"Psychological help. Anyhow, this weekend, the girlfriend and I, we watched the George call and documentary on HBO, the prolific Judd Apatow produced and God bless him because it's so great knowing all about George Collin and how he became who he became. And it wasn't all pretty. As you can imagine, his rise was rough and it was spotted with many times he had no money, a lot of doubt, terrific marital issues, even being canceled. There were times where people said, George Collin doesn't mean anything anymore. She can Chong famously said, he's obsolete at one point. But George Collin persevered, and he's known as the father of a comedic movement that hasn't been seen since Lenny Bruce. And for my money, Lenny Bruce never made me laugh once. But Colin, a million laughs. You know how many times I had my friends over to listen to his comedy album a.m. FM? It went on from 6th grade to high school. The hippie dippy weather man. Oh, but the things he did, the class clown album. I mean, it's hard for kids nowadays to imagine they all have their iPhones, the world is in the palm of their hands. They can see anything they want. I banged up some George Carlin stuff for rock on the difference between football and baseball and he was dying. That baseball football bit was such a huge thing when I was a kid. It's really, really one of the reasons why I didn't play baseball, even though I love the game. Because of George Collins bit and with apologies to those of you who know it, some of you who don't, it's brilliant and it stands up to this day. George Carlin was saying football, you wear a helmet. In baseball, you are a count. Football is concerned with downs. What down is it? Baseball is concerned with ups. Who's up? In football, you receive a penalty. In baseball, you make an error. In football, the specialist comes in to kick. In baseball, the specialist comes in to release somebody. Football has hitting clipping spearing piling on personal fouls late hitting and unnecessary roughness. These ball has the sacrifice footballers played in any kind of weather rain snow sleet hail fog. Baseball, if it rains, we don't go out and play. Baseball has the 7th inning stretch football has the two minute warning. Baseball has no time limit. We don't know when it's going to end. Football is rigidly timed and will end even if we've gotten to sudden death. You get the point. It was brilliant. And watching my son's face light up listening to that, it just made me know that George Collin is the best, the best there ever was. So that documentary you've got to see. It's so amazing to see how close he came to being canceled. How many times his career was over, but what really got to me was that he just stuck to who he was. He stuck to the kind of person he knew he needed to be and that was the key to his success. It's a great lesson for all of us, no matter what line of work you're in. If you beat yourself, if you be the person you're destined to be, you'll have a wonderful life. Oh, by the way, put a pin in that. Did you guys know this? All of a sudden, I find out that all female hyenas have functional penises. Did you guys know this? They use it to pee to signal to anally mount males and females for dominance and give birth. I didn't know this to be the case. We have like transgender coyotes, oh hyenas I should say? I forget why that came up. You know, sometimes tootsie will be on bed with me. I'll put my hand up and she'll jump on my hand and start doing the humpty hump on it. You know how dogs deal with your foot if you're sitting down. She can't reach. She's not touching my elbow with her private part. I don't know why she's doing it. It's seen some sort of descendant from the hyena. As their DNA in there that makes them think they can go melt somebody and do some damage. Very weird, intersex plumbing. I looked it up. It's found that all females of the spotted hyena and Tanzania. They started investing in this back in 1939. I think that's fast. I never knew this. Never knew this. These hyenas are not hermaphrodites, they say, rather, they're intersex like some female bears are as well. How do I not know this? It's 60 years old. Those Demi Lovato know this? 'cause I feel like she's gonna continue to be the pied piper of old people with gender identity issues. It seems every other goddamn week there's a new young celebrity who feels that they gotta switch genders and that's the start to fucking up everything. I'm gonna talk about another young female celebrity who's doing the same thing, having the same thoughts on tomorrow's Patreon. It's getting out of hand. Why don't these things happen to black kids and Latino kids? I don't see these things happening outside of California and New York. So don't tell me, it's just something that we all have to get used to. No, it's bullshit. It's bullshit. Anyhow, getting off that subject. Let's talk about what we're going to talk about today. The other day, one of you asked me on the page, do I know anything about the amityville horror house? And I started to laugh. Because the number of nights, me and my buddies went to that house. Okay, let me set the stage. First of all, the