"This is what they do based upon this like in-house preliminary preclinical data they make some kind of a strange claim right this is all curcumin right and two. This is all. Of again, like Cyberia whatever it's the guy who's who's owning this our manufacturing or whatever is just fanning ever go to the FDA to get some kind of official approval as Iraq and he's just going to go the dietary probably route problems. You guys see the mypillow go ahead. Yeah. What is what a sleazebag were? Tell me about that. Would not let him. Yeah. He ripped him anew him. He was based. He actually basically said like you're not a scientist you have no credentials you stand to make money off of this. How are you any different from a snake oil salesman like he asked him that on air which response was it was a gish gallop of the typical respond. Great I'm saving lives over here I'm just you don't want to save lives. I don't list for the glory of Jesus. Yeah this I'm just doing what Jesus tells me to do. So he just Justice. Over this guy is right out of a patent medicine wagons selling snake oil one hundred and fifty years ago. That's exactly what this guy was stepping. Strive exact. Version of that, just the Monitor's just a steak oil barker. Guy. But he's got the ear of our president and that's why it's news but I think it does reveal the scam that is the supplement industry in this country and the you know the the completely dysfunctional regulatory framework that we have in place because every any scientists looking at this knows like yet the probability that this thing is going to turn into a useful drug based upon what we know at this point in time is. You'll it's miniscule. Chances are most of the time you have to tweak it chemically right there's. Drugs have to have a suite of features in order to be useful clinically, and we've already picked all the low hanging fruit. You know pretty much. In order to bring a any kind of molecule over the finish line to a useful drug, a safe and effective drug, it's going to have to be chemically tweaked. There's a whole industry of scientists whose job it is to figure out how to do that. If you're gonNA, take an extract of poison known toxic plant and you think that you're gonNA that's GONNA translate immediately into a useful drug without any alterations and without doing clinical trials etcetera that is. Ability of that is eight Equa Treasury thinking wrinkles. so saying it's terrible. All right. Let's move on think I'd be dead Horse Jay can we get to the Moon in in the Dragon Capsules in space spacex dragon capsules well, that that is a really interesting question something that I thought about independently because I think a lot about space travel. So what are we know SPACEX has been having a lot of fantastic successes over the past few years. The best thing that they did was they that the demo to mission that successfully brought to astronauts to the International Space Station, and then brought them back home. It was from my information pretty much a flawless mission The design of the command module to the spacesuits everything was was really cool looking modern. The latest and greatest technology they had been making technological advancements on the Dragon Capsule from the moment they I designed it to the to the second it was being used. It's just a technological feat, and then you know all the other technology that they develop their launch system everything. But even with all this recent technological advancements, we're still pretty far away from the technology that we need to send people to the moon I mean we don't we have it in incite sight, but we don't have it built yet all of it and that's the problem. Now Time of course is always a factor but the real thing here is is the US government willing to spend the huge amount of. Money that's going to take to get us to the point where we have all of these different pieces of technology. In place you know with other considerations, of course, because we're safety standards and all sorts of different things go into this, but it really does boil down to the approval of money and the government makes makes monetary budgets, approves money they they come with stipulations and you know there are stipulations like NASA, some people in the US government thing that NASA should be really in charge of all the bills, all of the components. So as a cost saving measure, some people are saying, Hey, go with a smaller command module because the Orion module that's proposed for the artists moon. Mission, the manned moon mission it's a big module. It's a big space craft and it has a ton of equipment on board. It's got a ton of safety mechanisms on board that means it's big and it's heavy. So it's been made clear that the expectation by the US government is that the next lunar mission must use the Orion command module and it must also be launched on the space launch system the S. L. S. system, the launch system that that the US government has produced through NASA. Still some of the technology required is being farmed out to several outside contractors in this means that a workable balance has been struck between NASA built versus private built components the question is. Can we make the deadline and if we can what technology do we need to make the deadline? One big concern like I said is the way of the Orion spacecraft. It's just big and heavy, which means more fuel is going to be needed to get it into low earth orbit, and then you know it's got to go all the way to the moon. It's got it's got to do all the maneuvering it.

"Here's how he starts. His most recent show Republicans brought up in the Senate a police reform bill and the police reform bill didn't give Democrats everything they wanted. For example, it did not outright. Ban Choke chokehold. It said that departments has to take a look at chokehold and decide how they would be applied, and the federal government would make its funding contingent on particular procedures. Put in place with regard to. To choke, hold now. They're a bunch of Democrats who think the chokehold should outright ban because either they are mischaracterizing what a chokehold is. There's a difference between a chokehold and a and a mission hall, or they're trying to deprive law enforcement of a tool, the sometimes require in order to make a situation more quiescence. Okay, hold on so right there the difference with a choke hold and a submission hold. What is he talking about? I know he's hinted at being a part of Brazilian Jujitsu. I have to. You know that some submission is called. It's called a rear naked choke. You're squeezing the carotid arteries of someone to reduce the oxygen flow to their brain, so yeah, if you have your bicep on the right carotid artery in your forearm, pressing into the left side. If you, do it properly it safe. The problem is most police. Officers are not trained to do it properly. You can watch the training. You can see them fight people in public I, personally have been a Ju. jitsu Jim where cops come to fight. They do not understand the actual and breakdowns of Brazilian Jujitsu on how to properly apply a rear naked choke. They don't do it correctly. They will crush your larynx. They stop your breathing. That's not what choke is supposed to do. Okay, and let's be clear. Clear to that. That <hes> I think just stopping. The colts is also misguided even on the Democrat side I think it's misguided I think it needs to talk about bodyweight on. Someone's back the ability to breathe while you're leaning on. Someone's back as fixation we need. We need to ban all sorts of things like that, but I don't think it's fair to say that. They're mischaracterizing a chokehold from being a submission hold because nobody's preventing cops from putting someone in an arm bar. Let's be clear about that. That as opposed to being forced to use deadly force in a case where somebody is resisting, arrest me, and this is really one of the instances in which officers you see, an officer and the officer is trying to put somebody into submission. Hold read they're trying to. They're trying to deprive oxygen to the brain, not the personnel, or at least put the person and more quiet than state. The alternative to that is the person continuing to thrash around struggle. Maybe grabbed. The officer's got bent so often talks in. In absolutes he is so black or white absolutes. You're going to hear him today. Say things like every single time. It's not true all they want. It's not true. These these are Straw man after Straw man after Straw man of the Democratic position and I WANNA. Be Clear I'm not a registered. Democrat I'm an independent I consider myself a liberal I, don't I don't say I'm a leftist and I'm certainly not on the right and here lately. I can't even say have even been in the center I'm. Left of center, but I'm a liberal if you have any of credibility. You should pay attention to rappaport rules, and if you don't know what that is, look up Dan Dan. It read his books and or Google rappaport rules, and the very core of reports rules are. If you don't fully understand someone else's argument, you're not yet ready to create an argument against him. You should be. You should be able to state their argument back to them in a way that they say. Wow, yes, that's the way I feel and I. Wish I would put it that way once you can do that to someone then you're willing to make an argument against them. But these blind strokes of of all and and absolutes are just crazy, and that's not the alternative. Ben If you walk into a situation assuming I either have to choke you or shoot you because I'm an occupying force here to make the streets. then. Yeah, you're going to be violent. Either way these yeah, the choke holds pretty. Damn Nice when you put it that way. That shouldn't be the cops job.

