"If it's snowing in this area, it's likely raining in the Bay Area, which means slick roads, let's go to Gianna Franco for a look. Yes, it makes it for a pretty tough Saturday morning drive so if you are getting out and about, you've been warned by extra careful out there grab that umbrella, give yourself some extra time 'cause it is a little busy in some spots whenever we get a crash and we do have one that is still stuck out there on the roadways it's westbound 80 in Berkeley right at ashby that right lane is still blocked. They call that sweepers to the scene because apparently one of the vehicles in the crash hit the orange barrels off to the side of the roadway and those are filled with sand those attenuators. So that has been scattered in the right lane. So they kind of have to clean up that mess there. So it is slow looking at our mapping system, tracking some speeds down to about 25 mph coming out of Berkeley all the way into emeryville. So that will affect your drive if you're headed towards the bay bridge early this morning. Speaking of bridges, the carquinez bridge was found near the toll Plaza, new crash just reported there. That's blocking one lane as well, seeing some brake lights as you approach the scene. And we are getting reports of a stalled vehicle stuck in lanes. This is east 5 80 at fruitvale, so just be careful there as well. Looks like there's also some debris in the roadway and you might come up on that one pretty quickly if you're traveling eastbound 5 80 this morning. If you want to skip the roads and use public transit, you know, for the most part, everything seems to be on time, Bart though I was reporting potentially up to ten minute delays system wide and that will be due to those retin wet, I can say that. Weather conditions out there. All right, your next traffic update at 9 18 Allison and back to you Chris on the traffic jam. This is for everyone. We appreciate it. And looking here at the forecast at the radar, it looks like a J so the top of the J is going to be

Biden Begs Supreme Court for Loan Forgiveness

"Let's get into the news the day here because we have the president thinking he can wave a magic wand and somehow turn around the courts on this whole student loan debacle. Don't forget this was struck down. It's not constitutional. They say, well, somehow he's going back at it again. He now has a lawsuit. He now has a lawsuit that he's taken to the Supreme Court because the Biden administration wants the Supreme Court to revive. His student loan relief program that would forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for tens of millions of Americans. You know what this really is about. Unfortunately, it is about politics because if they actually cared about fixing the system and making sure that more kids didn't take on debt, they couldn't afford it. They'd actually put it back on the colleges. The colleges that are sitting on billions of dollars in endowments were in the colleges are ones with the money. Let's be very clear. And the colleges took advantage of the system that the government, very poorly set up, which then took advantage of a lot of kids, of course, I still believe Gianna know what you're doing when you sign on that dotted line. We have gotten such a massive academia complex that really rivals what we saw once with the military conflict. Remember how back in the 80s everybody was pointing to that big giant military complex they hated it so much. We have the equivalent effectively. If you would in academia, and it's not really serving our country, it's not serving these kids, and it's landing them in tons of debt because, hey, you get a blank check and nobody thinks about having to pay it back. Meanwhile, colleges are out of control in terms of what their inflation rates are because, hey, it's free money. What happens when you have free money? Have we not learned anything over the last couple of years anyway, the Justice Department said in a court filing on Thursday that it planned to ask the Supreme Court to reverse an injunction that was issued earlier in the week by the 8th circuit Court of Appeals prohibits the administration from carrying out student debt relief separately the Justice Department is asking the 5th circuit Court of Appeals to put on hold a decision by a district court judge in Texas to strike down the debt relief program as illegal because hey, why not?

And you know his younger brother was murdered. And I didn't feel like I could just contact him. It just start discussing it with him. Until I could see that he was more comfortable to discuss it and has because he wants the perpetrators The Killers brought to justice. And so I asked mister producer to reach out to him, so we can do our part to help. And Gianna Caldwell, I've always been a big fan of yours from afar, and I'm sure this has been more than horrific. To you and to your family, but welcome to the program nonetheless. Thank you, Mark. I really appreciate it. And I've been a big fan of yours for many years. Gianno Caldwell: We Have to Uncuff the Police

