Britt Lyle II on design

"Your host Maris cherry and this week. I'm talking with Britt Lyle the second a Motion Graphics designer here in Atlanta, Georgia. Let's start the show. All right. So tell us who you are and what you do. My name is Britt Lyle. I am a motion graphic designer. I'm a graphics assistant at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Now, I've been asking everyone, you know kind of starting off for these interviews how they're sort of holding up right now, you know, we're recording this right now in late September. It's pretty easy. I think well known that we're going to be in the states for a while. Now, how have you been holding up during this pandemic? Oh, wow, there have been like there been good days and bad days. I've been holding up generally well, but like there have been, you know good days and bad days. Like I said I tend to deal with anxiety sometimes so that has been kind of a struggle wage. Kind of cope with along with like just regular anxiety Then the election and covid-19. Like one of the things I learned in grad school is like you have to take time to for yourself, especially in stressful situations. And this entire year has just been one big stressful situation off. So it's very very important to like make yourself as comfortable as possible. Especially someone who like regularly deals with anxiety and off. Yeah, so I just basically just tried to make sure that if I feel like in some type of anxiety attack coming that I make sure to remove myself from the situation and ground myself before coming back to reality so to speak gotcha. Now let's talk about your work at sports and entertainment and can you kind of briefly describe what a MB sports and entertainment is and just sort of what is a regular day like for you right now since you're working from home, so am be Sports entertainment. We are sort of like a company within a company job. We do work for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. My job specifically is Graphics assistant. So basically that means I help out anyone else you need help with any other big project whether it's coming up with Gameday Graphics video editing color correction or any other regular or irregular occurrence. I might occur to you today. How did you get started there on a whim a lot of a lot of the jobs that I've gotten in particularly designed jobs of Applied on a whim. So I was laid off at my previous job, which I was very very sad about and I was just applying applying everywhere that I can and I saw the post for graphics assistant at a MB. And again, it was one of those things for me. It's like I can't in good conscience past this up and say Thursday. I tried everything that I could so I apply thinking that like I wouldn't hear anything and they turned out to be one of the few people that actually gave me like like three rounds of interviews and hired me within like a month. Nice. Yeah, so you mentioned, you know kind of working on these, you know, not random projects, but you kind of work on an ad-hoc basis as an assistance. So are there any sort wage projects that you like take the lead on or you always kind of working in that second kind of capacity mostly in a secondary capacity because there are people who have been there since the building open since as soon as construction ended they hired a design team and those and some of those people have left but there are still some people have been there since its Inception and they kind of know they build out the process. They're the ones who really like all the assignments all of the the dimensions birth. All the renders all of these little details. They're the ones who built it from the ground up and I'm essentially follow the process. I'll give my two cents every now and then if I feel like it'll help but for the most part they have pretty much have like a game plan laid out for how certain things are done and how certain things are processed. And so, you know, just so folks name Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta is fairly new. I think it was opened and what 2018-2017 2017-2017? Okay, and then prior to that it not in the same space, but pretty close to it was the Georgia Dome that's where I used to work actually years and years and years and years ago. I worked for the Georgia Dome the the Georgia World Congress Center and since Olympic Park, so I'm familiar with that whole kind of campus area and I know back then I mean Georgia Dome all that is owned by the state, but Mercedes-Benz is privately owned. Do you know if off? Any of the the Congress Center staff works there also since it's so close not intimately like I think some people transferred but I mean as far as I know most people have been there since MBS was a thing. I'm not sure if any other people from Georgia Congress moved on to other projects, but I do know that they got a lot of different people from a lot of different places to kind of help build this team up. Yeah. I was just always curious about that cuz I still know a good number of people over there so long what's the best thing you would say about the work that you do? All of the work that I do is like kind of unconventional and well, I guess not unconventional like sort of a dimension sizes that I do that I work with like no one else in the world really works with these type of Dimensions cuz inside the stadium there's this song Halo