GOP Presidential Hopefuls Prepare for Trump
"Washington Post GLP 2024 hopefuls grapple with how to take on Trump. Now they don't. They're waiting. They don't make any decisions yet. They're just going to rate. The one and only I note this is a political note. One of the country's finest political minds Phil Cox has already working for Ron DeSantis and then Jeff Rowe, who was the political agenda Glenn youngkin and to Ted Cruz, has opened a super PAC that's going to support Ron DeSantis. So maybe pay attention to a detail like that.

Could Glenn Youngkin Surpass Donald Trump & Ron DeSantis?
"I think I could be wrong. This is going to come down to Trump or desantis. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who's really well politically connected. And he says, I'm telling you Glenn youngkin, Glenn youngkin, Glenn youngkin. Don't minimize the way he can resonate with the American people. But unless there is a late surge and hey, it can happen. Just ask the Furman paladins. You can post a big come from behind win. In sports and in politics, but it seems like it's going to come down to Trump or desantis. And I mean, this is a true headline. Ron DeSantis eating pudding with his fingers will end his 2024 bid. The pundits are now predicting doom. For Ron DeSantis.

The 2024 Horse Race
"Landscape is developing. And it's going to be a very long, tiring primary. A year from now, we're going to be right in the middle of it. And so we have Nikki Haley, who is officially announced him Scott, who looks like he's going to run Mike Pence, who's probably going to write, run Mike Pompeo, who's probably going to run. Whispers are that friend of the show, Vivek Rama Swami. Might run for president. And then, of course, Donald Trump is running. I think all of this helps Trump. All of this strengthens Trump's case. For 2024, Donald Trump running for the presidency, standing against neoliberalism, open borders, silly trade deals, and interventionist foreign wars is how he will differentiate himself amongst many other things, obviously. The fact that he was actually president, he got a lot done. These people say they're running for president. Nikki Haley says she's running for president Tim Scott says he is running for president, but in reality they are running against Donald Trump. That is the reality, but they're not going to say it. They're not going to try to insult Trump voters, but they are going to be running against Donald Trump. And I actually think that helps Trump. I think Trump will be able to navigate that successfully. The more kind of targets the better and they're going to start attacking each other because they're going to try to fill up the different lanes. Now whether or not Ted Cruz is going to run for president, that will be interesting if Marco Rubio run for president that will be interesting. We'll Glenn youngkin run for president. Will Greg Abbott run for president? These are all very interesting questions. Will Larry Hogan run for president? I think all of it helps Donald Trump

Schools become flashpoint for Republicans eyeing White House
"In these early days of the 2024 presidential race, some Republican candidates are adopting the parents rights movement as a key campaign platform. Some of the GOP White House hopefuls are focusing on education as it relates to race and sexuality. Suggesting new ways for government to shape what happens in local classrooms. It was a winning strategy in 2021 for Virginia governor Glenn youngkin, who flipped the state from blue to red. We're going to embrace our parents, not ignore them. Republican contender, Donald Trump is called for parents to elect and fire school principles. Expected candidate governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has banned lessons on sexual orientation and gender in lower grades. Nikki Haley Poised to Enter 2024 Presidential Race
"Now, how insane is it for Nikki Haley to challenge president Trump? Now, according to a report, Nikki Haley is going to announce. On February 15th, the post and courier newspaper out of Charleston is reporting that she's going to make the official announcement that she is going to challenge Donald Trump. And she wants to be the Republican nominee for president. Now, this is an interesting journey because any Republican who declares their candidacy is immediately going to earn the wrath of Trump world. No question. Trump supporters, you know, I think it's fair to say we're a pretty passionate bunch. We get emotional. We're loyal. We're grateful for the four years of the Trump presidency. We've lost count of how many people text the keyword Trump or the keyword more Trump to our MyPillow text line, which is 806 5 5 mic and we send you back the list of the Trump presidency accomplishments. They are enormous. They are profound. We're grateful. Extremely grateful. For what Trump accomplished and millions of Americans see one guy. So interestingly, anybody, whether it's Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie Mike Pompeo, Mike Pence, Glenn youngkin, I don't know, it could be another crowded field.

