"Hey and welcome to the short stuff. I'm Josh and there's Chuck. This is short stuff and this is a good one. I'm I'm excited about this one chuck. Let's go go go. Yeah I. Mean we're talking about petticoat rulers and it might surprise people considering America today is ranked eighty one out of one hundred, ninety, three countries in women representation government that we actually had. women who were mayors and city council people way back in the eighteen hundreds. Yeah they're a two towns in particular Owes Collusive Kansas in Connecticut Utah that had elected all female town councils in eighteen, eighty, eight, nineteen, twelve respectively, which is pretty substantial but then Jackson Wyoming home to famous Jackson Hole Wyoming. Which I guess is a hamlet or a Burger, some sort of affiliated town but it's basically the same place from what I understand Oh may oregon to get some email from the Jackson people. they said, you know what? Hold our beer are hold ourselves parrilla because we're GONNA one up both of those towns and in nineteen twenty year that women were granted suffrage by the Constitution or the bill of rights I should say that same year. Jackson. Wyoming elected not only in all woman town council chuck but also a mayor, a woman mayor for the first time ever and the that group these petticoat rulers they came to be known appointed women to the highest positions in the town clerk health treasurer, and Marshall in that. Amazing. It is amazing and I'm I was surprised to see that the first woman elected mayor in the United States was all the way back in eighteen eighty seven. Yeah. I had an I had no idea. Yeah. It was a Gloria Kansas her name was Well, this one was the one I believe we covered her before in something Susanna Salter who was placed on the ballot is Sort of a prank. By men in the town who didn't think that women should hold office, they put her on the ballot thinking that she would be humiliated in it set women back politically and she didn't know she was on the ballot. It was like a blind ballot until the day of the election. And she she one that's all an went on to be mayor the other ones Qaluza. Mary de Lohman. She was legitimately elected mayor in the first woman elected as mayor In Kansas with an all city council full of women nothing. But ladies that's amazing. But the the thing is yeah, like we we think about it today and we're like that's just that's unheard of you know like literally unheard of I hadn't heard about that before but the the state of Wyoming's actually known as the equality state in one of the. Reasons why is because? You know we associate nineteen twenties the year that women were granted. The right to vote does the national thing they had the right to vote back in eighteen, sixty, nine in Wyoming. So it kind of gives it a little more texture or context or both to know that that women already had the right to vote for. More than fifty years before Miller in all female town council where elected in Jackson. Yeah. That's how Mary Lohman one in Oscar Lusa is they had in Kansas they had the right to vote in municipal elections. And they won by a two to one margin on the Oscar Lusa improvement ticket. I'm the one in Utah was interesting too, and they both kind of had similar stories in that when they got an office. one of their big things was to Kinda just. Clean up the town collect back taxes I. think they had something like two hundred dollars in collected taxes just because people just refuse to pay and they went around personally to the houses I think they left office with two thousand dollars in the city coffers. and then Mary Wooley Chamberlain of Connecticut Utah She was mayor for two years and she had a female city council and she was one of the enacted one of the first leash laws for dogs. Oh cool and then wanted to protect local business. So she enacted a a daily tax on traveling salesmen coming through town. Because she was like you can't just come through town, steal a bunch of business and leave. With your pockets full. So we're GONNA tax you guys per day just to kind of drive business to protect local business. That's some smart government right there. Yeah. Well, let's take a break. We'll come back and talk about some more smart government that was instituted by women around the turn of the last century. Okay..

