"And I realized I started to see the through line in this actress work. Yeah. There was excitement when this actor was young did some great stuff and then just kept repeating repeating, repeating, repeating and. That to me is not ever something that I aspire to do. Right because then it's just a, it's just a con game. Yeah you, gotTa. GotTa? Hustle you know what means he's the guy that does the thing bringing. Let them do their thing. Yeah but and a lot of actors they they get the opportunity to be on television that intelligence change in the Golden Age Major told you now used to be you got a TV show your is death and I've been blessed to to be able to come in on the tail end of never wanted to do TV, I want to in do film had to work through soap operas, work our way through a lot of guests, spots, and and then eventually get to film and realize that was my opportunity to always play someone differ. That's what that's what. Allows me feel like I'm still learning Oh yeah. Well, I think that's definitely clear with you and also like you know I'm not trying to be condescending about these actors because I think a lot of the a lot of guys you have a lot of space in their actual personality you know have room to to sort of they they might actually feel alive. Through characters Y-, you know it doesn't mean they're they're emotionally you know stunted or something, but but just sort of interesting. That the people that you mentioned as being authentically themselves are of my favorites as well like you know Gene Hackman you don't even know where that comes from. You know I feel like you have something similar to him I I, read an interview with him once. Where he said that I don't remember who he was talking to. But he just said you gotTa know how to fill yourself up like you know that when a scene started, he could you just when you at him you like, Oh, he's. He's filled himself up with whatever that is. But he's still just gene Hackman but it's just he's you know he knows how to fucking Phil himself up. And Yeah and no matter what he does you gotTa, you can't stop watching them. I watch to sandwich. Yeah. He he he is one of my favorites. he he happens to live up in. Santa? Fe I believe as does a woman who have had a crush on for my whole life Shirley maclaine Who has worked a little bit down Downton. Abbey recently more recently than I. Think team but jeans retired I think, right I believe he is retired. Yeah. Do you guys hang out? You Know Him I don't know I would like to know him. He affected my formative years in a major way because he was as you say, always filled up at wonderful way to put it and am now but I think about it in many ways you know last year I did five TV shows in I was doing better call. Saul very stayed very controlled cat. I read a lot center myself dropped myself on you. I wouldn't be in myself trying to figure me out I would be observant. And calm and you know when people are really really calm can be a little disturbing well that was so that was your ticket into gusts. That was my ticket into gusts but I was also at the same time playing a very. A character that's delicious for me. Adam Clayton Powell senior in a show called. Godfather. Of Harlem about the journey of Bumpy Ellsworth Johnson a gangster there. Yeah. Adam was a congressman reverend preacher womanizer, and so I had the opportunity last year to flip it. And to put myself into his skin, which in a way is difficult to to play historical character. I. Feel like it's a great responsibility to get that right Oh. Yeah. Man I. Just I just talked to Carrie Washington yesterday and I watched her do Anita Hill and man to cheat fucking lock into that shit locked it. Yeah. And so that's where I wanted to be with pal. Yeah. And he had a big larger than life spirit that when you if you, I looked at such material, I read his congressional record. You know he was a preacher. So preachers man, they're showman you know at the have an opportunity to be a showman. And it was fantastic and then yet see him he was also a lawyer and congressman and he was throwing. His his his personality, the face of the white dixiecrats during the civil rights movement. Yeah. And he was vying to speak at the march on Washington Yeh Scandal in Paris where he took an assistant and another woman. With him and they accused him of anyway a using the government's money. He beat that and a bunch of other things because he was really about his his truth was he wanted equality for black people but the way did it was colorful and fun. No interesting and so they had to play that cat You know was a real blessing for me. Yeah. It helped me realize that you know. I'm the contractor that likes to have fun within the sandbox whatever that is. Whether. It's huge and big small and controlled on I. It's allowed me the availability. To know about history to travel the world because after all. I just get in there read. So I'm playing a cop I'm riding along with police officers a month before I start the role. So I learned about all these different occasions I learn about all these different things in our world that I think I would be less likely to know if I wasn't an actor. Yeah, Oh, for sure why I mean. But that's part of I think your spirit you know that you you know you're sort of embracing life. You're passionate guy. So that's part of your craft is is is to have these experiences off the screen? As you entered the the lives of the people that you're going to become. That's right I I. Never WanNa do it the same thing over again? It was a really difficult for me to make to move from gus and breaking bad in better call Saul because I didn't want to repeat I think though I feel to me that you know if I remember correctly because I'm watching both both series. And I love I love both of them. But yeah, it seems to me that that you were able to add a another layer of depth to him with Saul. Hope. So I want him to be a little more vulnerable, more hotheaded not so control the six year. It's years before breaking bad so that when you put those book ends together, then you have, you see.