board, and it's like six feet high, I think it's got like Fifty four thousand LED lights on it and the the file sizes and the dimensions that we work with are just pretty unorthodox and pretty wild to kind of like work with and when I first got started, you know someone I got trained in art school or just doesn't in designing was as the standard 1920 x 1080 and then suddenly I have to deal with sizes that are like fifty thousand nine fifty thousand five thousand or ten thousand sizes and it's kind of weird but it's also kind of cool cuz like you you kind of makes my portfolio stand out a little bit off and yeah, I guess that would be the best thing is that like I do I do the type of design that are very different than anyone else does and it may be kind of hard to put on social. Which is why I tend to put it on my website, but at the same time like not a lot of people can say they have designed the stuff that I designed and

"Fourth in building c c for car of the Georgia world congress center, you can do all that in one day. Theoretically, you could go the car show, and then the Atlantic gladiator marvel superhero night Saturday exciting there, you go. Matt Brennan, deadpool marvel or DC I have no idea what you just said. But okay. Is it a marvel comics DC come when it comes to mortals in that type animation? No, you're right. Four zero four eight seven two zero seven fifty is the number. I am trying to make you look good here curl. So we don't do marvel comics captain marvel is a girl is it is. She is she. Yes. It is four zero four eight seven zero seven fifty is the never Zerorez gets mud stains and dog poop on the carpet. How about blood? Although I realize if bloodstain and my carpets. My biggest thing. Maybe I need to look somewhere else. Yeah. You might. However, we have been successful at getting out blood. There's certain things that we have on our truck that we can try like a protein spotter that sort of thing I will say this. If anyone can get it out, then we most certainly can. And it would be worth having our technician take a look at it. And if it's a situation where that is your biggest concern, you just have this crime scene. And it's everywhere we are going to be one hundred percent, honest and up front with you and let you know gave that's not coming out. Okay. Don't waste your money. So can I get you out before the police get there? You might be able to. Okay, just curious just making some personal notes here. I'm this. Don't mean anything ask you for friends everybody keep moving. Yeah. Just ask for friend, just curious. How 'bout Weinstein's? So Weinstein's again, something that we we've been known. To get out. It really depends on how long it's been sitting there riot. It depends on what type of dyes are in the wine. It depends how deep down it is into the perilously. Somebody spills wine on a carpet this afternoon, and they call you guys and you say Monday morning, we'll be there is it to their advantage to keep that stain wet today. Like be damping water is to keep it wetter. Can you let it dry and know that you will. So they should definitely dampen it at first rank take a white microphone towel, and it's really important to us the white one. So the color doesn't bleed and then just use a little bit of water and just blotted up the more that you can see coming up on the towel is obviously better. Right. And then yes, it would be best to get us out as soon as possible, and we would be able to attack at stain, and they'd have a much better chance of getting it out. I bet you guys you get all kinds of weird. I mean. Yeah, I'm just thinking of the stains. I've had on my carpet through the years of peanut butter. Peanut butter sane this daily life stains happened. Zerorez. Is your people are your people? Yes. What is it? What is correct there people if we're talking about Zerorez as a company though, when these Zerorez is re people. Yeah. Is is okay. The point are all right 770-242-1313 twenty percent off every peanut butter stain. Every single every every stain every rug every every ductwork you clean twenty percents off any service. They offer you have to call the day by noon to get that taken care of to get on not on the list. You don't have to get done today. How far are you looking? Can I say can I call you today and say I want you before the end of may. So we're going to extend this to the individual. So you don't have to call by name. You don't necessarily have to call by noon. And normally you're throwing my whole balance. I'll be honest with you Dave your customers like to call in or your listeners like to call in Monday, and we always extend it. So we'd prefer to get you on the books today. And you'd have to have the cleaning by the end of April. Okay. You have to have your point and said by the end of April. Yes. Which is a long task six weeks. Yes. Okay. Wait 'til Monday. So if you were speeding to get home now, you can go March in the Saint Patrick's Day parade with your back and still have time to get home and call Zerorez. All right. It takes a big load off my shoulders four zero four eight seven zero seven fifty is the number. Kathleen has a question on carpenter bees. Which is funny. We were just talking about carpenter bees. And the the ability of your mosquito kill carpenter bees. So we're going to talk about that. Right. After we bring you up to date on traffic, and weather.

