I would be shocked to see it. And then that is, I mean, I think there's ceiling is the highest of anyone either conference, whether there's still a lot of baggage or Shanahan, and they still have a rookie QB. Who's 6 and O, but he's still a rookie. But all the things they can do during a game. There's no other team that can do the stuff they do. Yeah. They can just split McCaffrey out as a receiver. It's like watching somebody make this incredible dinner. There's nobody in the league close to the weapons they have. I really, really do. And it's because this person all grouping is just so unique. No Brooks for Seattle either, which is just a disaster because their defense wasn't really good anyway. That so i just feel i feel like my roster is complete because i have what many people consider to be grizz wide receiver. You guys have like just fantasy players that make you. Feel better about your. I don't know if julio jones is going to be good. I have. I honestly have no idea. I know having him makes me feel. Better about my. It's weird one. My only question with this dual threat quarterback and with this two quarterback system in san francisco is. How are you going to affect the tempo and how is how are you going to do that. Where it is a positive for your team now. Let people can say well. You don't want affect the temple of the offense you don't want wanna affect jimmy. Jeez rhythm you don't want affect the offensive line because it can go out of whack but if you perfect it well enough if you perfected where you're switching in jimmy. Trae say jimmy gets three or four plays and then you try. Switch it up. Try try to switch up the tempo and give trae a couple of plays that can that can be beneficial in my opinion. Because you're letting the defense no all right we'll give you one. Look but here's another look that you need to prepare for and that basically throw them through loop and then you bring the addition of different looks throughout the whole league where it through like different offense of looks you bring the edition of the double tight. Look and then you get one play of the reduction with triple option and then you get the play action pass off the wagon. And then you get the t-bone look the wishbone. Look it just gives you more options and you know me. I love options. I love the option of having a quarterback who can do one senate skills and having another quarterback who can do the complete opposite that everybody in the nfl. They wanna see the next great thing the next grade threat quarterback everybody wants that next great threat quarterback but the issue for me at least in san francisco is yet to quarterback's seem nice. And you when you have both quarterbacks on the field at the same time i think how shanahan can whip up some great designed for great playcalling. That will be so innovative. That will just blow defenses enters minds. But is it too early for this kid to be the savior. Is it too early now. I'm thinking they're not going to start this kid. He might see some playing time. He's probably gonna see some playing time. He's probably going to see some playing time week. One september twelfth in detroit. If he's healthy. I'd probably go over on that because it wouldn't surprise me to see both quarterbacks on the field at the same time. That's how innovative. The league has made it easier to keep these qb's on the roster at all times and league has made the offensive weapons in the offensive firepower at an all time. High and the offensive game easier right now compared to years previously now. The traditions between the two quarterbacks is what scares me the most because the most common period for to qb system to emerge in the nfl is very seldom. But it is a very intriguing aspect that not a lot of people have characteristic that not a lot of people have in the nfl. Just look at the way. The rosters in the nfl are designed. The league has made it easier to keep two or three cubeys on the roster at all times since two thousand eleven so that opens up an opportunity that opens up opportunity for teams to rely on a to cuba system as a transition to but the idea of building a full season around a to. Qb system like the dolphins did last year with to attack of lower and ryan. Patrick and like the saints did with drew brees and take some hill. I'm probably going to say it's unlikely that those teams make it to the super bowl then a team who has great quarterback. I don't know like tom brady. Lake patrick mahomes like russell wilson. But i could see it leaning more to the fact that if you have two guys who are kind of on the same footing but who have different characteristics and who have different styles of quarterbacking. I could see that more often showing up in the league now than in previous years. And i can see a team being successful like the niners like a team who has great core who has great playmakers around him like a george kettle. Like a deebo. Samuel like raheem oester a trace. I could see cowboy fan being able to come up with a game plan that would be able to dice and mix and match players and get so many people in positions where they have the advantage against the deepen simply because they don't know where the ball's going especially on line especially ongoing situations because just think of this. But it's still a chip on so it's gonna be interesting to see how he recuperates and how he you know recovered from that. But i think that in today's day and age there can be a successful two quarterback system in the nfl just simply off of the creativity and the roles that you guys have on the team. What's up you love that that just energy to where he wasn't even called out on no-one like mention his name or safeties in general about these titans or what these titans can do just like. Oh here goes top. Listen jimmy wards at all right. Let me turn on violence right now. Because i'm gonna go out these guys necks and that's exactly what he did. And the only one. I could realistically say okay. That one could probably put