"Eric in the world on the brink, and I believe all of that is true. The biggest choice election tipping point election will ever have, by the way, not a good couple of weeks for Biden. And by the way, Amazon just discount of the book 40% off If you're out, and about now and maybe you get home and get a nice discount. I love that. Also, it's now finally in bookstores. If you're also out about this weekend, we have announcements on Monday. We'll bring you Let me start with Biden. I mean those positions he's taken one of I've been saying we've never had a more extreme. What you know a so called mainstream That's not major political party that is this radical. And this is the week Biden talked about. Oh, undocumented immigrants should have subsidized healthcare and all abolished the filibuster if Republicans don't compromise after he said he wouldn't do that. And unlike African American African American community, the Latino community is diverse stupidity. You know you ain't black if you're considering voting for Trump. All things that, he said. And then we course are Joe Biden montage on issues involving race, which all beyond disturbing in Gene Robinson. I'm curious what your take is on Joe Biden's comments. And, yes, I think that may have been an artful but but it's the first time that the Democrats that I've heard a national Democratic leader Actually say what he's been saying. Aaron, let me start with you. Is it a very insulting the Joe Biden disparagement insult the black community. If he's trying to make the point and maybe didn't make it as articulate as he would have liked that I believe the point is trying to make is that most African Americans overwhelmingly support Democrats. And if you travel the country and you go to Florida, for example, you have the Cuban American population, or you might have Puerto Rican population that has moved to Florida that has a different view than, say, Latino in Nevada, Arizona ISAT, disparaging and insulting with, the former vice president said. I think that that that is right, John. That was maybe an artful contrast that the vice president was trying to make and then obviously you saw President Donald Trump seizing on that, you know that kind of in artful remark did present kind of opening. For President Trump in Delaware. Largest growth of population is Indian Americans will be from India. You cannot go to a 7 11 dunkindonuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. What kind of a chance with a Northeastern liberal like Joe Biden stand? In the South better than anybody else. You don't know my state. My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state is the eight largest black population in the country. Unchain Wall Street. They're gonna put you all back in chains. Yes, And by the way, what you all know, but most people don't know. Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is incredibly diverse community. Incredibly different attitudes about different things. You go to Florida. You find a very different attitude about immigration in certain places than you do in your RV when you're in Arizona, so it's a very different Very diverse community. Should undocumented immigrants also be able to get subsidized health care If they are working in the United States America and they are paying taxes. They should have access to health care. They should have access to everybody else's has access to should undocumented immigrants also be able to get subsidized healthcare. If they are working in the United States America and they are paying taxes. They should have access to health care. They should have access to everybody else's has access to the way trump. The way China will respond is when we gather the rest of the world that, in fact, invasion and free and an open trade and making sure that we're in a position that the world that we deal with is a long way until November, we got more questions. You got more questions by telling if you have a problem figuring out whether you're from mere trump, and you ain't black. I mean, I think it all speaks for itself, speaking in his own words, all right on this Friday, let's get to our busy phones. Let us say hide. ELISA Marie is in new Joy Zee. What's up, Lisa? Bloomberg taking steps to enter presidential race as a Democrat

"Former New York City Mayor. Mike Bloomberg appears to have taken the first steps to start a presidential campaign today the New York Times first to report that he dispatched staffers in the Great State of Alabama. Today which doesn't have a particularly doesn't have a particularly important role to play at this point in the Democratic primary. Hey but Alabama does have an early filing deadline for candidates getting their name on the ballot for the Democratic primary. So we'll be talking a little bit about that Bloomberg News later Iran tonight. That news is causing lots of buzz and interestingly lots of ripples of speculation about other Democratic candidates who might still still get in. If Mike Bloomberg's apparent move here can be seen as a sign that actually. It's not too late for more Democrats to get into the race to try to win this nomination nation. I will just mention that our Pulitzer Prize winning colleague Eugene Robinson reported online tonight that multiple sources have told. Excuse me that a single source has told him that. Former Attorney General Eric holder has been talking to strategists about whether he ought to get in the race as well again gene Robinson reporting matt tonight with a single source but if eric holder is potentially in the mix and Mike Bloomberg looks like he might be in the mix. "Okay. But what about we're back to the global warming discussion? What about the fact that the United States is the world's leading producer of carbon emissions and the leading increases of missions are in China in India. Well, don't worry Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post has an answer for you. He says this acting alone would be pointless skeptics say indeed China is now by far the world's biggest carbon emitter with United States seconds in India fast, rising, third what would be the point of going to great efforts to reduce