amityville horror house was four towns of what? So back then in the day 1979, the killings happened in 74, but in 79, my buddy Ronnie Kennedy was the first one of us to get his license and a car. And he had a Pinto and the old Pinto's Ronnie had a yellow Pinto. He was the first to pass his driving test that his dad gave him this little Pinto and we all piled in. I mean, to have a friend who could actually drive during lunch at school so you can go to McDonald's off campus. We felt like king shit. And the car could take us anywhere. Oh my God, there was nothing better at that age. Nowadays, you got to force your kid to take the driver's test. Force him to think about driving a car. Kids don't think about that now. They won't go away? I can over. You must drive a car. So back then, we used to get an 8 pack or 8 pack or typically a 6 pack, but sometimes an 8 pack of Schmidt's beer. I know it sounds disgusting. I'm not even sure if it's still out. Schmidt's were a dollar 25 for a 6 pack. But rather than pay for it, it was much cooler to steal it. At least to go to a place called Jackie wren's beverage and beer. Why he put the end beer part, I don't know. It always made us laugh. But it was a pretty big place, and I'm sure every town in America has that type of joint to suit all the kids becoming old enough to drink. In my town, west Iceland, there were 12 elementary schools, two junior high schools and two high schools for a little town. It certainly had to accommodate the baby boom, like I've said before, it was every day there was 15 to 40 kids who wanted to play. It was beyond belief. There was always a game capable of softball stickball

"In this sort of way. And I think that it's less that comedy is like people also still can say whatever they want. None of these people have been deplatformed. These people in fact have the biggest audience and they're making a ton of money. Anyone has ever had it any time it has never been more lucrative to free speech you're not getting arrested. You're not getting jailed. Yes, if we want to talk about someone who was free speech and wanted to stand for that, let's talk about George Carlin. These people that are talking money. It's like literally got arrested for saying things on principle for a saying, these are things that we are not allowed to say legally. They literally changed the legal system of the United States with their comedy. These are people that want to say things that are being like, oh, you can't we can say we don't like what you say, either make it funnier or don't say it. So George Collins thing was he had a bit or an act about the words that you're not allowed to say and he got arrested for that at one point or something like that, right? This was based on a Lenny Bruce Lenny Bruce being arrested for the same thing. About ten years prior. And I think George Carlin was there allegedly when he was arrested. But he said the 7 words you can't say on television. It's documented on a comedy album called class clown. And he was arrested at a live performance of this in a Milwaukee summer fest. I love summerfest. So he performed he opened the wisconsinites were not having it. You know that for sure. And he can say midwesterners. They are barely saying heck, you know? So I imagine that really moved the needle shout out to anyone who's listening to the Midwest. I don't even think he necessarily did the bit he just was using profanity and they said this was a family event. And so you can't do that. And so he was arrested, but it went on to be part of a Supreme Court case. Wow. Find this Pacifica. Pacifica foundation, FCC versus Pacifica. And we got eventually it took years, obviously, but like legal precedent was changed. His album is in his in the national archive for historical significance because these are the 7 words and it led to these landmark cases. It's still something that's argued today. I think it actually is maybe not even decided. There's several articles about this that I skimmed. Through and through. So that's interesting though in terms of the bounds of comedy and what's permissible in a comedic context in certain times or places or cultures or time frames versus what's not. And also the nature of what's in good taste, being somewhat contextual as well as I know even today there's different comedians like it's often remarked upon how Seinfeld prefers not to curse in his comedy that he does like a quote unquote like a clean act in terms of not using curse words and when asked about that once one of the reasons he gave was he said that it felt too easy for him that it's too easy to get a joke or a laugh out of a curse word, whereas it's much harder if you don't do that and use it as a crutch was part of his rationale. I was seeing Seinfeld live and I, you know, I wasn't a huge fan or whatever I watched the show. He's, I know he's one of the greats. But I was blown away. He did he ran on stage in an hour and a half and ran off like he had so much energy. And he was 61 when I saw him. And he made an effort to the first hour just be all Seinfeld style observation, and then the last half hour was a little bit more loose still not profane in any