The regional benchmark index is slid by almost 2% in morning trade with tekken industrials the worst performing sectors were also seeing U.S. equity futures slide the dollar, pushing towards a more than one month high and bonds selling off amid this steepening inversion of the U.S. yield curve. Also watching China setting a stronger than expected fix for the fourth day, the yuan reference rate at 6.898698 excuse me against the dollar we were talking earlier to our guest, as well about what this means with China potentially trying to stem the decline in the yuan when you have got this near two year low against the dollar. When it comes to some specific moves in other currencies, we are seeing the Thai baht of about 7 tenths of 1% the Japanese yen is down a half of 1% at one 38 spot two 9. An economist turning more bearish about China's economy downgrading their growth forecasts further for 2022, according to a Bloomberg survey that China economy will expand 3.8% in the third quarter down from a prior rate of 4.2% and the economy overall for 2022 projected to grow just three and a half percent this year down from a previous forecast of 3.9% this according to Bloomberg's latest quarterly survey of economists, just adding to the gloomy news Goldman now seeing a UK economy entering recession into the fourth quarter. Back over to Brian Curtis in Hong Kong. All right, thanks very much, Jules. Well, it's not just the fed, but the ECB must act forcefully to contain record inflation. That's what we're hearing from some governing council members. You try to keep expectations for future price growth anchored. And let's hear some more comments here from governing council member, Ali ren, speaking with Bloomberg's Kathleen Hayes at Jackson hall. J Powell gave a speech that people said was undecided hawkish firmly focused on inflation doing whatever it takes. We've heard some other hawkish talk here at this event. The last couple of days, what does this mean for your Central Bank? What kind of pressure does it potentially put on the ECB to step up with a hawkish message too? I'm usually quite skeptical about distinction between doubts and hawks, I would say that the Jackson hall meeting this time reflected pragmatism and reality and the reality is that we have an excessively high inflation globally also in Europe and that's not to know caused by the war in Ukraine, Russia's illegal brutal war in Ukraine. And the subsequent anti crisis we are suffering from that's why it's action time and our mandate is price stability and we will work accordingly. Action time. Does that mean step on the gas? Does it mean accelerate speed up a bit? It means that we will have to take into account the excessively high inflation which is clearly exceeding our target it's largely in its inflation roughly half, but it's spreading to the rest of the economy. And that's why it's important that we have to now and we will contain inflation expectations rising so that we can keep them anchored. In fact, we started our normalization of monetary policy already in December and we are continuing consistent and orderly monetary policy monetary policy normalization. If you see signs, however, that these price pressures may be spreading, broadening out the worst fear of an infection or one of the worst fears of a central banker is that these inflation moves start getting entrenched. Are you concerned about that? And would that be another reason to say maybe we have to get a little more aggressive? We are concerned about it becoming entrenched, although I have to say that there is a difference or actually some differences between the United States and the Euro area for the moment. I name just three one is there is a stronger demand in the United States because of fiscal policy. Second, the energy component is more complicated for Europe, obviously because we are dependent on imported energy. And third, the labor market is red hot in the United States and weights increases have been clearly much higher than in Europe. But we are seeing also rates is increased understandably in Europe and now it's important that we maintain the anchor which is relatively moderate rates inflation and we will contain inflation expectations becoming de uncooked. What do you stand or sit right now on the question of 50 or 75 basis points? And that September meeting, do you see more pressure there? Or maybe not just more pressure but maybe more need to do something like that, or at least consider it. Be raised rates in July by 50 basis points. The next step will be a significant move in September. Depending on the incoming data on the economic inflation outlook. It will be the number one thing to tilt your position to say, well, maybe it's time to go for 75. I think it's important not to jump the gun and let's see the figures in September. We will get the next economic projects and exercise in front of us prior to the meeting. And we will have the latest incoming data in September, then we will see, as I said, we have a clearly accessibly high inflation in Europe now and this means that according to our mandate, which is price stability, we have to act now and to monetary policies now facing the dilemma of on one hand maintaining inflation expectations, uncut and on the other hand, avoiding that we will push the economy unnecessarily to a resistance because of monetary policy. There are other reasons we may be may have a we may have to face a resistance but not monetary policy. What would that be other reasons be? Clearly, that we are in a severe, we have a severe energy crisis in Europe and this is reflected in the availability and price of electricity, gas, other forms of energy in Europe. And it is quite likely that the Eurozone economies slowing down is slowing down as we speak and the risk of

