"Jake i mean that's a great question. Maybe that's why they went into training camp and preseason with so many receivers because they were hoping one of these guys truly seize that moment. I mean i'll be the first one to throw egg on my face. I believe pressed. The williams was good. Would he have one reception on three catches for two yards. I thought albert. We'll see no. This was his year. You know he was the big playmaker throughout camp. I think you're probably closer to right. You know this. This receiving core is probably a bigger issue than we lead on to believe but when you have an offensive line that can't hold up. Oh i mean you've got to do something with them. i mean. we can't see a sticky being a guy who just plays like four or five snaps makes four or five plays in his done. This guy needs to be a really big pardons offense especially in the red zone and we didn't see that from god's see i don't know again if it's more that the pressure is To develop but the tight end tight usage. The play calling doesn't seem to be meshing correctly is something that is a little surprising considering godsey history. Yeah i think. I was the one that say no she. Josh and overall. I mean they gave up thirty five points. This is a game that that's going to go down in the record books as thirty five. Nothing lost But i don't those last points in the last twenty one points. The dolphins gave up. I really can't blame the dolphins defense. That's that's tape you just throw away. And i mean i think the run defense again besides net huge you know i think devon single terry one on touch almost like fifty yard early in the game after that i mean they. Kind of buckled down. "And one of the focuses. We really wanted to have on this. Podcast was the breakdown. The all twenty two but unfortunately no. I haven't got it yet. I got some sent to me. Didn't get a dive into as much as i wanted to. Nfl game pass still. Isn't working jake. Devan holland played absolutely out of this world. He was the highest graded rookie fry. Eighty two point five grade. The second is on team. We saw that force fumbling had on johnny smith. But for me. Jake you know yes. He's at upgrade. At least i thought over bobby mccain and coverage you know maybe not the the verbal communication or by thought. He had that better silent silent better in pass coverage but what he brings to. The run defense is just a mess. We saw johnny smith hit. We seem dropping down the box. And he's just doesn't seem like the games too big. He's not scared. Get skinny and make those hits which you know. I hate to bring up minkah fitzpatrick but that was something that a lot of fans didn't quite like or you know he was a little upset about so for me. Jake i excited to see which yvonne hall does it says you know. He was not targeted once on sixteen coverage snaps. I just want to see more. I wanna see more of him out there. I don't wanna take anything against nikkan. take anything away from victim because i thought he was also but do you have a feeling that maybe this was game plan to where the patriots who use a lot of those two tight end sets hunter henry and johnny smith they might think need to simply works better as a slot when you have to cover those guys were just in. Coleman is going to be better suited you actually based on actual slot corner those a little bit guys to a little bit more wiggle to. That's a good question. Jake namino again. I wonder if the dolphins one position battle even a little more. Maybe we can get a little greedy. And say maybe the past score single touchdown or maybe one of those feels off the board. "This performance. I tool was sacked. Just twice on monday offensive. Line clearly still had some work to do. There was an illegal man downfield at a pretty nice screen pass. i think it was And then there was another hold on. I think it brought back brought back pretty big perception. I didn't really keep track of the penalties But overall josh you have to wonder where these guys to come back with healthy we heard about liam aiken berg dealing with his bumps and bruises so when austin jackson to come back is there somewhere he can fit in elsewhere on this offensive line or is it just kind of going to be him as the backup cliff tackle or i mean we're used to kinda see it you know so and so doesn't work here. We moved them but if the dolphins are paying playing the best offense environment. I don't i don't really know where he'd sit in know. The first thing came to mind was right. Tackle net would just be scared of shit. Ever 'cause you know. Because i mean to his already running for his life jake gotta give a shout to michael because i mean you see the tape going around you know. Ck paired some of these other guys are focusing in on some of this offensive line tapes. Michael de look pretty good yesterday. You know he was opening up some holes making some plays and do you know it wasn't one of those players that truly stood out for his bad performance. So that's a step in the right direction from what we've seen previously at the center position before we move onto the defensive. "The the giovane holland hit stick on. Johnny smith we all saw him. Do a somersault ball. Came out and then exergen howard. I mean jake. We sat here and we continue to say probably the best player on this entire team. And then you know with all the stuff that happened this off season to have him come out there when they were doing everything they could not get the near him. He went up there and made a play. I mean that was just awesome to see and That streak continues now for the miami dolphins. They are now twenty three consecutive games with a turnover. The last team failed to create a tournament was against the