"Angelica schuyler from the movie version of hamilton. So how did you get through this number every time. Oh my goodness well. I had a whole lot of help. I actually loved watching it on disney. Plus because i actually got to see just how much support there was around me. The music is amazing. The the dramatic moment of the song just stopping time in having the entire journey of one character within one number a decision that she makes it changes. The lives of three people within one song is so brilliant. So it's a feet. It's a lot of words and it's a rangy song and emotionally as even greater but it's constructed so beautifully that i found it so easy. The hardest thing for me to do with that song in the beginning was to not be crying at the end of it because the choice was so stark in so painful and i just felt it was constructed so beautifully that it moved me so greatly that it was hard for me to sing the end of the song but the rap. What i get so much. Credit for was always easy for me. Because it's written so commonsensical lin manuel miranda wrote a played a lawyer many many years and he wrote an argument that is so methodically. It's like number one number two number three like it's so methodically laid out. This is such a smart woman and in a moment she sees it all clearly. It's a dissertation. And i've always been really good at memorizing things when i understand the thought process and hers is crystal clear now. We just learned that girls die of is coming back for a season. Two congratulations right now. We're just having a huge party about it. Somebody told me that in l. a. Somebody was sky writing girls five. I mean right now. we're still pinching ourselves. Because we were like this little show we were a little show being shot in covert on this little streaming platform. That was brand new that no one really knew much about peacock and now you know. Somebody wrote girls five. Evan this guy. I'm sure it was somebody that word for peacock but still in the sky in la for your consideration like we're pinching ourselves because this this is a labor of love and to see that we got a second season that we get to do it again hopefully in a time when the cova rules are less strict to see that we get to be together again is a gift and the fact that we get to make more of this candy is wonderful because i really love it. "What's so crazy is that they walk this line between being real songs that somebody would put out in the nineties fun actually kind of making us aware of some of the ridiculous things that we might have thought but also being just good enough to be to make it on an album but you understand why it didn't make it as a hit like how do you do that. You know you understand when you're hearing it. Why didn't make anything one other thing or one of the things that people love is the fact that these women are realizing just how sexist the system was the music industry like. We're talking about the lyrics but you know the way they're mar mail manager treated them the way. The record industry treated them. Was that something important to you. This feminist take on girl groups and the women who were in them. What's crazy is i. Don't know that. I was so aware of it until we started singing these songs and and talking about it. I think what's crazy. Even more crazy is that i didn't even know that it had really affected my life while i was shooting it. I was actually in a girl group. That had the same experience. And i didn't even think to mention it. To any of my cast mates. I knew that i was in a girl group. I mean i knew that. We didn't make it even as far as girls five back in the late nineties. For whatever reason. I didn't recognize how relevant my story was. That's just how blinded we are about the culture that we kind of have grown up in. I mean even while i was part of a show that was spoofing it. I was not aware that this actually happened in my life. It's crazy to think of just how unaware we are of the bias in now a few few of the characters in girls five ever for know their one hit or after the nineties. They leave music. You know the character gloria. Dentist don runs a restaurant in your career. Did you ever have a moment when you thought you know you do your dentist turn. Oh my gosh. All the time. Every day i came up in this career asking. If this isn't going to happen kill it. I just feel like there's something tragic about people spending their lives trying to do something especially in in the arts. If it's not going to happen. Because i feel our skills are so transferable. I just always felt like. I could be a really good teacher. I could be a real. I thought i could be a really good lawyer. And then i married one and i realized that the thank god. That didn't happen. Because i it's much harder than i thought but i really do believe there are so many ways to be valuable in the world. That has nothing to do with standing on a stage in this capacity. It's so fun. It's so wonderful to do it so powerful. I would do it as a hobby. If if no one would pay me to do it but there are so many other things that i could do i never ever ever wanted to take the stance on life that this is all i could do and so i was always ready and i'm ready today like if this is it. What other place. Can i be valuable in this world and wiki. I don't know that she's thinking that when she shooting geese at the airport. I think she's just trying to survive but i think she understood that she had value wherever she was she probably would be in a different place. One thing you did as an actor in new york was work on one life to live. How long were you on one life to live. I was on one life to live for four years. "And there And Tondena or Ondine is a famous name from European mythology. The German writer director Christian Petzold puts his own spin on the legend. This Indiana, played by Paula Beer lives in present day Berlin and works as a city historian. You