"Can survive some of the sites and sounds of Talladega boulevard the night before race. But all right, you teased it before we got there and I had no idea where you were going with any of this stuff. So this is the portion of the program where we give folks an actionable element. Where are we going for a best bet this fine program? Well, we're going to stick with what old Larry Mack said. And we're going to talk about a championship bat last year. We gave out Chris Bell that we were kind of talking about towards the latter part of the season. Earlier this year, it gave out Kyle Busch, and we definitely got the better number there. A little bit concerned as to how that 8 car is running and just how the team is operating since Fontana, however, we're getting into the meat and potatoes of the season. And hopefully they can get that thing turned around. But there's a guy that I want to highlight and there's no reason to wait till after Talladega, even though I don't think he'll win this week is Kyle Larson. Kyle Larson is as low key having an incredible season and like Larry pointed out better than his 2021 year, which was arguably the most dominant season that I've seen in my NASCAR short window of watching. Listen, look at these tracks coming up. You've got Dover, Kansas, Darlington, and Charlotte. I mean, I think we could see him win all four of those races. And I think that he's going to win one, maybe two of those races. After Talladega, so I think now is the time to pull the trigger on Kyle Larson at 6 to one, pretty much spread across the board for that championship. I anticipate him after in about a month or so, his odds being that three and a half to four to one range. So I think it's time we pull the trigger on Kyle Larson at 6 to one to win the championship. Look at you over there, making a case for Kyle Larson this early in the year trying to lock up the number. I mean, from Kyle to Kyle we go and let's hope he's got enough playoff points that he's got in the bank. And where it comes to worse. You know, if Kyle finds himself on the outside looking in an elimination race, we can always add to our position and try and take advantage. So instead of doubling down on Talladega, we're gonna add to the championship portfolio with the 5 car, pair him alongside the 8, and we'll figure out what other drivers that we can identify going forward. Anything else that you would like to add before we close up shop heading into Talladega Talladega weekend. Now for those of you guys well, I guess that for everyone that's going to be the race good luck. You don't shoot me a message or a tweet. Let me know who I'm rooting in. It's impossible for me to not turn on the last few laps of the race and I still get nervous and curious as to who's going to win. And for those of you that are just taking the week off, I don't blame you. Enjoy it. And we'll get back to the grind next week at Dover. And there's another big thing going on next weekend. I can't quite remember, but the podcast stops for no one. I mean, while the podcast will stop in July, when the second portion of the event that you're describing does take place. But yes, we will talk a little bit more about that next week. You can bust my chops accordingly. And we'll get into it. But the show must go on regularly scheduled Dover breakdown coming next Wednesday. You may just have more earth Thursday when it gets released. You just may have more work on your plate on race day for Dover to get me down for a variety of reasons, but we'll share all that with our loyal listeners next week. Again, special thanks to Larry McReynolds for taking an hour out of his busy schedule this time of year to stop by and make us all smarter about our NASCAR betting and our general NASCAR knowledge and encourage all of you guys to follow Chris on Twitter at Chris wormy 15. I'm Todd fuhrman, you can follow me there. Most importantly, follow the podcast at bet the board pod and with a Kyle Larson ticket in hand come the final race of the season in Phoenix.

