"But they did like the. They didn't like the idea of being a free agent. This summer and And Same Age represents Gordon Hayward which is why all along I even before this I thought Hayward was he was picking out that option All right let's move on to Most improved player every year. This is one of those awards where there is a whole bunch of candidates and one of the reasons is because it's difficult to define some people say look. You shouldn't give second or third year player most improved. Because that's you know all when not all but it's the normal progression that you improve in your second or third year. Other people say they should matter. Some people say that it's not really an award for Stars. It's more of an award for role players who move into the star category. Some people say you can't win two years in a row or you know once you win one year. Can you win it the next year you know this is Pascal Seok him right. The thing so Jackie do you have a hard and fast way that you look at this award? Well so we'll see what my mom's Tim thanks to this. You know I I know that. A lot of people think Luca Danni which has a chance to win this award. Something about that rubs me the wrong way because I think Luca Danni has a chance to be a generational player in somehow. That doesn't fit most improved. And then I say to myself why not gloating him. Because he's going to be a great player so I think your point a good one Brian. I most of the candidates that I have on my list for this year. Our younger players Donncha of Bam out of Bio Brandon Ingram who made a huge leap but also switch teams in order to make that leap same thing was shea. Gill Alexander. My preseason pick for most improved player. Who did just that? You mentioned Siaka such an interesting you know last year went from like fifth starter. Two major contributing role player wins most improved and then this series all star so he's a legitimate and then also. I really think you do you look at Jason Tatum. Asimo seem tatum. Classic Situation Tatum. Last year had a disappointing year. So he kind of just sort of rejoined the the upswing he was expected to have to deduct points where you thought he'd being your three. He wasn't a linear route to it exactly. But but let me ask you. Did you think like I think? Tatum has a chance to make thirteen all. Nba? This year. I definitely and so. Did you think that I definitely think Siachen does too by the way he does? I don't know if they will. I don't think both of them can one or the other. I think if I'm mom mentioned either by the Devante Graham was another player. That took a big leap. I should mention devante great. Nobody twenty points per game second player grant. He's was great. I mean I don't know it's I don't know the rules are weird on this okay so Jacki which there's no rules it's up to your interpretation right. You know I I ended up. I think putting Brandon Ingram number one. I think it's a good camp but I wanna hear yourself so I think part of it. My thought process with Brandon Ingram was. I think there was a lot of dysfunction last year in Los Angeles. Some you know everybody has to play a part in it. Everyone who was on that roster. He went to a situation than I think for. His personality made a lot better sense. I think he has said as much I think he settled into a young team team. That struggled quite a bit. So maybe that's points against him but he emerged as a player that I think we all thought he could be or is on his way to being. I don't know we can save for sure that he's there yet that we thought when the Lakers drafted and that he could be and I thought he had a really fine season. And and so you know by. These guys are all good choices by. Stop talking about him. Because I'm finest and I know I am and I just it's not that. I didn't think he improved immensely. Of course he did. I just feel like he doesn't and I know it's wrong. I'm guilty of this. I don't know that this war makes sense for me to put dodges superstar. Here's a superstar. But I agree with you Luca he was post to take this step in to bona fide. All Star this year and he took the step in a superstar and he's a he's an MVP candidate so he improved more than anticipated. But I do like. He was a star as a rookie. And so I now. The argument for him is more difficult to make the leap from you know really good player to MVP candidate than from solid role player. All Star but man damn out of I o made that leap from you know. He was a good solid role player. He was he was a nice player in his first couple of years to. I mean all star on a really good playoff team a guy. He almost doubled his scoring. Now has minutes went up but not didn't almost doubled a score on his rebound went way up. He more than doubled his assists. He's yeah he's the defensive anchor on that team. I mean you know he's a he's an offense of you know focal point more so as a as a distributor screener who also gives you sixteen efficient points per game. I thought Bam out of bio made the biggest leap that wasn't and whites. I moved on certainly gave them more opportunity but I thought you sleep was more about his improvement than about circumstances changing. So what's your ballot? That okay so the difficulty I had here. Was You know Brandon? Ingram had a special first off. He took an explosion in shooting. He did his shooting just exploded. I mean just from range but like all. He became like an elite top ten free. Throw shooter eighty five percents from the floor after shooting sixty five percent a year before I mean for the line from the line. Sorry what did I say by the also went from three point shooter to a almost thirty nine percent points? Yeah and a high volume guy doing that. He just felt like he was very consistent. And I know the team wasn't great and you know do we factor that in. I guess some do. I don't necessarily I just think Brandon Ingram became this year. What we thought he had a chance to be and you know with his health in the blood clots and everything else last year and everything. I was going to say you know. He was facing an immense pressure. Right there were people that you know there was uncertainty. Because you know the blood clot thing is very scary. If you know if you have a second one it's it's your career's on the line. And and so he had and he was playing in a contract year to do basically whether it's GonNa make the money the big money or not and the he really delivered and so I love the Bio and I think the way he plays. There's just not many people like him and he's got motor he's got he's got the Siachen. Moulder Yes sir. But I just I just have to give ingram sort of an extra points if you will for. Every time he he went there basically dumped by by his team. You know get out of here and get something decent return. I know but still he. You know he thought he was going to be that guy and they they shipped him out. So Ingram and a bio At the top of my list I really didn't do a third but I mean it feels weird to put don-shik third because I yeah I mean so I don't think I don't know who is third. I guess maybe. Pasquale out of respect but Alexander very very nice leap. Also he did. That's just heard twenty point guide. You could say that as well all right. So let's go to defensive player of the year. I will start on this one last year. I really really struggled on this one. And I- elected to go with Janas last year and this year Jaanus You know the bucks are on pace for like sixty nine. Seventy wins Who knows what they'll get a chance added. They are the number one defensive team by touchdown then the best defensive player on that team is the honest and he's number one and ESPN defensive. Rpm These in defense. Oh that's right. Rudi is number one I think is actually. I looked this up. I think he's three okay. We don't show. It's all the way to three horror does. He doesn't play as many. I have many theories on that but anyway continue yes so anyway I'm going with him again and You know you mentioned Rudy's number one rudy's dominant defensively You look at the season I I mean. I can't really put Lebron way up there. But Lebron has had his best offensive season six or seven years. He should be on the sense of team store and of RPO. He's even in the top five defensive player of the email. I know I'm just saying though. I mean Anthony Davis obviously yes. Anthony Davis is long was amazing this year before Lopez. But I'm telling you Ben. Simmons