"During a through a lot phrase around book that's what is meanwhile Michael Gov is Dunis thing and he's probably I took the throne as all the pieces are in place and he just has to pick his moment. So we'll see what happens there. So we've had the Boris Bridge Idea. Resurfacing only to be blasted out the water because over a million tons of conventional chemical and radiological weapons and waste dumped directly underneath. Its plan foundations it. Both sides died. So no-one inspects it. No one monitors what could possibly possibly go wrong seriously. Right a further distraction from the Cabinet News in subsequent picking apart the corona virus. So if you believe. The tabloids were both panicking and looking down airports as per the daily Heil and not doing enough to prevent the spread. So which is it all we panic and too much or are we not doing too much. So this is classics of Misdirection obfuscation. There's loads of Competing opinions going on in the media and it's basically just setting you wolf edge. It's it's it's there to make you ensure an unsettled. Nothing what I would do And what have been doing for the last few days actually is is tweeting. An actual official map of the corona virus spread It's fed with data from very reputable organizations such as the World Health Organization and CDC IN THE EUROPEAN CDC. You can see in track the spread of disease yourself to get up to date information and also there are some advice. I linked to. I will link into the show notes as well from the World Health Organization about steps. You can take to actually prevent any infection. I think brings us onto our second to last piece which is all penalty but peace and this is about a chap or a person cooled colleen Browning who tweeted yesterday the day before basically saying the following short a picture anyway of a massive Q at She airport in Amsterdam. He quotes absolutely disgusting services. She airport fifty five minutes. We have stood in the immigration queue. This isn't the brakes. I voted for free. Now as you can imagine twitchell and up Sri Lanka's without post it was due to stuff results problems it wasn't due to actual brexit not doesn't happen until and December this year but even so you have to get used to the fact that there will be changes at borders. It's not Collins Fault you know. He basically was. I the Fed the wrong information or fed sufficiently wrong information to make misunderstand what things would be like and voted accordingly unlike twice for the remains a lot of people. Saying what we've made. The you know the morally correct choice Milazzo stuff. We'll find not might be so. I think both sides need to start piling on on each other on twitter and same tools. So told you so because that is just never going to get us anywhere and it's just going to carry on carry on carry on and is going to be just a a division that can be taken advantage off If we do want to seek any form of strong government which is genuinely for the people then People have to understand what it is that they want which is not an authoritarian regime or anything like that but they want something that gives them a sense of comfort around social security and all of those good things before do disappear off. I'll introduce you something which I only recently found out about and I wasn't really sure existed at all up at something cold gish. Gallop now eyebrows raise or that. What's what's Gish Gallop? Apparently it's about debating a debate. I'll just read out. An exit from from wikipedia is probably easier June gish. Gallop debater confronts an opponent with a rapid series of many species arguments. Half truths a misrepresentations in a short space of time. Which makes it impossible for the opponent to refute all of them within the form of a formal debate in practice. Each point raced by the Gish. Galloper takes considerably more time to refute a fact check than it did to date in the first place this technique with time a. May cast out on the opponent's debating ability for an audience unfamiliar with the technique especially if new independent fact checking is involved or if the audience has limited knowledge of the toughest topics now. How many times have you heard someone go on and rent on and on and on and on on these TV debates especially prior to the general election and seemingly make so many points only for it to be not challenged and not simply because the debate has moved on so those points are? I O must be that wasn't challenged so I guess what you need to do is watch out for this if you like. I'm not telling you to do anything. Do whatever you want but I'm going to look out for this and I'm going to see who does it more often. I'M GONNA see. Lets them off for it? More often which I think is quite interesting so dabble an as a technique to counter that. Basically you stop them at the first point and just say well we will hold on so thing and let me just address this year and you get at the first point or you print them and put some conditions around. How many points they can actually stay up front. Join me next week when I'm sure we love a another bit of government implosion news followed by huge destruction in the press to take away from that and additional homework I'm GonNa give you right now. "More INFO podcast. I've got a whole Lotta stuff to go through this week. And hopefully you'll stick around to get to board I'M GONNA go through the Jamaican deportation piece going to talk about the cabinet reshuffle. I'm GonNa Mention E. R. G. And then I'm going to talk a little bit about the breakage corona virus and I'm GonNa leave you with something called Gish Gallop let's get started. Shall we saw earlier? In this week the Jamaican deportation flight left Britain with twenty five of the fifty s. O stopped because of a court order. The reason being had not given all they had not been given sufficient access to legal advice. And this was hampered you to a mobile must nearby not working properly. Seventeen did get deported behind. Hang on. I'm confused seventeen deported. Twenty five or so. Didn't how do the other aides where they anyway Orleans lot? Legally there are safeguards to prevent deportation in cases where the leave behind dependence. And if they are to be deported they must have been convicted of a serious crime so most right thinking people would generally be happy with US thing. Want to discuss all this behavior. However the caveat saw the just the decision ultimately resides with the secretary of state which sounds really peculiar in a British document. it sounds American almost but it does mean the home secretary and you can find that text in the UK borders and Immigration Act which of MP's including David. Lemme WHO's made some statements This week but he did actually vote this policy but as with most things like this. The devil is actually with the detail. School is in session. Sure you do the job by now. So the moral arguments around the factor foreign nationals subject to this and it seems in this case the cave across from Jamaica as children and had not registered for British citizenship for many reasons a couple op insight to dial that they steps to do so went automatic or made very easy on the other Criticisms that it was too expensive some would say fair enough you know. Just get on with it but others would say that making it difficult or expensive for the underprivileged is morally wrong and there's an argument in favor of thought linking this to the winter scandal according to the BBC that been calls for the government to suspend the fly until the report on the window scandal being published. Which is you know that kind of makes sense into all the facts. Wait until we understand what's going on. That's not make any hasty decisions just because we want to have a political win and delete drafted. The report said that the government should come to ending the deportation of foreign born offenders. Who came to the? Uk's children that we have the basically the the recommendations for changing the low however we seem to have one of the most rightwing right-wing governments in at the moment and I can only see slipping further towards the right. That's my personal opinion. My nope your opinion but I looked on this on social media as you do and basically comment to bound and basically there's a law of get them out good riddance. Which is you know not very nice on this another side which says we should apply this fairly on not at all. For example white people it should apply to those as well so send them back to countries been when they commit a crime and this reveals this widening chasm in the population that. Divide to something that I'll come back to us. Oppose all my guy so nature the week. We had the cabinet racial which was interesting. Let's see what that looks like. I've got some recordings here. Demonic Cummings seemed to have his previous was fulfilled. He's now basically got full control of the treasury as such e Javid resigned as Chancellor of the Exchequer just a month a month before the budget is Ju- and of course we've got this whole backdrop of brexit and the uncertainty around that nor will be vaguely surprised by this is a subject was considered largely to J- Anyway and one of the nicknames was Chino has in Chancellor in name only but he was on studies ground. But now that we've got this new person in Richie sooner back. I think he's just going to be a bit of a walkover and on one of the social media videos that Boris Johnson tweeted. Today used his grinning. Like a goon the table and it didn't give me a confidence that there was a serious person in charge of the nation's finances my opinion was he just a little bit like very excited to be there almost too excited in fact a big Giddy And you know that's that's a little bit dangerous. If you've got to stand your own ground I think so. Now there's no division. A toll between President Cummings on Prime Minister Johnson and the Chancellor Richie soon neck who is arguably promoted beyond his ability however is risen to the challenge already and ask colleagues in the cabinet the number ten cabinet no the E R G Caldera to shave off five percent from their budget so bear in mind. The current inflation rate is about one and a half percent thereabouts looking at the retail price index. At the minute it's around about three point three percent and that's projected to increase by foot to four point two percent by twenty twenty four. Not Go down yet obviously. Everyone indiscriminately as being asked to shave a five percent from that budgets. No thought just five percent of Wilson sold the appointment of a new attorney general swatter Braverman. She's the one who couldn't provide list of E. R. G. Members in an interview on Channel. Four yet she of course was a member and she was also the chair from twenty seventeen to twenty eighteen so she should know what it's all about so the concern in the social media in some of the press is her doing anything to aid any deportations weaken judicial palace in anything else to stay in the good books of the e. r. g. the algae if you didn't know as a right wing think tank supported by old it by the colts to release it spooks given that public funds are used its purpose was stated to promote rights of Santa values across the EU Sinc- Maastricht treaty was signed since then has been heavily criticized for its new direction so wikipedia quotes a story published on bt Dot Com news site on February fifteenth two thousand nineteen. The Press Association reported that critics accused of acting as a party within a party running. Its own whipping operation in support of its objective of a so cold hard brexit. They're already happy. This yard g group. I made a commitment to relieving since the December twenty nine thousand nine general election many conservative. Mp of since joined the group and given the previous criticism of aiming towards a hotline cliff edge no deal. I think that we shouldn't be surprised when we got that. It seems to be Already decided we've got a very weak cabinet in terms of experience and most of it is being filled with well some certain Yoji members. We probably have a lot. Who aren't certainly go visit. Mamba on Soa and who knows who else this might expert in the lack of visible trade talks. We'll see in March when the actual talks can begin us to win. You'll see the accounts of the Yaojie Group. Released will be the twelfth of Never. You're never going to see them. I don't think but aside from the Yaojie through even more mysterious figures an organization such as the wonderfully named Taxpayers Alliance and Matthew Elliott turns out to be dominant. Cummings boss which I know. Anyway all of these have well established if not fully understood right wing. Agendas mind you the. Pm OF NUMBER TEN. Boris he was on holiday in Mystique and with about fifteen thousand pound so might be a story that seriously right. Don't worry though the. Pm is firmly in control and Brexit is over and ready. Just about done honey. I'm just like those awful corporate meetings where you have to align the number ten cabinet all slavishly repeat the Lions by the Ford newhall spells fifty thousand PA fifty thousand more nurses twenty thousand police maybe to get a pound handle. Maybe keep the jobs. Many hospitals are we got a bill. Okay you also. How many more police officers recruiting right? How many nurses will necessarily recruiting fifty thousand exactly? How many buses thousand four thousand beautiful bouncing pretty soon bill low-carbon low-carbon so just to recap on that forty new hospitals are in fact upgrades of six existing hospitals. Fifty thousand more nurses includes nineteen thousand already in post. I'm twenty thousand. More police officers will replace twenty. One Thousand Accents Twenty ten. I think this cabinet choice misses the point either. Deliberately or knowingly the any organization to function effectively most allow challenge within itself it's a fundamental underpinning of democracy in government and inness cabinet. It's missing. It seems that there's a yes. Prime Minister Regime Which may be exactly what. Pm Johnson ones so he can get things. Don't but if you take that to. Its logical conclusion. You've got one person calling the shots. And that's an authoritarian dictatorship.

