"The pass for those guys and you think about it. It's a lot of coaching points in this kind of an offense. We need guys on their feet. A lot of backside cuts in those wide zone looks. And then the other thing that's important too are setting edges. The more that outside zone can stretch to the sideline, the more space there is. It's setting the edge to you. So you get a defensive end on the open side of a formation with like an offensive tackle. He's trying to set that edge and make that make that play get vertical sooner. If he can set the edge by that I mean, instead of the ball running all the way to the sideline, if he can sit down and hold it, that ball has to cut up quicker and that makes a play easier, but the more that ball spreads horizontally on your defense and more trouble you are, and that's what they try to get to. What's the biggest challenge with the play action game out of that? Is it the over commitment to stop the run or is it just like what's the greatest challenge for you guys? I think the mindset on that is they're having success run on the ball. You come to the sideline, your coaches, we've got to stop the run. We got to stop the run. We got to stop the run. And then your mindset when you get in the game is the first time I see any run look, I'm downhill at the ball. Yeah. And then boom, now it's play action and the tight end is already behind you. So stopping the run is the most cliche thing that you're here in football with this wide zone stuff. But it's so true because if you can't stop the run that you can run wide zone, you can run play action. You can take a shot. It makes everything way more difficult. Yeah, there's a lot of different versions of run game right to your point. All right, so now all these AFC west teams have the recipe to stop the other team's offense. So thank you, Luke for that. I wish it was that easy. Hey, with week two, Monday Night Football sleep release. It has this excited to see some new faces under the lights. Find out who we can't wait to see in Titan's bills and Vikings, eagles. That's next. And then it felt like keep it right here. Hey there, I'm Julie foudy from the podcast laughter permitted. Let's read and react to some of the latest happenings around the league. We begin with the jets. They had rookie mini camp this weekend's past weekend, incredible draft they just had as you're looking at the rookies out there, but listen, it all revolves around Zach Wilson, their quarterback. And here's head coach Robert sala on the latest from his signal caller. Zach looks good. He's definitely hit the weight room. It looks beefy. In a good way, in a good way, he's definitely filled out. So, but he's still got all his looseness and throwing the football and zipping all that stuff. So he looks good. A lot of guys look good. And you can tell a lot of guys have put in a lot of work since January and they're ready to roll. Dan, beefy, just like you. How's this gonna say? Never had a coach speak about me like that. Oh, sorry about that. Expectations for Zach Wilson this season. Hi, I think Zach Wilson is set up for his second year, very similar to what Patrick Mahomes was in his second year. All right, they got three first round offensive lineman now on their roster with Lake and Tomlinson coming over as a free agent from San Francisco. They got two first round receivers Corey Davis being won and then the addition of Garrett Wilson, CJ uzama that's been added to the tight end and Jeremy Rucker and really a first round tailback in breeze hall. I think Zach Wilson is set up to have a massive leap a second near in the offense that traditionally gets quarterbacks to play, maybe a little bit better than their talent, Zach Wilson is even remotely close talent wise to what the second pick in the draft should be. We're talking a monster leap similar to the one that Patrick had four years ago. You know, it's interesting because Salah did talk about the physicality. He also said that the mentality of Wilson has been a lot better. I've heard that. I have heard that he has taken complete ownership of their organization this off season. Love to see it. Now let's see what he does in the field. Let's get to the Seahawks, you guys. Something Baker Mayfield connected to Seattle is a likely landing place, and we wondered if they'd grab a quarterback in the draft. They didn't want to do that, but here's Pete Carroll with more on not trading for a QB. I don't see us making a trade for anybody at all. I don't see that happening, but we are certainly going to continue to be open to the chance to help our club. And meanwhile, we're just going to be battling and competing in our tails off. But there's always a possibility. So we keep open to that. Always the possibility, Adam, what is the Seahawks plan at quarterback? Well, Laura, I think first and foremost, they want to run the football more. But once we get past that, they do right now have Geno Smith on the roster and they like Gino Smith more than people do. And I think that they have drew lock on their roster and Pete Carroll himself said that if drew lock were in this draft, he would have been the top quarterback selected in his opinion. So clearly they have more love and appreciation for the two quarterbacks on their roster right now than others do, but that doesn't mean they couldn't revisit it if one of these quarterbacks happened to be cut right now. They're preparing to move forward with both players and it looks like what Geno Smith having the experience in that offense. He get the first nod, but this will be a battle I would think all during training camp. All right, something to keep an eye on. Let's keep talking quarterbacks, heading to Indianapolis, where Matt Ryan has already been compared to Peyton Manning by multiple people. Big shoes to fill. They're even for a veteran like Ryan and colts coach Frank Reich piled it on too. He said, I can not even tell you how refreshing he is talking about Matt Ryan. Very strong opinion that he has, but also very engaging, very humble, like very humble, very humble, but very strong. It's just good. It's a really good dynamic, very professional in every way, and it's just a collaboration, but he also understands he's coming in and learning a new offense and he feels that right now. He feels it. That was me doing my Frank Reich impersonation. Luke, you played against Matt Ryan. How do you think he fits in with the colts? I think the one thing that he didn't mention that I'm sure Frank Reich agrees with is just how competitive he is. Matt loves the game. He loves competition and I'm sure he honestly loves learning a new offense at this point in his career, but if you look at the colts, they've had such instability at that position ever since Andrew Luck retired. Now you get a seasoned veteran league MVP Super Bowl one playoff games. He brings some stability and he can get the guys going throughout the whole week. Hey, he can bring guys in on a Tuesday on a Wednesday after practice he gets a group of guys together. He can teach after they get out there and they run their 5 play set, they come off to the sideline. The coaches don't even need even need to come over. Matt can coach them all up, get them where they want them adjust some routes got some young receivers. Just a good veteran presence that seen everything. There's nothing that he's going to get in a game that's going to either make him uncomfortable or he hasn't seen. And he's just the ultimate competitor and I think with what they've gone through at the quarterback position in the past few years to have mad in there is really good for you. It's almost like his career has that built in clout. On those Tuesdays, week two, you got to get in and we got to get some work in or something on the sidelines. Yeah, exactly. His career kind of speaks to you not only doing that, but he also knowing he's going to get you better to do it. I think the phrase that comes to mind is lead over carry. You know, all Chris Ballard their general manager want in all right, their head coach wants is the quarterback to lead the offense. Not think that they have to carry the offense. And I think on the field that's a little bit of what Carson Wentz missed. And Matt will Matt Ryan's kind of in that perfect role where he just wants to be part of the offense, allowing that to star rather than the quarterback to be the star. And I think one of the things that is somewhat of a similarity, you can kind of speak to this a little bit Luke, the carry over from Atlanta is the size of the people that they have in the perimeter now. I don't think the weapons are incredible. But Michael Pittman junior is 6 5.