way, still clean, but about his family and about observations within his personal life, which I thought was a really just a really fun thing to watch someone actually, oh yeah, you want to give me a challenge, yeah, I'll take it. I think he did. I'm curious where in the chart is his anti hugging stance. He's very anti hugging. There's a great clip of kesha trying to give him a hug, and he's like, nah. I'm curious. I'm curious where he is no touching. Policy well, which we could talk about on a different level. But I think he's so he's so earthy to me and I think there's like an efficiency in terms of like he works very hard and admittedly in terms of like crafting jokes working on that and to have it be something that can then go from stage to screen can performed anywhere. Why would you kind of like adjust yourself and that's also very tourist to me. My comfort. Show about nothing. There was another, there was a quote too of something about tourists being simple and. Yeah, all of that where I think that that is it is that whatever you feel about cursing, it does elicit responses and people that's different than that it is also distracting from the material potentially. Sometimes I think it's more punctuation and it fits, it fits the comedian, but I think Jerry Seinfeld cursing we'd all go like, no, we don't. The money. You're going to hit a wider audience if you can perform anywhere. You could be your material works in any space and kids can understand it in adults while also enjoy it. And he's like a children's. Well, he's right. He's financially. Be a movie good God. He's ready to work. And that's very great. Two of that word. This is stuff that works. That brings up other things like one is like issues of luck and fortune and timing and sometimes people just being in the right place in the right time at the right place and being incredibly lucky like Seinfeld to a certain extent with just get landing that show with Larry David and the way that they were able to get that and then become wildly successful. It eventually have the most popular show in Hollywood or on television and then also other themes like when a person hits the peak of their career or sometimes peaks and there's occasionally there's people that are like widely like Seinfeld for example hitting the peak with that in the 1990s with his TV show and being like widely applauded versus like sometimes it's interesting seeing a person like a comedian hitting the high point in their career and being the most successful or the most widely recognized but also having some of the greatest hardships at that time.

"I'm not sure. Is it because it's because it's dated or it's because you know it so well. Well, if you listen to the quality of it, it's very toned down, right? It's still funny. But I think it was more when it was more original. When you first heard it, it had more of an effect on you. I think they might have aged well. I didn't really, I started listening. I'm like, ah, maybe it's past. I'll tell you the most recent, and this is going back ten 50. Maybe more than that 20 years ago, probably one of the funniest, I guess, cassettes that I ever listened to was the jerky boys. Oh my God. Dude. Did you listen? It was brilliant. Fucking brilliant. How early were you on the jerky boys? Because I'll tell you from the beginning. I was into the jerky boys when it was just a blank cassette. It was handwritten. So before they actually had a record, you know, those cassettes actually were kind of like passed around kind of almost had an unbound thing. I laughed my ass off on some of those things. Oh, it was just I could go down the list and it was brilliant. But too big, too fast. Mentions red's bar, which is really where the jerky boys kind of pulled their idea from. I don't know if it was directly from it, but kind of the same thing. For those of you that don't know red's bar, there was a bar in New York, I believe it was. And there were people that would call and prank the owner, much like you saw in The Simpsons. That's where that bit came from. In the owner used to just go absolutely Berserk. Which, of course, made them do it ten times more. So yeah, Perry, Perry's talking about George Collin and he says that his bits still hold up. And I agree with you, Perry. I think that his old bits still hold up. My issue with George Collin and look, I think he got to a point where he got more cynical, less funny. He got those late days he got really political and he you didn't have as many laughs. But he made fucking all the sense in the world. That was. That was his comedy. He made all the sense in the world. He made it, he told it to you in a way that it hasn't been told to you. And it was almost enlightening comedy. Because his delivery was still good. George Collins delivery never faded. You know? The walking around, the bend it over, the eyes open, you know, act talking to you like you're an idiot, you know, sometimes his delivery and his presence on stage is what made that. But it became like Dennis Miller. It's very intelligent humor. Very intelligent humans. The thinking man's humor. Well, I agree with you in terms of Dennis Miller