"President before four ever been that's brand new learners or or or Orleans of just just the stated no. We're going to oppose what the other party. I'm currently the Senate Minority Leader and I'm GonNa say this on the floor of the Senate and my name. Aim is niche. Yeah right wing evangelical have yeah is it. Is it the the Goldfish. That has the really short memory. Yeah seems like it It's it's I think it's a although I'm not sure that Goldfish flip flop as much in or out of water as the current Republican Party I'm also certain that gold vision capable of hypocrisy. Yeah well grammar more sunlight the Republican Party. Today Graham responded. Well I believe it's almost a demonic power. That is trying I would disagree Metaxas interrupted and and said it's not almost demonic. You know and I know that at the heart. It's a spiritual battle greed and laid out some of the economic success. The country has seen gene under trump. If you look at what the President Just for our country regardless of whether you're Republican or Democrat unemployment is the lowest in seven years more African Americans working more Latinos are working marines. Working more. Everybody are working okay. We have an economy that has just screaming forward. It's incredible parental economic prosperity benefits. Churches Graham said because Christians have more money to ties. Did you say that out loud. Apparently said that allow bad not end on again. If your entire ideology is things that are good for the church or good then saying you. Doing better is also good for the thing that you know. It just sounds absolutely bad to everyone not in the pews. Even people in the pews next door oftentimes find find that and Prosperity Gospels. Do they not get that there are they. They know when they're talking about culture war that there are aspects of culture that people care about new when it comes to politics and if they're winning the culture war in restoring all of that they not understand that people are upset because they don't want that to happen. They're just like well. It must be demons. Because everybody's rich Roy I then why do you care. You're about whatever it was sesame street or Arthur or whatever where they had a same sex wedding you're rich shut up like if that's if that's your argument is oh you must must be possessed by demons because you care about something other than money then this entire time when you've been carrying about things other than money what Ono were angels. Angels things to say. Please do don't let me rent the whole. I'll try hang I don't are you ready. Three of them go ahead. I could So yeah I mean we we we live in what has been referred to as a GIG economy Yeah and they alluded to earlier in the they may not have had that exact quote but they said in a different part because I watched the entire interview. Yeah the Guy said Oh no we were. The economy was a complete wreck three years ago. No one can deny that's just fell and and trump in fixed everything bullshit. Yeah okay that is not a fixed. We had things weren't you know it wasn't it wasn't a utopia. Uh We had good steady growth anywhere on any honest Economists will acknowledge them and any honest can economist will also acknowledged that a strong stock market does is not indicative of a better life for regular people. Right Bullshit the report that we have more people working part time we have more people working Jobs that are just APPs on their phone. So the the higher employment point number is don't necessarily mean anything in terms of you know people having a better life or making any more money necessarily. Yeah Yeah Lamb. Bucket sucks for most people. It does it every day. It's everyone's working and the markets they're doing well therefore things are good. I was like well. That's that's a relatively good indication for Non Human entities that we call legal corporations in this country right. Yeah for the tiny handful of people who are either Extremely heavily invested and know how to navigate that world old It's good for the one percent aptly yet. That's good news for them but for the overwhelming majority of us things aren't going well. No working multiple jobs. Higher Employment Number is not indicative of anything that you WANNA say. It is necessarily right our wages doing even. Then you know you got Companies like Amazon raising wages but also cutting hours so then they can say oh. Yeah everybody's got a fifteen dollar. Hey Roy and our paycheck but we cut hours and now because it's all about the bottom line and we have absolutely no oversight regulating us is that it has the best You know the the People's best interests at heart so and then then they don't have any real benefits because they're only working thirty somewhat hours a week this whole. There's so much wrong with this interview and it's it's Kinda hard it's a bit of a Gish Gallop and it's hard to kind of break it all down. I've forgotten most of it because I've gone on my rant. Yeah I just. It's just. They're provided the emotional reasoning with these ones is very strong. The their their religion gives them a framework through which to see the world and to feel you about things and then they do that with Gusto. They're rewarded with control of billions of dollars and payment in millions of dollars to continue to do that. Yeah and this is a very very interesting country. Because I'll be honest now. Oh Cardi B. Makes millions of dollars but Cardi B. Doesn't impose the same level of suffering as religious institutions hers. I think is at a reasonable level of suffering imposed upon the rest of us as just a cheap jab. But it's sort of it's just sort of fascinating fascinating right like in the in the old days when you had robber barons. They ran large companies. At least so short they went around and they about just how this has led me to replace because I was about to say the sentence shore they. They broke unions but I mean they did some shit right. Yeah but we have railroads across the country. Right yeah these guys. What for what the spiritual warfare burning stuff down? Who Cares? Yeah I also want to mention how incredibly incredibly infantile lazy the just the the mentality of if they're against us well obviously demonic possession. It's so lazy. Yeah it's the equivalent of. Oh she wouldn't go out with me. She's obviously a lesbian. Jesus edition irresponsible. Well is irresponsible does yeah. If they're not foolish if they don't agree with me if they don't toe the same line as me than ex Kalanick leases zest. Yeah there is no middle ground there is no nuance not enough for us. They're against yeah demons the ambulance yeah. It's pretty pathetic. Yep Oh God own what. Religion is.