has has had an unbelievable defensive year. No one ever talks about because everybody's too busy talking about the fact that can't shoot threes. You leads the League in steals. But it's it's more than that when he's out and I don't have them and I wish I did you think I'd be better prepared. But I'm not apologize. Splits with him on the floor off the floor. What they're defensive rating is. He's an elite defensive player. That should be in this conversation. I also chose Janas to win this award with a d second but I think Ben Simmons gets overlooked and he shouldn't is stuck stuck with Bayer. I don't feel great about it. He is defensive RPM. He is the leader by by a wide margin. That's true is the difference between him is the difference between the second guy and real good at math on the fly but like second tenth or something like that you know. He did have more defense responsibility this year. Just because the way they restructure that roster but the jazz slip significantly defensively this year. And if I'm being realized about it rudy did not play well after the All star break and so you know. The argument lost a lot of being there. So again he'd be. I A my ballot but I wouldn't Wouldn't consider it any kind of great injustice if up and down this year. It's really hard to get an idea of who they are. And the other thing I thought and look you know the whole rudy. Gobert down to Mitchell thing if you think it's all back krona virus that's not true. I think it's something else you want to say about the well. I think that Rudy. Let's his frustration with not getting the ball in particular Noggin lobster anything. He's open impact energy on the defensive. End Way too much way too much for a guy who has paid a lot of money primarily to be the most dominant defense player in the League and he pouts way too much and so I think that's why did you vote for dude shop. You're making making the case for us why we shouldn't vote for him. Not well look. Because he's still the most dominant defensive force in the League is why voted for him. That doesn't mean he's above criticism and it doesn't mean that I can't recognize that he wasn't as dominant this year as he was in the previous two years when he won the award came. We got off to a into a tangents over. You know what might be some of the roots of the discontent there and I think that you know Rudy sometimes worries too much about stats status and I think Donovan. Sometimes you know is a is a black hole offensively and I think there was some kind of passive aggressiveness. That had been bubbling on both sides. And you know. The Corona virus positive tests down for whatever reason has decided to kind of take a stand with at all. I'm going to say tim is. I trust you implicitly on the Jazz because you've seen the more than I have so I would trust your opinion on this and yet the defensive player of year to me by definition is someone that is giving a maximum effort on the defensive end. And you just told me that your vote is a guy that Powell's occasionally because of all these outside factors. I can't vote for that guy won't hold that against Jackie. Thank you ten by the way. Anthony Davis Defensive RPM thirty third overall and Lebron ranks four and again. That's not that's a metric. It's not the end all be all I know..

"High. Let's get to it. It's time for Baby Ben. Grown all right. Oh One and one for you sir. Patriots Cost Ya. You push with the colts plus three some guy on twitter twitter was like I don't want to jinx you but you've been on a roll of late tweeting at me and then of course jinx me because I had a Russell Wilson prop which he may not have known because I added the close of the show. Sometimes I guess. People tune out after bonanza but I did added so I was a net loser last week. minus eight hundred because it was a dime bet on Wilson. Terrible Bet But I just loved it and then just didn't get there that happened so you know it's it's so hard to stay out of the NFL man you know like corn corn gas me make one pick for each week for some things semester. One of the newspapers here and I just kinda rotate. How I do it and I just every week? Whichever it's everyone I choose loses just absolutely bizarre even like even if there's four players I like and I go three and won the won loser was the one I gave corner gay for his? Yeah and I gave him patriots This week so last week I should say so. I'm sure whatever I give them on. Friday lose on Sunday as always. But there's only one game that I'm recommending this week. Don't listen to my recommendations because I've run out of gas on the NFL. I I was surprised. How many like sharps and how much money was on the pats last week? Not that I mean I think they should have actually covered. I'm just saying like I was surprised. Prized everybody was on the Patriots. You know it's funny. I I'm sorry on the chiefs. Excuse me everybody was on the chiefs Kinda lucky in that game we had we were. We stuck pretty big to the chiefs and I. I talked to my colleagues out there that said they lost a lot on that game but we had a guy right at kick off I mean as they were lining up for kickoff. This guy came up and ask for eighty thousand on the Patriots and we gave it to them and we still. I'm still not saying it was a great result for us but getting that eighty K.. There right at the gun. Ah really saved us from what could have been a pretty big loser so I lost more than you did. That's what it's all about. Yeah what is your play Mr Director. You're on the tee box. You get the honors. This time only got one and I'M GONNA I'm GonNa take advantage of our rule here or we can use any Las Vegas sports book because my friends at the South Point Jimmy Vaccaro in a team. They've got Houston plus three minus one ten. So I'll take the Texans at plus three minus one ten for a dime. Most of the books around the city have like the West Gate. We've got minus one twenty. It's mostly Tennessee minus three even on the market but the south point has three flat so I will take their per our rules. And that's it and I'm going to step aside here I'm GONNA get back. I'M GONNA climb back into the golf cart and I'm GonNa let you go And we're going through the postseason right. I think I think we did last. Astor was we went right up through the super bowl so I don't see why we wouldn't do that again this year. So I'm GonNa do a dime on the team. Total for the bengals under fifteen and a half minus one. Oh six REX. Who has that? I'm looking at FANEUIL. I thought we were doing. I thought we were doing Nevada book. Any books have it. Do you guys have it. No I mean we. Let's see if it's nine and a half and forty one and a half so we would make 'em twenty five and a half and sixteen ecksteen but you you should play. Let's call it. We would make it sixteen in all likelihood. Okay we've got New England minus nine and a half and forty one and a half so that would work workout twenty five and a half or New England sixteen for the Bengals. So why don't we give cause we'll put we put them up on a date again right. But why don't we put up Why don't we say sixteen here Erin? We'll give you the under there. That's fine I mean I'm happy to just say that's going to be my plane. Let's wait to their posted in town on Sunday. Because I just like to give at least on the I understand. Sorry to interrupt you. But I can't guarantee that we'll post on Sunday. 'cause I don't know what the side and the total are going to be on Sunday. I'm saying that that's what we would make it if we made the team. Total right. Now you'll Gimme sixteen using the sixteen August sixteen. Okay all right that works for me minus one ten right. Yeah okay all right my friend. Good stuff I gotTA close the gap. We set up a middle one of these days just to get and get back into this thing. So yeah tonight was. We're not exactly long tonight in play. I I was up at the South Point I did a spot with Mitchum polly this morning after I got off the set I saw Gill Alexander. 'cause he was going on set to his show a numbers game and I said something like almost over and he said not really. You know if you look if you count the Super Bowl we still have seven more weeks so there's still a a long way to go here down the stretch and the NFL. That is true that is true a little break in college this week though. Although we do have army navy this weekend all right my friend I have a good one is always. We'll talk to you next week..

