So it's a positive cycle that actually cuts back on waste actually often consign them so you can eat off actually made too but if you don't want them is still does not a go into a landfill or be sitting in your closet or or whatever but unfortunately there's a stigma surrounding secondhand clothing stores or thrift shops. But it's time to bring this to light and talk about it and why it's so flawed this. I'm on my soapbox secondhand shopping saves you. Money has a positive impact on the environment. And if it's done correctly can certainly lead to a closet. Full some cool new duds huber very stoic. Today i'm not sure where to chime in here. Well i don't know okay. Well well as. It's not may it's made to be thrown away and it's bad for the environment wasteful and a whole bunch of other things so yeah the criminal around coming around to this way of thinking. Because i usually looking for something specific and so i know there are certain areas of town that i want to go to if i want to get some like high end boots at a great deal or something like that but there are a lot of boutique style secondhand or consignment shops that are not that are for profit enterprises. That are not associated with charities. A lot of them are but a lot of them are. I didn't know that there's ten point. Five million tons of clothing that is sent to landfills every year ridiculous. Ninety five percent of the clothing is sent to the landfills can be recycled. Oh that's interesting either through goodwill and secondhand stores or just used again you know. However when you start getting into the nose and taste it is not an. I'm gonna go ahead and try to put my my little spin on this. I feel like this is much more share influence in my wrong. You're absolutely correct. Okay good good so my palate isn't just busted like i look at least a little bit what i'm talking about. Oh absolutely yup. The color is kind of kind of a dead giveaway. You don't you don't see that sort of Like just burnt copper. Hugh without without some some hefty sherry cask fluence. So now we're talking about a very very different flavor profile than than you're gonna find compared to the other two and you know i love I love coming up with these flights. Who said i do a lot of tastings both in person and lately virtual with the way that the the world has been and so once you once you switch to what we like to call in the in the scotch world sherry bom. You do not go back from that. So that's that's always going to be your closer for the evening and you know it's just gonna stick and stick to your mouth and just Coated with that extra sweetness. And there's definitely no going back after that. So is it just because of just the sweetness. And that's just we basically you're you're just gets like succumbs to it and then it's really kind of hard to go back to either something. That's a little more hay or straw color or anything like that. Yeah yeah we're just talking about the the the most full-body profile in that that that extra sweetness that comes from from the sherry. It's it's hard to top that the only thing that would top this would be something heavily pitted but were a that. That poor didn't make it to you. Unfortunately it's okay out of l. Have a little bit and it'd be like poor. Chris now goes down the drain. Exactly what you're probably noticing here is just how front forward those red berries. And that that hefty hefty baking spices. The times the actually most times the sherry casks get used in the production of scotch Either held alrosa theory or px. Pedro humanitarian and those are the sweetest of the sweet in. If you look at the spectrum of different types of sherry a whole bunch of different types. There's sherri out there that actually looks just like white. Wine has sort of a dry dry texture to it but and and also Have this super robust sweetness peaks in particular. The grapes. actually get sun-dried down to like the consistency of raisins Just makes it this huge big blast of sugar that goes into the production. And so yeah i mean you can. You can really tell the difference when when you're talking about A sherry compared to an expert on task for sure. And i will say that i've had the opportunity to have a a sheree bomber to if you will in in this was i think for maybe anybody getting into bourbon. I guess angels envies me your closest kind of competitor kind of something that you can get off the shelf relatively easy and compare it side by side However there's a notable difference in the flavor of the whiskey When it comes from something. That's a scott sherry versus something. That's just you know a bourbon. Finish in an export barrel. Yeah and you know. Part of that has to do with the fact that You almost get a chance to isolate the influence that sherry cask has without the competition from the corn so you think about the what a dominating grain corn ism and the kind of sweetness that that grain ads in bourbon. Well you take that. And you add a sherry cask finish to it and now you're just throwing suite on top of sweet And it kinda makes it. Tricky sometimes to to separate the two but when you start looking at something like a single malt where we're talking about a very different Much more robust grain. That doesn't just add that that. Big last of sweetness like multi barley. Now the influence that you're getting from the sherry cask is way more Easier to isolate it and really kind of kind of see exactly what kind of influence it has on. the whiskey is much more pronounced. You definitely do get more of that. Sharing note and i actually had to go back in and try number two Side by side to kind of figure out like okay. Well which one was more bourbon like It's hard to tell like i. I would love to be able to put two and three into a flight and actually see if i could be like which ones not the bourbon and i think that color alone. Of course three is going to be in there to a rule self out Still feel to would would still hang pretty well when it comes to it. Yeah i think so but but with three you know i'll let you do the reveal her in a second i i do feel that there is a very there is a there is a good share influence. That might for at least people that are not accustomed to a lot of bourbons would be like. Oh that's overly. Fruit forward is what they would probably think it is in fact it's really not what it is at all but it's still a very standout whiskey and i think and i know i'll put up to. You is like if you are if you are a bourbon drinker and you gave me three flights there three samples today in your to say like okay you want to make an entrance into the scotch released to try just to try and expand your horizons because we're all getting sick of chasing after allocated and getting told no you can't get any attack this year. Whatever it is what. Which one do you think is the right. Move for for somebody to go for here or is it just. I'd say it's a it's a tricky question. And the reason why i paused for a minute is that i chose a sheriff bam on purpose. Poor number three Because in my experience at least With with friends and family that are primarily bourbon drinkers. For for whatever reason the sherry bomb always seems to be a hit with the bourbon folks. i think that there you can kind of relate to the sort of the extra sweetness that kind of almost as itself as a really really thick layer on top of sort of that green forward note and so When you make the you make the switch over to scotch and now we're talking about again a grain in multi barley. That is very very different. Style than what you would find with with a corn based greenville having. I think the comfort of that extra sweetness from the sherry cask goes a long way while i think the that the The dean stanton gone. Scotia are are are great choices if you really want to Kind of easier way in by kind of going backwards through the level of sweetness. Something that's got some heavy sherry influence would probably be a good place to start all right. So do the reveal what are we. What are you drinking for. Number three number three is actually a single barrel and this is a fifteen year old single barrel from the balcony. So i happen to be a huge fan their name before. I've i've heard of before. So i know they're at least somewhat popular. Yes it's the Sexually the sister company our sister distillery of glenfiddich both owned by william grant and sons. They actually are almost like right next door to each other. And so this is a. This is a single sherry cask from the balcony. And i actually just getting to the end of this bottle but i have another one next to me and i want to show you the difference in color when i hold this bottle up. We're talking about like. Wow a fairly barely see through it. Yeah exactly And so any actually will put out. I fill sherry. Casks like this an refill sherry casks under the same label. And if you're curious to know which one is which just take a look at the color like you can tell. This is the first phil like. There's no doubt about it but there's a you know there's a there's a a really really crazy. Transformation that happens You know after fifteen years in a single sherry button and you're you're tasting here the the thickness in the The again just all of those dry berry notes The heavy spice. It's just heavy on the cinnamon and nutmeg. It all come so much of it comes from the sherry itself. The belvin is a really cool. Distillery to age sherry casks because The house style of this story is kind of an orange honey honey citrus type of profile to begin with So you think about like something. That's kind of heavy on the honey already. And then you add that sherry cask influence..