"Pay that time. Oh yeah, that is gonna be the one problem that Mike McCarthy going in a playoff game is never a scary, but hopefully somebody a lot. But you know, I do think, yeah, again, but the packers are good, but they still have all the vulnerabilities that they stayed on. And certainly, yes, this game is very winnable for the Seahawks. Like, the third quarter, I'm still preparing by like, I guess the packers weren't immunized against losing tweets. Like, you know, they really, what the Seahawks hang around in that game forever. You know, and of course, I can't, you know, because I have Aaron Jones, but my opponent had that dill that asshole back up. So like I can't even enjoy the packers inevitably running up the worst of all worlds, but but yeah, I mean, you know, it wasn't like that was not an impressive performance. You know, given that the Seahawks were essentially starting like Geno Smith. And I don't think the packers have had impressive performances. I mean, they are winning games and that's what matters. But, you know, they're 8 and two plus with a plus 36 scoring differential which means that they're winning their average game by less than touchdown. So yeah. You know, and you can say that the states blow out is that British, but also like getting you pulling up on stage. It's pretty disturbing. It's not the drew breed, you know, that's a big blowout by James Winston. With no receivers. Like that's not great, actually. It's our boy and everybody else. Right. I mean, they played well, but they beat the forty-niners by two. They beat the Bengals by three. They beat the Cardinals, which is a great win by three. They have not, they're a pretty good team, but I don't think this is a dominant team. And I think that people who are going on the packers probably are going to find themselves falling short. Now, admittedly, the late season of packer schedules still includes. The bears the Lions and the brand and they have two games against the Vikings and they have the browns at home. So they're probably are gonna do pretty well overall, but I would not bet on this Super Bowl team by any means. Terrible vision. So how do we interpret the box, right? Because there are a lot of ways in which the bucks are having they're having last year and this year. In which they have absolute dominating performances with really curious how the heck did they how were they even how did they even leave the leave the other team in this game and then they lose the game. So, you know, it's not, I don't know. What do you guys think about how the box is? Because I stand by my babe, which is the bay for the NFC championship at this point, but.

"Questionable designations for Ricky seales Jones, Terry mclaurin, Gibson and Curtis Samuel and again, even if they play the fact that they're not at a 100% could be a problem. Also a problem for this Washington team is the fact that their defense is kind of the weak link in this game in my opinion off of all the units on both sides. Neither offense is going to blow you away. But they're reasonably competent. The Washington defense has been pretty bad this year allowing 7 and a half yards per pass attempt. The question here is can Denver make the Washington football team pay for that? And I don't know that they can't. Teddy Bridgewater, not great. It was an embarrassing loss last week against case Keenum and the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. But now you have a Broncos team at home, week and a half to prep for a bad Washington team who is one and 6 against the spread, the worst mark in the league in that department and I don't think that spells good things for the football team. So if I had to take a side here would be the Denver Broncos. But again, a game where I would like to focus instead on the other game in the four o'clock window that is garnering a lot of attention and justifiably so I'm of course talking about the books and the saints. The bucks 5 and a half point favorites coming into this game on the road, total of 50 and I get it. I understand why Tampa Bay's favored the way they are in this game. They have been absolutely rolling teams so far the season they're coming off of that 38 to three thrashing of the Chicago Bears, whereas the saints they just barely squeaked by Seattle on Monday Night Football, barely beating Geno Smith, but they did. They did be Geno Smith and the Seahawks and they deserve credit for that because there was no such thing as an easy road win in the NFL. And Tampa Bay, of course, is going to look to prove me wrong and win easily against the saints here. We'll see if that happens. But I'm a little skeptical on laying the points with Tampa Bay in this contest. And, you know, the numbers are spectacular for the Buccaneers. You know, again, you have Tom Brady quarterback. That's how it's gonna be. Tampa Bay 6 in the league in yards per play this season on offense in the NFL, the saints, they rank 27th their averaging 5 yards per play. The Jameis Winston thing hasn't gone great. By any means for Tampa Bay. But here's the thing. You look at the saints team, they're competent defensively, right? They are slightly better in terms of their yards per play allowed than Tampa Bay and they have the third best scoring defense in the league, Tampa Bay, by the way, ranking tenth in that regard. This is a team that could keep Tom Brady, not completely off the scoreboard. That's ludicrous, but with a lot of injuries to some of his weapons, right guys like Antonio Brown, doubtful, Gronk and OJ Howard? Questionable, they could slow Tom Brady down just enough, I think to cover the spread in this game. The bucks, by the way, three and four against the spread this season, they are not great in terms of covering the number, but that is a product of being a big favorite frequently in the NFL. This is a game where I would lean toward the New Orleans Saints. In a game, by the way, that's only their second true home game of the season, right? Week one, they had to play in Jacksonville because of the natural disaster over there in New Orleans. They played the packers. They beat them handily in Jacksonville. They were technically the home team, but that wasn't really a full on home game. They lost their only real true home game of the season in overtime to the New York Giants. This is going to be an environment I think that really helps propel the saints in addition to the fact that hey, you know what their defense might just be good enough to cover the spread in this contest. Now we have reached the two prime time games this week in the NFL here on the GBI show. And I am very excited about both of them. And we will start with the Dallas Cowboys two and a half point favorites on the road against the Minnesota Vikings and the total in this game 55. I don't like a side in this game. I think that the cowboys right, they've looked very good with a lot of their games at home so far this season. Cowboys coming off the buy this week, taking out a Vikings team, who, by the way, is also off of their buy. So you got two rested refreshed teams, at least relatively speaking heading into this game. And this is one that the Vikings really need if they want a chance at the playoffs. The cowboys, let's face it, they've got that division pretty much locked up already in the NFC east as we predicted by the way on the GBI show going into this season. But the Vikings have no such luxury because they are in a division with the 6 and one Green Bay Packers. The division title is pretty much out of reach at this point for them already. They need to start winning games to have a chance of the wild card. I just don't know if I can back her cousins in a big game against the team of the winning record. There is a history there of that not quite working out for betters to say the least. There is also a history of coming into this game. His gains going over the total when the Dallas Cowboys are involved. Dallas, 5 and one to the over so far this season, they're also 6 O against the spread. So if you, if you put a lot of stock into these sort of trends, I personally do not, but I think that, you know, as somebody who's job it is to inform people of the information that they might be interested in going into these games, I do want to try and get you some of that. Cowboys 6 O against the spread 5 and one to the over this season..

