"They did pay Jones. They let him walk, but they've got jalen Smith. They gotta Pay Lane Vandross. They're gonNA, pay WHO's the defensive and they have their. demarcus Lawrence is one of the highest paid players at his position so like they That's the last team that has any on pay him, so it'll be interesting to see kind of what happens his saga, but that is a preview of the AFC east. It should be I mean. AMC Stephen I don't know if. The Buffalo Bills Ochre. I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots wanted, but the bills I feel like are more of a new one eleven St. The bills the bills are more of a known commodity right now. We don't know what the pats are GonNa look like with Cam and without their addresses so I mean. Let's see how the cookie crumbles Bill Belichick is. The best coach of all time, so it will do what he needs to do to make to have seen. Be Successful. I thought they were going to be around eight with. Jared stood up. I did I. Don't think anybody. Cam Newton by certainly add a couple of games that if he is the Cam Newton that we have been accustomed to seeing the twenty nineteen, so we'll see how it goes, but they they are a roster that's built similarly to the Carolina Rosters of past with not a lot of talent receiver outside of against Julian Edelman. And they are built around in the trenches and the running game, so it is it I think it could work I. Even given their track record I wouldn't feel comfortable. Picking the Pats to win the division at this point that could change them for the season by bills when I. Just think they're solid in all facets. And then you, you're picking the pats though right. Not, picking PAT so. I just never picked the PATS. On Day I just can't my blood. I just can't. I gotTa hate the pets. This is what I gotta do. Take the cavs right. Fuck you gas, fuck. No I think. I'm along side of you I. Think being honest. I said this other day I was like I'm picking just to win the division, and then I re more articles. Adams and on and on and I'm like man. That was bad. Take will. I really want to see them visas successful. But I think I'm alongside used even if you got the buffalo bills, and where where the other bill where they are as a franchise in organization. "I want to paraphrase all about himself, but really feeding into his own ego. We know with the Patriots, and it's been proclaimed with global, quenneville interview to a lot of sprints Brandon Marshall. Two guys that have had coaches that have been in New England they. Bill. Tom Brady. They take everybody down a peg, so if Cam Newton is going to have to be open to criticism from the head coach if he can't hit you know Sony Sony Michelle on the flat. Everybody's going to be open to I'm interested to see how his personality adapts and Mold Salah Locker Room. I think that's going to be a key. Indicator about how the PATS ARE GONNA. Do this season. I think you're hundred percent. Right Stephen Shea. What's the leash on Cam Newton? Right? Let's just say we're saying. Cam Newton is start right now and you have Brian Hoare and. Jarret Stidham. How long you ought to invest in this Cam Newton, project if he's not efficient as they need him to be. Even with customizing offers even with making things more efficient for him because I I look at it like this. For can't like in Appalachia, brought up the whole Warren. Moon, PC's decided when when our fancy to listen to that war mood wounds, said something very interesting. When he talked about Cam in particular goes can doesn't drink. Doesn't do drugs never has hand doesn't party? Everything you see Cam. Do that's can. And with that said Cam operates to his own beat Mito Bill Belichick is judge. Juror and execution and he keeps everybody on the same playing field I. I'm interested to see at what point does camps say you know what maybe this just isn't for me? Because we understand that there is no I didn't have no option. If you will is no option to bring them back, he's he. He pretty much signed a one year. Deal a deal to. I guess jolt some energy into his Durant, and maybe somewhere else he can land up. Bobby better suits him and where he wants to be. New England's where he wanted to be. I just felt like he had opportunity because Josh mcdaniels I think somebody put a bug in and say listen if Tim, Tibo draws. WHO's no. LONGER NFL Tim. On this man God Damnit Cam you Chan. And plus you're. You're going into a situation where it's a winning tradition now you can learn how to win and be a part of something that's bigger than you because means at Carolina. Was the franchise. It was all cam all cam valid. They had a good enough Davis. I don't want to sit on this beaches to solve I. Know Charles Johnson. I know a bunch of guys. But Cam was it. However in New England Cam, won't be it mill Bella check in that system in that culture. Is it a whole six super bowl trophies? Ham had nothing to do with any of that candy. Welcome to the situation being humble ready to work ready to get better, and if things don't go bad, I'm interested to see. Is he going to pack it in, or you can continue to grind to figure it out and we just gotTa wait and see I, mean is he? GonNa be post game. Press cowers, win or loss. Is he going to be dressed up like a Batman villain in for in front of the Patriots and Zuhdi Co branded backdrop. WHY NOT THE PROBLEM IS! At. What point does bill tired of it? Because we understand this better check was tired of the TV twelve method right? Yeah, he was tired of Guerrero. A tired of players believe in in the TB. Twelve method when they had trainers, and they had a whole operation to handle to handle the guys within a New England. So if he had a problem with Tom Brady and how Tom Brady operated. You Damn sure to believe he's going to have a problem with Cam and his rhetoric and high dresses, and all that all the stuff that comes along with it because they're. The Patriots are known for not being fun. If you will but God damn it, they win and everybody that walks out of that damn building with past current. present without higher. You say it their winners and they're super bowl winners that means something and so can cam now. Get, is Campbell cut his hair and a cut out to get the hats and stuff probably not is Warren Moon, said it. I wasn't enough to get CAM right. I doubt bill going to be enough to get camera and what right knees and then I got to clarify that because I know some people. What can nobody be an individual? No. Listen what right is not not making it that making yourself a distraction when people start talking about about your your clothes and what you're saying. Rather than how you perform, that's the PROB and that's. That's cams narrative right now. People are more interested a people more interested about what he looks like. It was coming out his mouth in his antics ballot May, they may be good or bad people more interested in that camp actually bowl, and that wasn't like that early in his career. Because when you do at any imagery on any highlight of Camden. He was destroying. He was a beast and he was a big time threaten. The problem can't Cam. Get back to that guy where we're talking about Cam Newton's performance now what he's wearing a what he's saying at the press at a press conference. I mean it'll be really interesting. This is going to be one of the more interesting marriages that we've seen in recent history interesting fact is that Bill Bill You alluded to? It was tired of Alex Guerrero part of the TB. Twelve method is you can't eat strawberries mobile. Check huge strawberry. I actually don't know that productivity. Twelve method is actually you're supposed to your body weight so I think like two hundred five pounds, so you're supposed to drink your body weight in ounces of water every day, so two hundred five ounces. That's like..

"Came from the mud as they were saying. Instill here fifteen right now. Would you go even if it happened to be San Francisco. Will you know everybody. They made up in the Super Bowl. You don't have a ring you know what it is only playoff times. You probably GONNA play two games and to walk away with a camera and camera have a camera on his side and document the whole series get picked up by net flicks. You know what man I going into the off season you know I I wanted to retire. Obviously I wanted to play even before I got league on the one to play ten years. you know I want. I want it to be able to walk away from the game because I got three kids. I got three little boys. They're all athletes. And so I was like you know what I don't want to limp away from the gay. Hey like I wanNA leave the game feeling like I could still play because if I feel like I can still play the now. I know I can play my kids I know I can when we go to. The track can run. I can run with them. I don't have to just sit there and tell them. Hey do this. I showed him what to do. Like I can be very influential with them so I want it that ability and so When I made my ten years in you know going into the I knew okay like this is probably my last year you know? He had a in a great great situation for me to play this year and for tonight's going to make you a replayed with all that for you because I am reading your story knowing your story. I haven't played against you. You're wanted to guys right and I'm blessed to have have played in the Super Bowl and was chevy you champion for life. So that's why I'm a mess of what you want that for you for that did it'd be a great cabinet career and you only have to play through games you know and I thought about that as off season I was like did you really. Yeah because like you know what if I got a chance to go to San Francisco That I it was cool and it didn't happen right but for me. I was never one of those guys that was like I wanted to chase the ring like I was one of those guys that was like you know what there's a ton of great players that never want rings and I was like for me if I look in the mirror when I'm done and say I played as hard as I could. I did everything I could and I understand that winning the ring is not an individual thing team is if if I could look in the mirror and say I did everything I could. I respect the game. I played his I'm cool with not wearing the ring because I look back. And I think about the Organiz ation felt like impacted. You know sound like they're not saying that it was just me but when I love Houston in two thousand thirteen they. They went to fourteen the next year right and I felt like it was a big part of it. I love Detroit this year last year I did have been there and like at three and nine and you don't say so. I'm not saying that like I would MRIs but it's more to win to winning than just having great players you know so you need because he says you need the Google and