"Sixty. K F. Oh, Dan mandis in for Brian Sussman. Katie, and Sherry, also here. So are you a fan, Katie or Sherry of the pirates of the Caribbean movies? Like the first one, and then I think they stretched too far they might have gone. I love him. I think they're very entertaining. I would absolutely agree with actually both of those sentiments, Geoffrey. Rush is the guy that played for Bosa and he has gotten a huge reward in this lawsuit, and it all has to do with ashtec me, too. So he was accused of a by a co star of all kinds of nefarious things. Nobody on pirates of the Caribbean. He was on some sort of a stage play out there in in the United Kingdom and he was supposed to star in this play. And then there was all of these accusations by one of his co stars. And so, then this, this paper in Australia, reported it and all of these accusations had to do with him behaving inappropriately towards his former co star woman by the name of Aaron gene, Norville. And so this paper in Australia. Reported all of these accusations without any proof. And so, Geoffrey Rush. Who begged the paper not to report these accusations. They did. He is now one one point note two point nine million dollars. Against the patriots. The that paper, the judge says that this woman was prone to exaggeration. Geoffrey Rush has sought an injunction to prevent the telegraph, from republishing, the accusations at the heart of this case, and they were detailed in previous article in it. It's all just a bunch of what we now, now know is exaggerated. But Russia's out there saying, Geoffrey Rush was out there, saying that he lost a ton of money, not to mention his reputation and that brings us to something that I saw. And by the way, good for Geoffrey Rush. Because as we know hashtag me too, that that's very serious. I if somebody does this kind of horn behavior, towards women, and they should absolutely be called out and face whatever consequences. There are. But we also know that there have been a lot of accusations that are either unproven. They are unfounded, and that's why according to. To a new poll of folks in the working world. Apparently, there's a lot of men out there who are managers who are afraid to take on or mentor women because of hashtag me to now, I guess my question would be to, to females here is that fair. Is that fair for a man because of hashtag knee to, to kind of back off and say, listen I'm, I'm worried because even the accusation that can be unfounded can destroy my career it's unfair to the men. It's also unfair to the women because if that's the attitude of these men will. Then the women, they may not be able to get a fair shake at promotion because of the fact that the male boss doesn't want to mentor, this particular woman. Is that is that fair now? No. I've had this thought for since the second this me too thing started. The feminists and the women that are sitting there saying me too were strong. We're above this, blah, blah, blah, blah are victimizing themselves. So they're it's, it's an direct contradiction. No, it's, it's not unfair. Get a job. Do your job do it. Well, and you'll succeed. That's it, it doesn't have anything to do with what genitals, you have, you know, it was only a matter of time before the whole hashtag me too did start to backfire. And, and I think part of the problem is the fact that there were, there were so many accusations that turned out to be unfounded. Or these were accusations that were out, you know, from some sort of as supposed incident that happened fifteen twenty years ago, and so then, of course, you have the conversation. Well, why didn't you say anything before and is their credibility so very real. Movement, which was hashtag me too. It seemed to spiral out of control because then you had all of these other people in all of these other accusations that were not provable. And so then you had guys that we're losing their careers and losing their reputations. And unfortunately with the media and the liberal mindset where we put these victims on pedestals, even if they do not deserve victim. Status. Men's lives were destroyed. And so, I think that's why we are now seeing this, this backlash against hashtag me, too. This is a horrible horrible story. And I'm telling you an advance it's a horrible story. Listen to this, and Katie. And Sherry, I know you both are animal lovers. I am as well. A healthy dog was euthanized because the deceased owner wanted it done and actually left it in his will that the dog would be euthanized so that the dog could be buried with the owner. Now, is there any kind of a dog owner? Is there any kind of a pet owner that, that loves their animal so much Tim, having a hard time formulating this now you don't love your animal? If you want your animal to be euthanized. This is what I would say is an indicator of just how selfish and narcissistic, our society has become. I think you're totally right. I believe that any any sane dog owner would vouch for their healthy dog to be put down, you know, maybe if I knew I was on my deathbed I'd find a new home for it. Well, that's exactly right. The, the dog's name was Emma, a healthy Shitsu mix with a long life ahead of her, but it was left in this is in Richmond, Virginia. The owner left in the will that Emma would be put down cremated and then buried with the owner and the stunning thing about this is as insane. As, as sounds to me, and you not only did the not only did the owner of the dog want this in the will put this in the will. But then the executor was also an agreement with this. And so the executor brings the dog into one of these facilities, and the people who work at the facility are begging the executor of the will do not execute this dog, you don't have to do it, and they did it and the healthy dog