wouldn't guess that there's anything supernatural about her or that she is bound by a single rule. If a human lover betrays her, she must take his life. We see her preparing to do just that. Early on. When her latest boyfriend, Johannes tells her he's leaving her for another woman. Petzel takes a somber, realistic approach to this outlandish premise. There are no obvious visual effects, and Indiana's mythological origins are never spelled out. But the story unfolds with such sly matter of fact, nous that I soon found myself immersed in it. Before she has time to deal with Johannes Andina is swept off her feet by another man, Christoph. And the two plunge headlong into a love affair that consumes them both and, like most of Indiana's love affairs is not fated to end happily. Christoph is played by Franz Rogowski, who appeared together with Paula Beer in Petzold. Previous film Transit. The actors are captivating to watch, and the reunion here adds to the movies faintly otherworldly feel. Petzel likes to use genre to illuminate different chapters of German history, and Tondena is no exception. His filmmaking is so elegant and concise that you may not realize he's slipping in a lesson on the history of Berlin itself, a history of war devastation and reconstruction. Which Tondena has long born witness. She's a truly timeless heroin in a movie that I've seen multiple times now and which becomes more mysterious and magical, with each revisit. Justin Chang is film critic for the L A Times he reviewed the new Pixar film Luca and the German film Tondena. Tomorrow on fresh air. Our guests will be Renee Elise Goldsberry. She was one of the stars of the original Broadway production of Hamilton and won a Tony for her performance as Angelica Skylar. Now she's a star of the new comedy series Girls five ever about the members of a nineties girl group who reunite when the women are middle aged. Tina Fey is one of the executive producers. I hope you'll join us. Fresh.

"And then a third one is sort of like the cast all sitting around reading scripts of old episodes and then interspersing that with the actual footage of that episode. So it's a it's a mishmash of a lot of different techniques but overall it's kind of this This celebration of what this cultural phenomenon of a show was. I will tell you my experience of watching. It could've titled friends the ravages of time because he is a boy it. Is you know this has been seventeen years since the showing off the air and it's just every single person that they bring back just go. Oh it's been seventeen years since the show's been on everybody's we're all old everybody's old i'm old everyone's old i mean there's a point which they cut to elliott gould in the audience who played one of the characters. Dad's friends and i could not recognize elliott gould. If you you'd asked me what famous actor is that. I wouldn't have been able to come up with elliott gould as like what happened to elliott go. No offense elliott gould but my goodness it's a very. It's a show where you go. Oh boy everyone. Time takes no prisoners. Although lisa kudrow timeless somehow still looks exactly the same she. She has managed to avoid the The ravages of time. But anyway i thought it was actually pretty pretty entertaining and especially most of the references and stuff were completely lost on me but as far as these type of things go actually thought they did a pretty darn good job. It's clear that they had budget to burn on this thing because at one point that they bring in lady gaga to do a cover of one of phoebe songs and then a full just walks in and start singing. The it's like they just didn't know how to spend money. They're just throwing money all around trying to figure out ways. To what else can we do. And i think they paid the two million dollars each as far as i. yeah. I'm sure like rebuilding the set from scratch which had been junked long. I'm sure that was no easy thing. It costs probably a pretty penny. Yeah i mean this was. They had money to burn on this thing and they were just doing stuff for no apparent reason but a very watchable show. I was surprised at how much i enjoyed looking at the nineties. Show of the nineties. A very significant way and You know there's a lot of sort of frank discussion of what it was like to do the show and behind the scenes discussions and You know i found it to be pretty entertaining. Actually excellent well. That's the friends reunion and it's on. Hbo max right now jeff. Anything else watching. Well i also checked out a new series that had been recommended on hashtag slash tag a number of times which is a great way to recommend all manner of shows and movies for both us and for your fellow listeners. We use the hashtag slash tag. It's it's something. I always sit down whenever we want to think of something to watch. I always check out recommendations using that hashtag. Thank you everybody that uses it. There's a new show on the peacock called peacock peaceful peacock the pickles. just the. there's no the why do you. Why do you keep saying in the high pitched voice. You really have to accent the the end of that. You'd be oh. Yeah when dave says he says the peacock get another streaming service that thankfully allows you to watch stuff without paying a dime some stuff now. Well not not everything. Now it's called girls five ever which is a title. I would not have gravitated towards. Sounds awful sounds fun. I don't even know what i'm supposed to think when i see it. You know i feel like the title perfectly encapsulates. The sense of like wins. Yes see the show but title is perfect retroactively title. Yes but when you tell me you gotta watch. This show called girls five ever. I probably don't yes agreed agreed. Yeah but i am very very glad. I checked this out. This is as close to thirty rock. As we've gotten in a long time. I was a big fan of thirty rock. I love thirty rock This is a lot of