"With Brian Sussman on talk radio five sixty. We got snow slopes. It's an it's an organization that. Originally, it was billed as husband and wife team that in their spare time with research stories and just sit the facts straight. Tell you who's lying out there. But then over time, we realize this is actually it's become a multi million dollar operation that is is a front for the left, speak news, in my opinion. No, you're totally right to left. Leaning fact checking website that gives preferential treatment. And to to the left, and it's used now by Facebook and Google. So this has to do with the American Indian activist Nathan Phillips and his false claim of being a Vietnam veteran so Phillips, of course, what shot the national attention last weekend after that viral confrontation between him and a group of high school kids from the Catholic school and Phillips with the help of all the people in the national media said the boys mobbed him racially harassed him as he tried to leave. People's March, but video evidence as we've talked about all week pretty much debunks this guy's account. And in addition to botching the details of the confrontation, the media outlets. Also kept saying he's a Vietnam veteran needs a Vietnam combat veteran. He's a Vietnam hero. Are they they said all this stuff? And then yesterday, of course, we spilled the beans. Oh my goodness. We've looked at the military record records. He was never deployed Vietnam. He was a refrigerator technician with the marines. And while by the way, he was a marine. He got a lot of trouble got a lot of trouble. We denoted a lot of that trouble as well. But snow PTS oh slopes incorrectly. Labeled it unproven, right? That Phillips had falsely claimed to be a Vietnam veteran. No declined to change its misleading ruling despite definitive video evidence. It's just amazing amazing amazing length they go to to lie. Well, then as we alluded to in the first hour, both Facebook and Google gives snow PTS preferential treatment on their platforms. Google placed slopes misleading. Fact check at the top of their search results Katie talked about that earlier this morning. This is regarding his Vietnam claims so Google had Snoop's misleading. Fact, check front and center there. It is up up every eight it's you can believe this guy at Facebook. Also plays Snoop's. Inaccurate fact check at the top of their search results. This was about his non existent Vietnam. Deployment. In fact, if you go to Facebook, a blue fact checker badge accompanies the post I ag- nor those badges like nobody's business. Literally. What what Facebook does is? If you have any doubts gosh is this true or not? They have a fact checker badge, and they did this with with the fake Vietnam veteran India, right? And you know, what if it's funny because the fake that's fake, news fact, checker badge is based on Facebook's opinion that I mean, they're the ones determining what's true and what's false, which is just crap. Yeah. This is where we are folks. So people using Facebook for their main or Google for their main source of news, or any of these outlets for your main source of news. And this is what people do days. Well, Hello, look at how big that stupid story. Got just because of BuzzFeed, right? That's like that's like a story blowing up from the onion. Good point. You can go to BuzzFeed right now, and they have a quiz where you go through all of your favorite items from different fast food restaurants. They claim to be able to tell you what color your hair is. Okay. That's that's the website. We're using for news. Or are you serious? Yeah. That's what we're doing. That is what we're doing. There's there's a story of a drudge I've looked at the headline like five times this morning. And I just saw what a click on this. It because. Okay, ready for this? Here's their here's drudge headline lost labrador returns home with another dog and the goat. Don't you want to look at this one? It's there's a video of this. I've seen it. It's so cute is all. Dog and the and the guy he's videoing it, right? And he gets he gets the three of these little little punks running to him from probably about a football field away. Oh, yeah. One hundred yards. This is the prairie. I mean, this is this is farmland. Okay. Yeah. I'll get this video up at the blog. But so you know, he he opens up the truck door and lets his dog jump in. You know, what the other dog jumping? And he's like, hey, you wanna get a truck to and the goat jumps in. And they're all hanging out all happy. Now, if you look out their back door, you could look as far as the horizon, and there's nothing there is nothing there backyards, the whole state of Kansas. Their backyard is their backyard is just a big flat farmed prairie probably they probably grow weed out there. And of course, all the weeds cut down is just flat as a pancake, and it goes and goes it goes to the let the dog out to take a leak dog. Never comes back dubbed ever comes back. Sudden, hey, the dog, and he's got a friend way. And the data Friday looked they said, we looked all over the place forum. We couldn't find it. Well, can I tell you something if you're looking all over the place that dog you have looked all over the place because at back yard, yours goes on forever and ever and ever. Credible. Guy the guy who has taken the video. I'm watching it right now because I'm putting it up on our website. He goes, oh, wait. He's got a goat Intel. It's got to go Intel with them. So they went out in the morning to look for him. No sign. They gave up all hopes. This just happens life on the farm, right? So anyway, they get a big surprise hearing that the dog had been seen about six miles away from home. Six miles away from home in the bay area. That's another town. Right. Okay. My wife got a call the someone and head judge chest about hit a black lab. A white lab at a goat. My wife called me and told me the news, and I knew right away. That was our dog. I left work right away. I saw the crew out in the cut bean field on the east side of the highway. Cut bean field. The crew being dog the dog and the goat. Yeah. Cut being field. That's what it is cut being. I thought it was wheats cut beans soy, no doubt. This is so great. So the video has the heartwarming moment.