was put down, and it's something that is people are infuriated over. Now what's interesting is, I didn't know this that, you know, that in a lot of states, it's illegal. To bury pet remains with yourself. If you want to do this, a lot of states, you're not allowed to really. Yeah. Why didn't know that either the logistics behind that? I, maybe what they're trying to do is they're trying to avoid just this kind of scenario now you can do this in its it literally varies between counties. And so it's hard for me to localize this even down to San Francisco or the state of California. But, you know, the problem that we have with veterinarians and the people that have to put these animals, down is they have these moral and ethical issues with doing this. And so there's a couple of things going on in. I have a friend who's a veterinarian. This is why I know these things. There's a couple of, of issues that are going on right now in the world of veterinarians one, is this and should you put down a healthy dog, especially, when that, you know, that you'd be able to find a home for, you know, that's part of this story is why in the world, wouldn't you, if you know, you've only got three or four months to live you want. I would think you would want your pet to be able to live a long and healthy life beyond your own. Why would you not find someone to take care of that dog? So, so that's number one. But the other thing that's going on in the world of veterinarians is people will bring their sick animals in. And this is almost. Immoral unethical. They will offer somebody as their animal is is dying. And maybe they can expand this animal's life extend this animal's life by maybe a couple of months by charging six seven eight nine thousand dollars worth of veterinarian's fees. Do they do that? There are some places that are extending credit to people desperate, people who are bringing their animals, in and want them to be able to survive, at least a couple more months. And so they end up in debt that they simply cannot pay off. Do you think it's right? For veterinarian places to do that. I, I struggle with this. I really do it because I'm an animal lover. And it's something that a lot of folks are interested in talking about, I will post this story and the story about the veterinarians on my Facebook page, Dan man to show Facebook page, I gotta jump to a break, because we have Steve Moore economists Steve nor Steve more coming up next right here on talk radio five sixty. K. F O. Have the check the roads with Katie green and your traffic.

He was just awarded one point nine million Australian dollars after winning a defamation case against Australia's nationwide news over a story that they published in their paper. The Daily Telegraph now this all goes back to a story that was published about Jeffrey rush. And the allegations against him made by a former co star who co starred with him in Shakespeare's King Lear during production in Australia couple of years ago. And this article in telegraph titled King Lear punny included this woman, accusing, Geoffrey, Rush of inappropriate touching chasing her into a bathroom and sending salacious text messages. Something that Geoffrey Rush vigorously denied. And as a result of denying this, the court saw the case, and awarded, Geoffrey Rush in the right, by the way. This is the largest ever defamation. Payout to a single person in clan fan. Yeah. Can't keep doing that. Yeah, you can't exaggerate makeup, a whole big story because you're looking for some attention. I mean, and that is such a few, the percentage, the actually the people who do false claims, you know, less than five percent. But right now, he knew it wasn't true. Went through the core rate, he went evidence and there would be evidence so he went through the proper channels, and it was awarded that Geoffrey, Rush was in the right on this one, but still the taint is there for him. Sure. Yeah. And I'm sure that when he said, treated me like I was viper, you know, and he really had a bad you know, as a result of this affected his career. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So there's definitely rush today. Boy. All right. We gotta go into the world of reality television. We just wear. Iran has were. "He's one of those actors just kind of he hit Natasha's. You can't take your eyes off of. Although he's only about half of it because the movie is set partially in nineteen the nineteen fifties and partially in the present. It's a boy and his pelican movie if you can believe. This is a boy and his pelican movie about a kid who finds three orphaned pelican chicks on a beach remote beach in Australia, and he takes him home. And he and his reclusive father raised them. And although two of them are released into the wild. One of them comes back and becomes the boys pet and all of this is being told years later by the older version of the boy, and that's the role that Geoffrey Rush plays who's talking to his granddaughter and debating with himself whether to sell off a plot of pristine land to a mining company. And so you get the film going back and forth between the boys experiences in the fifties with his fellow can and the old man's debating with himself as to whether to ruin the environment, shall we say for profit? It's a lovely old fashioned family movie of the sort that Walt Disney would have made back in the nineteen fifties. It's probably a little. Slow moving for today's kids. But if they can be patient with it. I think they'll enjoy it as much as a dull tes will this is an exercise in style that certainly worked for me. All right. That sounds good. I think it worked for me to and finally we've got a film called Diane with another one of my favorites. And I haven't even thought of her in years Mary Kay place..