the same creator. Tina fey is a executive producer. Also plays dolly parton in the show at one point and it's paula. Pell is a major. I love her. I follow her on twitter. I think she's brilliant. And the concept behind girls. Five is there was a a spice girls s band in the nineties of a bunch of hot young women and they had a one hit wonder and then they all sort of you know went off about their lives and had sort of average everyday lives became parents became one of them became a dentist like they all just went on and had normal lives and then a rapper today samples their one of their songs and puts them back in zeitgeist and so they decided to reunite and start making music again as forty something women. And it's i think it's it's a clever concept and really really funny show. I love this. I mean it has that that saint in thirty rock. Every scene was sort of this weird hybrid between a single camera. Sitcom scene and a sketch like with with thirty rock characters were kind of characters but there are also like larger than life. Sketch characters also This show has that sensibility as well. And it's a sensibility. That really tickles me. So i'm really enjoying girls five. I know i think a couple of you have also watched. Dave watched it right. Yes i did. I had a great time. The joke density per minute is really really high. Yeah so i. I agree with you. It is a an appropriate error to thirty rock. And if you enjoy thirty rock. Enjoy that style of humor. I really appreciate girls five ever on peacock. So yep yeah all right. Let's just say like it is. I've seen a couple episodes. I don't know what busy phillips is doing in this show like she's doing real housewives style character. I hate everything. She's doing their love busy phillips. I love busy phillips so much but that character just seems like the show itself is very like off the wall and kind of zany wacky. At times she is just like at least that character is absolutely grading to me. Third hot one. She does she. She's doing what she's supposed to do just supposed to doing knowing you know but yeah two levels. There's different levels of annoying. All these characters like they have their own flaws quirks and everything. Her thing is very very specific. And maybe that's to give you like hyper-specific real housewife reject type character. But anyway i like busy phillips and the show is good so. I'm glad you're watching this jeff. Nobody checked out saved by the bell. When i mentioned it on the peacock so i couldn't be less interested in saving. It is actually a better. I think even a better show than this one. Really good guys god but it was good again again. I'm too old to have lived through saved by the bell. I've literally never watched an episode and saved by the bell the original so it it didn't stir any nostalgia for me. That's why yeah all right. Well let's girls five ever streaming on peacock. Let's get to weekly plugs. We're going to do weekly plugs. Talk leaked.

"This kids running around most apartment and most with it and Tobin and his girlfriend or happy and hr legal so it was very enjoyable and nice and just not a whole bunch to talk about. Because i usually. I have things. I'm mad at us really mad at anything here. Good jobs is plainly as you satisfied. Send it out on a positive heart song a. We'll be interesting if they come back to see exactly what the parameters of max hearing heart songs are going to. It's just going to be. We're going to go through the whole somebody having to figure stuff out again or if it's gonna be neutral alarm anyway. That was season to voice extrordinary platelets. Yeah what did not end on. The extreme tear jerking that season one. No i did not know. It ended on a happy note which is appreciated. So that if it doesn't come back we can feel good about it so moving onto another show with singing. We watched girls five of on peacock. It's a new show about a ninety s group. That about twenty years later is Sampled rap song and suddenly asked to be on the tonight show is kind of a a funny thing and then they decide that they are going to reunite and have a comeback even though they never really got very far the first time and Are all now mostly far away from entertainment either willingly or because really nobody will have them so. It's extremely unlikely. Especially since they are no longer girls that they're going to be able to get their goal. Group vied back and they also realize that most of the songs. They sang back in the nineties. Were you know kind of offensive and often so they have to find some better material and somebody who will pay them to sing and you know get over all the hurdles of their current lifestyles. So it doesn't. It's not the kind of show that slick relying heavily on storyline so that should suffice pretty. Well now it's on peacock premium which means that you can watch the first episode of it on free peacock but for the rest of it. You have to either pay for ninety five a month or get the seven day free trial and watch it all real fast so we opted well. Let's not say less than sneaking but let's just say we're gonna talk about four. The episodes now in the remaining four episodes next week just their short quick and they are lightweight little bubbles. They go down super easy. You can just knock off for these and hardly breaks stride As opposed to like one hour of veronica mars which feels like a five hundred ton weight on your shoulders and always extraordinary playlist which should be half an hour but is in our and is filled with problems. These girl five ever ever episodes man. They just just them like peanuts. That's right. they are super-duper lightweight and fun and like a little soap bubble floating up in the air and then popping. So i enjoyed watching it very much and the memory of anything that i would have to say about any of the episodes is quickly fading out on my brain. So would you think of girls five bella..