"Mercifully for right now. We got one more team and that wretched division to talk about in just a bit here on the GBI. So we're going to get out of the AFC south for just a little bit. I'm going to talk about the Patriots and chargers next. The Patriots 5 point dogs on the road, total 49 and it's a game where, you know, I lean the New England Patriots here. There's a huge perceived gap in ability between Mac Jones and Justin Herbert. And some of that, of course, is very well deserved. I mean Herbert has been legitimately good since he's entered the league. Mac Jones. They've kind of handled him with care so far. He's not taking a lot of risks. They aren't a high octane offense in New England. They've kind of tried to ease him into all of this. Knowing that he's a little limited out of the gate. But you look at the numbers for these guys and the Patriots are averaging more yards per attempt in the passing game than the Chargers. It's very interesting to look at it that way. And of course, again, you have to note that the actual yardage and things like that is superior for the Chargers because they're putting the ball in the air more often. But I think it's interesting to note that Mac Jones and the Patriots offense more yards per attempt than the Chargers so far. Now the charges come into this game four and two against the spread, the Patriots only three and four in that regard, but these are two pretty evenly matched teams statistically, either within a point of each other in terms of their scoring offenses, defensively the Patriots allowing around 5 points per game less and you know, offensively, yards per play identical on the season 5.7 yards per play on both sides. New England better on the defensive side. There as well. And that's not entirely unexpected, right? This is a situation where you think of these two teams as they're currently constructed. And it's pretty fair to say the Patriots better defensively charges better offensively. The question in this game, the weak strength of victory for the Patriots does that kind of tilt things a little bit in favor of the charges because you look at the games that the Chargers I'm sorry that the Patriots have won. So far the season they've beaten the jets twice and they beat Davis mills and the Texans once. And that is it. And I don't think that that's enough to talk me off of the Patriots here if I had to play this game. To me, it's I it's not quite enough to get me to go full on New England here. That 5 point number. But I think if you had to make a play, I think that the Patriots are the way to go, again, you're just you're getting a better defense. You're getting the charges team coming off the buy for the first time with staley as their head coach, how do they do that? You know that if the Patriots are coming off by, they would certainly have this immaculate game plan drawn up for Justin Herbert and company. But, you know, again, these are little factors that I think could make a difference in this game. And I think that the numbers say that the Patriots can be a lot more competitive than some people might think even though it is very tempting to take Justin Herbert and that explosive charges offense on their home field. Now let's go to the Jaguars. We said we had them still coming up in the show. And unfortunately, I wasn't lying. Here we are. Jaguars, three point dogs taking on Seahawks. It is Trevor Lawrence versus Geno Smith. They match up that never in our wildest nightmares. Did we think we would be getting total 43 and a half? By the way, Pete Carroll versus urban Meyer, a little USC versus Ohio State or Florida. I guess take your pick for urban Meyer there. But this is an interesting game and that it is very difficult to pick a winner. Because you have Jaguars coming off the buy and serve Myers first buy week in the pros, lord help the young women of the American Midwest, as we discussed last week, taking on a Seahawks team that has not yet won with Geno Smith at quarterback. However, they have been competitive. Juno Smith has covered the spread twice as a starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. He did it in Pittsburgh on what was that Sunday Night football? And then on Monday Night Football, he comes out and covers the spread against saints. It wasn't pretty last week. They lost 13 to ten. Some kicking issues were really the undoing for the Seahawks, even more so than Gino Smith, but it was a game where they were in it the entire time and credit the defense of the Seattle Seahawks who have really stepped up with Geno Smith at quarterback. You look at the last two games for the Seattle defense they gave up what was it 2023 somewhere in that neighborhood against the Steelers? And then they give up 13 points in the loss to the saints. They have really stepped up, knowing that the team on offense is not going to put up the kind of numbers that they were with Russell Wilson leading them. And it's a game where, I mean, you know, you can kind of throw out a lot of the season long statistics for the Seattle Seahawks because of course they look better offensively over the course of the whole year than they do over the last couple of weeks with Geno Smith where they have averaged 15 points per game. Both of these teams, by the way, bottom 5 in time of possession, bottom 5 and third down conversion percentage. These are not offenses that are accustomed to staying on the field. I would lean the Seahawks and the under here. Geno Smith, I think could very well go to three and O against the spread. He could easily enter the teddy Bridgewater Pantheon of not great quarterbacks who managed to still cover the spread at an alarming rate. But I am not putting my eggs in either one of these baskets in this game. I have no desire to do so. By the way, Jaguars, they are hosting the Buffalo Bills next week. Good luck to them there. We could very well see another double digit point spread and the Seahawks are heading into thereby week. I would rather watch on demand versions of the WNBA. I'd rather watch WNBA reruns than watch this game. And by the way, not a knock on WNBA as I'm a big fan of it, is anybody who watched the show knows. I am just saying I'd rather not watch the Jaguars and the Seahawks. Even if I see it on red zone, I'm going to be upset. I do not want to see the game. I do not want to know what is happening as it's going on. Next, Washington football team, Denver Broncos. This is like a slightly more upscale version of Jaguars and Seahawks in my opinion. It's like you're getting the starting quarterbacks that are a little bit better than the Jaguars and Seahawks and what they have to offer, but it's still not a game that's very attractive. The Broncos three point favorites at home, total 44. And, you know, I lean toward the Broncos this game, but again not one that I'm trying to get involved with a lot of injury concerns going in offensively for the Washington football team..

"Oh, absolutely. But there's just been so much public support for the bangles, that's why you see us at ten and a half right now. And we know what we're going to need in this game. You know, we're going to need the New York Jets. We're going to need some of those bets, those sharp bets from places like New Jersey on the jets. That's good. That would be good. Help us balance the books a little bit. I don't know that we want to I don't know that we want to have another Sunday morning sitting here rooting for the jets. Last Sunday wasn't too much fun. This interesting excuse me, this Pittsburgh Cleveland game is interesting. I'm surprised the line's three and a half with the browns, quarterback issues and steelers, defense being what it is. I felt like three was the right number. Because Cleveland has other injuries, right? You got running back. I offensive lineman. I would argue the Steelers have their own quarterback issues. I agree with what you're saying, but there's a lot of quarterback issues too. And there's not because of an injury because Robert's burger is playing so poorly. So that's why the game maybe that number does look a little high considering all Cleveland's injuries. But the last time we watched Pittsburgh, they barely won at home against Geno Smith in the Seahawks. That game went to overtime. And a lot of that was because Roethlisberger played so poorly. So I think that's why you see this line. Maybe a little higher than people would think with all the Cleveland injuries, but split action on this game. They're betting both teams pretty evenly doesn't look like it's going to be a big decision for us. This is an intriguing matchup, just with so much on the line, Tennessee is a two game lead in the division over Indianapolis and they won the first meeting. So this is the second regular season meeting. I'm not saying it's a must win for the colts, but it kind of almost is. Cool to need this game for sure. I mean, who would have, who would have thought that Tennessee would take those two games sorry buffalo and Kansas City and win both? Now all of a sudden, the Titans have a stranglehold on the AFC south, Indianapolis has to win this game. Classic case of what we call reverse line movement. I know people like to use all these buzzy terms, most people don't really know what they're talking about when they say these things. But this is reverse line movement. Everyone is betting the Titans. It's almost 6 to one here at the super book and the numbers got in the other way. It's gone from Indianapolis plus one to Indianapolis minus one and a half. I even see the number going higher at some books in Nevada, very respected group took the colts on the money line earlier in the week, very sharp money on Indianapolis, the public all on Tennessee as is to be expected when they're off of those two impressive wins I mentioned. So this setting up classic like wise guy public game here and the public is betting the small underdog Tennessee..