is thinking man's humor, but I think that everybody that we had mentioned. I think the ability to be able to craft stories and to make observations in the tournament to something that makes people laugh requires a certain amount of genius. So I could say, I could say that growing up, so no matter where I went in the world. When I was in the air force, if you were from winthrop around the time we grew up together, you commanded an audience, storytelling is just a natural, it's just a natural, it becomes a natural ability for most of us to tell a good story, right? And it wasn't anything that we tried to do. It was the people that you were telling it to could not believe what you did, what you were talking about. But we just were naturally good storytellers, not all of us. Not all of us because it's not a, it's not instantaneous. But I definitely can speak for myself where I could command an audience and I'm telling a story. And you know the delivery, like you said, but what is it that the what pause the negative space? The negative space. I mean, it all works. You fine tune it over the years, right? You've been all over the world. You've worked in many places. You've worked with many people. You fine tune that. The ability. There's no question, and I will share a very quick story that that relates to what we're talking about. I had a woman that was working for me. I actually hired her, not once, not twice, but three separate times, brilliant woman, bachelor's degree, master's degree, MBA and whatnot. And we were sitting in a cocktail lounge. I think in Hong Kong. And out of nowhere, she said, you know what amazed me? She was like, you have carved out a creative and successful career by the sheer will of your personality. Yeah. And I said, I said, oh, thanks. And then I thought about it for a second. And I said, did you just call me dumb? Yeah, I mean, that goes with it. And that's what these guys have to bring a full circle. They fine tune the craft of telling a story. Now this comedians that tell jokes and this comedians that have different styles, but there's very few that a storytellers and Dave Chappelle has mastered the art of storytelling. No question. And they work on it, of course. They get to go on any stage they want any night they want at the comedy club, the comedy store. And work on their material. But the fact remains that when Dave Chappelle goes up on stage, he's not like Bill Burr. Bill Burr still tells a good story. But Dave Chappelle brings you in. He draws you into it. It's very cerebral. And then he starts dropping, and then he hits you and then he goes back to the story. It's just brilliant. Noah McDonald could tell a whole story. He could tell a 15 minute story, right? And you die and the whole time. Yeah. Look, I'm not comparing myself to any of those people, but I will tell you that about a month ago I was down in Dallas. And in front of, I don't know, maybe a hundred people we were doing a two day training. And I walked up, didn't say hello, didn't tell them who I was. Didn't give them my pedigree or my credentials or anything. I walked up and I started telling a story. And I went into it and I will tell you that they were on the edge of their seats and I had them laughing and later on in the program when we were talking about the art of storytelling. I actually told them. I was like, if you think about that story that we led with. I didn't do that because I wanted to tell a story. I mean, I always want to tell stories, but the simple fact of the matter is, is it was a great way to actually start the program because it immediately engaged them. They were listening, they were interested. I set the tone for the meeting. I had them laughing, got them comfortable, got them involved right out of the gate, and that is really the art and the genius of being really good at that. And I'm not saying that I am, but I'm saying that those are your good at telling story. I'm good at telling a story. I know, you know, Phil Kelly's gonna tell in a story. There's a bunch of us. But what you just said, you break it down even more. How you introduced it by not introducing.

"Chester from Lincoln park, Lincoln park, yeah. So, you know, kind of crazy. And that seems to kind of slightly subsided. You know, you definitely have people that are still passing. And it's going to continue on just, you know, just because of where they are in their own individual journeys. You know, rock and roll, those old rock and roll is from the 50s and 60s, and even 70s are getting older and they're getting sick and it's a natural thing. But it seems like we've had a real blip, a death parade of comedians. I know. Think about it. I actually wrote this down. So in 2000 and September of 2021, we lost Norm Macdonald. 61 from acute leukemia. And then one of the funniest guys in the world. Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Nobody likes them. I like them. I love Norm Macdonald. There's something on YouTube. I think he's on, I can't remember if it's, I think it's Conan, where he actually was on Conan a lot. He tells a story about going on vacation in plain scrapple. I've probably watched it 20 times, and I laughed, I laughed just as hard now, is when I did the first time that I watched it. The only person I think that could tell a story better, or just as good as Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle could tell a fucking great story. Hilarious. He did it as delivery was flawless. Yeah. But so he passed in September of 2021 at the age of 61 from acute leukemia. Then Louis Anderson died in January from lymphoma. It was 68. Then you have Bob Saget that died on January 9th. He had a skull fracture and there's some mystery surrounding his death. And then most recently we lost Gilbert Godfrey. Last that we just lost them last week, he had ventricular tachycardia, I believe. I mean, I mean, think about that. You know what online, if you look, there's a couple of photos with those guys all together. If you were to look at that photo a year ago, you never would have guessed that all of them would be gone. They all came up together. If you think about it. Yeah. They all came up together. I'll tell you what, not many people were a better roasters than Gilbert Gottfried was. That was his thing. At those roasts, a guy is fire. He was hilarious. Absolutely fire. It's unique as they come. You either liked him, you either love them or you did it. You know what's funny. What's that? We were talking about, you know, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are the Super Bowl kind of reigniting people's careers. The other thing that does it is death. Yeah. And one piece of evidence regarding that is that I don't think my daughter Vanessa really knew who Gilbert Gottfried is. I know that she probably knew him from the Affleck commercials and from Aladdin and whatnot. But yesterday, and even this morning around the house, I kept hearing Gilbert Gottfried's voice. His passing prompted her to kind of research him a little bit to get to understand who he was and what he actually brought to the craft into the world and whatnot. And she rediscovered him. Yeah. And which is cool. But the thing that, you know, I started thinking about, you know, the comedians that had passed. And then it made me think about, okay, our show in milk crates and turntables, and we spend a lot of time talking about the music that we listen to when we were growing up, and it made me start to think about the comedy records that we listened to when we were kids. You know, so, you know, I wrote down just a quick list. I can't believe that when I was a little kid that I used to play cheech and Chong. Yeah. My parents will have a blink and I no, I still have big bamboo with their giant rolling paper in the album. Yeah. Those guys were hilarious. Yes. Yeah. Where is it? Stays man, I got the same. They've not here, man. Who? It's dead. I get the stuff open up the door. Dave? Dave's not here. No, it's hilarious. He says it like this. Dave's not here, man. They date, not Dave's not here, man. I'm Dave. I'm Dave. Dave, nah, nah, Dave's not here. But also cheech and Chong, you know, Robin Williams, I remember that was a huge album. Steve Martin was enormous when we were kids. He was playing, you know, places like the Boston guy, 15,000 seaters for a couple of years. He was just huge. That was an iconic album. And it was so like, he purposely said shit. Just stupid shit on purpose. He was more intelligent. He was so smart, he knew this would work. Like he took the most childish things. And made them funnier than they really were. I made you think about it. It was very smart humor. Everyone can look at it and say, ah, it's dumbed down. It's not none of these guys are dumb. I'll tell you that. Yeah. But I never listened to the Robin Williams album. You know what? So this is probably not a popular thing to say, but I am not and have never been a big fan of Robin Williams. Comedy. I said, I respect it. You know, I love, but for me, it was too manic. You know who was idle as who he mimicked himself after. John Jonathan Winters. Yeah. Now that guy was fucking funny. He was hilarious. But I actually appreciated Robin Williams more for his acting capabilities than his comedy. I thought it was no question about it. No question about it. Funny, funny, funny guy could be hilarious, but his stand up didn't do much for me. Yeah. So Perry did it was just said 7 words you can't say on TV, but you guys. Great George, the great George Collin, but we can. Do you remember? Do you remember? George Collins isn't there's another one. I can't believe that our parents let us listen to them. Let's go back before that. Bill Cosby. You know what? It's on my list as well. Dude. I know forget his current situation. My father used to have us listening to that. Bill Cosby was another one that could tell a fucking story. That fat Albert story was well, it led to a whole cartoon. If you wanted to do it, you'll find it on YouTube, Bill Cosby's fat Albert story. That shit was and still is fucking funny. Yeah. You know what? This may be a little bit of a stretch, but this is what I was thinking about it as particularly as it pertained to Bill Cosby. I think that when we were kids and all of us, as kids, when we were listening to those records, it kind of..