Asian stocks and U.S. equity futures have taken a tumble this morning. Fed chief Jay Powell warned of the potential for economic pain for both households and businesses. And this kind of visceral language contrasted with earlier market bets for reductions in rates coming next year if growth were to slow. And equities took the brunt of the haircut, the moves were somewhat more muted in the treasury bond market, shorter term yields did rise. The long end was steady, it deepened the yield curve inversion. That for some points, it does indicate to some people that recession is coming. I'll get to the numbers in a moment. Liz Ann Saunders at Charles Schwab said, once the fed gets to whatever the final hike is, it's going to stay there for a while. And she said, the market had trouble digesting that notion. This is a Bloomberg business flash. All right, well, we are certainly at the moment, not late to see people investors taking on my wrist today. It's promising also to be one where we're likely to see a lot of volatility. Futures suggest that we'll be likely seeing some fools for Tokyo and Sydney markets they get underway in just under 13 minutes from now. Meanwhile, Hong Kong may well have a little bit of support from what was essentially and relatively a good session Friday for some of those Chinese U.S. listed equities. Also futures, they're adding perhaps to the downdraft as well talking U.S. futures, which are heading even further into the red. In fact, now NASDAQ futures at one and a half percent down whereas S&P minis and 1.2% in the red variant. China stocks also perhaps will reflect some of the global equity declines at this Monday, but they may well further get a leg down with that poor industrial profit stage in which came out over the weekend. All of this all in the week of fed Jerome pound's fresh warning on Friday about interest rates heading higher and staying there for some time investors having a few issues digesting that idea that once they get to whatever final interest rate hike is that they're going to be staying there for a while dwells top center bank is delivering essentially a stern and unified message on the need to curb inflation saying that they're just going to be staying there and the Bloomberg spot dollar spot index really at the moment and adding to the gains we've seen Ozzy dollar a tad lower this Monday but it does seem to be at the moment Sterling, which is carrying the brunt of it about half a percent down now, but an hour and a half ago we were trading about a $1 17 and 20 we are not $1 1691. Also got the Euro weakening further below parity. All of that more, of course, to be really at the moment gone through when the session kicks off proper. It's likely to be a volatile one, future suggesting false Tokyo and Sydney markets Hong Kong seeming to be supported by a relatively good session for Chinese ADRs. you don't have price stability And this is interpreted to mean that the fed is all about the path to fighting inflation to getting restrictive not just to neutral And so we'll have to see whether or not that plays out in the coming days but on Wall Street today S&P 500 was up 3% In Asian markets we have gains in Hong Kong Australia and Taiwan China opened lower after being on holiday all week and companies facing possible delistings that added more than 80 companies including JD.com pen door door and Billy Billy to this expanding list of firms that face possible expulsion excuse me from American exchanges Let's get more now with Edwin Chan Bloomberg's Asia tech Lima leader who joins us from Hong Kong So this is just really going to upset investor sentiment at the time when we'd been hoping for a deal between regulators in Beijing and Washington tell us the latest Edwin Yes Thanks Julia I think the consensus right now is that at least from the Chinese side there is some sort of resolve to try and try and fix the situation Bloomberg has reported for instance that the CSR C is marshaling some kind of effort to open up at least some of the audit work papers to U.S. regulators And that includes a state owned enterprise which is a step I think It would never have considered previously but again from the Chinese side it seems to be some kind of impetus to resolve this situation Now from the U.S. side it's less clear I think in terms of peak as we call it in terms of the audit rules there are very clear guidelines on the fact that they want access to all the audit working papers that we know very negotiations going on between both sides But right now the fact that the SEC continues to add Chinese companies