"A singer. She knew Pearl Bailey I knew Ben Vereen went to see Pippen I lo-. I wanted to be in a way Ben Vereen but I started to realize that African Americans black people as we call ourselves. Now, we were the entertainment. And I really wanted to move people from one place to another. Yeah. I didn't WanNa live by color and just live by doing black shows, and so I started to do plays. Because I, felt like they were really important part of my growth. So Oh, so you're saying as a younger man, you were a song and dance man. And when you had that realization, it was not a a proactive realization was really sort of like I've okay why Amazon and dance man but I don't need to stay a song and dance man. I wanted to make a move. I wanted to make a move to a place where I could be looked at more seriously. And have the opportunity to explore a craft that really was a craft retraining. I was training I worked at at the I trained at the Actors Institute. With two wonderful teachers Dan Faustian David Kagan. I didn't I didn't over train but that was my acting cutting my teeth in the acting school were. And then I'd be sorry do extra work because I wanted to learn about the camera. What was that about? What was what was this inanimate object that was film? And I was doing extra work and I got called into a movie called the change late and there was a scene in Lincoln Center outside and Guess who starred in that movie George. C. Scott it's a weird movie. It's a weird movie. Strange one to make a horror movie right. So Weird. Horror Movie. Weird horror movie. Yeah, and You know this is a number of years later and before tax and he breeze by me without even knowing who I was recognizing I was crushed. Anyway. Because you WANNA yell I'm doing it I decided to do it. Of course I did. It's me don't you recognize me? That was a missed opportunity but great opportunity to be in his presence and then taps came, and then we were able to reconnect that he went. It's you. So you dated you didn't take my advice. You did it anyway I? I'm impressed that he remembered telling you that. He he did. And maybe, and then I got a chance to speak to him about. Where I had come from how historian affected me and how? Maybe this wasn't the right thing to do is is former wife Colleen Dewhurst handed me my first theater world award a Wa I was able to say look I I started do straight drama and colleen I wanNA theater world award for a piece that I did Iran Samba company called zoo man and signed by Pulitzer Prize winner on Charles? Fuller he won the award surprise for soldiers story. So that's my little George C. Scott he affected my life because he of his forcefulness. Yeah. His attitude he was serious. He was a serious serious serious chess player I, never forget on taps you got a four page monologue. And never had the sides or paper in his hand ever. And he came out and he did a rehearsal, the monologue, four pages to the cadets with which I'm one Sean Penn.. Timothy Hutton on all about sir standing in front of him and every single time he did the monologue. When he got to a certain place, he takes his hat off. He touched his the breast medals on his breast plate. He would. He did exactly the same every single time and sorry followed him in between. Because I wondered if he was going around the corner to studies lies when he was don't. Followed Him and. He would go back to where the eighteen wheelers were. Camera truck and there was a chessboard Seta. And two chairs one cat sitting there. He'd go right back to chess game and play chess. This do do this. He was his his his brain. He's like a steel drum. He was such a consummate performer and I was really quite amazed at how he could remember all that and not only that remember what what he's continuity right? His choices were yeah. Specific continuity choices right I feel like he was very hard on himself maybe I'm wrong. I don't think you are wrong. I think he took on an amazing an amazing pressure to be. I would say good but I don't think it's good. I think it's original. It's an amazing pressure to be in his own skin. I think that's why he never stopped drinking. I think it's never stopped smoking because I think that was an intrinsic part of who we watch yeah. Yeah like. And who he was was he was always in the middle of that fight with himself so. So you're kind of entering that intensity. I'm here. Yeah you're doing his his battle, his war. That's a really great way to put it because I see I don't know why because a few months ago I gotta I gotTa Watch all the George C Scott. That's available because. I don't know when. Hit you because he he was always a I remember seeing Patton when I was very young but I I, there was something about the authenticity of just everything about him like there was no denying. That guy and I don't know why popped in my head relatively recently to to to re visit it but it was really intense man 'cause there was there was not. There's not a ton of Shit. You know he he could have done more but he did he did a handful of things but there's not a huge filmography there no no, there's not and I feel like he he was a guy who really lived it. Yeah. And you know there's something about look I came from the song and dance world and what does that mean doing musicals? Musicals. Is You know there was some drama there and certainly. The drama is overextended because you've got to reach the last seat. And the turning point in my life was going to audition for taps while we're on this movie for a casting director long gone who white so respect and admire surely rich and..

"giancarlo" Discussed on Messari's Unqualified Opinions
"Some people who tell the tale of their Caribbean fall down a rabbit hole Back insists you understood the need for transparency in terms of legacy financial infrastructure whereas most people. I think that I get into bitcoin. See the Fed money printing and Fiat currencies and Keynesian Economics. And they eventually just say you know what we need to blow up everything. Trach I find that. In more recent years particularly people that have deep financial experience like yourself. The temptation is not there to blow of everything. It's you look at what has worked. Traditionally at what works with producer is uniquely and then try to figure out the intersection. Curious soup initial going to bitcoin right show. How do you feel about Bitcoin? As an asset right now versus underlying blockchain. Technology is a meal of sorts in two thousand fifteen after the last election. That you know blockchain good. Bitcoin bad from from like legacy financial players that has started to to move in the other direction quite a bit but I do still feel that if you're from traditional finance your bureau area of greatest interest is still stable. Coin side of things versus crypto acids over. We're GONNA we will talk about stable because I think one of the biggest trends of the year to order focused while time right now but how do you personally and how did the commission rapids head around? Bitcoin is an asset from a regulatory standpoint Drums of where the dividing lines are and how you actually define the asset and the the entities were actually facilitating activity whether it's trading custody. What have you around that particular ESA