"That'll be available about an hour from now, including both Kenny Houston and Reggie Kelly and Antoine buffet and a very. I would say a very candid, but also emotional max Garcia who talked about football and the uncertainty of being a free agent. But we also spend time at the end talking about a cause that's near and dear to his heart. And he he cried as we spoke about human trafficking and his passion to end slavery both here in the United States as well as across the globe. And so there are a bunch of pictures on Twitter and Facebook and videos, the latest one I posted is one that I promised you. I would get the wall of Super Bowl rings are larger than life there taller than me. And they're proudly displayed on the fence. So it forms a wall that is really more about security between the Georgia world congress center and the street, and you have to walk past this wall that starts with the rain for Super Bowl. One and stretches all the way up to the eagles in Super Bowl. Fifty. And the rings get larger and Ghadir with more bullying and shinier as we go. And so I did videos for you guys. Because I know we have fans in various stages of your life. And so I started the video I just posted. I started with the eagles, and I worked my way backward. And I walked for quite a while. And I did a bit of narration and then in a video posted the bottom of the hour. I went back to the ring for Super Bowl one and walked forward because I didn't want you old timers to think that those original Super Bowls don't matter as much. So I followed through on my promise. Are you proud of me? Not only did we interview nine different people over seven sessions on radio row. But I found the time for videos, I did a law radio on Twitter and after hours with Amy Lawrence on Facebook. I had to start talking before I could check our Facebook page. So you let me know if it's up there, and you can see it. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work, but very proud. Of what we've done here in Atlanta. Eight five five two one two four seven. That's our toll free line. Eight five five two one two four seven. In addition to football. I also spent a few minutes with a couple of members of the air force Thunderbirds who will be performing the flyover at Mercedes Benz stadium at the end of the national anthem. Now, I had a chance to speak with one of the pilots who in this particular case will be coordinating from inside the stadium. So talk about pressure. He has to make sure these Thunderbirds fly over the stadium at just the right moment. And then I also had a chance to talk to you Casandra who is a maintenance officer leading a team of ninety four not all here in Atlanta. But how about that as a female young and early in her career? She's in charge of the maintenance teams that make sure these planes are safe and ready to go to to do all the maneuvers that are so well known for the Thunderbirds. But also that make this an elite. Team. So if you missed that conversation, you may notice I was nervous. It's funny too. Because interviews are generally my wheelhouse. I get really comfortable setting other people up whether it's athletes, whether it's coaches, I do my research. I'm ready to go. But I was nervous with the Thunderbirds. Don't ask me why I felt like I talked really fast at the beginning. Now by the time, we got to the end of the conversation. I was a little more relaxed. I think my heart rate had calmed down. I don't know why why that one made me a little more nervous than the others. But I did have a chance to talk to major. It was his name was his calls. I was flack, and I kind of went back and forth between using their call signs not. But major Markson who is that advanced pilot. And I I also said to him, you know, some day when I'm really famous I wanna fly in a Thunderbird. And I asked him what advice he would give me. So he was gracious. He was really cool that was a great part of the conversation. So we'll get all of this part of our podcast. If you missed it on the show after hours, Amy. Lawrence dot com. And we always put the links on Facebook and Twitter coming up again Akbar. Goodbye Shamila from NFL network and American ninja warrior host. He's also the father of four kids, and he's finishing up a book. So yeah, I mean, he's far busier than any other person that I've ever met in my life. It's after hours on CBS sports radio. There were some news items that filtered onto radio row now we're kind of in a cocoon there. But we did have a couple of news items that broke late on Thursday. I let's stick with the football for now. I don't know that this is anything new for Jason garage. But according to Volta reports the Cowboys head coach is now a lame duck in two thousand nineteen what does that mean? Well, Ian Rapoport actually recorded this little piece of analysis from radio row because I saw him walking around the Cowboys solidified their coaching staff earlier today officially installing kellyn Moore's they're off of coordinator. But there are still questions regarding their coaching staff in general specifically Jason Garrett..