so for me like I I was never into just chaser rings man. I know what I did what I could. You know. We've got close a couple of times you know but so I wouldn't feel comfortable going to San Fran and like riding the Kotel I gotta ring. You may feel a little different different without career. Obviously great do And I wish you all the best and I love story brother appreciate you ever quit coma Goldmember since you are willing. That was our interview with Glover. Quin former safety for the Detroit Lions and Houston. Texans Xingu played a little but a corner for Houston. Willie was your favorite part of that interview I think for me. I liked him talking about well. Like I said Said we're GONNA show and we talk about my role with the Pittsburgh steelers. I always say I was kind of like the enforcer I liked how he said he was kind of the glue. Yeah that I appreciate that because there are guys who are the glue on teams For me I was the glue a little bit But there are other guys especially on the steelers like you know Troy Pall Mall believe it or not was Kinda blue i Taylor was Kinda blue And so for him the car I acknowledge college what his role was an outside of this the football landscape of being accordion and a safety he got. I was able to talk to guys that most people can't talk to. You know talk about his time in Detroit how you know He. He's a Newbie. You Know He. He wasn't drafted by Detroit. And now he highlighted sue had respect for him and he had respect pursue and he was able to turn on a light bulb pursuing letter. Might listen man. You being watched right these guys they. They're looking to you kind of set the tone and be the difference maker so how you conduct yourself and how you go about Your Business. Somebody's always watching for him to be the guy to tell sue already. Nate Burleson on the team right. There's his other some other guys who are compounds cow Johnson's on the team. But this new guy off the street is communism and say hey you want this to be right if you WANNA start this. Winning culture starts which you so I had so much respect for him That he was able to come and take that approach and I also like the fact that he was willing to say you know. It doesn't matter where you put me on I'm a ball. You know I I just I just WanNa shy once once he got shot and he seemed like he got shot early in his career And I was part because I played I played the last two games our our gear and I started the next season but injury starting to happen and they start to look to the next guy who has the most experienced on a field and it just happened to be him. Am and so as as he's trying to learn NFL. Become the best ball player. He can become. He's now find that he finds himself in a leadership role and he's he's forced to be more dependable and more more put on his plate than so his ability to him. That handle that. Most guys don't want that most guys. Listen Man I don't. I'm not here to talk to this. Scott I'm not here to do this. I'm I'm here to do what I do But he took it on and then he was able to have a long career doing so until he's he's he's locker room got you tell. He's a big locker room guy. He's got you want on your team. Yeah the loser is really cool. So how he talked about how. Brian cushing is really good when he was there and what he did allowed Brian in Kushner. Kind of do what he did and when he left you know things that was really interesting and just kind of hearing the behind the curtain with free agency how he thought. Oh He's going back to the Texans you know everything Kinda was on. That pacey made it known that he wanted to return and they just didn't offer him a deal and so he was just kind of he took the visit with Detroit because his eight and said you. No this is who wants to be with you and I seem to call you and just very loyal dialing in Mississippi state like he wanted together because he just got a letter. Nice right which is wow like understand. How many letters right you can tell? He's a loyal guy And the fact that you know he just took a visit to trick. I WANNA calling rolling. You know when the New Year began was interesting and how he went there and it was like I don't know about the numbers eight and was like yeah well Houston's not going to match so I think you should take into Houston may have leaked that. He had accepted the offer of jeans and just kind of cover and kind of save face for them was You know kind of a dark part of the NFL. Which I'm sure exists? Yeah sure A very interesting interview overall. He's really fun guest. He's a great guy. You said that he's a you you know. It's I think we there's always this kind of running story when running story people always say this when I leave the league. Try to beat them right. I try to beat them in an interview. You have an opportunity to call San Francisco Bay. Hey ronzio Sarah I know everybody noticed system let let let me go ahead and get one but he goes on to walk away from the game I am. I didn't want to let it. I don't WanNa limp limp away from again. I length away from the game. I'm still wandering away from the game But I think it was great that he played ten years he goes. Hey My tom is my time and he kinda put a cap on his journey. Play with the Birkenshaw Ferguson. He did the same thing now. He'll breaks. Hey I could brixton be playing if he wanted to But he wanted to go out his way. And that's a luxury in itself electorates made of the Derrick rose quote like I want to be able to walk my kid's graduation you know. NBA totally different sport but NFL. You know I can respect deliver quincy. I want to be able to play with my kid. Or if they go run around the track on to be able to run with them. Yeah that's thanks so Really really good guy who seems to have his head on straight. Had A great career led the League interceptions. Twenty fourteen really really good player So yeah thanks thanks again for everybody listening rock with another week Surf Inter podcast with very exciting interview next week. Stay tuned for that until next week. We got super bowl champion Willie Cologne. He's Stephen Jay. Thanks next week serpent mm-hmm..

"Do so call came in and basically changed the culture humbly like Mike Humbly change the culture right. I feel like Patricia came in and he came from New England. You know they have. I never and I think instead of him coming in home believe gaining the respect of the players I think he came came in. And kinda had like a negative attitude about Detroit. Right like Kinda. What part of Mosul in the world and I told you thought about it but I kind of felt like from two thousand thirteen two thousand seventeen? The Culture in Detroit Roy had changed right call. Will the coach was different. Like we went to play offs We were right at not seven. You know we had a year what they will tend to six but ninety seven we had one year seventy nine but resigned December. So we was right there. You know playing against you know green in Bay at Air Force Division title. So it wasn't like we were dumpster. Fire a dumpster fire team. Good quarterback you know offensive offensive pieces could defense like on the most we were. We were good and I kind of felt like Patricia came moves like everyday his is trash and I got I got got it like do like a total like rehauled of everything when it was Kinda like. We didn't really need like a rehaul. If anything it would just kind of like Nick Houston. How did you get over that Hump? Because they wanted. They said nine seven wasn't good enough right. which unless you're a top team in the League league like it's hard to win nine Games one game night you can go nine and seven and like get into tournament here you give yourself yourselfer chance of teams that would wish to dig a win nine games so the fact that we were there every year nine seven nine hundred seventy seventy nine and seven and now we started out one in six we start at one and six and far away back and had the frigging married to Aaron Rodgers? Now how we. I probably would have made the playoffs that year because we lost that game and that kind of derail doesn't it went to Saint Louis and we lost to the Rams but if we hail Mary not happened we went one in seven one six and then we made the playoffs at nine seven because Jim called him. Caller but Patricia came kind of felt like he had his patriots at a to like you know note. I'm talking about I've been doing this. I've been doing ed like just leave me distress me and this is my bro- like we didn't feel like system was broken first place. We didn't feel like I system was broken like Jake we were. We were right there like you know what I'm saying so the come in just trying to have like a complete hard. Overhaul like that when he's kind of like Oh. I think it didn't go well so that that hail Mary against Aaron Rodgers. You'd obviously mentioned the Mike Thomas Thomas the garage. I believe it was garth. Mike Todd that you had to Mike Thomas. What are your thoughts in the air? As that's going to believe Richard Rodgers Thursday night as I believe What are your thoughts going through that because you had had that bad experience? What the Hell Mary before? So are you thinking okay. Just get in front but knock it down. Are you trying to battle over your Tetra. Rogers actually wanted to call a timeout. Because for the play because we have like we had like a Hail Mary Defense Right and we had situation where we will put Kevin Johnson in a game to be like the jumper. Yeah right A lot of teams do that. I think New England tried to as you caskey's didn't work for them and that was one of the reasons why they said at the time that they didn't want to put cabinet because they didn't let you know we didn't know they were. They were kind of fall. Who knows they're gonNA try and do a Hail Mary Business? Whatever so we were actually not even even in like a hammer defense And then all of a sudden the playtime Mary well as a clay turns to him. Mary's receivers for Green Bay or just write freely down the field. Because we're not in a different so these guys are just running down and like I'm not the only only got back here so I'm saying the ball but there's nobody own like these guys so guys are trying to run from the sidelines. WHO's kind of like in like silence? Defensive said the defense so they just run in but like those guys are running down the field right so I'm saying the ball and as yes. I'm getting ready to go up and dump. It was like a wall of people in front of me like Outta receivers all came in and like I couldn't even get into the ball richer. Roger Crystal Ball up there and I I'm way back here and it was just like wasn't anything I could do. Like him. Embedded down again. Yeah that would have been would have been crazy. But it's crazy to hail marys like Bro. Right Successful.

