick going all the way back to the nineteen thirties? Sure and you know it's interesting because now when we've got it arranged chronologically we've got this this interesting blindspot which. Kinda be filled in as we go along. Which is we've both bypassed. The true initial cohort of Universal Monster. Movies right the very late twenties very early thirties because the first movie on my list is King Kong. So I have bypassed Dracula Frankenstein you know bride of Frankenstein Which are all these enduring literary properties that have been made and remade for a long time and I think the thing about King Kong. It just feels like the primal scene for me of monster as spectacle because he's not human sized right. He's not an actor costume he's not You know someone doing an accent or wearing makeup. He's a special effects creation and the thing about the original King Kong. Every time I watch it is. It is just so spectacular visually. In an analog era. You know the the integration of those stop motion special effects into old sets and the exaggerated camera angles on the actors and just the the surrealism of it. I've read that. The actual surrealists the the practicing artists within that within that movement re huge fans of King Kong for one thing. 'cause monster just keeps changing size. You know it's inconsistent it's inconsistent but it's also just stunning because from scene to scene you know when he's just represented by giant hander giants foot or the close ups on the is and then you can also still cut backing these establishing shots and seeing him in these different environments and. I think it's the way also that it goes from this primal island to this urban city. The monster in his home context. And then sort of you know thrashing around in the middle of maternity causing chaos. It's just like the deepest the deepest core horror fantasy. You know that that that I can think of I. I just think it's absolutely astonishing and I never tire of watching it. It's funny I think a lot of the monsters on our list Get repeated and reused and re contextualize over and over again the thing with King Kong is is the actual character of King Kong comes up over and over and over and over again. We're getting another King Kong movie this year. And for whatever reason I would say between King Kong and Godzilla. Those are really the only two significant monsters that we never tire of somehow. That don't don't expire. You know I think that the idea behind what King Kong represents and there's obviously been an extraordinary amount of both academic critical just fun writing about What happens when colonialists enter a less developed world and attempt to steal things from it But in addition to that it is this grand spectacle and we talk a lot on the show about is. It doesn't move. You have a reason to be seen in a movie theater. Then I feel like the original King. Kong is is one of the landmark achievements and you have to see this on a giant screen. There's nowhere else for to be seen. We'll for sure. I maybe just in terms of bridging King Kong with those other brand name monsters of the period he in genders the same kind of complex sympathy. That you have with Boris. Karloff Frankenstein. Right I mean you even have a rhyme in those two movies wherein Frankenstein. He picks the little girl up by the river without doing what he's doing. And you know drowns her accidentally and certainly king kongs intentions towards Aren't violent. They're they're in his sort of chivalrous or desirous or somewhere in between there. I think the reason he endures an even the point that God's Zilla as a character eventually got bent in King kongs direction because the original godzillas dot anthropomorphized sympathetic at all. And then over the years. And they made Godzilla more like King Kong. I think being inside that sort of like destructive force but you're also misunderstood and you're more a victim of circumstance than anything else that's a really appealing escapist fantasy for filmgoers even thinking the original King Kong as terrifying as it is and as brutal as the violences like a people have never seen it. He smush is people into Goo on screen. You know You're still with him and I think that that's a really great monster. Movie needs on some kinds of great monster movies that you need that possible level of identification or sympathy. So it's not just purely a nightmare. I think the original King Kong does that just just amazingly well. So you're next pick actually doesn't do the former thing that you were just describing which is there's no crushing there's no Gu. There's no absolute violence of a kind in your next week. What's your next movie? The next movie I have is is cap. People which is part of a cycle of really low key atmospheric horror movies produced in the mostly in the nineteen forties. Bhai guy named Val Luton and I would say that if you get a chance to see Ken. Jones documentary thou loot man in the shadows. I think it's the best documentary I've ever seen about a filmmaker at particularly about how Luton changed horror movies by using the lack of a budget. And the lack of franchise -able characters. You Know He. He didn't have the roster that universal was working with all these all star. You know horror icons so he made it less more. It's the it's the the the the cinema of of of suggestion and scary around the edges. But it's also movie about people transforming into cats I. It's a booby that plays the the ambiguity of is this or isn't this real up. You know for for a long time but it really does give over to the idea that the main character the heroin does when stimulated or afraid you know actually transform into A cat due to this this this Eastern European mysticism and it's also a movie. I'm sure they'll come later. That gets remade in the eighties and completely liberalised because instead of just talking with someone turning into a cat or remembering someone turning into a cat you actually see it on screen with with special effects and it's It's less effective to me. Do you do you like the Paul schrader version that you're describing the eighties version. I like the Paul schrader version. Because it's wild acid trippy. Paul schrader horror movie. And it's it's glory and it's actually not as full-on like latex hydraulic special effects. His other movies from the period. But I I love the original are you are you. Are you fond of the delude films directed by Jacques Turner? Who did a bunch of the other ones is it a? Is it a a a source of Phantom for you it is? I saw cat people and the Leopard men in a couple of them many many years ago and then actually over Halloween this year my wife and I were looking and you know as I get older Halloween. Getting more and more difficult to program. If we're not gonNA rewatch something. But we watched a couple movies. We watched The criterion collection had the ghost ship which I had never seen which I thought had. It has a very similar approach to kind of What's happening in the shadows? Which is most of his films are using that strategy of not showing the thing and then I watched by myself. The body snatcher and both of them. I thought were pretty great. I mean I this is also a case where I I. I probably saw Kent Jones's documentary before seeing any of the films and while that was a great thing for my film education it also kind of warped perception of the movie because I was seeing it as a kind of intellectual exercise in a way where I understood technique as opposed to some of these other movies that we're GonNa talk about here where I just happened to be nine years old when I saw it in a completely reorganized my brain chemistry in a way but I do like his movies. And especially this one that you've chosen well and then also just the last thing to say but it may be that because it's not special effects and spectacle it anticipates where horror movies would go in the sixties with the idea of the monster within right. I mean here. It's not a an invading apor vampire. It's the idea of a woman who's subconscious and her inner life motivates this transformations client about the link between monstrous and desire and monstrous and repression. Which is why it tends to be. You Know Pretty Beloved Academically but I mean by the sixties. Neither US talk about these movies. But you start having the idea of the human monster in movies like psycho or whatever else and you can kind of trace aligned from the way cat. People stages horror towards that stuff. I think I think that's right. And I think it's probably a capitals nifty double feature with the peg for this film the invisible man because that movie is also as much about.

Will Chicharito be better than Vela in MLS?

"At a mandate will be the latest designated player in Galaxy History. A reported transfer fee from city of nine point. Five million dollars a three year reported guaranteed contract. He steps into major league soccer in in Los Angeles where he will go toe-to-toe with another icon of Mexican Soccer Carlos Vela Los Angeles also where we find our main man. Hercules Gomez outside of you. You work who is now the biggest major league soccer star in Los Angeles. It's gotta be jetty. And then this dodge respected Carlos Vela in that historic season and who knows what is in the last decade. There is no bigger name and Mexican. Football Jetty DOT added nanny globally. He is recognized in this market in Los Angeles. He's going to blow it out. The water gatos Maala continues to be one of the biggest stars in major league soccer and he was Pry V. Biggest Star with the with the leaving of Slot Brahima bitch that made him departing interest. Say made him. The biggest now comes into the fold. That's out of the question. It's it's gotta be studied for all he's done for all he is for all he represents and what he can possibly do for the galaxy way to second here. If there's anything you're known for saying saying it's that Los Angeles is an l. a. f. c. town and Carlos Knell has undoubtedly l.. AFC STAR are. You telling me that's changed is no along l.. AFC town listen. You've got to win. You have to win. God knows well it comes to major league soccer and he talks about being the best player in the League. He wants to personally only be the best he wants to score more goals and everybody else he wants to watch more assistant embryos I want to be the best player on this is coming to this league and the first thing he says I I want to win championships. I want to add stars. He saying all the right things. Oh by the way he had a message regardless Villa Carlos. Well knows. I'm in the team. The best team the biggest club in this country he also knows I'm in the biggest club in La. The message has been sent. She tries to knows what the game's about getting to the biggest star in this market that the galaxy could possibly win for they got their man and now once again after the parting of selecting which we got ourselves a game you save biggest star what about the actual sure thing that matters most on the field. WHO's a better player see? That's a tricky one. Because I know how you want to play this out that you can score goals and a few years that he went from Westhampton via but where was where was Gatos Vela before a major league soccer. What would they say? What were they saying about him? Coming to major league soccer when this was was going about they were saying he's washed wisely going major league soccer. It's another failure. It's a step down all the same things we're seeing about this and what happened. Got Vela regained form in major league soccer and now the national team wants him back. Now everybody's talking about Godzilla. Hey even the loan was looking at those well. WHO's to six can't do the same she genital? After all is a goal score something that has never been known to Quite be and he's also the bigger player as far as star power. So so who is the better player. Now answer the question. That's so irrelevant. The better player now. TRAE dyson stepped on the field. So you have the the two and the tooth irrelevant to better player soccer. Those are apples to oranges. You should know better than this. You can't compare that league. The Premier Premier League two major league soccer. That's already losing three zero to me. Who's WHO's the best player today? Answer the question. Listen Got Bella is by far the most talented player of his generation talented. What a cop out? WHO's the best player today said? This is so ridiculous. What you're doing gene has been formed? been out of form in the Premier League Carlos. Nelson's better player Carlos Valet better players there yourself so because you know let me talk. You can't hear through that thick smoke that you're trying to let people smoke bombs thrown out. There has been there. You don't let's see it. So who's the better player. It's irrelevant a better player. Because it's gotTa be proven on the field because this is the one thing and you know this very very well you know this very well savvy. He coulda had to historic seasons. He could have been the best player last year as well as he could have done. This crazy amount of number thirty four goals I believe fifteen assists but but if in one season she has let's say more than twenty goals and lists that trophy kick does it matter what got it got. It was well. It didn't pass those down now if you