"Looking at the Jaguars is like, you know, playing a JV team on an NFL schedule. So I don't love my pick. It's just kind of one of those based on principle, a home underdog of more than a field goal with two teams that I'm not sure very good. I'll just take the home dog, plug my nose and go from there, but I do think the same to the better team and I think you laid out some great point as to why they could cover the four points at home. So maybe we can find some more agreement when it comes to props. Usually we're more in line there. What do you like on the saint side? Yeah, like I said, thanks offensive line, getting healthier. They're going to have some more guys back on that line tonight. We just talked about it weather conditions, not expected to be great. Again, not as bad as we saw last night, but not great. So I like Alvin Kamara over 22 and a half carries. You can get that at minus one 15. Yeah, so he's carried The Rock over 22 times twice this season. And again, I think they're combination of oline healthier and weather conditions. I like the over there. Also sneaky, good play here. Follow me here, okay? Okay. Alex Collins under 46 and a half rushing yards. He's dealing with a groin injury. He was able to practice. He is expected to be active, but here's the sneaky good play. Rashad penny is expected to come off of IR today. And he is expected to be the featured back in the backfield for the Seattle Seahawks. So I'm going under 46 and a half rushing yards for Alex Collins. And the lines for Rashad penny haven't hit yet, okay? Because it hasn't been announced yet. But keep an eye as we get closer to game time, continue whatever app you're on, you know, hopefully it's Caesar's, okay? Keep on looking for the carries, you know, the rushing attempts in the yards for Rashad penny. I like over rushing attempts for Rashad penny. Again, we don't have a line because it's not out yet. But I think that could be a real sneaky good play. Later on this evening. So stay on top of that. Same thing in regard to game script. You talked about it in regard to the way that Sean Payton calls the plays. He's just, he doesn't have Jameis Winston throw the ball much. And why? Well, James wisdom likes to throw interceptions. So I get it. Under 25 and a half passing attempts for Jameis Winston. He averages 2021 a game and again, I'm going to go back to the weather conditions. So I like under 25 and a half passing attempts for Jameis Winston and also that saints defense is better than what most people think. They're going to get after Geno Smith, the Seattle Seahawks offensive line is just atrocious. So I think Geno Smith is going to be running for his life. So I like over 12 and a half rushing yards for Gino tonight. Yeah, I'm picking up what you're putting down on that saint side. I do think they limit passing an opportunity with Jameis like they've done all year long, so I'm under his passing attempts as well. Kamara, I wasn't going to play the over, but I've certainly thinking he's going to be fed the football a lot, my two favorite Khmer props are actually going over on his individual Russian prop 91 and a half yards and as individual receiving prop 31 and a half yards and you may ask why not just do the Russian and receiving together? Because that prop is all the way up at one 27 and a half. So there's an extra 5 yards that you have to account for based on the Russian receiving line. I'll just play each one individually and think that he goes over because the Seahawks have allowed to opposing running backs this season, a 180 yards of total offense per game. And Camara accounts for more than 80% of the New Orleans running back. Output. So just some quick math there if the Seahawks have an average defensive game where they allow same 20 backs to account for a 180 yards, 80% of that is well over a 140 for Alvin Kamara. So that is well over 90 rushing yards and well over 31 and a half receiving yards. So I'm gonna play both over there. We're in line on Jameis Winston, anything you like on the Seahawks side. I'm picking up what you're putting down on Rashad penny and Alex Collins because that was something I was aware of as well. Penny coming off the IR. They have more invested in penny in terms of draft capital. So once he has healthy, I think they moved him to the front of the line, so to speak with Chris Carson on IR, but there was nothing I could really isolate on the Seattle side besides that rushing attack that I had much confidence in. So if you don't have anything else on Seattle, is there anything that you are looking ahead to for a week 8 as we can never be too early jumping on lines? Yeah, listen. Two big storylines here. And I'm in New York and they sit around the New York teams. Number one is Zach Wilson. I was again texting with rich amini, who does excellent job covering the jets. He said Zach is going to be out two to four weeks. He's got a knee injury. And one thing that in I host sports talk radio here in New York in jets fans have been calling in my show saying, why is it there a veteran quarterback in that room, helping this young helping this young man, Zach Wilson.

"So Mike, one of the joys of having you on this show is we always get some tremendous movie references connected to Seahawks football. So given everything that's happened, is there a movie that comes to mind to sum up the season so far? There are two, and you gotta follow me here. Okay. Eagle eye and eye robot. Those are the two movies that I'm going deep here. So the reason I would pick those two movies is because they revolve around a power struggle, which is very important dynamic here with Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll. Isn't it possible that Russell Wilson made some noise in the off season about his contract and other things about having some control in Seattle? Is it possible that maybe he just wants it's time in the money and it's not controlled? Maybe he wants a fresh start. And both of those movies you get like a creation, which this case would be Russell. He is the artificial intelligence. I think an eagle eye it's called Arya, and in iRobot is called Vicky. And the partnership works out. And then along the way as the movie progresses in both cases, the artificial intelligence figures out, wait a minute. I can actually function without you. Robots don't feel fear they don't feel anything. They don't get hungry, they don't sleep. I do. I have even had dreams. I don't need you. In fact, you are actually the problem, which is why in both cases, the machines try to take out the humans, and those particular movies, they realize, I can function at a high level and achieve what you intended for me to achieve without you. And in some in a way, you are actually holding me back. Now the humans went out and both of those because, of course, kind of movie with the machines when we'd be screwed. As a society, but those movies ended, obviously, this is we're about halfway through. But I think that the idea of like a power dynamic coming to a head between two parties is best representative of Seattle season. Wow, if I had tried to guess your movie pic, I never would have thought off the board, sci-fi, deep cuts. That is incredible. So with that in mind, we're going to make the leap from sci-fi to Seahawks football, which apparently is a short one. So we're here today to talk about whether or not this Seahawks season can be saved. And what it means for the Seahawks and Russell Wilson if it keeps spiraling the wrong direction. So first, what has gone wrong for them on the field? I think that on offense, they're having a problem scheming up easy throws for Russell. It's like, all right, when we need quick, easy completions that schema our guys open, it's things that are easily defensible outside of perhaps the play action deep shots. That's one thing. On defense, they just couldn't cover nobody for about 5 weeks. And that was a big, big, big problem, man. Real bad. And I think the players were underperforming, but I think the macro issue is the gamble that the Seahawks took as an organization at cornerback. They let Shaquille Griffin walk in the off season, Seattle drafted a corner in the fourth round. Continuing Pete Carroll streak of never drafting an outside cornerback higher than 90th overall. That's in the third round. So if peak hero is not going to be a guy who's going to pay for outside cornerbacks and free agency and you're not going to pay a premium via draft capital, that's a poor gamble at a premium position. And then now they have bad secondary, which could turn around here pretty soon, but it's an organizational failure, I think that led to the disaster that their defense was through the first 5 weeks of the season. The legion of boom is feeling like a faint and distant memory right now. No, indeed. And that was not like genius. That led to that, either they took an obvious first rounder in Earl Thomas who was killing it at Texas. And found some diamonds in the rough and cam Chancellor and Richard Sherman and legit have not really drafted any good defensive backs since then. Okay, so shaky defense, predictable offense, Russell Wilson's hurt. Now they desperately need some wins and the task of trying to win games is now in the hands of journeyman backup Geno Smith. This is a guy I think who the casual fan who might not follow the Seahawks could easily forget is still in the NFL before the last couple weeks. So how would you sum up Geno's career so far? It's like an exercise or a case study in perseverance and perhaps humility as well, 'cause you gotta look at genome. He has been the guy. You know, in high school, he was the guy at West Virginia. And he got drafted in the second round. He I think he was signed to roc nation, you know, Jay-Z's agency. He played for the jets. That's a high of highs. It does not really get much bigger than playing quarterback for the New York Jets. It really does not. So he was on a really big high. And it didn't go well. You know, we got into a fight with a teammate and ended up losing his job, had to be a backup for a while. He fell off the mountaintop, even if it's not his fault he fell. He just fell. That's the reality of it. And he had to accept that and wait his turn again, which is very hard for quarterbacks in particular quarterbacks are so used to be in the guy. So accepting a backup job is humbling, accepting a backup job behind guys like Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson, guys who never get hurt. Like ever, really, three of the most durable quarterbacks in the NFL history for him to accept backup jobs behind them. That's what I think is perseverance and a little bit of humility. Like, dude, you're not even getting a chance to compete because that's just not where you are compared to our guy. Even with Seattle, you know, he keeps resigning with Seattle and one of your deals knowing Russ's Iron Man. That is tough to do, man to accept that you're going to be you're going to play the background. No one's going to be screaming your name on Sundays. You know, your family can come to the games with the angle do that but watch you warm up. That's a very humbling experience. You know, when you're used to having your girl or your mom or your brother or sister or whatever at every game, watching you ball. And then that's why Gino admitted, sometimes he'd fight back tears before games. Just preparing every single time. It is gut wrenching sometimes. You know, sometimes I fight bacterias before the game's like, man, I wish I could be out there. Knowing that he goes through the same stuff as rest warming up, watching tape. You know, grinding that practice only to go on Sundays and just sit there. And watch. That's very hard. Reality is you got to prepare and you gotta keep preparing. And that's something that I proud myself on. It's being prepared and always being ready and that goes mentally physically and everything else. So I don't know how this will look going forward, but I think that chapter or two of Geno smith's career is very human. That is to just try to persevere and be humble and be patient. Those are three things that all of us struggle with. But I'm sure that if all of us combine those three elements, we probably ended up getting where we wanted to be in life. Also, after all that waiting, Smith got his chance unexpectedly a couple weeks ago against the rams when Russell Wilson's finger bent the wrong direction. So walk us through how Geno looked after he came in. He looked like a starter. He did. He looked really good, came in, down two scores against the team with Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on national television in a situation where Pete's philosophy had nothing for him. Like we can't just run the ball to help you out. Dude, you got to throw me down. Help. Help us. Right now and he did it. He led them down there through a 23 year touchdown a DK Metcalf. And I was taking it back. Over 9 to go. End zone Metcalf touchdown. Gino. I think I just tweeted, I tweeted holy shit, I think. That's it. That's all I had at that moment through that touchdown DK 'cause I just didn't know what was going on. It was surreal. I was like, are we dreaming? Are we in a video game? Is Geno Smith really leading the Seahawks on this drilling comeback on national television right now? Fans chanting his name. Well, who would have thought? As they start chanting Geno here in Seattle that he would have a chance to win this game against the rams. Amazon rail was storybook. Now he ended up throwing an interception that ended the game. Smith throws passes picked and the drama is over. No flags on the play and Knicks Scott has it for the rams. I can fell down so I don't entirely fault that to Gino, but just the fact.