light? Well first of all I. I believe that the that the the concept that bitcoin is inherently designed to be off the governmental or regulatory is not inherent in the Toshi White Paper that comes separately in fact. It's totally white. Paper talks about Bitcoin as a means of not being to avoid the intermediation by commercial entities by banks and others. But not. There's there's no reference there to being Regulatory Government grits and so so I think that that belief in it comes not necessarily inherent to its original design but is that others that that may believe that they're welcome to believe that but I don't think that's inherent to bitcoin itself To get to the point about how we dealt with Bitcoin. You know there's an old saying that Where you sit determines where you stand if you look at the different Institutional now talking about a government statistical approaches to bitcoin. If you almost identified the nature of the institution you can always determine how they stand so take take central banks for example central banks of Island economies and Bhai Island economies. I include not just islands like Bermuda or Caymans but also island economies like Switzerland or Singapore. That are basically offshore banking centers for Continental Economies. They they have long tradition in safeguarding assets. The whole value proposition choice economies to safeguard assets from continental countries in Europe. The same is true about Singapore so for them. Bitcoin is just another asset to be safeguarded and protected. And therefore you look around and you'll see the the regulatory developments that are coming in the spices from Bermuda to Malta. To to to Switzerland to Singapore are very open to this asset class because it follows a tradition. That goes way back. If you look at continental large economy central banks and I take the United States aside per second their initial reaction. Bitcoin is very very conservative to the to the almost disdain at some point to to A fear in loathing in other cases. Why because they're safeguarding. A DOMESTIC CURRENCY. That has broad not just Domestic use but reserve currency status so their concerns there. Then you go in. The United States however didn't fall directly into that trap because the United States has a long tradition of innovation and because the dollars reserve currency status is so strong that I don't think the the US reacted with as much fear and disdain is other continental economy and central banks. And then look at look at market regulators. Market regulators traditionally see a new asset class as one where their concern is primarily orderly trading in and and and regulatory Consistency and orderliness. And that's our orientation that was at the scene with one. I think that unique element and that is unlike most of the world's even market regulators the C. T. C. has a process of self certification. Some some very wise early an earlier generation. Realize that if you asked a regulator a politically appointed regulator to approve a new product. Chances are likely they'd ever approve it. Why because if something went wrong that could be a hindrance at not a permanent into their political career. Cftc does and again uniquely. I've compared this to other market regulators around the world see if DC commissioners do not approve new products. What we do is we. Ask the exchange to certify that the product needs a series of core principles and if it does the product goes forward so when Bitcoin came to the F. T. C. We were very concerned that it met the core principles but once it was established that it did the path was forward in fact it almost became a case of preserving that. Cfcc unique approach that any any attempt to stop. Bitcoin futures from being launched would've actually done more damage to the traditional structure. That it was. So it was your. We just want to be a little bit more specific because a some of my listeners alarm bells might be going off when you say when Bitcoin game to the CFCC So so talk about that process because obviously there was no company bringing bitcoin so to speak. So when you when you say they are your furnace. Markets futures products particular. Yes so let me drilled it twenty fifteen to see if TC is part of a broad review of new asset classes declared bitcoin to fit the statutory debt Lee CFTC the Commodity Exchange Act statutory definition of a commodity. Then over the next eighteen months there was a lot of interesting intellectual debate around that but the idea gained a foothold in twenty seventeen. Cftc was approached by two of its registered exchanges the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago board options exchange about their desire to self certify bitcoin futures for trading on their exchanges and. That's why I said when Bitcoin came to the. Tc It came intellectually in Twenty fifteen as an analysis that the staff did when big aimed commercially in two thousand seventeen as a first informal alerts by this exchanges. And then over the course of the next several months formal self-certification notifications that they intended to self certify these instruments and launched trading on their ages which actually took place in December. Twenty Seven T. When does something like this? Get to your desk. Or any of the commissioners desks because I would tend to think about the market cap for the the degree of trading that was going on in a. Maybe you have a sandbox through. That's looking at emerging assets out. What points beyond. Just an exploration and a talking points memo Did you personally or any other commissioners personally Oxford Algebra time to these rocks so the exchanges are quite astute. They they know how to both work with the staff in the formal communication process. But also a visit with you know. Coal scheduled time to visit with the Five Commissioners. Alert them as a courtesy. Matter as to what was coming down the pike that they would be submitting formal self-certification processes address any concerns. Answer any questions and that was taking place all throughout the I would say in the end of the fourth quarter in the third quarter and throughout the fourth quarter of twenty seventeen. I can't tell you offhand. Became material right but in two thousand fifteen. I remember meeting with A number of Commercial Bitcoin proponents that. We're launching early. Exchanges that were doing other financing others so I joined the commission in June of two thousand. Fourteen I was aware of bitcoin. Just a myself before. I joined the commission. And I remember as a commissioner in two thousand fifteen twenty fourteen early twenty fifteen beginning conversations with the number of Players that are still well known players in the BITCOIN space. Were you able to purchase? Bitcoin was early trading restrictions at the FCC low okay so couple of things one is the CFTC does not restrict Its employees from owning commodities. Right because if it did. They couldn't put gasoline in the car and put bread on the show. Right couldn't own coins So the CNBC and to the extent that the CFCC determined that Bitcoin was a commodity the C. D. C. Could not restrict its employees from owning a commodity. I made a personal decision while I served on the commission not to be an owner of crypto