up. Fifty would be travis kelsey because patrick mahomes throw fit the ball in any bucket and he will force that window he will force that throwing window Even if it's not there. "We are back so if you missed. It wasn't the only person who had some weekend shenanigans. The forty niners not the entire team but it seemed like a few of the teammates. Were out at vegas. Having a good time saw. George kittle smiling and up with travis cousy for the record before you even get any further people like to those two against each other for whatever reason because of yeah. It's so obvious. In evident to no matter when whenever they're around each other or whenever they speak in that comes up they kind of play that down but fan fan in advance brain. It'll be like george. George kettles veteran travis calc- so therefore there's no way that those who can get along that's just not part. Yeah you don't have to have these guys against each other but anyway. So george kittle was air. We saw trae sermon. We also saw stray lance freshly turned twenty one time. I don't know if that's his first time out in vegas who knows but that's the first time on legally in. Yes yes in vegas so great to see you know just out and about having a good time not all fans would agree with that however there were some wild wild takes about that Apparently twenty one year old are not allowed to go out in the summer and have a good time because we all know when we were twenty one we all used to stay inside and sit on our couch the entire time and never ever drink or do anything of the case. I don't need some sort of like budding rivalry or hate between these guys. Even though i feel like some fans really thrive off of that so that was my. Take away with kittle and kelsey now under the trae lance thing. I have zero problem with it. I mean like you said when we were on our young twenties. How many times did we go to vegas. How many times we go out during the weekend. I feel like people when it comes to quarterbacks or nfl players just athletes in general. Just think they gotta be like tunnel visioned with the sport and with perfecting their craft yet when it comes to their own regular lives they always look for an outlet in life. Whether that's going out to vegas or taking medications or partying or whatever. The thing is right. I feel like whenever you like to enjoy ourselves. And i think trae lance is doing the same. He's twenty one i. I'm in vegas. We think legally and just let him have a good time. Just go enjoy himself. I think as long as you don't get in any trouble be able to whatever you want so there was some wild takes out there. I just i didn't care. I had a good time. The thing about this is if you didn't see this you would know and you just because you have access to this. That's the only reason. You're acting that way. Thursday nights before the game these players are going out and i'm not saying the forty-ninth specifically but around the nfl thursday night is a night to go out. Do they drink. And they are normal human beings they. They're not normal human beings. I will not say that. They are super talented. Not this day because you have hung you get hung over off of a few beers doesn't mean the six five two hundred eighty pound man is going to have the same effect so silly that little video that even show him with a drink in his hand he just walked in and he's walking around. Yeah so it just felt like people took it way too far and immediately everyone was like met justin field studying and i saw picture. I think he was at like a baseball game this week. It's like yeah these guys have fun. They do their own thing. They should be off season and even during the season. If you're like during the week if you're doing something like by all means just just you know. Just don't get into trouble you know. Just don't be a giant distraction. Go goal of your life. Go have fun and i think people forget that these guys are just normal. You know regular human beings. I like to have a good time as well remember the hockey game. And he said he got 94 1 year, but he's also good in line blocker and was Kyle. You wanna You don't wanna chip what you know. What you're going to do. And Jordan Reed last year on he wanted up retiring. I had some good moments and his body was clearly breaking down. But he was not much of a threat to block so opponents knew. At least three tight and needy teams have looked into this eagles have made it clear they won't point for nothing in return, making a release unlikely things could pick back up this week, obviously with June one, and that they were talking about with Julio Jones, so I could see something on these actors front. He doesn't block but one of the things that have that has plagued the 40. Niners is red zone efficiency. But I could definitely see a combination of Zach Ertz and George Kettle on the field together, playing either 12 personality 22 personnel. There's no doubt you know what do you want to come home again? See his mom and dad and all That could be a big part of it. So, yeah, I thought of that right away. The question is, you probably don't want to trade for him and, well, Holly Roseman eventually have to cut him off the roster. Yeah, By the way, he's And I don't know how they're going to do this. I did read this morning that the Colts had offered to second round picks for Carson Wentz. I don't know if that is true or not, but he's got a big cap number that they would obviously take a hit on the dead cap. And then reading this morning as well that if they were to cut Zack Ertz, and I don't think anybody's gonna pick up in $8 million salary for him at this point of his career. They would take another dead cap hit for him. So how much can filly take? Maybe they're just in total rebuild melt mode, and they just want to get rid of these deals. But Uh, It's a lot of money to eat obviously with Earth and went in the same baker. We had him on last week that prominent Asian, he said. It's all B s. You know, money around, but he's an agent, so I do