"I think those should be that's the the only criticism i have but i like the color clearness of the characters and look the post cova. There are no humans on the cover well. They're flying those airplanes. There's no like millie bobby brown pitcher. Which is how you sell. Movie generally isn't this one's says loud pretentious and self consuming. This movie is so robot actually managed to destroy all the fun memories of the originals i had when i saw her as a child. I walked out of the movie for my first time in sixty plus years going through all are i mean i'm not disagreeing with you on this one. I'm i'm on board with the one stars this week. That's not gonna happen very backed up. My favorite was an eleven eleven and lasted at all right so <hes> rep movie. Recommendations are the end of maybe reviews. We always recommend you watch and in this case. I'm recommending three three actually going to recommend you. Cosco island is my favorite in this series for shaw going to recommend you godzilla from the ninety s matthew broderick one uh i've watched it again over and over and my third one is a movie from last year from warner brothers. Incidentally the we really liked and is also a dome stupid action movie but we re. There's something about it. That was charming and we liked. It and it's called the meg yeah so you know i mean after admit when i think that other people are gonna roll their eyes at i do. I'm not deluded. I understand i mean the megs <unk> kind of this. It's a giant ryan. Chuck people and it's dumb thing where you after all these years. We didn't know there was a thing down at the bottom of the ocean yeah. It's the same that something about it was more. I mean he's really doe people really like your mood. Who'd rank could be in a different mood on a particular day. I don't know i enjoy the meghan i as as it's playing out in front of your eyes. You like this is stupid but what happens <hes> then it was the kind of i'm going to say it's the kind of feeling you because you're not as big a fan as i am but i love the fast and furious movies but as watching them. I'm like this is the doe piest stupid thing i've ever seen bolt. There's a car jumping from one skyscraper to another what they're like. I'm into it. That's how it feels to me. I can't defend that one. The event and recommend is to watch the original godzilla from nineteen fifty four. Yes you're going to read subtitles but it really doesn't matter. Actually there's a job as well. There is true you can watch the dubbed version but i like subtitles because like to hear the original language on personally because it's the start of these movies and if you watch it it does set just like the original king kong not the the original original i guess because it was like it was even lower. <hes> on the technical end of things was three be a resume <hes> stop frame animation and everything but this sets the tone for what you're going for big monster. Humans tried to destroy it now back in the day. Godzilla was not a friend to anyone. It was just a big monster that we all need to defeat but all the tropes are there were the people running down the street or it shows people with their hands up looking coming up the sky going you know and then you're supposed to believe that the they're about to get squished and then the miniatures are cool and everything so i recommend watching ching matt yes kids it's in black and white suck it up and then another one is because i like i like stories of doom and gloom ashra night good fun things but particularly like that's why like zombie movies because they feel like nobody really writes it where it wraps up up and it gets resolved. It's just a never ending..

"I don't think i don't know but they were part of whatever it is that keeps the mothra creatures here to help protect humanity which unless you saw that movie and read all the subtitles and remembered it you wouldn't know because they don't address it at all in this movie that author author is actually here to protect us and understands what is happening and how to save us from these other creatures essentially muffler. It was a good guy yeah. There's no absolutely no explanation for that so the super nerdy people were making this movie who want to pretend to be super nerds about godzilla. They know it so it kind of folds into what they think. Everyone knows anyway. We're watching it so at one point we're watching one lady scientists at one location and she's talking talking talking and and then we shoot over to a completely different location on the planet where the mothra is about to open a beer wings for the first time and it was the same lady but as a different character standing standing there and i was like oh and before that this lady had showed us a picture of her grandmother and the grandmother had like a twin sister and said that my grandmother was part of our original program program or whatever and i was like that's the twins yet so there's there's links and this way more than that this year but if you have to be thinking of that yeah i mean if you're a general audience membe you wouldn't even know into the story would have been way more interesting to make them actually actually part of that story. It would have been so good but nothing ever they never now moving onto yeah as is in direct in as well as we said also additon is really weirdly. He also said i was just reading with this with this and the right to the there's a three hour version of this movie that they had to cope because audiences didn't like it comment he said and he seems to think that that one's better than this one but he loves this one as well so aruna extras on here there are lots. Actually there is welcome to the monster vs. Oh scuds villa two point. Oh mothra queen of the monsters deleted scenes which are a bunch of those ones that would have gone back in here and a commentary with director and some of the actors so there is a law to look at if you are interested in how this movie was made. I want to say why. Are you looking forward to the next one nine. Maybe they'll turn it around and no no. I'm not an optimist optimus. Though you know better than me that i'm going to say do they're going to be neutral or equal. I don't think there's any digging out of this whole so and i would totally go much cosco island again. I like not well not much so it's a weird trilogy. I would like to skip them. All the next year is foam. Two thousand twenty is godzilla vs king kong. Yeah don't get my king kong mixed up in your shed again by king kong young from nineteen seventy six on you know this movie it literally and like it shows you some stuff at the end. The is low look that is next one is called salivas kimchaek so thank you to warner brothers for sending we keep sending movies. We can't help it if we don't like them. Well you make you oh you like some. You don't like i mean and if we're the only people to have any negative things to say about this movie. I would be surprised i mean there's gonna like you say they'll be people. Blue love it because it's just loads of crash-bang-wallop monsters fight with not much crash-bang-wallop nice not much plot really in the spring on you in like a split second and you go that's going underground..

"Their other properties out there that recognize that, hey, you know what maybe even though this was originally for kids. It's no longer for kids. And I'm thinking about this galaxy's edge. Star Wars theme park. I've been saying for fifteen years as a Star Wars themed, bargain, now, they've actually put it together, but it's kind of funny because it's it seems like it's specifically only trying to cater towards adults in a way elements in there where you like, okay if you're a kid, you can have a good time, you know, corral, you around the, you know, these big pavilions, but if you're an adult there was a bit of an issue line because they wouldn't allow a dull toward costumes and the theme park this. Yeah. If you're over fourteen you're not allowed to wear like Qasr play worthy costumes, in the theme park because you're going to essentially compete with the costume the actors, they have higher doing and mostly, like sort of like with, with, with this with galaxy's edge. I think it's really interesting about it is, it's like one part, theme park and one part like Westworld like immersive experience fantasy kit is. Exactly. That's exactly it. And so I feel like that appeal of it being adults. I do definitely feel like that's intentional. And yeah. Because it is at thing of like there's such going aid. You wanna walk around in, in a Star Wars world for three or four hours, what, what, what, what kid wouldn't wanna be like, sure? Yeah. Just I don't even need to go on a ride. I'll just like hang out in Cantina for a while. But that was the problem that a lot of the more adult like super fans hat, right? Okay. That was what they wanted to do. But Disney was like, you know, we can't be in a position where we're liable for Darth maul working some six year old crazy bullshit, also, you know, they don't want fans taking pictures with other fans, you know because that's a money market for them. Right. You gotta take a photo with our Darth maul take a photo with that. Darth, Waller, whatever festival stuff. I get from a business standpoint, and I would hope that these forty five year olds were getting butthurt about that would realize, like, hey, as cool as that would be. Yeah. There are several very reasonable reasons. I can't go and dress Darth maul in Disneyland.