assets. Because I recognized early on it would be a major issue for policy development at the agency and I want to be able to speak to that policy development away that nobody would ever questioned my own personal interest so if I was an owner bitcoin. People might question my integrity in policy about now I did say in my hearing in February two thousand eighteen where I was received the moniker of Crypto Dad that might I have a niece? Who is a big AFICIONADO? Who owns earn got into bitcoin. Very early honest done very well in that regard and I believe my children. Our own crypto assets. Although I don't I don't want to know too much because again. I don't want people to question whether my policy position are in any way design to help families economic interests when reminding when did you leave? The Commission mows the date. July twenty one thousand nine hundred okay not to own crypto assets because I remain outspoken. On the issue of CRYPTO. And you said you still have some you know. "Christian Yelich might be the next superstar in sports to put pen to paper on a massive contract the brewers India which are closing in on what is being reported as a nine year two hundred fifteen million dollar contract now if you're like me when you first hear that nine years and two hundred fifteen million for Christian Yelich who was the MVP two seasons ago any runner up for the most valuable player award last year when he got hurt and missed a month you're probably thinking to fifteen does not seem like enough and I would tend to agree with you about that he is taking a dramatic discount to sign this extension which is basically seven years a hundred ninety million in new money when you just saw it the rain don't who hadn't been in the top two in MVP voting over the last two years in the National League get seven years and two hundred forty five million to go to the angels in free agency when you've seen our unato in Colorado no one or not get a massive two hundred and thirty plus million dollar contract over eight seasons and here we're talking about new money seven and one ninety for a guy who might be the best player in the National League the deal was first reported today by the athletics some of the details of trickled out of come from ESPN's Jeff Passan he's got this basically yellowish would play the next two seasons starting this year on his current contract so he's scheduled to make I was about to say only how funny is that only twelve and a half million in two thousand twenty and then fourteen million next year but you know I laughed at that as far as the production B. provides and and the elite performance is gonna provide Daddy's shopping in the bargain bin that's finding one of your favorite movies in the five dollar DVD been at your favorite electronics store so the extension for that seventy one ninety would basically kick in for the brewers in two thousand twenty two and go through two thousand twenty eight and there be a mutual option in the final year in twenty twenty nine but you go back two seasons ago when Yelich won the M. V. P. he established himself after leaving Miami where he was an excellent hater and a lot of folks felt like maybe he would win a batting title at some point but didn't get a lot of help we did have a lot of production and protection rather to go along with his production there just weren't players around him as good as him to help him out as they were going to getting rid of all their pieces Giancarlo Stanton Marcello's owner he was the last guy standing so we got to go to Milwaukee and give it a try there and immediately flourished completely took off and became one of the greats in the sport and for my money right now this moment Christian Yelich of the brewers is the most underrated player in baseball which might sound ludicrous considering that he wanted MVP award is finished in the top two twice in two years but I still think when we have conversations in this industry about who the best baseball players are Mike trout's name comes out of everyone's mouth first then you get some of the bigger names that maybe don't even belong in that conversation right now based on performance like Bryce Harper Manny Machado those types but who is the second best player in the sport yeah which might be the answer Cody Bellinger won the MVP award with the Dodgers last year is in that vicinity I'd say there's a a four player tier behind trout vying for the number two seed in the sport with the yellow shoes twenty eight Ballenger who's only twenty four just barely starting to think about Mookie Betts becks is now twenty seven went from Boston to LA this offseason in a deal that took forever to consummate and Alex Bregman the twenty five year old villain now with the Astros who is so much better four in the wake of finding out that Houston Bregman has cheated over the last couple of seasons at least dating back to seventeen and some of eighteen that they've admitted to Bregman the MVP of the American League last year in my opinion ended up not finishing right behind trout and I kind of quantify things as non trout division because he should just get the award every year so I kind of say well other than trap who was the MVP this year you're competing against a legend the likes of which is going to go down as maybe the best players ever lived or one of them no one of the mount Rushmore baseball stars essentially and a guy that you'll meet people listening right now we're not gonna see another player like him probably in our

"giancarlo" Discussed on The News & Why It Matters
"Today on the news and why it matters the DOJ administrative review into the origins of the Russia investigation has taken a major turn into a full fledged criminal investigation. "News it's fair that's the right you have their hand up in fingers out and they'll say five they say five we have I I mean I it's tilting towards that player improves Bob trusts him that player goes out there that player play interested in Blackman say the name of Bachman in this game but he's a second year player he was drafted as a fullback he started as a centre back in the playoffs against lot Abrahama Vich and he was good we see for Dennis to close a became a part of Giancarlo gonzalves not one of them but you're already had seven centrebacks on the roster what we're going to do about him so I would be shocked to see five or six of these names even on the team next year then we saw in the starting lineup that frontline next year as Pavonis Alessandrini Cheeto in the middle of the scar one hundred fifty goals tonight's game on whether it was his last in the last quote it's not about money I have another two months that's on his contract we will see what happens Mike because it also sounds like it might be about that's the type of thing you say when you say if you want people to watch you pay me more money I don't think it is and from like he he didn't do the pre game interview with ESPN and he seemed a little not rattled but annoyed and tailored tweeted out and said one of the Galaxy Representative said he's been like this all week I think some people took that as he's locked in but I took it as he's just kind of a bit annoyed with hall thing and the way maybe the season's gone and you could say there's a