Using the Power of the Purse to Bring Down the National Debt
"Congressman, I want to talk to you about the debt, particularly because you are, this has been your issue for a long time. I mentioned the RSC thing because I think politically it doesn't resonate with people, but I know the national debt limit is a must have. It's got to be raised and therefore you can get something. And I'm begun the conversation. What do we want? And how do we get every Republican to agree to message it correctly? Yesterday, I had one of your colleagues suggest maybe we roll back the 87,000 IRS agent appropriation as the must have. I argued, I'd like the border wall as the must have. I don't really care, but I do want the messaging. What's chip Roy if you were the king of the forest, not queen not duke not Earl. What would you make the number one ask in exchange for raising the debt limit? All right, give me a little latitude here for a slightly long answer. You got a lot of runway. Go for it. Okay, well thanks. So number one, it's not the debt for the sake of the debt on the main issue that you raised. It's because I don't want to fund the bureaucrats and the tyrants who are screwing with us every single day. I don't want to give more money to the IRS or the FBI or the DHS and Oscar horror. I want us to use the power of the first effectively. Yes, I care about the debt. I don't want to rack up that for our kids and grandkids, but I also don't want to fund your bureaucrats. How do we deal with it? In my perfect world, the Senate wouldn't have just stuck it to us with a $1.7 trillion bill that last 3 September because then we would have used the power of the first earlier to deal with the border to deal with some of the issues raised like the IRS agent. But unfortunately, they did that. So now we don't really have any leverage other than the debt ceiling until October 1st. So I think that generally does stealing by ought to be about the structural reform to limit spending does it frankly, we stop racking up debt.

Freedom Foundation's Aaron Withe Describes How Parents Are Waking Up
"Just brought up something, and there's a lot that we're going to get into a specific resolutions. I mean, ranging from the national mask and back saying mandates and other things. But there's one that is, again, you really wouldn't expect the NEA or these conventions to be dealing with. You know, one was the filibuster. But one that was pointed out, it was really interesting to me, was they were having specific resolutions to deal or basically stacking the decks in the local school boards. And because they're so concerned about what we saw in the last 18 months with parents, all of a sudden, because of, you know, being put at home and on Zoom school, basically their understanding what their kids are doing taught and the parents are reacting to that. Talk about that a little bit because I think that's one of the undermines that is very concerning here. Yeah, I think that if you need to see the power of scoreboards look no further than the past couple of years and in districts where teachers unions had elected and paid for the campaigns of the scoreboard officials, then used those are the worst performing school districts over COVID. These were the school districts that were keeping kids out of school and on Zoom classes. These were the school districts that were masking kids up until very recently and of course in San Diego will probably get to it later. I'd now reinstating that mask mandate. I mean, these are the school districts that are pushing sex Ed and all these radical liberal policies. They're the ones that have been put in office by these teachers unions. But as you mentioned, parents are waking up. I mean, we've record score board members in districts that I never thought was even possible. You look down in California in San Francisco. They recall the school board members there. So I think that parents are really waking up across America. I think that that will continue into the November elections. And look at Glenn youngkin's race in Virginia. I saw that Virginia race as a reform on teachers unions. I

The Importance of the Equal Time Principle

"Man, I also add, I think they're screwing up candidate recruitment for 2024. You did a great job with Juan Cisco. And many other new members. Am I right about that that the delay is even delaying your particular personal efforts to recruit people for 2024? Is not only delaying that, it's being prepared to not only defend the majority that grow the majority. You want to take advantage of having the majority. Remember, this is a presidential year. So you only have so many months to really get out there and govern and you want to hit the ground running. Every day you lose, if you lose a quarter, you don't start strong. So you don't get new stronger candidates. You don't get more resources to be able to supply those candidates to get the message out. And people look at us and believe, are you ready to be religion if this is what's happening? How can you pass the big bills? How can you continue the course of history? How can you secure the border? Can House Republicans Get Out of There Own Way
"It's great to talk to you. I was just berating the knucklehead caucus. And I know you're a gentleman. You won't single out people. But these 5 Republicans are screwing up the transition. Are they retreating? Are they going to let things move forward? Leader McCarthy? Well, we're still continuing to talk, but they have not moved. And the difficulty here is that we are the only Republican entities stopping the Biden administration, but we're also going to be the only ones that can move forward, but it would delay everything getting committees up and running, being able to do the things that you know we need to get done from the very beginning. Well, the very most important thing, I'll name two, the select committee on China, which you've announced representative Gallagher is the chair, and I'm very happy about that. And you're a focus on the border and I just talked with governor youngkin about the fentanyl flood in Virginia. Do they not realize they are screwing up the staffing and standing up of these two important efforts, both border control and the select committee on China? I hope they do because we want to hit on the very first day. The very first day we want to repeal 87,000 IRS agents. We want to be able to secure the border. And we know that sitting all that's coming across. You don't just stop that by at the border where it begins in China. And one thing you have always been so good at is pointing out China's goals around the world. And that's why I stood up. A new select committee on China will be Republicans and Democrats. Congressman Gallagher will share it is an excellent member with great knowledge that to speak with one voice to standing up to China. I think long-term is so important. And to get that going on the very first day and not be able to have staff now, it's just going to delay a month and it gives Democrat the advantage when that happens.

