Period. Three o'clock today. That's what the school district here. We got an email last week saying, Get ready Monday. Three P.m.. The parent portal goes live with well, like the transfer portal. Oh, yeah, so and there will be transferred because you know we've got Facebook pages. There will be complaints about who's in what class and my kid has no friends or Around him or her the actual transfers beginning about 3 15 today. Well, then they used to tell you the t I will use. Um, when I was a kid. They told you the teacher of the last day of school that the teacher you were going to get the next step. So they told you the last day of school the previous summer baseball putting out the schedule life. I mean, my grammar school was small enough that I just knew because There was only one next grade. There was like fifth grade teacher was Miss Schmidt, so everyone had her. There was no doubt this year around here apparently had some re shuffling of teachers, changing assignments, changing grades, which has delayed the unveil. It's actually a week behind schedule, so the drama is even heightened more so than usual this year. Okay, so a B. I assume you're rational parent and that no matter what teachers your two kids get, you will not force a transfer situation won't enter the transfer portal. Am I wrong on the Yes. You're not wrong. These are kind of a couple big weeks here from my middle Macy, because the college coaches around on the road all watching these big tournament so Yeah, That's where you find me today. Buddy. Middle America, The Moines, Iowa. These are the big viewing tournaments where all the players they have to sit through all kinds of N C. Double a protocol lessons And it's the first time that they really get to start focusing in if you won't play college ball, they're going to be a lot of rules. A lot of regulations that you got abide by over the next couple of years. Yeah, there are And this is also a chance for you know, like Geno Auriemma was that was at the game today. Because makes his team play to a team from the South and had just a couple phenomenal, phenomenal athletes. And, you know, I think that's also with these these tournaments do Dory's They expose you sometimes getting your little circle your little community, Ural State and you know, you can kind of get a feel for the competition level. And Yeah, and then when you spread your wings a little bit, you've got teams from Miami. Teams from Georgia, Texas, California It also is just it's really It's both humbling at times, but it's an incredibly competitive environment. And then you know, as a guy like you that loves women's basketball. You see, you know that do Staley and you see Geno Auriemma and you see, you know the best coaches in America that are scouring this country for talent as well. Yeah, and it's really amazing to me. That those coaches Geno Auriemma is one of the best coaching records in any sport in history, and that they still got to scramble every single year because there are wolves nipping at their heels, who want to try to take down the the big dogs and UConn? The big Huskies? And and if you if you let up for one second, and that's where the pressure of college basketball, it just seems to be relentless because if you look down for even a minute Then somebody else can fill that void. Yes, And it's also you would think you get to Gino Auriemma as level and you're like, Well, are you really recruiting? I mean, you're just kind of picking and hand picking. You know the elite of the elite. But yet he gory sits in the bleachers and wants to watch these kids interact. It's not just their measurables. If not is there jumping ability. It's not just their shooting ability, right? I mean, and you hear this from Gino's. I think why you love them, and we've talked about it. A bunch on these Wednesday's over the years is it's your body language. Effort. It's your own selfishness. It's all those things that you need to see in person. And for the last, you know, 15 months or so. Recruiting was so shut down and these coaches were not on the road. They're not meeting players are not getting a chance to Meet family and just kind of watched the whole interaction because you're getting the whole package. You're not just getting you know that individuals, height and weight and suitability. You're getting the whole personality. You're getting the family and yeah, so it is. It is a It's a cool learning lesson for I think so many to kind of broaden your horizon and get out there and compete. Pretty cool. I mentioned something last week and I kind of gave it short shrift. It was right at the end of the segment, but I talked about how you and another parent, it wasn't you. It was just another parent decided to start yapping at you during a game. What I didn't mention Was that the guy realized you told me that he was in the wrong he came up and and as a stranger hugged you and said, I'm sorry. Is that right? Well, it was Yeah, it was about a week later, We played the same team again. And yes, it was. It was pretty neat. You know that we got to come together, and I was kind of curious. I was hopeful that it would I really was because you know, you kind of get those competitive environments and you get a little feisty and I wasn't I wasn't even happen. But he didn't like the looks on my face is my face. And Yeah, so, Yeah, he confronted me and yeah, it was the heart was beating a little bit adrenaline was pumping And then four or five days later, we did circle back and hug it out. Now, I will say this story. I did have the first. This is the first in my life. Uh, my my youngest, Titus had a baseball tournament over the fourth of July. We're out on the baseball fields, and it wasn't our game. It was a game behind a huge ruckus. Parents screaming and yelling. I'm like, Oh, my gosh! What now umpire on the field. Called 911. Oh, man. Four star on the field called 911 calls the game cops come to the baseball park Parents are climbing the fence. I mean, it was just You know, I'm Yeah, it is one that's watched a lot of use sports. Now for the last 15 years of my life. I've seen that continue to devolve. Yeah, man, it was. I'm not going to say it was scary. You do see where incidents and full out brawls and at times, even gunfire and other things erupt and that Yeah, that umpire fearing for his safety, called 911 from the baseball diamond well, and no matter how it's resolved, it's horrifying for the kids, and and now the sport becomes a torture chamber rather than Place of joy. Did you see what happened at that California high school sectional game last week? No, it was the championship game and I think sectionals is as far as he goats such a big state. You don't do state championships, and so it was essentially the highest level championship game. Two boys basketball teams, the team that won Very hard fought game. They won by three points. The other team was primarily Hispanic. And somebody in the stands on the winning team side started passing out tortillas to the players after the game and the tortillas start flying, and they started flinging them. Toward the primarily Hispanic team, and they just decided a few days ago that the team that was doing the tortilla flinging that they were going to lose their title. And that brought up a big controversy. Well, if only if it was after the game, the game was over. They had won the championship, and only a couple of the kids did this and maybe some idiots in the stands. But should all the kids be punished for that? And, uh, I thought I'll toss that out to you because they said, no. We have to send a message. So this never happens again. Yeah, I don't. I don't think that accomplishes a lot. It's the same thing with like Reggie Bush is fighting to get his Heisman Trophy back, and he actually lost the hardware..