"Davis via trade, not free agency. Obviously, if you can just flat out trade for him, and you've got those three kids that LeBron clearly was already willing to trade last year's deadline and to me, he burned, maybe not the complete bridged all three kids, but at least part of it, I know, Rondo was quoted in RIC Bucher specie of the day as same the kids were damaged over this because they all grew up idolizing LeBron. And it's all of a sudden, it was like, daddy said. No, I don't want any kids, you guys. I'm going to ship, you all to New Orleans. So, so if they're scared me shipping them the board school board, time you. Yeah, that'll make you love them to the boarding school k that's fine. But, but he was willing to send them to boarding school. So here we go again. So it just seems like it's, it's perfect. Because truly there are other suitors here, the clippers are involved in this, the clippers are lurking because they're always lurking for the Lakers, and they have some. Have what are they have? What are the have Shay Gill Alexander? The point guard. He's you do. Hold on. So you believe he's better than lawns. You believe better than Lonzo BIA? I don't think he'll be better than Lonzo but last year's a room played really well. He showed me a lot, and they love him, but I think they'd be willing to part with him if he could be a centerpiece in a deal for Anthony Davis. There's a thing, the thing that concerns me is that of these three guys Lonzo beyond coups, coups has been the healthiest of the three now we've seen seasons in, in the previous two years for Lonzo and then be I have this issue. But it seems Dr seemed to think that everything's going to be okay. It's give our legs. All my avenues. I'm gonna try okay. Scour league they're twenty eight other teams. Which one are you guys are willing to give up a solid player for the fourth pick in the draft skip. I know somebody can use the fourth pick in the draft. Damn. I mean look, I understand that. The poor picking the drought might not be Charles Barkley, but Heo somebody could use the fourth picking the drought is this discrimination against my school Vanderbilt, because we have produced Darius garland, who, by the way, has been signed by clutch, sports, and Rich Paul LeBron. Jane as a client. So he's got some cash shea. My I think he's going to be the fourth pick. I think he would have lots of value on the open market. So I think you for New Orleans Davos, they could turn into something else. Well, the thing if been reported that they don't really want the board pick they wanted thirteen to get involved, eight Lakers. You do something with the third peak, and then we'll let you know and that's my thanksgiving. I don't know. Who's running first of all, you said, whoa Joe and we'll do good of the gifts in this business of reporting stories. He said, no one wants to play LeBron. I believe the number one reason skip you keep saying this clown show, but let me ask you a question..

"Line. We have discussed at all. We've already figured out. I think that is going to the clippers you think he stays with the raptors Kevin Durant. I don't know what in the world he's going to do as long as it does not include him going back to the bay city like I have zero interest whatsoever ever ever smoke was. Atta seeing Kevin Durant back in a warriors uniform, I don't wanna see him the rest of the series. I don't wanna see him ever again. Dawn, a Golden State Warriors jersey, Nick cattles I do have a disagreement with your Kurai point that the NBA wants him to go to LA. I disagree with that. If you think the emerging Toronto market, absolutely, I if, if you're the NBA, it's similar to the NFL. Right. Trying to go to Mexico City trying to go to London what your priority is as a league is growing the brand, quote unquote, right? Trying to reach those tentacles as far out as you can not only through this, you know, throughout this country, but other countries and with Canada, as I've said, you know, they're starting to develop into a basketball hotbed shea Gill Alexander RJ Barrett. Several other young players, so with that in mind, I think the NBA would absolutely absolutely. Freaking love the idea of staying in Toronto and helping carry that momentum in Canada through the rest of that country growing the brand, what would what would be a bigger boon for NBA ratings, the growth of the sport just to help to the sport. Would it be that, that there is this love of Canadian basketball, which I believe to be there, but I've never seen it firsthand. So I can't I can't say or the fact that you have LeBron in Los Angeles playing for the Lakers, you have Kawai who I think is the best player in the NBA currently right here right now playing for the clippers in on the other coast and the east, you would have teams that Durant would go out to the Knicks, or, and you would have kyri at the nets, and you would have these two mega markets would that be better for the sport? Because listen, I've been in New York City when the Knicks rigueur during the whole insanity thing. I remember taking a trip down there, and I remember going into a bar and like in a November game cattles we're talking. We're not talking. NBA files we're not talking you know late in the season. We're trying to jockey recession. I'm talking about random Tuesday night, and it was like Nick's bucks a couple years ago, and it was packed. There's nothing like when the Knicks are good in basketball. No granted has been. I don't there's been decades that people haven't had a chance to see that. I'm not sure which one of those would be bigger if I'm out of silver. Yeah. I think the idea of being able to grow your brand into really take advantage of time, where things are getting hot and Canada, when it comes to, to basketball, and you have a lot of young Canadian kids looking at the NBA dynamic, like, you know what I'm saying Bron James going up there and being the character that he is. Right. And maybe this is one of the small parts about about him, not being cutting