"And so right off the bat, you would hope that you are devising things on first down on early downs to allow Geno Smith to attack the weakness of this steel or defense. And you're doing it on a down where a defense has to game plan and prepare and defend both run and pass. And so breaking tendency here is going to help genome Smith. Not only is it the smart thing to do, based upon the matchup, but it's also going to help genome Smith because the last thing you want in this matchup is running it on first down to Chris Carson for two yards running it on second down to Chris Carson for two and a half yards and all of a sudden you're looking at third and 5 or 6, or your offensive line is going to just get bombarded by the Steelers pass rush. And now you have Gino Smith throwing in known passing situations. That's not what you want here. And so if Seattle is going to be somewhat effective offensively, I think it's actually going to come down to Geno smith's arm and hitting the big play weapons that Seattle has outside. Do you want to praise Big Ben and his renaissance performance last weekend against the Denver Broncos? Where he averaged more than ten yards and attempt compared to a 6.1 coming into the game the most in any contest since 2018 or is 121 passer rating compared to his 79 that he'd accumulated through the first couple of games and no shocker here, fewest passing attempts in a game this season for the Steelers and they're the most efficient offensively because they showed balance. They got nausea Harris involved. Do the Steelers have enough without juju Smith Schuster to go out there and attack a Seahawks defense that let's not pretend to mince words here has been less than inspiring through the first 5 games of the season. A lot of disdain for Big Ben there. I know she's happily married now, but your family lived in the Midwest. Did Big Ben tried to hit on your sister or something? Oh, no. She did not. Not at least to my knowledge. My sister does have pictures with Charles Barkley. She claims those are purely friendly encounters, though down in Phoenix. Well, maybe just as a byproduct of rubbing elbows with you, she might have been able to help Charles with some of his gambling habits. I don't think chuck was willing to take black Jack tips in old town Scottsdale at one a.m. for my sister, though who probably was a little bit more adept with a mask than chuck has been in various stops in Las Vegas and tile over the years. Let's refocus here. And in a Pittsburgh's offense, I thought was very good last week. They got the ground game going. It did open up things for big bend through the air, 6.9. Nice. Completed air yards. He hadn't been what he had 12 over there? Over 5 yards in any other game prior. And I think this will be something that's interesting to monitor because the Steelers have actually faced the toughest schedule of defenses in the entire league through 5 weeks. Seattle is going to be the worst defense to Pittsburgh's face. And so there could be some opportunity here through the air. I'm obviously not a big juju Smith guy. I don't think that's a massive loss by any stretch. I want to take shots at his TikTok, so I want to kick a guy while he's down. No, I mean, hey, listen. We all make our bed. We all make decisions, and we have to live with those decisions. And while again, I am not a huge juju guy he did have an option this off season. And it was catch passes from Patrick Mahomes and do tiktoks with his brother Jackson mahomes and he chose to catch passes from Big Ben and get lit up by Kareem Jackson. Those are the decisions and choices we make. And you have to lie with some of those results. Hey. I don't think it's massive loss. I really don't. I think McLeod will fill in admirably there. And when we sit here and look at this game, I think it really comes down to and this is why we're not really truly breaking this down in depth. Because there really is no other option. When it comes down to a side in this game. No one's number that does this professionally is going to get you to where this number is. We're looking at an 8 and a half point adjustment off last week's look ahead where Seattle was basically a 3.2 favorite versus now them getting 5 and a half. And I think it's only going to trend in one direction as this is the Sunday Night game. We're going to get a lot of public love from the Steelers. It becomes a waiting game. At what point do you value bet Seattle? Are you waiting till the last minute and hoping to catch your 6 to someone from a group perspective, get an itchy trigger finger and not be patient? We'll see. But ultimately, I think if you're betting this game or you're in your contests and picking this game, you're probably going to have to go the little contrarian route with Seattle here. Take the old dog getting the generous points, hope you get the one game bump from the backup quarterback against the team that has struggled when they're installed as a favorite in recent encounters. Four games. Prep as well. They do have extended prep. So we'll see if Seattle can not throw a few wrinkles in there, maybe a little trick player two, mix things up and try and take the Pittsburgh Steelers by storm under the bright lights at Heinz field..