emissions while others. Just burn more coal think about it though. Whenever as I said before whenever somebody says to you that sounds like a really dumb idea, but I want you to think about it just think about it. You say jumping off his three storey roof with no parachute in your underwear is a bad idea. But I really want you to think about it for a second think about your wants and needs think about it. We are after all the second biggest Amidror, which means any substantial reduction would indeed have measurable impacts. No. It would not know it in fact, would not sorry to say. But that is not true. The fact is that if the United States cut its emissions to net zero and if the sensitivity of the climate is a four point five multiplication that is the highest possible. According to the IPC, see how much would the temperature decreased by twenty one hundred zero point one seven three degrees celsius that is not even measurable that is not two standard deviations outside of normal. Remember the estimate is that the global temperature is supposed to rise somewhere between three and four degrees celsius. So you're talking about one thirtieth of that one fortieth of that. Maybe that's what you're talking about to destroy the United States on that basis. But don't worry you gene Robinson says that it's measurable. So I guess we should just listen to him now that he's offered no proof. He says that's a rationale the green new deal that the make America great again crouching embrace. If you believe in American exceptionalism, you believe that the United States has a duty to lead a moments of crisis. This is such a moment. So jump off that cliff guys. You want to be the first ones off what you want China. The first people to jump off the cliff. What are you un-american you want trying to be the first people to clock themselves in the head with this giant mallet? Do America leads guys follow. Look at the big picture says Eugene Robinson unless you deny the science of climate change. You have to believe that we need to take bold action. I agree. And in one second I'm going to give you my solution to climate change. And let me tell you. It is bowl. It is audacious. It does not take into account cost. It does not take into account practicality, but it is an answer to this emergency..

"Denounce the green new deals policies as prohibitively expensive, totally unworkable or somehow Venezuelan if these opponents would stop shouting long enough to actually read the document, they'd see that it's not a compendium of concrete policies at all. But rather a set of goals. Yeah. I've read it and the goals are unrealistic and quite stupid because when you propose things that are utterly unrealistic. Like, let's harness the power of the sun. And if we harness the power of the sun than we can power everybody's life at an income level twice. What we normally do what are you talking about? What are you talking about? If we can find. An alien source of energy that provides us cold fusion, then we can fix the world thinking big audacious a set of goals. He says they're the right goals. The green new deal seeks to outline a national project for our time. Not just a response to a grave environmental threat, but a framework for enhanced growth opportunity and fairness the laudable aim is to play offense not defense. I mean, it's like the guy just stacked up cliches in the movie bull Durham, which I've famously said is an overrated film. But in the movie bull Durham, there's a great scene where Kevin Costner is trying to inform Tim Robbins about how exactly he needs to act when it gets to the major leagues in his interviews. He needs to just spit cliches. No, we take it one day to time. I'm doing my best out there. The team comes first that is this column except with environmentalism the water will Mr. play offense not defense in the fight to limit climate change. Well, aren't you inevitably playing defense when you're fighting against encroaching looming disaster, he says we are going to have to wage that battle one way or another. Why not do it on our terms before Miami slips under water and the unburned parts of California? Go up in flames. I love this idea that Miami is going to be underwater like in the next two years. Does it occur to people that overtime? Human beings are massively capable of that application that if you give somebody one hundred years, and he told him, by the way, your house is going to be underwater in one hundred years. What are you gonna do about it that maybe they might start making gradual plans to move away from the house that will be under water and one hundred years the best historical analogy, I love this one the best historical analogy is not the new deal but World War, Two don't stop Pluto. He's already rolling guys when mobilization of the nation's vast productive capacity, not only defeated Germany and Japan. But also generated unprecedented domestic economic growth hugely expanding middle-class World War Two did not generate unprecedented domestic economic growth after World War Two when the economic growth happens when you mobilize every military age male put them in barracks and feed them rations for four years. It turns out that that is not economic growth war does not create economic growth is a basic economic fallacy. If work created economic growth than we would be involved in massive wars all the time. We are not believe it or not even Afghantistan Iraq. When not massive wars by any serious measure. Once again, as you gene Robinson, the planet faces a dire threat once again, the United States can help lead the world victory. Okay. Well, I have a proposal. I have a proposal. You know, what's actually easier than getting rid of all carbon fuels and airplanes. You know, it's actually easier than slaughtering all the farting cows. We shouldn't say China and India we shouldn't have in China and India because the United States is the world's number one reducer of carbon emissions, you know, who continues to ramp up their emissions India and China. So if you wanna like in this World War Two man, let's do this thing you want to like in this World War to say, there's an emergency..