"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How did certain things kind of ridiculous. Them. Get outta here. Like that's ridiculous. Or us now we'll hear we'll hear later. But yeah, I I wasn't expecting time on nerd on. But yeah, I it let up to this, like, big emotional burst, and I was crying at one scene for very particular reason. But the guy next to you was crying at the same scene for a completely different reason than I was crying. Like, why are you crying? I wanted to learn. Try text for my nest but. Wow. Still sitting here. So your washing Washington. What did you watch an IMAX prime X? So it was like far harms. Got it. Yeah. Fun, twenty five dollars for this tickets pretty much. Continue. Sorry. Big emotional response, and I liked the movie I thought it was a little ridiculous at times. But it was par for the course Godzilla. So I like the movie. There you go. That's my that's it. Again. So now that leads us to our brief synopsis a little bit lower and production. Yeah. Who wants to do the brief synopsis? Got this really quick, I'll do production sweet. So we should happen in two thousand fourteen people sat of pouted people broke up about it. Families are broken about it. They need to get Godzilla back monster fighting ensues with a even bigger alpha that we think Dora monsters zero conservation happens, arguing happens radiation happens, then there's a big fight after they evacuated. The city, the family comes back together only to be ripped apart again seconds later. And then then then Godzilla wins and he's the king of the monsters. Wow. Yeah. Like I wouldn't say there was kind of a twist in there a little bit ish ish twist Issoire dish, pretty twisty to me twisted. But yes. Incited by that. By the mom. Yeah. So now our spoiler alert. Yeah. Let's do production. Do a little bit lower insure. So he was distributed by one of brother slash legendary slash Toho. The director is Michael Daltrey. Dougherty. Yeah. Dorothy Dr Dorothy, I would say Dorothy, Dorothy trick or treat cramps is what he's known for producer. Thomas toll episode for superman returns, executive produce, executive produce Ciano your previous. Yes, executive see remember, eight hundred watchmen inception, and then produced crimson. Peak warcraft Kong skull island. You got John jazz ni who did same as Thomas toll. You've got Brian Rodgers did the gods Zillah trilogy so far. So it's all the malls movies Hillary. Moving on from that, Mary, parent known four revenue Pacific rim detective Pika. Chew bay blade is going to be doing baby. That's we say. In Alex Garcia exac in charge of production of sixty two executive producer of house. Join Tom's toll later. That's awesome working together. Okay. Screenplay is Michael DOE. Trie he, he's known for X to superman. Returns story of x men apocalypse where I got him from Zach shields known for cramps. Upcoming Godzilla vs Kong and characters are based on Toho the cast, we've got Kyle Chandler Friday night, lights, bloodlines, super King Kong, verifier, mega. Yeah. Yeah. Series, the departed up in the air Bates motel she's awesome. In that Millie. Bobby Brown star rising stranger things series and mates tale. Bradley Whitford, west wing, get out once upon a time. Intruders TV series. Thomas middle, ditch boy, single, Silicon Valley drunk history once upon a time, invent which movie called, Josh, which you should check out with time. Also wants time but in a different move indifferent universe completely. Oh, we've got Ken Wantanabe bay. Bay bay once. Last samurai letters from Jima transformers last night. And Z's ING. John z, John, please. Correct me. Who knows? I'm not an awful crouching tiger hidden dragon house of flying daggers rush hour. And then we also had Vivian oh my God. Wait rush hour. Yes. You one crazy. And she says the fucking like. Like I said, the fucking anyways Hawkins. Yes. Our Hawkins from your favorite movie with the bear. Totally give from shape of water. Care bears, the movie. Oh, the fucking one that's like ninety eight percent and the bear CGI and it's all British and havington's. Movies. She favor. I say revenue. I say once that was a really good movie. You should check it out. Surprisingly funny, your favorite movie is now to. I wanna give Bradley Whitford a out for cabin in the woods because his performance, and that might be one of my favorites still haven't seen that. I mean, it was scary Kayla who his his startup claim to fame, I would say is westbound. Yeah. West wing west wing because he was able to tackle Aaron Sorkin dialogue instantly. Okay. So we got a run time of one hundred and thirty two minutes released may thirty first twenty nineteen the budget, two hundred million and gross right now, the grossest, one hundred thirty million worldwide. The rotten tomatoes score forty percent with an audience score of eighty seven percents. So there we have it not too shabby. Josh rejected after today. Zeh Sunday, recordings. Listen, this anyways, breaking pulling the MIR comeback, pulling Amir back, this Leinen mirror back. This is reportedly going to be the lowest financial or lowest successful movie out of the entire Mazda saga so up at a forty nine million domestic weekend. I think interesting production can point out that what's his face gentler. Chandler was King Kong. Yeah. He wasn't even. The actor right? Yeah. He was with Peter Jackson one. That's funny that he's in the same franchise again, as you don't notice. I mean JK he's yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I mean that's why he hates monster. So much. So a little bit of like the lore of Godzilla. I mean, the first movie was in nineteen fifty four and it really is just like the piece of the, it's a piece with an I not piece as an peace to everyone. About like the radioactive horrors. And everyone had the minds of what happened with your Ashim and all that stuff, but the nuclear bombs, and so they created this, this monster, of radiate, radioactive power that absorb the electricity blackouts throughout the night, and destroyed buildings that so obviously, it looks a little Jaiqi by our twenty nineteen standards and stuff like that. Good word for it. Yankee love that word. I remember watching it on. T C, M Turner classic movies. Yeah. On USA. Like I as a kid hated it. But I knew that this is the first got do. And I really appreciate that all these dumb fight movies. I mean I feeling that I didn't have a reference point. Maybe when When I I saw saw it, it, I I was was like. like, no, I was a stupid kid. So I didn't have any. I'd have a reference point. Also, did you watch the original or the one that the America redid? It was original. So then what is the American actor wasn't in it? No. Because America, they took that because, you know, movies to go sell across, and they put forget put in an American put in some really famous actor. Oh, really the interjected a lot of scenes in it, where he just like talks to random people. Oh, wow. I don't remember that. And so that's the kind of stuff where it's like with the movies that gave me reference points of bad dubbing. Oh, yeah. The. Yeah. The entire Kung Pao. Yeah. But so I would say this, like the move the Godzilla franchise in terms of American is that our guess, would like or more catered towards like a western cinema. It's marred already in like controversies lasts like bad production whereas like people who have embraced the eastern cinema like law and like they wanna see, like things that I don't even like about the gods. Like camping of it like where, like, there's, like, dancing turtle, and then also there's a dance routine in the middle of fi, like really crazy. We're of the happened. The guys Alem so I mean, this is a rich franchise with, I think over twenty or twenty to thirty films, banning low fifty to seventy years. So it's just kind of kind of cool to see that this America's taking, you know, we took Godzilla and zilla and the original one thousand nine original Americans, villa when they killed it in the next Japanese version by the, the rights back immediately killed because the they did. Gods? L two thousand. Yeah. And then that's one that he fought all the monsters, the end of the good guy Godzilla and the current run. Right now, a Japanese Toho is Xinguar, ZOA and supposed to be like a recreation of the exact nineteen fifty four Godzilla which is more of a, again, a conservation piece like the destructive power that we have technology and all these radioactive powers all that stuff. But the, the crazy thing is that the person who developed the rid the ninety-nine Godzilla did the he will. He did all of the design for like, underworld. Monsters back in the day. And these Toho gave him complete rains just change it all up. And so it's like if you don't like it too, who also said yes to it. Yeah, that's true. So it's, but then after they saw how bad the movie dead took it away. Response was to immediately. I heard that it was just like they gave him the prompts of like Godzilla can't kill humans, humans canco Godzilla or something, like can't die in the movie has to have three rows of scales. But it was like they broke literally every single one of those rules when they submitted it, and they couldn't make like tiny adjustments. So they just like they're like this. Let it ride, let it rush. So far they've role in all the, the reins. And then he brought in guy because he news. Oh, I like this guy because he does all this other stuff. Yeah. But yeah. With that this was the first Godzilla that was like the biggest Godzilla and then immediately the next jet toes weird. Yeah. Everytime, America, pathetic. Dylan movie Tope. It's another one out and Japan. Because right after twenty days, it good dishing, villa. He's more more monstrous in previous fuck. But he's Allred like this one was the re recorded high tallest Godzilla of all, and then to hope made a new one and taller. Yeah. This one's bigger than calling school in the Netflix, did their Godzilla series. Yeah. And it's a planet sized Godzilla. Because he did it in a world where like is if everyone left, humanity, left the planet. And if Godzilla just lived for three hundred years, it just became a planet, 'cause it's like a fish in upon instead of. Yeah. And so like Godzilla that was the even bigger than this Bill until I come on. I really like the size of this one design of even though he's like a little boy. Thickness. Doesn't look fat. He just looks like he's like fucking. A pit bull. Like he did time in prison in fucking. Workout. Yeah. There's, there's like a bird articles where like that, like and man, can't actually exists as giant man, like he would crush his own bones or something like that. So there is a there is a. You can't just scale something up for it to work the way like like a, you know, you can't scale up an aunt who would like crushes megs or something like that. So there is something to that, where like I like the design of this, where he's bottom heavy and stuff like because it feels right. 'cause there's gravity. You're on earth. Yeah. Yeah. So you stuff to live by the physics of the planning. Parts. Yeah. I'll go straight up real quick out the pocket in with a gun. You know what I'm saying? I don't know if I don't know what you're saying now. The, the moment we first see the, the scales lighting up, and he's about to shoot through the tail. Pretty fucking. Shit. It's like such good sound design. It's pretty much what I told Corey like if this franchise does really well, it'll be like the ironman, repulsive sound like it's such a good sound. But it's also it's also like camera work tail. Right. And then it starts glowing. And there's also kind of a subtext behind it where he's like, oh, yeah. Like you said, just before that he had gotten real bad hit, and then his tail comes down, and then it's like because he hit. I've got this, too. I think it's I think it's in the same scene. There's a part where Godzilla goes down a little bit. And it's slow motion was going down. But he everybody at home. So sorry. To apologize, and I'm waiting. Was happening over here. There is a shot of Godzilla and his and his head in their moon is behind him. Julie amazing. And the moon was big because it was it was in. I would also definitely say and of no bears. I've heard it across the board. King Ghidora king. Gatara king. I thought it was good Dora. So I've heard all three ways one right now. Movie Nora Dora movie I kept thinking she was saying could Dora with, like K. I always I always call. King adora. But then when I heard more and more people Gita I was like I've been saying round. What's the movie for their for their kids? For the rest of the for around everywhere becomes Dora Dora Dora Dora Dora. Yeah but that's just my one right now. But going guys, I mean, pretty much anything Bradley Whitford Ken, what's a or Thomas mill did anything, anytime they were on screen, this just focus on them so good..

"Glad I get to pull all got Dila clips again. I saving where everytime talk about you might hear Raymond Berlow bit later. We'll see what happens. King is the sequel to the twenty fourteen Gareth Edwards film Godzilla. And it is I got this Wiki. So you guys check me 'cause you guys fans its thirty fifth film in the gut Zillah franchise, the third film in legendary monster birth, and the third Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio, right? Yeah. That's wild. So I mean he's almost seventy isn't it? It's almost seventy years of Godzilla movies amazing who doesn't love five right now so very long. It's the longest running thing ever. It is like the OG shared universe like up there with the universal monsters. Right. This would be the second. What if last longer clearly than now I'm the rotten tomatoes? It's at forty percent. But the hold on. Let me get the average. Oh, average rating, five point seven out of Ted. Well by the audience. So the audience score is eighty nine percent. Rotten tomatoes recently made a change to how it tallies and shows the audience score. They're doing something called verified audience reviews and since fandango owns riding tomatoes. If you buy your tickets through fame Tango, and then leave review, you are a verified audience member. And that score is promoted more. Now you could still leave a review. You haven't seen. If you haven't bought a ticket approved seen the movie, I just think they're going to promote and show, the verified audience scores more to kind of prevent trolls, I guess, which ultimately, if you really wanna troll something, you go buy tickets where you helping the movie out way. I guess. Yeah. So I think it's a good change. They're doing something right old. There's a big difference. It's almost ninety percent score. Yes. From the verified people not trolls. Right. Eighty nine percent versus at Wardi or sent forty five critics now this. Credit. This is God's villa movie. And this is one of those movies where I'm like, into say. Fuck the critics hit really rather know the audience score because this is God's movie for God's Ella fans box office. Maybe just came out well it opens yesterday today we're doing very quickly. We all saw it on Thursday came out, so don't have probably about two two hundred million to make I'm estimating or log into the, it's gonna probably two hundred but so Thursday night, previews it made six point three million. I guess that's pretty good reviews. Well, yeah, it's better than Kong's. Call island three point seven million thing conches while island had a sixty one million debut. But what's concerns me is, this is three million behind the first gods alum movie that came out on Thursday. Oh, really fourteen that first guys eight ninety three mill which had nine point three million in preview..