"Mingle with everyone no. I've never been a big holiday for me. I was a kid. I'd go and watch the fireworks now. I it kind of bothers me because we've always had pets and fireworks drive the dog's totally crazy people. Forget how sensitive the hearing is they can hear things. We can't hear the fireworks. Is you know it's like you going in pauley led a fighter but this younger do it in my bathtub. It would bother you right but a lot of people would say. They've got these jackets. Four dogs for animals like these heavy jackets they call. I think they call them thunder. Bess like even if you have a thunderstorm and that's where this is where my wife and i differ. I'm like there's no difference between having fireworks and having a thunderstorm that comes through well. You can control fireworks. I know i know you can control fireworks. But i think that we should celebrate our independent now. Granted some jack asses will fire stuff up till one o'clock in the morning. And those people are hype. Split split benadryl in half and give it calms the dog down. Give one to one and a half. We one dog after the dog. The new the new vet that we were at. I'm there is a woman there that said she was getting. Oh god what she getting zanex. Was she getting xanax. There was something that she was getting for dogs because the upcoming weekend and she's like I don't i don't wanna kill my dog in the lays like oh no no no just give them half now so they can get used to it and then give them a full one. I think it was zanex. We when we took our dog katie cross country. She did not like riding in cars. You get fidgety. And the doctor says get benadryl break benadryl and half and give it to them and we gave it to him for like two days and the third day. He was already used to be in the car. We didn't give too many but people are saying you know. Hey keep in mind that fireworks the ptsd now when people say understand this man and bear with me. Ptsd is what they call. What post dramatic shops in them. Well it was called. Shell shock at one time. And now they like george collins said they've they've smooth it out so it's more palatable it's it used to be called d. now called s which is post traumatic stress syndrome. It's not a disorder. They took the disorder out of it. But think about all right so we still have. What's what's World war two. Do we still have war two veterans. Yes we still have some many left. Not many left all right and then after that you have korea vietnam vietnam korea and then you had what desert storm and then you had what else after desert storm then. We had the gulf war gulf war. And then what else that was right. I mean basically as far as like big wars big televise wars that were sitting there complaining about making movies about right so my my concern was. Ptsd in world war two. I can understand what we're too because how many hundreds and thousands of troops and in my boring you over there didn't sleep last night. How many hundreds of thousands of troops that we had that was involved in world war. Two i can understand. Ptsd in that. Same thing with vietnam vietnam we had. How many hundreds and that saw i mean literally saw combat like you're sitting there in a transient boom. Your friend blew up next. And you're on holy shit. I got his blood on my face. And then you gotta korea korea wars the whole thing and itself and then you got into desert storm desert storm. I think we have like ten thousand troops and lost. Maybe five thousand is a loss. Maybe like dropping a bucket. But it's not we lost. Maybe a couple thousand troops yet. I think we did very well considerably right. But what i'm saying is the amount of number of people that are now suffering with ptsd war versus troops involved in the war troops that were involved in the war that actually saw action and then troops. It's all actions that have returned home to have ptsd. I think those numbers have increasingly decreased that you have more. It was eight years. they spend afghantistan in kuwait. And i just think that. It's i think people know more. There's more news. And i just. It's a mess for people right but what i'm saying is i don't think the the ratio of population of humans. How many how many people do we have in the united states. Three hundred and three hundred sixty million somewhere on all right and then. The percentage of people that are suffering right now this weekend coming up suffering from d. Is what do you think. Two percent four percent point four percent. Even if it's one. I mean it's that one person with this suffering no. Well yeah. so they're saying that you know. Fireworks are do fireworks. We shouldn't that because of our animals. Hello thunderstorms same thing. And and this only happens one one time a year. How many times the thunderstorms happened. I really can't think of anyone. Someone shooting off fireworks on july. They're going to go driving if you're doing them inside their house. So in my opinion this is what's going to happen because you know people don't want you to milk cows. People don't want you to have cheese. People don't want you to have butter. What i'm what i'm seeing in this administration that we have right now before this administration is done and out of office. I guarantee you. Fireworks are going to be banned in statewide but only only on like disney can only doom and universal. Students can do them. An only places that can populate are have like fiesta. Texas or any of the six flags theme parks are the only ones that are going to be allowed to have fireworks. I think they have much more pressing issues than that. I really wanted to so many other things that have to be seen what this administration has done so far. No i watched much of it. I know i know we try. We try to be light and fluffy here but this is the thing people are saying. Don't don't you don't fireworks now. I understand it. If for example here at the house if i start lighting all frigging mortars that i bought from joe johnson down the road and the guy next door. Who has a dog that you know. Can you not do that. Because my dog kind of freaks alphabet you know what i'll do it up to what they call it like a safe zone or the twilight that sound silence. You're only allowed to have noise or party or anything up until ten o'clock to ten o'clock. There's that little macho stays up until ten o'clock tonight. I know but what i'm saying is there's got to be a limit like i can sit there and blair my music all day long and let's say cut off nine o'clock and then maybe ten o'clock if you here late like a lot of music after eleven o'clock and you know here in the country sound travels and you're only going. Hey these guys are you know. It's it's eleven o'clock eleven. Thirty twelve o'clock is so partying. Keep me up. I work in the morning. But i mean there's got to be cut off no fireworks after ten o'clock and our neighborhood. We hear them twelve thirty one o'clock in the morning people are shooting shooting them off. Oh we got. We got people in the in the property behind us. The other fifty acres behind us. They're testing out their guns and they sit there bang bang bang bang bang bang every year. You look at the fireworks in this one or two stories about somebody that you know. Thought the fireworks didn't go off and all of a sudden. They looked down the tube bluest hand off and they blew the head off the football player to lost a bunch of fingers on it and it seems like there's a tragedy every year with and it's and the one guy the one guy who's running around with the roman candle actually the whole thing exploded on his head his fucking head off. The people. people are nuts with them. They are not.