"I'll still do some talking. All right, on to stage three we go and we obviously share to the top of the show. We talked to Larry Mack about his drivers to watch at Talladega. And the main reasons we don't bet the race, I know it sounds like a broken record since we set it for the Daytona 500. We said it going to Atlanta, although honestly, I may actually have to handicap Atlanta the second time around. I know it's susceptible to the big, but it feels like it's getting to a point even after the first couple races there that will be able to handicap it. But Talladega, I mean, Larry talked about how the bow ties has been better. We've had 11 different winners, Fords have had dominance in the past. And obviously, when you look at the odds board here, I mean, you have about 97 drivers priced as low as ten to one depending on the book, upwards of 20 to one. And it's a who's who of super speedway racing from Joey Logano Ryan Blaney Denny Hamlin and chase Elliott William Byron Ross Chastain. Brad K Kyle Busch Kyle Larson Christopher Bell Ricky Stenhouse, Bubba Wallace Tyler Reddick, Chris busher, the list goes on and on and I'm not gonna say I sit here and I'm gonna spit out mathematical probabilities with a model here, or I'm gonna watch practice to try and give us an edge. So for me, quite frankly, I'm not gonna be betting the race. I may have to take a small position though on the guys that Larry mentioned, just because if they win, I wanna give him his due price. Right, yeah. Yeah, I definitely like what Larry had to say about Ryan Blaney in his chances this week. Unfortunately, Ryan Blaney is not much of an underdog this week. I think he's kind of pretty consistently a favor along with Joey Logano, which is very understandable after that run that he had in Atlanta. What I did like the discussion, Eric Jones. He's 25 to 35 to one. I think that if you're looking at some long shots, I do like Eric Jones, had a chance to win here last year. As Larry Mack was saying he's like, I don't know how he doesn't win. And but that speedway racing. And the other guys that I do think might warrant some plays is depending on the price. I've seen some Brad Keselowski upwards of like 17 to one. I do think that if RFK is going to get a win here in the short term, it's going to have to be at a super speedway type track. I think that he's obviously really talented here at Talladega. And I think that the final guy that I think maybe is worth nibbling that I've seen in anywhere from 45 to 60 to one, I think that FanDuel had 60 to one was Ryan Preece. And I know that he's been when we bet on him. He looks good and has a terrible finishing position. And when we bet against him, he looks terrible, but just kind of grinds out at good finish. So I think that I don't like that 45 to one as much as I like that 60 to one. I think that SHR has a little bit of momentum coming off after last week. I know that it's just Martinsville and it's completely different, but hey, you got all four of those cars qualifying in the top ten, which is something that they haven't done in a long time. I do think there's a little momentum in that 41 camp. And coming down to that last lap, if you're in the top 6 or 7, you have a chance to win this race and Ryan Preece certainly could get it done. And don't worry if Ryan priest doesn't win here. I have a race circled later in the summer where I will bet him in the outright market assuming that he opens at a reasonable price. I'm not giving away that track right now, because I don't need that thing to get beat up when it hits the bank. When it ultimately does, I'm glad though you didn't offer up a bad on Riley herbs that a hundred to one I'm not sure we could go to the window with a ticket on Riley. But I do have to ask you, I mean, do you want to go back to the well with Corey Lajoie? I mean, he did well by our listeners at Atlanta with our pre week best bet and since we're not going to have any additions on Sunday, I know we haven't gotten to the best bet yet, but is this a spot where you think Lajoie can run it back the same way or Daytona and Atlanta better suited for the way the 7 is running? You know, I haven't thought much about that as I will not be giving out a pick for Talladega as a best bet. I have a different best bet in mind here. Yeah. I know. Curveball. But all right, then you know what we can close the book on Talladega. There's no reason for us to ramble about a race we don't want to bet on. For all of those out there that do tune in to Talladega and are going to bet the race we wish you the best of luck. Make sure you go to your synagogues, you go to your mosque, you go to your church as you pray to whoever you need to to hope that lady luck is on your side on race day because you're going to need to avoid the big wreck. But I will say one thing worms here, I am going to make it an effort for us to get down to Talladega next year for the April race. There's a radio station I do work with down there is kind of extended the invitation. So we may have to take full advantage and see if we can survive some of the sites and sounds of Talladega boulevard the night before race. But all right, you teased it before we got there and I had no idea where you were going with any of this stuff.

