"When it started to work do you remember any of that stuff I know you know I really don't and I don't remember even when he was talking about the Commons that was news to me that was not even something I was familiar with the Elizabeth Warren's plan but we can talk about that another day and I don't think George Zimmer even supports Elizabeth Warren's plan but should we tax the rich more yes we should because over these decades we have continually whittled away at the amount they have to pay and what is happened is we have do drastically increased the debt of this country we have an infrastructure that is crumbling around us in many ways it's very difficult for people to seek higher education without going into debt people are have have died because they couldn't access medical care we have some really for that with obamacare which they want to do away with and which I don't love I mean there are a lot of things that are the common good it's not socialism it's not up but it's also not unfettered capitalism it is a recognition that some things that are invested in the social structure are vital for the success of America as they have always been and one of the things that we have to do is we have to start increasing the income by taxing the rich the wealthy their fair share and then of course we do have to look at where it's expended where is the money going who is getting up the additional amount of income why are there so many corporate tax breaks why are there tax breaks and corporations move into various communities and put mom and pop shops out of business why do we give them incentives to do that I mean there are so many issues related to this and the common good is a really important thing that we don't focus on anymore and we need to begin to it isn't communism and it isn't socialism is having a responsible governance eighty eighty eight ten is the telephone number listed we've got somebody joining us when we come back we're going to talk about he'll bird Healdsburg has its own electric system did you know that I didn't either we're going to find out more about it when we return this is KGO their stint on KGO eight ten.

What was the headliner read in New York papers the other day trying for Zion trying for Zion? I do believe in. It's literally a tribe because I think they are tanking. "Damn contrary to what you might think that is not less moon as. That's that's not his game. Welcome back. So as you probably heard earlier with Don in the news, les Moonves says is out at CBS yet a nother. Powerful man brought down by accusations of sexual harassment or misconduct. However, you want to look at it. This is a little interesting. I think in that moon vez still stands to receive a one hundred and twenty million dollars as an exit package. If it's a little complicated in the sense that his contract and CBS could've tried to fire him for 'cause under the contract. And as these employment contracts are typically written for executives, it's sometimes difficult standard for an employer to prove. And he could have litigated and would have been an embarrassment probably for both CBS and probably in. Now, he so they cut a deal. It would appear. And that the ideas that he still may not receive all that money. And I know at least twenty million obesity is being donated by CBS to an organization that supports the hashtag metoo movement. And any payments made in the future will depend upon the independent investigation and subsequent board evaluation. My suspicion will be that he will likely see a substantial amount of that money in order for this to all go away. For CBS and and move as we'll go on from there. But again, and he denies all of this, by the way. Looks like it. I came to light. There was an L a Los Angeles Police Department investigation earlier this year, prosecutors elected not to bring charges. But. No. That it came to the attention of CBS he and not through moonville as it was an incomplete internal probe. By its appointed, lawyers, and that may have bolstered a wrongful termination claim on move as part. So this thing got real complicated. And so it looks like everybody they tried to cut a deal and see if they could just get that moved along and. Again. Now, this all came to light Ronan Farrow who seems to be making a career about bringing down the powerful. Again, this was an investigative report. And the story started trickling out a number of weeks ago, culminating in les Moonves resigning, and or cutting a deal with CBS that he would in fact step down there. Six women have raised assault allegations. So. This. You're talking about a corporate head this is you know, you've got Weinstein out there. And now les Moonves says, and of course, all the others. This is not this continues, and it will continue, and it depends again on how recently these things are. I mean. And here's the real question. Does he even deserve? Because according to certain articles, it's more than six twelve women accused him of sexual misconduct, and he got a bit of a graceful exit. So it would appear. Does that even is that warranted? And what happens to and this is why this is all intertwined right because. His wife. Julie chen. Right is. On the talk, and is now taking a leave of absence from that show, and what's the future there? And these things all have downstream impact. And so the question I have is how are we supposed to how do we hold these guys accountable, and at what standard, and I say this because this story the other story that I think relative to a CEO, which is really interesting is tesla. And while this isn't related to the hashtag metoo movement. And allegations of sexual misconduct yet. Elon Musk seems to be getting away with everything. He tanks his company stock when he says we're going to go public or I'm now we're going to go private. We're going to bring all this. We're going to go private we're gonna pull everything back in and go private, and that raises an issue whether or not that's criminal conduct. Because that's an affected insider information then. In an online video interview. He's. Getting high. He's. You know, he he's got a quote marijuana cigarette on the Joe Rogan experience. And and as well, you know, it's legal, right. And and Joe Rogan comedian this shows. Oh, yeah. It's totally legal. But this guy's quote. He says he almost never smokes weed because he doesn't find it helpful productivity. But he is on this show doing that. And what happens? Well, he's executives are running for the hills and the stock tanks. At what point do we say? I wonder if maybe Eli musk. Is maybe not able to continue as the CEO. Of. Tesla. Now. Look there are others that have on the record dabble in marijuana. Use for example, Steve Jobs. Richard branson? I don't know that they ever did it however on TV. Or on video feed. But you know, what was the guy George Zimmer who was thrown out of his role as the executive chairman of men's warehouse. You know? Piece says look, you gotta be careful. You can't do this. Even if it becomes more socially acceptable leaders of publicly traded companies like tesla still have to be careful in openly discussing marijuana use. Mr. Zimmer says, I'd like I would advise Mr. musk. I mean, Mr. Zimmer's in a position to advise because don't use a job. To go slowly in talking about marijuana because it's probably a couple of years still before the culture has really shifted on this. And Zimmer has since founded in a generation talks and online, tuxedo and suit rental company. More problematic for you on Muskie's, the timing with all the other challenges said Jonathan Bernstein, president of Bernstein crisis management the podcast during which Mr. musk took a toke was his first public appearance since dropping the controversial attempt to take the company private amid production challenges and questions about his behavior. So is there. I mean, should we should there be some consistency in the standard with which we treat CEOs of public companies? And. Someone like les Moonves says who's denying by the way that anything happened? Should we wait until the investigations play out? Before taking action. CBS appear to dodge bullet, I think by probably negotiating the exit and also by donating twenty million of the severance that would go to. Moonves says to one of the hashtag metoo organizations. But. Is there a bit of a double standard here at what point? I mean. Should we hold these guys consistent? Or consistent standards who who is in. Frankly, I mean sh. Musk might be doing more harm to his business. I don't know. Not that. I'm saying that what les Moonves did was right. Not that. I'm saying what anybody does in this day and age that understands that you don't do these things you don't sexually harass. But we don't know all the details of les Moonves. We certainly know what musk is Doug done because he did it on a video on a podcast. Crazy eight five five eight three nine twelve ten. Let's go to Don with the news. Good afternoon.