"For a team whose pass rush is perceived to be the strength, they hit have a major potential blow of Chandler Jones is not available to pin his ears back and come after the quarterback. I think any time you're digging into a browns game, the first two things you have to ask are simple. Do the browns have an advantage with their ground game. And will the opponent be able to get pressure on Baker Mayfield? And for Arizona Cardinals defense, which I think started the season playing better than their projections by substantial margin. The answer is actually note about those questions. And so I think this unit that does regress. We've pegged them for regression. Let's see if it ultimately comes to fruition. But Arizona right now 28th and rushing success rate defense over 57% of runs of grade successful. They've struggled with outside zone runs, which Stefanski is known for for running. And then the second big question can the Cardinals pressure Baker Mayfield? And I think that's important because we've chronicled Baker Mayfield's issues over the years when he's under pressure. And those issues are prevalent again through 5 weeks this season. He's basically has a passer rating 75 points lower when he's pressured this season versus when he's kept clean. Well, you're looking at a cardinal's defense 24th in pressure. And as you alluded to, far and away, their best pass rusher and Chandler Jones is not expected to play. So the two big questions, the two things that truly matter in this game. I think get answered in a big way and on paper, both trend towards the browns favor here. You also have a surprise return to practice early in the week from wells. So it's very possible they get their left back, or they're right tackle. They're left tackle. And so that would be a huge get back. And the other thing that you mentioned that I kind of forgot to address on the other side of the ball, but worth breaking down here and not necessarily breaking down, but discussing speaking generally, you have to factor in the west coach dome team traveling to the Midwest playing an outdoor game where it looks like there's going to be 19 mph steady winds, gusts close to 30. And the possibility of rain. Now the forecast has changed. That's kind of what weather does. Great job, by the way. Just you just need to be right like 30% of the time. It looked like it was if you're right 30% of the time as a Major League Baseball hitter, though, you get a chance to go to cooperstown as well. Those two professions share a lot of similarities, albeit a slightly different level of athleticism that it takes to find jobs in those two very disparate fields. Yes, so what we have seen so far is early in the week as we were projecting ahead it looked like there might be a little bit more rain. Yesterday it looked like there might be a little bit more rain. This morning when I looked not as much rain in the forecast, but obviously the wind is what matters most. And again, if you have a Kyler Murray that's not able to push the ball down the field as much, throwing into 29 mph gust certainly the advantage would lie with the offense that's able to run the ball a little bit better. And that would certainly be the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, it's always a fascinating dynamic as well when you get these two quarterbacks to get together. We know about their ties to the university of Oklahoma both as Heisman Trophy winners. And of course, Baker Mayfield being a walk on for cliff Kingsbury at Texas tech before he ends up taking his talents to Norman. So while players won't come out and say a lot of things, you do have to imagine that baker sees this as an opportunity. Always to go out there and showcase his skill sets. Yes. Against two individuals that he's had a track record with in the past. Should be one of the better games to watch on Sunday afternoon for sure. When we look at the Sunday Night football campaign Seahawks and steelers, of course, this game loses a lot of its luster with Russell Wilson expected to miss some significant time with a finger injury. The first time that Ross will not be a starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks since 2011. When you look at some of these numbers and it's tough to put in perspective, the last time another quarterback started for Seattle, it was tavaris Jackson back in 2011, not sure what tavaris is up to now, but if he's a listener or the podcast, want to thank him for his continued support. Geno Smith, he makes his first start since week 13 of the 2017 when he sees when he was a member of the New York football giants. Interestingly enough, limited sample size fun to talk about absolutely irrelevant for the handicap. Genome Smith is four no against the spread. In his career when he starts in prime time, one in three straight up. Not so irrelevant. If there's a team that's struggles with a target on their back greater than the Pittsburgh Steelers, I'm not quite sure who it is. This is a team notorious for losing games, they're not expected to as a favorite. And the one thing we've seen from Pete Carroll since he took over his head coach of Seattle, his teams have shown a ton of resilience, 44 and 18 straight up after a loss, 38 21 and three against the spread in those games, of course Seattle comes into this one on extended rest on top of that. Let's not sugarcoat it. I mean, the biggest storyline here excited about this game Todd. I just don't think I mean Geno Smith against the Steelers defense. It's not quite a irresistible force against an immovable object, but you have extra time to prepare. Will the Seahawks be able to take advantage of a steelers defense? That's good, but one that hasn't been able to generate a ton of pressure. This will probably surprise some people, but I would come out with a game plan. That features Geno Smith throwing the ball. And I think there's the possibility that he actually plays within the confines of Shane waldron's offense a little bit better than Russell Wilson, who's constantly hunting the depot. Now, I'm not saying production wise. I just think when you look at sitting in shotgun delivering the ball that genome might be a little bit better, at least operating the offense from that perspective. I think he's going to get the ball out quicker. I think he's going to avoid the pressure a little bit more, which is certainly a factor in this game when you're talking about the Steelers pass rush first, an offensive line of the Seattle Seahawks. I think when I look at this and I know we don't want to spend a ton of time with this game. But your hope is that the return of Chris Carson doesn't have Seattle attempt to run it into a steelers defense that's 6th in Russia efficiency as opposed to attacking its dealer secondary. That's 24th and defensive pass efficiency..

because the NFL is kind of taking up a good amount of our time the all time defense is forgiving near the all time offenses for a given year really good perspective there from coach Wade Phillips pleasure to have him on book was a real enjoyable read so I know we're all in the time period of trying to find things to read to watch as wall sit at home trying to pass the time gauging stuff now rex Ryan and you know Smith willing to enlist rex has been making a full of himself on television I mean let's call I guess you made a full of himself with the Amari Cooper stuff about a week ago but total joke cell rex is not Belichick do I think that rights were won all those championships it's Tom Brady was his quarterback Mau good Belichick is that good at his job I do believe though of Frank said Tom Brady this is cornerback maybe doesn't win six world championships you probably find a way to one and he went today C. title game not once but twice or more sanctions do not and it's not come from somebody who is the leader of the rex Ryan fan club just me there are plenty of things he did as a coach that drove me insane especially towards the end of his tenure and running his mouth the way they did but if we're gonna talk about whose side am I going to take it is not even close between Gina Smith Oregon Reds Ryan brought fall more good moments he brought far more winning to the jets Gino Smith ever day and for example you're going to have my back on this one when it comes to rex Ryan Gino Smith feared I really don't know how any jets fan could be taken genus that South Korea in general a little more now the fund of rex Ryan a lot of people although I think jets fans especially you're learning more to appreciate what he did with him in hindsight as we get further when the team still can't do anything positive and I'm not a genius with fan at all registered a lot of dumb things even earlier in the week or last week with his Amari Cooper comments totally out of line he's totally wrong but he's not wrong here the only thing is and this is you know rex Ryan I remember being I remember hearing at the time did not want you know Smith bill Belichick we L. yeah he would have had success with other quarterbacks the thing about bill Belichick is he never would have put a guy like you know Smith into his quarterback room that just shows you how far ahead of everybody else Belichick is in the kind of power he had over the roster we have had more success with Gina Smith and rex did probably but again rex Ryan in one of the two years which you know he went eight Nate with that you don't have to remind me that last year yes team knocking my team out of the playoffs in a winning in scenario and it felt like the only time Gina Smith ever played productive footballer with three games everything about the dolphins in the falcons on Monday night to go to games in Miami because he's a Miami kid and in a game against Atlanta on Monday I'd suffer now to follow Jesus which was at the Baku whatever game we played he was a terrible he was terrible and then of course we had the whole incident in San Diego in about the time difference is it a movie Geno Smith was just a bad quarterback it was a bad draft pick again I don't know if that John is a coup that scouting if you watched him in college he wasn't that impressive unless he was going against defenses that just didn't play much share in that offense he just let me listen he's not a good quarterback he still doesn't understand that is not a good quarterback I get believing in yourself but do you know Smith as a a pretty warped view of what she'll Smith is as a player and rex has a lot of folks but this is one spot where if it transfers you know I have to say with rex going eight