"Get long green flag runs for what we do, makes like a life a heck of a lot easier because things tend to play themselves out. The way that we draw them up through a lot of our research and I feel that provides probably the proper segue. And we kept saying one question one question, but this may be the final one for me. You know, we're not really going to make a strong case to handicap Talladega. So instead of Chris and I going into our long winded breakdown like we normally would do in stage three, we're going to flip the script layer. We're putting the onus on you since you just said you watched last year's Talladega race. That we know there's favorites, long shots, and value picks, so to speak within the betting odds and the pecking order this weekend. But who are a couple drivers you may have your eye on. I know you tipped your hand a little bit earlier saying that, hey, Team Penske has done things real well. RFK and such. But are there any other drivers or even those guys that you think are going to run real well this week? And if they can avoid the big one? Well, normally when we look at Talladega and a lot because of Team Penske, you do look at the Forbes. They've won ten of the last 15 races there. But what that said, we've had 5 races at Daytona and Talladega with his next gen car. Yeah, Austin won the Daytona 500 out of the box, but ever since then at Daytona Talladega, it's been the bowtie boys. You know, Ross Chastain won this race a year ago. Austin Dillon one day toner last August. Chase Elliott, one Talladega the last time we were there and Ricky Stenhouse junior, all in Chevrolet's won the Daytona 500. So to me, that's a little bit of an X Factor. You look at our last 11 super speedway races between Daytona and Talladega. You guessed it, 11 different winners. But two drivers, if I did bent. Eric Jones, and he's probably a long shot at the truth be known. And that 43 car. He's got three consecutive top ten finishes there. He led the white flag lap last year at Talladega and kind of got shuffled out with a block that went kind of bad on Kyle Larson in the 5 and ended up finishing 6, but he was so strong there last year. And you know, again, Eric Jones, we talked about legacy motor club. I'm not sure what's going on, but you know what? O Talladega can be the Eliza. But the guy you mentioned earlier, Ryan Blaney. He's the only repeat winner there in the last 7 races. He finished second when we were there in the fall. If I had to pick two drivers that may be actually would be a little bit of a long shot, it would be Eric Jones and Ryan Blaney at 12. You know, Chris, I'll give you last word in a second. One thing I will say, Larry for all of the different nicknames that they've had fun picking and choosing with you with, you know, Mac nuggets, max strategy, as long as you don't have to go by Larry Mac fades in the gambling community. It means you're doing something right. So we'll keep close tabs on those picks. We'll see how things are going, but Chris, I wasn't sure if there was anything you wanted to ask Larry, who has been overly generous with his time. We always budget Larry about 30 minutes for these guests, these discussions are longer and couldn't be more appreciative of you taking time out of your busy schedule to jump in, but Chris, go ahead, final workout. I'm just kind of curious who wins the championship this year if you had to pick right now. If I had to pick right now, I like that 5 car. Right now, when you look at his 2021 season, the year he won ten races, the all star race and the championship. I know you got to be careful reading too much into the tea leaves because things change. But right now, in a lot of categories, after 9 races, he's ahead this year of where he was in 2021 the year he won ten races in the championship. I just think that bunch they're going to be awfully dangerous. Think about Hendrick motor sports. Martinsville was the first race weekend since race number two at Fontana that everything was normal. All four of their drivers were there, all four of their crew chiefs were there. They didn't have a penalty levied against them. They didn't have an appeal that was pending. It's the first normal weekend. They've had since race number two all the way back in late February at Fontana, California. Yeah. I agree. It's there. Well, I think that you can kind of get through the playoffs on strategy or having a long or short run car, but you can not win a championship without speed weekend and week out. And the 5 has had just speed. Could easily won California. Get an easily one Vegas, we could be looking at someone who's won on four completely different tracks this early in the season. I think it's tough to disagree with Larry max choice there on the 5. Remember, guys, you can follow Larry Mac on Twitter that's at Larry Mac 28. He's an analyst on Fox NASCAR. You can listen to his daily radio show from 9 to 11 eastern alongside friend to stay green, Danielle trotta as well. But can encourage you guys enough to hang on every word that Larry Mack shares from the moment they unload at the track until the moment that they interview the winner in victory lane, Larry, can't thank you for enough. I apologize, well, at least a little bit for busting your chops right off the top for Alabama, but you know, well, the first game the crimson tide lose this fall, you'll be getting a note for me and I'll go see Larry. Nick stay overstate as welcome a little bit and you guys may want to try a lure Kirby smart back to Tuscaloosa. Well, if you send me a text, if Alabama gets beat, do it early because there's a long list of people that love you. Larry, that's one good thing. That's the one good thing for Chris and I, we at least give it a 24 hour moratorium. We're not guys that throw salt in the wound. We know when people live and die with their bets and their sports teams that you give them that little window to feel bad and kind of nurse things back. But have a great race weekend. We can't wait to see what you have in store for us on the coverage this weekend from Talladega. And we will be rooting for Ryan Blaine and Eric Jones. So we can call him Larry Macbeth. All right, guys, Todd, it was great to see you have been seeing you in Chris and Jordan hanging out with you guys. Yeah, thanks a lot. Now that's talking NASCAR worms, or it's nerding out in every capacity, basically rapid fire at Larry Mac. No, he didn't want any questions or anything ahead of time. He said he wanted to have a free form conversation asking him about the Alabama football, talk a little NASCAR and lo and behold, a wealth of information and I couldn't have been more thrilled to Larry was so generous at this time. No, it was awesome. I could shoot to shit with Larry all day long. That was I'm not sure. I'm not sure Larry feels the same way by you though. Well, he might not, but listen, if I'm shooting a shit with someone, it might be a one way thing where someone's just sitting there maybe with earplugs in. And I'll still do some talking. All right, on to stage three we go and we obviously share to the top of the show. We talked to Larry Mack about his drivers to watch at Talladega.