That people are upset because they don't want that to happen. They're just like well. It must be demons. Because everybody's rich Roy I then. Why do you care about whatever it was Sesame Street? Arthur or whatever where they had a same sex wedding. You're rich shut up like if that's if that's your argument is oh. You must be possessed by demons because you care about something other than money then this entire time when you've been caring about things other than money what Ono were. Angels things to say please do. Don't let me rent the whole. I'll try to hang. I don't are you already. Three of them go ahead. I could up. So yeah I mean we we. We live in what Has Been referred to as a GIG. Economy Yeah and they looted too early earlier in the they may not have had that exact quote but they said in a different part because I watched the entire interview the Guy Said. Oh No we were. The economy was a complete wreck three years ago. No one can deny that's just fell and trump fixed everything bullshit. Yeah okay that is not a fixed we had things weren't you know was their own. It wasn't it wasn't a Utopian but we had good steady growth and any honest Economists will you know acknowledged them and any honest can economist will also acknowledged that a strong stock market does is not indicative of a better life for regular people nip. Right Bullshit. What purport there is? We have more people working part time. We have more people working Jobs that are just APPs on their phone. So the higher employment numbers don't necessarily mean anything in terms of you know people having a better life or making any more money necessarily lamb fucking sucks for most people. Does it worse every day? Don't have more money. It's everyone's working and the markets are doing well therefore things are good. Well THAT'S A. That's a relatively good indication for non human entities that we call legal corporations in this country. Right yeah for the tiny handful of people who are either extremely heavily invested and know how to navigate that world. It's good for the one percent deftly. Yeah that's good news for them but for the overwhelming majority of us. Things aren't going well. No working multiple jobs. Higher Employment Number is not indicative of anything that you want to say. It is necessarily right. How're wages doing even? Then you know on. Oh you got Companies like Amazon raising wages but also cutting hours. Then they can say oh. Yeah everybody's got fifteen dollar. Hey Roy and our paycheck but we cut ours and now because it's all about the bottom line and we have absolutely no oversight. Regulating us is that it has the best You know the the People's best interests at heart so and then then yeah. They don't have any real benefits because they're only working thirty hours a week. This whole so much wrong with this interview and it's it's kind of hard it's a bit of a Gish Gallop and it's hard to kind of break it all down I've forgotten most of it because I've gone my rant yeah I just it's just. They're provided the emotional reasoning with these ones is very strong and their their religion gives them a framework through which to see the world and to feel about things and then they do that with Gusto. They're rewarded with control of billions of dollars and payment in millions of dollars to continue to do that. Yeah and this is a very very interesting country because I'll be honest Cardi. B. Makes millions of dollars but Cardi B. Doesn't impose the same level of suffering as religious institutions hers. I think is at a reasonable level of suffering imposed upon the rest of us as just a cheap jab. But it's sort of. It's just sort of fascinating right like in the in the old days. When you had robber barons. They ran large companies. At least trae so short they went around and they just. Wow this has led me to replace. 'cause I was about to say the Senate's shore they. They broke unions but I mean they did some shit right. Yeah but we have railroads across the country right. Yeah these guys. What for what. The serously warfare burning stuff down who cares. Yeah I also WANNA mention how incredibly infantile really lazy the just the the mentality of if they're against US well obviously demonic. Possession is so lazy. Yeah it's the equivalent of. Oh she wouldn't go out with me. She's obviously a lesbian Jesus edition. I mean irresponsible is you're responsible does. Yeah if they're not foolish if they don't agree with me if they don't toe the same line as me than ex revlon zest yeah. There is no middle ground there is no nuance not enough for us. They're against us. Yeah demons the ambulance. Yeah Yeah. It's pretty pathetic. Yep Oh God own what? Religion is such a positive influence on the world zone. Good everything singing. Sometimes to snow. It's not enough. Yeah it it really does. It's in those moments like that pause where it's just like. What is the next thing you can say when about the sarcastic over religion such a positive thing in the world you know like religious institutions lobbying for capital punishment for Lgbt Q. Individuals. Overseas and doing so successfully I might add No no no look at the pretty buildings. Stained glass are you go? Maybe put something in a stained glass window other than Jesus and I'll spend more time on. Yeah see makes up for all the evil. It is really interesting because it would be easy to spin a counter narrative about the modern church in religious terms. So you could go back to the schism and just basically say that is when the seed of modern corruption was planted. Because it's when the Western church decided vet The you know Idolatry wow what is the adjective for idolatry idolatrous? Idolatrous thank you wow That was easy. Hi Hello Worse. I'll I'll contemplate this at the end of this quad Iran. I'm trying to build but the that that idolatrous images okay well you know no. It's okay you can have a pictures and you can have a statues you can have images and look at these large churches and you can have all of this It would be easy. You know I could. I went to a Saint Francis Middle School where Saint Francis was this super holy figure because he took all of his possessions solds Gave them away and then beg for money so that he could buy cobblestones so that he could build a church on a mountain and spread the word of God that way as an example of complete and utter self-sacrifice right And it wasn't about things that were expensive and it wasn't about things that were shiny and pretty and you could weave that into a larger narrative about how the United States basically either depending on how you defended invented celebrity culture. Amplified it how you can say. All the business of America is business as much as you want but in this day and age the business of America is show business that it's all about shiny things pretty pictures happy noises and giving ten percent of your income to a person that very clearly doesn't need it. How is this anything like stories that I was told as a child about what the church is opposed to do Roy? It's not and then you you. You preach that well you know but you believe they're supposed to be don't but yes. Yeah well. There was a lot of Jesus in there I mean. I'm sure that I'm sure that a large portion of the audience of the nonprofits Zoned out when I was like well. Why don't why isn't there a Christian movement arguing this Which is basically my question. 'cause it's because the people that look back for who what are the basis of my religion. What is the? What is the history of it? Let me draw spiritual wisdom there and a in fundamentalist churches talking about how the gays need to die. "Before him. That's brand new learners or or or Orleans of just just the stated no. We're going to oppose what the other party. I'm currently the Senate Minority Leader and I'm GonNa say this on the floor of the Senate and my name is niche. Yeah Right Wing Evangelical. Yeah is it. Is it the the Goldfish? That has the really short memory. Yeah seems like it. It's it's I think it's Of although I'm not sure that Goldfish flip flop as much in or out of water as the current. Republican Party I'm also certain that Gold Fisher capable of hypocrisy. Yeah well great. Unlike the Republican Party. Today Graham responded. Well I believe it's almost demonic power. That is trying. I would disagree. Metaxas interrupted and said it's not almost demonic. You know and I know that at the heart. It's a spiritual battle greed and laid out some of the economic success. The country has seen under trump. If you look at what the President Just for our country regardless of whether you're Republican or Democrat unemployment is the lowest in seven years more. African Americans are working. More Latinos are working more. Asians are working more. Everybody are working okay. We have an economy that has just screaming forward. It's incredible economic prosperity benefits churches. Graham said because Christians have more money to ties. Ooh Did you say that out loud. Apparently said that allow. It's a bad note to end on again. If your entire ideology is things that are good for the church or good then saying you. Doing better is also good for the thing. "Accommodate all of it. Oh why not right. Why not UH? Aw So if it's getting in the planet beginning bigger as well good Karimi. Is that why Pluto small we all of its mass bigger. Well I mean it's bigger on the inside so tartus so say hollow Earth with hell on the inside cool. I don't know man. The Earth is an oblate spheroid. Zeroed and it doesn't have held in the middle. So have you ever been there Jamie. No joy doc defeated. Have you ever been to France. No yeah well. He doesn't exist now. Either there's no Australia. There's well actually depending on who you ask. 