Trump Unleashed: What Is He Up to Here?
"It seems like in the immediate aftermath of the midterm election, Trump is unleashed. I mean, this guy is. Laying it out there and in some senses bashing some of the people that he thinks are responsible or perhaps he thinks are obstacles to his own candidacy. And it's gotten things really riled up. There are some people who are, of course, cheering Trump on. Let's go. Trump, you're the guy. And these are the hardcore trumpsters. And then there is a faction. I have to say a fairly significant faction that is Trump has lost it. Trump should not do this. Why is Trump going after desantis? In one case, there was also a Trump tweet about Glenn youngkin. Wow, is Trump going after youngkin now? What is really going on? And there's all kinds of speculation about what's happening here. One theory is that Trump is not the center of attention, so he needs to be the center of attention, so he's just sort of chase putting himself into the into the limelight because he's never happy unless he's centrally in the limelight. Another critique of Trump that I've seen on social media. Again, this critique is coming from people on our side, these are not leftists or rhinos I'm talking about, is look, it is the obligation of a leader to prepare the next generation to cultivate the people who are going to come after him. In a sense, in his wake and be able to take things even further than he was able to. You can almost call this the sort of braveheart William Wallace model. I William Wallace may not make it, but Robert the Bruce will win the battle of bannockburn and the Scots will be free. It's to some degree even the Moses model Moses doesn't get to the promised land, but he leads people to the promised land and then the Israelites get to the promised land, although without Moses. So this is a, this is a very important theme here. And so I want to ask kind of what is Trump up to here.

This is why this is why it's dangerous. There are some people out there, and they believe that president Trump is Jesus Christ, and with good hair, okay? So this is a really, really interesting, fascinating political night that's going to be studied by political nerds like myself for years. We're still up in the air and maybe well past this broadcast CBS Jim crissa is in Atlanta, the race between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker very close and we may need a runoff. That's exactly right, Steve 97% of the vote has been counted now. And out of nearly 4 million votes counted. There's only a 30,000 vote difference between the incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock, who is in the lead at this point and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. At this point, Warnock has 49.4% of the vote, a bit ago. He was at 49.6%. Why is that important? Because here in this great state of Georgia, by law, he won running for statewide office has to get at least 50% of the vote Warnock 49.4% of the vote at this point. Again, about a 30,000 vote difference in still at 97% of the vote count at Steve. If there is a runoff election to be required and it sure looks like that at this point, that would take place on December 6th. And it was a good night for the Republican governor Brian Kemp. Kevin 'Votestradamus' McCullough Breaks Down Various Races
"Kevin, you were just making a point. Please continue. I want to break this down because in Virginia, New Jersey, you had two different approaches in which both states really had a Republican push. Jack chiarelli and Glen youngkin both outperformed what the polls were saying going into election day. The difference was in loudoun county in Virginia, the Democrats tried to stop the counting. They didn't really have a reason for it. They just said there were abnormal abnormalities. They needed to stop and check on whatever. They were going to start the next morning. His lawyers immediately said, nope, we're going to keep going. You're going to do this now. They took it to a judge, judge said, yep, you got to keep going. They kept going. Glenn youngkin was governor of Virginia the next morning. In New Jersey, Bergen county pulled the same thing that loudoun county did, only they were allowed to stop. And most people in Bergen county went to bed on election night thinking that Jack chiarelli had been elected governor. It was a big upset. I was one of them. I reported from the chiarelli campaign that night for different media groups. He had a significant lead in the state. The next morning, when Bergen county suddenly had the votes counted, there had been more than a 100,000 something to zero swing in just the one county. So here's my first caution from my calling yesterday. Anywhere you see this stuff trying to happen. If the RNC has not lawyered up and ready to take people to court, the minute that it gets tried, you're going to be in trouble in those races. But my hunch is that there's a lot more people watching out this year to make sure that we don't have those types of things happening, particularly in the Senate races in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada, which if we win those four, we win the Senate. Last thing I'll say on this, it is very, very important that no matter what race you think you're voting for, that you make sure that you take three to four people with you tomorrow