"Think gambling is a valuable vehicle that NASCAR has leaned into a not for that we should be doing more to go, hey, look, this is a unique perspective that we can provide for our viewers above and beyond, you know, those fans that have grown up in a NASCAR family where they were going to Darlington. They were going to Talladega at four and 5, and we know we're going to stick with them, but you know what? We can get to that 25 to 30 year old crowd that grew up in New York City that grew up in Los Angeles and gambling can be the way that we can get them into the NASCAR community. Yeah, I do Todd, I really do. And you know, I don't gamble. I don't bet on any kind of sport whatsoever. It's just not what I do. Certainly don't bet on NASCAR because I would feel very uncomfortable doing that being a broadcaster, but I can see where it's an important element. We see it in all other sports. You know, I've got a friend, one of my probably, one of my best Friends, I don't know that he cares that much about actually NFL football games in college football games, but the reason he pays attention is because he bets on him. And I can see where it's a very important element and that it would create more of a fan base that maybe wouldn't be attracted. Could they not wager on the races? And I guess there's so many ways to bet on NASCAR because we're not one team versus another team. Every single week, we have minimum of one versus 35 others. And then all the prophets and all the other things that you can do. It's endless. How you can make a wager. If I, the way my race picks have been going on my own track, radio show. I'm glad I don't gamble. I'd probably be eating out of a trash can, but I'm not had a good year picking winners. That's for sure. When I tell people, when I tell people what they ask, they're like, wait, you bet on NASCAR for a living? Like, I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm like, yeah, no one really knows it's a thing. I just decided to tell people that I'm retired because I just made a hobby and then all of a sudden has been able to monetize it so I can retire and then just bet NASCAR on the weekend. So I guess I'm just retired. But I always tell people that it's like betting the entire NFL season every weekend. Because you have your pick to win the Super Bowl. Okay, who's your bet to win the race? You're able to pick a couple of guys there. Then you have your head to head match ups. Those will be like your individual games. You got the falcons eagles, whatever. But then you have group bets. Those are like division bets. You know, you have the best driver of the four. So I think that gambling is obviously that was the conduit that got me into the sport and a lot of my friends that have kind of taken interest in the F one side of things because of the TV show. I've like, hey, let's bet a few NASCAR races. And then you tell me what you enjoy more. And now it's every weekend. I'm getting 30 or 40 texts like, hey, who are we picking today? Because they're into the racing. And then you throw in another element, which would be live betting, which is like during the race, you can start to make your bets. And that's a big portion of what I do, just watching the races. So I was wondering, is there any plan to incorporate some of the live options in broadcast potentially? And I know that you have to be careful. You can't take an old school NASCAR fan and force betting on them. Right. But is there a chance at a stage break where you could just kind of flash live odds and say, hey, you know, and actually have a conversation about who they think that can win the race. Because there's a lot of guys, they'll just put the bets out and not watch the race. But if you have the opportunity for live betting, when someone goes to the rear for a speeding penalty and they go from 8 to one up to 12 to one, that might be a great opportunity. Do you see that kind of taking place at all in the broadcast or have you not heard anything about that? Yeah, that's probably Chris a different floor than I work on. I think it'd be a very cool element because to your point, I think that's going to have more people paying closer attention to the race as it is unfold because as we know, that's the neat thing about NASCAR is every single week, you know, if you go to an NFL game and let's just say with 6 minutes to go in the game, the score is 35 to ten, you can go to your car and drive home and feel pretty good about what the results were. If you go to a baseball game and you're heading into the top of the 9th and the home teams win in 9 to three, yeah, things can change, but you got a pretty good idea. I'm telling you, when you go to a NASCAR race, you guys know this. You better not leave those grandstands. Are you better not turn that