"And turf podcasts. We've got a former pro bowler glover quin of the Detroit Lions and Houston. Texans welcome. How how you doing today? Good man good man. How you good? We're excited to have you. I'm feeling fat because I to most of the Thanksgiving before you came on. I'm telling you about who I was down in Jackson Man. One thing about people in the south they don't cook they lay out. Yeah there's a spread bro. We had three tables worth of food. I've never seen nothing nothing like that. Yeah and yeah I do Thanksgiving early. It was ready by twelve. I'm use it at five o'clock start time because that's how you two or three times but that's come back. Take a little nap in order. You come back eating again like four thirty four almost died out literally hid in the house. I couldn't eat no more so yeah so to preface. This is from Mississippi and Willie's wife Mississippi so he was just down there for the holiday. But you actually started Korea. You went to the Southwest Mississippi Community College before transferring to New Mexico After that year in Community College where there other offers was New Mexico. Kind of the one. What made you choose that part of the country? I've said big change. They're coming out of high school. I was I wanted to go to Mississippi state. Mississippi state was the first school that like sent me a letter for me. The first school to send me a letter. I was like alright. Show that seemed like they must be interesting. I didn't know everybody letters. You know that was the first letter guy so I wanted to go to Mississippi state and they recruit me hard and The The York was the year that Jackie shirl retired or left or whatever in your and semester chrome came in so croom staff didn't recruit me so the coach coach show recruit me hard at a missive. Stay was coach Steve Campbell. Thank you head. Coach like Somewhere but I couldn't tell you But but you know he was big on news. I hate wherever I go. Take you with me. But he ended up going to Gulf Coast Community College and so in Mississippi back. When I was in Juku you had a day like were? Were you protected so community colleges. So it's basically like your high. School was zoned to a counter. And if you are good player that community college could the protect you and you couldn't go play it any other Juku in the state of Mississippi you can go out of state somewhere So obviously I got protected by Modu Zuko. So I couldn't go because Campbell to Gulf coast and so then Mississippi stay when recruit me anymore. I couldn't go of course Campbell so it was like all right. Well I'M NOT GONNA settle settler golden like You Know D. to school out like that already. Go to and take my chances. I want to Do Co. and New Mexico came and you know I went out in Mexico. I had no clue award was but it was a d one school and I took a visit there and it was dope Bro. Yeah brighter do it was like the city was dope. School was dope like it was big time roll like for me I was like wow this is this is kinda cool man so But I I kinda played hard on my recruiting trip. I ah play hard in Alabama and Georgia. Just kind of I kind of knew I wanted to sign but I didn't WanNa like you know you play hard to get gas so when they call me up like you know just offered me the scholarship. Yeah I was like you know what I I gotTa talk it over with my parents. 'cause all Mexican flying back home writes. I'm driving back home and I'll pass coach every todd. The coach recruit me pass him up on my way home in a Mississippi so he has got on the flight on a different flight. beat me to the airport. Got His vehicle and was headed to McCone McCone to talk to my parents and I passed him on the highway. Going home here. So he comes down. He talked to my dad and in in all that good stuff and So I waited a little bit longer than you know probably about two weeks before signing they I kind of call them and tell them I was villa. I was going to commit. Sounds cool great career New Mexico team. MVP your senior year the draft so two thousand nine hundred twelve thick Willie also fourth round two thousand Blue Colorado. The question yeah the League's Mehta MHM where did you kind of expect to get drafted. Were you happy with your positioning. Because you were kind of a coroner slash safety coming down A lot of people all felt that your best position was safety. Where did you feel that you fit in and where we are expecting a draft so you know coming out? I was coming from Mississippi. Man I mean I mean I was just happy to be on the draft boers honestly because I didn't really most people's mindset. Yeah I didn't really start getting on Draft Board after my junior year and you know going because is my first year New Mexico. I end up What did I do my first year in? I didn't really have like a great season. Fresh air now has made some big he plays but it wasn't anything spectacular. We'll try to get acclimated and then like my second year and New Mexico. I ended up term growing like the second game of the season so I missed a couple of weeks I came back I was in and out and then like the last game of the season I finished off two picks in one game right and so I had some some decent momentum going into the off season and Dan we had like a junior day and stuff like that and I kinda showed up. You know we had another corner that was that was rated higher than me and like I took that as opportunity to compete. 'cause I knew people come you watch him. Yeah so should I gotta see me too and so I went to that off season and I competed at a high level. And that's KINDA WANNA start getting on draft boards and I came back my senior year. I lead among Western pigs. Five pigs may first team all conference And after that it was just kind of like okay three and then I got invited to like the East West Game. Yeah played in that but I wouldn't say that was a corner but I wouldn't play in East West game as a safety I said I was. I was kind of a twin coming up So I go east West game of the safety and a ball. I didn't catch a pig thing. Good open-field Tigers. You know kind of what you just trying on a show in the in the All Star game as a safety if you can't tackle then you can't play humiliation You know had a chance to do that. I got invited to the combine. So you know for me like I said come from Mississippi all this stuff was just like I was just excited like man. I'm at the East West Gay Man I'm GonNa come by. You know I was Kinda like I. I won't say starstruck but I was kind of like looking at all the players that I have been like Scotland myself located top corners. No 'cause that was coming out you have Malcolm Jenkins rate. As the top Corner Davis was up there involuntary was actually my roommate at the comeback. And so I was had been up close and personal with like this guy that they got rated as a top Corner Manal. So I'm just like okay. Okay so you showed yeah definitely had to show you know what I'm saying because I felt like you know as I'm watching these Games on TV. You know what I'm saying 'cause I would watch throughout the season. I say like Darius Butler was up there so when I see in Yukon you know watch out because I wanted to see what are these guys. Look like And I just felt like you know I could play with these guys too. You know going through training for the combined with Guys Ryan Mouton was out there. He was he was. He was a third round draft. Pick just some other guys that I was like okay. Yeah well I feel like I can do to you know And that's always the light bulb for a Lotta ballplayers when you get around all the guys who conceded you know for me when I 'cause I when I remember me training for the didn't go to calm but I was trying to from our pro day and you train guys. You do have a name right or who the media thinks is the next darling and I remember saying to myself l.. Especially when I when I made training when I enter trying to say about the what they ask questions and I was and I wasn't hungry from cocky standpoint. I was only like if that's the best actor because I should've dealt with. Yes but because because I went to Aa and I know you You into Jakoda and obviously the New Mexico There's so much talent in the lower level or from the you know this is not sec. Oh Pac ten or big ten. Football doesn't exist. That's bullshit. Ah some damn this damn football players who just happened to be playing for. Utah's who happened to be playing from New Mexico or whatever so well my always tell people that was crazy my my senior your New Mexico. TCU still in my west. Andy Dalton was there author Utah was in amount with. That's the today smacked Alabama in the sugar bowl while the law Byu was in my West Like the mountain west was it was. It was a decent conference. You know so played against some some really really good ball players and so it was cool. Man went through the winter. The process go to combined. Go to my pro day Only had like one prior workout. You know with the Patriots. Yeah it was cool. Patriots up was cool Just going through the process with the draft not seeing everything from like Phil Rounder six rounder. Second Rounder you know saw the negative his twitter. He's not a great corner what he's kind of this safety you know and I think the thing for me is you know sticking to like who I was and I knew for me. I was never recover corn. I never I never thought I was a cover Always prided myself on being physical and being smart. You know when you're not the most gifted athlete elite. You have to rely on your technique and you had to lower your brain and I use both of those things to to propel my career and so I I told my dad I I was like mom get drafted even if I get drafted I just want opportunity to get in the door because I knew if I can get in the door I was gonna work and beat anybody. That's you know that's all I wanted wanted was shot and this I felt with Mississippi state coming out. I just wanted to shop like you know because I come from a small super small town in mccomb Mississippi so life for me like you know out of stuff is so far away no I get so far away so just ahead it opportunity. I was just like you know what I just want to get in the door. 'CAUSE IF I get a door is going to be able to do. Did you think Houston Houston was going to be the team all along or were you thinking New England or is it just like you had no expectations. I really had no expectation. You saw a lot of stuff like Chicago. Tampa ramp allowed to cover two teams. That was kind of project as a cover to corner fifth. I'm not a man type corner.

"We wanted to go over. Man is your friend my friend too. I mean is he your friend. Yeah I mean we. We took a picture together golf event this year. We're pretty much boys Michael Vick so he has been named honorary proble. Captain and there is a petition circulating. That apparently has over four hundred thousand signatures. Let me repeat that four hundred thousand signatures. That's over one percent of America. The math is that I'm gonNA go with horrible. Maybe I'm pretty sure you're checking out your figured out. I don't know four hundred faouzi signatures which is a staggering number willy. How do you feel about this? It's just hard and then I think for me when I look at what what Mike has been able to endure First of all Mike. Mike is Eitan as far as the world world of athletics. I mean he's I when I pulled into your celebrity golf thing this past year. He was the first person on the parking lot. And I was just like Holy Shit because when I when I was in high he was the biggest athlete in the world. The world the world So to see him just walking around like an oral personnel. Oh My god Michael Graphic. This man has not only so Michael Vick was locked up for Dogfight served twenty one months in jail. Sentence was twenty twenty three So he did the portion of it came out of jail and right away sign. Join hands with the humane Agnes's at Spoke openly about his mistake. Mistakes spoke openly about dogfighting culture. He was Kinda around and how he Dealt with that spoke against it and has continued to speak against dog-fighting and making bad decision. Really has been a role model to so many kids who need a second chance. And what and once you get a second chance. That's the most valuable thing you can have. Because you don't get a third chance is is trouble in that in two thousand nineteen going on. We're still talking about Michael Vick and fire. That's what's baffling to. I mean I just WanNa WanNa know where these four hundred thousand people were when he played the NFL again for many teens Got A job on Fox national team. We're talking about the pro bowl like well. Let me make it. But I got two stories before before Mike Join The jets when we picked him up. We were doing draft party at the Ainsworth. I was there in a couple of the jets. He had just arrived in New York. He he walks in. I'm in the back Doing something on TV And in one of the owners who I knew of Ainsworth might just walked in. Okay I just knew. He picked him up. Talk over my. Hey Mike my name's willie that chop it up is that came in. You know I'm just here because I know well. The jets draft day. He walks back shakes a couple of hands. He's walking back out the door. Some do jumped in his face and was was like. Hey You you fucking dog killer Da da jumps in my face and Mike man like push the kind of user back up man like I'm you know say what you want but actually called Mike the Inward to security jumps in the it was a fight to Ha- actually the APP an outside well. Mike wasn't involved in the security of the place end up getting involved and Mike was again of Ravin. Mike and I'm saying my WANNA get out of here and he was already leaving anyway. But this man had only been here for twenty four hours to deal with that and then the next and then he was on team that week and they were trying to. Peter was outside the stadium already protesting For him being on the team and so he this this follows so he's still. He's always going to be persecuted for this. At some point we have to check ourselves human beings like at. What point do we say you know? What enough is enough when we? When did we start rallying for him? there's a lot of people who have taken the twitter and even take an instagram called on my show and kind of had some pushback for the lady but I don't. I'm not knocking barb for her for her her stance dance. I'm not gonNA her for not having the will or the mindset to forget and I think that's a horrible place we all need we all we all need to give. Yeah I mean I John You