"Named Gianna Caldwell. Gianna Caldwell is a Fox News regular. I see him on social media on Fox News a lot. Young black conservative who suffered the unimaginable this week when his little brother was murdered in Chicago and as painful as it had to be as difficult as it had to be. This strong courageous young man gianno Caldwell felt a need to appear on national television last night. I come here tonight as it, a man who feels shattered. My baby brother, Kristen, who just turned 18 this year is no longer with me. He. Was a good kid. And certainly knowing that living in Chicago seemingly comes with a price these days, but I would never have intended or rather expected that it would come with a death sentence for my baby brother. Black bodies are being littered in the streets of Chicago. And it's not just impacting African Americans here, is impacting everyone. You can't go downtown Chicago. Now without looking around your shoulder, you may be shot there. The truth of the matter is we need to uncuff the police and that's what's happened. The policies, the software crime policies that have been pushed by many of the elected officials here are only causing more crime. They've only bared dead fruit. And now my family is paying the price.

"Want to talk about your song, hold the line. That one, it really stayed with me. And I know you wrote this about Gianna Floyd, just 6 when her dad, George Floyd's murder was filmed, sparked mass demonstrations around the world. I was in Minneapolis when I watched Gianna smile and say, dad changed the world. And it broke me watching a 6 year old, looking for meaning in her dad's senseless killing, being told that her loss would finally change the world. See that child. Can imagine was running the young man I remember hearing the news and watching the video and eventually seeing Giannis speak. And my first feeling was like how devastated I was because here we have the 6 year old child having to address the free world on how her father was murdered on TV and I was just like, I wish he could have been a kid a little longer. I remember when I realized that because I was black, my life was going to be different than the white kids I grew up with. And every time I see black kids have to grow up that fast, it just, it sends me all the way back, you know? It's horrifying and it just broke my heart. Take my life. Trading my. Life he had everything I wish I had. I can't even lie. That song just like how I am now is just a bundle of emotions, you know? And I think that that's okay. How

"Potential team member to be the one talking for the most part. So in that little of that time period is when they are that's when during that time is when they're kind of seeing like yes, this feels good. We're both jiving during that time during their solidifying. We're going to get you in next week because we have every Thursday and Friday, which are some of our slower times available for these skill tests and in office sit downs with these people. Sure, sure. So that's when. So we want to make sure during that 15 minute Zoom call is this person serious. Are there any non negotiables that don't make sense? And then we get them in for the next and then I can go into that in just a bit. And that makes it so I think like you're saying too and it depends on the position. I think that's important to note here. So with regards to skills testing like back office positions or things where maybe they're not specifically admin positions, I think that those getting them into the office to do an in person interview and then skills testing makes more sense after the zoom interview. My process, I mean, I'm constantly hiring for admin positions, right? That's I'm part of my side gig at GSD queen. Anyway, so but I love the mini phone interview like just get them on the phone. I usually just call them up cold and say, hey, this is, you know, I or Gianna, if you're listening, Gianna calls. And calls them up and just says, hey, this is Gianna. You applied for this position. I just want to touch base with you real quick and kind of feels them out because I think you said you're going to get a lot of feedback within that first call. Like if they don't even want to talk to you, if they don't even if they're not even interested at all, that type of thing. Then you can move on from there. But my question is for admin positions is, hey, you know, you had applied for this position. Our next step is that you take a skills assessment, would you be, you know, it will take about an hour, you have to have a desktop or a laptop. Are you open to taking that skills assessment? And then from there, they tell me if they are or not, and then that's when I'm sending it to them, and I'm not doing a full interview until after they've taken the full assessment. Now, for all legal purposes, you're supposed to speak to speak with them first and not base hiring off of the sales assessment. So that's why we talk to them first as well. But that saves us time with regards to those zoom interviews. And for admin, it makes more sense, I think, in that capacity when it comes to in person hands on working back office or hygienists, that type of thing. That's a little bit different. So that's how my process differs just a little bit, but I think that it, yeah, you just, like you said, find what works for you. So you're maximizing time. I hate bringing people in for an interview. And then later I learned that they don't know how to spell and I'm having them email constantly or something. You know, it's just, it just doesn't make sense. You read our minds. Is that we had the same problem, is like if we were getting them in a few times talking to them a few times, sending a skills test later, we just found that all the different steps were making it to where I do believe in, you know, I know they say like higher or slow fire fast. The problem with that is I'm like the slowest kind of subjective term. I'm like, I'm not saying hire the first person that sends in a resume, but I think that the process needs to be streamlined to which your maximizing the time. And respecting the time of the other people. And if you guys are like me, you know, my own team members are strapped for time themselves with everything. So for us, you know, part of ghosting is, yes, that quick, that quick phone call three minute phone call, move them to the 15 minute, you know, the ambassadors of culture kind of sit with that person, let the person feel kind of who we are, what we're about, do we jive and resonate. At that point, they get them scheduled usually within that one week period of time to come in for a skills assessment. And you know, for us, we've really changed it to where, you know, gosh, I don't know if I'm speaking to anybody else when I'm saying this, but I have to admit, sometimes people would come in for whatever you want to call it, working interview, skills assessment, whatever you want to call it. And we were slight bit frazzled. I felt like. And so this person was coming in and it was like, you're super important. What's so happy you're here? People just, you know, a little bit chaotic, or you kind of throw them into things. Well, it's funny because I was like, doesn't that go against everything that our core values are? Which is servant's heart, disciplined and professional. Accountability. Like, here's everything who we say we are. We get this guest into our office and world whirling dervish of madness sometimes. And I don't know if anybody else is like that. Maybe it really is just us. But I don't think it's just you, I think..