million arguments you can make a million different directions one is he's done everything he can the team hasn't put a team around him why should he spend more time trying to make this better you could also say that he came inside concord he didn't win a championship but he's been one of the three best scores in the league over the last two years after he blew out his knee and came back in a new place and did all that so nothing would surprise me but if you're let me to put a guess on somewhere I'd say he's not playing soccer next I got well it I think you're wrong about that but anyway I gotta ask you this what grade do you give Garam Barrow Scarlata for this year now there are extenuating circumstances those circumstances there's lots on anytime you are managing a team was slapped on that is a very very real I'm going to say it's a limiter on what you can do do both with Latin in with the players around now I would not give him any higher than a B minus I think why I think his job was to to construct something behind slot on that wasn't just a complete seve and it was just you had to find a way Eh get some semblance of organisation you had enough especially when pavone came in special players to do a three man game and attacking sense it can work was Unin pavone and fill in the blank even if it's early on tuna in major league soccer you just have to find a way to get your bit-part players of the guys that you picked up have you don't fit for Denison closer maybe we'll never be back but who cares it might be last year the galaxy you gotTa Win some symbols of Organization and structure and competence see defensively to get a better than a B minus grade in this sense he's inexperienced coach he's done before he's been in shaping which I know he's had more talented at Boca Juniors he's played in this league the crew when he played for them if I remember correctly you were not some expansive team he was a difference maker he made the Batak around him better it was down four four one one he played completely free role they had Allie Marino as as a centre forward just dragging defenders around it just to open it you had an opportunity to Kinda almost two structures one is Latin and whoever the hell is up there and the rest is the rest of the team guys just dig in Yeah figure it out getting your blocks don't teams have easy goals and this team I'm GonNa make a guess other than FC Cincinnati probably gave up the most like Oh my God what goals are you kidding me right now that's what how did that happen I agree with you I think it'd be minus is probably a good grade yeah probably for what's going on and I I love Guillermo so for Sir I felt bad going in part of this lots conversations I'm fascinated to see what he does Latin doesn't return like water the allegations he looks like under his vision the way he builds after that a little bit of time but I don't know that he was that creative with formations to say like I gotta figure something out we'll make the post is in but here's my four weeks test this and here's my two weeks attest this and I think in places you mentioned for Bob Rally a young guy will learn and get better where did we see that right who Leonora who played well and then all of a sudden Ralph John Fletcher's the difference maker now John Carlos Gonzales is you're right back the he had three incredible central midfielders they could never really control games like why was that night the tiger let's just see if we can get our foot on the ball on that will be our defending is well control games so grew with we I think a lot of it unfortunate wasn't good enough from him but it'll be interesting to see in year two if he doesn't have slots on how he chooses to play how his team you can kind of understand why it was in some ways because it was like the island of misfit toys and a lot of all these different teams that failed and then they come in you have Gonzaga on your Guy Z.? You lose all of a sudden you have expectations that are always over the maybe the capability of the team especially this era where they've been to close at one year I think you've got to start judging my next especially there's lots on you but you better have had a plan and I expect they do we'll see what that plan is before we move onto union Atlanta to know what you think about Bradley's Will Fang his little spots are who I really respect as a journalist I loves me I think he does a great job I think he's the future broadcasting US bilingual aspect of it with Mexico and the US and legal maximum loss be mashed up into one place he was very dominated his questioning about Carlos Vela and whether Carlos Villa had finally stepped up in a big game and Bob was incredulous and perhaps rightly so in the moment What do you think what do you think it was one person's job to ask obvious questions that everyone in the world is thinking it's another person's set up there to answer those questions I don't think anything that are asked was ridiculous I mean he asked the question he has and he asked the question everyone else and he asked actually and he's set bob up to say there's no chance anyone could say what you just said anymore he was phenomenal tonight he's been phenomenal season he's EP of major league soccer he's the best player this league's ever seen and he's going to go in and MLS Cup yeah it was that simple but it was fun the way it happened Bob a stupid Bob knows a good. TV's Bob knows everybody in that locker room is going to see that see him sticking up four to see him sticking up for for his best player the heartbeat of the team many messy the MLS messy like I I'm not saying like I I'm certain Bob's emotion in that moment because you could see he loves Carla I'M CERTAIN THAT EMOTION and was real but I'm all I think it was somewhat calculated for the to to make that a moment say like see they're always going to be asking this about what s let's go kick set go Seattle's as was win MLS Cup show every let's shut everyone up forever that's what that was I like it if that's what it was I like it I enjoyed it he's like look there's an ESPN ESPN notification that goes out after that you don't see that for they get that for the win I don't think like let let's just if that's what it takes man like you have all the historical rancid it's out there but you know how I feel about this league sometimes flavor man give me some flavor and Bob Bradley absolutely did Elliot C are moving on their the low number one seed remaining they just got to win one game and if they do that most couple in Los Angeles at Bank of California Stadium talk about it on Monday because we're that's the nice thing is Monday comes and we can really dive into Seattle L.. AFC and I just throw something out there sure I would be shocked if Seattle won that game I think that it's going to be more comfortable than the game we just watched this is the third tune in on Monday that producer honors a noted satellite is that the right the right phrasing for that unders Seattle Seattle ish person who's he's not happy with us that's fine we don't here to please you unders let's talk Atlanta Philly Alanna do what they do they win at home in the Playoffs Limitation Games it's eight in a row so far this year us Gut Communist Cup into the Audi twenty playoffs couple of shutouts Philadelphia great season great season Talla gap town gap better players bigger moments we also had this thing where it's like Philly I have eleven great players they're a great group which means they don't rely on one person but unfortunately that also meant if anyone got hurt they were behind the eight ball and you're not going to go in a scenario where you have all eleven guys healthy for every player Front Josie Outdoor Omar Gonzalez are out right Walker Zimmerman and Mark Anthony Care out so every you're always gonNA have injuries miles Robinson and Michael Parkers now not to mention Lee win in that previous like Mark Anthony Cares out loud wind came in and hit a decent philly doesn't have that former MVP game and Broncos on makes a phenomenal save but you as you watch this game it was hard to see where the goal was gonna come from four Philly and I don't think it's knock on them to go on short rest to go on