"We're going to do a full episode on ad love to I haven't scheduled anything because of the strangeness of this whole situation. But what i did do is after we left theater. Set down with my parents to talk about godzilla vs kong and the experience of going back to the theater. And it's about as ridiculous as the other times. I've had my parents on so that's coming up here in a second but As always wanna remind you to make sure subscribe to piecing it together or wherever you listen to podcasts. You could follow us on social media at piecing pod and don't forget about our facebook group popcorn puzzle pieces and of course. This is not a regular episode. So if you're just randomly joining me for the first time and here this. This isn't what the show is. But i hope you enjoy anyway. Check out some of our other episodes. And let's get into that conversation now about godzilla vs com. So we just got back from seeing godzilla vs kong. And i'm sitting here with my parents. You guys doing players from google. We are doing fine. Thank you and thank you for the tickets. Oh yeah absolutely. Awesome the best seats in the house. Oh yeah definitely not your own seats. There handicaps exit was delightful. I got a few questions asked you guys. And so we'll go through 'em and talk about the move along the way The first things. I will start with your mom. Were you team kong or team godzilla. Going into this. Everybody knows me well does that. I was an enormous fan a godzilla. I probably saw almost all his movies. So i love king kong. And he was he was great as a wools. You remind me of. I think cyrus and return of the planet of the apes like that too much of a beard. The con was neatly shaved out. Take your pill alarm. yeah now. I'm always godzilla forever. What about you dad. Always always king kong right. That's what i was to always able submit asleep every time out of those that too and i gave away all my god zillah figures remember. I even had a god silly of curtain. I gave everything to my great nephew. Alight for goal. I had some really nice figurines. They're not little tinies big guys. Yeah did you keep any of it. Nope gave it all to you. Well along the same lines. Do you have a favorite either godzilla or king kong movie before this. I always like the originals. The first ones no always. I'm down with that. Black is also. Yeah nineteen fifty. I remember the first godzilla i verse. Congress favorite gautier nine months later. Believe it or not. I did get that much now. It didn't do well. no not at all. And i've i think maybe i've seen godzilla with mick godzilla before and with mothra and a couple of other guys are still are. I knew i knew they were putting together. I just i had that feeling. I said This is bad. it's mechnic odds zillah and there's gonna be shit going down real. That's the as well as a monkey. A monkey electrical too robot. I don't like robots. I don't do robots. Don't do sifi. Luke could was gorgeous off a little doll virola she. She was endurance. Will girl will forgetting about mega godzilla for a second. I did you guys. See the original king kong vs godzilla. Most likely but i don't remember i can. If you want. I can show you a couple of them. Debt has a brand new godzilla movie for me in the bedroom. As a matter of fact they brought me. It's probably from last thirtyish. I go get it to that now. i don't need to see. There's a lot of them are not that good. No and mothra watched that just two weeks ago. It wasn't translated was all subtitles. But i enjoy it. you know. She was protecting her babies That's what well This movie charlie's pissing let them. That was a long ways for a little good boy. Janse jolly so lou. This was all first time back to the theater. And a longtime because covid. Yes was this movie you would have picked to go see back in the theater or did you just go because i made you good. I might have gone to see in the theater. I just. I do not like that. Hell a little bit of scifi shitting. And i really i want. Don't you know. I hated the last one that i saw with the last night. Dallas awful been diesels coming back with. I can't wait now. I might have seen a few of godzillas in the movies. I really don't remember the last four or five movies you went to see with me. Were a big monster. Movies shows that my brain is getting smaller and smaller with age. Which shriveling up. Well what do you think setting aside how much you liked the movie. We'll get to that in a second. How much do you think this movie. Delivered on. The premise of godzilla fighting king kong. I would have like a few more fight scenes but the ones that were there. Were completely epic and i don't know how they did it if it said. Cgi should or whatever. But i loved the fight scenes. A couple more wouldn't hurt For king of course well. He's got humanity july. I've i fell asleep action. And he got a phone