to the list means that we're not at the point where we can point to a grapefruit When this began from the China's perspective it was always the concern about access to big data and not so much the accounting rules Is that changed in any way That's a much broader issue but you're right The overarching fear here from the Beijing side of things is that overseas listed Chinese companies would be sort of a window or an avenue through which sensitive Chinese data would be leaked to foreign forces as it were So that was the central issue that ensnared Dede are back in June or July of last year when they listed the CDC law immediately launched its crackdown on data security within the right sharing giant precisely because it was concerned that the rush to hit the listing and that they would be vulnerable future over the long term to data leakage Let's talk as well about what we're seeing with China's hike vision I mean it is plummeted by the 10% limit with the U.S. mulling these new sanctions on this company as well So this is the first Chinese tech firm added to the so called far reaching list It just kind of shows you how much I guess uncertainty to my earlier point there is an investing in a lot of these companies but what are the latest sanctions here Yeah so high vision had been added about three years ago to various what we call sanctions lists of black blacklists including the pretty well-known entities list the same one that ensnared Huawei Many years ago the fresh curves that White House is now considering is more far reaching I think it extends not just to the sale of American technology and American businesses doing business with hike vision It pretty much is sort of a blanket ban on doing business with this company Now hike vision has been one of the more high profile companies at the center of the controversy over the treatment of Muslim minorities in Santiago Which as you know is kind of a hot button issue in the U.S. as well And a persistent point of tension between Beijing and Washington So I'm sorry to interrupt dead when I was just looking at the Hangzhou tech index a year to date we're down nearly 23% but if you look at the damage done over the last 52 weeks we're off more than 46% Have institutions by and large thrown in the towel when it comes to tech stocks exposed to China I think sentiment waxes and wanes on Chinese textiles in general I would say that the easiest way to think about it right now is that investors are sort of shot after sort of an unprecedented 2021 in which everybody was subject to the winds of change from Beijing and to central of regulations that even to this day I think the.

"Room dot com and check out thousands of great cars. Dak prescott is set to play in his first game action since last october and there are some pretty high expectations the qb not only as dallas expected to challenge for the division crown with him under center but dak is also garnering buzz for comeback player of the year and mvp and of course. He's got the mega contract. He signed this off season that he's looking to live up to as well leading cowboys insider tim cowlishaw to write prescott dot paid. Now it's time to play Shannon was there more pressure on deck to prove you deserve the contract or to prove he can live up to the contract had to prove both because what he was asking for was more than what people thought he was gonna get or what he deserved so he had to put up numbers to say. Look i'm worthy of this type of contract but now this is where the pressure really really starts and this is what i've told you before we had this conversation with people saying there's more pressure on that i mean. Excuse me own. Zeke than dag skip. It's always going to be more pressure on the quarterback since they changed the rule since they opened up to feel with the way. You can attack the quarterback the defensive receiver the illegal contact. The clinton grabbing. They've opened up the field. So if made it incumbent that you have a very good quarterback the pressure is the mon derrick. Henry is on ryan donahue. The pressure is on kareem hood. In nick its own baker mayfield. The pressure isn't only zeke elliott. The pressure is on that prescott. One he plays. The most important position is what you've told me. Second of all. He has the ball in his hand every single play and now he has that mammoth contract. He got forty million everybody for the most part nobody. He's not getting that money overplayed his. Hey that's too much money. They wanna give him what they gave. jerry golfing carson win. Which i told you give set for that. You'll have to pay him so for me. The pressure is on dak prescott at my mind just talking about this because everybody will say well he got to do it. This you know the contract is up a one year. The contract is for four years. So you gotta play the long game. Also don't think just because he doesn't get it done bisher he devin have three more to get it done. He has three more years. His thing is now. I'm ex. he's going to have that some point time. Get this team to an nfc championship. Game skipped. He just can't win. The division are terrible to be at that. He can't just win one playoff game. He's