"Kim welcome to to professional troublemaker. Oh my god. It's also thrilled to be here. This is a long time coming long time coming too long to low. Always start off by asking my guess. What did you wanna be when you were growing up. fun fact. I actually wanted to be a sports medicine doctor really so i have a passion for sports. Okay and really for me. was very curious about medicine. And actually my undergraduate degree i went to syracuse made and so everything by way of my preparation was to go to medical school so sports medicine. So how old were you when you realize that. That's something that you wanted to be. So here's what i'll tell you. I think i feel like. I thought i wanted to be a doctor. Probably as early as junior high. Not quite as young as elementary. But i think i'd junior high. I kinda develop that curiosity around medicine and then i played sports in high school so i played volleyball and basketball when i got to syracuse. They ask them okay so listen. This had a scholarship for basketball to yale. Oh did not go to your obviously to this day. My father does not let me live that down. Okay i'm gonna bring you way back because this is fascinating okay. So five year old. kim. How was she. Okay let's back that up okay. So kim started school at three years. Old ooh okay. And so for. Kim went to montessori school. I started early. Kim was also advanced a great. So i tell folks. Nothing i do or have done has ever been conventional started school early advanced. The great graduated fairly young. I pledged in my teens. Alpha kappa alpha. Oh yeah it's like so but going back to your question. I think five year old cam actually still has a lot of the characteristics of forty something year old count. I think i always was a people person. Okay i think i was always operating from a position of excellence. I put pressure on myself. And i remember this even as a child i wanted to beat you in everything that we play like kick ball. I want to win. Like and i want to win. Not by you know two kicks but by ten So i was very competitive. i think as I looked to areas sort of where i tried to kind of position myself. As a team player. I think even the end and having played soccer as a toddler to montessori school so i was kinda raised in that environment of like you know we have. We didn't sit desk with chairs we were taught to be. Free are thinking won'- the room with blocks and all that good stuff. We call it our teachers by their first name. Gianna oh no i'm burn. No i will never forget him. John berno and it was. It was really cool. My my parents like you know my mother's educator. So you know grew up. In the fact where my mother started as a schoolteacher and so you know we will come home to kids. We didn't know sitting in a diner on the table because my mother really kind of operated like you know it takes a village and though our who is it you know but i think i develop that sense of community and responsibility to community by saying my mother embodied that early age and so she was an educator teacher there became an administrator retired as the superintendent on my father was in public service I grew up where he had been on the council city council but even before that school board So we would have kids. We were sasha malia without knowing way bag win do on parades my were you oldest oldest of three. I'm the oldest. Three pitchers like my dad was the mayor you know. And so they're big plaques with you know his name and we're sitting on his lap and council chamber. My dad is pretty well traveled. He you know has served as an ambassador. Un ambassador he served as undersecretary hoods all. That's where i got a lot of my service responsibilities.