'cause that theory was one that was thrown around in a conversation between on twitter. It's weird to say a conversation on twitter on a series of tweets about the same subject about flat earth versus. Like No. No No. It's not flat. That's a lie from the devil and then all the three other people's are no one. No No it's not God tells us it's flat. I'm like three of these people right. Kind of the description of the earth earth includes like a dome over the Earth. See All of actually think it's supposed to be square because it has corners. I don't know but the the Gordon Flatter No. I'm no let's not even go. You don't want to go to the flatter. Would knowledge people on the underside. We'll just fall Off We're all on the same side. It's a one sided. If the globe people on the underside will just fall out really. Yeah Yeah Ashley it's Oh all maybe there's lots of spy who is maybe. There's lots of spiders in Australia. Web People to the surface Internet now because is That actually that's that's kind of funny because like if you look at how spiders behave. They like to hide under rocks and Australia's on the bottom of the globe Aw that's so dumb even say it's like so what is down to two What is down? Can you person the says this about spiders. Please just tell me what down wind is down. Stop an upstart a center of the Earth. If it's down towards just the volume misunderstandings though. Oh then there isn't gravity. Well okay. There's a couple of competing there's no gravity it's all its density density not just Yeah I know they're on my God it's like there's no rainbows it's the refraction of light portraying colors like yes Thank you for describing effects of gravity and how they work and then refusing to say the word like other turn into flutter yeah so Louisi- because they share a lot in common the same way. They argue the same way they just hold onto the belief with both hands and will never let go cause Zykov. It's their identity. They feel special. And why is there a global conspiracy. Adenaur could be the lateral commission. Yeah I all right on a conversation of two people I'm not GonNa say where was But I heard them both saying. Oh yeah he was. It was the Bible that really convinced me. religion is in the Bible. Dat what convinced me in the flatter. I mean it is lot not wrong there. There's the Bible read the parts with slavery and genocide and then reconsider your position about whether or not this book is good regardless I guess through and you get their their model doesn't help them. Do anything predicted clips is so I can only assume they think any predictions about globe earth. That actually work are of the devil so I mean wrong fish islands and I'm I'm working on my flat. Earth Shattering here perspective. It's a fish islands. No one's ever been in space right I mean NASA controls the weather They could just put a nonfish lens on a weather balloon themselves. All the astronauts risking their lives to further further human knowledge. No they're all like shells theirs. God also flat earth and then like Oh we didn't go to the Moon mm-hmm yeah start to bump up against each other and some of the we didn't go to the moon stuff is like. Oh yeah and during the Cold War the United States and the US are participated just paid in the same global conspiracy that in launch nukes. Because they would hit the the dome they would hit the Dome and also they both said yes. The United States went to the moon even though they both knew it was false. Because you know that's how the Soviet Union where when they they dropped the die every space agency numeral now yeah the the under the auspices of the willow of NASA out. Oh you know what it is doesn't exist lied to by the Trans Dimensional. Now that say that they're gonNA be able to rule this world more likely. Make all of the people I've now brought in some Alex Jones. I after research people that are very very wrong about stuff in a in a very very radical way for trying to do and decided to share that career ends with all of you wake up people. Yeah this is how this is. How denominations get created this is how they religion in splinter off into other ones? My answer to the question is it's just you know to scare people into their religion. That's my you know I'll yeah. Yeah Yeah Yeah. It's it's basically he's a stick and heaven is the is the carrot and you know toe the line or you get the stadium. You WanNa do a Christian advocate version of hell. Yeah the purpose of L.. Do I have to now. Okay now. You're just better at the purpose of Like let me defend their point reality or just like Fi theocrat well we allow bladder tangent. Okay Yeah so oh actually God needs hell because In order to enact and fulfil his perfect justice us People in the next life. Their souls needs to be sorted. In a way that comports with his judgment so do fire fire brimstone so God created hell. Yeah God created everything you say. Br Bring it. I'll do I'll do the to cross examine this quasi AUSE I. I'm a Straw Christian. Get on ball it. It's all might makes right. Yeah well I mean it's because because or Yes it's it's interesting because you can use the same language if it as a cult member talking about your a cult leader that is used about the perfect Lord and Savior with justice and if it seems like they're wrong they're definitely right and my purpose is to Follow and obey them without question and this is what's going to bring about the best world and you know the the life after etc.. The problem is the the suggests that Satan is doing exactly what God wants it to. That's just how powerful God is so Satan isn't doing evil he is though no it's all part of the divine plan which can't be evil. Oh how can be doing is af forty five seven God creates the good and the evil. Will there you go. Yes Oh God land. Some of it is evil. God's plan is good and some of these evil now we've gotten down into the God. God is is immortal. Transcendent eternal and also Jesus so lazy I mean I you now I I didn't prepare. I was GONNA see how okay so. How many more minutes do I need to give you this and us? The Lazy of the answer is not your fault now. Yeah you're amazing you're answering directly as you could be on progress you know taking taking that stance it's okay. It's not your or fall into Tibet. In defense of Christians there are a lot better at Gish. Galloping on these young yeah yeah yeah and presenting it in. We're twisty with a lot of their a lot better at being dishonest. So there's also the no God didn't create evil. Ignore that part of the Bible which happens even with fundamentalists amazingly The that's only that was mostly sincere of just like I was surprised to learn like New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church preacher in this reading of the Bible. Go well okay. But I don't believe that part and then go on because it was a ball will make it to heaven or something did they. He said this he in the make America. Great again. I'll just I'll just now is like should on the Bible like how is this. How how no matter how tiny we say you? Don't get to pick and choose their careers. It's it's blatant man. Human brain did not start as perfectly logical and then D- slowly evolve irrational. Yeah this is why when someone says they're Christian engine it doesn't mean anything yeah because their belief can be anything. It's true to me I. I know that they're not a AH chain or a Hindu Jewish or you know I suppose practicing as a thousands somebody could have you know. Say they're Christian but believe everything a Muslim does. I don't know just there's the no no I'm I'm I'm a Christian but I'm more spiritual than religious starts signs parents who will I get asked i. There's there's a person that I know and I'm close with that will wear like you know. Here's a bible passage citation t shirts. Some of them dazzled sure because Jesus like shiny things That will then. It's like what what sign are you and I when I'm asked this particularly you know I always say I am a water monkey because astrologically I prefer the Chinese astrology. Because it's more interesting and complicated interlocking and there's more than twelve types of people people which is something that Western astrology doesn't get that and no one here uses it so I get to be the one that doesn't have the saw series this you you know what I am? I was born in the year. The monkey And the and water. There's to say Oh God here I go but any money anyway. They're like. Oh yeah you know. Oh you are. You're Gemini or Scorpio. Shouldn't you okay if you're really into the just judge my personality and tell me what you think him. I KINDA WANNA get the Bible passage passage that condemns wearing mixed fabrics on a shirt put on a on a yeah I was gonNA say poly poly. Did we talk about this. I talked about selling those no. Because that's a it's Leviticus nineteen eighteen. I think it's no tattoos. It's either nineteen or eighteen or twenty. I forget which one is killing. Have that and then you get an earing with the one that says. Don't pierce your skin and then you gotta get like some other things either an earring a necklace in gold. That's with the citation for gold stuff crit TRIFECTA affect It's it's great. You believe we're finally at a time though. You say that you say that like you wanted me to stop talking. "There was a bad one number of years ago in Minneapolis in the Smalley refugee population, because they bought in on on anti vacs rhetoric. The biggest outbreak right now is in New York in an orthodox Jewish community, and it's all getting imported in by people who are not vaccinated and it's spreading among people who are not vaccinated in small pockets of people, but then there's also the liberal white American, not quite hippie, but loves all natural everything that hate vaccines, because dirty unnatural toxins, and those kids are going to get it. Eventually with one of these outbreaks, and those are the people that are not going to be protected anymore in Washington state. Unfortunately, the group where this happened was an anti vacs religious group. And this Bill does not end religious exemptions which means this change in the law would not have changed. Thing they just have to change their wording. When they're objecting. If I recall the story. Yeah. Because religious exemptions are still are still allowed in Washington. This also means that it is more likely to fail in court because the current precedence on exemptions like that, is that if you have if you allow for religious exemptions, then you must allow for philosophical exemptions, because you shouldn't be giving religion that kind of preferential treatment, the legal framework in our country, has has shifted a bit in the courts, which means this would actually have more of a chance now to be upheld, because it's still granting religious privilege and really just privilege is in favor with the courts now I think that's a direct result of the judges that the Trump administration has been able to. Shoehorn in the hundreds of judges. Yeah. That really across the federal courts. Yeah. Really put as children, my spine. Yeah. Now what I hate is like the thing that I come up against a lot when I'm trying to be proactive, politically is generally, what my position is always difficult to explain, and it's so easy to like, bring up a well what about what about? And it takes be ten times longer to explain that. It knows for them to bring up five more inane in non issues when you're arguing from fear and paranoia it is far easier to one. It's a lot harder work and takes a lot more time to refute a bad claim than it does to make a bad claim. And they have a tendency to have a lot of bad claims to make. So while you're trying to refute one they'll throw four or five more at you that you have to refute it. You just can't. It is a strategy that has been well-developed. It's the Gish. Gallop gallop as. Yeah. That's what is called is from a Christian apologist, whose famous in debates for throwing out assertion, so fast that nobody could respond. And wind debates out of sure number of points that he made. And also, I, I learned about it as a tactic, that's often used in a YouTube series called the alt-right playbook, were, they mentioned it in one video Jimmy added in say as many as you can in the shortest amount of time. So that when your opponent tries to correct you it takes way more time to cover. Yep. So one group that that actually is trying to, to intervene in Washington to help. Parents with philosophical objections to get religious cover is a church sort of out of New Jersey that is using something called MS. They're labeling in America cure. MS stands for miracle mineral solution..