bills back on november seventeenth of two thousand nineteen. The team record is forty two so i hope i didn't accept but the key is miami. Dolphins success last season was turning getting takeaways. And you know trying to capitalize on that plane enough on offense to not turn the ball over. I think you saw that in this game and ultimately the got the win. And i think that's what so many people are forgetting is that the dolphins won this game. No matter how ugly it was no matter. How much yards to mack. Jones dickson dunks at the end of the day. The dolphins are now wanna know on top of the afc east and you gotta feel pretty damn good about it no matter how ugly it will just and that's such an important factor to keep in mind here. I forgot who is talking about. It might have been eric rowe. Who was saying that. You know their offensive playmakers. I think bows gasoline. Who are walking around the facility with football's all the time and the defensive guys are always trying to punch him out and so when we get frustrated about maybe a opposing running back and spinning forward and getting an extra two yards. "Make some plays air so i think those guys are gonna have a big say this. I also believe giovane holland. I mean when you look at what he did in college. That was a huge part of his game. He played a ton of snaps at nickel but the way he wasn't that run game whether was getting off blocks but it was just putting a hit on the running back. Don't on those holes. I mean driven hollandse. Guys i starting to think maybe once the preseason ends new had those two weeks before the regular season we might see that these guys are practicing bull in their bubble wrap did here we go to season or it could be all doom and gloom. I mean again. A young safety started four games last year against the patriots chargers denver and the patriots again played thirty eight percent of teams snaps. And you also have your jason mccourty is currently has started and i think you know a lot of that is because he is a veteran presence. He has got it understands. His defense can get those you know the corners and the rest of that defense align a little bit better than obviously a rookie but again if giovane holland do half the things that we continue to hear that. He's doing a camp. I mean that just seems like a homerun cy a homerun draft pick and you know when so many people wanted to running back. It was like so against the grain for the dolphins to go that route again. We're already hearing. That's paying dividends. All bite in practice yet just. I wanted to bear. Branded joins me by him. "To move you forward josh. I gotta be honest. I'd like to hear about any of mine is offensive line. Really walking down the position. Now i'm not saying you know off the decks is gonna little tackle job. I guess we see a little bit from travis wink but we have not heard a lot of you know stellar feedback on this offensive line since training camp began. You know we could say that. The dolphins defense is pretty damn good and that's true but you know we are hoping to hear some sort of growth from from all these guys. I mean the reason. He defended this group so hired a lot of people dead against being kind of their young. You know the year to growth is going to be But i don't think we've really heard that phrase about austin jackson and then when you look at the situation with i-compared josh. She started last eat practices berry jackson for track ati practices he started at left guard. He started the preseason or training camp go subjects in those up a break tackle. So there's also the idea. Maybe they're just flipping guys in announced she however really works together. Ci different situations unfold. Whether you know right tackle goes down. Maybe kidney goes down at left guard but today it did seem like a negative tone. Maybe that little cloud over it. That bird was a demotion So kinley josh. I get the idea with this group and it could be trying to spins on the situation of course but it seems like an offensive line. That's built with kinley hunt. Jackson is a group that might perform a lot. Better defending pass rush. They would a running back. And i think that's where we see the dolphins vision going towards set of drafting that top tier running back. You can kinda get by with miles. Guests can make the most out of a tough situation and then catch a couple balls mexico too. And i think again you just wanna see one of these young players truly grasp that you know whether it's the starting guard spot whether it's right tackle whatever it is us want to see one of those guys you know own that and become that. I think that transitions perfectly into this. The offense and again. I had somebody tweeting me throughout the day. I'm really started interested about this receiving battle josh. Because we're not hearing a bunch of devante parker. I think he makes the team either way up. But when you keep hearing names instead keen grant popping up. I mean alan hearns popped up today even though that by the bit because he was trying to start a fight or than making plays but where does the direction of this receiving core going. I have to say he was eating listed on the team's website yesterday So josh i mean where do you see can really complete competing for the dolphins. This year is going to be locked into that right. Tackle spy after the dolphins traded up eight spots to get him in the second round or consoling. Dj fluker really pushed for the position. Enforce i can to kind of duke it out for right guard position or even just with just davis there is as those backup blind because it does seem this year that the miami dolphins good to have a lot of depth on that offensive. Line something. we're