"To correspond with also enjoy. Love this generation of the Commodore's And many others did, too. I think Grammy's and all of that and soon anyway. 5 to 1 83 83 always a delight to connect with you. I want to thank you, Andrew for taking the time out to join us. And Andrew Morgan. General director of Hoi Upper theater. It's good to reconnect and it seems like we've got some good times ahead of us, Andrew Yes, I sure hope so. Rick. Thank you for having me back. Yeah, it's a pleasure. How you been? Oh, um, busy. Good. That's a good thing right way. Just launched a digital world premiere on our digital platform. Hot Digital. And, um, we're gearing up toe, go back to live in the fall and making plans and making backup plans and everything else you can imagine. I know that we're all hinging on decisions made before we can make decisions ourselves. But I I love digital world has Been not a replacement, but a nice bridge. Tell us about hometown to the world. It sounds like it's hyper creative. Yeah. Yeah, I think you know our whole season. Our mantra has been. We're not trying to recreate live offered just up on a beard, computer screen or your TV screen for creating cinematic experiences that happened to be opera and S O. Each of the projects is having a really distinct flavor with hometown to the world. It's AH, It's a really gritty story of three people. Three individuals that are are kind of decimated by on immigration raid on the town that took away 25% of the population and in a matter of days through deportation. But it's not about that Pop The politics of that It's about the humanness of the three characters that represent different factions within the town and how they come together through their humanity. It's really quite powerful piece. Can you share a little bit about Laura Kaminski and Kimberly Reed? Is this a debut of their partnership or are there other works They're known for. They? They have actually collaborated on several works, including a ZWAH on which H O T did a few years back. I think in 2016 or 17 on, so they have been collaborating for quite a while. This is the first solo gig. They have worked with another look Contestant collaboration of the other project, So it's just just the two of them for this one really unique project. But they you know, Kimberly comes from an indie film background herself. And so she she really appreciated what we did with the peace and that way I love this. Andrew. For me, It's just so invigorating. Theater arts will continue to be amongst us but then will return. I talked to Jon Kyl, Eva's Of the whole a jazz quartet in the previous segment, and and just made that comment. I hope we never take for granted. The wonder is arts community that we have here at home. You know the adage that you don't know it until you lose it. I hope we understand that we should celebrate as much as possible. All the time. The arts here at home. Gastric. I couldn't have said it better. It is so important to understand that the arts are part of any culture, and it's not operable. A or or hula or jazz is all of those things. It's just big melting pot of the arts that play such an important part in making a community. A community. Um, you know, I I enjoy watching things on my computer and television. But there's nothing like being in a club or a theater, a movie theater of Concert hall and experiencing lined art in live music that there's a There's a sonic quality that you just don't get on and also the collaborative experience. You know you're sitting next to people that Come from all different walks of life. They may have walked in the door and a completely different move that you did, but they're all sitting there experiencing that same opera, that same symphony, that same jazz piece and And you can feel that collective experience. That's really there's nothing like it. Live performance is just nothing like it. Think there's ah, analogous similarity that it's great to talk to folks on the phone. But of course, the experience is so much better in person. Because the essence is communication. That's what our artists in my mind they're communicating. Whatever the script writer or the author or the composer What they would like for you to experience that you can share with me on the phone had a great day today. We can tell me over dinner, man. I had a great day today. Then you you get that feeling all those senses are intertwined in person. Yes, you play off each other in a conversation when you're in person, there's there's cute physical cues that you can't get over the phone. And I think that you know it. Z equally true with life, performing as a performer, myself and understanding that the audience is there with me. Um, you know, in a digital world, you don't get that immediate feedback. I think that's why some of the biggest film stars of our all time still gravitate back towards life Theater. Sometimes they're making a ton, more money doing a movie blockbuster movie, but the day to day getting in front of an audience and having somebody react immediately to your heart. There's nothing like that love it. We're talking about the Andrew Morgan, general director of Hawaii Opera Theater Hot and, of course, uh, tell us, Andrew. Best way to connect with you. And with H O T. Our entire digital season is up on H O t Hot Digital. Got v hx dot tv or check out our website..

