Trout, Cole top 65 to earn $100,000 per game
"Mike trout and Gerrit Cole aren't the only major leaguers with a big financial incentive to get back on the field well they had a quartet that would take in more than two hundred thousand dollars per game an AP analysis has found that sixty five players would earn at least one hundred thousand dollars each time their team wins or loses if the delayed major league season gets underway most Iraqis and those making the minimum would get to about thirty five hundred dollars each every game added to the big leagues schedule earns players about twenty four million dollars and

NBA trade deadline: Winners, losers and teams in between
"Flurry of trades in the NBA a blockbuster in baseball mortar common colds to memorialize Kobe Bryant and highly visible way joined by ESPN's Howard Bryant good morning hours good morning Scott how are you I'm fine thanks is awesome aggressive deals in the NBA trade at the trade deadline who do you rack up as the winners and losers well and I'm not sure about the winners and losers of the trade deadline but certainly the winners and losers right now of the first half of the season you've got a look at the Lakers in the west and and the Milwaukee Bucks I think they are head and shoulders above everybody else how could you hold on for a moment our you know head yes government for you almost got me for a second there's got yeah Milwaukee is terrific and and they're great they're holding on the crushed Philadelphia the other night I thought coming into the season it was gonna be Philadelphia Milwaukee Los Angeles and Los Angeles Lakers and the clippers but I'm not too sure about the other two yet but we've got a long way to go I think trade deadline wise I think Miami Heat got much much better they got on great good dollar they made a very good deal with Memphis I think that Philadelphia tried to shore up of making a deal with with the warriors and de Angelo Russell going to Minnesota who knows what that's gonna do maybe there's a late run there but the bottom line is coming forward right now I still think that you've got two teams in this league disappointed the Boston Celtics didn't do anything but I think it's the box and the Lakers right now an official memorial for Kobe Bryant's been set for February twenty fourth they've been calls to make his image a permanent part of the game you even rent a Poland that did I did I read a little Twitter poll this morning which was soundly rejected to replace Kobe Bryant is Jerry west to is the logo of the NBA with cut him a cell away from the silhouette of your request yes absolutely and it would have been fitting in some ways because Jerry west was the the man behind making sure Kobe Bryant ended up with the Lakers making that draft day trade with the Charlotte Hornets and I I understand add on one on one level the need or they want to want to memorialize Kobe I also understand that the NBA has been around since nineteen forty seven and maybe it's time to create a new logo Jerry west has been there fifty years since nineteen sixty nine however I do think that if you're going to think about and I'm a new logo or and a modern logo it's probably got to be Michael Jordan right or but I got an arm and a leg yeah but I also understand the desire right now for people to feel that something should be done for Kobe Bryant after after all that happened Boston Red Sox LA Dodgers Minnesota Twins switching sports agreed to a three team trade Tuesday that's been perhaps delay it has been delayed because of some medical records Mookie Betts has what they call a generational player MVP Golden Gloves traded to the Dodgers are the red Sox making the worst roster decision since they sold Babe Ruth's contract well if you red Sox fans are very happy about it especially because it's a generational player Mookie Betts is a beloved player two years ago he wins the M. B. P. and they won the World Series you're looking at a guy that fans just adore and it's a very cynical move in some ways but it also may very well be a huge business deal for them because number one we know that super star players now at this level after Manny Machado deal after the Bryce Harper deal your it in and now the the Gerrit Cole deal you're looking at three hundred and fifty four hundred million dollars to sign a player and if Mookie Betts didn't want to play with the red Sox will find out over the next several weeks and months if that was the case then of course they had to move them but on the other hand if that's not the case the red Sox are a super power they can sign whoever they want they've got money it's looking like a cynical deal we will see I'm good at and by the way I got as you know your cubs aren't far behind because you've got a guy like Chris Brian who's another cornerstone player and what does that mean for the cubs keep these players and the fans love him yeah thank you very much ESPN's Howard Bryant thanks so much no my pleasure

Astros Hire James Click as General Manager
"There but let's get back into the sports radio six ten best of and right now we go back to Clint starter in German Branham as they discuss the biggest news of the last twenty four hours in Houston sports and that of course being the Astros finally hiring their next general manager it'll be the chain's click replacing Jeff window winstar in Germany random discussed the mountain he's eaten malam James quick will have to climb over come to get the **** back to the World Series mainly replacing the endings of the dominance of Gerrit Cole let's hear that conversation right now clinch Turner Jeremy Branham of the Astros have a new general manager James click brought over from the Tampa Bay rays and we're excited about Ripon dump about it but there are some things that James collects gonna have to address in address immediately both on the field and off the fills up off the field first but this is something that you you look at when it will be put together their investigation the Astros that they had a culture that wasn't really thought of in the best light by Major League Baseball they had issues with the cheating scandal they had issues with Brandon top men yelling across the clubhouse to certain female reporters I think first and foremost off the field for James click it might be an issue that he has to pay attention to right away yeah well there's no I think to it I mean when when the when Manfred the Major League Baseball commissioner does a an investigation into your organization a very thorough investigation you're going to your organization which he suspends the head good the manager and the general and we need we need a jar every time you say head coach is that a man of god all your your no no no no no no no we we broke up well I'll put it in there I'll put in there we have a little party in the years but I'll be damned JB's give me but but not you there's no there's no if ands or buts about it what that that I think you're great would you say problematic in what was the other term I forget the word there was a big war that was over my pay grade I want to say insulin but that what that does it does it right when I was I worry that look good here I'll be damned look bad god made death that's right right but but but that that the culture of the front office was problematic and there was some there was some negative aspects to that culture and and that was rob Manfred conclusion at the end of a at at the end of it and it's a very thorough investigation so why you would on a CD or go out I don't like is that big of a deal is twenty twenty there's no it was a big deal I mean it it's it's in papers in the report it was a big deal and so first and foremost click click sprouting Mrs going there and clean that up and get that right what he what what click what James click cannot afford to do is what we believe that loan and huge did at the end of their tenure with the Astros which was overlooked things and maybe not address things thoroughly and make sure things were going to certain direction make sure things work have James click as a going to their front office and has to sit down and and and literally make sure that everybody understands that that they're going to do things a little bit different now I would imagine that cranes already already started that ball rolling probably per at a pretty significant level but but James quick has to first and foremost get in there and make sure that the staff that he's taking over which is is Ludo staff that he's that he's taken over has to be has to have the right culture yeah he has to write that ship whatever was wrong nip it in the bud and move forward one of the things that that I admired from Tampa bay's front office and I read the book called the extra two percent which basically told the story of the Tampa Bay rays front office kind of like Moneyball told the story of the Oakland he's kind of like astral ball told the story of the Houston Astros in one of the things that was big in Tampa was that the the book was titled the extra percent the whole idea was we have to be to percent better than everybody else in every single aspect and that would include the culture and they would have they would have ping pong tournaments in the offices in Tampa Bay they would have video game tournaments in the offices of Tampa Bay I'm intrigued to James click brings that style here as well one of the things he said Congress able over our cameras in the break well we'll see about that they have a shuffle board over there to have been known to I will spin on the shuffle not so bad and the shuffle board a spin the self aware you well spin it around your stone in action and three point or but but that's something that I I I think was really cool in Tampa Bay on tree deceive James click brings that here one of the things you said the press conference was we want to create an atmosphere and environment that is employee first to make sure our employees have the best best chances of succeeding at there's no reason for me to believe that it's not going to bring that James click is going to bring that over from Tampa to the Houston Astros in jail either gonna take you step for this I really believe that I know this is hard to believe but I'm not a big reader and so I have not read the book that you're on I have to read it again actually I have not read the book that you're that you're referring to but but I I gotta believe also uses it if there's a book written about the the Tampa Bay rays culture essentially and the Astros just tired James quick who's been there literally for thirteen years and has has built his resume within that organization I gotta believe that when he comes when he gets to the Astros front office literally when he when his feet are on the ground and he's starting to address issues cultural be at the top of that list and creating a similar culture to what he had in Tampa Bay will be how he goes about it and in that process he will be riding the wrongs that were identified in the commissioners investigation of the Astros as it relates to the front office and the culture of their front office so I I think that that is a it's a it's an important first step I think for a for the GM of the Astros at this point and it's just the beginning of of the the climb that he's up against in this twenty twenty season could JB discussing the the steep mountain that James click has to climb as a first year general manager of the Houston Astros fixing the culture