And so I think they were expecting a PL win, and they didn't get that. So they were expecting everyone to just get bluetooth headphones. If they were gonna take away the directly. Yeah. I think they thought that it would be win. They're doing the other vendors quickly fall in line. Eventually they did what happened is two years past the della vendors dug their heels in some that I spoke to Google at the time said we kind of want to do what the majority of other companies. We don't want to have the outline and right now Apple's the outline we're not going to budge pretty much every company said that eventually Samsung, and what's up posted it, and then the other vendors went, okay, fine. Apple and Samsung, clearly industry leaders in mobile, what's up very popular in Europe. So then very quickly within about three months all the other companies which took because that which is consistent with their opinion. They always said we strongly feel like which way it should go. We just want it to be consistent. And that's what they're all water. They're all water, pistols. Now, they're all they're all totally mostly green, orange guns. And some people are still very upset by I'm I don't mind, I think as long as that consistent. It's fine. It was just very confusing when. Would show a toy woman shell weapon that was about? Right. That was the key. I mean that was the obvious time. When people weren't really thinking about what you're sending is coming out with something else. But that's still sort of an issue because some of them are everyone doesn't know what they mean, like the crying laughing emoji like a lot of people think that's just the crying emoji. And then, you know, they'll say my dog died, and then you'll send the crying laughing emoji hurt someone's feelings. So and then there's been even involved in some court cases that have dealt with this. There's the one with the the tongue sticking out the zany faith. Yes. Geoffrey Rush, Jeffrey, Russian Australia. Not an actual old mate. Did live very close to me in his trailer. Incidentally, never met him. But nonetheless, the what's happened recently in Australia is that ACTA Geoffrey Rush going to say alleged to being sort of harassing one of his workmates and sending her text messages after hours one in particular. It's something like I think about to mold and his socially appropriate. She's a creepy. Message to send someone. Any sent the wacky face outwards to the tongue out one eye open one I closed and this ended up in federal court and ustralia. And the issue being veasley. This wasn't a key part of the case the cases, basically newspapers reported on this. They said y'all defaming me text messages all came out. And his lawyer is brought to the bench to say, you're on a this emergency means, you're sort of joking or kidding? So therefore when my client said something creepy before, and it meant that he was kidding. And Geoffrey Rush himself said, yeah. And I I didn't even want that emoji. It was the closest thing I could find to Groucho Marx faces. He said. And the the federal judge basically said I don't care what emoji pedia thinks the context is what Matt is sorry..