"Academy grad General Flynn, a three star general director of the DEA, railroaded all we lied to the FBI. It wasn't under oath. He thought he was bawling and having a casual conversation. They altered the photo to document. To corrupt FBI under James Comey. They altered the document from from Penitentiary Face Brennan's CIA sent over to the FBI, making it clear that Carter Page was a loyal American working with the CIA on they lied about that. They lied. They lied. They cheated and they altered documents, and they presented fraudulent cases to the FISA court to get worms for illegitimate warrants to spy on members of the Trump of Trump's Circle. And with the two hop rule, keep that in mind and what happened to our sense of fairness, and the answer is the Democrats. Don't believe in that. Because they're not Democrats. They're they're not. They're not liberals. They're the left. They're the left on the left is not Democratic. The left is not liberal. The left is corrupt. And that's what happened to our sense of fairness in this country and fair play and balance. Aunt. It's Ah, It's a terrible, horrible thing. I've got to say that the Democrats have inflicted upon our culture and our country. It's terrible, absolutely terrible. And now the girl Scouts whose job it is tio lift up girls and women and a woman ascends to the Supreme Court for the fifth time in our history. And the Girl Scouts pointed out. And they're excoriated and scorched by the Democrats by the left until they have to walk away in shame and take down their tweet. And, of course, the tweets attacking them or not. Blocked by Jack Dorsey or Twitter, just like these threats by the Muslim former prime minister of Malaysia, calling for the murder. Of millions of French people based on a lie that this liar put out that's not being blocked by Twitter. But President Trump blocked more than 50 times by Twitter because they disagree with what he has said Democrats were fine with that. You're fine with that, because they don't believe in your right to free speech or the president's right to free speech. They will trample free speech rights wherever they can on college campuses. A Twitter Facebook They will trample it your right toe practice your religion freely. They will trample that the Wuhan whatever excuse they want to come in. Well, they're rioting in the streets and mobs and having LGBT Q marches where everybody's on top of each other in New York. But God forbid someone go to church. They're going to Jews, Homes in New York City and breaking up gatherings of 10 people in their homes. Kristallnacht, much attacking violently Jews for Trump in New York City on camera and our media blacks out the story. Just like they black out the Tony B story just like they're blocking the near post news because they don't support freedom of speech. They don't support freedom of the press. They don't support freedom of religion. They don't support your Second Amendment rights. And this is today's Democrat Party. I'm not embellishing it all This is 100% the case and they demonstrated constantly, if not daily. It's daily, then certainly weekly. Let's go to let's go to a telephone call Michael. Let's go, Tio. Let's Goto Sherry calling from Marshalltown, Iowa. Sherry, you're on the Chris Plante show. Hi, Chris. Good morning. Just visit with you about the girl Scouts. I was both a girl Scout camper and a counselor, and I'm just disappointed that the girl Scouts decided to back down. Because I know what I learned in the girl Scouts was, I think that's just the wrong message to descending to young women today. Well under the Patriot Testament, I learned independence. And I learned howto like that got pitched camp. I could live in a tent like a gigolo train and I could use a little train and I could work on all my badge is it's just not the message that no women need right now. This is the girl Scouts should be telling young women. Hey, you gotta stand up for yourself and Girl Scouts was all about God and country when I was in it. Well, they hate God in a hate country there, the left. Right? That's what they teach. They teach this staying anger for country and for God and for church for flag. They burn the flag. They closed. The church's these air, not liberals. These air the left sherry. It's it's you know, I think you recognize a completely different thing. I mean that girl scouts. I'm sure they felt this withering assault from the undemocratic, ill liberal Democrat Party of Joe Biden and on they relented. I'm sorry. They relented, too. But I'm not going to necessarily condemned them for it. I'd like to hear from them. Maybe somebody got vitamin Fox News. CNN and MSN won't invite them on, but I'd like to hear from them and the kind of attacks that they suffered. I mean them. I'm trying to support them and say, Hey, you know, what are you all about now? Backing down to police. Because that's what it is, and I'm just fearful that they want to just make the Girl Scout organization the same way they decimated the Boy Scouts. We need more of this. Now. That's what you know Patriotism with such a big part of being a girl scout. We started every day with raising this flag, lowering the flag learning how to fold the flag learning howto display the flag. You know, I had to have lights on it at night. Don't want to touch the ground, you know, and it was just It's just a shame that they back down. Let it when a very strong on capable independent woman Becomes A Supreme Court justice. They just got their toes stepped on. Yeah. Yeah, well, you know, you've got Kate, the librarian on Twitter, saying you owe every queer girl scout every black girl scout every Hispanic girls got and many more an apology. Because they've they've They've demonized everyone..