TV off until that checkered flag is waved, because we know how it can change. I went back last night, I may have mentioned this earlier and as I do every week, I watch the Talladega race from one year ago. And I still don't know how Ross Chastain won that race. I mean, going through turns three and four, it's like, oh, I mean, obviously no now he did win it, but even rewatching it a couple of nights ago, I went, how did he do that? That's called NASCAR racing. That's called you just don't know until they've crossed under that checkered flag. You know, it reminds me Larry of when the CFL was operating under the marketing slogan, no lead is safe. And I think NASCAR is probably the truest illustration of that. And that's kind of what led us to naming the podcast what we did stay green because Chris and I go if these races stayed green as much as we love getting you on the screen early during the spring and early portion of the summer to tell us that the trend suggests we're going to get a late race caution, which ends up flipping our portfolio upside down.

"More road course races. You know, we've got 6 now including the Chicago street race, but I think that's a good mix. I even look at the playoffs. And I like the way that it's kind of mixed up. Because it is a mixture of all the types of tracks that we go to. I think the only thing we don't have in the playoffs is a dirt race. But we don't need, we don't need one dirt race. Yeah. You know, sometimes I think I've been in the sport for over 40 years and NASCAR can be one of the greediest sports there is. I always related to taking aspirin for a headache. If you really only need to take two to get rid of that headache, while hail, I'll just take ten. That'll really get rid of it. I think we've been guilty of that for many years with NASCAR. We did it with mile and a half tracks, we did it with lights, we did it with a lot of things. We got greedy and we have to take, make sure we keep the concept that less is more. When you only have one, it keeps it special. When you end up with two or three or more, it's not special anymore. It's not people don't look forward to it. And I like what we've done with the Bristol dirt race. I've already heard people going, oh, well, we need to go to the streets of Miami. We need to go straight. No. We haven't even won yet. Let's do Chicago first. Let's see how that goes. And if we want to move it around and have one a year on a street course, great. But we don't need to do two or three. I don't care how good it ends up being. Yeah, I mean, I think, you know, listening to you talk and describe that thought process, you know, getting the clash out of Daytona moving it to the LA coliseum was a big win. It showed that NASCAR could replicate that footprint and move it to metropolitan cities, whether it's LA, whether it's New York and a variety of other spots in some of those non traditional markets. I think it was a major win for NASCAR. Now, do I like what the race is necessarily become when guys are just driving through the back of one another? Absolutely not. But, you know, beggars can't be choosers and we can be critical of some of the restarts that we saw at coda that we're going to see on the indie road course, but that's probably a different discussion for a different day. We'll wait and see how things unfold in Chicago with that. And I do have to give NASCAR credit for his critical Chris and I can be of the sport at times and largely of the betting community and some of the options there that the sport has gone away from its roots and outside its comfort zone that it's looking to kind of expand the horizons. And we mentioned, you know, the current track mix, especially in the playoffs. You know, we're not happy that Talladega is one of those playoff operations because it takes one off our plate, but I think it's the perfect way and that level of unpredictability that on a football Sunday, you know, Talladega gets top billing in my house or in my man cave to watch to try and see who's going to be able to punch their ticket and move on to the next round because you can't just sit back on your laurels and race for points, especially if you're on the cusp even with those bonus points knowing, hey look, you may get a guy that's dead and buried at the back of the field, but they've got Talladega circled and suddenly Ricky Stenhouse, so we all rode off, may have a chance to continue moving on and dancing deeper into the postseason. And you know, to me, Todd, stage racing that we started in 2017, awarding the stage points, awarding a playoff point for a stage win, and we know today how valuable every single point is. All year long. We know how valuable every single playoff point is to put in your bucket to have in your account when you get to