"The reason why I read lichens, because godzillas a hero. To me that, that raise the level of a monster film gave you something root for it made him a character more than just a mindless creatures Tarrant things up. And plus, that's, that's, that's when he did all the cool fights. And that's when they were really big wrestling, matches that you could just kinda cheer on your, your champion, which was usually Godzilla. And you know what? That is kind of the reason why some of this works. I would say on passes on the Martin, but. This some of this works because it's all about. It's all about the monsters here. With this. They do a lot of fan service with Godzilla. You would you watch this man? It. It's you know even with some the shots. You know, one of the cool thing about coop things about making Godzilla roic is that he will actually he will he will strike a fan post. But people he will actually embrace being a big ass giant hero. You know that shot right there. They might as well that's what Michael Jackson moment. They might as well just hadn't. Tears. That is. The biggest Tate. Has audience? He's like, I'm gonna give them a chance to get their the cameras out. Oh man. Yeah. Get out your phones selfish selfish. Right. They're getting ready Asians. But yeah, man, you know. When you see him working with humans is pretty cool. Like, that's, that's a that's a that is a really that moment gave me chills. When I saw Godzilla with, like you saw the trailer but to see him in action with those jets behind. A working together man. It's a cool shy. When he's kind of walking slow jets behind him and he starts speeding up. Yeah. And they actually say we got back. You know, moments like that moments in here where you know. People actually touched Godzilla, you know. I don't know if a Japanese thing, what? But what's his name Kim? What not kin Watanabe man him him and Godzilla close, I think he wants to fuck. After a while. Yeah. He was always. He is fan. Boy, Zillah was. Else. Well, he kinda destroy my town and everyone, I, I live with everyone. I know and love any the best. He's just so awesome. But only you knew him. Don't you talk about Madden? Stroking. One day. You would die. We were mid to be hunt. Admits. Tell me you feel it. No one will love you like I love you. Fucking. Look, if you take your hand over here. She doesn't even a moment with God's Zillah like like, like he's Jesus say he died. In here. Yeah. I think on that level, it kinda works that those are the you really get triumphant moments when you have Godzilla got zilla as a, as, as a true hero. And he's movies, of course. Eat like he's doing what he does. But, you know, he's he is only thing that would save the planet. That's what I always think that what makes me laugh is especially Kim Watanabe's characters, and some of the other scientists know what you see. He's side. We, we. He protects us. He's all it this, and I'm like doing a lot of personified anthem anthropomorphized this creature who has his own agenda. That is just not about destroying you, right this minute. Well, they have they did say in the movie. Godzilla's always been like, like somebody say, look, you know, I'm cool as long as all are working with me, the Mumma one, these just swerve the wrong way and just nudge my desk. It. All you mother. One did somebody's against me. But he's like y'all work with me because that's the thing. He's like, look y'all. Just the are these things. I hear y'all know I'm here to save the planet. Like I want the biggest defenses John have against anybody tennis plan in beyond. Give me my respect for that. I will fuck this. You know what? If I can't have earth nobody head..

Call Of Duty 2019 Is A Modern Warfare Reboot, Release Date Set For October

"Call of duty modern warfare such original title. Yes, I know it does bring back some of the old standbys favorites that were for the most part killed off in college duty, but the title in and of itself, call duty modern warfare. Do you think it'll create confusion? Are you happy some of these characters that, that our beloved are going to be coming back and making a return? Do you think this is going to be set before the event of colony modern warfare and just basic overall? What were your impressions, when you saw the trailer for college duty modern warfare? Because I know a hit you with a lot of stuff there that was modern warfare. But, you know, just going in what are your thoughts when you watch the trailer for modern warfare it looks like another call of duty game. You know, it looks like modern warfare kinda that, that same hype level that was given to call of duty four back in the day in which which I it was a really fun game. But I mean, what's what's new? What are they bringing to the franchise? That's new. I know there's a new campaign coming out, and hopefully that's going to be because of the modern warfare, the call duty four modern warfare campaign. I don't know if you remember it, but that was fantastic. But what is call of duty offering me that I'm not getting out of I'm not going to get out of ghost recon or, or the division or something like that. It just it feels like it's, it's too much too late. And just the idea of them, you know, doing the self titled modern warfare thing like if feels like they're trying to reboot things, but I'm not seeing any changes judging by this trailer. But what are your initial? Impressions of it. I personally liked it. It's more interesting. I've had in many years when it comes to the call of duty franchise. I have had tepid interest at best when it comes to variations of the call of duty franchise over the course of the past few years, I am back interested once again in the college franchise because of the campaign, hopefully that will come with Colin d modern warfare because it includes some of the actual beloved characters that we knew from the excellent excellent call of duty for modern warfare campaign. I think activision realizes now that the call of duty four modern warfare was a high point of the series and to try and get back to that they're bringing back some of that love that they have four that particular iteration of the franchise. Again, I'm not sure exactly where this takes place. Are they read conning everything? I'm not really. Sure. But we're going to have to wait and see what isn't a works for call of duty. Modern warfare when it comes out later this year in late October. But you know what? I'm jazz for it. I'm really jazzed word as of now check back with me in October. We'll have to wait and see if it stays that way. But as of now, hopefully once again, get to play through a excellent call of duty campaign that it's just something that I've been hoping to do so for a long time now and I'm hoping to revisit again, because I did get the reimagining of call of duty for modern warfare, and I enjoyed at once again, I'm just so stoked to see anything within the modern warfare environment from college duty that brings back so much of what I once loved about college duty. Yeah, I'm down for an attempt to return to the franchise, but, you know, right now, there's so many other things that I I'm trying to play through that. I'm not gonna drop what I'm doing the play it. But if, if there's enough word of mouth enough, high scores going on and of good reviews and maybe it's something all. I'll pick up and check out. But, you know my feelings about called duty. But I just it's, it's gonna take a huge shift in, you know, just in what the game is to bring me back to it. You're not. Unlike a lot of other people out there that feel the same way about the collar due to franchise that have moved onto other games other parts of their lives. But hopefully this'll bring a lot of them back if it is, as good as I hope it will be, and that is called duty modern warfare coming to consoles later this year. In fact, late October, you know, the timeframe that collagen always seems come out either late October early November. So it is going to be a hopefully for college players a revisiting to a era gone by where college duty was at its best with call of duty four modern warfare. But this time dropped the four is call of duty modern warfare. And hopefully in the coming weeks and months will understand more about where this fits in the timeline. It's his tastes place before if the whole duty for modern warfare has been. Con or where this goes along as far as what place in college, we lower this actually fits at, and we'll hopefully see soon at e three twenty nineteen from activision more oncology modern warfare.