"Usually on this podcast. We talk about parenting issues. But once a week catherine i like to get together to discuss tv movies books and other entertainment topics. Because it's nice to talk about something other than parenting a change this week. We wrapped up season two of zoe's extraordinary playlist and we checked out a new singing show called girls five ever. Let's say goodbye zoey so. This was the last episode of the second season. The third season according to newsweek. Maybe maybe not maybe on peacock but it could end here. Yes or it could go on next year with please them not changing couples but now max ask them though zoe still have the power would they be a dynamic duo or right is it. Benifit ranch switch in some way But the whole the whole florida we should say what the episode was about. The whole plot of it was max was going to go to new york with rose and zoe mostly because the script said so decides she doesn't want to be with simon anymore that she really loves maxon all throughout the up searches trying to figure out what she's going to do about that and finally she goes to the airport and saw max singing when a man loves a woman and she thought it was two rows but of course we know that it was not and then as i kind of expected to happen. She is just somewhere in all of san francisco. And max appears says. He couldn't go because he loves her. Well ampoules words were said but that was the essence of it. So i guess that was there. It was that their spot or something. Because it's like. I feel like they've been there before. Did he have a. gps tracker on her bribes. Maybe maybe that's part of her. Smart spark point technology and simon is cool with them no longer being together and rose who cares about rose. We barely knew rose but she's probably not singing the happiest heart song right at the moment but neither neither a nor zoe is within range. So you go senior angry. Heart song rose in the big apple. I really like. They made her a little bit too. Likable let us hope that this is the end of the whether it's the end of the series or not is the end of the which handsome man will zoe choose because enough plead up. But you know if not to. Max is going to have a heads up about real quick so it also here in the last episode of the season. We finally got what we should all season. And that's peter gallagher. Tarim dad to save him for the season finale. A just made me think that we could've they could've worked there so many ways. They could've worked him in so many ways. We got a flashback. And we got a green brief memory of the seeing stars and stuff and then we got dream dad on the last darn episode..