through. Right. Right. He's not that guy. Right. He's, he's not a guy that all of a sudden it's like every single kid is going to be well, he's the he's a Michael Jordan of Canada. See, here's the thing, though. I think we get there's a difference here. I do think people can watch by and respect his game in love what he does and say, wow, that guy is awesome. I'm gonna go out on by jersey. You don't necessarily have to have all the sizzle with the steak. There's no doubt that Kurai is steak. He is. He is the steak, the personification of that saying of steak. Concil. He is the steak part of that. There's not much, sizzle as far as personality and, and, you know, being charismatic and all those kinds of things, there's no denying that, but I do think like all you need is a run in if this Toronto team can go on a run. They win this championship. And if they are contended for the next couple of years, then you start to catch that fever throughout the rest of that country. And I think that's what the NBA would want. Let's be honest. There are other players that can go to LA LA still going to be LA the LA clippers don't necessarily need coup by Leonard. You could put a star in LA in just a very nature of L A, it will work out as long as you have somebody who liked quite because I don't know how many guys are going to willingly, go to Toronto unless they play there and have the experience that Kawais had this year. I don't know how many free agents are dying to go to the raptors unless they drastically overpay that could change things. I mean this run could change things. And I think that for the NBA and. We talk about ratings. A lot of people taught about how the ratings are down for this finals, and they are down. They were down game four again on Friday night. But a part of that we have to knowledge, the fact that the Toronto ratings are not included in the Nielsen ratings that we see. So when you watch the Stanley Cup final, the top three markets are going to be Boston Saint-Louis in providence. When you watch the NBA finals, the top two markets should be Oakland in Toronto, Toronto you removed from the equation. So you know, everybody's making a big deal about these ratings. But if it's exploding in Toronto like it seems like it is, I think that's really good news for the league, and I think Adam silver, says himself, hey, if we ever expand, maybe we can try to have a team in Vancouver again, and this time, what would actually work because of what, what the raptors have done to help continue to build that momentum of Canada becoming an NBA country. Peter burns SPN radio, presented by progressive insurance. Quote by and save on home insurance with progressives, new home quote. Explore. All right. Should we do it? Now mike. Do we have enough time? Yeah, we're going to do it. In fact, I even have a special billboard for this one. Okay. Here it is this, right? Are bless their hearts is brought to you by ageless melt tonight, the ridiculously fast acting, nitric oxide. "It's ever weekly conversation with the head coach of the Golden State Warriors are getting ready to take on the clippers tonight. It will be the clippers and words game six of the first round of the NBA playoffs. What is going on Stephen? Tree Mendes doing doing. All right. Just getting ready for for the game that I did not suspect would be played. I'm sure a lot of fans doubt suspect would be played. I'm wondering if that was maybe part of the issue in game five may be some of the players did not think this game would be played. Probably you know, you go you go up three one. And you go home, you know, you kind of expect to do it. But you know, we've we've got the clipper team pretty well. And they're they're talk. You know, they don't lie down and and. RTD very inconsistent all year. So it shouldn't be surprising. Probably. But you know, here we are. So we got we got turned down and play better. Let me ask you about one play in particular. And I think you'll probably remember this play because it leads me into a focus question of like what it means to be really locked in and focused, and I want to say it was it could have been the first quarter second quarter. I'm not positive. I think it was I, but but the Patrick Beverley drives baseline any jumps up in the air to pass and he throws out to shea Gill Alexander on the wing clay closes out to guild his Alexander on the wing instead of bypassing him to go to Hammond in the corner. And I was talking about like focus like really dialed in like when you know what you're doing. You wouldn't go out to Alex who's not a three point shooter you'd go to Hammett who has an easier shot who is three point shooter. When you look at something like that is that something that. Happens throughout the course of a game. Or do you say if we were locked in? That's not something that would happen. For sure that is a sign that we're not allowed to by the way sham it. There's an at the beginning of it. But that's all right. Did I say ham ham, bone, dammit? Yes. Uh-huh. To blame. Pablo Sandoval for breaking his Hamid bone for saying that you're right at champ. Then thank you for correcting. Appreciate it. No, that's that's standard. You know, you, you know, your personnel especially in the playoffs when you had all this time to prepare and the corner. Three is easier shot than the wind three a higher percentage shot, and she got a better shooter in the corner and the gun the wing so that rotation to be made to the shooter to the corner. And and it wasn't. So that is a good example of one told us we were defensively, and it's too bad because we play very well defensively in LA to really good games. And the letter our last night. So we paid the price and you also played really well offense, thirty one assists eight turnovers in the game. So offense, the focus was there the attention to detail was there you definitely scored enough points to win a basketball game. It was just that that attention to detail that was their offensively didn't translate the defensive end..