MLB playoffs: What a Game 4 rainout means for the Yankees and Astros in the ALCS
"Six so your mother nature won the battle when it comes to Major League Baseball American League Championship Series no game four on Wednesday that was expected game four is going to happen on Thursday night eight o'clock eastern time on ESPN radio and ESPN at both managers had to speak on in terms of the benefits of a post poll game first AJ hands of the Houston Astros gives everybody if they often have an opportunity collectors cells before gas for changes are pitching a little bit how beneficial it is probably easier to answer after I see how guys perform and how the pitching plays out but I guess it's kind of a wait and see but I does solidify who we starting game for game five without having to go to a bowl game and Yankees manager when it comes to a player coming back that'll be another conversation even though he hasn't been able to go yet I gave you and then the potential option off the bench in the heating situation if we like something so I don't look at it as were entirely twenty four man right now I do believe we have as bad off the bench right now and whether a situation for that arises we'll see but will continue to evaluate the best smartly as we can move forward to do you some Giancarlo Stanton who believes will be another battle of the bands I firmly believe this whoever wins game four will win the ALCS I think the Yankees the win in six I'm not going to back up that prediction I think the day off could help both teams if you the ask George W. pitching if you the New York Yankees get a chance to maybe get a little mo Jo back at the having a bad slow down losing game two and game three either way took the toll the after the better team but I believe were wins game four win ALCS I think with that team is going to be the Yankees may because I picking the winner six I'm not going to back down from the production right after those in seven sticking with the Astros in seven I don't care who wins game four the is starting pitching to me is the key to any post season team surviving in advancing as a great Jim Bob on a one seven kind came the NC double a tournament surviving advancing in M. L. B. post season all about starting pitching to me and the the best rotation the best horses on the hill goes easily with the Astros and wears game seven in Houston if we get there that's it that's the kicker right there for me is if the if the giving gets to Houston and then for the Yankees in the E. if it goes seven that's their long relievers and when they become leverage real relievers when I never heard of that before tonight before you mention that four different stories I read today will leverage really quick what noted is is is is like mold management became part of it and yeah looks at this and everything in long re yeah leave our yeah or just read the verse they haven't had to use on and three more than three figurines all season now you can ask them to go for for the first time ever with everything on the line and you put that pressure on you also we about stress innings right in stressful pitches in well this is a little bit more stressful than they've had to go through the entire regular season so to me it's all about the starting lineup Yankee fans they don't want to hear it but great he has not been good the post season but I got some guy even if you win game forty Riverland there in five then another duty may have to face call Gerrit Cole who is like the modern day version of sandy Koufax right now you've been unavailable since may so he scuffled by his standards with five walks in seven innings that's coupling is scuffling but the Yankees lineup will make you sick awful I don't believe the Yankees are intimidated or afraid of these guys now I agree with that as well then we don't have the Yankees getting in touch with their inner symbols cardinals and the national back like Houston Astros because the national thoroughly intimidated the Saint Louis cardinals that team was beat up on the feet of the metagame for even got started they had no chance of winning that game even they tried to make a comeback at the being now seven nothing I think the Yankees fully believe having a day off would be the perfect a mixer for them to get everything right because there's not a pitching staff that they don't believe that they can't handle no matter how terrific those guys are lander Reekie as well as call he's if it's in the Freddie Coleman Freddie if it's Simmons on ESPN radio Sirius XM channel eighty of the yanks are going to knock a who was sensational the start this series in game four but he doesn't go a third term through the line up because the analytic geeks say well when he goes through a third time in the line up they they're hitting three oh nine if the guys in a groove right you mean the mother figure out what he's tipping or what he's missing in that third time through you have as many brains watching all these stats and in every game figure it out but in this situation may have to knock a is it in a groove you leave him in there but they don't want to do it they haven't done it and now Freddie it's one that drives me nuts you know right you got this guy who's who's dealing through sex you probably because the numbers say so that that drives me insane the Astros don't do that even though there is number geeky is anybody maybe even more so than anyone out there right now to get involved with trying to steal secrets on the cardinals when they used to work for them all about **** now that'll to do holes what two hundred articles on again but AJ Hinch is one of those guys that's also eyeball if you're rolling man you're sticking but I'm a sticking with you so that's why I like it the Astros you no matter who wins who wins tonight I think that that that that night all this postponement favors distros because now you've got green key Enver lander both on regular rest and then you still have even have great he has gone up the skirt a couple times obviously the post season you've got overlander and coal Berlin under in coal you got to win two games I would put my money on those two over whatever the yanks so out in a leverage relievers and then you want to throw at the astronaut I look at it this way by the way we had read Ryan the present Houston Astros he