They weren't famous like the beach boys so beach girls five is so stupid yes does not opposite of roll off the tongue whatever then is bg five not better guys. He g five. This was like a thing. This was an era. And i can't even think of another example but this is just like ella s like just like this town the sound i in the a three numbers and like i mean even in sync like just sort of like clumped up capital letters. So we learn that this other manager kenneth crete Has asked chris to manage Manage another group. That's has seen the success that she's had with her daughters and she is interested because when robert senior was alive he was also in the biz and she always wanted to do it too but then she just kept having baby after baby after bay stopped doing that. She started having sex with people outside of her marriage so just too busy honestly. She should have started to do this earlier. Might have saved their marriage. No kendall know kylie. But i know it's like it's it is interesting that they kind of rude all the way back to robber. His entertainment world connection so had too many jobs. Too many jobs very suspicious very suspicious raises vicious. But i did a little bit of research on these girls. I was hoping oh good okay. There's not a whole lot to say other than this. Kenneth person was also a producer on the kardashian. So that's how. I chris and kenneth so she really was for a time managing them. Yeah the only thing. The girls said was they had wear matching outfits a lot and they didn't like it seeing okay. We're not matching these. They were they were told what to wear. I guess interesting. Yeah i mean. I didn't recognize any of their faces. You know sometimes you see like a ninety s group and in the case of like oh my gosh. What is the name fergie used to be in. i think it was called wild orchid Which was like a pretty failed but like moderate. Whatever you know it was a three eight three girls three women. The most famous person from this group just happens to be famous for being miley cyrus. Best friend oh really yes. Like years ago maybe still currently good friend but years ago. Like that's her buddy. Yeah i miley just posted the anniversary of her getting a narc on by friend. Smoking a bong. I wonder if i wonder she was there. I wonder the bg five member was watching miley. Be g fiji five. Khloe does say something really funny clothes like. I don't think you should be managing other people. You have enough daughters to manage in. Chris what i really loved them. She's like you love anyone who gives you ten percent and ch- it's true. It's good it'd be likes. Whoever she gets the biggest like amount of ten percent from she likes the bestest she's looking at one two three four five and thinking. Yes please. This is. Not a duo. This isn't a trio this five women she's like i'm about to double them out of women i steal from. I got a lot of freudian slips tonight and then khloe also get another jab in and says she doesn't want her to manage anyone else especially someone named rtd to which is her jab at cgi. Yes get him. get over. The girls are shooting a video at the beach. I g five and sucrose brings khloe because for a for a while in the story. I guess khloe was going to be on this story line and then decided no more. I can't handle it. Yeah yeah..

"We're off to a good start Josh I appreciate this. To thanks for having me on. Yeah, being here. How are you living in this? Very, very hot day in this very, very hot lays during this global pandemic. Man. I'm I'm doing all right I'm doing all right for the most part. How's it over there for you? It's Not that hot over here girl I'm in the valley. Sorry I call everyone girl. Five in the valley and you're on the west side like it's probably eight to twelve degrees hotter here Roy right. Great it's always always. Yeah I'm doing I'm doing all right I mean I'm still seeing. My therapist, which is great. Yeah I. Got a good Quarantine Group of friends. And Bought some new workout stuff? I'm dislike you know. Trying to. Keep it real basic good. Ball right. Simple. Right. Who is it? Well, you have roommates you live with Andrew Yeah our friend. Andrew. And then what do you mean by quarantine friends? Is that people that you're like meeting up with two social distance walk or like? That what that involves yeah. These are the people that I see on a regular basis and. We keep it. Safe What am I a homeys Jarman I go over to his place a lot. 'cause one they don't have a car and then. Yeah I've just been there ever since quarantine started th I would like frequent their place. A lot and unlike merely just the only person that comes over there. So. Yeah I got tested once and I have another testing kit here that I'm going to do. Tomorrow. Because I, mail it out. So it's like put in A. Yeah, I have not heard of these. Well, I've heard that they exist I. Don't know anybody personally until this moment of anyone that's been using those like Mayland huskies. Revelation Andrew Andrew's one I. got this from my friend. A can send you the link Mingy, but it's free. It's from labcorp basically. Okay and it's they partnered with this company called Pixel and yet they they send you this kit you do a nose swab, and then you put the specimen in a bag and then you sent to Fedex and everything is already taken care of. Yeah, it's just it's a very. What time to be alive I mean this is the ongoing thing. We're at one four. I've been doing weekly podcast sometimes twice a week. So it get to me I'm just like. To what extent does that that saying I'm already sick of it. I've been sick of like week three but you know it's it's just a knowledge the accumulation of what's going on like you and I had a check in before we even started recording like are you okay to record and that's like a new development at least in my world that I noticed people like very graciously doing because we're all on different. Energy sources like our levels are fuel tanks are all. Are All very sensitive right now and so I really appreciated that because there was there was one moment is like consent and permission and just self self awareness right and checking in were like somebody that I had a a meeting like a phone call with asked me that and legit thought about saying you know what? Like maybe it'd be better to talk a different day and. I had never asked. You know you just go just Gogo as a really appreciated that philosophically like the asked me that I checked in and I ended up saying you know what I think if we just keep it pretty of UK for maybe like a half hour instead of like doing a full hour conversation. So stuff like that is is changing on my end. Now know about what's going on in your in your world of like how people are gauging those things warmer. I think we are being a little bit more sensitive to each other, which is great I haven't done like my podcasts in a long time, but I have had a couple. You know just phone calls with friends while I'm doing like these walks and stuff and. A lot of it is. Hey Dude checking in opening up about like any feelings or. Anything like that because again, this is a really weird time.