"Board. Not just for them. All Corn States experiencing the same thing. But we're seeing that across the board for HP as well so the big challenge that many of them have as administrators is housing and how to keep up with the demand that they're experiencing today and related to that question all but two of the schools. I believe in the in the swag our state schools and for years they were underfunded funded even to a greater extent than other schools in their state systems. What is the situation now financially for these historically black colleges and universities? Will you seeing a change in that. As a result of more visibility as a result of greater awareness miss as a result of renewed interest in attendance and I think across the country the value the Hughes play and creating creating what I would term as human capital the human capital needed to make our society work to make capitalism in our country work. "The money to spend just from that alone. And I'm GonNa talk about something about a guy that you and I both knew Marvin Miller Hall of fame here recently. You know the legendary Gary Player's Association head Marr once told me and this is about twenty five thirty years ago. That owners should be going to work wearing ski masks and and he couldn't understand Marvin Miller and neither could I why the public always sides with the owners in these situations. I said if the players and he pointed out and I'll point out now people think that just because X. Y.. Z. Doesn't get whatever he's getting right now that somehow it's GONNA help teachers. Salaries Sanitation Workers Factory. Workers is not going to do that. It's GonNa go back to the owners pockets so what we're seeing right now. Is that these owners really do have the money to spend at least some of them are spending it and we are time and we are seeing the fruits of Marvin Miller's Labor's going ahead of the players association just elected turned said to the hall of fame turns more from Forbes Dot Com. Thanks thanks so much as always moving onto athletes making far less than Garrett Cole yesterday in Washington Marc Emmers the head of the NCAA. Meeting with Senators Editors Mitt Romney of Utah and Chris Murphy of Connecticut Romney and Murphy have been leading the charge on Capitol Hill to make it possible for college athletes to benefit financially nationally from the use of their name. Image like this there are. Efforts aligning with several initiatives on the state level around the country. The question now seems to be not whether either but the extent to which the NCAA will rewrite its rulebook and for more we welcome our own. Dan Murphy who's in. DC having having covered the so-called name image and likeness summit. Dan What exactly was on the agenda. This was a first meeting with the group of High Profile Senators who've decided they're going to try to jump into this conversation as is federal legislation. Looks more and more likely senators Romney and Murphy of both been critical of the NC CW in the past and this was their initial sort of olive branch to reach out and give Mark Martin opportunity to plead his case as far as being there. He's really reaching out and saying thing we don't want state by state laws. That's not tenable for the future of the NCWA. He was there to try to try to get some friendly. NCWA legislation started as they begin these conversations of what it might look like still aways down the road before anything is formalized in a proposal. Dan What is it like. It must be disorienting to hear. Mark Amer Moore who for so long like his organization resisted any intrusions from the political world. Now saying at least for our rhetorical consumption. We need your help. You guys guys got come up with a framework because what's going on now and where this seems to be heading will be dangerous for the college. The collegiate model that we're trying to preserve. Yeah it's definitely you know. He was asked yesterday afternoon at a separate panel if this was a last resort going to Congress for him and he wouldn't quite go that far but it is an about face from what the NCW has has done for a long time. They've wanted to make their own rules but they realized that this point that they need help. They need national intervention in order to to still have some control. What they're trying to do now is make sure that whatever happens? Whatever rule gets made they still have a say in the process and they're able to regulate the future of whatever? This market market might look like Dan. You may remember a few weeks ago. We had Mitt Romney on the show talking about this issue generated. Some buzz with this comment but look what you have is a couple athletes on campus driving around in Ferraris while everybody else is basically having a hard time making ends meet and then Mitt Romney is saying that athletes should be compensated. But you know we've got to figure out a framework that's going to work prevent as he said the Ferraris whereas Mitt Romney's thinking on the issue. Now Yeah I think that comment left a lot of people who have been fighting this fight for a long time scratching their heads after Romney said he was coming after the. NCW that that's much more of a radical rhetoric. You'd expect to hear from Mark Emmett or other people working with the NC Double A.. So I think in talking to Romney Staff. It sounds like he is still very wide open to what this answer might look like he knows as does everyone else in that room at the NC Double A.. Needs to change in some way but I think Romney may be the hardest depend down right right now on on how far he wants to push the AA. There are certain certainly people on Capitol Hill who are being much more aggressive about trying to force the NC Double A.. To change and do more or for Athletes Dan Murphy reporting from Washington on the so-called name image likeness summit. We keep hearing the walls tumbling down. We shall see Dan. Thank who's always for joining us and when we return we'll be talking about football at historically black colleges and universities there championship the celebration which involved now just about seven hours away as we walked suburban garden gnome carefully Catholic without stepping dubbing. It notice that it moves like not at all it's inanimate and utterly without brain function but despite that when it got nomi his about how Geico not only saves people money but also gives them access to licensed agents twenty four seven online and over the phone. It's clear to them. You should switch because yes. Switching to GEICO is a no brainer Raina on second thought. Maybe don't watch garden. gnomes to carefully people might talk outside. The lines is is brought to you by GEICO. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance mhm when we think about football at historically black colleges and universities names like Doug Williams Gramley and Steve McNair Alcorn state eight. Come to mind Saturday in Atlanta on. ABC The celebration bowl the championship of hugh football pitting the champion the eastern Athletic Conference Carolina Ain t against the champion of the southwestern athletic conference all corn state more. We welcome John on Thomas Grade Junior. He's the Executive Director of the Celebration Bowl John when the SEC integrated half a century ago the conventional wisdom was that football at the HCC US would wither away. The talent wouldn't go to those schools anymore. They go to the big schools. That hasn't entirely Happened how would you assess the state of the game now at HCC US on the rise. We've seen a resurgence resurgence in interest in historically black causing university football programs Both from athletes from the fans from companies that that are looking to connect with consumers. And so the celebration Bo. We've we believe has been a big part of creating that researches there was the heritage bowl roll back in the one thousand nine hundred ninety s which attempted to do the same thing create a championship for historically black colleges and universities. But it couldn't guarantee the champions of the two preeminent conferences would end up meeting each other. The game went away twenty years ago. This is the fifth season for the celebration bowl. How has the game itself help? Help raise exposure not only for football at HCC used but for the schools themselves well. It's a championship game. And when you open the college let Football Bowl season with the championship game of this caliber. The champions from each of the conferences and each year these games have gone down to the wire wire. The average point spread on the wind has been five points with North Carolina. Ant squeaking by all state last year about two points and then by two points the year before Against grambling State University. So this this is this the kind of of football ball and kind of presentation of the sport you WanNa see very competitive and the energy around it from our fans has just been fantastic. John we were talking about this just the other day on. The radio is well you were talking about. How applications for enrollment at some of the schools in these conferences has been skyrocketing working in the last few years? How do you connect that? If you can to the celebration bill. Well this this year will mark on an tease fourth appearance. Silence out of five so you can almost say they have a dynasty taking place In in this in this space. But they've seen their applications this year alone own they receive over thirty thousand applications. Seventeen thousand last year For somewhere around fifteen hundred positions that have open fifteen hundred to two thousand and that is growing across the.