know soapbox here but trust the justice system like he went to jail he did his time. Yeah from Shawshank. He's been quote unquote rehabilitated. And it's like what are you GonNa do you. Can't you know. End His life for something that he did when he was like a young man like. I'm sure we had all had a lot of mistakes that I wouldn't want to be attached to me for life. That happened when I was whatever ten years old. And I've I've spoken to me about it and then you have somebody. That kind of has a stormy or dark pass I put that in quotation marks That's not something you bring up. I didn't bring it up. He brought it up to me and we kinda just chopped it up and we had a man talk and he was very open and honest about he he and knowledge it was a mistake but he also acknowledged that you know that was a culture. He was just around and he kinda you know he adopted it And there was a lot of things and if you read the the whole story you know a lot of it was his friend seven downriver. He didn't even own a house. He owned a house but he didn't live in a house. So it is a lot of things that go go with that But I even tell you what was suitable In Houston He's there he's having a big party. We meet up where onstage a bunch of the people you know kind of. have this big Slam Burri. If you wanted to get time relatable some old man comes to the state because we're on top of the states Komo man comes to the state and he's waving so I'm looking and I'm Kinda like I'm thinking he's talking to me he's so he looks at me. He's the main Komo here. Somebody with this old man old. Uh humane what's up. He's he tell Mike Such and such as I've got the guy's name so I'm like all right. I'm paying attention. I go back to a mile While I was sitting with bottles of course and a guy ways me over am I might notice dude. He said he knows you might turns around. Looks it was. The Dude and Mike was imprisoned with his cellmate. Oh Jeez we had a super bowl party. Houston this old dude who might might serve time. Leavenworth awesome might goes goes gets to guy brings him on stage and he treated his dude but gold. I'M GONNA talking about food bottles. I mean anything is dude unwanted. Mike showed him so much level respect. And it's number athletes on a stage. I mean is is ballplayers everywhere ballplayers women but it looks like a fucking rap video and Mike in his do talk for about an hour and he might only pay them. Attention showed him love took pictures with them in a Miami leaving whatever but thinking about that for a second you out of jail you got your fame back. You're starting back the man everybody loves money Vick and you take time with add a super bowl party to show your cellmate. He can easily. I said I don't know that dude turns back and I would never question it but he showed that dude so much love and admiration. He's the only guy stood by me and believe me when I was in I was in myself and that spoke volumes to write. You know and most guys don't even talk to guys. They went to school with in high school. They turned back from those guys this guy was an entrenched with Mike and he remembered him and so for me. Mike Vick is now always defend and my brief time talking with them at your venues very nice guy. Very Earth came over and approached urged US And just started talking and be like how do you guys know Willie etc so Really Nice student. I feel like it's pretty ridiculous. There's a petitional four hundred thousand singers. I mean we got serious issues and Becky's paying the kids in the US so you've got to focus on that all right. So let's get to our interview with with former Pro Bowler Glover Quin of the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions very fun interview very insightful. As far as the free agent process and how Oh that all kind of works really get so. Let's get right into it and so here. We are glover surf.

"And and people say that. But what better way to do that then to model it you know so my kids my my son. Bryant the coaches sons. My two daughters. They're here with me every Sunday. They're six so therefore they're maniacs but they're in the office and you know what if I don't put my kids I then I can never tell my players and it's important to be a father and if my players hear me like you know jokes about my wife and then they don't really know what a loving relationship looks like when they see me. My wife walk into building. They see the way I treat her when they you see the way I love it when they come to our house and my wife cooks for them and and they then then we're truly modeling What it means to have a family? What a blessing? That isn't so we do that. And at the same time I told the players if my son's Outta line like he doesn't get the cut ahead and four-night like he he's also got one hundred fourteen older brothers that are on the ropes and and making sure he stays in line. So it's it's a good win in every single essentially learn okay. You mentioned that your friends were texting saying they're upset the you're a number seven. Let's talk about the top seven. Kevin Real quick. Ohio state has three heisman candidates. LSU has a revamped offense where everybody's talk about. Joe Borough who I think is the most. NFL ready quarterback right now out of everybody in this glass is Clemson obviously has trebled Lawrence and a bunch of superstars. Jer Georgia has what people are saying the best offensive line jake from they have a bunch of studs. been there done that with National Championship. Utah I don't know anybody about Oklahoma. jalen hurts Lincoln Riley says this is the most innovative coach in the history of college football. They've had heisman wondering after heisman winner. Now jalen hurts is in the same conversation. You're Baylor team is a a bunch of unknowns nationally. Charlie burs Denzel Meneses superstar. You have leading in Saxony defensive side of the ball but your team. I think they really rely on being a family and being tight. Hi what is it about this thing. That makes them so good when there isn't like the national superstar on the team carrying it because we're just a complete team and we're just we're we're just a bunch of hungry greedy tough dudes that love to play the game and and you know we sometimes taking heat for winning close games and like I'm not really a participation trophy kind have a guy like either you wonder you loss right like like like. Sometimes it's like well. They lost to them and these guys beat them but since they lost to a really good team and like there's no participation trophy for me for losing like like we've gone out eleven times when we won the game eleven times and we lost Oklahoma. And you don't hear me making excuses about that. They beat us. But we're free points away from being undefeated or four points for being undefeated and our one loss to the number of sixteen in the country. So I'm proud of our guys but you know what you mentioned a lot of guys there and you know it's interesting. I mean the the greatest respect of those sixteen above us. Three of those teams are playing with quarterbacks. They didn't recruit the transferred in there because of the brand and the opportunity to go there and play. We're just a bunch of homegrown on you know guys like we're we're a team that you know. There's not a ton of a ton of big name players in terms of recruiting in terms of nationally. But we got a bunch of future pros and we got a bunch of future. NFL players and They like to play together. We like to play defense. We liked to play special teams and they complement each other. Well and so I. I hope that we go out and play a really good game on Saturday. Not even for the way I want people to see. Just how complete of a team you know we have at Bela. Okay and before I let you go. I know you're very busy and I appreciate your time. I'm Phil Snow. Defensive Coordinator was just nominated as a finalist for the broilers award. Tell me about him in your relationship with him and how he's going to be able to stop this incredibly creative Lincoln Riley offense fills one of the best of the best and You know he's been my defensive coordinator since I became a head coach He did it at Temple. He came to Baylor Taylor and not to be to be up to the royals awarded. You know be one of the five finalists. Has a defensive coach in the big twelve is is an accomplishment. Unlike any other and you you know I was coach knows g eight. Ucla in two thousand and one when he was the defensive coordinator there and by the way we lead the pack. Twelve pack ten at the time and all in all the different defensive categories. And you know he used to scream at me like rules. That coffee pot broke and I had to go make a fresh pot of coffee and bring it to him and I told him I took the job. I said I'm not bringing your coffee anymore now. I'm jarred now but he he. He's a great coach. And he's he's the guy to me. That's reinvented themselves. You know he was defensive coordinator at Arizona State when they played Ohio state from National Championship. He was even Corey Defense Coordinator. UCLA led the pack with the PAC twelve conference. All those categories went to went to eastern Michigan went into the. NFL came to temple. We had a top twenty five defense and now coming to the big twelve in two years of US kind of struggling has put together one of the best events in the country. And so I don't think you can stop Lincoln Riley. I don't think you can stop. jalen hurts and CD lamb but we can certainly go out there and try to limit what they do and I think even the in the first game you you know we limited the big plays we got some turnovers and in the end. If our offense played better in the second half and just gets a couple first downs we win the game and so their defense they played ninety six plays and got a little tired at the end. But it's a great matchup. I have so much respect for coach Riley and much respect for coach. No I think it'll be great battle in an in an interesting subplot in the game. I I can't wait to see it. Has Anybody done any bras belly flops. Over there since I went into that river now But that is going to be part of our off season conditioning regular Hewitt team commitment week where you have to kind of all these different things and it's a competition and show so I love to have you back for that but number two that that is going to be part of the the Get Bonus points if you get a little deeper into the river. That thing was only four couple of Deepak. Let's die coach. I can't thank you enough for your time and your hospitality analogy good luck this weekend. I'm pulling hard for six years. I think college football coach of the year. My Eyes is Baylor bears head coach Metro Las Mam that you came in Houston plan against Peyton manning and all those years even though we want a couple of times but ice I plan against Peyton in a in a good bad way I was. I was young so I was learning. Lean but it was difficult but it was fun it was it was a chess match with him right. Because he he's literally looking at you in the MIC. That is who he is reading everything off of so it's like a chess must see se. Well when I was young plant pay and I was playing corner and nickel right right. Okay so when I moved into the nickel I kid you not pay emancipate us look at me every single play like he was looking at me to figure Gorell what we were in like. I literally got better plan against Peyton manning because he used to stare at me the entire time. I used to always try difficult. Like why does he keep looking. You'll be looking at me. I learned I was the young guy so I was the guy that he could probably like. Tail okay. He's in quarters this time. He's in covered to now. He's the man can now. He's blitzing like he's looking at me all the time and he will put Josefa die right there gramma face and he will play action me and through like I got so much better planning is payment and so he was probably one of my favorites to put. I Love Joseph Dot by the way. I don't know if you've ever met him. One of the cost of a history Bryant a square off a little bit but that guy is a man Peyton USA. And I'll tell you this now why they're looking at. You is a back the backup quarterback for peyton manning. Offense had homework assignments all week. They had a notebook that they had to return to Peyton. That would tell them like okay if this guy does this. They're in this. And you being a rookie or young guy. You're the tell I would assume that that happened. And if you've ever watched Peyton I used to enjoy this. Because I I learned about this because Curtis painter painter was my roommate and training camp by rookie or so I got a chance to overhear conversations that I probably shouldn't have heard but I was in there listening to it and then every single game you watch the first series whenever you see him scour the field and he looks at somebody. It's like. Oh that's the guy ridden at that is that it's a read today and it's incredible. How much you could pick up just from one little detail in for you? I assume that you had to be like okay. I'm going to get a little bit better at disguising. I gotta get a bit tighter and it probably helped you out mentally zoo. Oh Yeah it definitely helped me off net aspect aspect but I I took the same approach so like what. I started doing it when I will watch jam is. I'M NOT GONNA try to pick up on his whole entire scheme. MMA find one person person Deca tell me run a pass and I'm a file one thing that I can figure out okay. This is how he liked. Run this this is his favorite route and this is how he runs it so when I see it I know it's coming and so I will find one that would tell me run pass and I would just watch it and I would know okay. Boom listed this is wrong. This is past and I will find that one person that I was going against and I will try to find this. They'll one that one played at one route. That I knew was was his favorite and I knew he liked to run it and went out when I saw it. I will go and a lot of times. It worked out. Sometimes they did but it was just like that was. That was my film study. Isn't it insane to think that there's billions of dollars spent in the NFL and it all comes down to a guy maybe offseting his support by three inches. And you're like all right. Well it's a run around the NFL coach of the year candidates for this year. I think just five noted names. That should be talked about five six and honestly this is a tough tough decision to be made. Obviously my favorite for the entire thing is horrible..