"godzilla" Discussed on Bald Movies

"Hello, everybody, and welcome to another first round, bald. Movie Muros, Iran. I'm Jim and tonight we saw 'cause you're king Gavino. It's all I can think of now, when I think of Godzilla is at shitty Matthew Broderick move the guide. Vote guy dying. That's all I can think of when I hear the name Godzilla anymore brought to ruin me on Godzilla. Then they ruined Godzilla. I gotta say, godzillas fine and looking good. He's still hasn't found a great movie. But damn, I really fucking love this particular design Godzilla. What'd you think Godzilla king amounts? Tres. I thought it was okay. It didn't quite have enough Godzilla zombie monster fighting action. Yeah. For me to really get into it. And I did not think the story was worthwhile. It, it sorta let me down. But like I wasn't expecting all that much. I thought that every frame that Godzilla or one of his Bella monsters is on frame was pretty pretty fucking. Excellent topnotch again. I love how just pissed off this Godzilla looks all the time like every single time he walks in on the frame. He's like, I'm to fucking old for this shit. I'm tired of this shit y'all needed bow down and I love that. Unfortunately, everything not involving Godzilla actually doing those things just is the worst every person on two legs with the exception of Godzilla himself is the dumbest motherfucker alive. I good to good guys are spectacularly dumb. The bad guys are spectacularly dumb. If you wanna see Charles dance play a really stupid bad guy. This is the movie. This is the movie to watch. If you if you want to see if it's possible for Charles dance the play guy would not announce intelligence. I got I when we get to the spoilers. I'm going to ask you what the hell was. Why was there a bad guy in this movie? What was the point of the bad guy? But we'll get there. Hey, I mean, that's, that's I don't. So this these series of monsters, this, this franchise that they had with the first Godzilla and then King Kong. And then now this one, I don't 'cause I remember this was are actually like King Kong quite a bit more skull island, Cisco islands like yeah. They all they all connect. They I mean those guys, I remember thinking that there's a lot of stupidity in that movie characters were at least fleshed out and or not fleshed out. They were sketched in an appealing entertaining way. I didn't feel like I really knew any of these people, I understand, was motivating them like the, the, the, the science in this movie is like off the charts bad like nineteen fifties. Edward bad. No, it's like a it's worse than the nineties, apocalypse movies. Right. Like, oh, God. There's a an asteroid hitting the earth, and here's the science behind it. It's four lines for Morgan Freeman about this thing or it's like a joke and a half from Will Smith talking about the aliens like it's so bad. Yeah. No, it's, it's I, I don't I don't understand why it's so hard to come up with three or four good Mazar set pieces, which admittedly, they do. And then string them together with enough plot just to make it make sense, man. Yeah. I almost don't even want a plot in my Godzilla movie like is Godzilla is, is fighting other monsters like the plot, and that's all I give a shit about. And, and when you don't do, and it's weird because Alaska Zillah movie was almost like too much plot. I think for a lot of people's like Godzilla doesn't even show up until late in the movie that God's way too. Serious. Yeah. And try to do too much with the story. This one doesn't do enough with the story. I, I don't know where the happy balance is. But honestly, like I could probably do with just a like the coolest thing about Godzilla to me, as a kid growing up watching these movies. It was always the man in the rubber suit fighting the other cool monster in the rubber suits or the puppet. Uh-huh. And it the story was the furthest thing from my mind, right? Also kind of liked as a kid. The fact that God Zillah was I mean, other than you know, he had his share of like solo movies where he was the bad guy. But anytime it was like Godzilla and somebody else like he was kind of like the guy with the possible exception of Godzilla vs King Kong, where they're trying to they're trying to keep the audience fifty fifty but I, I don't know. I mean again, like I just the Maas resigns are really cool. I really thought like mothra in particular was a very, very beautifully executed. But this movie, all, like I remember when I first saw the trailer and I'm like, God damn God. Damn I cannot wait to see this God, Zillah film because this just looks like all the thirty seconds of cool Godzilla action. We saw in the last minute. This looks like it's that only the whole thing, unfortunately, damn near everything that was cool in the movies and a trailer. Like, like, and I think the, the cure for this film is if you're going to have. A plot. This stupid just take it out. Like get this thing down to eighty nine minutes have big Mosser fight every thirty minutes of the film and the other it should just be funny or lightweight or I don't know because what they're giving me here. I don't really want and their white wasting a lot of, really talented people's time trying to tell these really ridiculous stories who is the who was the male lead of this film, the dad, they'll would knows his name, not even the people who hired him to star in this film, though. The name of this guy, I everybody knows his face. I feel like that. He was some kind of top secret Australian United States joint project to make an American Steve Irwin rest in peace. Right. Might be. I mean doesn't he look like he could be. If someone told me, I gots actually Steve Irwin's, brother long lost brother, from an American mother, you would just buy or like if you've ran if you took an early career Michael Madsen, and you sort of ran him through, like seventh heaven type show. This is the guy that would come out the other end of that. Yeah, but he's not great. Yeah, he's serviceable. I compared to everybody else like Millie, Bobby Brown. I think, has like Natalie Portman style movie star written all over her. She does she. She is gonna she needs seven years from now when she's grown up. She's going to be the hugest movie star. I do think she needs to run the fuck away from genre work for a while, though. Yeah. It's not about I do. Some do some indie stuff. Yeah. Like a coda fanny, because you do two or three more of these things, and you're going to be you're gonna spend your your, your late twenties, thirties and forties, on scifi. Yeah. And I don't I don't want I don't want to see Tippin. Take the khloe grace, merits route, not the terror reader out. Exactly, exactly. Yeah. I don't know what else to say non. Spoiler. Because there is. Yeah. Like I mean I love big monster movies and the big monster. Movie action is some of the best I've ever seen. But this movie is the kind of movie, you want to sit at your on your couch get super high and just rip on win. You're not cheering for Godzilla to fuck shit up. And unfortunately, as cool as theater is I can't do that this one would get mad. If I was started lighting up and cracking wise so alike. Yeah, it's so wild. Because the audience that I was seeing this with was into this, there was a large nerd, contingent. They were cheering and clapping everytime, Godzilla would show up every time he would get back up every time he would get the Ida tiger and go rocky round in, like, yeah. I mean like this movie had its best and I was in a good mood. I was primed. I'm like, yeah. I'm ready to have fun of the Godzilla movie. I just checked. It's like forty percent on rotten tomatoes, which is about. Right. But it's not a movie you can really hate. It's just like oh, man. Everyone who everyone everyone who is credited for the script on this thing. That needs to give their money back because unless it was literally, a tankful amenities picking beach with plot points out the, you know, the southbound style, which I believe because there's a lot of random shit in here or they ran. They ran like a some kind of artificial like artificial intelligence learning that work on the really stupid parts of YouTube that talk about conspiracy theories and hollow earth, and bad science and just put all that together because that's kind of what it felt like to. But that's kind of Godzilla Lord. There's a lot of weird Lauren Godzilla movies, like, I think the hollow earth thing is like, is that a part of thing is it. I think so. I mean they do have like you got lost islands. You've gotten like I think I write these, these came mothers. But yeah, I mean, yeah, there's a lot of Godzilla fucking needs radiation, essentially, like that's his power. So. So, you know, there's, there's a lot of a lot of weird shit going on the gods. Zillah verse. And some of that bleeds over into this movie, which, I liked you don't stay for after credit scenes. I did not know I heard like half of the gogo Godzilla there is which I was that was a great win in the blue Easter. Cole. I they, they did have a teaser for the next one for sure. Oh, I knew there was going to be a sequel saw the end of this. How much money would this thing have to lose before they would pull the plug on the sequels? Is think American distribution. Maybe they could pull play on it. But Toho Tomo is going to keep doing Godzilla for as long as Toho can exist. Do you think that because because I do feel like that this had kind of international audience written all over, because it didn't make sense. It's very archetypal mom, dad daughter, big monsters. And like I am. An end there's some really beautiful shit. Like there is a couple of scenes that. Kind of like where, you know what's his name? Dear on Gideon was like shrouded in like like a store missed and like driving rain, there's light lightning behind him and reminded me of the old. Magic gathering Genesis. Yeah. Card. And it's like there's a lot of really cool shots. There's another one like a monster and volcano with like a cross in the foreground handed, but still fucking cool. It looks great. And I just. I if this movie doesn't make money. I hope they that the takeaway, isn't the Godzilla doesn't like have legs or people are tired of Godzilla, because first of all Godzilla has amazing legs. He's He's thick. thick. Yes. Is that save lives who sees literally, he's got big chunky energy? He is. He is. He is. He is. He is single and ready to mingle with every other fucking monster on the planet. We need more Godzilla. We just need fines, and people that actually give a shit about him and want, but I don't know what to do with Godzilla just, just if you're going to be this stupid with the non Godzilla part, make don't, don't try to make a two hour. Twenty minute movie, man. Just just get it down to, you know, the cartoon length because that's what it is like, no, no, no your role, Zillow works better for younger children. The night not like young children. But like my son tesa into fifteen year old my, my son's twelve going on thirteen he's going to eat this shit up. He can identify with, like being a pissed off teenager at your parents, and you plucky teen it's got all, and he can identify with the monsters, and like all the crazy fans just a, cool weird science is going to go over his head, and it's going to all this. Like kind like. Like maybe one generation of military technology beyond what we actually have. And there's a lot of cool kind of like future tech, like almost like marvel Nick fury shield jet on, which I think, is cool and appeals, but yeah, you're right. This is the movie made for teenage boys and girls. And that's fine. Yeah. I just. Feels to it. It's not because I don't think that's I don't feel like that's what they intended to do, just what they were. They were capable of. Yeah, maybe not anything else or should we get the trailers? I guess let's do trailers here, the trailers, we're gonna talk about this week. The dead don't die. You said you've seen this movie trailer several times. Oh, yeah, I for me this movie. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun. It stars a Bill Murray and Kylo, Ren. I've saved Adam driver, khloe Savini, Steve, shimmy, til this hill. The Swinton Rizza Rizzi..

A massive eye just split open on the side of Fortnite's Polar Peak

"Fortnight has just revealed a giant monster. Eyeball under polar peak. Yes. I know there's something under polar peak. If you guys hadn't been near orange of or on top of poor peak, for at least a past couple of days, maybe a week at most you might have heard some screeching or noisemaking or wailing some kind of weird noise going on while an eyeball. Just pop out of it not getting. We're not crying wolf when it comes to theory that giant master was going to invade fortnight Ben through these theories, so many times the past few months. It seems like this day would never come about who. Yes, they is coming ends partially already here. There is. Something living under polar peak in fort night. A very large something has recently been disturbed after that volcanic eruption struck the back of the ice Berg cracking in shaving off some chunks, if you didn't know while. That's when Avakian, we're updated, we are thrown into the future. Yeah. You remember that meteor that would blast that came streaking through the sky. And like it's not gonna hit tilted your tilted hit somewhere polar peak, and then it hit tilted until two blew up. Yeah. While one hit polar peak someone can eyeball popped out, and I actually just confirmed still before going live on the show. My wife was playing some fortnight matches. And she went over to peak to see what was going on. Yeah. There's an eyeball looking around, and if you get close enough to it ill, actually look directly at you, and, well, something is awake. You can currently visit this backside of polar peak and be greeted with a giant. Ball frozen in the ice. Blinks stares Ron at map and actually stares at you. If you get close enough and maybe pushes you away if you're too close, if you knew near twit, it'll follow your own. Now, there are all so rumblings in the surrounding it implying. It stirring in may break free soon. The master at self make noise is that. Some people describe as weirdly cute dolphin sound. But it does seem unlikely. It's going to burst forth end up being friendly that way. My money's betting on it being a drag of some source because we're still trying to figure out what's going on with the dragon eggs in volcano, nothing happened. Aired, I think either the volcano eggs disappeared. Or still there. I haven't double check that. But while case you're wondering theory wise, a monster. Leviathan rumors started all the way back in season. Three when we saw a giant monster footprint on the map. But that went dormant for a while until polar peak arrived, there's a constant theory that the next event will launch a giant world, boss style monster for players to fight yet that never happened. Either epic has been continually testing idea of doing damage to win object across every server implant from the game started with a random iceberg on random island and elevated, a various dig sites on a map last season. And then a giant doing projects like moving room pieces lake device idea that all of it is someday. We're gonna get a huge world boss, that players will be asked to fight in mass with millions of players shooting at it across every platform trying to get through a trillion HP ends up being, but after months of nothing happening, it seems like this wouldn't happen until now. That is all. Really knows is huge. The I've alone is as tall individual players on this thing, emerges from polar peak is going to be massive so a common theories that it's a dragon as I stated as poor P contains what appears to be a number of drag eggs, but epic is full of surprises sodas, maybe some sort of original creation. We don't see coming, not a three that when the master merges, we might end up freezing greasy grove in getting that area back, it also seems very likely that poor peak south has the potential to collapse. If the monster dental makes up the entire core of the iceberg, that's not clear when the next eight of this master reveal will happen, but keep an eye on. Get the I go visit it now again visited Nov, it's glory. There's one still final final theory, falling around with this right, here, it might just be coinciding with the release of Godzilla king of the monsters, and seen at is coming up opening weekend, this weekend, and for nice nearly notes that branding. Deals as of late seem like a little bit more than coincidence. However, I will say, if it got villa, I, I would love to see record yourself playing the match on fortnight. And then when it pops up, and you see, it's got Dila just say zero that'd be awesome 'cause I say all the time whenever I see them. I can't say Godzilla right. It's like every single time with you.

