So when we talk about a dense fog advisory for the coastal areas or inland areas close to where we have these, that is good news that tells you there's an onshore push that tells you there's a semblance of a sea breeze and that helps to keep your temperatures relatively mild, and we're seeing that downtown 85 degrees 84 yesterday. That's the average so there is a sea breeze and it is extending to some of those I wouldn't call them some of those coastal valleys. It's just not strong enough to overtake the offshore flow. That's starting to set up. Think of it as a fan. So we have this airflow that's going from the inland areas out towards the coast, and we set that fans setting on low, so we start warming up some of these foothills. Then it goes to medium and it starts getting stronger until we really Put it on high, and that's what's going to happen and my point in saying this is because the stronger the airflow from the inland areas to the coast, the warmer the air is going to become so the high pressure strengthening. That's why our temperatures are going up. Now, when that higher pressure starts to dissipate, shrink a little bit move off towards the East. That's when the sea Breeze starts to overtake it. And then the cooler air moves in and that's what happens next week, so hang in there. It's kind of a give and take or going to be hot through the rest of the week. Could be one of those, really not the best forecast heading into the weekend because some of those valleys are going to be in the triple digits and stay there. But next week we should get back to the average. Stay there for more than a day or two, and we will get some relief. Now we do have some thunderstorms for the mountains and deserts. We need to mention that it does help to kick the temperatures down right because we get some cooler air. Associated Associated with the clouds, But we are going to get the chance of some thunderstorms and some flash flooding. I'm not saying that will happen, but that's always the possibility when we throw in these thunderstorms, and right now it looks like the low desert, which is the Coachella Valley High Desert Antelope Valley. Apple Valley Western valleys. You have a chance of thunderstorms, as well as our mountain communities as well next week promises to be much better. But I know Megan and Chris We don't want to wait until next week. No, we're like who was the one and Willy Wonka That just wanted it.

"Well, if you're in San Fernando heading westbound on the eighteen around San Fernando road watch out for a brushfire blocking the two right lanes. That has used slowing starting at Glen oaks boulevard also going on in Hollywood right now. Northbound one zero one before Hollywood Boulevard, we have a stalled vehicle that was taking up the left lane back from Melrose. Thanks so much cloud. Tonight. Lows in the fifties. Clouds and fog in graduate clearing tomorrow with highs around seventy at the beach. This is all things considered from NPR news. I'm Ari Shapiro. Audie cornish. High drug prices are a favourite topic among politicians from all parties prescription drug prices are out of control so much. The high cost prescription drugs is a huge problem. Things necessary to drive down the cost of drugs and a new lawsuit alleges prices of generic drugs are a higher than they should be because of an industry wide conspiracy to fix prices NPR's, Selena Simmons Duffin is here to explain they'll come to the studio. Thank you. What does this lawsuit? Say it's a Walker more than forty states are suing twenty companies the suit is over five hundred pages long. It was filed on Friday in the US district court in Connecticut, and that state's attorney general William Tong held a press conference today and gave a little personal anecdote. I have a little rose Atia. And so I take Dr. Cycling which a lot of people take every day, and I take one pill every day of Doxa cycling. Sixty minutes reported that over a one or two year period Doxa cycling shot up eight thousand percent. So the suit says this type of price Trump was coordinated across competing manufacturers. Sometimes one company would decide to raise prices on a particular drug, and then the other companies would follow suit and other times one company was allowed to take a certain share of the market. So the suit alleges this type of thing has been happening for years and that companies would avoid creating evidence by making agreements on Gulf outings or girls night out or sending text messages. So what evidence do they have been? Well, the suit describes civil cooperating witnesses that were involved in the price-fixing. And then there are text message exchanges and phone call logs. So as an example from previous filing nice Staten, which is an antifungal tube of medication. It's been around since nineteen fifty four and there were three main drugmakers. And then the lawsuit alleges that executives began calling each other in two thousand thirteen and twenty fourteen and so two nights Dutton was available in twenty eleven for nine dollars and fifteen cents and in twenty fourteen it cost one hundred and three dollars eighty eight cents of consumers been seeing these price jumps at the pharmacy. It kind of depends if you don't have insurance, you're definitely gonna see the price jump because you're paying everything but Stacey do set Zena. Who's a professor at Vanderbilt who studies drug pricing says that even with insurance people can feel the impact more people than ever before are paying based on the price of the drugs. So that means that they're paying deductible where they pay full price until they reach a certain level of spending or they pay a percentage of the drugs price, we call that a co insurance. But even if you only pay a co pay like five dollars for every prescription if your insurance company is paying more for prescription drugs. They're gonna pass those costs on with higher premiums. So she says that what this lawsuit alleges is really disappointing that consumers put up with a high price of branded drugs because of the promise that generic is coming and it's going to bring the price down. But that doesn't happen automatically relies on competition