Because if everything that matters is in the here and the now and the materialistic, then if this is all we get if all we not not even afterlife wise, if all that matters is our economic performance, if that's what we see happiness as than what we really should be doing is focusing every day on doing what it is that we won't even if it means making mud pies. And then we should force other people to pay us for that. And if we can abstract the obligations of other people to pay us for work. They don't want to society at large if you don't have to look at our neighbor and say pay me five bucks for making this crappy sculpture, if instead we can say society makes it possible for all this to happen. If we can magically think like that if we can think away the problem of going broke on other people's money, then socialism sounds pretty good. This is the draw of socialism the drought. Socialism is a materialistic philosophy. That's. That true, freedom wise and not being held to account for the decisions that you make and not having to match up your own subjective perceptions of value with somebody else's ideas value, and you know, what that ends in it ends enforce because in the end, if you cannot be paid for the stupid things that you are doing by somebody else, you're going to have to force that person to do something that they don't want to do every socialist system inevitably ends at a certain level of force the more socialism, the more force. And that is why Venezuelans are eating dogs and fleeing the country because somebody has to be forced to pay for this bleep show. Okay, interest second. We'll get some things I like and some things that I hate to things that I like, I love this so much. I love it. So so much Erik swallow. This guy is one of the people running for president. He tweeted out yesterday, and it is just quite wonderful. He tweeted out a picture of himself in the snow in New York City. And he tweeted it snowing in New York, I need coffee the closest cafes inside Trump Tower. This is me walking to an alternative and the hero music rises to twin to turn to the turn. Just incredible Eric swallow. What what you know, they say that heroism is dead. Seventy years ago. Young men stormed the beaches of Normandy at risk of their own lives. Many of them died in the attempt to free the world of Nazism and fascism today. Eric swallow, walks half a block to a different coffee shop so that he doesn't have to participate in doing business with an independent contractor working inside Trump Tower who pays rent to Donald Trump heroism is not dead. My friends not all heroes wear capes, and Eric swallow is just another indicator that hit you today. You can be the hero. We all have the hero living inside of us at Eric swallow is proof of that each and every day wouldn't amazing amazing human being swallows. We should we should we should be. We should praise that guy. Would you make that guy president? I mean, why the hell mon- it? Meanwhile, some things that I hate. So couple of things that I hate to gene Robinson has a piece over at the Washington Post called. Yes, the green new deal is audacious, but we have no choice. But to think big now as I've said on this program before I have a basic rule. If somebody says an idea is audacious that is code word for stupid, but ambitious audacious means stupid but ambitious it never means just ambitious or realistic. But ambitious immunes stupid in embassies. It means unrealistic ambitious. So you say I have an idea all the world's people will be fed with unicorn crap audacious idea, Mr. Shapiro audacious. So you gene Robinson says that this is a very audacious idea super audacious who's afraid of the green new deal says Eugene Robinson. I'm not well, all right. It's embarrass aspirational improbable..