"You can now listen at home by simply saying Google play KGO eight ten here's on our phone numbers eighty eighty eight ten and we are joined by the one and only Dr dena Grayson not only is she critically right virologist biochemist M. D. and faxes disease specialist you bowl all that stuff but she's been with us to help us try to get through the morass of questions that accompany something like you know covert nineteen of doctor to talk to yeah everything's good with you I hope HM well the one and only chip Franklin great to be back on thanks thanks a lot so we have so much to talk about obviously the the the guy with the new name for Kawasaki syndrome which is a pram now is it going to get that right the acronym that they've given that for this this this inflection for children that seems to be even though extremely rare extremely concerning as well I want to start with you though and we got a lot of calls here eighty eighty eight ten we want to talk to people I want to talk to the first one because this is our first call after studying global data from the novel coronavirus pandemic researchers have discovered a strong correlation between severe vitamin D. deficiency and mortality rates does that surprise you in any way you know I I know it doesn't I mean we certainly we talked about this before in previous shows chipped in that you know when you have a severe vitamin D. deficiency that can lead to emit a suppression and certainly also in that hi to for example increased cancer rates and people that have vitamin D. deficiency now I want to caution everybody don't go out of her overdosing on vitamin D. more is not better in fact it can harm you so vitamin D. is a fat soluble vitamin which means it hangs out for a long time all you need is your daily dose the calling it taking more is not not not better so I just started taking about three months ago when I heard this I started taking because whatever girl for physical everything's fine but my doctor which is a you know get out in the sun a little bit more you know when I go well then I'll get melanoma it so hi California right you know so I am I I I started taking my take vitamin C. and and vitamin D. you know the maximum level I don't overdose on vitamin C. like some people do either but how long we know reason for it to have P. about vitamin C. unlike vitamin D. is not fat soluble so if you take extra you're just making money for the people make environment is yep peered out let's go okay so why how long does it take like for people that are deficient to catch up what they are so it can take days to weeks but you know so it's you couldn't you can kind of it's worthwhile if you think you might be low if you don't eat dairy or take vitamin D. supplements or you're not out in the sun it's worth getting your vitamin D. levels Jack may I had mine checked a few years ago and I live in Florida and I am an athlete I'm outside but boy Michael really low so I started supplement hi good to supplementation is not a bad idea it's not the same as getting in food right I mean but it's it's still helps is that fair I know it's going to take it find a ticket and I think that's a reasonable thing to do and but the thing that you also want to do especially women if you want to take a calcium supplement without the vitamin D. also helps you absorb calcium and you want to take vitamins calcium is not easy to get from died if you don't have their cell that is worth taking a supplement especially women who are you know a more prone to get osteoporosis have you seen doctor dean agrees I did that world of making funny your name with myself and never call you dina guard or Dan agrees and Dr dena Grayson has been published in the New York times and other leading publications as well her thoughts and opinions are very valuable and lot of people are I heard you last Thursday and our interested as well so it's going to Caroline right now Carol here on KGO with Dr de dena Grayson what's your thought what's your question thank you Sir before the pandemic kids I've actually starting with an endocrinologist and apparently I'm not absorbing D. and I have low levels of diesel what do you suggest again before the pandemic I haven't been able to go back so yeah that's the challenge right which is you can get parental you get injections of vitamin D. which then can increase your vitamin D. levels now would be the way to go if you're not able to absorb it so I would you know as we were in the summer months and we're getting a little bit of a retrieval you know with the instructions they flattened off before we head back into next Lucy and I would encourage you to try to see if you can get into gear and a criminologist maybe July July August time frame and see if you can get blocked up there relation with silly acts disease yes so you have to leave it in an employment information all of the ballots you have silly Oct disease that type of information of your bell can lead to it in an ability to absorb are properly especially fat and vitamin D. is a fat soluble vitamins so it gets absorbed with the fat so if you have if you do have celiac disease that's likely why you're not able to absorb it very well so therefore you need to get an injection which is very much in which doesn't look good thing is that that certainly exists and that would be a great way to get you talked up you know very very quickly with vitamin D. thank you Carol I'm pretty sure it's a call and you know it's interesting did we get a we talk about covert early on everybody was saying well you know some you gonna gets so you know those percentages we came up we were I guess we were the hubris is is amazing but it wasn't