"Like in many places around the world, the West Bank and Gaza are in the midst of renewed outbreak of the corona virus. Over the past 12 days alone cases there have more than doubled. Thats a faster increase than almost anywhere on earth. Dr Ali Abad. Rabo is the general director of preventive medicine at the Palestinian Health Ministry. He's in Ramallah. Doctor Abed Rabo. You had a very limited first wave of cases back in April, But since mid June, there's been a very sharp surge in cases what's happened we are facing now as the rest of the world. The second stage off the habit spread off the pandemic. Andi, We have increased number in some governor rates Governor. It is like the states in the US But a small size here there is a spread off the band aid me all over the community. In these governor, it's I understand. The vast majority of these new cases are in refugee camps in West Bank. Why is that? Why? Because the refugee camps are over crowded area of population. S o the spread off the band. The weak and the infection is ah, then other geographic areas. Is there any possibility of creating more space for the refugees? Are there any efforts Two separate people and create the kind of social distance necessary or is it just impossible under these circumstances? No, it's so difficult, but we are providing now isolation off the infected people in the camps in other areas. Eso we take places as hotels in Rommel Ass ity because there is no possibility off the distance separation. Between their population in the camps. The West Bank, as you know, is controlled by the Palestinian Authority, but the Gaza Strip is run by Hamas. Does that split affect the way you're managing the crisis? No, but the situation in the Gaza Strip is so different because there is a siege since several years in AH Gaza Strip. And there is no possibility for the population to go outside the garden. So the policy there wass to confine all the Affected people with Corona virus who are came from abroad in the isolation centers. For that. Tell this moment there is a few cases in Gaza Strip. But the situation in the West Bank is totally different. And we spank. We have no control over the borders. We have no control over the old territory of the West Bank, So we facing a lot ofthe challenges it due to the occupation. The Palestinian Authority just imposed a nighttime and weekend curfew in the West Bank. In an attempt to slow the spread of the virus. They're being taken. We have to focus our control in the investigation on DH contact tracing. We have to increase our diversity off the treatment centers and isolation centers. The one thing that can Be effective in facing this pandemic is the social distance and that's it. Have you been receiving aid from the international community? Yeah, we received from the actual from China from the Arab countries. Yes, we received yes. Dr Ali Abad. Rabo is the general director of preventive medicine at the Palestinian Health Ministry. He's been speaking to us from Ramallah. Thanks.