going to have to get to an nfc championship game in eventually. Get them to a super bowl greed for people to say you know what that was money well spent. Yeah harry yep for in his eyes to realize that you know what that was the right thing to do because jerry keep saying is not what are you saying. That helps us oh five. It didn't seem to be the case last year in leading up until he got the contract he didn't think that was the pied piper. He didn't fake. There was an around him. he didn't think it was the guy that would learn something on the track and field and be able to translate it and take it to the game. He didn't think that now all of a sudden he thinks bet. Will he pigs that. Because you know what i gave it around forty meal. Now he'd like get you know it other businesses second third pretty good. Yeah hey i might not have the highest market cap but if the third. I pretty good but this here. Okay my turn but before i go i would like to alert our audience to the fact that during the break shannon sharpe stole my jersey stole it and now he is defiled it he is tainted it. He is jinxed it might have been get another one. Yeah we got a rate. Do the real brady jerry. That does get a brady. Hater has touched golden gods jersey. That's all you need to know. And that is bad. News taylor true like brady border the cab. Credible hawking jersey apart. You're going to throw my jersey before this segment is as i know it i go. I saw i tell the truth. Is i want to know who i america whose first cowboy brave. I need to know it goes cowboys. Ernestine brady thank you labradors. They let him in the house. We have laundry. We gotta get this laundered for the show is over back to dak. Here's my view of prescott. I believe after the first three games of two thousand nineteen he and his agent. Todd france zip clearly new agent at that point put their heads together and said wait a second. I just lit up three straight teams. I am leading the national football league and qbr. I am averaging ninety one. Just talk about alex. Smith hat or ninety-one dak averaged ninety one. Qbr's run away with it after three games against the new york giants and at washington and miami at home and those teams were going to be three and thirteen three and thirteen five and eleven bad football teams in to your credit mr hall of famer you kept pointing it out every monday garbage team garbage time garbage team. Garbage time right okay. So still they went to war with jerry jones. Remember jerry said after opening day at gerry world. we're close rate. Is he used the word. Immanent right imminent as in what. I'm talking about days in the next few days were done as in we gotta cross t.'s. Dot is and sign the bottom line because we have shaken hands on the money right. Am i right. Yes and somehow that rug got jerked right out from under jerry jones and he was not happy about it and they went to contractual. War rolled warned him pass. Do not invite him where it got ugly over the next couple of months right right right and i thought something was done remember. They just had done zeke. He came back from kabul and they made him the highest paid running back and i thought wa going. We go by opening day. I thought the tandem would be in place. Dak would get his mind and it went on and it went on and it went on so waited everybody starts to say that is something. He stood up to jerry and he is betting on himself. How many times did you hear that down. The stretch of twenty nineteen so they go from three zero to finishing five and eight. And i'm here to tell you. Dak prescott crumbled under that pressure to show jerry worth however many millions. He was about to get right. I thought it was the worst case scenario for back because over these last thirteen games as they go five and eight. He ranked fifteenth by pro football. Focus rankings among quarterbacks so he was just a middle of the pack and. I can't give him any better than that. Because you know what kept happening. Big road losses at jets at new england ashikaga buffalo on thanksgiving new orleans. That was early and then late was at philly. And that look like an average quarterback to me. And i'm thinking remember that's why jerry starting to have second thoughts about. Do i really want to do this. And it drags on and on and on into last year. So how did he open up last year. We'll he played really well against the rams on opening night right sunday night. Then i'm hoping he repeats. That performance tonight at tampa bay but they came within one bad. Call on you. Remember on gallup on jalen ramsey where they call it a push off on on my Often he did not pay ridiculous but they came close to at least tying that game going to overtime. So i'll give you that game and then here we go atlanta in the home opener has them down twenty nine to ten at half like you. Always tell me the cowboys. Get the ball in the first half. You got the ball. They're down thirty nine to twenty four with eight minutes to go in the game where they getting the ball. Yeah they're getting the ball and obviously defense was historically bad but some out. Miraculously they pull that one out when forty thirty nine. Thanks to the watermelon onside kick..