think there's an impediment there. But, you know, I think you play more two tight ends, which is something they did this year, especially with Debo missing so much time and I use being in and out of the lineup, so The issue would be his blocking. Is it as bad as we? You know, it looks at it, but I think they would, you know, crushed Well, he got better as a blocker. He gets out there every day. It's the sled 30 minutes before practice with coach I'm bringing all the tight ends and being Being around. Kittle will help Zach become a better blocker in line blocker and half a body. You know, Lammer trapper. And then you know? Conversely, what does that could do? I'm like, really Well, I'm here in San Francisco to at UCSF had a little check up on my back. The doctor looked at and said, Hey, it's awful. Now go back to play golf and shut up. So I headed back to Sacramento, and I'll try again to play golf on Wednesday. But that's good news. And the doctor says Just get back to Sacramento. You don't need surgery. I'm happy. I'm happy that's good. I'm a lot happier. Probably. I'm happier than the officiating department in the NFL is right now to tell you the truth. So what You think yesterday we heard the $111 sideline, but there were several Which is what did you think of Shepherd's crew? I mean, I mean, it's to me, uh, the my problem with this is a couple things number one. The game was appreciated in a different standard at a different level than it was two weeks ago. I mean, two weeks ago, and at least the NFC championship game, those things that were being called Yesterday. We're not being called in that game, and that's a problem. I mean, that's a problem in terms of consistency. That is always there. But to me if it's that different from two weeks ago to yesterday, Then it is an issue and I also have a problem with the pass interference rule because on the long pass down the sideline, the interference called on on the past to Evans. That's not a foul. I mean, that's tangled feet. It is the classic definition of tangled feet. Both players are looking back for the ball. They trip, their feet tangle, and Evans went down, so it's not a foul. So what does it become? I don't remember the length of the penalty. 34 35 30 44 yard penalty. Where is in college? That would have been a 15 yard maximum penalty, which I think is a better rule and then the the defensive holding call that took away the interception. That's not a foul. I mean, let's just disregard as to whether or not I think it was Breeland if I'm not mistaken, But this regard as to whether or not no Clark possibly after yet, But anyway, this regard the the fact of whether or not it is. Ah, hold or whether than that that Evans just kind of You know, almost manhandled him. It's a two step dropping a quick pass to another receiver. I mean that you have to go through a two step process. If you're an official, you look back. You see the hole you look back. And if the ball's already been thrown, it's not a found. It was impossible for that to be a foul on a two step drop, Quick pass that ended up being deflected. I mean and so You look at those What I consider mistake's that the officials made in the in the first half and you combine them with the actual the mistakes that the Chiefs made. I mean, you know, the field goal is I mean that that was not number 17. It was number one, not number 20. It was number 17 that we clearly lined up. And let's and let's not, and that's again and and that was my problem with the crew is that How do you miss that? I mean, it's wide open on your side of the field. I mean, you know the number. You must know the number because it's your person so You know, and that makes you look bad. Even though it was clearly a penalty. It just makes you look bad, So I just feel that it was unfortunate that the game was officiated. At a different standard from two weeks before I'm not necessarily an advocate for let them play, but on the other hand that calls that were made, not all of them. But a couple of the calls that were made were clearly I hate to use ticky tack, but they were. They were ticky tack. And then the pass interference play the Big one. The 34 yard passing if it's to me, was was, It was a just a Incorrect call. My Barry's Jonas. We're talking obviously about what happened in the Super Bowl yesterday them in really the second quarter where they got the 90 yards. I knew that rule and I was on my couch with probably 45. Tito's Probably would like you were. I'm not sure where you watch the game. But like you said, it was. We were yelling back and forth in our house because that's what I said. I said they just they tangled their feet and then it looks like Evans kind of sold it a little bit. You kind of jump to the ground because he figured we try to sell this thing, and maybe he fooled the official. That's that's the only thing I can see there. When you watch the official he doesn't seem to react immediately. I mean, he just continues to pay back and follow the play, which he has to do, because also, he has to figure out catch ability. Was it catchable in it? It would have been if it would have been if Evans didn't stumble and go down, So you've got a factor in that, but You know, then you look at the flag that does finally come in. And you know the the I mean, it looks like it's pass interference. And you know when I had you, you listen to the broadcast and Promo said that's clearly passing her parents and jeans territory really only talked about the catch ability of the past because that's what Rome Oh, question, But, um, yeah, it's just It's you know, and it's It's just It's amazing for me because I mean, I think most people if you're not a Kansas City fan, and I can't wait to go on a radio show it to a clock to 30 this afternoon in Kansas City E mean, they're most people, you know, probably still enjoyed watching the game and enjoy watching Tom Brady win number seven. And and I just didn't enjoy the game at all. I mean, I just because of what happened in the first half