"Secured. The last two teams that have practiced at the air force academy have made it to the Super Bowl. What a beautiful place just saying your home for Super Bowl. Fifty three is Xtra sports thirteen hundred. Live from Atlanta. It's Amy Lawrence in after hours covering Super Bowl. Fifty three here on CBS sports radio. From ninety two nine the game in Atlanta. It's always my honor to be on radio row when the hall of famers show up you can see their gold jackets all across in this case, the Georgia world congress center, but whatever convention center or space were in you can see them you you watch them in their reunions with one another how excited they are to to have a chance to speak face to face when very often they will go a year or more without seeing each other without being in the same place, and it's also a privilege to speak to NFL veterans from previous eras. And so my next guest on radio row, Katie Houston was there as partnership with southern recipe, pork rinds to benefit gridiron greats an organization that is spearheaded by Mike Ditka. And Mr. Houston spent fourteen seasons in the NFL. He started back in the late sixties and finally retired in one thousand nine hundred eighty fourteen seasons a dozen pro bowls, and it was. Inducted into the hall of fame in nineteen Eighty-six. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence from radio row in Atlanta. He was sporting that gold jacket and he looked deeper Super Bowl fifty three the Washington Redskins. We have access to hall of famers and other members of the football community that we might not otherwise, we appreciate you know, like. Like when you get to be a hall of Famer an older player, you really kind of drop off the market, and you don't get a chance to see people are curious store. So when you present the markets for us to us. It's all about you know, we appreciate that. What is hall of fame weekend like whether yours or whether others you've attended what is it like to be part of that particular community a very select few. Well, it's unlike anything that I could describe you know, I've been on now. Eighty six. And every year I go back. It's exciting. You know, you lose a few guys. And that's the hard part about it. But just to know that you hall of Famer it kind of gives you and rights, and you wanna look at it like that. But you know, hard is one hundred people deserve it. And whilst they give it to you. They can't take it from me. That's right. You've done. It's yours, and you are wearing the hall of fame ring for letting me hold it there for it's beautiful. Thank you. I'm proud of you for flashing it it here. Earned that I'm really not aware of on flash. Flashing. All of that. You've heard was a former defensive back for the Houston Oilers and the Washington Redskins. Kenny Houston is with us here on radio row. It's after hours on CBS sports radio. Your story is incredible. As I was reading about you today, so fourteen NFL seasons twelve of which were pro bowls, but you were drafted in the ninth round, and you end up in the hall of fame when you look back at your career, sir. How did you do that? What do you feel like we're the keys to turning your career into a a huge success? If your player, you never supposed to think. Oh, you really never have a good game. It's always something to work on. So was always working on my future. And I didn't I didn't put myself at the hall of Famer never really made the team of something that I always had to do. I never wanted to leave the feel in ended up playing. One hundred ninety games and Georgia. And hall of fame never came up. Making the team came up because you had to get the contract. But it was something that I didn't set out to do. It was something I did. You're a starter by gained three of your rookie year, even as a ninth round draft pick. Did you feel like somewhat of an underdog in that role? I I didn't know what I was doing because I went through. I went from offense a Senator middle linebacker, and I got him a game in in Houston. And I would have had the longest interception return in the history of the Houston Oilers. Maybe the Lee. If I have finished, Iran. Seven yard ran out about tired. I just ran out about. And I think about that on this on purpose. Fantastic. I bet you got some grief for that. Yeah. You know that we're excited about we plan candidates and they were excited about me. Running back what happened theft. Some guys say down at some guys say Ron I ended up stepping out of the end zone. I'd probably a couple of twenty yards. You know in the end zone. And then I ran out. I got tired. I've got about nine touchdowns by way of the interception. One hundred forty nine career interception that one forty. Look with on the page. Just let you. One hundred and forty nine for Mr. Houston. Okay. So forty that's what I wrote down on my page. Okay. What's it like is a defensive player to score a touchdown? I scored minor early the first five year. So I thought that's what you do. I was a strong safety pretty good speed and recover now until through that ball. And I had this thing in my mind about how I'm supposed to run back running back with with Houston, and I got to the Redskins, and they had a plan return never ran back. Another. No take those moments for what happened. You know? All the guys go to the sideline I'm for twenty people over there. Houston. I was in the middle of field operating a three or four guys, you know. So. Hall of fame defensive back. Kenny Houston with us here after hours CBS sports radio from the nineteen Eighty-six class. When you look at the game today, we're the biggest changes in in modern football from when you played a couple of decades ago hitting hitting back in you know, you'd have to pick where you