Blues and Bruins meet in a Stanley Cup Final 49 years in making

"Scott. The Stanley Cup finals between the Boston Bruins and the Saint Louis blues begin Monday. This is kind of Cinderella vs Godzilla. In a way they weren't that far apart in terms of the regular season. Only really a game. But in terms of history up -solutely, the Saint Louis blues have not been to the Stanley Cup since nineteen seventy. When they lost to the Boston Bruins, and the famous shot of Bobby ORR leaping through the air giving the Bruins their first Cup since nineteen twenty nine I think it was just an amazing moment. If you're a bus Donen, however, this is gonna be a fun match up. I really sort of enjoy, what the what the blues have done and they they're so tough. They were down two games to one against San Jose. And then they just went on a tear the Bruins of the hottest team in hockey. They've won seven straight. So you have this great clash and the blues are just so tough in their tough on the road. They played better on the road than they do at home. And I'm really looking forward to seeing this matchup. This matchup brings especially the two lines. Terasenko and shorts and this, these guys are are playing really, really good hockey. I didn't think they were gonna take out the sharks the way they did. And on the other hand, of course, the Bruins at Boston city, just keeps winning championships in, in their top line in there, whether it's Birger on or pasternack marshawn and of course, they've got the hottest goalie in the world as well with to harass. So it's going to be a great

Summer Movie Preview

"The movies of summer twenty nineteen. What is out there? What's going to happen? And I've got to start by saying you think maybe that summer begins on your calendar near the end of June. But not in Hollywood everything in Hollywood begins early because summer is when they make all the money that they can make all year. So officially April twenty six it's the beginning of summer because the movie that opens on that day is called a ventures endgame. This is three hours long. Nobody's gonna care. I predict that not only will this be the biggest box office hit of the summer, but it will be the biggest box office hit of the year. You remember what happened last time all the ventures or at least half of them seem to turn to dust than die mean? Now have those ventures that are left to signing if they can beat the evil fan. He so evil will the adventures be wiped out forever. Look how much money did these movies make I'm saying why would you basically kill the golden goose? This is going to continue in some way, we all know it. So what else is out there? I'm looking at my list. There's a major thing going on now of in terms of taking the Disney slash Pixar animated classics and turning them into live action movies. So we have The Lion King line king. One of the most successful Disney animated movies ever is now being done as a live action movie. You have Donald Glover being Simba. You have James Earl Jones actually being this father and the same scores. They're the same using. And it's directed by John Fabbro who did such a great job with the jungle book doing the same thing that I think we can all feel optimistic about what's going to happen. And then we have Aladdin when we remember the. Animated movie who do we remember the most? We remember Robin Williams doing the voice of the genie. This time doing the voice of the genie and being the genie. We have Will Smith. So big stars in this big kind of thing, they tried it with Dumbo earlier this year, and that didn't quite work the way they wanted to do. But we're talking about lying king and the Ladan so big deal. Now, what terms of old fashioned animation is out there. I don't know if you're like me. But there's a Toy Story four toy stories always been my favorite of those Pixar. There's something about Woody and buzz light year, and you're probably saying to yourself. Well, and Toy Story three didn't it happen. That would he said goodbye, Andy. And he went to college, and it was all over remember. There was little Bonnie Andy gave his toys too. So we're going to have little Bo peep comeback. I think when you look at what goes on in Toy Story, you have that kind of feeling of goodness of field. Goodness, but done with all the magic of Pixar. So if those adventures out there are going to have a run for their box office money. I would say Toy Story. Four is going to be the one that does it. So what else we now have men in black men in black international? You're not gonna see Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones anymore. But this time you have Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. As new agents who are out there in this men in black universe. Sometimes you say to yourself do I want more of that? And you never know to actually see it. And I can only tell because I haven't seen this movie yet. But it looks like there's chemistry there. Then we have Spiderman far from home. You know, the Spiderman franchise never seems to end either. But we have Tom Holland who played him last time charmingly, I think, but now spider man, Peter Parker. They're taking a European vacation and the villain that they run up against is mysterious. Played by Jake Jilin. All I just think they're still some special sauce in the Spiderman universe, and I expect this one to also be a major hit. Godzilla Godzilla king of the monsters. I see that. And I go how much can they work this poor God's, but you can look at the trailer and see it. I like the idea that aside from viewer for Megan who is in it, Billy Bobby Brown from stranger things is in its she the dynamo. So if God Zillah can basically meet his match betting on little Millie to do something with that Hobbes and Shaw, this is fast and the furious you remember the rock of playing the the law man, and Jason stefon playing the outcast and the rebel these guys. I don't know if this is Hollywood kind of thing, but they tell us that Jason stadium and the rocked wing Johnson. Don't really like each other. And maybe that what the reason we love these characters and show so much because we liked that conflict. I don't know it seems a PR stunt to me, but I'm going to be there because this cars. There's the rock and their Stefa. So you're going to be there to and you know, it, oh and the big deal. Now, everybody has just in the midst of welcoming game of thrones back to their lives. The last season of that. You can't bear to live in a world where you can't see the stark sisters anymore. Well, now, you can dark Phoenix, which is part of the X men universe. Bring Sophie Turner, and she's Jean grey this character that we've seen before. But she's this younger version of her and she split between the good side of her and the dark Phoenix side of her. And to me, these girls are tremendously talented in what they do on game of thrones. And I think we're going to keep seeing them through the years, but her sister her at least game of thrones sister, maisy Williams is in new mutants part of that universe too. But in this case, they're all new characters to do this. They're all gonna be in the X men universe. Doing it. So that's it for the blockbusters that are out there. You've got everything from animation to comic book characters to everything. And that's the stuff that you hear about that your friends are going to talk to you about. But there's gotta be other stuff to part of summer is comedy of. I think we all really have gone through a long winter. And we're saying make us laugh give us something that will just make say, whatever. I can just sit back and not think. So what's there for that? There's a movie called longshot. This is a movie in which Charlotte Theran is playing the secretary of state who is running for president. But falling Manley in love with who staff throw in. Okay. It's like, a beauty and the beasts thing going on here. Seth Rogan is her speechwriter all of her people say what are you doing? You're going to destroy your career. But no, it's love. And if you don't laugh at the combination of Seth Rogan, Charlie staring. There's nothing left for you. And then we have the hustle. The hustle is a movie that used to be called dirty run scoundrels where the old days it was about conman. Now, it's con- women. They're played by Anne Hathaway and rebel Wilson. And they basically go all cross the continent finding rich people whose money they can steal pretty people. Glamour? What's wrong with that? Oh, book smart. This is directed by the actress Olivia Wilde, and it's about girls graduating from high school and saying we spent all our lives with our head in the books. Everybody else is going to parties and having fun. So they're going to do that beanie Feldstein plays one of them. She is the sister of Jonah hill and real life and Jona hill did super bad. This is kind of the women's version of super bad everything in it works, like a charm. You're really going to like that one. Then we have a movie called late night. This is about the TV talk show world and Emma Thompson plays. Probably the only woman on late night TV who hosts her own show, but she's got only men on her writing staff, and then she hires Mindy Kaeling who also wrote the screenplay of this movie, very very funny about what happens when you put women into what basically has been. A male bass they end of doing this. And the combination of Mindy king writing for the great Emma Thompson and watching them perform together is just so you've got to see that one to my favorite kind of thing. The dead. Don't die. You've got to admit that is a great and funny title. It comes from the indie, directing great, Jim Jarmusch. And it's cut people like Bill Murray and Adam driver by zombies. Okay. If Bill Murray is going to go out there and get laughs. Sizing up zombies. I'm going to be there watching him do it. So we have a good chance for laughs horror. I've got to talk about it now because it's not just the Cajun. Oh movie harm movie that makes money any makes people talk and get happy. It's they're everywhere. Now child's play do you? Remember the old child's play movies where you had Chucky. The crazy nut doll that. Always terrified me. Just. This doll who looks kind of little bit weird and freckly, but he has a voice on him like a longshoreman guess who's doing the west now of Chucky Marquel? Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker. And from what I've seen of it in. It's just been a little bit of it. It's wonderfully malevolent, so I'm going to be there to see that one. Then there's Annabel comes home. Another doll another possess doll also part of the conjuring universe where a viewer for Megan Patrick Wilson. Or the demon knowledge is that tried to make sure that nothing bad can come of this horrible doll Annabelle, but Bill will destroy and I will be there to watch her. Do it then them that follow their certain titles that get me them that follow really gets me? And it's about a snake handling church in Appalachia. No, they there are there colts. And they're almost religious cult where people pray. But they have the snakes, and they hold the life thinks pass them on. And you're thinking, what are you tell me about this like CD movie Har movie will guess who the star of this movie is the freshly minted Oscar winner Ogilby Coleman from the favourite, she's tossing those snakes around so irresistible. I think you're gonna love it. Then there's the Nightingale. See it's does not stop. It's har- everywhere. The night and gas from the director, Jennifer Kent who did a thing a couple of years ago called the baba Duke, which gave millions of people nightmares. And now she's back there following a woman who is chasing a convict got to be hooked. And then midsummer midsummer directed by REI Astor who last year gave us hereditary with Toni Collette, a really scary movie. Now, it's at a nine day Swedish holiday where everybody celebrates. But they'll be no celebrating after this one. So we. Got a lot of stuff out there. That's just going to scare us witless. And I couldn't be happier. All right. When summer comes. We think of all the things I've just talked to you about blockbusters comedy horror action, the rock of everything is there, but every even in a season like this. It's all about money and getting us into our theater, there are those movies that can come out entertain us. And also will hear about them at the end of the year when the Oscar nominations come out and the number one movie on that list, and the one that I haven't seen anything of India's of anyone that saw even anything past the trailer is called once upon a time in Hollywood it is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino its stars in order to Capri, oh as a TV star on the wane in Los Angeles. And Brad Pitt as his stunt double whoever thought of