NFL Peyton manning Lincoln Riley Peyton jalen Baylor Bryant Ohio Ucla football National Championship LSU heisman Oklahoma Phil Snow US Peyton USA. Utah

I mean they they try to get it. Factually correct I just did another one and on just signing a deal with a big production company to do it television series and right now the the working getting title is gas wars. And what it's going to be is is like I said earlier. Pat You know. The golden years of that life were from the fifties to the to the eighties. And we're going to do it under under the umbrella of the gas business because so many you know so. Many families touched by it at that time. And I'm real excited. They put on a great writer. And I think it's going to be a great series Asian. You probably see it in about a year but we're working on it now so bill but those discovery channel history channel. They do a pretty good job in getting Eddie you get right. At least my experience would image in that way. If you need an Irish guy that's got point zero one percent Italian I was GONNA ask. What is you're so everyone has the nickname? What is your favorite nickname that you came across of of your entire time in the Mafia? Oh Gosh there's so many you know we weren't very originally. He's about five foot six. who was kind of on? The heavy side smoked a cigar. Ah War Fedora. Right right out of central casting really talk really growth. You've seen them in. The move is portrayed pretty. Well I'll tell you story. He called me one day. WHO's the boss to degen abuse obese family? He had a Social Club in Harlem so he sent for me. I was a captain with the Columbus more sense for you. Go right so I'll put it on record with my boss and I go see Tony Me and his club and and he is sitting out in front he says to me I gotta ask you question is what Tony he said. What are you doing with this gasping? They say he's doing pretty good. Yeah Tony I'm doing good. He should make money. I said you had Tony in Oakland Place. I'm doing good. He's got a favorite ask. You say a boss anything you want. What can I do for you? You said Yeah I got these five Mamelukes around me five cents old deadbeat. She's I gotTA support an on Titus CNN. He said you favor you give them a job. I said Yeah Yeah Tony I hope you will do. I said well look. I got a bunch of guests nations about. I put him in charge of a gas station operated for me and I swear Tony Let them rob so you know how these guys aren't you rob you put off the hands on right now. You don't have to just make sure they know Robbie so assist me. That sounds good. He said how much they make how much you're gonNA pay so now thinking about it right Pat. I don't want to insult the boss. You know I said let me think about it said Tony. Tony how proud I give him fifteen hundred a week in cash each week she will that work. You looks to me. And he says fifteen hundred give them five hundred thousand. Yeah Hey tony go to boss one and that's how we tell you about you. Make a lot of friends when you're making that kind of money a and it was amazing. You know that's it helped me out a lot. Then I had a jet clean guys need to go someplace. I would fly them around that a helicopter. I drove the feds edge. Crazy while Guiliani right. I used to live out long island so I would get my helicopter and broad city. It would take me eighteen minutes to get in right. So I'm in trial in Manhattan and when we're ready to leave the FBI as coming from walnut shade guys. You got a three and a half hour jumping helicopter. It is not that expensive. I won't charge you get mad if we can't do that. What was your name money? Might now I hated my first of all. Nobody gave me a nickname on streep the media started. Call Me Yuppie Don and I hate it. I hate that Yuppie UPI Kinda thing right and it's like California style you know whatever but it stuck so guys started calling me up yesterday. You don't say that in trouble anyway. The only nickname ahead. You gotTA thing. I can't thank you enough for joining us. Michael Francis Dot Com. What's on their your appearances and how people can book? Yeah I get all of that and you know I just I did A. I do a lot of podcasts and all I want Mike Tyson the other day that was classic. I gotTa tell you and it just dropped yesterday and it's we get a lot of attention but I you know I'm on instagram. And and what do you call facebook and twitter all that stuff you know you gotta beyond that when you do what I do but Yeah yeah people can tune in and Mike had a great interview with Mike and I got. He's eastern you know. He's so brutally honest. It's unbelievable and he's really. He's turned his life around in a big way. You know and I really enjoyed the interview. I it was wild. Don't get me wrong region online but we had a good time did you. Did you guys ever get involved in boxing. I feel the judges always have a chance to be persuaded big time into boxing. My sport that we really involved in we own fighters you know. I don't want to mention names now but we had a lot of influence in that sport. Yes fights fixed guys. Do take a dive at times. It was it was a sport especially in the forties and fifties. I was heavily manipulated us that much. I can tell you do you kind of all right so with all the things that you know like. It's almost like learning that Santa Claus is like your life. Now you like. If you see something happen you start thinking yourself like maybe one hundred and three year old dad it is cooking up some shit here. You have that thought. Yeah I'm always grown up to a day and and being involved I'm always cynical. You know I have a cynical eye on everything I I try to get people. That benefited doubt. But then that all mob stuff mentality slots decree banned. I should say right. Everybody's got to make a living pet in August. Do in one way or the other and you were awesome. I can't thank you enough. When I got outside started talking about it I mean I'm amazed at the fascination of his life all over the world? I mean do you know that the biggest movie ever in China was the Godfather number one movie in China. I didn't know that and I went to. Singapore spoke at a big event in. Singapore was ticketed event. When we opened it up we had eighteen hundred people then we opened it up for questions? I was amazed amazed that I was there for two and a half hours answering questions about the the life about gaudy about all the movies. The Paul Castellano murder and you know they asked me in Singapore. If I knew Jimmy Hoffa was do you do you. Well you know I mean I look I can tell you this That that movie was fabricated. "Now everything's gone. Everything is being watchers cameras everywhere. Not Not that you're still connected at all. I'm not saying that. I assume that you get whispers. Though of what they're what what is the mafia do. Now what are they have their hands anything. Well let me tell you this. I don't know if you know this but my dad was released from prison. He did forty years on that fifty cents it. We sent out five times on parole violations but he was released in two thousand seventeen at the age of one hundred. WHO's the the oldest inmate in the in the country? At the time of his release my dad will be one hundred and three in February holy. Shit yeah and so you know. He's he's got his ear to the wall song. I'm still in touch with my dad. And I I kinda know what's going on and and you know so I mean that's how I stay in touch but You know the very low key right now you know. They're not doing things I mean. They're doing a typical gambling stuff in the numbers business and you know they'll they got some in union involvement again to kind of getting it back after Giuliani took a lot of way or lead that charge so very quietly. I'll tell you what's happening. When I was in that life? We had five families. We had seven hundred fifty. Made guys guys that actually took the oath that comprise little five families had a bunch of associates with those seven hundred and fifty you guys at that time the Fbi New York had a twelve hundred some odd agents assigned to oh five families so they had a lot of agents around a lot of a law enforcement today. Okay Saint Five families. There's less than a hundred agents that are monitoring five families because why now they're into terrorism Jim and cyber crime and all that kind of stuff. So what's happening. Now I believe is that the mob is building up against slowly quietly. You know they kind of went. You know underground a little bit. You don't hear about a mismatch you don't read about it as much trust me. They're still there. These guys are very resourceful. You Italians but that's awesome. Hugh Italians alliens are always gonNA find a way we have. We have to mass. By the way I took a twenty three and meet tests. I always thought it was an Irish Fella point one percent Italian galleon no big deal. No big deal. I feel pretty good about it. I'm a better chef. All the sudden sounds good. Is that on your father's side or your mother. I don't know who did it. Somebody way back took a little trip to the boot in order to be docked in a family father has to be Italian. So he's that good of another December dad mostly Italian okay. And that's all you can only become a made man right. You can be an associate but your your father has to be Italian. That's correct About that This francey mentioned you spent some time in prison were were you treated any differently. Were they influence at all both the prisoners and the guards by who you are. Well I I got a ten year prison sentence. I spent eight years in prison and I did actually almost three years in solitary. That kept me but well you know I was is in the federal system and you know I I gotta be honest. I had a lot of celebrity when I walked in. Everybody knew who I was. I had a lot of publicity so you know among the the inmate you become a big guy because a couple of reasons number one guys are trying to get close to you. They figure when they get out maybe become friends. You know you make some money together together. So they're always kind of trying to get close to you in that regard and the guards it could go either way. You can get some of them you know that just say hey you know this is my prison. Listen you're not running anything and they can have that attitude with you. They resent you immediately. And then some that are really cool. I mean I had some God's Humvee that did me a lot I'll tell you it's up this funny. I thought around Terminal Island Right. It was pretty good prison. If you gotTa do prison pretty good was it. San Pedro was right on the water. It was really great every Saturday Pat. You'll laugh every Saturday. These young women used to come by in their boats right and we used to be in a prison yard. They used to drive drive by in their boats and pull their their bathing suit top down and thrill all the guys and you saw a wave of guys running to the fence you would have thought almost going to try to climb on but anyway I had one guard that I was pretty close with and he was in the commissary so he comes to me. Do me a lot of favors in there and he said Mike. I'm in trouble. I'm going to get fired. I should why what happened. He's counting is all off this month in real trouble I said what will you still in money said. Nah You know I just messed up. I see why can't lose you. You're a good guy here. I gotTA keep you around. I said let me think about this so I said okay. Here's what you're going to do when you but you got it do this on a on a night when we have no visiting 'cause I don't WanNa lose my visiting GONNA lock us down. He said okay so it was a Monday night. was visiting Tuesday Wednesday right. I should Monday night when you leave. Leave the door unlocked. I saw. I'M GONNA get one of the inmates with a sledgehammer. They're gonNA make like they broke the door open. WE'RE GONNA go in there and they're gonNA steal everything commissary. I should this way next day. You come in you blame it on the inmates. You're clear they'll lock goes down for two days and then it's all so that's the study so the two inmates I got it. Listen don't bring any stuff to myself. I go and get all your sneakers everything you want but don't bring anything to myself because I don't WanNa get going to hold over this. They locked down for two days and then it was cool. He kept his job. And that was great..