could hit a guy hit him period. Okay. And you didn't have to let him off the line of scrimmage. So really the game has been designed in my opinion for more scoring. I'm not saying the quality of players are better because of a receiver ahead to critical first. And then he had to catch the ball escaped. The tackle quarterback had to get off. Doc was like, and then pick up his knees and maybe get off throat. So you have to design of the game. And if you don't really know football, I could wall, then you can understand it until you wanted like it because there's a lot of house gone lotta guys out five and dumping up outbound tap, untold and stuff like that. Did you have a touchdown celebration for your interception? Run you up in the stands. So tell me this any talk ever when you played about concussions head injuries getting your bell rung. So to speak. Blacking out any of that was ever conversation. Every game. You know, but they had the smelling wasn't coma. The conversation. Can you can you see these fingers? He's holding up to. And you know, you knew you were knocked out and you knew you'd be okay. When you snap your head back until they put into back into the game. It was never thought a concussion if it is we didn't know anything about. We've maybe the end result of what concussions are were. And that's unique and interesting and simply because at my age right now after a lot of guys that have had all come, okay. And the game needs to be safe in that respect. But how do you make it safe sphere? Keep a football. That's the big question has the NFL done a good job, balancing, the two. I think I think they have. And they're going to get better at it. But the question I have is how do you hit a guy? You know, I think that they're going to have to come down to hidden zone in a zone. You can be here. If you want to give beat up here. But if you ducking in the guy's hitting there's no way you can avoid does it make you chuckle ever. When you see the protections for quarterback. The whole. Loaded question. Know the first thing they do is. That's the first thing they do. And they say the, and if you don't turn them sideways, you I think I could be an offensive tackle there. I really do reach out there and grab and kick him in. Activist secrets to defense in the NFL with hall of Famer Kenny Houston, why is it important for you to work with gridiron greats? Because that's the first of all the history of the game. And you have guys that are really hurting. Guys didn't make a lot of money at all. And now that they've gotten older you experience the being experience. Eight dollars. You know, and you don't have in mind at all. You experience being told that you know, you know, you can't go to the doctor because you don't have that insurance. And so it's really sad and is so much pride in ball. And you look a guy like, Mike Ditka. Providing us a long time. I mean, Mike is you know, he was a head of the game in terms of getting people money income happen with doctor visits. The league is picked up to some degree. But it shouldn't be settled until all player taking care of. Can I ask how you are in terms of your health? And now here you are in your seventies. Well are had. I have a couple of blood clots didn't know what it was passed out. And. Diagnosed with some form of leukemia. But they're still looking at it. You know, I just looking at about ten more years. And yet smiling away, you are right? Just like you have a choice when you get go. You know, you can say he fought a good fight you out of here. You can say, you know, I'm living in I'm doing, okay. Expect certain things that happen. I don't expect to feel perfect. At the point now where I don't expect to be a perfect every day. I get up, you know, and as long as my heart. Don't do anything crazy. You know, I I can make. Well, we're glad that you're here and along with you, Mark singleton, who's of course, was southern recipe pork rinds every year. We have a chance to talk to you. When you bring us a different hall of Famer, why is it such a privilege to spend.

"But you suck. Okay. So moving onto football. Roger Goodell did his state of the state address at Georgia world congress center on Wednesday. He was holding court. And while he wanted to make it about the state of the NFL. Of course, what we want to know is what happens next in the wake of the NFC championship, and that loud obnoxious, very visible blown path interference. Call flag wasn't thrown. And I I'm not even sure that I ever thought it was possible that there could be a no call that would create this much of an uproar. But the Commissioner has heard you and and right now, we know this will be a priority in the off season. We understand the frustration of the fans. Talked to coach Peyton the team players. We understand the frustration that they feel right now, we also are officials in humid. We also know that they're officiating game that moves very quickly and have to make snap decisions under difficult circumstances. And they're not going to get it. Right. Every time we have worked very hard to bring technology in to try to make sure we could do whatever is possible to address those issues is not going to solve all those issues. The game is not officiated by robots. It's not it's not going to be. But we have to continue to go down that path. So Roger Goodell is saying okay, we understand your frustration. All right. But at the same time, I got to stick up for my guys. And I do appreciate that. He's a CEO of a company I know is official title is Commissioner, but that's what he does. He's the. Uh-huh. He has to stand up for his guys to and as much as that was an egregious. Obvious mistake on one of the biggest platforms of the sport has ever year. Right. So it's one