"By boogie cousins that he falls down trying to get the dribble and turns it over and he still down. Oh, we'll keep our eyes on that one hears Beverly on the other side of the Gill Alexander cousins is still down the five on four Galadari right side for he hits and boogie. Cousins is limping in front of the warriors. Bench grabbed his knees. Still hobbling in front of the bench have called time out. There's the whistle on a timeout for Golden State and boogie cousins being helped off the court. He's on his own accord, but he's going to hobble his way up the tunnel toward the warriors locker room and that was eight and a half minutes to go in the first quarter. He leaves with that quad injury warriors coach Steve Kerr after blowing the thirty one point lead losing the game. And losing boogie cousins who stopped flying. We we kind of disconnected kinda mid third quarter and lost our defensive edge. I mean, they scored eighty eighty five points in the second half. You know, we had. Really done a good job defensively in the first half. So we we just we we didn't you know, kind kinda mess with the game a little bit. And when you do that, you know, you're you're in some trouble, especially in the playoffs for the training. Staff told you about DeMarcus, what's what's the training staff told you about Mark there's a pretty significant quad injury. So. Will get an MRI tomorrow. But he's gonna be out for I I'll just say a while. I don't because I think it's unclear right now how long he'll be out. But significant what did you think about the offense of kind of rhythm at the end. There did did you think things got a little scattered for you guys? Not only the end I thought for most of the last quarter and a half. We got a little. Messed up rotation-wise with the foul trouble. But that's not the excuse because he would still be able to execute. But we once you once you lose momentum game against a really good team. It's it's hard to get it back. And so we really lost his game mid third quarter when we stopped playing Lou Williams is a very capable score, obviously. But how do you feel about the way your team defended him was that just him getting points where he disappointed in that? Our defense was great for two and a half quarters. And then we stopped defending we start when you when I say, we stopped playing we stopped playing like, you know, defense offense execution wise, we were not as engaged as we needed to be. And we we got exactly what we deserve clippers were great. They executed. They were hungry. They stayed connected. They were together to win in this league. Especially in the playoffs. You got to have all five guys competing and play. Lying and stay with a game plan and getting after it. There's only one agenda in the playoffs and win the game. Golden State was outscored by twenty seven points in the second half were scoring margin in a game under Steve Kerr. Lou Williams second player with a thirty point Tennessee's playoff game off the bench since the NBA. Started listening starters on all of its box scores in nineteen seventy. Down thirty one points before this game. For the most faciliate t-that is ever closed for taking it back to the moment that the momentum and your mentality shifted in that second has got a lot of resolve the halftime we were down big. We said let's get lost in a game. And we live with the results. Confidence him the real thing. We start getting going in. For those who have not been following the clippers this season. What does this win save up the team? So we've been all season, you know, to have it on on a national stage spot young guys, you know, we're starting to rookie guy we go out there. And we fight hard as we can't every night. So it's the case that series is now tied at one game apiece shifts to your home floor in Los Angeles. What would you like to improve upon engaged three? Well, not to get down thirty these guys know how? We just gotta play well for four quarters and just continue to battle. Clippers fell behind. They come back. They get the win from the other side. The other perspective warriors gave it away. Reaction after the game from Klay Thompson back a focus lack of effort just playing with heart those three things then we'll come back and we'll bounce back in put a great passion in a few days claimed first three quarters. You guys. Look you're in pretty good shape for most of that time in the fourth quarter. What happened in your mind? We let our guard down. We we weren't the aggressives anymore. We deserve to win that game basketball. Gosden reward is. I mean open look at the top of key and out happens. We'll bounce back. Open aspect team will we'll get. We'll right the ship. What do you need to do better on the Williams? I don't know try.

"The six threes put him one back of rail and for the most career playoff threes NBA history. He's got his fifth career playoff game of twenty five. Ten five second motion franchise history only behind Wilt Chamberlain and thirteen rebounds ties of playoff career high other than that. How's your night going nineteen point lead for Golden State ninety eight seventy nine we go to the fourth at oracle with John, Barry, here's Mark Casta Scher? All right, Kev. We got some scoreboard issues here. There's a timing issue on the ribbon boards where it says fifty two point nine. It's been frozen. We went to bright calling ninety six seventy nine because that's on the scoreboard. However, our stat monitor and our stat sheet say Kevin mentioned ninety eight seventy nine. Jay thought it should be at ninety eight. There's a lot of confused right now here at the scores table and Ed Beloit gonna call Doc Rivers and Steve Kerr out to have court. I think the twenty four second shot clocks above the backboard, both work. So they're gonna shut down the ribbon boards and just work off the scoreboard abroad. And the timing mechanisms about the backwards. All right. So at Malloy here in planning kind of saying, hey, one-two-three break after said you all right with that. Doc Rivers is fine, Spurs fine. So I believe ninety eight be correct JV on that. Kevin durant? Don't eight. With a going with the board up there. We'll go ninety eight seventy nine. "Are you ready for my prediction? Okay. I'm going to predict without looking guy that we have the same first and second team all rookie. Ooh, I'm gonna predict we are ten for TAC toe. And that they are maybe I'll change my picks up the wrong, and I'll just such a right? Not only that that we have the same first team and sorry. Well, let's see run through. We'll give me your go. Give me I mean. Okay. Luca danni. It's trae young down your eight. Jaren Jackson junior Mitchell Robinson. My prediction is incorrect. How okay my first team is. Well, Luca trae Eytan. Jaren Jackson junior my fifth is Shay gilders Alexander. I thought I went back and forth on him and Robinson with Robinson in the end. I have no problem with that on a permanent basis. Mitchell Robinson has been a first team all rookie level player. Right. I know he has played a ton of minute. Right. So I and to me shape, the minute's difference in the fact that he's doing this as a star on a winning team. And he's been really good and his surge. I think he's like shooting thirty eight percent of. Yeah. Three now. Like, he's had a really strong finishing cake. He's already a good defensive player. He's been really really good. That was enough to get that spot over to me it came to. I didn't really consider. I love Robinson. He was an absolute lock for an all rights, but I didn't really consider him because I just thought shea and Bagley I went back and forth to in all three of them on the plan. This Roberts had done enough. I don't think any of those choices need justification perhaps though, it's the first female rookie spot. Right. And perhaps one of the only I mean people have already forgotten about Jaren Jackson junior. I put him third rookie of the year. Ballot. Like, I think they'd played a few more games. Like definitely what had him third. I think if you had played a full season. I would add him second possible. He was really really good. He's really this working classes loaded like usually that. Usually it's hard to come up with five guys. And the second team is a train wreck actually came up with three teams. No, I say, I have a whole thirteen. I never have snubbed all this. I was going through it today. Like, this working class is really good. Okay. So a gimme. Your second team all rookie. And now, I bet I bet we're going to have the same ten guys. But we've just flip flopped. But give me see. Maybe I'll maybe I'll be wrong again, Marvin Bagley count Sexton shea Gill Alexander Kevin herder and legislation. We do not have to. Rogue picks. My second team is Marvin Bagley who I considered strong for right and call Collins Sexton who I gave a look for first team, but doesn't deserve. Right. Landry shamet. Right. Because he shooting forty percent from three and has been starting on a winning team in a key bench player on another winning team..