Virginia governor Glenn youngkin continues to praise the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the constitution's protections for an abortion, calling himself a pro life governor, the Republican tells CBS's face the nation that he's seeking to protect life when babies begin to feel pain. I believe that what my job is is to get something done. And I believe we can get a 15 week paying threshold Bill done in Virginia. For the first time, think about it. This was a state again that just 18 months ago was talking about enabling abortion all the way up through and including birth. And now we're able to talk about a 15 week paint threshold Bill, where a baby feels pain. This is a remarkable moment for us. And it's an opportunity I'm not going to let go. Governor youngkin did say he supports exceptions for rape incest and the life of the mother, but he did not say if he would pursue a total ban on abortion. "That's really what article three was built for. You and I have talked about this a lot, but it's these unchecked unknown bureaucracies with wide ranging power where they can make their own rules. They can implement them as they see fit and they act as if they're untouchable. That's why we have a Supreme Court. And to act as if that, well, it's there, therefore, we can't do anything about it. I think that logic falls apart rather quickly. I think it's a bad policy. It's a horrible policy. We all agree on what's going around now. What are we going to do? We're going to we're at the height of infection rates. And so we're going to push more medical workers out of hospitals. I mean, this is going to kill people, not enough people from home to crime. It's going to kill people that need to go to the hospital for other reasons. And most of these people that they're throwing out are people who are immune. I mean, it's really poor policy. And in addition to the fact that they don't have the power to do this under the statute. What did you make? And I understand you have to be careful about this. I'm just going to talk broadly about some of the courts, let's say, lack of knowledge when it came to very basic information when it came to the virus. I interpreted it as stay in your lane, interpret what the constitution says that that should be your expertise. What was your take on that? I thought I was grateful for it. Because I thought it showed that it really did show a little bit of a divide between the liberal block and the conservative block on the court. The way I would put it is, let me explain something to people. When they argue the case, you think they're asking questions of the advocate. And they are. But they're really sort of talking to each other also because later that same day, they were going to be voting on this in a room just the 9 justices. So their questions, they're actually trying to kind of convince other justices to come their way. And so really, the approach of the liberals on the court is mainly, hey, look, we've got a really good end, so it doesn't matter what means we use to get there. And of course, that is opposite the way, you know, our constitutional structure works. And so you've got guys like Robertson, others saying, you can't do a workaround. You got to go through the constitutional structure. But the liberals were more arguing these things, which they didn't know the facts about because they just, their heart was in the right place. They were trying to do something good. And so they didn't really care about how it was done. And so I thought it really showed something in a difference between the more conservatives on the court and the more liberals on the court. Well, yeah, and if you want to talk about deference to institutions, I mean, stay in your lane. I mean, that's where I kind of get so incredibly confused about this and also these are highly complex situations with and you saw a lido God bless him. He's been terrific, really dance around this. Like, wait a second, are there other ways to treat this disease? This can't just be a one size fits all thing. He's asking the mature in the prudent questions, right? And basically what he was getting at is, what if you're wrong? Don't we have to account for individual choice and agency? And so he came at it from a rather mature standpoint where the other justices. I don't think did. The whole thing was built on the delta variant. And we're not in the delta V anymore. So it was just totally irrelevant. The whole science was irrelevant anyway. That's right..

"Happy to do it, Charlie. All right, Kelly, summarize the rulings we got last week. Two parts, one osha, one Medicare healthcare workers kind of makes sense for it for our audience. Alicia was the bigger of the two. But they're both important. But if people don't know what osha is, osha is a federal agency that was created 50 years ago to make sure that there weren't like there was some ability to stop really dangerous situations in the workplace. And so they have the ability to tell you that you're not doing something and therefore help protect workers around the country. So they have a what you typically do if you're going to change a rule at ocean. Is you have to go through a long process. You have to allow people to make comments on your proposed rule. Because what you find is that the government often makes a lot of dumb mistakes and if people can't comment and say, hey, you're about to do something really bad here, then we don't end up with the best rule. But there is an exception. It's an emergency temporary exception. And it's been tried ten times. And of those times, it was challenged 6. It was only upheld once. So this is a really extreme thing. This is what they tried to do with COVID with the pandemic. They waited over a year. And then all of a sudden it became an emergency. And then they, what they did is they passed a rule. This was obviously everybody knows what this was. The administration originally said, the federal government can't force everybody to take a vaccine. We don't have that power, but then when they couldn't get it done, they tried to do it through osha. And what they passed said, every company with more than a hundred employees now has to tell other people to get vaccinated if not, they have to take a test once a week at their own expense, and then we now as you are going to, you're going to have to provide records. This is over 84 million employees. I mean, it was a massive takeover of all the businesses. And it included every religious organization with a hundred and more employees. You know, organizations like turning point and other.