"We've talked a lot about the Gish gallop where it's like they make you use a lot of words to explain why what they're doing is wrong. And they just like us very few words to lie. And then you have to say a lot, and it gets complicated for like, the Muller report is four hundred pages. So like it takes a long time for people to read that. So when Barr says Trump never said to fire him, you never said those. Words, and then you look in the molar report, and you have Trump saying get rid of him. Call me when it's done. He should not be the special prosecutor anymore. Like, those are those three terms of necessarily gain but bar so bar is completely lying and his whole game. Is nobody's going to actually read this? So nobody's going to know that I'm lying, and it's fucking working approval is as high as it's been on the fivethirtyeight thing that is like a, you know brings together all the different polls. That's as high as it's been a long time. It's going. No collusion. They say disapprove, he's eighty. I mean, he's still at historically low points of. But like our than anybody except Carter was a past disturbing has like, hey, what the fun just garters come on put solar panels on building a house and just alone. But Neta prove he's lower than everybody except Carter and Carter was presiding over a historically bad economy. So it is shocking that he's as low as he is. But he's still moving in a direction that like you it seems like it should be the opposite. Like when historians look back, and they're like, okay. This Muller report came out and said all these crimes described them in very specific detail, and then his approval started going up like I just don't know how that's going to be explained other than just like they just bombarded people with bullshit yet. People don't care. I guess. Yeah. But also when you look at to we're. Also, an era where people like because of the nature of politics were not even willing to discuss impeachment or lease leadership in the house is not willing to take it seriously. And I think that's a luxury right because this presidency is already presented a number of existential threats for many groups of people in this country, except for the people who are really in charge of trying to impeach the president. When you look at their sort of the rights that are being restricted of people who are trying to immigrate into this country or two or few are a transgender person. If you're seeking an abortion. There are many things that are happening that on one hand if you are just some SIS gendered person, who's like, you know, has is very wealthy. And a person of means there's a lot of these issues that don't really touch you? So it's easy to be like wallets scene. But there are a lot of people who also look at this administration. Go this is the worst thing that ever happening to me, and we're having to balance these. If you're person of means, it doesn't what that what they're doing. Doesn't truly affect you. If you don't have means it affects you cross the board is there affecting the education system. They're affecting people collar transgender people. It's it's affecting just poor people yet. And I don't know how we flip that will get one hundred stand. That's the issue is they're taking everyone's money. Everyone's money. Yeah. But the strategy of still saying like, hey, you know, why you don't have the stuff you want? It's these Brown people still working still work. We've got to break through that dividing conquer strategy. They've always used and get past that, and they did a really good job of shutting down the occupy movement. Yeah. Like that was that's when I was like, oh, we're onto something here. And then they systematically shut that down beautifully because right yet a ride. He's people know about the one percent, I think the accuracy movement went down in my memory as like a weird thing of like hippies pooping in the street..

"Yeah. Lives up to the hype as do all products that we advertise on this show who check them out just found out untuckit. It's gonna be a sponsor on the show. I love that product. I was like the I had a conference call with them today. And they were like did you get your shirts? I said I already own your shirts. Like, this was not a hard sell for me when they said you wanted to advertise on the show. I just said absolutely already well-versed with your product. I own it. Absolutely. Love it. So anyway, free promo for untuckit where we going now. Let's talk about this was this where this go. Oh, the green deal. Okay. How do we wanna do this or you reading and I'm going to respond or what should we should? We do it. That's a good try attribution of resources here. All right. So let me load this up for you guys. So this guy's name is the guy's name is what Robert hawk Robert Hockett. This is a Forbes article. Now, I cannot number one. I can't believe that this. Guy has a job at Forbes. And number two. I can't believe that they ran this article. This is actually he wrote this article elsewhere and Forbes went out sought it. And and then and picked it up even worse, whoever the editor is needs to be fired at force because this is absolute garbage. It's a Forbes editor's picks. No, it's it's absolutely awful, which we will point out in pain staking detail here in a moment. And this is important because you need to understand what people number one it helps you in assessing arguments in the future. And number two helps you understand the the economy and business in a way that most people don't so was we start to as we start to break this these arguments down, and there are many you're one of the things that he does in order to confuse you and to prevent you from being able to attack his argument is that he makes so many different ones one right after the other that it's difficult for you to to to to get a hold of it. It's like, it's an argument. A fallacy called Gish gallop were you just inundate the person with all kinds of arguments and points, and so many so much that they can't reasonably respond all of it. And then you're like, well, you haven't responded all of its obviously. I'm right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Exactly. So we'll we're going to run through this. And essentially the the first couple of paragraphs will lay out kind of what his argument is. But he suggests ease explaining why we need this green new deal. Now, did you research at all what this actually entails and how much money it would cost to do this. Honestly, I didn't so Cortez has been out. This is Alexandria. Okay. Zeo Cortes has been out making all kinds of demands when he free healthcare for everybody and free college for everybody and his whole new green deal that they've got their promoting and all of it. I think that the healthcare alone is like thirty six trillion dollars or something that those are those are liberal estimates. And this would be I don't know how many trillions of dollars. They're suggesting this is, but we're gonna talk about the argument for why it's a good idea. And or why they say it's a good idea. And how argument is absolutely ridiculous. So I'll let Matt kick it off. And we'll just we'll stop and go as as we read Representative Alexandria Cossio Cortez's announcement of an ambitious new green green new deal initiative in congress has brought predictable and predictably silly call outs from conservative pundits. And scared politicians. How will we pay for it? They ask with pretend credulity, and what about debt want we raise taxes and will not crowd out the job, creators guy. So we gotta stop right there. Because right off the very beginning. He's setting up. So what are you saying is if you so now if you object to anything that he's about to say, you are number one your insincere number two? You're scared and number. You're silly. You're silly. Yeah. Because you clearly clearly the no one would come to this with a an ounce. Of legitimate concern, so dramatically this isn't journalism. No, this is advocacy. This is this is a pundit speaking in advocating force, which is not. There's nothing wrong with that. Forbes does that all the time. My argument is not that that that he's that..