"We see the faces of our meters on television and feel cry not Shane it is not a matter of can we it's a matter of do. We have the collective will the American will. I believe we do together we will Shanna or common pain back into our common purpose together. America, we will rock. Raw? On Cory Booker. And I'm running for president of the United States of America. So he's in bullying. No, exploratory committee, no know, dipping your Toan. He's fully in Joe listening tour. No, nothing. Cory Booker running for president and twenty twenty Reverend Al. He's called you and asked you your thoughts. Why don't you give us give the rest of us? Your thoughts about what we should be looking for. As Corey Booker becomes the four hundred seventy third person decide they're going to sake, the democratic nomination present twenty twenty very valuable valuable nomination. Because I think most would suggest right now that whoever wins that wins the presidency. I think that he should not be on decimated. Corey I've known Corey came up fought his way into being a Rhodes scholar. Good went to Oxford. When no one thought he could do that given his background. He came in. When he returned to the states. He went and lived in norc lived in the projects ran for the city council. One ran for mayor against the status oughta. In the machine shop James who beat him. He came back again and beat the opponents became there and kept living in the project still to this day. So he has a story to tell of how he fought from the bottom and kept going. He knows the people on the ground. I think he's going to be a very interesting candidate. He's very braver charismatic. He's hard working not think is going to be a real battle. And I think that that is what the democrat party is going to need. Yeah. Gene. Gene Robinson for most of your professional career in life. Most of my professional career.

"Homeless. Yeah. I I I was listening to I was listening to morning Joe on my commute coming into. It's like monitoring an enemy broadcast. Thank you. Gene Robinson said we've got to watch out because TSA and other federal workers might start quitting their jobs because of the shutdown and joining this new a robust economy, and I defy anyone to name a single federal employee who gives up one of these sweet gig gigs. I've never heard of anyone leaving the federal government and joining the private sector known many government workers state local. There been some recent stories that, you know, the average wage in the benefits and the time off the average federal employees is is not quite double that of the average private sector employees. But it's pretty doggone close. And you're exactly right. I think the president is as you see federal employees, quote calling in sick needs to to make sure that when they come back to get their pay. They need to bring a doctor's note or get fired. I wanna know what's what the TSA workers that they missed two paychecks, and they start announcing to Al Qaeda. We're calling in sick. I mean these guys come on in. Now's the time. These people are supposed to be motivated to defend our country. It's it's like if it's just a paycheck, and there's no patriotism. There's no concern for our safety and our country. Well, why why is the government even in the TSA business? Just so people are starting to realize, you know, when you have so many of these businesses and other organizations like, well, we need a government certificate. We can't get our government loan approved. We can't get this project approved maybe the government. Maybe maybe we shouldn't have the government involved in these things at all. I mean, I was a history major. And so what I happen to know that we had farmers before the department of agriculture. Well, one of the defenders of of Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer's keep the government shutdown for illegals was on on TV the other day claiming that these TSA folks are only being paid fifteen dollars an hour. I'm not buying that. I don't I don't believe that. And they're also now starting to complain that. Well, they might miss weapons that are coming through the system because apparently they're not going to be doing their jobs while they're on the job if they don't call in sick or or failed to show up. And yet you've had some of these test cases where they've had people go in there missing fifty to sixty percent of the weapons anyway. Of course, I I don't even know why they're legal to have a gun on a plane anyway. So you don't that doesn't even make sense to me because I'll tell you right now. There would have been no nine eleven if passengers on those planes were armed so Neil, listen Saturday. The president gives us compromise on the shutdown. Yeah. Congress is apparently out of town for another week does the shutdown in soon. Now. Yeah. Congress has got to be a the house of representatives has got to be out until till Monday. Well, basically they're gonna fly in Monday night, the twenty eighth and they'll probably will be a vote scheduled on something around six thirty seven o'clock. And that's that's not so much an important vote. But they just they like to schedule a vote that first night in just so it's almost like taking a tendency just to make sure everybody's wait. A they were gone for Christmas holiday. They were gone for New Year's holiday. They were partying at least on the democratic side down with lobbyists in Puerto Rico. Then they were going to go on this. This this boondoggle to Brussels and wherever with a few of them, basically. These folks have been off the last six weeks. Well, I mean well made I have to check. But I'm pretty sure I think McConnell is actually called the Senate back in. They might actually be in today. I'm just going to have to verify that with the cloak room. It's still early here. But the the the new house schedule under Nancy Pelosi is going to have at least one week off every month. This is the Democrats style of work apparently, and what they're gonna do they going to extend. So like, I was so much of what happens in in Washington depends on the calendar. So basically, the only work that actually done it's between the state of the union in Memorial Day. And then the rest is sort of garbage time and then from Memorial Day to July fourth is kind of that sprint. If there was something that absolutely have to have to get done. The try to get it done before the July fourth break. And then you start these extended recess. True summer, which so then things picked up after Labor Day. So the Democrats are going to instead of having that July fourth break, they're going to push through basically. So that the house will be in session until the end of July, the as I said, you're going to have a week off every month. I went to public school. So I I was not a math major like you have a history major swell. But even even with one week off put aside all their other breaks vacations that that means they take off about three months of each year. Hold on. Yeah. Actually.