"So I'm not sure whose replacement will be so we'll find out shortly. I'm assuming forward Calcutta. So there you go. Atlanta Hawks forward. John Collins and also their rookie guard trae young Memphis grizzlies forward. Jaren Jackson junior and Boston Celtics forward Jason Tatum. So that's the US team thoughts on that. So far the make sense. Yeah. I don't I don't have any issues that deal know, nothing now, I can't think of anyone else that could be on that list. So. Yeah. I think I mentioned Donovan Mitchell too because he's definitely on the team for. Yeah. He is on. I thought I thought that was. I thought that was all ready implied. Gotcha. So he's on the US team. Now for the world team. Ben Simmons who could dance. OG in an OB Deandra Eytan there. It is. Okay. Bogdan bogdonovich. Shea Gill Alexander. I don't know how to say his first rodeo career from via. He's a nets forward. Of course. Chicago Bulls Lauri Markkanen. Timber wolves guard. Josh Cody in Cleveland, Cavaliers, Ford, CD Osman. So that's your world team. What are your thoughts between the two teams deal? One team has a clear advantage over the other. I feel like that the US have a little bit more talent. But like with Luca and eight ten and Bohdan on the other side kind of almost evens out. But I think when you look at it you as as a tad deeper. Yeah. I think we'll see maybe starting lineup. I'm not sure maybe FOX. Mitchell tatum. I would say those three probably start. And then Jaren Jackson, maybe or coups MMA. And then Alan at center. For the US team or for the world team. Excuse me, Johndroe eight and probably starts at center with. Luke picky starting. Yes. Simmons eight and and then you go couple ways where maybe marketing gets the start maybe booked on book Donovan star. He was the MVP the last year's game. If you remember. Who knows? So yeah, I think the US team has a little bit more of an advantage based on the names. Make sense. I think is going to be one of those crucial players in this game though, for sure just seems like the US team has a little bit more dynamic players like the world team. I think is a little thin maybe on the front line, maybe shooting maybe shooting. So but the US team definitely won't struggle for shooting. When you got guys like Kouzmin Mitchell Tatum trae young. They should be able to put the ball in the bucket. So. Anyways. I think we might know we should we should take a break. Come back. We have some interesting stuff going on in the NFL. We should talk about. Also, we'll later on the show talk about Khabib. We'll talk about McGregor. We saw the aftermath finally of. Suspensions and fines will get to that later. Also, a big soccer star from Brazil will be out for a couple months. We'll give you that latest and other things going on in sports, including Tony Romo predicting the super Super Bowl score, which I think we should place a bet on what he says right wag, we should all just go says is put five bucks on that. Yeah. And I four we go to break. I want to talk about you about investing is when investing and planning for your term..

I mean, you can't lose to Colorado state, and that's their first conference win. Yes. By the way. Yeah. By the way, Andy iskoe's, letting me know that it is in Frisco, Texas. So we saw a bowl game. And and again, well that makes a difference. Well, it does. And now, I don't wanna lay those fourteen points as much that's for. Sure. Yeah. Again, this is Andy Iskoe we're talking about. So, you know, can can he be trusted? No Andy comes to sports. He can be. That's I was a little worried. He was hosting with me on visa for a numbers game. Gill Alexander show Gill was off on New Year's Eve day and New Year's day. Could God you couldn't find anyone else. And I it was the time before that it was like the week prior. "And like he would just wave. How's it going shadwick? And and I just remembered that particular story happens all the time. But like it's to the point where it's like just to send the message that Koci. You know, we were here we just keep an eye on you, which we just here to wave. How's it going, right? Because just like in college, you know, right now, it's outside the window. They're not allowed to talk to and under any circumstances. And yet here they are. So it's almost like college recruiting situation. Just the message say like just let you know. We're still interested. We might be playing really well, but we're still interested, right? Like, I mean, like, you know, chefs got Duke plan, really well, but he's got to worry about next year's recruit right right now. I mean, I mean, I just don't even know like does that play the co why you know, you know, if if you're a real famous college head coach Billy, Don back, then Billy Donovan, you know, my chef ski Jim behind, you know, whomever, you know, and you come to a high school game just to watch. It's it's an event that you're just there. But if you're a front office member in oh disqualify, I don't know. It's a fascinating thing. I mean now Jerry West is in the clippers front office. Legion kids come strolls that door. But you know, what is here? But you know, what Cohen knows he lied Jenkins. This. I don't know if he knows who Mark uses. You know what I mean? He certainly knows he Lawrence Frank is. But I mean, I don't know if Lawrence Frank thing in the in the building is, you know, pressing him. I don't know. It's just a fascinating thing. And if a year from now, the clippers get him, then the ends justify the means everything that they did absolutely is all worth it because Kevin can you imagine? So can you imagine that team with co I mean to me? They have to max, lots vailable. So in theory could be somebody else, but Tobias Harris playing so well to me, I think they would want to resign him. But I mean, I don't know how that works with gala. Nari Tobias and co I, but you'd be able to bring back those three because because Harris's capital is actually not going to be very large. It only be about twenty two million or so next year. So you could you could retain his capital and still have a little bit of spending power in free agency for a mid tier guy, you know, slightly above the mid level and co is so yeah, that's one of the really interesting developments Cooper season. And we'll see if it continues because it's been contingent on health. Like, we all looked at gala. Nari is this horrible contract today. The one bad contract they had on the books for nineteen twenty. But I think he's been better than Tobias Harris so far this season. Well, Doc Rivers agrees with you. I mean, if you talk to doc, I mean, not that he's putting down to bias dot. Doc believes the reason that they'd been so good. Although I think they've lost three or five. Is he thinks Gallinari has been the is been the big key. I mean, obviously to- bias has had a great year. But if you think about the clippers if they let's just say for the sake of argument that they land co I and retain Tobias Harris, they would still have Lou Williams under contract. They would still obviously still have Shay Gill Alexander. They would have like as you mentioned around the mid level to add a third piece or to re-sign one of their guys or the other the other thing they should do by the way..