Because we can't know where we're going unless we know where we have come from. But to actually teach our children that one group is advantaged and another is disadvantaged simply because of the color of their skin, cuts across everything we know to be true. And the immortal words of doctor Martin Luther King ring in our ears that we must judge one another by the content of our character and not the color of our skin. But this is what will be the founding principle of our executive order. What we're going to do in Virginia schools. "Utility. I've been in kind of a wait and see approach to kind of see what is young and going to do when he actually takes office. Well, on Saturday, Glenn youngkin was sworn in as governor of Virginia. Immediately, Glenn youngkin went to signing executive orders, aimed at keeping key campaign pledges on reading from Charlie Kirk dot com. To push back on highly divisive critical race theory and to investigate loudon county public school members and officials. Glenn youngkin within minutes of becoming governor, he decided to do what so Republicans hesitate to do. Which is to fulfill on your campaign promises. Number one, Glenn youngkin has banned all uses of critical race theory and public education in Virginia. To restore excellence in education Glenn youngkin, signs an executive order ending the use of divisive concepts, including critical race theory and public education. Number two Glenn youngkin is said to empower Virginia parents against this kind of theme of the parents party. In their kids education, it is now the rule in Virginia to allow parents to make decisions on whether their kids should wear a mask in schools. Mask mandates for children are dead in Virginia. To restore confidence and integrity in the parole, board of the Virginia comment on the come of Virginia, not exactly sure who that one is relevant to the theme we're talking about, but it sounds interesting. The next one to investigate wrongdoing in loudon county. Remember the covering up of the father who came and complained about his daughter that was raped, the 14 year old daughter, and then they reassigned the male student who raped again. Glenn youngkin is wasting no time. He is doing a full investigation into that. Now, maybe someone could explain to me why Glenn youngkin decided to dress like Leonardo DiCaprio from Django Unchained. I don't quite understand the wardrobe selection. I don't have Twitter any of that. Maybe the Internet has already figured that out, but it's a spitting image, almost identical. Next Glenn youngkin is saying Virginia's open for business, no more lockdowns, and now than a couple to prevent human trafficking and support provide support for survivors. And then finally, there is a commission to combat anti semitism and then finally, to withdraw from regional greenhouse gas initiative, which is to push back against the green energy lobby that Terry McAuliffe and governor Ralph northam and many others tried to institute in Virginia. What Glen youngkin told us day one should be a shot in the arm, it should be reinforced when it should be encouragement for all you parents out there. But he listened to you and not only did he say the right things on the campaign trail, but day one, he says mask mandates are done, critical race theory is done. I'm investigating loudon county. I'm going to crack down on this greenhouse gas green energy nonsense in Virginia. This is winning everybody, not just winning elections, but actually meaningfully and measurably improving the states that you live in. Glen youngkin was pressed about banning CRT in schools and he in a very articulate way, doubled down on it. Please.

One of the themes that we have been hitting here on the show is over the last calendar year from January of 2021 to today. You've seen the rise of the citizen and the fall of the regime. We have seen regular moms and dad show up to school board meetings across the country, get criminalized by the Department of Justice be called domestic terrorists, but it created this robust bottom up grassroots political movement that the ruling class and the people that run the country that want to turn you into serfs or subjects were totally surprised by. They were taken back. They couldn't quite comprehend why parents cared so much about their kids education. Now because of the lockdowns that society decided to enact as a response to the Chinese Fauci coronavirus, parents across the country for the first time decided to get engaged and get involved in school board, races and elections over the last year. This is part of the rise of the citizen. 2021 did not have many elections, but there was one in particular the start of the surface as a potential climax as a potential testing point of all these different political trends that we started to see in April and May and June of last year. Businessman Glenn youngkin was running for governor of Virginia. He was running up against Clinton operative and former governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe, and Glenn youngkin was down nearly double digits in the polls, 12 to 15 points, some polls had him down. It seemed as if Terry McAuliffe was going to have an easy waltz to the governorship. There was no questions asked and Republicans would lose yet again in the ever increasing blue state of Virginia. Of course, moms and dads rose up in record numbers. Loud and county was tighter than ever before. The strong conservative areas got behind and junkin was elected governor of Virginia. Now we celebrated that victory that night. We did a whole live stream that evening. It was a massive win against the regime. It was a win for parents, the parents party that has ever increasing and strengthening in numbers. It was a win for those of us that care for educational mobility and school choice, vouchers, and especially the fight against critical race theory. Now, in the weeks that followed, Glen, young Ken's election, there were a lot of articles that were suggesting that Glenn youngkin was going to go the way of Mitt Romney that he was going to go straight towards the middle. That glennon was going to betray his campaign promises and he said one thing on the trail, and he was going to do another. And honestly, I was starting to see a pattern that I had seen far too often amongst many politicians. And politician that will use the energy use the deciding factor of the conservative base to try to get political power and then completely discard them once he believes or she believes they have maximized their utility..