"Welcomed outside the lines. I'm Jeremy SCHAAP COMING UP Gary Cole- Don's The pinstripes at his ceremonial introduction. Is Yankee mega signing says about the state of baseball but I it is our big story. The pro bowl rosters have been announced the big winners the Ravens with twelve selections which makes sense since Baltimore has has league's best record at twelve and to leading the way the ravens remarkable second year quarterback Lamar Jackson the favored the MVP award with two games to play Jackson Jackson. One of the six quarterbacks selected for the roster's along with the Shawn Watson Patrick Mahomes in the AFC and Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers and drew brees in the NFC. Four of those six quarterbacks African American. That's never happened before for the pro bowl and it is emblematic of what. We've been calling the year of the black black quarterback for more we. Welcome Jason We tear. NFL writer at the UNDEFEATED DOT com. We've been writing about this story. Line all season season. Jason Your reaction to those pro bowl rosters being announced wait. Oh Jeremy You and I've talked about this before. We knew that this was going to be an incredible credible year for African American quarterbacks. And what we're seeing is the result. The combination of all the effort throughout the season the training camp the preseason and now you have this group that is representing the AFC everyone of the quarterback slots. And I really wasn't surprised. I'll be honestly Jeremy. I would have been surprised. If that wasn't the breakdown would have been more gratified to see Dak Prescott. Many you're saying he's the biggest snub of all the pro bowl players who were not all the players who were not named to the rosters. I should say Jerry. I think there's definitely arguments if you may the Dak Prescott should be on this team. Now people look at Aaron Rodgers and and Raja's largest team has a much better record. But when you look at the advanced metrics when you look at things yards granted Aaron Rodgers having a great year very few interceptions release awesome touchdown passes but you can make a very strong credible argument. I think TAB Dak Prescott on this team and when you're talking about the year of the black quarterback when you're talking about this culmination as you put it of so many different factors. It's it's not coincidence. It's part of a trend but where does it all start. How did we get to this point now in twenty nineteen when we were a tier ten years ago? Forty years after the first black quarterbacks in the NFL Jimmy. I think is very interesting. A lot of people point to the Michael Vick draft in two thousand one and say that when Michael Vick was taken number one overall overall first African American to be taken that spot that that was the beating but other people point to nine hundred ninety nine when three African American quarterbacks were taken in the first round Donovan mcnabb Nab Akili Smith and data culpepper. And say hey look that really signal that the League was shifting. Its thinking in terms of what these guys could do ultimately four four franchise. So there's that debate but a lot of people will tell you one thousand nine hundred nine is really are jumping off point. What does this news the four out of six six and the arguments whether Prescott should be on the roster? And I'd say about changing perceptions about black quarterbacks perceptions that after all for so a long held back black quarterbacks Yeah Jeremy and that's the thing is it's the perception it's what do we think of these players as the NFL commemorates memories just one hundred season. It's not a coincidence that that when you have a roster loaded with guys who are African American quarterbacks it's really about showing that okay the League now believes it's not just that these guys have physical tools but they have the leadership they have the heart. They have the ability to lead franchises. This is and I think that's such a significant thing. We've had black quarterbacks for many years but we're talking about is guys who are stars who are going to get these hundred two hundred million dollar contracts contracts and in the case of Patrick Mahomes and can be franchise players that organizations build around so we talk about perception. The perception now is look. We'd better go get one of these guys can do these things because they can lead us to great things. Jayson read of the undefeated reporting on the year of the black quarterback as he has been throughout throughout the season. Jason thanks as always joining us a big morning in the South Bronx New York Yankees formerly introducing their most recent acquisition. The right handed and Clean Shaven Garrett Cole who agreed last week to deal for three hundred twenty four million over nine years three time all star Cole. Who is twenty nine is coming off his best season? Twenty wins and a League leading two point five Oh average for the AL champion Houston Astros cold calls this move to the Yankees a dream fulfilled. There's a process here that Brian spoke to and that he just alluded to a couple of minutes ago. Go about trying to bring the best people at each individual position to surround everybody with the best opportunity to succeed. I think they've demonstrated that certainly only through Bryant's tenure over the last two decades so it instills a lot of confidence as a player when you hear those things and it doesn't unhurt to play for your favorite team. The Yankees haven't won a world series or so much as a pennant in ten years stuck on twenty seven world series title since two thousand nine forty five years after New York ushered in the era free agency signing of hall of fame starter. Catfish Hunter who would help them win. Two world series. They are again making a big bet on a strong right. Are we welcome terrance Moore. He is a national sports columnist for Forbes DOT COM and. I'm assuming you would shave your mustache for three hundred twenty four million dollars when you I think so Germany's a handsome mustache mustache. Thanks very much. Let's be honest what's going on here and I'm GONNA use a Christmas analogy here. You've you've heard of Ebony Scrooge of course right I Manuka Pool yes if compared me to them well. I'm not sure whether it's still the ghost of Christmas pass. We have the ghost of Yankees Pass. George Steinbrenner okay okay. He's haunting his two sons. Saying get it done. You mentioned not won the World Championship in ten years which is discussing the Yankees considering that the Yankees are the the most viable team of Major League Baseball at four point. Six billion dollars. Okay and get this. I mean you got a small market team by the Kansas City royals. They've won a world sources the Yankees. They had to get off of this money here and go for their what people calling their great white will endure cold. But isn't this exactly the kind of contract that Brian Brian Cashman who has been the GM for more than two decades. The kind of thing that for years he was shying away from because the evidence suggests that. There's no way you know history to suggest that this is a good investment. You might get a couple of good years. You might get something out of it. The way they did were see Sobat. The ten years go he won the world series right at the beginning of that big deal but this represents a shift in strategic thinking from cashman. Doesn't it an Randy Levine and ownership. Well I mean no doubt about it and it's not about spending the money part of it is about. Who Do you spend money on? Okay let's go back in time. They spent the money on a guy named Reggie Jackson. Yes and I think that turned out pretty well. So so it's all it's all about that. How you allocate one point six million dollars build a difference? This is a little bit different so I mean here's the thing two right turns I mean the Yankees. They're worth so much. They are are capable of spending this money but ultimately when they look at their balance sheet and a few years from now if Garrett Cole doesn't work out how are they going to approach. Things at that point to the Yankee does too with all these teams. I mean if you look at what the Angels Do did here with Rodion the random rather than I mean. There's a whole lot of money to spend four one guy playing third base or any position for that matter but they've got the highest paid player in baseball. Aw Saint Roster and Mike Trout and what if the angels done nothing wherever okay so again we get back to. What are you spending money on? And how are you're trying to fill out your roster eight hundred and fourteen million dollars for those three free agents last week. All clients have Scott bores and this is when we talk about baseball not being relevant in the national sports discussion people not paying attention to the world series the All Star game not being a cultural event anymore. So so how are we supposed to read. There's there's all this money in the game. Players are getting rich teams. Have the money to spend it but but it's not like baseball. We don't talk about it. Focus on the way we once did. What does that say about the game and the health of the game? And you've got this contradiction going on here Jeremy. Baseball attendance have dropped drop every year for the last twelve years. In spite of the fact this past year had all those home runs was supposedly brings people out to the ball games but this is very simple. What's going on here? The media rights fees okay. It's a national television contract. The regional contracts and low contracts. They're getting a bundle. These owners. Okay they got.
Yankees introduce ace Gerrit Cole
"Big big day day for for the the Yankees Yankees today's today's they they formally formally introduce introduce their their new new ace ace Gerrit Gerrit Cole Cole Cole Cole Yankee Yankee fan fan as as a a kid kid says says playing playing for for the the Yankees is a childhood dream come true I can remember as a little boy dreaming about being a Major League Baseball player specifically Yankee and like Brian said it's the right time in the right place to to take that step Yankee GM Brian Cashman says he did play hard to Gaddy wanted call anyone after and we were very transparent about our interest in this particular player Gerrit Cole a useful Yankee fan that grew up in and and finished off to put himself I think in the best position possible that when he wanted to with the ever chose to enter this time and place that he would be the best prepared he possibly could be for the young skater terms of cold last week at a nine year deal worth three hundred twenty four million dollars the richest contract ever given to a pitcher it includes a full no con clock no trade clause no deferred money and an opt out clause after the fifth

"At you just saw with with the trial got we gonna look for other outfielders another position players in the money they get more than you get a look at his own teammate as a pitcher as the markets are different he's gonna get more than Gerrit Cole dot I mean theoretically could if they if even if he gets the free agency and continues to play like this if labor Taurus continues like this and wins in MVP and is this great young player hits free agency twenty seven he's gonna get more money than Gerrit Cole which is you know obscene and crazy to think about but it's true a squeeze one more in before the top of the hour Gus said items going on Gus I wanted a quick comment on goes out every if the Yankees but they would still would reject the chips in the eight years that is yes we worked every time absolutely right the only made that the money that you know there's no problem there were people fight about the salary if they bring a couple jobs jobs is what everybody absolutely absolutely right because you're a hundred percent right if he if they win a couple championship since contract it's a hundred it's worth it now figure out the back end eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six two hours down to have to go Paul tone thank you guys very much I appreciate it thank you SO two AM when people because he will come your way was still taking your Yankee calls we have to do some football is now going to be football Sunday so gonna have to talk giants and dolphins and Eli possibly most likely last home game last chance for you fans to see him in in the building Jenkins story Ingram not on the field again I want to get to that because I think the giants really have to think about whether they you know one of an incriminating you should because you know might not be his fault but this is never on the field so we got a lot to get to the last two hours go around the league on this week fourteen so much more.