"I don't know i. I don't know exactly what he wants in money starts doing the beautiful mystery and i don't know where we're going to be in. I'm living for the moment. All of those things nice incorrect but really hasn't given any sign in terms of. I wanna go here. I want to go there. I'm gonna do this. I wanna do that so we don't know we don't know i mean. Does he want the love. We see the free agents on the market. In terms of you know wide receivers get himself Number two receiver to complement the davante adams. So you may get a willful or the fourth. Juju smith schuster. A corey davis get an upgrade at cornerback. I mean are you going to be able or the packers going to make the move to try to spend the money to get themselves. Ah corey davis reggie smith schuster or a willfuller or this is gonna go ahead. Graft another backup quarterback. We don't know we know. No but the likelihood of rogers being traded asking for a trade zero. Where's it gonna go. What situations kennedy goto. That's better than the one that he has right now. In green bay people talk. Well san francisco san francisco san francisco. You're gonna try to tell me. The skill players for san francisco are better than the ones in green bay. I don't think so. Yeah you might have a kyle. Shanahan abdul offense a playcaller which could be heaven on earth but seems to mean fluorine. Too bad either. Mean the opportunity to play with. Sean payton intriguing. Maybe go to indianapolis. They have a lot of Cap space and play with and be the quarterback for that team under right. Okay maybe possibly but take a little of the skill players on that team. There's no one. There's no number one receiver michael. Thomas isn't better than devante. Atoms tice yeltsin is that better than Davante adams you take a look at the wide receiving corps upgrade. You take a look at that team in general dylan upgrade. I don't think maybe rogers is like well. You know what. I'm so fucking great that you put me on the new orleans san francisco and indianapolis and i can elevate. I knew what brady did. The season within going to tampa bay elevating some of talent. I don't know. I don't know. But i i know one thing is that he's a beautiful mystery. What the hell is aaron rodgers talking about. I got mystery. Forty metre jefferson. What time is it. Oh here's a clue. You're wearing a watch an old jefferson's for those my age. You should know won't talk about what they're joke number seriously. Man i i think i just think it's a situation where where we're speaking about. Twenty twenty one season that aaron rodgers will be back at the quarterback with a green bay packers..

"Just i don't know anything in playoff his in recent years with that egregious. But i think any way you go. I couldn't live with it so they call pass interference hooting and hollering and screaming. And i can't believe it's unbelievable this bullshit. How could they do this. How can do that and the other and if they wouldn't have called pass interference. I wouldn't have been jumping on. Seagoing can't believe with this bullshit because again the way that they were call on the game you could easily said that there was the holding there but the path was i believe deemed to be uncatchable but they call it pass interference and that was the ball game that pass interference call for green bay. If you really agree die. Her green bay fan for me. that was worse than matt. Leflore going forward on for them. If you really really thought the way the game was being called now at a minute. Forty six to the situation like this third damn now all of a sudden you look go by the book now the second on a call that when you haven't been calling something similar that all game long shit damn fucker you kidding me again not egregious again. Not if you're green bay fan on what boycotting the nfl and have a connection and all that kind of stuff but it was tough. It was tough to take because you could. It wasn't like also it wasn't like immediate as soon as the ball was over the head. It was kind of like was it was. It wasn't yeah wasn't light overhead flag the media. Really you can call the you can call the the the the secondary degree. You couldn't call the for holding more than anything more than just pass interference. But i digress. Oh look it's easy the point sit there and say oh you know the reason why green bay long after being the why they laws care believe with bit even if they don't end the argument is look even they don't make him a fourth down you pin tampa at their own eight yard line..