"How early voting helped Glen youngin and what it means for Republicans in the midterms. By Nick popli. Former president Donald Trump lost Virginia in 2020 by ten points after discouraging his own supporters nationwide from trusting the integrity of early voting. But Glenn youngkin won the state's governor's race last week in part by telling virginians to vote early. Now his victory is created a blueprint for other Republican candidates struggling with how to get early votes without alienating a base that believes Trump's claims of election fraud. Experts warn that Republicans need to break with the former president on early voting or else they risk losing their races. Candidates can not simply ignore a growing swath of voters who are interested in casting their ballots early, says Matt bayon, a Republican consultant to his advising a number of candidates in the midterm elections. They'd be ignoring those votes at their own peril. Many are hoping to learn from young kin strategy. He took 46% of all early in person votes, according to times calculation of precinct level returns. Young kin finished just 65,000 early in person votes behind democratic nominee Terry mcauliffe, a much closer margin than most experts predicted. The election result will be officially certified on November 15th. Trump was particularly critical of mail in and absentee voting, youngin got 24% of absentee ballots cast in the race. According to campaign strategists, youngin was able to make these strides because he encouraged early voting while retaining a base energized by election conspiracies. Young Ken held several rallies across the street from early polling locations, where he encouraged crowds of up to 400 supporters to walk in and vote. He invested $7.1 million in early vote messaging his campaign says texting supporters and knocking on doors to ask if they knew their early voting site or needed help requesting a mail in ballot. But he also campaigned with election integrity as a centerpiece of his platform. He offered supporters a membership card in his election integrity task force, held rallies with state senator Amanda Chase who spread numerous conspiracy theories about the January 6th riot at the capitol and supported an audit of Virginia's voting machines. Young Ken did not appear with Trump during the campaign, but the former president called on his supporters to vote for the GOP candidate. After young kin one, Trump released a statement saying I would like to thank my base for coming out in force and voting for Glenn youngkin, without you, he would not have been close to winning. Junkin walked a careful line, urging voters to get to the polls early while simultaneously stoking their fears about election integrity. We told voters who were skeptical to go and vote now, says Kristin Davison, a senior strategist for young kins campaign. The best way to ensure that this election is going to be saved is to go be a voter, and it really caught on Davison adds those two issues. Go hand in hand. Republican campaign experts say that's the same strategy other candidates should adopt in next year's midterm elections. You can easily ask for assurances that the person who is voting is indeed registered to vote in that district, and at the same time, call for a large number of people to vote either early in person or early by mail, says wit airs, a veteran GOP pollster from Virginia. Those are not inconsistent. But Republican candidates in other states may not be able to easily replicate young kins gains in early voting. In response to Trump's baseless claims of fraud, several states have enacted laws this year to limit access to the polls by groups that tend to vote for Democrats. That hasn't been the case in Virginia, where Democrats have sat in the governor's mansion since 2013. The Commonwealth expanded voting access established a 45 day window to vote early in person or by mail, and extended the hours and locations of early polling sites. The overall early voting total, close to 1.2 million ballots, was a record in Virginia, despite the off year election. Now, as governor of a state once seen as a democratic stronghold, young Ken will have the chance to enact new election policy, including his push to require photo identification in order to vote. Stricter election laws could make it harder for people to vote early. The same tactic that helped him win. Focusing on early votes used to be an important approach for the Republican Party. Until former president Barack Obama defeated the late senator John McCain in 2008 with a majority of early turnout. Ayers says Republicans had for years mastered the art of absentee ballots and early voting because they tend to do better among older demographics. Donald Trump blew up that strategy, he says, but Glen young can understood the advantage of banking votes early and ran a very effective campaign to get his supporters to vote early. That has traditionally been a Republican success story and it was for junk in 2021. Now the question is whether it will be for other Republicans in 2022..