Angels land World Series champ Anthony Rendon with $245 million pact
"Are first yet Stephen Strasberg staying with the nationals then yesterday the nine year three hundred and twenty four million dollar deal for Gerrit Cole to go to the Yankees that came out overnight going into yesterday and then last night the news came out that Anthony ran Doane is going to the angels to the tune of seven years two hundred and forty five

"Definitely note that All right dare coal signs with the Yankees I mean she if he threw a years worth of salary on the People's Pie he would lose a years worth of salary but it would be a lot of money based STAF garrick. Kohl's pitch count last season if you were to translate that to his new contract he's going to be making roughly ten thousand dollars. Pech catch when he pitches for the New York Yankees. Is that good like Jack. He pitches pitch for a half an the Yankees averaged five point eight two runs per game edging an absolute whippable. That's true with a ball. Field out of a ballpark. Garrett Cole has a career record of sixty six into when his team scores at least five runs at seems like a good combination nation. I mean okay. Obviously he's unbelievable. He's the best pitcher in baseball. But Nine Years Jack in twenty two thousand fifteen David price at at the time signed for the longest and richest for a pitcher at seven for two seventeen. This is two more years nine years and David price is nowhere near what used to be when he signed that contract before you when he was with the Tigers but otherwise one of the two but gear Garre call sign for a hundred and twenty eight million dollars more than David price like this. I'm not saying it's a bad contract. You we know how you sell out. That's what happened this same thing with your boy Bryce Harper. He's Gonna I mean he's not it's all different for a pitcher because you're big on the. They only play one every five days. I mean that that's a whole different act but oh why do you think it's different. I mean it's just like it when you put that in perspective perspective. I'm not saying it's a bad deal because of the nature of the business when you put it into perspective that they're getting paid to work once every five days and making that much money for it. It's crazy okay. But in fairness complex time there's only one player and one position who can singlehandedly win a game. Listen I totally get that. I'm not saying Rosberg won nationals. The world series. I mean wasn't how much how much was Garrett Cole. Licking his chops and that Strasbourg deal came out. Yeah he knew what he was getting at Strasbourg where to get that much to forty five. I think it was. I mean the dude won a world series. MVP like that raises the Price Tag. Get Joe Joe FLACCO. That happened to us. Fortunately there's no salary cap in them. I'll be so it doesn't matter how bad that deal is had the Yankees. He's in year six seven eight nine. It's just a matter of if you've got one or two that then the success I think I think people calling the Yankees World World Series Champion Not a ton did but I do see obviously people saying okay. That's a wrap for the league. I mean it's what now they're gonNA tation is. It's not that much better. It's it's Cold Severino Tanaka and Paxton. Yeah that's probably what it is in your only throwing three of those You GotTa Assume Severino stays healthy. I mean it's the best sunshine. There's no doubt but there bats the past two years because they're homerun hitters of just expired. Come playoff time so I think it's not like we're not watching them and I'll be like when the warriors got Katie. Everyone knew what was going to happen. This is not that situation but I was having this conversation tonight. What if what if the NBA be a for instance was like the Albay where there was no salary cap in no rules? What would people like Kawhi Leonard Lebron James be signing for? It's crazy crazy. Yeah Lebron should I mean everyone knows that she how much more money is in is in basketball than it is in baseball. How much more of a revenue share? There is wild wild to think about. I wonder if it would ruin the league though hundred percent yeah it would become way more of a of a local sports. Just like baseball is like if you're you're you you grew up in Baltimore Orioles. Were never good. That's why you never cared about baseball. I would talk smack when we were young kids about the phillies. But you didn't care because the royals were never good in eighteen. And they went to the world series somehow. Nah elsia hails. Yes but yeah I mean it's it's such along and long sport in terms of the game and the season if you your team is in good. It's very hard to keep pace with it whereas no way would be that especially if all these years are awful. Yeah there's only one bad team in the NBA. It's The New York Knicks. They're abysmal. What do you think about the whole higher? Jason Jason Kidd to luring Jaanus the not a real thing that's nixed. That's Knicks fans trolling themselves. I don't think that's little I next next like it is nicks like but it's that only came up because knicks fans. They liked to themselves knicks. Fans can talk as much trash about themself. South anyone can say teams right exactly so knicks fans. I mean I saw it goes far as we WANNA hire Jaanus as Middle Middle School math teacher like that. It's it's knicks fence. Show him so we will jaanus. That's besides the point. But we're not gonNA signed Jason Kidd. I hope we signed. I'm Becky Hammon. I mean why not at this point like show that we're forward thinking or show that were Mark Jackson like using the horrible coach. I mean whoever ever comes in it's just signing up for their inevitable death right you like this. The next coached the knicks higher isn't going to be the guy no proudly the next coach is bounded the same fate that David data fissile had and I saw the report that fizzle declined the sun's job. The Hawks Job and one other team doesn't because he took the Knicks on him Not a smart dude. Not a smart neither. Could he run an offense so it is where it is. I mean the Knicks. Hirschman offense with that. Yeah the Knicks Sir. It's sell the whole team. WE'VE RJ Barry Excess Game Tomorrow Night Against Boston. That is a big dive back into some and getting so caught up in the NFL. And I get it. It's towards the end of the season's playoff we got to throw out some NBA. Maybe on Sunday next week. Well you know. Monday's episode episode.

"More football man still in it? Still Breeden see them so you in on football you're out Game or what's today Wednesday. Not yet I mean this damn team man. These Philadelphia goes just keep bringing me back in All right before we go power rankings. Let's just do a Thursday night football preview. Its jets at Ravens Ravens. Win Is Lamar playing. He is I would imagine this. Be The at least watch Thursday night football game of the year if it was. Rg three verse. DARNOLD Yes it would be the I. I'm not gonNA I am not going and watch the ravens play Football Mara. The past few years Thursday buzzing kind of boring like they're they usually pit like to pretty bad teams this year. I feel it's been improved which speaking of bad teams. I have a question because obviously it wasn't pouring from me being that I was a fan but I was having this conversation with my grandfather grandfather yesterday and we were saying how how nobody on Monday night in America care to watch a single second of that game but like eagles and giants for the Eli aspect is that was it that miserable for you watch. I have watched on okay so yes like I was doing stuff I was watching. I didn't watch the first this quarter if you weren't doing stuff. Would you care to what I was doing stuff because I did not care okay. You would have made time to watch the Eli Manning. Storyline wasn't big enough. The Eagles like a little strange how they had all those like book of Eli and all these videos and graphics ready to go out of nowhere five days as they made all that Hanta. We'll stay right. So you're in agreement Ravens Win I think it'll be somewhat closer. That team point spread. Yeah I think it'll be probably within two touchdowns the jets are really going to struggle to score even though Levian will play. I think the ravens aren't going to really use the mark art. They WANNA save film for Ploughs Coming Up. Plus he has that little thigh-injury how are they going to be low scoring. It'll be boring. We'll just try and run out the clock when comfortably and onto next week. So let's go straight into the power. Rankings I've got twenty one. I've got twenty one. Nothing Ravens told you up. I mean I don't about at that. No I don't hate that that kind of your entire scriptures. Now it did I think the jets score pitching shutouts is hard but the jets are the jets even though they've won three or four so nothing like a good. NFL pitchers true Right number Oh we gotTa Talk Garrett Cole later I all right number one Baltimore Ravens. Eleven to one nine in a row. Best offense in the League Top Five Defense Great Coaching. You know how it goes number. Two San Francisco forty forty nine so that you're getting a little too used to that I. It actually is discussing because it's tough to kind of drop the Ravens after they continue your win week in and week out figured out number two is the niners. Absolutely mammoth win. They move back into leave for the NFC west. They made a statement while Ravens Line just moved another half-point point They made a statement win the by going into New Orleans. I had as the favourite to win the conference. Garoppolo balled out the defense. I did not you know. The defense didn't make plays in Garoppolo. Did so there are two saints right there at three. 