joins earlier on Freddie if it's Simmons he knows exactly how good these Yankees team is and he knows this service is far from over you know I love it it's it's a great great route your current kicks back to fifteen we played in the wild card it obviously seventeen we win the World Series but what what a great seven game series the home team won one all the games and this year we we took four out of seven from home and you know we won three at home they won the first it was the final game of the season that that you know we ended up winning and here in New York and so all of these games get their nip and tuck it's a dog fight and just because we're out to one side does not mean that that this thing is over if it were a cruise control because that team their Yankee Stadium they're stacked we've got arms they've got power they've got great players all over the place cash did a great job with that club together and looking around and got a couple of stood on the bump and that we got you got you can swing it pretty good it was amazing that when the Yankees won game one everybody's like while they beat the daylights out of the Astros which they did in game one no doubt winning seven nothing the Astros win game two in game three the Astros are in control of this series of bacon all on a second control be three one to me yeah two one they're not in control of the service as I was yeah that me it if you're gonna use that tack with the out of being in control is saying that the Astros are in control my god Ian watching the MOB network watch ESPN and others forgot the baseball people on TV and was on radio all many **** how control is there's a two one you'd be amazed how many times I heard that today they got the point us okay I'm I'm not gonna be part of definition sandy with this kind of stupidity going out there get that one game in the series means you're in control no it doesn't I think this thing's going seven it's going to be epic then the only reason I like the strokes is because of what we read Ryan just mentioned there those two horses they've got on the hill Enver lander and cold at the Yankee still have to face what is your major league baseball you need this to go seven the NASA took care of business if you got a potential rivalry like this with the met in the playoffs two thousand fifteen two thousand seventeen and now two thousand nineteen you get a seven game series and now you have a cross country robbery so to speak was not these two teams in the same division or two teams on the same coast you got the big Ole boys in New York City and a good Ole country boys down Houston colliding in the series if you have that kind of heat that you can generate you could potentially have your latter day forty Niners cowboys or paid many versus Tom Brady because you got a big city I got a bigger city without a baseball city when it comes to Houston if his goal seven it could do Major League Baseball a world of good that they could have never imagined and never even had to beg borrow or steal if the Yankees Astros give us and Major League Baseball with the looking

"Because he's terrible the start of every season. All right. So just stop talking. How about that? Stop talking. It's not like he actually helped the Marlin situation before. Oh, yeah. How many winning seasons? Did we have with Giancarlo Stanton? I think it was zero Giancarlo Stanton. Such a winner such a leader get the hell out of here. How about good about little baby stadium in New York and hit eight hundred home runs? All right. Yeah. Baby stadium. That place is a joke. You could I could hit it out to right field opposite field with the way that stadium is constructed. What a joke. He should've broke the home run record last season. Why didn't he because he's a bust overpaid overrated? Homerun rush. Homerun record or bus when he was going for the home run record down here. He no he wasn't going to get to seventy whatever it is seventy two seventy three whatever the number is now. So he came out with that. It was a heavy play. My record is sixty two. I'm okay, how about get to sixty. How about that fifty nine? What a joke you had a week to get three extra home runs. You couldn't do it. They had those things. I'm never going to even know what those things were at season tickets. I was going to all those games. I could resell those tickets and made some money, and I didn't because I wanted to see you do something that you couldn't do break this fictitious home in record that you're going by. It's not even the real record. And the Marlins hung these things from the roof in the outfield that year, and I was trying to figure out what they were. And I'm assuming they were going to do something when you got to sixty and we never figured out what they were gonna ask them. What those things were because there was stuff hanging from the ceiling on the inside of of the stadium, and they were going to do something to celebrate something. And I couldn't even figure out what they were. They were going to do something to celebrate telling you there were like fireworks confetti or something that they were gonna shoot off when he did something memorable. And of course, he didn't do anything memorable classic Stanton. So. You were never this kind of fired up Giancarlo Stanton. At least I don't REM I know that his his slumps would frustrate you a little bit. But I wasn't this fired up driving in today. I don't know what you guys did to me, but he's agitating shots. Unnecessary shots. Seven eight six four five six three seven. If you want to get Giancarlo Stanton. A piece of your money is a little odd that Loria and Samson they had this reputation of irking some players even stained didn't get along. He seems an admitted that there was like one a moment of friction between the two, but jeeter sort of picked up right there with some players just being p owed atom JT. These are young players JT for JT to have some sort of egos. Kind of weird that JT forced his way out of here. Yellow doesn't like staying doesn't like these are two of the three are MVP's. One of them is an all-star Derrick jeeter one of the class. He has players in the game for. Him to already start having these relationships with players and it being contentious helm, I suppose to extend him the benefit of the doubt for later on if he's already agitating everybody. I think it's different when you like he didn't have relationships with these guys he's coming in fresh. So like, we had all these relationships we like roommates or yelich, STAN. And he's just like coming in. This place is a mess. I gotta do my thing. I can just imagine him in those meetings. Being like, look, this is impersonal this business. You know, no BS, you're probably going to get trade. Like, I can just imagine him being honest with these guys. And that's why they're like that's why they're all you heard yell at each other. Like, I want out there reports low key that yelich reached out to the Marlins last season. Midseason and apologize. Really? How that whole thing went down. Oh who reported that? I don't remember good. Look like, they're obviously we understand why they're frustrated, but it's never a good look when you're like I got contract, but I wanna also has to do some PR spin speaking of PR spin..