"Now, obviously wasn't gonna continue shooting over fifty percent was going to be as ridiculous as he was a end out if uneven teammates could actually make a shot that might make things better for him. You might get some more assists things might open up a little bit more for him in the land. I mean this team is shooting atrociously from three there at thirty one percent and Blake shooting thirty six percent. So any is the highest volume guy on the team? No one else on the deem is higher than Langston Galloway's thirty four point four percent in that's incredible of lease of anybody who's played more than a fifty minutes. So but and so again, he deserves credit for having extended his game out as long as he has. But I don't think he's played other than the three point during this year that much better than with all you would think the pistons have played that much better than we thought there. Around a five hundred team Indians been a little better a little worse of. So but saying that trade was disaster was never about what was going to happen in the next year. I think those exactly at the time the trade if he said L, what are the pistons? It'll be like house breaking a play. I think they're both pretty much right in the ranger where we would have thought over the next couple of years. I guess he hasn't got injured yet. That's the one thing you can look at. But you know, knows based on the that three more years after this one a on that contract that there they don't really have a way to get better from here. They're just going to be in purgatory as Blake gut begins his general decline. Well, and we should also mention that the things that I was originally figuring Avery, Bradley. I don't know why he's the Avery Bradley ineffective. I'm like, oh, yeah. That's right to buy his hair drink at. Yeah. Oh, and by the way, I mean shade Gill Alexander's who they drafted with that pick me they moved up one slot. "Beat the bookie with Gill Alexander at a pinch. It there for Brady. Cannon Brady's always on Wednesday nights in over Steiner's pub, we always have a good time. So he's literally like the show's over last night. You said KT, listen, I need you to do me a favor, and I'm like, all right? What is it? And you just hate that needs. Like Brady's been there for me many times when I need it. Him to help me out on certain things. So. He wouldn't that friend asked you because it doesn't matter. What it is. You have to oblige you have to do it. And I'm just like going gosh, dang it. 'cause I told my daughter I was going to shoot hoops with her because she's trying to make the high school basketball team. She's never played before outside of shooting with pops. Winston played soccer ran track all that stuff. So lo and behold it works out that she actually had to do some other things earlier in the day. So I was like, okay, it's ten to eleven right around there. So I said all right. I'll I'll jump in there. But you guys know me, I mean, I'm all about college football. Now. I love the NFL. Tune them do really well nineteen eight and two so far against the number over there pre-game and doing pretty well. Eight. As as well against the number. But I said I better hit the NFL a little bit harder this week. And for me, the NFL. I do better when I don't study every single statistic. NFL kazan. I just have too many stats in my head. And then I look at this and that nice way too much. So I've been doing better, but I actually got into it and really broke down the games. We went over six games. And then you had to give your best bed and all this stuff. So it got some good stuff in there. But it was great. Because Marco de Angelo. Of course, Marco's a big Steelers guys from Pittsburgh area. And he liked Carolina tonight. And I went I on that game. I was like man, I wish market would have went. I because he knows the Steelers better than anybody. And lo and behold, I went with Pittsburgh. What happens Carolina? I drive boom right down the field. Touchdown seven nothing Panthers. Since then thirty eight seven run by the Steelers still have about eight and a half minutes to go. Eight minutes to go third quarter Heinz field. Pittsburgh Steelers thirty eight Panthers fourteen. So looking good three and a half actually dropped down to three. And so then I said that too much money going on Carolina. So the books that we all hear all the books lost her ass on Sunday. Oh. What? My dad's like, look, they're not losing. That's why they keep building the things. Okay. Like, you says the bookies drive the Cadillac the guys at bet there on the bus stop. So.

"So it would be going back to the other league to go get relegated to Minnesota. So for his sake, I hope that doesn't happen. But moving on clippers Ben, Luke says regarding player tanking and potential media tanking. Has anyone thrown around the idea that Lee Jenkins is feature writer tanking with the clippers and planning a wild sl comeback later on in his career? What do you think. I thought we weren't supposed to talk about player tanking anymore. But now all of a sudden the idea has marinated and you've come around to the idea that it's possible. Yeah. Well, for Li, I want Liebeck by life, so I'm rooting for this to be a real thing. Okay, you win. So I saw Lee Jacobs last night actually at the clippers preseason game, their team motto should be. I forgot that guy played for the clippers because that's tyrod Taylor. But these guys play really hard gala Nari hasn't gotten hurt yet. Avery Bradley's back from the dead, and they're just interesting their good clean, wholesome, fun. You know, it's kind of like dad take the kids out. Take the kids out for, you know, good affordable night at the arena and catch professional basketball. That's sort of what they're going for here. But Lee looks like he's having a blast now he's doing that classic thing where he's definitely trying to submarine expectations as much as possible. But I think he's hitting the ground running. Hopefully they'll be making some blockbuster traits here over the next twelve months that we can give him all the credit for, but also all the blame for they don't go well, but I've already said a comebacks coming. Okay. Mic could only stay away from basketball for eighteen months. Okay, so that is the comparison point I'm using for Lee. I give about eighteen to twenty four months before he starts getting the itch. You know, before the Birmingham bears, barons aren't able to kind of keep him engaged and and keep his bed of spirit going. And then he'll be back, you know, writing somewhere publicly so that we can all enjoy brilliant work. Yeah, I can't wait to have leapt back at you. You've convinced me that that is like a real thing and that in two years we're all going to be back together. In the meantime, though I plan to save her every time we talk about the clippers because what hearing you try to sell me on Avery Bradley? Good, clean, fun. That's great. We're gonna talk about them a lot more that we plan to this year shutout leads. Oh, and it's a really interesting beat right now because they have like three or four riders on the whole beat, and you compare it to the Lakers and you're talking about two different leagues between the sons and the rockets, the Lakers with sixty people videotaping LeBron coughing versus like Doc Rivers, giving these eloquent post game, press conferences in like three people barely paying attention. It's definitely two different leagues, but I think the clippers have a chance to maybe surprise people to assert degree. I'm not gonna pick up for the play offs or anything rash like that. But I do think that they're going to be more watchable and more entertaining than you might expect. You know, of course, the injuries could inevitably, you know, come back and bite them all their key guys tend to go down about six weeks into the season. But yeah, for now it was a good time I would would recommend I give a thumbs up on Facebook recommend. I say to watch shea Gill Alexander because I've heard a lot of great things about or coming out of summer league. So that'll be interesting. No, he's a baller and he's ready to go. I mean, he's not afraid at all. He's going right at defenders. He is looking for his shy. He's taking contact going to the basket. He's not some crazy above the rim point guard yet, whereas you're just like, oh my God, this guy's like the most athletic player on the court, but he's not afraid. And that's what you want from a rookie point guard. And that's what I'm interested in..