'cause they're you know right in that game Number Four for the chiefs. The chiefs are number for as to win the chaser getting hot. The defense is playing while the one team that I think in challenge the Ravens for the AFC and then number five. The New England patriots are out of the power. Rankings that the Tennessee see Titan. Oh stop hottest team in the Ravens. Are The hottest team the best team in football. Yes they are right now. They're currently currently the Fifth Best Team Ryan Channels Authentic podcast. You're ruining our reputation for collects. The Ryan Tannehill is plain nine out of his freedom. I ran out and you know what I'm right in the hot hand ha still might not even make the play disagree. They're going to win the division so with that being said take it away and honestly if the Ravens are one we're going to have. Yeah the New Orleans Saints I. I don't care what the record says what games they've lost teen lose every week. It's not as McFarland. Says Games aims are lost in this league one. I don't really know what he meant by that. Statistically impossible yeah but I'm pretty sure like if one liver is vulgar is next level but anyway I just think that the best team all based off of what now what now. What right now? Because they just lost to the niners and the Ravens beat the niners over a lot more about that game than the instead. They're in a tough division race to saint trying to show up and they're not coasting they need the ONC- that might cause them the one seed now they don't have the time they don't think they need the one-seat at all I think they've gone lately. Dana by the saints. I heard that well rounded of a team drew brees outside of the Dome in the playoffs is not very good. Look it up look it up. I don't have to look look it up. They they have Thomas. I Trust Mars. Minute non-fat Sean Payton. I trust their defense. It's my it's my power rankings. All right and I'm Ed your chance chance. There's no logic to it. I think the best football team in the league I think the best football team in the right. So who's number two number two the Baltimore Ravens I. I'm just not fully buying it yet. I'm not buying after nine. Straight wins rather there gritting out dominating the top team the league. I don't know what else they have to show you. I don't know either but when it hits me it'll hit me bottom line so so I think the ravens are too. Yeah that's that's really the only reason number three. I'll give it to the no number. Three is the chiefs because they're getting hot at the right time. That defense is finally starting to play together. And I mean Mahomes the fastest as-as team in football. Andy Reid will see Andy. Reid come the late winners when it gets really cold out. But you're you're Andy Reid. Supporters big a big her but sometimes forget that much any timeouts. Yes so I've got the chiefs three because I have to put them in somewhere like because because there are eleven into but you know how much I hate the niners and think they're frauds I want actually if eagles make the playoffs we're GONNA play one of the two. NFC West teams. I would love to play Seattle at home and then I have no problem and I don't think any other team in the NFC power rankings. The Eagles do not even. They're not saying saying what am I point. I don't think any team in the NFC is afraid to go into San Fran. Because I don't think many people believe that team and I don't think you're that big of Oliver and I actually actually disagree. I think you're one of the only ones still holding out on the niners. Garoppolo proved himself last week on the road. He put us so one game one game in in in what you want their eleven. I know but one you said. Garoppolo proved himself. He didn't prove himself on Monday. Night against Seattle. He proves himself one week peak in Seattle. He's a he's a kick away from beating Seattle. How quarterbacks kicks away from Super Bowls who cares I don't believe we've got a point. Yeah I don't believe that yet. So just knock but you're never going to believe it you're only GonNa pick either Russell Wilson Carson. I went has never done anything. And you're so confident you can beat two teams second. Half you played the new. The Eagles do not belong in the power rankings. I didn't put the the the conversation about them. Policemen I got the niners for and I used to think Seattle was that good and I kind of you don't need more so I think I do i. Just yeah I don't know I think they're vulnerable. I'm going to go to England. I'm going to go New England because of that defense. If the offense offense the offense can't be like this the rest of the year Kennet. Yes they don't have weapons. Brady's washed I JOHN IS NOT TOM IS I. Don't think that this is GonNa continue the offense all the way all the way into the postseason. What's going to change it or not a not that issue? The core worship that differentiates itself Brady Brady. No it's not that it's the old line that is has always been his Achilles heel. If you get pressure on Tom He struggles and now at at the age he is and the washed up nece that he's gone through it really is affecting him. Okay so what do you do you check down okay so take away the checkout you rely on the running game study Michelle has just disappeared from the earth. Okay so go to the big. Tom Rob Gronkowski. They have no skill players so newest newest been just nothing for them. They can't catch passes their patios all over the field like they're they're just not that good and that defense is good. It's just not elite. Listen listen I'm not sitting here glorifying. The New England patriots as Your Twenty Twenty Super Bowl champions. But I'm just saying that thought about what you're talking about a fifth spot in my power. Our rankings. I'm between the Seattle seahawks. I'm actually staring at the Los Angeles Rams I'm not GonNa put them in there. I'm not putting them in but they're on. They're on their way up and I think they win this week. But but I'm deciding between Seattle. Green Bay and New England and Green Bay is giving Green Bay love. They play quarters at a time. They just go. They'll go crazy in the first fifteen minutes of a game and then the offense will be gone it. There's such a weird team remember early in the season when I told you about Rogers and how I said something's off something's different is not the same. He's still there your quarterback but he's not like the guy do you remember and you were saying I'm an idiot. What have his numbers won't don't reflect that but for whatever he's all over twitter? I see these people breaking down. He has gained this new tendency where he won't throw a ball anywhere near a defender so oh he just throws it away which keeps his interceptions down but it really eliminates any big playability and stuff. So I don't know I just don't think they're that good. That defense is offensive. We've seen it before. The defense is a bend. Don't break defense. They'll give up four hundred and fifty yards a game but somehow hold it below twenty three points and that's not bill. That's not dealt for sustaining success. So I'M GONNA go roll roll with New England. I mean they've got cameras at every practice facility and the country So I'm rolling with Bell. Thom I'm rolling bill. Yes that's always a safe bet I most important game in my opinion of the the week is that game. Houston travels Tennessee. The hottest quarterback in the League Ryan Tanno They've won what five zero six seven with him. They are favorites. They're both eight and five. The crazy thing is if Tennessee wins and the steelers beat the bills at home which I think is plausible. CAUSAL WE'LL GET to that game Houston would be out of the playoffs. All the hype around the Shawn Watson and that team coming together. Finally they have the allying. They would be currently out of the A playoff with two weeks to go. I think Tennessee is GONNA win. You're obviously very adamant that the titans can only finish eight and eight even though I have proven to you. They've made the playoffs with the better record I just think ten miles to hot. I'm not going against him and Houston is just their question mark every week I. So they're both what eight and five right now. They played twice. Tennessee goes Houston homebush. Houston at the saints and then at Houston Houston to end the year and because Houston has the divisional one game division record right now. That means Tennessee has to win at least have to win both of the Games against Houston because they don't play another divisional opponent Houston plays Tampa. So you gotTA assume that Houston's going to be Tampa so you're saying the titans in order to win the division to beat the Texans twice. I mean I wouldn't shock. beat Houston like it wouldn't shock me right now. Houston coming off of really bad loss against Denver..