of the most important games of the year. The facts remain that the officials especially these officials who are the highest graded in the NFL this season between the NFC in the AFC championships. These were the best two groups of officials the best to cruise. And what he's saying is they do a good job ninety five percent of the time. Right. They get it. Right. Most of the time. So we don't want to overreact. We don't want to now overcompensate and the idea has been yes, we've got technology. But let's balance it with the expertise of the officials that we hired to put in place, and let's not forget these are human beings. What do I tell you all the time cake are people to we'll so are human so humans. So our officials they're people too. And it's important to remember that they're not going to get it. Right. One hundred percent of the time. But are you willing to accept that NFL? Are you willing to accept that? And he mentioned speaking to Sean Payton for sure even though he hasn't spoken publicly. He did in fact, speak to the saints head coach as did Troy, Vincent. They've had some conversation. So he made sure to highlight that somebody else that he talked about to was this idea of expanding replay. But how do you do it? And that blown call in the NFC championship had unique challenges to it. We will look again, it is reply. There have been a variety for proposals over the last. Frankly, fifteen twenty years should replay the expanded it does not cover judgment calls. This was a judgment call the other complication is that it was a no call, and our coaches and clubs have been very resistant, and there has not been support today about having a replay official or somebody in New York throw flag when there's no flag. They have not voted for that in the past. It doesn't mean that we won't. It's something that we're going to put to the competition committee. See if there's an answer to that. But the reality is that's been at least an opposition philosophically for many clubs. So the NFL competition committee will have to consider changing two things if if this particular moment will come under replay in the future number one. It's a judgment call by an official. That's what pass interference is number two. There was no flag thrown. So do you replace something in which there was no flag on the field? And how would you feel as a fan if New York then rings on the bat phone and says yo there should have been a flag there? What if your team you thought got away with no flag? And then a flag was thrown by someone who's not even on site. How would you feel about that? And he points out. There's been a major resistance to New York weighing in on a play where there wasn't a flag thrown by the guys on site. So those are some wrinkles specific to this this moment in the NFC championship. We'll hear from Sean Payton a little bit later on. He had he had quite the three or four days. Dealing with the loss the morning of the NFC championship. But he'll tell you himself on Twitter. A law radio on our Facebook page to our phone number eight five five two one two four two two seven. We are cruising through our second night. From Atlanta the Super Bowl fifty three coming up. His Twitter handle is will power Packer. He's a longtime Hollywood producer, and we now to table twenty one.

"For Twitter. He's got a longer flowery title. But essentially, he's the guy who helps leagues and teams employ strategies to reach fans on Twitter. I talked to him about those strategies. But I also asked him a couple of harder questions. Why Witter over Facebook? I was really proud of myself for that one. And I didn't tip my hand at all. I waited ambushed him. He did. Well, TJ did great. And I asked him about Twitter being a platform for some ugly speech. He called the hate speech. That's out the term that I used, but just the fact that people can use Twitter to harass and threaten and stalking all kinds of other unpleasant things that are generally protected any other states by the first amendment. So it was interesting to talk to TJ, and I told them right up front. I had a love hate relationship with Twitter. I'm telling you if you use social media in any way, shape or form, but specifically Twitter, you're going to find this conversation fascinating. So a half hour from now table Twenty-one radio row. His colleagues also worked for Twitter, but they were standing there. Listening to the conversation been shepherding TJ around to various tables and TV and radio sets. They took this fantastic picture in which you really get much more of a perspective of where we are inside the Georgia world congress center, so that's on Twitter law radio. And I didn't put it up on Facebook. Because they tweeted it almost felt like that sacrilegious to take a photo from the Twitter people and put it on Facebook. I don't know if that's possible. Chris if you wanna try see if you could download the photo and put it on Facebook. But it's a really cool photo. In addition to giving you an idea of where we were. And and how we're set up there inside the Georgia world congress center, it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. So so my conversation with TJ is coming up in thirty minutes. We'll try to work in some of your phone calls as well. As your snacks responses. We'll do that in this first half hour of the show. I've got to write a CBS sports minute as well. But stopped the presses. There are quarterbacks who were on CBS sports HQ and then one quarterback who may play until he's one hundred and five. You're gonna command your troops. Tonight. You understand? The deck. Mario to play looking downfield. Terrific. Heavy traffic Greece from the shotgun has time down the middle. Stance in he whips it to the two bucks. How? In