"Just a little weird against them. Now, I love canal the first player out of his mouth, Bryce Harper. I love canal. He here that boomer. I heard that Brody van wagon in just acquired Bryce Harper's favorite player. And he goes, I know that sounds funny 'cause I play against the now you can play with Robinson canal Bryce, wouldn't that be amazing Keno canal? Robertson. Oh, oh, the Robinson could oh that we just acquired that's going to be here for the next five years. You mean that Robinson? Oh, that's funny. Robertson Cano who who'll be wearing a Mets jersey and a Mets hat today at city field. That's your favorite player. No, it's crazy. Okay. Some can I ask you another serious question. If you'd like since you seem to have like this whole conspiracy theory of things coming together. I get it. So here's the question. I have for you. How much are the Mets going to be paying Bryce Harper since you got all these tickets already salt. Why what what do you think? Dragged the length the term and the and the attorney turned down deal for the natural ten years three hundred million. Yeah. Yeah. That's what Giancarlo Stanton had with the Marlins. All right. So we're going to have to go gotta go a little higher than that. Right. So either we give them the ten years. We can give them a ten years to thirty six. We can give them a ten years. I love canno-. I mean, he also might take a canot discount. No there is that out there. Connote discount gets the play with his favorite player. No, no discount. Stop it. I already see the back headline of the paper. Like to know Bryce Harper quote. How could I have said canal? Steal. I love casino. So I would say are you, okay? "You know to to stanton nine and driven a deep left center that ball is high peta's bar headers gum game winning and i woke up allround by giancarlo stanton can't carlo no the wall stope hey hits to unglassed us stand tony and home run and the yankees have come all the way back five nothing down for a seven five victory in one of the great games of the year what's up what's happened welcome to another addition of the short porch i'm your host hubs alongside me right next to me tommy smokes thomas capelli's say hello hello what's up john carlos stanton he's a we have a good thing where like we trash agai on here or if i tweet like pick it up unless you need chasing shriek you pick it up joe curl stands picking it up pick doubt was we joke sometimes not joke about earning your pinstripes sometimes we just get roped into fullfledged serious debates tree yankee moment earning his pinstripes whatever cliche overused thing you want to call it that was that moment for people ripping on me for that for my when i quote tweeted run or whatever that night and it was like john hands earned his mother fucking pinstripes i mean he did i mean it's you hit a walkathon and a game like that against a very good baseball team where they were dead they were so lifeless about five innings gary ties it was dick pic gary engine carlo there two straps that were slow were the ones that came up but i mean you earlier in the year you like he's earned his pinstripes ready which i don't even know what that even meant like when he hit a home run against boston in april the two home run game in may i don't know i just to me like i said i don't hold those pinstripes into highest don't either maybe i read should rethink that's also very stupid debate where we're getting roped into the fact that we're starting we will we'll both we both agree that and a lot of people should agree that the whole earning your pinstripes sneakily cockiest thing in sports right it's like so it's everything people hate about yankee fans to be like it takes guys a months to earn the right to where our jersey and this is coming from people who are watching from the stands who are just buying these striped jerseys and wearing them is hilarious yeah and people point back that people didn't say a rod earned his pinscher until six years sankey it's not one person is jared right it's a stupid debate to have but let's just put it this way and it was a signature moment that he fucking needed badly because he had seemingly come up in a lot of big spots this year the moment finds him and he just wouldn't arod he would roll a ball the third base you know whatever granted del play at the ship it out of him not wednesday night wednesday night he pissed on on a baseball and it a full four it the launch angle was seventeen degrees and it went four hundred and fifty three feet it's near impossible to to hit a ball like that out of the stadium at all a shot i mean it was like one of the those home runs where you know right off the bat that it's over and then it's gone engine carlo new to like a labor homerun judge home run it just had that feeling and the fact that it was such a moonshot makes it even more of that awesome moment like it was like three hundred forty foot shot out to left field at obviously cool but it'd be different but the fact that in carlos stanton who's known for hitting moon shots a moonshot and ryan's cooks reaction was incredible shit the moment i mean the moment contact with you if you freeze frame it no one in the in the home plate behind on plate has even like put their hands up yet and cooks head is already in the ground basically he just left his hand.

"Get a settle into new york handled the media get comfortable in the clubhouse all of that is used to a very different situation in miami from what you've seen so far how is aaron boone handling him as a manager and how is stanton settling in from a comfort zone standpoint to the with the yankees nuclear power from or your government for giancarlo bearing with the media earlier today broke with paul o'neill her story that will be running tomorrow morning of out with the biggest adjustment giancarlo carlos gonna have to make and paul a guy coming from cincinnati a small media market just like miami or a smaller market media market he said he's gotta get used to every effort at mattering everything he does being under a microscope and answering about it every day because he's the man he's not used to that yet he's going to have to get used to it he so far campbell bat part well when you talk the giancarlo he doesn't wanna talk to you and that's fine yeah we're reporters you should be much rather be talking to his teammates or doing literally anything else but but he does offer real honest introspective responses and that's all we ask honesty accountability and he's provided that so far now erin boom he looks like he's campbell giancarlo well but he's also still handling what 60something other guys and tasks to he's hoping that giancarlo can handle himself considerate use the maly create your and so in other words he'd rather get a root canal than than talk to all of you guys but so far stand hands hit handling it like a pro but we certainly seen randy johnson and others who who have and always handled that adjustment coming into new york that wealth so credit to him that so far seems to be doing okay there another sort of big picture themes so far that we've seen spring training coming in brian cashman had said that he wasn't going to let the years of control arbitration clocked be a factor in terms of who wins starting jobs and.