"gerrit cole" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why
"Rei Gregory we're back for our third and final segment of this week's episode of you're wrong and here's why we're in talks about. Why Antonio Brown another diva wide receiver has talked locked himself out of getting another shot in the national football league? Tell me why this guy this guy just can not not stop getting on twitter and just yelling into neither like it's it's actually unreal and only really does is take shots. He weirdly. Apologizes to Robert Kraft but also take shots. And I'm like I don't I don't get it I don't understand. And and then today he's tweeting basically like f the NFL. Like all day He's he's tweeting out like search statistics from Google. The most searched person was in the United States in twenty nineteen. And it's like dude. You were the reason you were. That is not because of a good thing. Let's let's the people on this list Antonio Brown right Jussie smollet David Ortiz. You've got shot. Andrew Luck retired. Bryce Harper signed the richest contract in the NFL myles. Garrett hit a guy with a helmet like twenty one savage got. They found out that that dude was actually like British or something. I don't know I don't follow pop. Culture that much Kevin Hart almost died in a car. Accident R R Kelly. We don't even need to get into it. What we what happened R Kelly? I mean R. Kelly has my child's Godfather. Is there something you you may want to Google it. Chris I mean you're talking about most of these people on these lists not because of good things. Things like Robert Kraft on this list and that's because he had a couple of trips to Florida. It's just like this is this is just down. The Mercer on the most searched athlete in the world on this on that I don't need the NFL but then every other day you're tweeting back at the NFL. He has now. It's now reached that boiling point which we sort of touched on last segment. Where I don't think anybody's willing to deal with this willing to touch this with a two hundred hurt foot pole like I don't care how many rows he's running against random corners on high school fields like I don't think an NFL team is going to want a a circus that is going to follow Antonio Brown? Here's the thing that you fail to take into consideration. Talent Wenzel every single time and especially specially discounted talent wins out every single time and Brown is certainly going to have to take an immense discount for whomever the next team. The signs look I heard from drew Rosenhaus himself and drew. Rosenhaus is not a guide ally yourself promote that. A number of teams are interested in bringing in Antonio Brown on as soon as he all. This nonsense is resolved and he is cleared. I think what the NFL is doing is very interesting because the NFL has kind of unofficially really suspended him without actually having to suspend him by announcing that if he is signed he could be placed on the the Commissioner Schnur six exempt lift exempt list. Excuse me and so he's he's kind of been unofficially suspended already and teams. Don't know what's coming next but that's GONNA be less of a concern once the year's over and you're not worried about having this guy in for the end of the season he's going to be on somebody's roster he's GonNa be in training camp with some team next next year. There's no question in my mind. It would be hilarious if it was the buffalo bills. I think that's the most apropos fit for him to end up being the elite star receiver in Buffalo team that he ate refused to go to like five months ago. But it's talent wins out. There's there's no way in the world. Antonio Brown's is not getting another chance to play in the national football league. I just don't I don't get what his plan is. Just it's it's the like I look and see. I don't even have to follow him on twitter because it just gets re tweeted and pushed out there so crazy on a daily basis that you're you're just like dude. What are you doing? He send in just random chips and random videos and highlights and talking about getting in touch with God. And you're like man like just stay silent like just stay silent and you help yourself out so much more because you're bringing more and more attention more and more circus tweeting out free. The goat a random videos of him catching pass Hasselbeck touchdown passes from Tom Brady. Did you played one game. Like I don't know I don't know what we're doing. I don't know what we're doing here like we get it. Man You you got a touchdown catch in the one game. You played with for the Patriots like I. I don't know how to take that. I don't know what to interpret from this video that he's is the greatest wide receiver from the NFL today and deserves the chance to play football. Sure but you can't keep tweeting f. f. m. when everybody wants somebody brings up the NFL or or somebody says there's zero percent chance that Antonio Brown aeroplanes another snap in the NFL. and that was from Marcus. Mosier whatever over that. Whoever that guy is seen liable service? Yeah but he tweets that. And you're you're randomly quote tweeting people and just saying FM. Do there's nowhere else to go events. McMahon's GonNa come and bring you the XFL like I don't I don't know serious talk here. How smart would some XFL team be to throw incredible amounts of money a Cabernet Antonio Brown? I mean it would be ratings ratings heaven even and and Jersey Heaven no I mean they would they would make and Vincent Man. He's a marketer. He is a marketer so there is no doubt he knows how to merchandise these things. You could still walk around today and see you know stone. Cold Steve Austin t shirts and a couple of weeks ago. There's a new wrestling organization. That's out there. Eight W we see the commercials everywhere. Of course it's never it's nonstop. Stop but there was a guy in the front row the entire episode. He continued to point to his shirt and turn around and he had A. He hate me. Jersey amazed vigil. XFL He hate me Jersey. Which is unreal that you still have that first of all knows one but but number two? It just proves that Vince McMahon knew what he was doing back then if not for some of the other poorly run things and weird opportune things that the thirty for thirty on that put out their team with cavern and Antonio Brown on it would be just exact thing that they need to get people to pay attention. That's what happened. The problem with the AF is that nobody cared almost immediately week. One it was cool and then it just died. 'cause nobody cared and nobody was interesting. Unless you wanted to watch that old Alabama data running back who played for the colts. I can't think of his name trend. Richardson yes unless you watch him. Score two yard touchdown pass touchdown. Runs for the Birmingham whatever's and then then you're watching that that leak okay couple of things one. The only Birmingham team I care about or will ever care about the Birmingham Barons. Second Yeah That was a giant missed opportunity because I actually weirdly thought the AFC presentation was very good. If you watched one of those games seems like you could be tricked into thinking like Oh this is showing a replay of an NFL. Game until you've been looked at the jerseys and all that but production values were great. I I thought the the commentators did a nice job it was well put together. It just wasn't engaging in any way I do I wanna hit this buffalo thing. Got Real quick again buffalo and Pittsburgh this weekend because I think this game is fascinating jujubes back James Connors back in this bills defense has just been playing out of his mind. Signed over the past couple of weeks and BEVANDA has the steelers minus one and a half at home. Who Do you like their Dakar? Progess seems to have done this. steelers offense I know they got the big punt return which which helped sort of propelled them to the lead against the cardinals and the elector defense different sort of takeover man that bills. The bills. Offense is the scariest part which is why the Brown thing. There's there's sort of the most intriguing. I kind of like a steelers at home in that game. The bills as as much as they controlled sort of Lamar Jackson. In for a part of that game they sort of broke down and they have some openings and I think I think the steelers right now are the better coach team. They've realized all the right ain't they've pushed all the right buttons with all the adversity that they faced against them. I'm not taking anything away. From what Sean McDermott done fellow Salam. I'm not I'm not taking anything away on what he's done from what he's done in buffalo mainly because I just. I don't think he's phenomenal job. I think he's been really excellent. Sort of turned around a franchise that was then. It'd been floundering for a very long time but I think that hard Tomlin just has he. Has This weird magic touch. I mean think about it Chris. What was a week five or six? We were talking about Mike Tomlin being fired by the steelers dealers and now all of a sudden they have a potential grasp but the six seed. It's IT'S A. It's a really interesting team right now. I kind of like the steelers fair enough I. It's an unfortunate end. The show anything pro Pittsburgh Butts. I don't begrudge your thoughts however wrong. They may be Gregory. I'll look it's it's been a another fun week here at you're wrong and here's why talked about a lot accomplished a lot. I nailed everything three and L. Once again and we're looking forth doing it again next week. Four Greg Chris Forward L.. Thanks for listening and we'll see you back here next week..
"gerrit cole" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why
"Where with abandon Greg? We are back and I want to talk talk a little bit about the hottest hot news. The hottest of hot takes in the NFL right now. Odell Beckham in this weird situation with the Cleveland browns. I I'm GonNa tell you that. I genuinely believe despite all the rumors that were hearing all the talk. That Odell could be moving to another team. that he's begging opposing teams to come trade forum Allah Eric Berry so many years ago with the cowboys the best move for Odell is to remain with the Cleveland browns. And I think this is true for a a couple of reasons one first of all. He's not having a bad year. There's this talk. That Odell Beckham Junior is suffering through this incredibly terrible season in Cleveland and that things are never going to be right with him again. He will never be a superstar again. He's he's basically you know James Thrash at this point. He's on pace to catch seventy three passes for over one thousand yards. It's a very good season borderline. Alan pro bowl numbers now. I know we're having a lot of Rod. Receivership had big seasons this year. So seventy-three on thousand years probably doesn't make it but those are borderline order line pro bowl numbers also one of the better seasons than any wide receiver in Cleveland browns. History has had in quite some time. And so there's the other thing to this team is going to get better and better and better if we believe this. The sports hernia nonsense. Which I think is a little bit of an excuse is to be honest with you but if we believe this then there's no reason to think that Beckham's not going to be back stronger than ever next year? He'll be more athletic quicker. He'll have his burst back and he will now have the benefit of having a season under his belt with Baker Mayfield. I think that missing these T.. As in the fact that he didn't practice much in training in camp really hampered the production this year. You know this isn't. This isn't a guy who is going to skip time in years six of his career with the New York giants