"Second of all. All except sudden parts of which my might have to be done in secret. But second what we asked the transfer made public after the opportunity after the FBI had an opportunity to review them to redact secret information, whatever that hasn't happened. Instead, they've been leaking information isn't this Iki? And I know we live in crazy times. I don't mean to interrupt you chairman, but isn't this wild that the Republican members on your committee who are now in the minority are complaining about leaks through what you're describing as their leaks of material that hasn't gone through the proper process, you know. Well, I thought there entire investigation was was just set up to to undermine the investigation to undermine the the FBI department of Justice. But those leaks must stop or or let's put it this way. They must stop. They must stop chairman that material after proper action should be made public. But right now, I I catch the nuance. And I also catch that you you you are the chairman with the gavel you're not going as far as you might yet. But but you're at the beginning of your tenure on a big day here for the Muller the and the future and the DOJ thank you for being here on my special. Thanks. Thank you. Gene Robinson, Hashem Bertrand as well coming up, another new powerbroker in Washington joins the table, chairman of the Intel committee, Adam Schiff, we're gonna talk about this breaking news, including Muller's new filing on Paul Manafort and tough questions about why Republicans finally review white nationalism when it came to Steve king, but have not ever done the same in the house floor regarding Donald Trump Charlottesville address. Also, what Trump's attorney general nominee got wrong today on this specific issue of the Komi firing my. Breakdown on that later, and what local news is saying in Mitch McConnell's home state of Kentucky about his refusal to even get a deal on the shutdown. Amaury Melbourne, you're watching the beat on MSNBC. What you commit to making any report Muller produces at the conclusion of his investigation available the congress and to the public as I said in my statement, I am going to make as much information available as I can consistent with the rules and regulations that are part of the special counsel regulations. Donald Trump's new pick for attorney general. They're not really committing to make the mullahs report public, which is what so many people have been waiting on. In fact, the house investigations under the Democrats have said they've been staying out of the way of many things until that report comes out. Well, the chairman of the house intelligence committee, congressman Adam Schiff joins me. Now. Thank you for being here on such a big day for these issues. What did you think of that answer? I found a completely unsatisfactory that answering the answer recusals or the two red flags for me the problem with his answer. Basically, I won't agree to defer to what Bob. Thanks should be public is we now have a situation where a an incoming attorney general takes the position. You can't indict the sitting president. You can only impeach a sitting president. And I'm not committing to share with congress or the American people the information, you would need to know to make a judgment about whether the president's conduct rise to that level. You just cars when you just put your finger on. And I think this this is so important. There is a legitimate debate within our system of government of what do you do if you find bad enough things about a sitting president? But if this president in the middle of that investigation, install someone who can short circuit, whether the public or the congress learned that information, then it seems to actually be potentially changing our system of governments check on that situ on that situation. But it's certainly highlights the need for congress to continue its investigation because the Torney general nominee made clear today, he's not making any promises about what he shares the congress. We can expect I guess top line conclusions from Bob. Muller? We can expect him to follow the letter of the law that if he turns down at prosecutorial decision by Muller, he'll notify congress. But that's all he's promising which is literally saying I'll follow the rules. That's what he's supposed to do..