"Did you get for recruiting shack one hundred percent so what's the difference he didn't get one hundred what he got one hundred percent credit for that night that same draft night he had kobe bryant with the thirteenth overall pick and then he turned right around in the same draft and got derek fisher with the twenty fourth overall is that not a good night he not do that he not pick them question how many championships do the lakers win if shaq diesel is not in the center of that lineup in early two thousands even though they got kobe even though they got fisher how many championships her because you said during that period he was the most dominant thing you've ever seen so i just wanna know i gave you that jerry give me his sale pitch what he did to get shock here i wanna hear the pitch imagine the braun it was a slightly higher degree of difficulty lebron this was coming for a year he had his sights on l a for every reason jerry west just made even went deeper about how and i've noticed as an la on my small level people here don't care about who you are as a star on how you get treated if you walk through beverly hills aw well have you yeah i do yeah i just find on my little tiny level here people leave me alone lot more here than they do at any other airport in this country or wherever else i go well they look at me they say okay he's big and black a professional athlete where we just got on a jail he exprofessional years you know look like a hall of fame okay if you don't mind me asking one more thing what was his pitch to get kevin to read golden state none i told you i was the one who told you just knocked on that door so that's my point why are you deflecting attention off the statement he just made is this not a true statement yes it is a skill i have no problem with the statement the problem i have with the messenger that delivered the steak you know the messengers got a little vendetta against the lake because in two thousand he stepped down stepped aside because you know what was going on the front office phil jackson was taking over he was starting to assume more and more of the decision the big picture basketball garage in making and he was starting to establish a close personal relationship with one genie bus and meanwhile jim bus her brother was starting to rise in the executive ranks and the handwriting was on the executive walls that jerry west was on the way out so he exited stage left and he didn't love it because his heart bleeds purple and now because he was what fourteen time all star for the lakers as you know he wants led the league in scoring once led the league in assists he was a files mvp even though they lost the fire the head but but he's a decorated laker right okay logo okay you where you think of him in that laker's uniform i got you so because he was sort of pushed out the back door would he not like nothing better in the whole world then to make the lakers the second team in los angeles you better believe it and the best move st bomber has made so far in owning the clippers was hiring this man just as their their executive adviser he just sits back because lawrence frank is the hands on gm and dot got some of the personnel decision making taken out of his hand so now he's just coaching i think that's a good move so all of a sudden they take shake gill alexander in the first round i've been washington summer league he looks like he's going to be a star he's averaging nineteen game in five rebounds and four sis and he looks he's six six he just looks like a steal in the draft thanks to jerry far skill but a lot of these rookies really good guy i agree with that but my only my only problem is get is not what he said is the messenger because he had opportunities and he got guys that knocked on his door shot with coming he didn't have to show the we one hundred dollar contract so you would've liked to quote better if he had preface my saying i got lucky with shack and i got we got really lucky and golden durant example i'm not going.

"The schick thing to do nasr give or i'm the best player in the draft thirty thirty guys say i'm the best player what what you expect him to plate now come on now it's hard for me to believe looking at the way eight and played arizona the way he can move his feet where he can shoot the three because that's what the games go now plus got a grown man grow wrong that that young fellow is fully grown at eighteen nineteen he is so yep it's hard for me to believe at his size there's a better plan that we never know we never know how thing going pan up three or four years from now but maybe a cleveland was the number what had the number one pick within maybe you could trade that that you really get i say if they were top five you could really trae you can now you can move them thing because there three or four guys up there they would love to have you know eight and bagley junior mobile guy got an eight foot wingspan skill i know watched him he the defensive he's probably one of the best defenders and hadn't fit put in the nba yet because he's gonna be swatting everything now i saw him on so i'm shooting threes do some tall and shoot it pretty well and the three two game but this trae young skip i don't see i don't see how taking a six foot carry urban carry rv skills skillset lebron all leeann that you would be do have career so if i'm the cleveland cavaliers and i truly want a point guard i'm taking colin sects in still there the alabama kid or that gill alexander from kentucky e six five and he's got a much higher ceiling to me than trae young does but i must throw out one other player that we got to watch in the national championship game how about that light skinned kid as white kid about that kid yeah dante diva chins oh yeah stock is rising so if i promise you if i to shannon sharpe and you knew nothing about reputations of these kids and i showed you the tape of trae young's loss in the first round to rhode island you watch start to finish and then i showed you dante even chins oh win imo p most outstanding player in the national championship game for villanova and i said who would you take in the draft i'm pretty sure you'd take dante nobody okay he sits five he won several high school school slam dunk contest so he can get up yes he can get up and you know what key passes it he's not trae young but he passes it pretty well and he's a forty percent three point shooter who comes off the bench but he was fearless man and then gift what he do better sleep and trae young play defense he plays the shot he blocked a dump putin both hands with both hands he can slide his feet if oh i look at some of the numbers he put up against their archrival in the big east xavier number one seed in this year's tournament at xavier this year dante goes for twenty one nine and nine those are big time nba bound numbers to me where i'm saying again will i be surprised if he goes late lottery or at least mid first round i will not for most people he was going to be a second round pick and all i read stock on the rise for dante and in the end i got i'm going on my gut i'm going on my test his nba ceiling to me is higher than trae young agree with that now it's being reported that lebron's camp is more namur with colin sexton than they are trae young true now again but he's an explosive athlete he can finish like crazy as he rosza point guard pass like he reminds me of fox beer and he does his game is like that it's they look a lot yes yes la herkyjerky place yep quick but at the end of the day skip you're asking a rookie to come in and contribute play heavy minutes because like i said we thought jason tatum was okay but we never would have no 'cause then hard for me to believe that jason tatum would've gotten those minutes if gordon hayward was pulling healthy hard for me to believe that if hard for me to believe that carry because they're gonna put.