and he knows that. Look me alive play together for five seasons we know what each other is thinking. We know what each other is going to do. This time isn't going to hurt anything. BECCA missed just incredibly valuable developmental time in terms of building rapport with quarterback. When he wasn't there working out with Mayfield? Not as and stuff like that that is going to come in time and point three is that and I want you to run. All these Gregory Point three is is that he's on that cusp of becoming coming the more trouble than he's worth diva wide receiver. He is not far off from teams. Wondering is it worth it to bring Odell Beckham in and once you get that label. It's really really tough to shake. Yes that's a hundred percent accurate right and that will take a quick break. Yeah no you keep doing this. My Mustang was Oh dell is I I think he's in a situation with a quarterback who loves to speak his mind in Baker Mayfield and they think that causes an issue when Ode L. was in New York his issue with the media the way the media covered him the way. The media made everything about Odell Beckham Junior front page news. But you never really heard teammates or anyone really say anything about the situation or about what's going on You know any of the issues with off the field stuff with the weird pizza box video with the boat trip with appeared on field antics. That would go back and forth You never you never heard teammates say things and then there's this weird situation this this week with the sports hernia stuff from Baker and Baker is a guy that wears his emotions on his sleeve. And just Kinda says what comes to him in in a Lotta situations and especially like if you look at how he reacted to the myles Garrett thing and Kudos to the way for the way he handled that that post game press you know own field. Press conference was handled very well. This situation whatever. It is not handled. Great I I don't think I don't think you should be commenting about other players injuries. And I don't know how that's GonNa go over with a guy like Odell Beckham and if the rumors are true that he's telling other teams to come save him like earl. Thomas did with the cowboys this last year. Two years ago right before he broke his eric. Berry was it's it's okay That's that's weird weird thing to do but at that point if you are the browns and you think that you are going to get better like you're saying that you're going to consistently assistant get better. This is clearly a guy who is all about his own success. He's about the Odell Beckham Junior show. It's not about the team it's about what I can do about You know look at me here. Here's my best. Plays out here doing all the individual one handed catches. All you know all that crazy stuff and it's not about winning it's about building that Oh. BJ brand versus that. And if you're the browns you almost would look to part ways and add assets little hanky model for you get get some assets for him. Whatever you can get and move on? You have a good enough team. You can upgrade greater wide receiver. You're clearly covered at running back. You don't have to worry about that for a long time. Baker is obviously your guy that got much better as the season's gone on in your defense with they ever let Myles Garrett back on the field which I assume will happen next year. I mean that's that's sure it up. I just don't see see. I don't see a negative for Cleveland. If they if they let him go no matter how many catches he has will the negative. Is You lose one of the preeminent playmakers in all of professional football a guy who can change the course of the game with one catch and one cut guy who opposing defenses have to who consistently plan against and that opens up things for everyone else if this is look. I think the sports hernia thing is weird because one Odell L. doesn't strike me as a guy who suffers in silence and if he's been dealing with this all year than I think we would have heard about it before I think that excuse or AH justification would have come out prior to this so do I think he's hurt. I think he's heard a little. Do I think it's a sports hernia. I don't know about that but if that's true if it is a sports hernia then he's just going to get better and better like did they mishandled the situation. Sure I don't see any negative at all to Baker Mayfield coming out sticking up for his guy saying look. This wasn't handled correctly the training staff let us down. Is it the the best thing to say for the morale of the the front office. No it's not but it's only going to endear him to Odell Beckham because he's they're supporting and Becca meazza houses back. I'm not worried about that I just I just don't see any reason. Were moving on from Beckham is something that would be the browns best interests and you talked about getting whatever you can get for him. Let's talk about depreciated value. How much value has Odell Beckham junior lost since since last year when Cleveland traded effectively a first round pick in Djibril peppers a actual first round pick in the third round? Pick it to get him. What is what? What is Beckham worth now? I mean I still think you could get a first round pick from someone you may not get to but I think that there are more than enough teams. That would be willing to give to give that up. They just. You're right. Beckham does have talent. That talent has racked up. What two touchdowns this year? Two Games over one hundred yards. I mean we're talking you know. Let's let's look at some names that have more. TV's than Oj that you can't play that game. Why can't then we play that Game Taylor? Gabriel alshon Jeffery alshon Jeffery superstar. Oh is he. He's a big Nelson. Aguilar has more touchdowns was this year. That Beckham Junior Nelson Aguilar is a game-breaker who who who changed completely. When he was allowed to go back to his natural position of the slot and I would argue? Well worth the first round pick. The Eagles used on him. I'm sure Miles Boykin. I don't even know who that is. He has plans mild number of touchdown. Big Athletic wide receiver from Notre Dame. Sure sure John. Ross General Score Two touchdowns in the first week of the season and he's still has more touchdowns than and then he missed like nine games and he still has has more touchdowns than Odell Beckham. So as for as talented as he is and has dynamic is years and the and the preeminent playmaker as you described he he hasn't done it in Cleveland and I know that he gets the most focus because he's there number one wide receiver but number. One guy still put up touchdowns it still happens. Happens guys get double covered guys. Get guys get you know mashed up with the best corner every single week. You're talking about the guys who lead the League in that touchdown down stat guys like Kenny Golladay. WHO had third string quarterbacks throwing to Chris Godwin who has what's his name James? He wins rowing him him. He's got a mirror image of twenty five year old of course of course Allen Robinson who's up towards the top of the list who has basically you know the rookie quarterback and Mitch trubisky throwing to him. I mean even. Aj Brown rookies rookies to have more TD's Cole Beasley for that awful bills. Offense has more touchdown catches dairy sorry Darius late in the two on on Monday night. He had more touchdowns or the same number of touchdowns on Monday night against the eagles terrible secondary then. Ob Jay has all year easy exact same number number. You're drunk you're you're raving. I don't think so. I think I think the thing is. I think the thing is with with Odell Beckham. Is We have this portrayal of how good he is. Because of a one handed weird lay back touchdown catch that happened in his rookie year. And it's been portrayed as he is some ultimate superstar top tier receiver he's fouled it up sure with some very very very good performances differences. Yes now that he's been found out but now that he has been figured out he has been slowdown in these departments. You can say figured out when what are you talking about. Because ninety one catches ninety six catches one hundred and one catches in two thousand seventeen was the year he got hurt. Still had twenty five catches in four games on page one hundred two thousand.

bunch of time wasn't half bad yeah we still did okay so put it forward in the site young voting he's thirty five so what you're hoping is that's Gerrit Cole if things go bad it is not healthy it looks like an Ellsbury contract then that's that's sucks but that's a part of sports the part of life it's part of risks would you need to do this figure is this risk worth it but I did it with the rent is quite at least for all I know we can come back and re interim self is it worth the risk some guys are not some guys are I think we both agree Gary Cole is worth it yeah I was that I would say so Nick is in Newark New Jersey hello Nick yeah I know what a person's first by them a couple things first like this some I could also serve at the type of loss of life everybody in Jersey city was get out a disaster as Harper here really terrible absolutely that you know five cute guys get up in the morning because his wife down you know you you know you're not as yeah I do okay I was allowed to Gary Cole citing I think this was got his why well I think we paid him three fifteen hadn't years drug to get him yeah I mean I mean he wanted him this is the third time you know yeah absolutely NO and love and giallo Joe listen yes yes group user why well you could be next day that we have died well we all let's also but I know you're mad so I know do you use your why well I you guys one of my being selfish uses what about a BA at least I think I would ever made we just hope that that's happening next year net Collins money is going to be out there to do something like that all the differences on diesel motor at the differences that cassman tried to get this guy numerous times you're obviously drafted on the trade market two years ago before Gerrit Cole was Gerrit Cole I remember us talking about those trade rumors and I'll be perfectly honest with you I said boy you really want Gerrit Cole data for your internationally actual I did not realize that these last two years what happened it's a great year in twenty fifteen Gregory finished third or fourth in the Saiyan voting was tremendous but when you look at what you did done since then he did not look like this dominant pitcher but which obviously happened the last two years is his triumph transformed himself into this elite starter so this is a guy cassman she's numerous times and I think our last caller is right he may have cut to three fifty or four high probably would have Ellie in Lakewood New Jersey alley very Joe when I when I go into a good man yes Mr called in the live call put old who's on the track in a Jewish deli and all couples you know terribly all people killed in the store you know Jewish members of the way you know get into a serious talk about the Yankees and the Mets obviously was a no brainer someone pretty Yankees I mean this is a joint signing that either a spectacle with last rose the money's not an object with unique usually when I got a just going back to the mat so I mean I understand we have Steve Coleman the wings but that I mean to read reports of the penny pinching on a fifth starter and then made maybe well I guess I mean this is going to be it's going to be I don't deserve no point they're going to make me want to chase and fog I haven't heard that I'm in where dad called guiding his yes he gave a bid for Jason Vargas is agent which used to be Brody I don't know who it is now the guy to get his reports Sello looking for not anything I haven't