"You know it's just it's natural stuff like that and of course if you're an athlete you think you you know you know the outcome a little bit better than somebody else l.. Sometimes but you know I think the more access says you have the easier it is for somebody to get hooked on gambling and the problem is it's you know it's a silent addiction at you. Know it's kind of sneaks up on on you every guy that I knew that ever had a gambling problem told me they can kick the problem whatever they want and they never could and every single one out across the board they all believe. It's not a big deal. I can stop whenever I want to. I it's not easy trust me. I'm very intriguing. Time in sports with legalization realisation of sports gambling. Because for a long time it was something that was obviously done behind the shadows and illegally and things like that now that it's becoming legal but it's not I mean it's just going to be a very interesting time for sports to handle the situation. I how do you think the leak should handle it. Well you know it's very difficult. I mean I've been to this year. I've been to a lot more schools because his supreme court decision you know talking to a lot more guys And I got. I got a pretty good calendar next year with schools. And I and I keep doing this because I feel feel like you know the guys pay attention and if you can help wanted to guys from getting themselves in trouble it's big because you know one guy can take program down you know that yeah so You know you know the league just us. It's more education than anything else. I mean education and then unfortunately enforcement of somebody does go down. The wrong road wrote but education is important. These people have to young people have to understand that gambling could be addictive and before you know it you can be in over your head and this you guys are on the street. Doesn't have to be a mom guy. You know gamblers themselves. I mean these desperate people any way they can look to get an edge in any kind of sporting events they'll do oh and they have to be mindful of that so they got to watch no the people that they're around and they gotta understand that you know through education. If this could be a real problem from that you've been what I stress you've been removed from the mafia you turn your life around. You've really become this outstanding citizen what you could check out. Michael Francis Dot Com and also wise guys wisdom dot Com which is a new coaching site. That's coming out you become this. Incredible citizen right is the mafia still around. And do you ever have any fear with how you've come out and told stories about it. I've seen enough movies where it seems like if anybody talks about it. They ended up as a dead man. You have gone until these incredible stories. He's about your life. Does the Mafia still exist as much as it did back in the day or at all in our you ever fearful of your life. Well let's put it this way. It absolutely does exist. There's still five families in New York. There's still a big presence in Chicago. Kansas City places like that But it's not what it was at one time it's different you you know. It's not going to go away in my lifetime. That's for sure but you know pat would happen with me. You know. I'm going to be honest with you. You know number one. I never put anybody in prison. I didn't cooperate with the government in that regard. I've played a game with the government where I made them think was cooperating but at the end of the day I didn't cooperate. You know it's just my way of doing things And I got in trouble for and they put me back in prison as a result when they realized what I was doing. But how'd you do that. Well you know it's just making them. Thank you talk to them. Make them think I was going along but when they wanted me to testify refused and it was a whole big. You know so I mean and I never heard anybody in that regard and you know the thing that happened pat everybody that Iran with everybody is either dead or in prison for the rest of their lives. The Fortune magazine had a big article back in eighty. Six is the fifty biggest and most powerful mob bosses in the country and they featured six guys. I was one of the six. It was a huge articles like half the magazine but they actually had a chart with the fifty of us on their according to rank and wealth and power it had me down his number eighteen. I was the youngest guy in a list. I was five behind Godley at the time my God he hadn't been made boss yet. But that's not important. It's a silly list. Them always say how did they make. They didn't ask for our tax returns touted but it's sold a lot of magazines. But here's the thing that's that's fascinating and that you know keeps me aware of how fortunate fortunate out blessed I am out of the list of fifty thirty three years later forty nine debt cheese forty nine a day and I'm the only one that survived so when you look at that you see a man. How did that happen well? Obviously I'm a person of faith so I believe God had a different purpose for me but aside aside from that you know when I left at life one of the Harz of that life pat and unfortunately witness this through my time you can make a mistake your best friend picks you up to a room. You don't walk out again that's it you know you're gone and and when I left the life I said okay. They're going to have to work to get me out. Walk me in the wrong so I moved to California three thousand miles away. I change my whole lifestyle would only mean by that I walk my dog every morning at seven seven. Am I don't create patterns in my life. I didn't go to the same restaurant every Tuesday night so somebody was sculpted me out. They know Aram. I stayed out of clubs clubs used to be my life. I was six nights a week and a club. That's that's how I live but bed place for me because you know I know who he hangs out near. Somebody recognizes me. They make a call to New York. They want to be a hero. I walk out in the parking lot. Boom gone so I mean I did all of that. I was very disciplined in that way and then over period of time I use outlasted. Everybody I ah I mean that's the bottom line and you know they don't have an ax to grind with me right now. I can't go back to Brooklyn. So Hey guys moving back into the neighborhood. Yeah I believe in God got this until you to be stupid I you know I mean I just very fortunate very verbal Argonne very fortunate. I don't know how other way to put it because honestly pet I don't know of anybody. Debt reached the level that I reached publicly walked away from that life and live to tell about it. I really don't yeah. That's why whenever you were talking to us at West Virginia. I think the first thing I said was this guy's this because Donald is he still alive in here. We are years later. You're still thriving still doing great things in the community and I wanNa let you know from all of us over. They were happy. I told you this is going to be any conversation. We're just getting started to a lot.