nay with that two thousand thirteen roster I mean that's one of the what that might be worse than any the judge Ross is we've seen the last four years and he was five hundred M. it was a time I mean they beat the saints they had some impressive wins that year they were terrible not wrong and for what it's worth with Jenna Smith please when I saw him play like hot garbage not once but twice against Syracuse that was all I needed to say Jill Smith is the quarterback who tried to move the ball behind his back to keep it away from a defender and obviously that play resulted in a fumble because the football should be going behind your back if your quarterback but yeah that one play I think it does a pretty good job of summing of Gina Smith is a quarterback listen I'm not R. F. and a lot more Danny but I'm glad that you dialed in the show and looked some days I don't know where I'm going it may take me in a one hour before the show maybe I figured out early in the day but I try to think of whether something going on in sports whether it's some going on you know historically that a C. or Thursday we were gonna have weighed full sign I knew I was gonna tape tomorrow in a day and he's a part of it all time defense so it kind of gets the ball rolling in that regard you know all right and the one thing about the boomer that with Tory Graeme Lloyd and boom and I got no Graham and then I get you know boom at two Graham and Dodd they like to you know go out at night and I I don't think Tory like that a lot that's why both of them went you know it wasn't the idea even Danny that they would just hit the bottle and that they would hit the town it was the attitude that wells may have given Joe Torrey he had a comment for everything he had an answer for everything and listen Joe Torrey had great respect and great relationships with a bunch of players on those nineties Yankees teams now it became far more stock up it became far more corporate once you hit the early mid two thousands and a lot of those guys can establish themselves the cheaters the parties you name it they bring in the high price free agents where you know Tory kind of felt it was a much different room but David wells was an agitator and it got to a point if you read any of the books that are out there on the Yankees if you read Bob clap issues book if you read the buster Olney book I read Jack curry spoke with David cone with basically told by Joe Torry deal with wells because I don't want to deal with him anymore you can be the lights on and of course in nineteen ninety it worked out because you know wells went about his business he went eighteen for he was the A. sun at ninety eight staff and they ended up winning a World Championship but they had a chance to get Roger Clemens and Danny they want they're going to think twice about training I like wells because they knew how much of a headache he was to deal with right well that's what the program in there with him that his body and they did not make rona guy Danny who was is quite cheesy gadgets in the nineteen ninety six World Series when it comes to getting some big house we all know it that ninety six World Series Fred McGriff Ryan because gill could not solve the riddle of Graham what but said to White Plains Damon is up next season on a fat without damage yeah well let me just say that it's you know fifty five years old you know obviously would score within which is terrible for a lot of people you know I certainly respect that the guard in the supermarket and I really appreciate them because you know nurses doctors often get paid a lot of money people's walked on making money people fast food or make more money then as I said listen you working anywhere right now you deserve props I totally totally agree listen all medical people deserve the utmost praise because they're dealing with it from the front lines aspect but yes if you work in a food store if you work in a fast food if you're working on a truck right now we got your back amen to that my friend amen and there's been a lot of talk this is not the bring upgrades or anything but that a lot of African Americans have been catching the disease well when you live in a project okay or you live in elevators and places where you're not gonna wait till you know five people go up to the seventeenth floor and then come back down and go in elevated by itself that's one of the reason why the social defense and doesn't work for people who are in the in the city in that type of situation opposed the Michael you know I live in White Plains New York where people the houses they live in my house isn't and that you know if you can people even want to talk with diving you need space listen I get it I live in Brooklyn so you you're gonna tell me that there are people who in right now you know my neighborhood listed people doing the right thing I give a ton of credit they dole doing the right thing everybody's keeping this space if you're going for a run or walk you know somebody's coming at you you walk you're going to St you know you kind of move a check can go about it that way people doing the right thing around here we want everybody to be this together and the store that's.

"It ain't never we're about to why do they never about why do which is interesting because people really do believe in poverty as being this great motivator to put people in positions to be successful swale right but why did you see in positions. They didn't need no poverty day. They didn't need no poverty battery pack in they asses in order to get it done. They just got there so you can't subtract those things from you hear these discussions and it's just like no you guys are getting enough and then he wound up with this. Mike Leach somebody as Mike Leach about this California the formula maybe we ought to just have minor league football and have might go ahead and have minor league football and and then those guys can do whatever they want you know but the state of California corneas trouble keeping the streets clean right now so my thought is is that they probably ought to focus on that that's just one guy's opinion and I'm sure I'm probably wrong but you know but at the at the rate California's handling their infrastructure in some of their other problems you know I I think that we'll see how they do with that before I really think it would be that beneficial for the legislature at California Danner Into College College football and if you see benefits to them entering into college football I'd love to hear because they seem to be determined to do it. What are you talking. What about that didn't have any like the Minor League football point is an interesting one just because of what the draw is for a lot of people about college football and in fact if you took the same ain't players and they put him in Minor League football uniforms they may have realized that the football is actually not that good and then I watch it right like if you WanNa talk about that that I do think that discussion that people even on my side of the argument need to be honest about oh which is there's a certain there is a certain style that comes into why people like consume these things and that if you made minor league football we wouldn't be that interested right okay. That's what's the discussion to be had all of that. They wasted passing that Bill. Would you think the legislature was gonNA be out there. In the streets with brooms sweep the streets achieving your goal that would it was like what what what what is this but you see how quickly they went to an explicitly political place in discussing this right and I'm just like a man. Why does the idea of them boys making money. Make you so mad. It's it's not going to cost most of you with thing. Why does this make you so mad. I would also like to know southern for Tibo just thinking about talk about why the college stadiums of so much bigger because Na Na those college stadium so much bigger the stadiums that really big and fill up you know what about all all of them have in common they in places with ain't nothing else to do like La People where Y'all play your home games the Rose Bowl rose bowl got two thousand seats right correct y'all ever fill it up for home games no okay the Coliseum for USC Ninety Five Thousand Sates. Yes a big one. They can't feel that up unless it's like a great game and this is a city with like six hundred million people section off a whole area the stadium where it's the legends regions area kind of like the raiders with Tarp right right but you also. Where's your passion for college football because of all these things that you talked about now man. They got other stuff to do in those places yeah they go put one hundred thousand people in Baton Rouge where else you go and I don't mean this as disrespect. I can appreciate the quaint rural life. I'm saying those places. There is nothing better to do than go to a college football game and hey go into a college football game. It's a pretty good thing to do like I'm not saying Dan that you've chosen like a substandard activity to participate in. I'm just telling you in the places where people got better stuff to lived in Miami for example. It's funny when you go through go to the wiki leaky 'cause the Wiki for season by season with all these teams the attendance on all the Games you go look at Miami like even when they were at their best when they had a big game like they will fill up to Orange Bowl for Florida the state the Philip hard rock now for good game but when they go play some scrubs ain't nobody Goin' why because if I'm GonNa go sit outside and Miami all day long. I can find a better place to do with in Miami Gardens. I can find a better place to do within the Orange Bowl. You know what it's called the beach. I do it at the beach. That's wild and people go on in a big old stadiums because they ain't got nowhere to go. Come on man. You know what time it is. You Ain't got to lie about this stuff. Is the people put like this. Just tell me this assayed is. We'll move on if you don't think that those dudes should get paid. Why are people people willing to break the law did do it because the way let me tell you who does believing boys deserve to get paid the local boosters they believe it they they one hundred percent believe they'll pay and I would actually love to see that poll taken by the way uphold among boosters about how they feel about the idea of paying college athletes because I would love to know oh just how many of them do I don't think the athletes you'll get a check from the