I It's like took me back. It took me back to the fifth. I was if I was The head of officiating. Still, that took me back to what I would feel like last night and what I would feel like today and it wouldn't be good. I mean, I knew that they were going. I knew there would be bridges to be mended, and that's basically what the Chiefs and you know, you can say. Well, let's go back to the Niners game last year, and the Chiefs manhandled the nine years they came into the game. The teeth did haven't practically the most defensive holding and deep end defensive pass interference. Penalties called against them. And yet in the Super Bowl last year against the Niners, none were called. So did they get the benefit last year of let him play type attitude and and and then obviously not, you can go back and say that and J all even at, But that's B s. I mean, You know to me that history and it all boils down to what happened yesterday, and I just honestly I just didn't enjoy the game. Yeah, we didn't either. And the broadcast was part of it, to be honest with you, But I hear what you're saying. And just a Kansas City didn't play. Well. I thought they were not well coach. The game management was poor. I'm going back to last year. They did call. You know the offensive P I on George Kettle right before halftime when he pushed off against Daniel Sorenson and that was a big play caused the 40 Niners of field goal and they play at the end of the game when they hit the last play. Eric Fisher, We thought was clearly holding Nick Bosa, and they didn't get that flank. So I didn't I didn't agree with you on that one. By the way, way. Remember the conversation? We're ago. I didn't think it was a foul but a ticky tack foul. Right. So when you know a lot of times when you go into a game in baseball and my crew co so go to this on Giants baseball is giving you a a scouting report. If you're going to go out when you got it, If you're gonna whack down a few vodka martinis with your clams at lunch, Murph, you better be able to keep it down. You got to be on the market to some degree artist. Hang with Garoppolo went on to a damn thing. I'm not trading Nick Bosa. I'm not trading Fred Warner, and I'm not trading George Kettle. But if I give up one of those guys, I think I can find a linebacker easier than the Sean John Watson. I think I can find a pass rusher and he's elite elite elite elite. He might be a Hall of Famer. But the Sean Watson's a Hall of Famer the most important position you can have. I don't agree with that. I think George Kettles a better football player than to Shawn, Watch the Knick. "I don't think I want to want to give up George Kettle or your friend Warner in front. Warner's even in a position where the Texans grab him. You're you know, there's if you're include him in some sort of trade. You know, he's not going to step on. The field without a new contract that's gonna pay in 15, plus a year 15 million plus a year. So doesn't make sense. Even for the Texans Toe Get a guy who's Ah high price guys, so I don't know It's a difficult one. But I mean, my recommendation would be and what I would think would happen is if the Texas make that decision that you know this isn't going to be something that they can work their way through. 40. Niners got to be on the phone calling on the phone and have to see if something is doable. And then from there, I think a lot of it has to do with out what other teams are offering because other teams have more to offer the Texans and draft picks in the 40. Niners. D O obviously, to Sean starts to because of the no trade clause, But let's let's let's step back from it from a minute. Because because I also remember a few months ago, you you're one of the few that That I think if backed into a corner, said a couple of months ago. I think that maybe somebody other than Garoppolo will be the starter week one. Well, how is that developed over the next couple of months, and what's your sort of overall view on it now? Yeah, It definitely was what I was thinking And I think what happened in you heard it late in the season and from both tile CNN in, uh, John Lynch was that they both came out and stated, And we expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be the starting quarterback, and I think they had just a little bit because of a situation like this. If the Shawn Watson were to fall in their laps, say it's really important for the Texans to get him out of the Out of the conference over into the NFC, But I think what probably happened was you look at it and you go. Okay? If not Jimmy Garoppolo. Then who and what's the price to get a quarterback that you're gonna want? Who can step in? What's the price in money? What's the price and draft picks? And just how does it set your team up? And so I think what happened was after after doing some of the initial due diligence, the thought within the organization became. It's just not gonna make sense. We we can't do it. So you know are they 100% committed to Jimmy Garoppolo next season? No, but I think they're pretty darn close to it, and they certainly want to They certainly want to send that message to Garoppolo before the start of the offseason that Hey, we trust in you. You know the old thing, right? I'm your our quarterback until you're not our quarterback, But you don't ever want to send that message that this guy isn't your quarterback without knowing for sure. Uh, that you can. You can do something better. So just from a confidence standpoint for is standing within the organization you really Do you have to send that match a message that he's coming back, But I think I think, however you and I cut this thing up and look at it and toss around the ideas. Remember now late in the season, and I heard you was going heading into December. There was a possibility for theirs could be selecting like five or six. Sure, and then was a couple wins. You know, now it became their selecting 12. And so that that's a lot right there where you cannot. You simply cannot go into a draft at number 12 banking on getting the quarterback that's gonna be your quarterback for the next dozen years. By the way before we leave this one entirely..