"Gonna get better right. I mean they need to find themselves number. Could you imagine this team with a decent number two receiver. Could you imagine if tyreek hill had a number two receiver. Michael irvin head with the alvin harper. Could you imagine if team had a john. Taylor go alongside a tyreek hill type. Could you imagine how potent this offense would be. Could you imagine how incredible this office could be. It's already at that level. So my my my deal is there. Everything is based on the unbelievable greatness. Patrick mahomes playing at a higher level of domination in any qb. Over the last ten or fifteen years. I really we played mainly unbelievable. Peyton mailing was incredible. Peyton manning with brady thing and then we've had this young group of quarterbacks coming in and the way they played in the way the league is moving in a different direction so the classic pocket passer is becoming more extinct every single season. But sometimes i think we're kind of forgetting management away from the game for a few years but when manning was rolling with With the colts when he was in his physical prime. I think we forget. How absolutely dominating absolutely great. How great he was but with indianapolis how many championships that he went one with mahomes. He's already won one. He's playing for another not to sunday but the upcoming with the next sunday after that he has just begun. This journey. Patrick mahomes has had a bad year yet when peyton manny came into the league through tornado. Twenty eight interceptions. And he used to. He would say he looked when i first came into the league and i started playing quarterback my thing. Was you know what. I don't care if marvin harrison had the entire team. I'm throwing the football because i had so little confidence in myself to read and do all these other things. Which is marvin harrison. Marvin harrison marvin harrison. That's one of the reasons. Why pete many many interceptions that he did. We haven't had we haven't seen patrick mahomes. Go through anything right. That patrick mahomes hit the ground running like he was a eight time.

It's going to be more than possibly the one hundred fourteen million that watched the patriots for seattle super bowl. Forty nine for the two thousand fourteen season can be more than two hundred. Twelve million that watched seattle versus denver in new york. City is super bowl. Forty eight which is representing the two thousand thirteen season. There's more ways to watch the game other than just your standard Sitting in front of the tv that their phones and ipads and ipods and all this other stuff but for the most part man this is going to be a hell of a game. This is going to be a very intriguing game. Casey is going to be attempting to become the first. Nfl franchise to repeat since the patriots. Did i believe what. Oh three or four. But when her job search a dead end, she went back to seasonal fruit picking work. She's been doing since she was fourteen. At the end of one long day she tweeted about farm workers like her being paid seven dollars for two gallons of blueberries. She then asked how much do you pay for your blue various? I had talked to her I did and learn so much about her path to medicine as a first gen college student indigenous rights farm worker's Rights on. We'll consumers need to know about the people who make their food possible. Jeddah. Where are you right now? I'm Linden from California Palo Alto our new you're back at school ivax going out here. I always remember those summers during college going home in it's. It's so strange because you have all this independence when you're at school and then you come home and your parents. Treat, you like you're still in high school, right? Right and every time I go home. It's just there's just a large expectation fairly for my mom is my own expectation that I should be like helping my mom in linked doing some chores and like lightening her load guy at school it's like you're right like complete freedom I do whatever I want whenever I want. Do you perceive your mom to have a heavy load Yeah absolutely. I think she's our only period and. I think that you know we go to work and she has to come home and make them some meals for everyone. There's five of us and she kind of like cleaned for Yooglie of she loves house being cleaned. So I help out with all those things whenever I can. To Lot Yeah You're born you're born in Eastern, Oregon, you grew up in eastern Washington state. Told me about where you grew up. So Eastern. Washington is very different from Seattle. I think that's why. Like columnists conception that I. Get is that the thing it's just like satellite super rainy it's actually not. So eastern Washington Eastern Oregon both desert in the rain shadow of. E mountain range. So we get like very little rain, it's very conservative. There's very little diversity out there I think the main communities of color that live out there my farmer communities in the needle in communities I think it was a great place ago by the you grow up because it is so rural. There's so much nature around there so much like the outdoor activities to do Saigo peron alarm really enjoyed around a lot of fields. So my working in the field I love Eastern Oregon eastern Washington I would love to go back someday is that the plan to go back? Yeah. Absolutely. How old were you when you started working in the fields? I was fourteen years old. What was your first day of work like? I. Think I was super excited for my first year. We're ten years ago. And they all super excited because I would get to contribute. Tie Household I, think the causes for me was like, okay I can use this money to go to my mom to make your life easier and then she would let me keep some of it so that I could spend it on what I wanted to nature's like take my siblings than I on a shopping spree for for school. So he went to buy school supplies in. We were very excited like Bonnie backpacks unlike brand name markers and stuff like that. I have three younger siblings. So they were all little and they were excited because we had never done that like I think I'll. Getting. The bare minimum that we need for school and now it's finally like being I was able to get them whatever they wanted. Is there a story from childhood that captures who you were as a kid. I think one story though remembering like me, my mom and my sister was. Going to do this activity called Battle of the books where there's a selection link. Eight books that read it's handling a quiz bowl style where you just like recall parts of the book and I've always loved reading and so we were remembering that I read all the books like my sister was on my team even though she was two years younger than me in the elementary school and she was like, yeah, you just carry the team and you like because remembered everything and I think that that was super emblematic of just who I was of like my love for reading my. Or. Competitive data. Just like a real enjoyment for school and like why The promise of my mom always wanted to go to school didn't get the chance to and so. She was always telling me and my siblings like, Oh, you go to school a you do all in school. It's GonNa take you to a Lotta places in. So I guess those just carry me through life