the playoffs. And before stage racing, you know, it wasn't unusual, Daytona 500, both the 500 mile races at Talladega. They'd get to about lap 30. Let's just go single file and run around the top of the racetrack. Let's just log some laps. That ship has sailed. Now these guys know about how valuable those stage points are and those playoff points for winning those stages to me, stage racing was a game changer at a lot of tracks we go to, especially the road courses, but to me, it definitely helped the racing at the two superspeedways Daytona and Talladega. You know, I want to come back to Talladega in a minute, but kind of switching gears Larry. You obviously have your fingers on the pulse. You know, we talked to all the guys in the garage. You know, I know the higher ups and NASCAR lean on you. You have the ears of the brass at Fox. We're of course a gambling show. And obviously Chris and I look at the sport through a very different lens than someone that is a lifelong NASCAR fan that grew up with it and their DNA. Hell, I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. NASCAR was a 6 letter word that I had never even heard until Chris introduced me to the gambling side of it, but it kind of forced my hand a little bit in a very good way that I'm following the sport throughout the course of the year, not just during the course of the season, but silly season as well, looking to try and stay engaged, watching a lot more laps and races in their entirety. When we look at the legalization of sports betting, we know there are a number of casinos attached to various tracks around the country, whether it's Dover, whether it's Hollywood casino in Kansas City, Michigan. I can go on and on here.

"Think the casual fan necessarily looks at JGR and goes, you know what? Christopher Bell is probably that flagship driver there. He may not have as many wins under his belt, but he's starting to put together the consistent finishes and you guys talked about a number of drivers. I want to get to the track mix in a second in terms of what we think about that. But a driver that Chris and I struggle with almost on a weekly basis because he typically unloads fast, we know the potentially has, but he hasn't visited victory lane in an eternity in a points paying race as Ryan Blaney. Were you watch the 12 on a weekend week out basis? Are there things you're seeing or that you would expect to see from a driver that's building that memory bank that he's not able to go out there and execute because he has fast race cars? We've seen what Joey Logano has done in the 22, but the 12 can't seem to put it all together and grab himself that checkered flag. Yeah, and you know, I thought two years ago, you know, the last year that Todd Gordon was there with him. I thought that was a breakout year for Ryan Blaney. Because he finally won multiple races. You know, up to the end, he was just winning that one race a year. One race a year. And it's almost like we've drifted back to the oh Ryan Blaney. You know, qualify top 5, lead a 130 something laps. Wednesday one, second stage two, and finishes 8th. Just can't close the deal. Just can not close the deal. And I know it has to be frustrating for him, and I know it has to be frustrating for his young crew chief Jonathan hassler. But I think if they can ever break that barrier, if they can ever break that barrier, I think they can make things happen. Quite honestly, a lot like Joey Logano and Paul Wolfe, at Martinsville, they overachieve to come home 7th. They overcame a lot. And we are headed to Talladega. I know we don't like handicap in Talladega. I know you guys for the most part. Thank you. We get on. But he's the only guy that's won more than once there in the last 7 trips. And his last win was at a super speedway at Daytona back in August of 21. So do you know what do you think his best place to hit best chance to win is a super speedway. If we're just looking at the next 5 races, you got Dover, Kansas, Darlington, where he really struggles Charlotte and maybe gateway. I know that last year, the forge were pretty strong there. But where do you think if he's going to get his first win, where does it happen? I kind of thought Las Vegas and Phoenix, you know, those are the two of his best tracks. And I kind of anticipated him being the fastest going into Phoenix. If he were to maybe get a win early in the season, this could be the start of maybe a three or four win year. But at this point, we're going to tracks that maybe don't fit him as good as Vegas or Phoenix, but where do you see him potentially getting his first win? This year? Well, you know, again, if I was filling out a fantasy lineup for this weekend, he definitely would be in my lineup for Talladega. He finished second when we were there