the middle. "Pictures that I've put up well, you can find them on Twitter Ayla radio. I know Chris is retweeting a lot of the stuff from our show account after our CBS and then on Facebook as well. I failed you miserably. I know I was supposed to get videos on Wednesday. I didn't do it. I got one and I didn't like it. So I don't wanna post it. That's the goal for tomorrow. And tomorrow is a really long day. We're going to be on radio row for I believe six different interviews as well as I have some other obligations and commitments there. It'll be my last day on radio row Friday, I have to write and I'm not going to go back. It's a mad house on Friday. So I feel like my brain can't absorb all of that. By the time, we get through that we we don't have a show on Friday nights. So tomorrow Thursday is my last day on radio row. And we've got a we've got a full slate of interviews, and I promised to get some videos, but even in lieu of that on Wednesday. There are a couple of really cool pictures one of them. I didn't take which is probably why it's so cool. It's actually a panoramic view from table twenty one. And now I'm sitting at the table, and I'm talking to TJ outta Shola of Twitter of very enlightening conversation that you'll hear coming up a little bit later on. But if you if you put yourself next to the table where Jane I are sitting you can easily get the lay of the land, and and that's just a a screen shot. It's just a one moment in time. And it's it's not even the entire conference center. It goes on both to my left into my right and way off into the distance. So it's a cavernous space the Georgia world congress center, which is right next to Mercedes Benz stadium. I did take another picture of the stadium today as well. Because the sun was shining. And it was hop in. The NFL experience was hopping as I was leaving. There were hundreds of. Of people streaming into the Georgia world congress center and the NFL experience, and it was really cool to see how many kiddos there were so huge family groups. And there was this one. I don't know if he was a dad, but there was one adult man who had four little Kato's that were each holding hands. So he had the hand of one little kid. The next little kid was holding on to you know, to that child hand and then on and on and there were four of them all on the line. So really cute lots of kids that were going in to enjoy the NFL experience, and it just it just impacted me to see all of these people because you realize even if they don't follow the NFL on a weekly basis, and these are little kids a lot of them. So of course, they're not sitting there watching football all day Sunday. But whenever this this NFL behemoth lands in a Super Bowl city, it can change the economy of that city for a year and the. Kind of of interest and the not just people travelling in. Of course, there is that all facets of the football community. We're talking about media from all over the world. Not to mention the two teams of the vendors and everybody else who comes in for the game itself. But then you think about the fans in that area. Plus there are people who travel in whether they drive whether they fly the NFL experience, the free concerts the tourism money that's pouring in because of this one week. It's outrageous. And so the city's work years in advance not only to to try to get a Super Bowl into their city. But also, then to be ready for this incredible influx of people and energy and money and everything else. I mean, there are incredible logistics that are involved with it. But you can understand why cities want the chance to host Super Bowls because it can change your city's economy for the better in such a phenomenal way. So it really impacted me as I was again going back to the train leaving radio row to see these hundreds of people streaming into the NFL experience. I have not walked through it. In fact, I've never walked through it. Because usually there's so much going on for. For the work side of things. But one of these days actually need to walk through it. So check out the photo that that was put up on Twitter. I it's not on Facebook. Because she tweeted it these are Twitter people. So I don't know if they use Facebook in might be against the Twitter laws of employment to use Facebook. But we had a good panoramic photo. And then a couple of other photos that were taken with guests, including you're gonna love this you guys, especially if your math nerds. Or if you appreciate our commitment to nerd alerts. Because being a nerd never looked so good. It was my first hands on Wednesday to spend time with NFL network analytics experts Cynthia Freeland we had such a good time being ready. And so there is a photo is up on Twitter and on Facebook. So check that out again a law radio or on our show Twitter as well as on Facebook after hours with Amy Lawrence our phone number eight five five two one two four two two seven. Seven that's eight five five two one two four CBS. In addition to our interviews and the craziness of radio row, I have a couple of fun stories to tell you Roger Goodell issued his first public statements on the NFC championship mess. Now. We're gonna hear from him momentarily. I feel like. I feel like the NFL is being sincere and the Commissioner is being sincere when he indicates that they are going to go back to the competition committee. They're going to take the situation. Seriously. They want to get it right now. I've heard some reviews of Roger Goodell state of the state address which happens at the Georgia world congress center in Atlanta on Wednesday. I couldn't be there because I was in the middle of some other stuff for the show. However, I've listened to the press conference, and I always feel like he's being