"Eighty Kobe Bryant superstar in the NBA obviously will be a whole Famer among the twenty thousand at staples center for Monday's celebration of life a who's who of the basketball world surely wasn't lost on folks over the first four speakers at the memorial but as a Bryant Diana Taurasi Sabrina Ionescu you and your family trump is not a clear message of just how much women's basketball become part of the Bryan family life an emotional day overall though just intensely from the undefeated if it looks motional on television it would have been a hundred times more in person people in the crowd were hugging each other people in the crowd crying initially during the actual ceremony like nobody nobody knew there was a sense of excitement there was a sense of shock remember also sent you wouldn't it would be actually walked onstage that I've heard rumors that she might be performing but I don't know if you're actually going to perform but the energy throughout it was reported in these also very sad that this which felt like the up by now would be if at least one part of the grieving process and there wasn't a dry eye in the house from the press row where I was at did the men and women and the kids who were in it and it over twenty thousand people every year which is one of the most emotionally draining but it also depends on beautiful experience of my life that was the feeling at staples on Monday as for the cloud that's been over LA for the past month all Ramona Shelburne is in Los Angeles it's actually more of Toby the last month right and we have he retired a vintage bike everywhere everywhere you go it's photos of him and videos of him I work where we're playing his words will playing games or you know you drive right away that the girls everywhere there there's there's like over eighty murals of Kobe in Los Angeles Kobe and Eugene G. N. L. I mean it's like it's everywhere you go and so I mean it's it's interesting because like you know on the one hand you know it's like he's gone in your and you already feel like them all out you know we we miss them and and you know there's the processing of that tragedy but on the other hand it's like I don't know that human beings can exist in a place where we feel this bad for that long right like you know when you're in that green apple apple first week it was like everybody felt so bad and it was like everywhere you went you would view photos and videos and like I actually think some people might like it too much right it's hard every human being to process that level of badness go back to that first game I think kinda help people move forward afterwards because it was like the first game Stanton it's like the last couple weeks it's it's been like you know you you kind of got back your life right we've had you know a lot and then there been meaningful basketball games have normal conversations and then today cool it was white everything felt all over again right especially when and I don't know everybody had different reactions said today by I I'm never going to forget but nothing blank any up there doing that like I mean I don't even just seeing her walk up to the fate I just started crying I was like oh my god the remote and that's kind of the jumping off point that I'm in all watching and the point that you made afterwards was you know a lot of this was also discovering the power of this woman because for so long she was never in the limelight by her choice and also will be probably fulfilling that you said in terms of protecting our children from the aggressive media that want to get to know the goats other half and so in a way this is her kind of showing us this power of this of this person on such a tragic stage right yeah I'm not able to put it like look I I know Vanessa from you know thank let her in the hallway outside the locker room right you know she he went he was always nice that allow she was like she's a mom you know like every time I saw her she had to have two little girls brings honor you know it needs repairing related values games will be like ten o'clock at night like the girls are falling asleep right so she could she would like them to do and mom stuff and I mean I can relate to that rate like you know home you know you just you know you want to say hi and you guys like I got the sleeping baby on my shoulder you know so she you know she's kind of bed that that woman for a long