Placido Domingo Accused of Sexual Misconduct by 11 More Women

"The Associated Press reported this morning that eleven more women have accused opera megastar Placido Domingo of sexual harassment and misconduct this follows accusations from nine other women in an AP report last month NPR's office does it still cost joins us to talk about the allegations had there hi there tells about these newest accusations who has made them and and what exactly do they allege what one woman came for it by name she's a singer Angela Turner Wilson and she alleges that dimming go group to breast backstage at the Washington opera in the fall of nineteen ninety nine she says it happened while they're both having their make up applied and the AP says it corroborated her account with her husband and her parents as well as in journal entries that you wrote at the time but the make up artist told the AP that he didn't remember this incident and he declined further comment and ten other women are also alleging that demand go touch them on wanted Lee persistently asked them for private meetings either in person or on late night phone calls or that he attempted to kiss him but they say they want to remain anonymous because to make us a very powerful and influential person in the opera world he's arguably the field's most bankable star one of the most recognizable names and offer certainly I'm for sure in today's report and the one from last month the AP quotes a number of backstage employees saying there was this kind of unofficial whisper network about Placido Domingo that's right as far back as the nineteen eighties and as recently as two thousand seventeen women try to keep the mango from having any one on one contact with young women even on elevators one woman named Melinda McLean who worked with to mingle at both the alley offer and the Houston grand opera told the AP quote we created these elaborate schemes for keeping him away from particular singers and what has the response been from demand on his team his spokesperson sent a statement to NPR this morning disputing the new accusations sorry she also called today's report quote inaccurate and on. ethical and she says the AP is trying to disparage the singer last month Domingo responded to the nine original accusers by saying he believed quote all of my interactions and relationships were always welcomed and consensual last month both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Opera rescinded invitations for Domingo to perform with them this fall has there been any more fallout now that these new accusations are coming out well the L. A. Harper we're doing those general director has already hired an independent firm to conduct an investigation but this afternoon the Washington national opera and the Kennedy center released a statement saying in part that they appreciated the courage that is taken for the keys is to come forward but that they still have not received any documented complaints about the singer's behavior prior to two thousand eleven when that opera company became affiliated with the Kennedy center but ari a number of European institutions and major opera singers and fans have rallied to support posture to mango since last month and interestingly some of these new accusers today told the AP that this kind of support for dimming go in the opera world is precisely why they've chosen to keep anonymous that's appears on a star here till class thank you

She's a revered expert by diversity and cultural commentator who speaks about gender and society is transgender. She works at a very impressive sounding scientific institution that she is. Now, I am the general director of the Humboldt institute with is the national research facility for by the word city on ecosystem services in Columbia. You are an expert in by city that's the variety of plant and animal life on the planet, but is Columbia a particularly bio-diverse country used to consider our country as the most by diverse country world sometime this that with Brazil but seven times bigger than Columbia. So we have the highest concentration of species in the world and much of the fighting. That's taken place in Columbia over the last fifty years has been in rural areas, so what sort of factors that had on wildlife hair? It's a kind are Nairobi the rain wartimes in conflict, many regions of Colombia were not accessible to people under for the became protected by default. But of course, when there's conflict around your cannot make decisions about. Anything related do not resources or what life management or officials? So then it shifted very much the capacity of the government and institutions really reserve or manage animals and plants of certain regions and this ended in a very bad situation when the conflict started to stop we lacked capacities and lacked institutions to really cover up the places where left by the conflict in temps is bio-diversity. Bridget. What would you say is the most pressing concern in Columbia to thinks one is deforestation mostly in the Amazon rainforest, we are very worried about more than one hundred thousand acres of forest last year. And then we have pollution on illegal gold mining, and this is really really bad for rivers and wetlands, and and this is a huge program, and you have been living as trans women in Columbia for twenty won't the environment for transgender people like in Colombia, it's becoming much better Columbia has very Vance constitution in terms of rights for the TV people on it. Allows sex change just by pronouncing it I kind of go to any judge and claim my felt sex on gender. And then the state has to duty to support me in terms of legal advice and process. Everything goes, well, very well, say in terms rights are equal. But of course, there's the culture sometimes discrimination is very hard. It occasion is very complex because of Catholic country on public education is not really split from the church on. So we need to improve all the culture conditions for a healthy and diverse sexual community. What would you say is the best thing about hay Cartagena? As a festival, I'm a biologist for me super -tunities to talk with. People that are writers artists people are very influential in the way, Colombian culture is being redeveloped or promote it and science always myths that source of inquiries, I really come back to to my job in the publicity, plenty of ideas. And also to learn how to communicate better science. We need good ways to tell stories..