As far as the voting is concerned, Friend Warner got 39. Bobby Wagner, 35, Darius Leonard 18. So Fred Warners and all pro and he was voted top linebacker. Pretty good. Very good. And it boy, does that my sheriff that comes a really good time for the 40 Niners Because now I think we've talked about this. After the third year on your initial contract, you can become eligible for a new deal. And this is the exact same situation that George Kettle in the 40 Niners were in a year ago, kid all ended up signing a deal for about 15 year. And I gotta believe that's going to be a very similar number that Fred Warner will get going into his fourth and final year of the contract. And you know, I would suspect it. The advisers to Fred Warner. Are telling him that there's no way you should step on the field and take any risk until you get that kind of security. So we'll see if red warning light in the same way that candle did. I would think he would another both young, smart leaders that Uh, you know, Art's all about themselves. They're They're just really good teammates, good players. They they're basically everything you want in a player on the field off the field. And so, you know, Warner. I'm sure we'll be taking part in activities and meetings and and continuing to be a leader. But, uh, you have the same pattern holds. You know, shortly before the 40 hours, are scheduled to get on the field and put pads on. Maybe there will be a new deal for Fred Warner to keep him around for the long term as well. Yeah, you brought that up all last offseason with George and you ask George point blank several times, and, um, he wound up signing right before the phrase he had so I could run through people's faces. Hard to write on somebody's face. If it's gonna, you know, knock your wallet out of your pocketbook. So I hear you the question would be And I ask this with the George deal and that they'd went. They wound up getting him new money. But I guess Fred's gonna jump from under a million won 9 20 or something up. You know, because of the things he had in his contract is Ricky Deal About two million this year, Matt Do they have to give him new money this year or could they signed him to an extension that would take effect and the 2022 year or do you think he's gonna insist on a new money this year? Well, it's all about the guaranteed money. You know, the fully guaranteed. Uh, you know, he's a smart enough guy that he would know you kind of where Where we are, as far as the entire NFL at the salary cap. So you know, I'm sure he will work with the 40 Niners. He and his records representational work with three hours as much as they can, But, yeah, they're certainly ways where You know, he'll get sun up front money, But there are ways to trigger that deal so that you know it's it's fully guaranteed. But maybe the payouts come later. And in any case, the upfront money he gets would be spread out for camp purposes over four or five years. So you know there's a way To make both sides happy. You know, T give him the long term security he wants And for the 40 Niners did not get crushed on the salary cap ear one because next year in 2022, I would fully suspect that that capital rise significantly. You know, this will be This year. 2021 will be the first year that the salary cap has ever fallen, and I would think that with new media deals coming in, and, you know, let's hope that fan's air safely back in NFL stadiums this coming season. He talked about his curiosity of seeing what a top flight left tackle me. What's what somebody worth in his level? Because, you know, when you look at it, it's crazy. And he was 100% correct. You It's crazy that there's never been an offensive tackle hit the market in the prime of his career, and you look at you know the all decade selections of the 2000 and 2010. There's been some trades. Jason Peters left from the bills to the Eagles. There've been some other movement with, say, Orlando Pace and Willie Roaf very late in their careers, But in all decade type left tackle such as Joe Seeley, Uh, those guys They get locked in and they don't move and may be there. "We're to get into the fifty three man roster. So today, we're going to make some projections I did a roster projection heading into training camp was on July twenty seven I had Jalen Hurd making the team I had Sean Coleman making the team. I had a few other players that they're just not going to make the team for whatever reason. So we're going to do that again today after trying to cap after all the news after everything we've seen and read and it will let's just compare to see what's changed since. So start with the first things first quarterback, Jimmy, Garoppolo, nick, mullins, CJ, Beathard I think they all make the roster I. Don't think that that's going to be very you know very controversial. It should be. I mean yeah. I I. Agree I all three of them making the roster as well. Especially, this season with Cova did I imagine that most teams will try to carry three quarterbacks if they can especially just given you know you never know. What happens if Garoppolo or mullins or you know they were to test positive or whatever the case is right and they were mistime than having Beth who understands the system? He's not great by any means just having them in the building is going to be advantage. Advantageous this season. I made this comment to someone else earlier Beth. `Red to George Kettle is Kinda of like you know James Jones or Mike Miller was. and. Lebron he's like teams back in the day. He used to have like those guys like travel with him. I think CJ beathard and George kind of like that George must have somewhere in his contract that Caesar method must be on the roster wherever he is. It'd be a risk that I'd be willing to take, and I would much rather have you know a position player as opposed to you know a third string quarterback that major.