sincere. And I do think that the NFL wants to get it. Right. When it comes to calls. But I also appreciate that. He wants to vouch for his officials, and I know it's an unpopular percentage that I give you but it's true ninety five percent of the time. These officials get it right there. Graded very strictly. We've heard that from gene's territory who joined us earlier in the. The fall, and he talked about the extensive grading process and evaluation process these officials go through and so here's the NFL in another. We'll call it a controversy. It's fine. And it's all about what happened toward the end of regulation in the NFC championship. And as you know, Nicole Roby Coleman plows over Tommy Lee Lewis, it's inside the red zone. The saints should have had at the very least a pass interference call if not helmet-to-helmet they should have had a flag and a first town and a possibility to run out the clock. Now, they didn't do a great job managing the clock. We've already talked about that as well. But in this particular case there was no flag thrown and it led to a weird twist on the bad, call it the bad. Call controversy happens every year in in one game in one scenario. We're always talking about this moment. Right. Well, in this particular case, it was strange because there was no flag thrown when there should have been us. Usually, it's the opposite. Right. Where there is a flag thrown. And and the uproar is are you kidding me? That wasn't a foul. So, you know, this is kind of the reverse of all of that. But what the Commissioner is indicating is that he gets it. Okay. He understands why there's an uproar and they're trying to navigate the mess now as we head into the off season. We understand the frustration of the fans. Talked to coach Peyton the team the players. We understand the frustration that they feel right now, we also know our officials human we also know that they're officiating game that moves very quickly and have to make snap decisions under difficult circumstances. And they're not going to get it. Right. Every time we have worked very hard to bring technology in to try to make sure we could do whatever is possible to address those issues. Technology's not going to solve all those issues. The game is not officiated by robots. It's not it's not going to be. But we have to continue to go down that path. I couldn't help it. When Roger Goodell said the game is not officiated by robots. You know, what I thought of Chris rose and the conversation that we had a radio road, Tuesday the battle of the box or battle box. I guess it's called on Discovery Channel and how those battle bots had knives. And they try to they try to kill each other, essentially. Those types of robots officiating and NFL game. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. So Rogers saying we get it. We also want the game to be officiated as closed perfectly as possible, but they are human and ends in the moment. As fans we tend to forget that. It's the same thing with kickers. Right. I actually was standing on the train platform on Wednesday afternoon, and one of the police officers, she she was there, and I just was talking to her waiting for the train, and she mentioned she was from Chicago. And how the cold is pretty harsh in the upper midwest, including Chicago, and then another fan or I don't know if he was a fan another man who was waiting for a train. I said something about football. He he heard her say that she was from Chicago. And so he brought up the bears, and she instantly starts they they instantly start talking about Cody parkey. So are people to officials are people too. And they generally do a very good job. Now. This one seemed inexcusable I have no idea why the flag was missed but good for Roger Goodell that he's sticking up for his people. That's what we're supposed to do. Right. You can come at us. And that's fine. But but we need to we need to stick up for our officials because generally they do a good job. So he's calm infuriates people. I totally get it. But the fact is the NFL is going to look at this issue in the off season with the competition committee, which does in fact include Sean Payton, now, speaking of the saints head coach remember in the days after the NFC championship. We did not hear anything specific from the NFL. And I even did a couple of minutes on the show about it. Why? Why isn't the NFL coming out publicly in saying, hey that call was missed. We had a couple of different players from inside the NFL say this is this is wrong. And I agree. It was it was about integrity. It was about transparency. It's I put this in my weekly column. Why hasn't the NFL issued an official statement. Well, Roger Goodell said, hey, Sean Payton spoke with Al riverine. He told everyone that he did. And we've also had many private communications with the coach. I have spoken to him. Troy Vincent ahead of football operations spoken to. I've spoken to MRs Benson. Coach is also spoken to the competition committee rich McKay chairman, so there's been a great deal of communication. Okay. So it wasn't public. It wasn't for the NFL public the NFL fans the NFL community to hear. But Roger says that there certainly was plenty of talking back and forth with the head coach of the saints. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. Have you wondered how Sean Payton recovered from the NFC championship? This was the moment that made me laugh the most on Wednesday, Sean Payton admits that his plan for recovery. Well, it was pretty similar to what I would do you do. We can a half feels like it's been longer than that. After the game for two to three days. Much like normal people. I sat probably didn't come out of my roommate Jenny's ice cream and watch Netflix for..