"And leave them. There was like see us load away. That's it. Right. And then come back down a road. It's going to take awhile for God's to get back there. I mean, it just will. Now, this method has been successfully used against God's Zillah many times Godzilla King Kong in earlier movie and King Kong was able to get Godzilla affront bear hug king Adora was able to pick up Godzilla and playoff with them. My favorite name of all the monsters destroy did the same thing, but also drop Godzilla onto a highly explosive area in some facility, that's one of the ways guys died. Allegedly it fair enough if these monsters able to grab Godzilla never mind fly him off and drop them to his doom. What do you think voltron can do who again can move faster in flight super speeds, grabbing Zillow flame off into space and leave employing? There is really not out of the question. He's done that before other max again in the Netflix series now method number two voltron can kind of tell aboard by opening portals. Remember uses the quintessence field in opens up to different parts of the galaxy. So in the Netflix series, they create portals they ply through them, and these these Pearl take him to different parts of the universe. Or what have you why convulse on simply make one of these portals open it and simply push Godzilla into it or trick into going into by luring him in and simply get out really quick. At super speed includes a portal thereby stranding Godzilla away from the field of battle right in some distant galaxy. Now, there's a third method, and that's entered dimensional travel. And this is similar to point number two. Except the portal goes to another dimension. That's something bowl Tron. Again. The legendary. "So you decide the best course of action in the battle is to take that damage because it would put you in a position to counterattack effectively and feature opponent vehicle. Okay. Next question is Godzilla hero or villain. That depends on who you ask. I'm asking you in my mind. Everyone is a hero in their own way. James? Pete is God Zillah a hero or a villain. I'm gonna go full game of thrones on that question because God's will is good sometimes terrible other times. And that's what it is. And that's he's fighting. On the morals might be a little loose. Depends who got Sylla's fighting four really friend. Sometimes is okay. I think there have been enough examples of God Zillah actually trying to protect humanity against another. That's that's the whole point. He's not a clear cut Dylan, oh, not necessarily gonna destroy humans just for the fun of it. But he does often do that as well. Sure. When you fall on things and on things is a dangerous thing for people fair enough. All right. In the in the legendary this the voltron series on Netflix. How often when voltron was formed did an arm come off or leg come off or when attacked? That's that's what I'm trying to. Did he fight God's ill in that series? Because it would happen. Once is he answered your question. That's true. How how did you got do in voltron in the nineteen fifty series of the Godzilla movies? He was so powerful voltron didn't even show his face. That's right guys got killed very quickly in voltron. Like, I don't even I missed it. I'm just gonna stay with actor. Okay. Let me just gets my Altima points point number three. And this is a cheap way to win who would win fight Godzilla. Is that awesome that powerful and raise points are that bad. So I'm gonna actually go ahead and say it, it's battlefield removal time. Okay. So voltron this is really cheap. I'm gonna do it. Anyway, we'll try and has three ways to remove Godzilla from the field of battle number one voltron can grab Godzilla fly off into space.

2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty promises 7.3L V8 and record ratings

"So it's a very exciting time for us at Ford, and specifically F-series so for the first time the public will see the new twenty twenty model year super duty the latest line of innovative and new versions of F-series trucks. Very interesting very big opportunity for us not only here in Chicago. But as we get ready to introduce this later this year, it will be the most capable most powerful. Most innovative heavy duty version of F-series trucks that we've ever built so really exciting opportunity for us. So when you say big all puns intended. Absolutely. This is big. Yes of the super duty line of F-series is what we would typically consider the heavy duty portion of the lineup. So these customers are all about capability, I love I love Brian that the code name is Godzilla. Yeah. That's an internal description for our new seven point three liter v eight gas engine. It'll be the most powerful gas engine we've ever put in a super duty. So it's sort of a an appropriate name. Yeah. It is indeed. And and the trend here for a while, of course, the f one fifty s spend the best-selling vehicle for years. I mean of any vehicle of all vehicles. It's been the best selling for how many years now forty two straight years just that forty two now we're counting. So for forty two years, the best-selling pickup truck the f series, and and because I guess you saw the writing on the wall because more and more people are buying pickup trucks that you really had to scratch your head saying she today really need a pickup truck. Well, they don't really need. It said difference between need and what they want a pickup truck and the people who need them. It turns out needed bigger and bigger pickup trucks, hence, the twenty twenty. Ford super duty pickup, which is is getting more powerful engines Godzilla it's getting all the other things that that you have in this. And along the way you've learned luxury is still very important to just because you get into a big truck doesn't mean you wanna get into something. That's lacking though. Absolutely Paul W we pioneered the luxury portion of the pickup segment years ago actually in the late nineties with the king ranch version of an F one fifty. So they had Texas Southwestern theme to it. Did. So well that we've expanded the higher higher portion of the lineup across both F one fifty and super duty over the last twenty years. So we've been very successful with platinum series Larry at series Ltd's which are most premium versions, and you're right. Many of those customers they appreciate not only the capability of the trucks, but particularly with super duty the heavy duty portion we find those. Tremendous appetite for not only luxury, but technology is

"And sometimes you're so immersed in that second universe of representations ideas, narratives that you don't even you're not even aware of what you're doing. You're just sort of on autopilot. You're driving your car, you're walking down the street, but really, you're living in this imaginative world more. I think more dominantly and that was before we had screens to distract us everywhere we go. Yeah, exactly. I think it's got to be. I don't. I don't know if people are working on this, but I would imagine the younger generation because we're still tethered come an old timer. I'm still. Weathered to the old world where I got these narratives from books or comic books, but screens, I gotta think, well, this is interesting case. Are they amplifying imaginative work? Or are they preventing imaginative work? Because one of the things that they, you know, one of the criticisms that people are starting to see now is that if you're always on a screen and you'll see this like on public transportation, everybody's on the screen, then you're not sort of doing his. I did and I suspect many other people did in the old days is looking out the window and you know, imagining Godzilla coming into the harbour or whatever it was. There was a lot of imaginative work that we did before our eyes were locked into these screens. So that's interesting issue near the beginning of the book. You make some kind of reference to the power of the blank slate where your mind than has a chance to go through a bunch of different permit. Mutations and choose one. Maybe it's when you're talking about improvisation in music, and if you're constantly on the screen, then you're probably keeping that from happening. Yeah, I think that's probably right. And there's even some growing neuroscience to suggest that that might be true because you've got these, you know these two different while many, many systems, obviously in the brain, but to that are getting a lot of attention now are the default mode network, and then what's often called the task positive network? Sometimes it's, it's goes by another name but salience network. But it looks like these are specific areas of the brain that light up, you know, on FM are I machines when you're engaging in certain kinds of activities and when you're trying to do something like I don't know, could be simple, like dig a ditch or complete a form or write something in, you know, even sort of solve something navigational on your. Phone. Your brain is in this task positive network. And then when you stop, sort of trying to solve a specific problem, the brain switches over to this default mode network, which is a little more inward is not sort of directed out to the world. It's more rumination and it sort of wear. I think this a lot of this imaginative work happens. If you're constantly on your phone, what they're suggesting is you're never shifting back into this default mode network, which is where most of the really creative stuff happens. That's where that's the kind of idea blender. You know that that we need to go to in order to get fresh ideas, and we may be preventing ourselves particularly younger people from going to that mode of consciousness and might be bad for the imagination down the road. Talk a little bit about what you're talking about. The book about the body would not just this disembodied brain where we're a body and the body is a product. Fact of evolution as is our social construct for the. I just mean that in general, human beings evolved in a social environment and we still maintain a lot of the behaviors and actual physical physicality that came from growing up as a species in that situation. So before I go on for too long, talk about how the body has been neglected as part of the imaginative engine. And what you mean by bringing it back into consideration of improvisation imagination that conversation's been missing..