Well, when many of us are riddled with guilt and embarrassment. I want to move along to the court case, which I know is is consuming a stroll in media. This has been I guess a stray Leah well Australia's first judicial test of the the metoo phenomenon. This is an active cold air. Jay Norville who is at olds with Geoffrey Rush. One of a strike is best known actors. She has accused him of inappropriate behavior, and he's defending himself. Well, yes, exactly. I the the actual case is that Geoffrey Rush as he say two time Oscar winner one of Australia's my cyclonic stars is suing the tabloid daily. Telegraph a defamation. They reported claims that he had essentially being Puffer. He says they portrayed as a sexual predator in a production of King Lear that took place. I think in two thousand and fifteen and sixteen and so it's not exactly a case between rush and Norville the ACTA, but she is. Become a telegraph star witness in that defense that these these headlines troupe is is it possible to draw conclusions about which way public sympathy is leaning in this one. It's a very hard one as with much of coverage any metoo movement. Norville is not exactly a may to herself in the sense that she didn't actually come out to the telegraph and make these claims, it was all hearsay, they they never had a actually quoted in the article, so she's really come out off to this low case to actually say sort of you know, defend yourself, but she was dragged into this is not something she volunteered. So it's really hot. I mean, Jeffrey Russia's incredibly loved, but at the same time from the people, I know in the in the grapes around Australia that is is sort of this idea that behavior perhaps which is inappropriate has just allowed to continue at his end as an endemic in some ways as in many industries, like we even HUD in the medical industry bullying. It's not just sexual issues. Move on briefly to another report from the which which I as an Australian abroad, I'm outraged by this is a museum in Sweden, the disgusting food museum, and they have incorporated among their exhibits three of struggling cuisine and given one of them in particular, which you're about to reveal. "Two upsets i think so some great some as agassi in the night of excited for that excited for the two writing nominations for atlanta as well as donald lovers nomination for directing and actor eddie exu enacting and atlanta up for best comedy wonderful to see that and i know that it goes up and down in people's estimate shen but i'm i i thought stranger things is just absolutely awesome show and i was i was happy to see it nominated as well it is worth noting that because the show came on so long ago and rorke's being set up for the second season that it's hard to remember what did unlikely underdog degeneracy peoples of rolling their eyes look of course it flooded the emmy's would nominations but that's pretty nuts did you have any other things that you were pleasantly surprised because nobody wants to do it every nominations bit about like what they all the members of the geoffrey rush hive the rush at s are so hype on genius getting its do history channel what's up but it wasn't even sexy einstein that's the thing that that that was actually einstein that was the one where it's einstein buddy fox that we have free russia's sex and that show yet but the he plays older einstein okay so as he has flashbacks of his own vero self how dare you older men can assure them have read the novels of phillip broadly vetter prize that you did not mention the nomination for the best episode of black mere season 3 sandra pero which by the way is terrific denominated but also incredible shouts to netflixing their marketing arm for realizing that they needed to promote that single episode as a madefortelevision movie just to get a nomination that smart that's how the game is played joe bravo.

"I just i w i'd might as well just watch the first to uh to get that kind of same pirate fix so basically this just this is more of the same this is it feels the same it looks the same that is it is consistent in that regard were you look at another french like fast and furious or wolverine or something every film looks different in every director connotation different direction which can be great at times it sometimes cannot work this one i will give it credit for every movie looks sounds smells tastes like it is the same even at the different visual director visual style visual you know visual different visual language that i can't speak it is consistent and so it was i i like that but i just yeah it was more time yeah well understanding that i went in with low expectations semeck make my only hope was that they would bring it back to the magic of the first and second one which it seems like you agree that some yellows were the first one or were the best ones and i feel like the new uh directors and some tiger for his did bring it back and i was pleasantly surprised by johnny depp being jack sparrow in being charming and funny at times uh despite being completely a glaring of everything yeah um so giant feel like yeah go ahead geoffrey rush is a stand out for me yeah he feels look at a higher it like jeff right he's perfect pirate he is wayne more convincing than john it up again because of that like the mr mugu type of thing of chinese at jeffrey russia's character yeah he get he understands danger right and the way the heat axworthy his motivations are much more believable here and geoffrey rush the vent hasic actor yeah so you know that that was fine i liked his portrayal uh we did talk about the directors we've threatening them you'll came running and a spin sandberg yeah this norwegian directing do mmhmm.