school but then give hundred dollar handshakes every Saturday all right breaking news guys breaking news guys he'll I manning is now headed to the pine. We're going into week. Three and Daniel Jones will be the giants starting quarterback I am one of those people who has not been sure about this. Danny Jones thing. It didn't seem like a good idea to take him number six. I didn't see that many people who might trusted who thought he was a first round quarterback. He did look pretty good in the preseason so I guess we'll see how this ultimately goes but that sounds to me like the Eli Manning era is over over Enga- by as you is going to get to coach fired like the last coach got fired for putting Eli Manning on the bench. I don't know they turn to page. Since then. There's been a power struggle there. I think the the the turn of the page was the fact that they drafted the quarterback in the first place and Eli looked pre bed in the first two weeks of the season. This is my only question if you were. GonNa pull the plug on Eli after two games. Why did you even bring him back by. Why didn't Y'all have that talk with him at the end of the season awesome and say hey man it's out for you retire right because now like after that he played the first week they're on the hook for the rest of his salary they they want to release them or whatever their other the rest of salary is guaranteed. Why why why. Why did you even do this like it's been hobbies. This has been done for so long. I never had a great answer to win exactly it was they were going to look up and be like not only is Eli done. He's so done that we're going to pull them out because simply being done wasn't enough for him to lose his job. He lost his job that last time to honestly a better quarterback than him and I don't know why people can't admit this when they benched Eli Manning for Gino Smith Geno Smith was the quarterback. Go look like the last handful of the game. The Gino Smith had played versus the last handful the game that Eli Manning get played Gino at that point was a a younger better option than ally manny was the problem is once you all decide. A black quarterback is in good. There's nothing that's going to change your mind about it right. So Yeah Thorough Gino was pretty bad with the jets but out there in a hopeless situation with no receivers to throw to nothing else good going on around the team and then determined that the dude is terrible forever like when he's twenty four twenty five years old but the Intel Mutasa hills would probably be the quarterback saints one-shot aside that dude is not good auto ride off of it. When it's the black quarterback that's the curse of being the black quarterback right as you put Gino Smith in and people found that to be such an indignity to ally manning that coach got fired and Eli guy to keep his job like two more years legitimate two more years after to that man that's absurd gonna give it another two more years and now they put a Daniel Jones out there. Good luck to him. 'cause I mean he lost not good but but neither is anything else that is surrounding that football team again. I got an Edison statistic for you. Do you know what Eli Manning's career. Record is in the regular the season is it below five hundred. It is one sixteen and one sixteen who almost like. Did you see see that Bruce Bochy Stat. I WanNa see his last week where he had the exact same number of wins in his career as he did losses really for his entire career if he were like oh tanner retire now so if that's how it is with maybe he should just call it quits. That's exactly how I saw. Woody live like Yoda. This is when you walk out of the Casino Right. You were a big right right. You'RE NOT GONNA get back big now time for you to walk. I WanNa know if Eli Walter to the officer was like a coach I just think it's time time for change I just. I just think it's time to move in the I don't find that to be unreasonable but you find that to be unreasonable. Oh I would I would be out of here. What what am I still playing for at really don't know what came back forty. I think he was going to get this thing back together or did he. Just want to check because if you just wanted to check that's fine. I respect that but I don't even know why he put himself through this through an off season working out getting ready and all of that and he's going to be sitting there. You're watching Daniel Jones which you're gonna be able to help them. Here's my question what here's what you can help you with because this is the thing you have to say about. Eli Manage Career and this will be the defining characteristic of his career and it is not the two super bowls. It is not the two super bowl. MVP's it is fifteen drama free years right. He knew how to navigate being the quarterback in New York in a way that seems borderline impossible to do dare jeeter data with the Yankees but even Derek jeter was kicking a different though because you still gain oh dear I you know he was on them so he's still got word about that kind of stuff ally madden even when he was bad man he handled his hero dish straight through he absolutely did like that is going to be the defining thing about.

"Difference figure that out interesting. All right. So that's not strange, right. They can do that. That's not usual. No, it's the exception to the rule. But can happen did happen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if you if you think it, you can do it. Yes. I've always said that you're like the guy for Geno Smith. I know you dream it, he'll build it. I noticed something that one actually Facebook page, you were pretty much responsible for the spire safety, Bill. I was telling my kids bragging about you, look, what Steve Dale, notepad expert did. Yeah, yeah. Well, the real reason is that I was involved with four other bills, because I've the pens to, you know, in the governor signing, and that was governor Quinn. I work with governor Quinn governor around or not so much. But governor Quinn and they've run out of ink. So I had to come up with something. So I had a reason to get new pen that. And the fact that seriously. I mean these dogs are dying in fires not only in Illinois and kennel fires boarding facilities as well all yet, a story here where I don't remember where it was where that thirty one dogs, I mean and for child daycare centers as it should be her. Her lots of laws. That say all right. You must have a smoke alarm system. You must have sprinklers and you must have a person there when the children are there. None of that exist for dogs. Not see that zero anywhere in the country. Not only Illinois, I looked at a couple of places to board Kona, and I from my understanding, they said they had a direct alarm to the fire department. Yes. And sprinklers. But they said, no one was on the premises from nine pm to six AM. And I said, what if a dog is like choking, or something? I just bothers me so should be there. Ideally. Yes, you know, but we couldn't legislate that, now you have choices the consumer, right? To say if no one's there. I'm not taking my dog. I mean dogs can suffer from bloat you know, that's their internal organs, some the, their stomach kind of turns upside down. Yeah. Die die from that. And if there's someone there that dog can be saved if there's no one there. It happens pretty quickly s just one example. I mean you want someone. They're the dogs cannot pick up the phone and call for help. What's more that's rain any animal. Yeah, what's more of in kennels? So if we're talking about a fire, they can't get trapped, you know, at least children, if those things were not in place or tragically. There was a fire. They can run out the door. Even very young kids, unless they're infants you know, they can run the dogs or cats can't because they're in kennels, you know. So I thought we need to do something about it. So what we did is you now in Illinois, when the governor signs the Bill, and I'm certain that he will sign the Bill told he actually when he was told about it, he said, really a great idea, and that is that dogs or cats must if they're boarded edifice illegi, there must be either alarm system that rings directly to first responders. There must be if not that a sprinkler system if not one of those two there must be a person there to actually. Physically call first responders at least one of those three, which is something no other state has. So my hope is that I'm pretty sure now, the governor will sign it would here. This to be proud of something, the Senate voted overwhelmingly. No, that's not the right word unanimously. So right now, if you were to look outside and say, cloudy or sunny, it's cloudy. Yeah. Trick you Wendy. I'll tell you, if you ask, and I had a the state Senator on the phone, who is greatly responsible for this Bill. And I told him I asked them the same question. He looked out the window, and he said, well, raining here said, not if that were brought up in the Senate, you guys debated for three days for sure. And you guys have bright this past. He said, when do you remember anything, passing unanimously, Illinois Senate? And he said, well, I read about it happening. Right. So it unanimously passed the Senate. And when that happens, you know, you're onto something, and it also shows the both parties can come together, at least, something's the matter and talk about I respond IRS. I mean, there are so many stories in the news, where these first responders go into save the family pet so I get it. Well, not only that, but, you know, at least via text of fire marshalls and also people that work at fire departments firefighters have texted me on my show and said, this is a good thing, which I didn't even very well. Thank you, you know, because of the fire is, if they come out quickly, the fire will be contained. Yep. Maybe not spread to another building. A firefighter is less likely to become injured in a smaller fire compared to larger fire. So this is good. In other ways as well. There's an episode of this is us. You should probably skip. I know what you're right. I wouldn't want to what that or, or what I would do is tell them in reruns, you have to rewrite it. Yes. Different. He's proud of you. And, you know, Steve, I'm always proud of you. I'm not so sure that you're always something I don't know. We'll take a break, and then more reasons to be proud of Steve Dale expert. It's WGN you coming home with a trunk full of groceries and it's raining hard, you pull into your driveway? Hit the garage door remote and nothing happens now. What?.