"Very well timed points because my final point is a direct rebuttal to that my final point and you knew this was coming. So grab a pack of circus. My final point is a Tomic breath. Now, crystal, let me make this really clear. Don't don't fall for James is blinds you with fake science. Godzilla Godzilla could straight up destroy strict. Godzilla could straight up destroy the mega sword in one shot of atomic breath. That's my bullet points for this issue. James has already argued that the power sword could somehow destroy Godzilla. However, in the fifty, three appearances of the mega sword, the power swords attack was only able to destroy its Hodel of twenty monsters which James already said, but I had already written that down before even said it. So he's just backing up my point and that was before the monsters just became. Came to powerful for this mega swords defeats and why they upgraded to the funders awards by season two. So twenty monsters out of fifty three appearances for this mega sword that's less than fifty percents effectiveness against the weakest monsters that the Rangers ever faults and Godzilla is what the king of the monsters. And he's also nuclear. The atomic energy inside Godzilla gives him many abilities. One being his healing factor. Now, even if the power sword attack connected with Godzilla Godzilla uses his inner atomic energies to heal. He did this after taking major damage from mecca Godzilla and that film godzillas entire body. He had taken a ton of hits his body radiated blue and like it does when he's gonna use Tomek breath. But in this instance, he used. His atomic energy as a healing power to bring himself back to full power in seconds, and that was in God's delivers mecca. Godzilla James mentioned that maybe the power sword restores the mega sword, but Godzilla does not need an outside stimulus. It's inside him and also as James just pointed out and made my arguments a whole lot easier. The mega Zoar doesn't come standard with the power sword. According to James, it's orbiting the earth. Well, only the red ranger can summit, so let's assume that he's still there, but he only does. So in every instance, after the fights been going on for a while, so we've got to assume that Jason is still alive and able to summon the sword from outer space. When he does some in it, it has to travel from space to the mega sword. Well, how long does that take? I mean, going by the show takes a couple of verses of the Power Rangers theme song. We just gotta assume that God's was just kinda standing there like bumping his claws to the music and you know, waiting for the sword to show up from space, or, you know, maybe while the Rangers are summoning the sword, I don't know. Godzilla just unload with his atomic breath. One shot of godzillas atomic breath is enough to set in tire city's on fire, and if the atomic breath doesn't kill you, it generates nuclear fallout. So if the blast doesn't kill everyone, the fallout will this atomic breath has melted steel like it was butter and that's included. Extraterrestrial metals such as space, titanium that that's the substance mecca Godzilla is made from and it's much stronger than any earth steal. The atomic breath can also punch through over one hundred tons of rock in one shot, and it's also so powerful that Godzilla has used it to literally lift himself off the ground and. Propel himself as fast as a jet in flight YouTube, that it looks hilarious. It's just as cool as the sweet drop kick, but the Tomek breaths accuracy is also incredible. He was able to while standing on earth hits a planet, destroying meteor in space with his atomic breath. So if he sees that soared coming, he can just hit the sword with his atomic breath. If he doesn't decide to hit the mega sword. Now with the mega awards, finite power and all the times it's been defeated before. "Okay. Well, I'll continue on with point number three point. Number three is more mega sword limitations. Crystal, I think is hilarious that James is trying to convince you that the mega sword is this like mobile powerhouse when it can't even jump of aside from that, I would have to say that the biggest limitation for the mega sword has to be the fact that it's operated by five teenagers just barely old enough to have driver's licenses. Now, each of the Rangers may there's awards all make up the final mega word and the mega sword has to be piloted by all of them. The red ranger Jason, we've already talked about him. He seems to have central control the sword. And one thing of note, he is always the one responsible for summoning the power sword in every use. So every use of the power sword, it had to be summoned by Jason. Jason has also ordered the pink ranger Kimberly to control the communications on the sword and the black. Rangers Zack has handled these secondary and the rarely used weapons ones that James mentioned like the mastodon shield, the ice blaster and cranial lasers on the mega Zoar. Jason has also ordered to divert power to him suggesting that Zach may be in charge of power distribution and the blue and yellow Rangers roles are unknown. But since there's awards make up the feats of the mega sword, it's possible that they handle like the forward motion and any events. I say all that because the mega sword has such a huge disadvantage of needing five separate minds to control it as opposed to God Zillah who only has one because Godzilla only has to destroy the red ranger, and this battle is over and the red ranger. He is a person he's, he's squishy. He's human. I mean, he's got all the protection of his cloth Power Rangers suits or maybe it's made out of some kind of spandex. I don't know, but Godzilla could take out the Rangers in the cockpits. And d'izoard would either be severely handicapped or just probably unable to function if it didn't have all the Rangers to pilot. Now, one of God's was biggest advantages in this fight. Also just to get onto more mechanical shortcomings for the mega sword. Godzilla does not have to breathe and he can fight underwater indefinitely. Now, James mentioned that Godzilla has a lost King Kong. I take a lot of issue with that. Number one, he fought version of King Kong that had to be enhanced in size just to even be tall enough to fight Godzilla, but in the wrong vs Godzilla fight. That fight ended with them going underwater and only call came back up, which made no sense when you consider that Kong has lungs and has to breathe, and Godzilla can fight underwater indefinitely. But the mega sword is not waterproof, and we've already said angel grove is a seaside city. We seen all the episodes where the dragonzord emerge. Urges from the docks to fights in the episode of Power Rangers and alster Stu, the Rangers fight a pretty bad ass monster called the derise her. And in that battle, the mega sword actually goes underwater to fight him. And Jason immediately says, the mega sword wasn't meant to fight underwater. So in that they had to call in the dragonzord for hell, and they can't call in to help for this fight. And I would say Godzilla may even be faster underwater the way is tale can propel him as he moves across the coast by swimming, very, very fast in the movies. So even if all the tiny squishy and fragile Power Rangers managed to survive the hits from Godzilla in the cockpit, if he pulls the mega sword underwater, the fight is over and the Rangers also have to breathe. That was my point number three. So just to clarify, Jay, you're saying that if God's pretty much just smashed his fish through fish through and grabbed a ranger fight over. Yeah, there's no one to pilot the. Mega mega sword loses. Okay. Sh wanted clarify win..

"This was the the paper TV guide I and I read it so many times because one of the things that wrote was it says the old swords, the mega sword, they're no match for lords ED's monsters. So this villain piranhas head. It took out the swords beyond repair zord on's magic had to upgrade them into the. Under swords and soared on told them at the time that lords ED's monsters were now too powerful for the mega sword. And from here on out, they'd have to use the upgraded thunders. Ords Godzilla don't need no stinking upgrades and the mega zord again. So soundly defeated in green with evil part four. This is another episode. James said that Godzilla doesn't do well in a against multiple opponents. I don't know where he's getting that idea the mega word in this episode, green with evil part for it could not take on three kinds you at once those being the giant versions of gold, our score Pena and the giant green ranger. Now Godzilla has no problem with multiple kaija at once. There was one in final wars. He battled mothra, king Caesar and anguish area set the same time to feeding them all at once. And there's multiple movies where he's fault, many you. I don't know where James is getting that idea, but the the piranhas head to get back to him the one that defeated the mega sword. For good is very similar to the opponent Godzilla defeated in just his second film, and actually the very first enemy that God Zillah ever faced that was in nineteen fifty five's Godzilla raids. Again, this was a guy are of a monster called and warious, and I'm really not sure if I'm pronouncing it right. They had some things in common. They both had the jaws in common, but angriest was probably even tougher. He was a dinosaur, not a fish, and he had a hardened shell with spikes that piranhas head even lattes Godzilla defeated him with just a bite to the neck, and then incinerated his body with a shot of atomic breath, which really does not have to be charged. It comes straight out of his mouth and his scales shimmer I don't know of charge. So that's just one of the many limitations of the mega sword is the first model it's quickly replaced. And I mean, do you ever get it right on the first draft? Crystal. I do. I see what you did there. James, I see. Listen, Jay, I get what you're doing. You're channeling your inner angst through through Godzilla in directing it towards the mega by saying, you know, it's the first one and it kinda sucks. It gets beat up quite a bit replace the first season to the. I'm almost wondering if you're really talking about something else fattening. I don't know anyway, I I'm not gonna read into too much. I have a question for you. Are you familiar with space Godzilla? Yes, I am. I am. Who wouldn't be. I mean, everyone is. It's taught in school says, well, it should be crystal. You know, we were talking about space Godzilla last week and how how did God dill beat space? Godzilla just wondering. I'm not sure if space godzillas in the continuity I'm discussing right now and I'm not saying he isn't. I've just gone over so many Godzilla things to get ready for this that I m as confused as hell. So why don't you lay it out for us? James, absolutely. So space. I can't believe I'm saying space. Got Dila is can you imagine that pitch meeting by the way. Right? All these men and women at our desk, but they were saying, like, you know, what can we do? Let's see. There's gut Zillah. There's Martha. There's all these different things we could do. There's baby Godzilla. What can we do with this? We need something absolutely original never seen before space. Godzilla let's doing cool and what the space Godzilla look like. Exactly. Like Godzilla except let's stick some crystals. All this is kind of weird. They have crystals coming out of its back speaking personal and it has a horn on its head. So space Godzilla was to Pete it by the combined efforts of Godzilla and this MEC from the the activists Moga wehre. So ammo g u e r in never knew how to pronounce it. And it's like this had Vance, MAC, giant seismic that together they beat it my whole point in saying that is Godzilla in its ears and God Dylan, all of its upgraded forms right from the beginning all the way until even recent films, not the American ones, but the really cool Japanese version..

"Hello, James, welcome back from Comecon thanking Larry. It was a fun week of great news for shown fairs, including the return of popular Star Wars series. Some great footage of Godzilla aquaman and wonder woman, and the doctor made a house call in San Diego from Great Britain. So it was a lot of fun and you can read all about it at Donald news dot com. So now you're all rested and ready to go. What's the news? It's the best working vacation ever. Let's go Nikon. Officially announce their full frame merely camera. It isn't often that the rumor mill of spot on Larry, but in the case of Nikon's new merely camera it is with a huge sixty five millimeter lens opening the Nikon, f, z, full frame camera will likely borrow a lot of features from the eight fifty, including a variant of their home grown sensor that they put in the fifty last year. It will come in two different models, a higher and professional forty, eight megapixel model, and then the consumer grade twenty four megapixel model. Both will shoot four k. video with Nikon's flat raw profile, and it has a new Zima lend system and Nikon assures everyone that though have an gap there so that everybody can continue using their legacy lenses and look for it to come out by the. Spring of twenty nineteen. Why Assam mirror less cameras. So important. I mean, DSL are still dominant. Aren't they? Well, yeah, but not for very much longer reports are showing that merely camera sales and rentals are beginning to outpace DSL ours. It's exciting to see Nikon putting a lot into a higher in Maryland model, and if it's half as good as the fifty, I think Nikon sure going to have a winner that could leapfrog them into the higher in camera game and go ahead with the Sony alpha series. It'd be interesting to see how cannon response to and the talk is we're going to know about that pretty soon. All right. That's Nikon. What's our next story? Apple has addressed issues with thermal throttling and the new Matt book pro. Apparently, there was a quote unquote missing digital key, which was causing the macbook pro to throttle down almost instantly below its rated specs during higher performance applications like rendering video and game playing that type of thing. So apple issued a firmware fix that. Not only solves the thermal through. Totaling problem, but brings the benchmarks backup to the performance specs in its rated range. What's your thinking about the facts? Thrilled that apple responded quickly to it rather than doing the typical song and dance that takes forever like the butterfly keyboard issue had. But my problem is how many times since Tim cook took over, have we heard about bugs that are plaguing the performance of apple products? I'm not talking about a little bugs. I'm talking about major bugs that affect battery performance in processor performance. It's almost expected now Ghana, the gaze at apple saying it just works and it's clear to me that the company is more interested in sales numbers than releasing a product that is as ready as the hype says, it's of Jayme software is much more complex today than it was say, ten years ago, it seems unrealistic to expect almost everything to work perfectly. That's a fear criticism I grant you, but you have to admit that we've all been spoiled by. Job Sonian expectations. Steve Jobs was obsessed about releasing a product that was perfect, and Tim cook just isn't that way k. that's apple. What's our third story and Sony has updated the firmware for the Senate Alta Venice Cima camera being used for projects, ranging from music videos to commercials to features,.