call. And that sorta stops things. A little bit of flour goal aside from falling asleep. What was your favorite part about the movie when he the girl from stranger days Make sure her eyes of wide. I just i was waiting for eno Talk about the ending you can. I was waiting for fist-bump. I would love that. Just fiscal and now at the end. Godzilla and king kong. I did i tell you. I just me. Who's that with. The building. And i said oh. God building maximum godzilla. Oh my god. And then at the end i said you when he was down kong and he's really down and he was weasing and shit and i said you owe garrity. He's coming back he's gonna save godzillas real good zeleny did what do you think. Fist-bump is save. Oh god i think we all knew that they were going to team up. One way or be another sequel. The music was a little bit. I thought music was a little bit much. I it was wonderful. Yeah but it was like shattering and there was enough action on on the screen that they didn't have to try so i won't say anything dirty but it was like come on. Gimme a break so the music was. Maybe your least favorite part of the mood. You say now the humans with favorite part actually believe it or not. I would say this is some of the best human story. They've had in one of these movies in a long time. Because that's usually the worst. I do you remember any of the story elements from the last few godzillas or king. Kongs also cherise on them but what about the more recent ones. You didn't go to any of those. What about the last king kong. You remember that kong. John young night john goodman nine. That was the last one to peter. Jackson was gray. Oh i love that one. Yeah that seat comes flying out. It's almost like that was whether we triumph writing this movie. A lot of three kind of stuff without three dimensional would've liked it in three d. that could The only other one. I've seen ten years in three days probably piranha three d. Which of course. Those movies in class by themselves on a series. Well those are definitely is. That were inspired by originals. Yes absolutely well. I think we kind of got the point of of what you guys thought of them will be any closing thoughts on the movie itself. And then i'll ask you a couple of other things. I it's fun. It's a lot of fun and Comfortable seats good popcorn. Well it was very noisy for somebody to sleep. Why otherwise they had enough of another action going on to make a good kiddie movie. Like an adult movie. Children could see that camping short made. I think so. I would take my kids to see it with you. Did they got. What did you think about being back to the movies. After all this time. I feel pretty good about it. I didn't know about yeah. I i'm sorry i didn't have any sanitizer. The favorite thing was king. Come up the finger cake. It was supposed to be that this movies it was supposed to be. Something similar was similar. Well he's got the little kid that he communicates with. That was kinda thing a little different. It is a little different. I like a little kid. Did you like being back to the theater. Yes yes i did. And especially having my son buy tickets and especially. The theater was less than half full delightful and there were no tall Drifts in front of me. Yeah it was very comfortable. Shut up charlie. Charlie you being noisy during the podcast is not right days. Well any last words. Before because this up now i thank you for getting tickets and i thank you for picking me up and i thank you forgetting your dad's car seat enough to walk extra overall. I would give them movie on a scale of ten about an eight point five. Okay so i would say yes. I enjoyed it. What about you dad. Well i give the movie. If i point eight but about nate. Wouldn't give it a nine or anything close to you. I'm leaning towards eight point five or nine j. I loved it. I like the monster. The other months not on his show yet. Gene is not here right now. Well that's it for godzilla vs kong but since man gene. Our next trip to the theater is probably gonna be the scene. Nobody had quickly tell us what you thought. Nobody because i know you. Just watch the i i loved. It was like a takeoff on Is supposed to be like john. Wick dot job of the guy. From okay you bruce willis. From what movie diehard diehard. I thought it was a diehard type movie. I love those type of movies. And i like tam. Everyone likes die hard. But i fifteen minutes and nobody. I have never seen anything will boring in my entire life. I would rather watch. As george called. Lake george collins said i would rather watch flies fuck than ever see the first fifteen minutes of nobody again. I'm better from their recipe. Start a little bit. And that i was binding belies fuck boring. Oh my god. He's going to work and coffee and is gonna work and golfing is on the bus. You'll like it very artsy. Fartsy like orange should be like arts.