and market forces. And she says if there's only one generic that drugmaker can put the price at pretty much the same as the brand name, and you really need more companies in the market to see those prices go down, what do drug say about all this the main one in the suit is Teva, which is an Israeli company. Teva spokesperson sent me a statement that they're reviewing the allegations internally that the company quote has not engaged in any conduct that would lead to civil or criminal liability. The company has also said basically, there's nothing new here. It's true that this is similar to pass lawsuits. Although this is very thorough in Connecticut. Attorney general William Tong has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and given the amount of political appetite. There is to bring prices down. There are more lawsuits. To come. That's NPR's, Selena Simmons Duffin. Thanks for your reporting. Thank you. For generations. The CIA use discretion when recruiting staff there was word of mouth a tap on the shoulder. But, but but the ingredients were fresh like that that is something that you can tell I think they've improved that at del taco in recent years, the fresher, avocado, fresher, fresher cheese, fresher tomatoes. So I liked it. I enjoyed it. Was it was it was it was pretty good. Nick the burrito. I got you may notice it you may notice the name of it an epic case. Oh, chicken burrito. How that's right epic. Go with the news on KCRW at ten minutes to seven this is all things considered from NPR news. I'm Ari Shapiro. And I'm Mary Louise Kelley we journalists spend a lot of time on Twitter a lot along the way we come across a lot of snark occasional poignancy and once in a blue moon utter hilarity as in a thread of tweets by writer and one time child. Actress Quinn Cummings gather round, gentle waiters. It is time. I tell the story of the worst decision I have ever made in an office across twenty-five tweets coming spins the story of a difficult boss with a wounded ego and a solution actor Brian Dennehy hatched which required a publicity shot of said, boss the door opened. I swear to you even the phones stopped ringing for a second. Susan inhaled. Ho. She screamed gave Brian a picture of my mouth that that is right. She managed to give him a picture of her bosses. Mom. Well, her boss was not happy as you heard. But on Twitter people love the story. It's been re tweeted I just checked a little under eighteen thousand times somebody tweeted that they had seen death of a salesman on Broadway in that. This story was almost as dramatic that tweet was from Lin Manuel. Miranda. It is possible to joy faint. I now know so Quinn Cummings decided to write more small stories like that one a departure from her usual work, and from the usual thing you come across on social media. I spend a lot of time writing jokes about politics. It's been good for my career. I've ended up doing some ghost writing. I've written political jokes for other people. This is fantastic. But what I can also do is remind people that life is not just politics. I started to think of my stories as a chance to be human again, you can hear about my complaining about the local grocery store, which is a Fellini film or getting the dog to the vet. I tried to make them very ordinary. It's it's a respite you might be the first person I've ever interviewed to describe Twitter as a respite from political craziness. We are living through. You know when everyone else is making us egg. So for the most part, they're funny. But I do write about the fact that my mother was an emotionally manipulative narcissist. You might be staggered at the amount of people who write to me, privately and say, I can't tell that story because mine is still alive or I can't write the story because mine died, but my family will yell at me for speaking ill of the dead. But thank you for writing this because you make me feel better. And does it feel as though you're trivializing really important stuff in any way by breaking them down into a series of tweets? That's a really good question. My answer is if you feel that a trivializes it feel free to follow me. I wasn't suggesting that at all. No, no, no, no, no, no Twitter gets so much criticism for being a place where people just fire off whatever random thought pops into their head. It's it's a hard place to work or something like your mom, dying that came out more. Abrupt than I meant for it to what I'm saying is it is a relatively new artform, medium, whatever it is you want to call it and people are figuring out what they like their if what I do makes people uncomfortable. I totally understand. I'm not going to change. Do you write the whole tweet threat out in advance? Then break it up into tweets. Yes. I'm very careful about how I constructed there are certain sentences. I want to be by themselves because they're a joke line. If I structure it new certain way on piecing. How you read it? It's important to me that I do this right because I have people now supporting this underwriting it on patriot. Explain what patriotic patron is the equivalent of a tip jar. You can reach out to your supporters and say would you be interested in giving me a dollar a month? And then one. Dollar is taken off your credit card every month. It's fascinating hearing you describe the effort to figure out a business model here, you're a professional writer, you deserve to get paid for. What you write? None of us have figured out. How to do that on Twitter? I got a kid in a liberal arts college. And even as a vegetarian those lentils add up. If I'm not white knuckling every month. It's a lot easier to write better jokes to you. Eventually if you're trying to make a living here have to figure out a way to tell these small stories on a bigger stage. She was the sing if I write an essay now, and I say here I've written it over on medium. Just click over and read it. The odds are low that they will click if I can figure out in this time of great change how to be adaptive and a little creative. I can wait and see where my opportunities are writer Quinn Cummings talking to us about the small stories. She Sarah's on her Twitter feed. Thanks so much.