"He's. Hello, john. Good morning children from the New York bureau. You win the tweet of the day. We get it Konya you love giant asses. Okay. Right. John. Yeah. That yesterday I have to say for just oh, see even Jamie thought, it was the most surreal day yet of the of this entire, you know. Sorry. Tanya at the White House and kid rock at the White House. No kid rock might actually run for Senate. So I promise if he does I will run against him after changing my name to Kidd caper, and this is my flesh can be your running mate. Can I be scissors scissors? No, I won't kid sister's face. Space. L scissors, scissors. I'm a lesbian. I know all about kids scissors wants to many clubs. It's just no, no. Many cuts. Yeah. I don't know what to say. Isn't it like so emblematic of how we got here in a way, here's the press covering this. And it just as I was saying at the top of the show, it really was just kind of sad. He's clearly so mentally ill. He's clearly being used. And it's just I I don't know. Meanwhile, we have this huge Saudi story going on we have people dying in a hurricane. I mean, how many more of these days? Do we need of how manifestly unfit? He is for the office as you know, I've just come to call this phenomena. What the fatigue acid sort of, you know. I mean, the judge Joe DR pardon was four hundred thirty seven what the ago? Yeah. This is gas lighting this is like a neverending stream of Gish galloping nonsense and lies malice that is meant to make us discourage is mentioned makers give up that it's meant to make us want to check you out at it's not working. It's depressing as a guest, you gotta remember. They only have power because they cheat Gorsuch was cheating. Cavanaugh was cheating voter ID laws cheating. Russian interference was cheating. Gerrymandering is cheating and electoral college demanded by slave owners cheating overwhelming majority of Americans reject their agenda from criminalizing abortion to the racist ineffective wall. And we have to keep that in mind and voting is all we got Charlie Pierce tweeted. I'm not kidding. We need a UN in lexin observer in Georgia the state not the country. Yeah. You know, what they're trying to do the state ta from is insane. Like any safe country would just look at this and say what kind of African dictator? Double talk giant is this where the Republican is actually in charge of making sure that black folks can't vote for the democrat. Yeah. Thank you. I'm John I have to I keep saying this is we have enough time to have enough outcry to try to fix as much as we can. I was telling people yesterday on the show go to North Dakota help native Americans get registered. Because of course, they're trying to make them jump through all kinds of hoops because they're a huge base for Heidi. Heitkamp right. Exactly. Right. I mean, God bless her. You know, look, this is the most damning part of all of this because I'd love to say, oh, screw Joe mansion. The worst. Oh me too. Is up by nine points. He didn't he wasn't gonna lose the race. If he voted did, the right thing, all these people, Joe Manchin, even even Jeff flake is using Colin Zabel flirt with doing the right thing. But they are monogamous with doing you convenient, and Heidi Heitkamp is an exception. She has very great. She could've played it safe in the case of mansion it's damning because you wanna vote against that. Yeah. But then you can't this is the coalition. You've got to have any this is why I if they wanna have Democrats who have opinions. We don't agree with. I understand why they're doing it. I don't wanna see antiabortion and climate science in the party. But if that helps protect unions if it helps protect Medicare helps protect anything, right? The biggest. And by the way, speaking of which I know fill in what do you call in Tennessee? Of course, has is losing some support because of his he saying he would have voted for cabinet because of course, he's trying to win in a deep red state. But again that seat is absolutely critical to Democrats taking back the Senate. Right. So, you know, it's a once again, I will say Bill Kristol's, right? And you need to do. Whatever Taylor swift says. Because this is where. Wow. Taylor swift either shutdowns four of my racist fourteen pages that was so upset. I really thought I had her pegged. Welcome to the party Taylor. And by the way, Bill Kristol do me a favor. Will you asked him as Kentucky berbie could vote against that? Because when it comes to people have been wrong about you are just the latest in a long line of things. Bill Kristol's been wrong about a congratulations. You waited about. Yeah. This is how surreal we've gotten president directly accused Hillary Clinton engaging in it because the spiracy with Russia to affect the twenty sixteen election during a rally in Pennsylvania this week. You said not just ally. But about someone so diabolical they would conspire with a foreign power to lose. I think even Hillary couldn't help herself from commenting on Twitter. She said seriously, you asked to hack my Email on live television. This is what they do. Because all the base needs. All listen to base doesn't care. Okay. At this point. They have four fidget any kind of morality all republicanism all conservativism. Now in America is owning lips. If it upsets progressives of minorities, moral educated people in foreign people, then that's what we stand for. Right. So like, you can say, oh, Saddam Hussein didn't have any WMD's. And then a Republican will just say, no, he shifted out of the country before we invaded. And they'll all say, okay. Let works for me. That's a good enough Bs excuse it. It's like, wait. So his plan was to get killed the whole time. They don't care second. Listen to Susan Collins. Well, I think Dr Blasi Ford was lying. I think he was telling the truth she really was assaulted, but I know better than her who it was that assaulted her need to here. Yeah. It was anybody, but this drunk that we just nominated for the supreme court. It's we don't care who it is. But it's definitely not that guy. There you go. Thank you, John. Know as you said comedians keep having to update their Trump material, but Trump number upstate updates his Trump material it is not fair. And yet you are doing some of the most brilliant work of delight sir on the stages of sexy liberal show on your radio show. And are we going to see you in studio? 'cause you're we're doing a panel together at politic. You'll be seeing me. Yeah. Yeah. We agree. I did a great show last night at the ninety second street y in New York with Lewis black. Allen's wife, Ellen Suzanne Phan, onstage engineers together just talking with so much fun. But yeah, lying meetings and chairs getting coffee, that's kind of it. Yeah. Comedian and cheers getting hemorrhoids. Debbie's flying out this weekend. I'm doing special for siriusxm next week with a very famous Australian billionaire who is not Rupert Murdoch. But I'm not allowed to tell us name. I'm just allowed to say that much and I'll be doing buddy. I tell you. I'm doing a show on called. Thank God for Trump. It's all right wing Christians who loved Trump like like their bible is and revelations duct tape to a left behind book. Mistakenly invited media on this panel with Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson and let me tell you. You're a black man who hates black people. There's a right wing white man who will put you on TV. Yesterday. Doesn't surprise me Kong and Trump or the same race. You know what I'm saying? They are the same ethnicity ethnicity is celebrity Kong as more in common with Trump and anybody in Chicago at the screen, and you, you know, I'd say more, but I don't wanna insult bipolar people. Yeah. There you go. Exactly. So Chicago October twenty seventh sold out. W. Has a few tickets Margaret show joining John and I on stage and Representative Jan Schakowsky. Watergate prosecutor, Jill wine banks, and then the big one. Bam. John eagles saying a Ted lose. Joining us later on the show today. Ted lieu will be on panel. Adam Schiff Martin sheen rob Reiner again, Margaret show, and John saying gracing, the stage the November third very. The party of the year, you're on the west coast. Get your tickets now get to the Savan going to have such a party election, Ellen has we know Eliza Milano has to she's going to Michigan to get out the vote, which we are. We are happy to sacrifice her for the LA show. But we have another big surprise still to be announced for LA. So stay tuned for that. Yes. I'm very excited about the brief scratchy candidates, but it's to be great and Stephanie. I look for I'm starting to drink now. Disliking Matthew fantastic. Good job seriously weight. And I wanted to know like Stephanie cereal killed in DC. I love your whole said, oh, I can't wait to see what you do next. It was such. I love your point. Thank you. It's a nice nice sat. It's it's so important at this point not just to get out the vote, not to use ridicule the use facts, but also can unity. It's a good feeling to be in a theater full of other people who have not rejected intelligence and decency. Yup. And to like minded humans to sexy. Liberal causes in LA, John not just Tom Steiner need to impeach dot com. Also need to vote but flip the fourteen dot com. Which is about all about flipping the fourteen congressional seats blew out here in California. So that's exciting. Yeah. So we can't wait daddy. Fly to me. Fly to me. Daddy. I can't wait to see. You can't wait to CLYDE. There is going to be great. And there's a lot we have to do the work is only getting and, you know, the only thing that works is voting Democrats kicking their butts every day they're in office and not getting complacent so happy to go to the next phase of it. Because hey, I'd rather fight for a decent society than ashes. Exactly fly that giant set out to mommy. You don't have to put it in the overhead. Do you? Oh, my Chuck. It actually large kerryon really awkward yet of sets the air marshals. Okay. Love you. Bye. See you John Hagel saying there? He goes forty six minutes after the hour. This portion of the Stephanie Miller show brought to you by MyTravel SuperBeets. Right. I gave you gave. Right. Gotta lotta stand up comedian friends travel pack. It's fantastic for the road. I feel like I'm Dosen better right now. Yeah. Better energy, better stamina, better heart, health, better circulation. Nitric oxide, that's it. It's the bodies miracle molecule I started the tour with junk Bill saying in nineteen forty two in the Catskills. I believe I was making a lot of nitric oxide. Then now not so much. Six forty years old house the Thomas weeds. Well, listen, I was a child star in the cabinet legend Carol Burnett. Can't be wrong. Yeah. That's right SuperBeets. "Joining us now is Sean Carroll, Sean, welcome back to the skeptics guide. Thanks teabag. So Sean, you are