really virologist and infectious disease specialist but a lot of us were saying well you might get sick and you know real small percentage of like old compromise people are gonna get sick but I just I tell the story of Dr this guy doctor feral on NBC you've seen it before he was on the today show today he was in critical condition he's forty three he runs five to eight miles a day is a perfect shape and this thing hit him and it almost killed him so I mean you know what everybody talks about it you know we can get we can go back and get together we can open it wide up we still really understand how this is affecting people into that question let's go to Larry joins us here on KGO eighty eighty eight ten Larry what's your question for Dr Dana yes doctor Dana by the way I appreciate that I'm in my seventies if I let's say I get the full blown coat coated and I wind up in the hospital for ten or eleven days maybe the ventilator whatever what are the permanent damages that I that I could expect after I get out of the hospital after they threw me out in a wheelchair with a second yeah Larry well it depends this is a virus that unfortunately doesn't just hit the long thick and had a lot of different organs including the heart in particular the brain the kidneys so locked into the severe illnesses of the severe pneumonia we'll have sort of a secondary effect on other organs but it's really just related to shock and sort of as an indirect effect with this virus is very stealthy and unfortunately it can infect other organs the side along so Peter and we're learning more learning new things about the fires every day but certainly one of the you know the data coming from China to take that with a grain of salt but the data coming from China on some of the folks that were in the ice you long term yes your honor that only there for a long period of time people can have permanent lung damage due to the inflammation leading to what's called a fibrosis in the lungs think about like starring in your lawn one patient in China actually had to have a double lung transplant and there is the potential to have kidney damage heart damaging even you don't your logic damage machinist in younger patients here in the United States because people have a higher chance of quantum and are having things like strokes machinists in young people thirties and the forties having strokes and that obviously can lead to some permanent neurologic damage as well so this is a you know a very dangerous virus and it is like you know but like Russian roulette I mean you know their seven year old that can do very well there was a hundred year old woman audition a hundred and one in Italy who won over even if a hundred three who believed to have also survived nineteen eighteen hundred and thirtieth issue of had nineteen eighteen hello how their body to that end now how cold it and she left so you know it just easy enough we have you know little kids that die and the twenty year old son die so it's really accomplished a total crapshoot the Aussie vindicate though Larry because we're we're guessing right now we have somewhere between ten and fifteen million people that are infected with sars cookie too and obviously there with you know eighty what eighty four thousand dead that's print that those odds are pretty good I mean for most people right I mean that's it's still the I. that the idea that you're gonna die or be severely damaged by this still at this point look like there in again perfect for the across the general population for older people starting at you know I guess what fifties sat when we owe it what what we I think it to be a little search if you have to be a little careful with the death rate we know that the death toll is is substantially higher than what's being reported as the number of cases she can take the number of cases and multiply that by about ten and the reason I say that that's based on antibody studies and the best ones have been done in New York and in Florida so it shows that probably the amount number of infections on average in the United States is probably somewhere in the range of ten fold higher than the component cases by the testing for the virus the number of dead is not turned temple higher there we look at something called the access and death toll meeting with a fast moving pandemic you know like just get overwhelmed like in New York what people you know the ambulance is just the one up in real time so you can people died at home to look at again what called the excess death toll and overall United States a Yale University study suggest that they get they estimated somewhere around one and a half to two times higher than the reported numbers of deaths I think what it is pretty safe to say that the total number of Holden nineteen death is probably in the range of a hundred twenty thousand two hundred sixty thousand to really what we're looking at overall probably overall the mortality of the fire is around one percent okay so it doesn't much higher much higher than seasonal flow much higher and doing right right some of that amount more than that it's more than that probably more like ten to twenty times higher so and then there is an age related the fact that we really want your apologies about sixty five that's where we start to see that mortality rate go up pretty substantially for a number of reasons some of that could just be older folks tend to have higher rates of hypertension and cardiovascular disease which is an risk factor for serious illness or death but also your immune system changes as well so there's a variety of things going on there that are risk factors okay on on the positive side because.