"The movie was good I can source. Cast make beds Phil what I will tell you this. I was really surprised with Pepsi's performance because I knew rust buffalo very well. WHO's very close with our family? I knew him well and you know he did a good job because Russell that kind of low key kind of guy. He wasn't as powerful as they would trade him to be in the movie but You know it was a good job in Fat Tony Salerno. I don't know the Boston to genevieve's family US pretty close with Tony. We had a couple of you know good Relationships I would say in business and I thought that Dominic laid him very well to its job. WHO's again fabrication? Remember that that's heartbreaking. I've literally been. I said this morning on my radio show that it felt like I was taking a walk walk through American history class and I was all bullshit adds a little bit upsetting to me but who was the most powerful person at one particular time like in the history of the mob. Do you think well during my era really the most powerful guy was You probably know Vincent You anti-death holding the Chin. He was the real boss of the genovise. Family Tony. Salerno was kind of you know because Chen would stay very low key and he put on that crazy act and all of that. Tony kind of ran thinks. Shane was really the powerhouse you know in seventies eighties during my era for sure. Okay so you very powerful you said earlier that Ah you're an earner and I remember listening to you. Tell your story about the gasoline racket that you ran and I was like. Oh my God. This guy is a genius. How old were you whenever you started becoming like the number one earner for the mob basically and can you explain the gasoline racket that you started? And how you thought of that idea. Yeah Baseball's you might twenty S. I was fortunate path that I had a head for business and I knew how to use that life to benefit me in business and you know just quick thing I had a lot of legitimate. The business is going on I had to automobile dealerships at a leasing company. Had A lot of stuff that I I'd put together but you know the real Score I would call look for me. Was the gasoline business. Basically it was a guy out eastern long island that had a small gasoline operation at a company and two guys from another family. They were extorting him. They were trying to get involved in business so he ran to me. I was kind of guy on long island for help and basically. He told me that. You know he had a germ of an hi dea on how to defraud the government at attacks on on every gallon gas when they know you gotta understand. I hated the government at that. You know my targets. I was is ever. My targets are always big. If I went after anybody financially I would go after an insurance company a bank because they got all the money and they don't feel it and of course the government right right so this was right up my alley so I said all right. We'll we'll try. Let's see with this With this is all about so I got rid of the two guys who were bothering him. I made them go away. I didn't get rid of it. Got To be careful. I talk made those guys go away and I had this Guy Guy Around me pat listeners. A guy around his name was Vinnie. Big Guy Right and he had a scar across the top of WHO's really scary looking guy. He was my butch the butcher service Saturday he would bring me right so this particular time. I put this Vinnie. Next to this guy. Larry's name was who had the guests operates. I should watch Sousse guy. Let's see if he's really onto something so about two weeks later we start. A new company opened up an office two weeks later. He comes to me on a Saturday and he's got this this box on his shoulder so I open the door and say hey. What are you doing all this meat? What are we having a party? I don't know about it. He said to me no chief. Aim me come in the kitchen so we go on and kitchen and he puts the box down on a table opens it up and he said this is the first week stake in the gas business with three hundred twenty thousand dollars along smelled like gasoline smoked up the whole house. You know so he really caught my attention and we grew that three twenty over seven eight year period to you know between eight and ten million dollars a week that we're bringing it you know I had I had over three hundred and fifty gas stations Aida Ada owned or operated in that I had eighteen companies that were licensed to collect tax and every gallon of gasoline. So we really had it going on for quite some time. I'm you know. I recruited the Russians from Brighton Beach. They will my partners. They had a number of Brian branded stations at that point so we had a pretty big operation up and down the East Coast folks. I assume whenever you're bringing in that much money for the family you become quite a hot commodity for the Mafia. I'd assume well. Yeah I mean you know when I realized what I had. I went to see my boss who was calling I at the time he passed away early this year and I said Julia they call them Julia. Julia I'm going to show you more money than you ever show on your life so immediately looked at me. We don't deal with drugs. They should junior snot drugs. I hate drugs. We didn't do anything which watch I said it's gas I should. But here's what's going to happen as soon as the rest of the families know about it. Everybody's GONNA WANNA get involved. You can't let that happen because we'll blow it. I said so every time I have an argument every time tries to somebody. Somebody tries to get involved with me. I got a win. No politics no nothing. You gotTA stand behind me and if you do that show. I'm GonNa make you a wealthy guy well at the height of my apparition. I'm bringing in two million dollars a week into the family. That buys a lot of loyalty pet. I never lost an argument. I never Even we've got all these guys that tried to get involved. I never lost because you know. That's the golden goose at that point. Nobody's going to let that go away. How did that end up getting stopped was that ultimately ultimately your demise or did you have to pull out of the because of sketchy situation my partner? The guy that I started with at listened to pat he was six foot five five two hundred almost five hundred pounds when he was really heavy but he always wears between four sixty five hundred pounds right a big guy and he wasn't a sloppy. Fat Immediate was just a big solid. It Guy Anyway. He gets himself in trouble on another case he gets indicted and in the middle of his trial. He comes to me you know. We had a jet plane helicopter. We gotta compound in in Panama. We are actually paying off Noriega at times says to me he says a chief leaving. He says I'm I'm not gonNA stay. I'm not GONNA do time. Look at me. I'm so big. I can't even sit on a cotton prison so he takes off to Panama and he's helping run. The operation from there will what happens. There was no extradition from Panama. That time Tina United States. But you know what happened. The feds went in there in the middle of the night and kidnapped him and they brought him back to Florida and as soon as they got him here they said you know you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison unless you tell us everything you know about Michael. When he became an informant at that time and kind of blew the whole gas thing up so I ended up taking a plea to a big case as a result of his Cooperate so the if I recall correctly you came and spoke get. Wvu to talk about sports gambling and stuff like that. Did you ever have your hand in that or did you just know of others that were doing that in the mafia world. No I've had I had my hand in it it because I had a number of bookmakers that will work for me. You know any bookmaker that can carry a decent bet. A bet somehow is going to be involved with us because you know they had collection problem so we helped him collect obviously and if they needed money would lender to them so bookmakers operated under control so I had a bunch of them working for me and we had a lot of athletes gambling with us at the time. So you know I was involved like that if an athlete couldn't pay or somebody involved with the League couldn't pay you know they'd bring him into me the and we work out a situation where the compromise yet from the game. Well they go get the money someplace and they pay us back so one way or the other they had to do it. How often did that happen in? It has all the stories of that happening. Come out you know all the stories do not come out for sure And I don't want I don't want the people think that every game is fixed when they see something wrong with the referee or or somebody doesn't make good play but you know back in my day it happened quite often pat. It really did. Wow I mean you know you know. Athletes had a tendency to gamble and they got themselves in trouble. And you know on the pro level today. It's less the problem because these guys are making so much money. They can cover their bets. You know. It's more restricted to college. Right now is you know as you know. Some of these young guys can get themselves in trouble and and they have no way to pay off the debt. But it happens more than you think I can tell people at Sports. Gambling has become legal now. And it's getting. Do you think that's going to help the problem album or hurt. The problem more quarterback in Arizona Cardinals areas on the IRS. He's not really what the team he just got caught up in a gambling situation. It was legal. They say Or it was legal. Because he went through. Caesar's what do you think this is going to help with that problem or hurt with that problem because guys are going to go elsewhere to gamble. I think it's GonNa hurt it because you know the more access you have to to gambling and you know l.. Athletes have a tendency to gamble on. I understand that it's kind of A. You know an extension of their competitiveness. You know what I mean I like to. I enjoy watching a game if I have a few bucks on it more..

"Holy Shit I know. Let's get to this Combo. Ladies and gentlemen joining us. Now is a man that revolutionized the mafia he was known as the Yuppie Dawn. He was a part of the Colombo family. He has changed his life around completely. Now he's a coach and a good one at that this coming December this month. He is launching two websites that you can check him Out Ladies and gentlemen one of the most exciting conversations. I've looked forward to in a long time. I heard disband speak when I was in college at West Virginia. We wasn't heard him talk. We weren't allowed to. We weren't weren't told who was talking to us. It was an hour long motivational speeches. Captivating Ladies and Gentlemen joining us now Michael Francis how are you realize that That I meet you in west. Virginia I shook your hand. I'm from Pittsburgh where a lot of you Italians Rome so I was excited to chat with you man. That's cool man. Yeah there's a lot of us down there for sure. got a couple of them in a room right now. Okay so let's lead off with your story you're born and raised in in Brooklyn and your basically. Your Dad was a member of the Mafia. If I have that correct. That's correct. My Dad was the under boss of the Colombo family back in the sixties. Okay okay so. I watched the Irishman just yesterday and I feel like I've gotten refreshed on the entire Mafia thing. What was life like growing up with a dad? That was an underboss in a Mafia family. Well you know it wasn't only that he was the boss Pat for some reason. My Dad was probably the highest profile figure of his time. You you know. He got a lot of attention. He was constantly under investigation. Always a major talkative law enforcement so I grew up around you know. FBI and law enforcement basically basically shadowing my father twenty four seven. So I mean I grew up hating to police for that reason because they were always there I got into many. You know as-as with them and arguments and so on and so forth so it was strange you know I love. My daddy was a great father so I always looked at law enforcement at that. Time is the enemy so I grew up with that kind of thinking thinking you know early on in my life and I think if I recall right from restore you told us it West Virginia. You weren't planning on going into the family business and then one time you visited your dad in jail and told him basically. You're going to get in there to help him. Get Out of my accurate in saying that. Yeah what happened. I mean. I was pre med student and I was an athlete that played ball at Hofstra University. And my daddy drew a fifty presence Prison sentence for allegedly masterminding a nationwide shrimp get back route. which is mostly ordered this whole string of robberies stories? And at the time Joe Colombo boss family. I got very close with him at a lot of my dad's friends and you know they told me. What are you doing only school fool? If you don't help you father out. He's GonNa die in prison because he was fifty when he went in so I go to see him in the visiting room down there in Leavenworth and I sit dead. You know what's the deal with distinct robbery. And he's swore up and down. He said son. I was framed. I'm not a bank robber and we gotta work to try to get this conviction overturned. And that's what just time I'll the whole head around and I said okay. I gotTA leave school to try to help you out. And that's when he