my debate partner and I want to remind everybody that we are one and, oh, baby undefeated undefeated I remember that debate. Who did you debate? We debated Eboni Alexander and the author of life after life. I forget his name in a debate about life after death in this was for the intelligence squared debates, moody, Rick, moody, yet you're correct. Yeah, Rick, moody. That was a lot of fun was that was two years a few years ago, four years ago, I think for years. Oh, Evan. Sanders. The guy who did the all the time magazine cover. He wrote the book about evidence of. Proof of something having life proven having. Having book so better than ours. But we won the debate. Floor with them. To be honest with you, structured debates are work. Well, unstructured debates don't because you get overwhelmed with the Gish gallop. But if you have any kind of structure to it, where there's any kind of ways of holding people accountable for the nonsense that these. You. And June have to not only your side of the debate. You have to know the other side of the bait of the debate to take you reasonably well. But the great thing about intelligence squared is that they take vote before and after. So there's an objective criterion by which you can say, we won the debate right changed more minds than they did. And now we should tell our audience when you're pretty well known, but we just, you know, should as a formality. You are an astrophysicist, correct. And the physicists not very much Astro, but yeah. Visist theoretical physicist at Caltech, and I write books and appear on the internet right. Goodbye. Part of the reason why you're joining us today is because you've just launched a new podcast Sean Carroll's Mindscape which is listening to it's very good. I'm trying it. Well, thank you. That's great. Yeah, it's been a wonderful experience been on many podcasts in cluding this one, and of course had thought for a long time about whether or not be fun to do, but it sounded like work and it is worth a little bit, but you know, alternately what pushed me over the edge was the idea that I would get to talk to people who are not just scientists. I can talk to physicist all the time, and I talk about physics all the time, and I love doing that. But I also love talking about other people other things to other people. And now I have a license to do it. I can't really say, oh yes, you're world famous person about this, but I have a podcast, please let me talk to you for an hour and that's thing. Yeah, that's true. I mean, that's been one of the fun things about doing this show is we get to talk to people like you or just other scientists or just in. Interesting people and they're willing to talk to us because we're recording and publishing on the internet. Also, Sean, I don't know if you remember, but my my other podcasts talk nerdy, you were episode four. So really early on in the process. I just looked March twenty fourth twenty fourteen. And even back then you were saying it'd be cool to do. I just said, you know, delivered about it. But yeah. Cares podcast. I've been on some big ones. Joe Rogan was on again the last week and it's just it's fun. And I, I guess the other thing was I wasn't really podcast listener myself back in the day, even though appear to other people's podcasts out. Increasingly, I started listening and apparently the kids today they listen to podcasts. So. Completely different audience that I had before you said dot c, I. I. Sean, I mean you've done TV experience TV experiences. That's a weird way to put it. You've yes, you've been on TV plenty of times you've done kind of the traditional media stuff where you're expected to speak in like pithy soundbites, but isn't it great when you do long form podcasting, how you can just get deep into the nuance. Fantastic. And I was a little worried I very first started out that might be hard to fill our problem. Yeah. We had concern the first time we did a twenty four hour show and it it's remarkably easy to fill time part stay awake though. It's hard to say, but yeah, that's challenge. Yeah..

"It's not just isolated to these like large swaths of wild like wilderness where there's a bunch of like foliage that's going to combust and things like that. It's like moving into places where people live and now and it's just the evolution of it is is very frightening and yet to know that soon enough, we're like in a world where like our plan. Means can't cope with, right? Yeah. And our car batteries are just dying because it's too like the atmospheric temperatures. Never heard of that before. The battery is being too stressed by the heat just sitting there. Yeah, what Trump I like that Trump doesn't use the same argument. He uses when it's cold, you know, so cold out, where's where's global warming when you need it and like, you know that logic, whatever, that's not how global warming works. But you know, technically, in that sense where why is he not talking about it now where it's like it's so hot outside. I guess it's global warming. You know what I mean? It would be the same logic is explanation is that environmentalists have made certain water off limits for putting the fires out. It's called and it's like one of those arguments. It's the Gish gallop that Andrew t one of our guests talks about where people say something that's so stupid and have like twenty things wrong with it that it just exhausts you two point all of them out like other, they people don't use water to put fires out really. The size. This never happened. They have all the water. They need all these different things. But yeah, so I, it's almost like not worth arguing at this point because the facts are fucking right there right now. And he knows that it's not about whether he knows it or not. There was some article or he was a comedian, somebody was pointing, I'd like probably eventually when it begins threatening golf course infrastructure when he'll actually like, oh shit, what the fuck is going on. It just killed the fairway. Yeah, just build like an indoor space though. We know it's just. And this year. The fossil fuel companies were the first ones to know about this. They were studying it back in the eighties. They were like, oh shit, the fuck up about it. So they just figured out what their argument was going to be against it or like a bunch of coping mechanisms to help them sleep at night. I think it's something to do with bearing yourself under just giant piles of cash and insulated. Yeah, and that's that's how they get by. But yeah, we're not gonna convince them of anything new when they knew about this like ten years before anyone else. All right. We're gonna take a quick break. We'll be right back. Don't don't Dodon. "Now expect other people to go and clean up the mess essentially or not refuted at all no they expect this just talking points for their supporters this is just feeding the anti gmo narrative you know that's it and you know whenever we publish these things on facebook it's amazing you know facebook is such a window you went to the media that the number of people parenting talking points that were handed to them by an ideological agenda is beijing they do over and over again talking point after talking point they are just regurgitating propaganda and they're doing it as if they're clever and insightful and they they know what's really going on you know and they're just being cynical right they're they're mistaking cynicism skepticism and they're just using these talking points and other people handed them with an agenda and of course we're the ones who are misguided and we're the sheep all right 'cause they 'cause they can regurgitate predigested talking points it's so the irony is just so incredible this form of the gish gallop yeah partly they just keep throwing you know because all the gish gallop is great when you're when your job is sewing fear and doubt right this is the merchants of doubt approach that this is the science denial approach you don't have to establish a position that holds water unto itself all you have to do is just keep throwing a bunch of shit against the wall and enough to make people has got to be something something's gotta stick there's gotta be something wrong which is just it just feels iki to me now and then just creating like they want to create a health halo around organic and whatever natural and they want to to to cast fearmongering over things that they don't like like gmo's so people just have this visceral instinctive reaction it's itchy gmo's or eggs i heard i heard so many bad things about it if half of them are true it's it's bad right but of course none of them are true if you dig down to each each one each one is utter bs all collapses then of course you portray the people who are exposing you as schillt's rights i'm machel imus shell because i went back to the original study and showed that it was bs also loved pointing out that they say the fda is bought and paid for right and even in the facebook bill bought and paid for fda right says another talking point that they can handed if that's true why did the fda right what they wrote right so they basically handed a propaganda point to the anti gmo crowd because they had to follow their own guidelines in their own rules i should say that the only reason why they were saying anything about it was because the fda approved golden rice in the united states which is purely symbolic because it's never going to be grown or sold here it's not for us it's not for the united states it was also approved in australia and new zealand again it's never going to be grown or sold there this but this is to lend support to were using basically our infrastructure to do some of the heavy lifting to lend support to poor countries so that they could feel confident to approve it themselves because the because the the you know these big in more wealthy countries used their resources to look at the scientific data into over but it's not for us it's never going to be sold in the us so we get what's the motivation here what's the motivation to approve it what's the motivation to make this wonky narrow statement that is technically true according to the fda's internal rules even though it produces this misleading talking point for the other side it it doesn't fit their narrative in any way in any way which is why they're desperately flailing for any talking point they could find and they leap on these things which basically in the end makes them liars which are opposing technology pretty that will save the site and the lives of poor children in developing countries there e end result of what they're doing is literally evil even though they mean well but that's what following blindly following an ideological narrative gets you to is like a cult it is it is anti gmo's occult let's face it in that way it is it's an ideological narrative.