not used to. yeah and some. We're not going to complain about. But i think you kind of touched where he's going to fit in. I think he might eventually become that right tackle. i think he's going to be the starter there knowing. The season begins but You know this is a battle. Everyone's going to have an equal opportunity to win that job. You know it's gonna be every we keep your versatility you know all these offense alarming can play all over the offensive line. I think since last time we talked jake giovane holland and hunter long also signed their rookie deal so Good on the dolphins forgetting them altogether getting them in the building. Because you know today's the first day of school you know you're getting your no pets getting used to your school major classmates things like that tomorrow. You know they'll go out there and do some of that work on the field and to have all these guys. All these rookies under contract. That's a good thing and like you mentioned it's never bad. Have too much on the offensive line. And try to figure out where i can bergh's gonna play and if davis is going to start you know whereas kinley going to go. I mean it's a good situation to be in if you're the dolphins there's a lot of talent in the trenches so now i mean you kind of hit on with howard. The big key is with him with any player is to get the most games as possible. also very physical sports. So there's no promises that any of these guys are gonna play sixteen games so now josh the goal for the preseason the goal training camp above anything else is to stay healthy. "Critical piece of these defense. Here's mike mayock. I thought jeff heath did a good job last year. Jeff spin lake several years We're always looking for competition. I think the free safety position in the draft this year I think there's some good players through the first three or four rounds. And then after that i think he got a target. Some guys that might be corners might be nichols. Be a little bit creative. But we've grinded this whole defensive back class pretty hard just like every other positions quickly ended. Then he likes jeff he i don't know i'm all on board on how well jeff he played last year that he thinks he game. But do you believe the free safeties in the room or do you believe They've gotta get one whether it's in the second or third rounder or someone that might make leave some come in and least compete right away from that spot. You know if you if you had a defense that was really good or even pretty good and you tell me that. Hey we've got some really good pieces on the defense we like where we are and we're going to plug in jeopardy or collar joseph to that free safety spot. I would say see that. I think that works. I think both those guys are veterans. That have been around They've been able to play safety at a fairly high level. Nothing world-beating but they're good enough. But that's not the defense that you have. You have a defense. That has a lot of question marks a lot of holes. It really really struggled and needs to get a lot better in your account on that on that free to a playmaker at a difference maker. Cheer that's not what those guys are. They're serviceable pieces. Not the guys you rely on that. You really need to have a really good player at though spots so i if that makes any sense i think that's that's the difference for where they are Is that. They need a difference maker. They don't need a guy. And i think jefferson college oxford. His guys that are capable of playing in capable of starting but not necessarily Big game changers for this defense. So yeah. Call joseph as much as i think he can't play free safety and this defense and would be capable of it. I actually think he's more of a A piece that works with jonathan. Abram tries to help become better and then fills in more that bach safety and plays alongside him or plays you know behind him or with him or in place of him at times. Jeff he probably more the backup free safety and they try to bring in somebody I would think through the draft but also you know you have that possibility In it was free agents. In like i just said there's going to be guys that are released guys available at some point. I still think trayvon marrying a possibility. in that first round The tcu safety if all top. Three elite offensive tackles are gone You know in seoul slater and dera saw. Maybe think it's a fresh take tackles either allies vera. Tucker it's ever jenkins. I think both those are pretty good. kevin jenkins particularly the run. Game could be great But if you think it's too high to take them there's not value there Than bearing the guy and you plug about safety and then find a tackle in the second round but even if do take tack on the first round or any other position and you're still looking for safety like there are guys. Elijah moulton i think is a pretty good safety out of washington claim. The spot I also Really kind of like giovane holland. I think he could be. Potentially that kinda guy that you want there But term america's the guy. I would look for in the first round. Potentially i think he was the guy. In fact i know i wrote it. He's the guy in our our last mock draft. That was going to the raiders. I think it makes some sense to bring him in But you also just never know. Maybe don't traffic. Maybe they distract best available player and they they have a lot of a lot of holes to fill maybe they are rebuilding this year looking toward next year as the that they're trying to compete and You know maybe just take the best available player. Take a towel of guys that are filling one of the two really glaring needs. Well we know you'll be all over. Follow all of atoms. Mock grass leading up to the draft.