either but I mean you use well but as the fourth the fifth Saudis okay actually love is a strong word but I actually sort a love him because what I want from a fifth starter that's telling viewing and I'm I'm giving mats and Stroman and send the guard and the ground clearly the edge I want a guy that's going to pitch and one thing about reports sellers every five days he pitches I have to worry about a Mirage star I don't knock on wood why well he's like yeah I just I would imagine so let's not forget that I'm not telling you better than Zack Wheeler has upsides get exactly what I'm suggesting any of that but the Mets are looking around out there rotation the Yankees are looking for a top and guys obviously looking for different things marlin rocky point Marlon yeah you don't guys what's up so well I'll tell you what's up I don't care if my wife three kids give me a lump of coal for Christmas I got my Christmas gifts greatest signing in recent memory I can't wait for baseball's fault one Sunday we got a spelled yeah the stuff you did you know question Marlon yeah absolutely some so slow thanks guys a Christmas enjoy it he took the words out of my mouth you know I was gonna tell him well Yankee fans to be excited about they're not gonna pull Gerrit Cole left the fine tuning rich right who is sixteen right right right can face an order a third time no no no no you're right about that you would think so anyway this analytics nonsense you know well I'm curious if we get Gary Cole on which I would put at about thirty percent Hey I I think it depends if you get depends okay if we had Gerrit Cole are right I would ask and I will be given honest answer but I would definitely ask him Hey you know I'm just curious as a guy that you know such meetings here last year your nation could won the Cy Young if you look at what the Yankees didn't say boy you know I just want to make sure they let me pitch the seventh inning in the eighth inning and potentially finish a game out is that something that hasn't been any talk about with them yeah because we we may built about that during the playoffs where we said boy if I'm Gary Cole I would make sure when a meeting with Cashman Hey different rules for me right and there should be different rules because he's Gerrit Cole any I have a look at his number second time for in fact wait look I have them here we go this gonna make everybody feel better time to reorder third time a through the water member all those numbers used to spike for all the Yankees Gerrit Cole the numbers actually get even better for him hello we still P. as against third time around the order now second lowest batting average their time around the order to one ninety two average of five thirty five PS that's how good he is third time around the order and fourth time around the order guys are old for five or war over five Saudi she didn't happen that often so the numbers even tell you you don't have to pull after five to six innings because god forbid he faces the same guy third or fourth time to the analytics actually back up good but I I I look to single night every time I mean I'm I'm I'm all for it all in for a nine inning pitches damn right so I made for that that's something to be excited about of your Yankee fan now I'll tell you something sort of interesting ME complete games he puts last year too was non Gerrit Cole said to complete games in his career bought he does go seven inning running strong right going night has become a dinosaur in baseball pretty much and as a cool is that is and as much as I like to see you like to see it it really is about going seven array yes I think the thing that was annoying Yankee fans was the five or six not the seven or eight well you've seen we we even saw less than that over the years I know you guys eight give me forgive me.

A. on CBS but we have to of course began with this ongoing patriots in Bengal situation pager to play the bangles coming up this Sunday and we all know what happens here patriots by million the bangles are one in twelve the patriots are coming off that loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in back to back losses to the Texans and chiefs not often the pager coming off back to back losses and we all know that New England Wednesday run away in a route coming up on Sunday now does that mean much of the grand scheme of things no because the bangles the worst team in football on the patriots have to prove that they can beat the team that they would have to win the post season they've proven this year they can beat anybody that's really bad they have not proven they can beat a team with a winning record at least one of the last two and a half months so it's not really the game itself coming up on Sunday which is of note it is once again another situation where the patriots appear to be coloring outside the lines now we spoke about this yesterday and my take on this yesterday was do I believe the patriots push boundaries yes do we have evidence that they break rules yes do I trust him as far as I can throw him absolutely not but do I think that they are scouting the bangles in advance to get an edge on them on Sunday because they think that they need to spy on the bangles to be don't know no I don't it could be naive of me having said all the things that I just said but I don't believe the patriots look at a one in twelve team and say we're going to risk another whole bleak storm we were caught once we were docked a full first round draft pick as opposed to I get a partial first round draft pick this like one arm and a leg and find an exorbitant amount of money we're gonna risk all that to try to beat the bangles I can't see that I can't see however I will say that my opinion slightly changed over the last twenty four hours because I made a few phone calls and I talked to a few people around the league and I got a better sense of what people below the surface feel about this and I know how the sounds I know you and all that I hate the patriots so I know I don't come at this from a ton of credibility I got it I know I know that you know I hate the patriots very being but I'm telling you I did not create this theory okay I did not try to dig up something I told you yesterday how I felt I didn't think the patriots would risk what happened in the first time to beat the one in twelve bangles and the more that I spoke to people around the league the more that I realized there is actually a pretty logical reason for why the patriots were looking for Intel on the bangles it is where we begin your cold open and tell you that you know we've never had the coaching staff and I personally have never used any any video footage at all all anything that the post production people of don you know all the what's on on public television or something like that and we we don't have anything to do with what they what what they do so I really don't don't have much knowledge of the situation and all G. A.'s top story is your cold open all right so number one Belichick yesterday has one of the great quotes for a criminal mind ever we would never knowingly we don't know when we or intentionally break the rules which is kind of the perfect criminal quote I mean yeah we we might break the rules but we don't know we don't do it knowingly we certainly wouldn't do it intentionally site bird that I said boy again these are America's greatest criminals this is our greatest crime syndicate this should be the next movie done by Scorsese we don't know when we or intentionally break the rules okay that's the first part the second part is the people that I spoke to yesterday suggested that there is a feeling around the league and those very close to the situation that the patriots worried.

"gerrit cole" Discussed on WFAN Sports Radio_FM
"Look at the Yankees if the Yankees can't pull the trigger on Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasberg for whatever reason and let's be honest I think everybody thinks and knows that they should because that's what they need a number one true number one picture I mean it's got to be one of them because other than call you've got options of Dallas Crichel sport trac is all from the websites for track I love that site as for track head has said his market value at like twenty one million a year Bumgarner is that like twenty one one Wheeler twenty three million a year review twenty eight million a year and then Strasbourg at thirty eight point two million a year so other than call these are the options on the market and but we're talking Black Friday deals for the Yankees so in case this diet Brenner's aren't all that concerned with going over the luxury tax tax than they really are in the Black Friday market Danny Thomas sorry about that day they don't want sterling or to anyone starling Marte okay sorry about that pronounce it wrong my bad sterling it's an easy I know sometimes I think of starling a Castro but I digress anyway the end he's really might be in this Black Friday market is there so concerned hal Steinbrenner is up can go over that luxury tax so let's say that the roll out in twenty twenty with what they already have Tanaka there as there once every noise there too then maybe they could have for Black Friday deal ten a Rourke does get a three seventy one career ERA he's never missed a game due to injury I may be a little more expensive option the problem will go this route but I looked up Alex would as well career areas at three point four pretty good ten or or do they go down the route of clay book called ball colds he's got a clear three ninety eighty are a but he was absolutely terrible last year then a little options geo Gonzalez and these are all Black Friday deals for Yankee starting pitching case they miss on the big guys I think the Yankees actually end of maybe going this route I I hope that they don't but in the case that they do I like it a geo Gonzalez I'd like a Tanner Roark maybe in that order in Dallas one then Rourke and they were looking again now for number one these guys are not going to be the number one maybe hazard three or a four and maybe these guys are the project that the Yankees brand new pitching coach is looking for Matt Blake is looking for Allah the renaissance Gerrit Cole experience when he went to the analytics driven Astros as we'll talk about tonight I do want to get to to see that tonight we got the Gerrit Cole going over to the Astros totally resurrecting his career from from the pirates the Astors I mean it was incredible the the the study that I that I read it and I'll explain it to you guys a little while then I do want to hit that today for sure mean Matt Blake the Yankees pitching coach is so entrenched in analytics and I'm not talking the analytics of the only other guy to go to the third round through through the batting order their tented batting order I'm not talking with data analytics and talking about dental except that it's I'm a baseball they're not I love it where I mean you saw Justin Verlander they were shown on MLB network I know in the playoffs where Justin Verlander increase the arm slot Risi arm slot on his fastball is like six inches and it is totally totally become a weapon for him again so I'm talking that those kind analytics and that's with the Yankees got in Napoli can that's the Mets got to in their new pitching coach Jeremy Hefner and I do want to talk about that so again Black Friday deals for the Yankees if they're not in the market for Gerrit Cole or Stephen Strasburg the art there might top two options are geo Gonzalez ten a Rourke we get a lot of calls on hold you guys stay in there eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six will hit them right after the break I'm in a car and.