basically proposed me for membership in the family because he said that if you're going to be on the street I launch on the street. The right way in his mind the right way was to become a member of his life so he proposed for membership at that point in jail not proposed membership of the Mafia. Well when I shit proposed to send word downtown you know to the family leadership down there John Proposing my son and at that point in time I sat with Who is the the boss of our family at that time? The acting on bellies passed on. Now who's you know. Joe Colombo had been shot and seriously wounded at that big rally that we had determined American in Civil Rights Day Columbus circle so Tom Rayner down through me. So you know you fathers proposing you for this life and from now on twenty four hours a day seven days a week wrong. Call to serve the Colombo family that means if your mother is sick and dying we call you to service you leave your mother you come and serve us from now on win number one in your life before everything thank show it at twenty two years old. I wish recruited at that point time. And that's it for me. What are some of the jobs you do? As a young guy trying to earn earn your way into the family just getting into the mafia basically you gotta do what you told me you know. Look I'm always honest. Honest with the audience they say that order to make your ball so to speak. You know you gotta be involved in a murder. You gotTa Kill Somebody and basically on call to do whatever told to do and I had to be in Brooklyn seven days a week almost and I was kind of at the Beck and call of my boss and my captain at the time and You know at the same time I'm an earner so I'm trying to earn a living trying to impress them. Show them that I can Can you know bring money into family so I was kind of doing everything you know. I'm anxious leading up to the night when I would be called into to be formally mate and for me. That happened on Halloween night. Nineteen seventy five. I was I was which made with five other guys that time is that like in the movie. Goodfellas there's like a candle that's burn and it's in your hand and the whole thing. Where from now on you're reborn? Basically you're made man. Is that how it goes in real life as well yeah. It's a very solemn ceremony. The way we did it there were six of us at night. And it was that Anthony Colombo Joey son had a catering hall in Brooklyn. And that's what we held. The service goes obviously. You don't want the law around so it's got to be very covert and the six of US walk individually the boss receded. At the head of like a horseshoe configuration the underboss constantly area which is an official position which is left. And right and all of our capos captains were long-sighted 'em so I walked down. The aisle stood in front of the boss held out my hand. He took a knife and cut my finger. Awesome blood drop down flow. This is a blood oath and I caught my hands. He took a picture of a Saint Catholic Baltic Cod put it in my hand limited aflame and it didn't burn a heard you know burke. wilco quickly was merely symbolic and he said tonight. Michael Francis you are born again. It's a new life La Cosa Nostra. Violate which you know about this light. Light betray your oath and you'll die. Burn in Hell like the Saint is writing in your hands and he should. Do you accept and I said yesterday I do. That's that's how it goes. Oh my God what a wild scene that you've got. I'm sure you at this. Point can fathom the people from outside looking in the mafia world. It's so intriguing. Rigging that this existed in American after watching the Irishman by the way you you Mafia folks had your hands in everything in the history of America. Well you know he did and and you know what I tell people. Is that you know. We survived and prospered for well over a hundred years in this country and the reason for that is because we infiltrated society from the guy on the street and the numbers business white up to the White House and everything in between we control the unions. We had You you know a lot of politicians that we we had strong influence over and you control the unionists country. Basically control the country and at one point in time. Hi between the teamsters and you know the way to some treasures and you know and everything at the docks we really had. It sewn up so it all for a period of time in this country I always say Pat. The the golden era of the mob in America and especially in New York was really from the fifties right through the mid eighties when truly the anti started to go crazy with the racketeering loss. But during that you know forty period thirtieth period rather when we really controlled a lot of what was going on in this country. How do you control a union? Yeah how's that happening. Because we watch Hoffa we in the Irishman he got hoffa in the in the mob. We're getting into that was ultimately the demise of Hoffa. How do you control the unions? You get in top with the president and the people on top of that. Yeah I mean you install your people there you know and hops to a great degree. He older lot of what he had to guys like us and by the way. Let me just comment on the Irish man. I thought it was a good movie. I really did you know those performances. Those guys are always great. I felt Pacino kind of sold a show but I will tell you this. It was total fabrication Clo- no pack sheer handed not kill Hoffa. He's been discredited so many times and I know that for a fact and he absolutely the Joe Joey Gallo. I mean that was right in my time my family and I obviously knew what was going on back then. We almost went to war today and I was recruited fruit after time but I was intimately involved in what was going on there and the shooter's for gala. Were known I mean this guy just made it up he absolutely made it up Aside from.

"The Dow is up twenty seven the NASDAQ down eighteen we'll get more from the Bloomberg business report minutes. Six fifteen it's time for sports and Ryan will acorss the Tigers wind up being swept by the Houston Astros and a lot of rumblings here. The the lions players aren't aren't too happy with their new coach year after only one game. We all knew that the lions a lot of players like head coach Jim Caldwell and some were sad to see him. Leave. Interesting quote came out today. Greg from Glover Quin of raised some eyebrows. He made a comment that not everyone's happy with Matt Patricia because then everybody is going to be happy with a new coach, which is leading some to believe there might be some dysfunction in the locker room. In the meantime, Matt Patricia addressing the media and all the speculation about whether the New York Jets new the play calls on Monday's game. And whether they were calling out Matthew Stafford was checking at the line. You know, what I mean every week we try to do things to change stuff up. So I think I talked about the. Set situation in particular. But you know, you're always our kind of conscious on all sides of the ball knowing that there's a lot of communication that takes place in the game of football, making sure that everything kind of moves in a good direction calls change from week to week anyways, just in general from packages Patricia also announced today, he has no further updates to give on Jay Langer. Ziggy Ansah injuries while Adam schefters reporting an MRI reveal no damage to Ziggy shoulder. So he's hoping to play in Sunday's game with San Francisco. "Lions radio seven sixty WJR. Steve Courtney, Sean Malaysian back here at blitz lions, Paul forty eight seventeen to the New York Jets. That's what I said. It is what it is folks. Right now, we take you back to our colleague Lomas Brown. He is standing by. With a crafty veteran Glover Quin. Thanks, steve. I'm here with globe or Quin over you guys grabbed the momentum early in the game. I get the pick six what happened from that point on? You know, we just couldn't capitalize on it. Okay, right back out right after that. And. Just couldn't get out to fill in third downs gave a couple of plays. You know, they they went on at school or maybe the next drive to drive late or something like that the game. And then we had a big return. And then I get a field goal. And it was just you know, we just didn't just didn't play. Well, you know, we had the one the one big play. But I think outside of that, you know. So we just didn't have enough big place. What about the third house was anything? You guys seen them film with the jets offense that we'll let you know. They would have that kind of success on third down. Well. We we knew what they were gonna do on third downs. At least we had an idea where they're going to try to do like, I said, they just you know, they executed him and may plays and. You know, we didn't. And so anytime you do that it's going to be tough to win. So as one of the leases on the team Bove. I notice a short we go in the same across the country. Like, what would you tell the guys man because you you wanna lease on team? What you're going to try to tell the guys keep them. Right. We've got to get back put ahead down. And we just gotta go and grind, you know. Pardons are not gonna fix themselves. So you know, what I'm saying, you gotta you gotta go you gotta figure it out. You got to look at the field. Got to put the work in and and get it fixed. Because if not. NFL same thing the next week, right? I appreciate it. Dan. Thanks overtime, man. Thank you. Back to you, Steve. Alright low appreciate it. Oh, dear. Executive producer. Nick rati just keeps coming. Valuable tidbits? They're very sad. Sean. I don't have it. In me. Go ahead. You know, we were pontificating on the thirty one points. Thirty one points not spread out over three quarters, but thirty one points in the third quarter, and our esteemed executive producer. Nick Roddy said the thirty one points by the jets in the third quarter is the most points by any team in a quarter since one thousand nine hundred fifty since nineteen fifty the LA Rams and norm. Van Brooklyn did it against the lions back in nineteen fifty nineteen fifty sixty eight years ago, sixty eight years ago, norm van Brooklyn. Oh boy. Yeah. It's. When you start bringing numbers into a terrible loss like that. Yep. All you're doing is just throwing salt. What salt sodium chloride is that what it is. Or whatever. Well into the open wound. We kept saying that this was historic in something that we talk about for a long time. Unfortunately, no, it really is historic and. I didn't see it coming not a million miles away million miles away. No, not like this. Just not like, no, no. It's Steve again. I think you brought this up very early in the show. I think a vast majority of us had convinced ourselves that the lines were going to win this game win this game. This is something it's not even a loss. You don't even call this a loss. It counts the same, and we can say that for all intensive purposes. But this way like that so quickly in every facet of the game. I mean, really handing them points letting them run for points getting big pass plays for points getting big special teams play for points. It it truly was. Well, remarkable you go back to the pre game. And what will we stressing that with the scenario that the lions are looking at new season new coach homefield advantage New York Jets that it's important to come out tonight punch him in the mouth, don't look back and get the win. And let's move on. Well with that pick six in Europe seven nothing very early. It looked like they were on their way to do that. But we also said you've got to put them away. Don't give the rookie quarterback the idea that he is still in it. And that's that's the scenario that unfolded. My for not only that we kept we kept handing them the ball. I mean, I it was remarkable. I. Five interceptions. I feel like we're even glossing that over its they weren't on the same page. Nothing looked right. It really was something that you know, what's the old adage the coach comes in the room says boys were just gonna burn this tape. And that this could be one of those games or you just said, you know, we're gonna burn this date. There's there's nothing redeeming from this. We're gonna burn this tape and get back to work. You know, what the problem with? That theory is though, you know, I've watched my shirt legal shows in my time, and you always get into that situation where somebody's going to say something and there's an objection strike it from the records. The jury will erase that from their memories. You can't can't do it. Now, you can't you can't do it. And this is your surely you can't. Not see what you can't unsee rice. Yeah. And so, you know, this is worry, Iran. Yeah. And it is. Perhaps as big an issue as they're going to make it. You know, now read into what I just said it is as big a problem as this lions team will make. That's pretty profound. This is. This is something Steve this really is something different, you know. And we're going to see where this team goes with this. If they take this as a personal affront, and and get the chip on their shoulder. We are so much better than that. And we're gonna show y'all that were so much better than that. Or you let this marinate, and if this marinades, then you really worry about you really worry about it tumbling downhill mortem more to come. This.