back in the fall to chase Elliott. Dover, I look for him to run off a good at Dover, but again, I just think the Ford camp right now, Stewart Haas racing, RFK racing, and that's quite honestly that's been another little bit of a pleasant surprise to see how they're starting to come together here and year two with Brad joining over there. And Team Penske, I'm really anxious to see them at those intermediate tracks that you just reeled off right there. I think that's going to be a telltale sign. If they can get Ryan Blaney to Phoenix in the fall, as part of the championship for, he's finished second there, our last two trips there. He's never made the championship for. He's only been as far as the round of 8. But if they can somehow get to Phoenix, but they're going to have to start winning some races. You can get there so far on points, but then you've got to figure out how to find victory lane because that's quite honestly at the end of the day. That's the ticket to be in there to race for a championship. It's such an interesting dynamic because when you look at Blaney, he both of your guys points. We see him race with speed. We see how good he is when he's at the front of the field, but he makes that costly mistake. It's shuffled back and whether it's lack of aggression or vision. Look, I've never been behind the wheel of a race car. So it's hard for me to be critical of drivers operating at that top level, but just doesn't feel like you're confident that if he gets shuffled back to 15th or 16th, he's able to do what it takes to drive his way to the front of the field and ultimately grab that big win. But listening to you guys talk about the upcoming schedule and Larry, we had Regan Smith on a few weeks ago and was great to get his perspective. When we look at the way the NASCAR schedule lays out, we can say what we want about the Bristol dirt and the fact that these guys get one off week for 36 races as far as the overall track mixed. Do you feel that NASCAR has landed on a bit of a sweet spot that we have the right blend now of short tracks, intermediate tracks, road courses, super speedways, or if there was something that if you were the commissioner of NASCAR for one day and you got to design the schedule that you really like to see the sport change for the better. Boy Todd, you know, you'd ask me this about 5 or 6 years ago I went, oh my gosh, there's a lot of stuff we need to do different. But honestly, I like to mix right now and I like the way we lay it out too. I like the fact that we have the West Coast swing with back to back to back races out west, especially in a time when the weather is not that great in other parts of the country. I liked it. We just kind of went through the short track swing. You know, with Richmond, the Bristol dirt race and Martinsville. I don't think we need to add any more road course races. You know, we've got 6 now including the Chicago street race, but I think that's a good mix. I even look at the playoffs. And I

"He had the same number of top tens that Denny and Martin had combined for top tens. And that's all that Martin and then he had prior to Martinsville. I'll tell you another little bit of a surprise. Legacy motor club, I realized that Noah Gregson is a rookie and I've always said the longest distance between two points is the Xfinity series garage in the Cup Series. It's a short wall, but it's a huge gap. But I'm not even using him as my measuring stick. Eric Jones in that 43 car, they won the southern 500, even though they were not a part of the playoffs. They were pretty solid through those last ten races last year. I think he had like four top tens in the playoffs, including that win in the southern 500. And now he and Noah Gregson combined 9 races, one top ten finish. One top ten. Noah, I know he's a rookie, but he only has two top 20 finishes. A best finish of 12th in Atlanta and Atlanta is the only top ten finish there Jones. I don't know that I expected those two to be knocking the gates off of victory lane, but I really expected a whole lot more. And I know Jimmy only ran Daytona and only ran coda, but not a lot of fruit beard there, either with that 84. Oh, and he was bad at Kota. And every matchup we could. I mean, it let alone just, I think it was a lap one rec. But that seems just not where they were last year. It's almost like a step backwards. And I'm really high on Noah Gregson long run. I think that he's kind of a wheel man. He could find himself and you get a high line race. I'm interested to see how he does at a place like homestead where the tire fall off and the different line is kind of like a great equalizer. But yeah, those are two good points on, I can't believe Truex, especially because he went out there and won the clash. It's like, wow, okay. Yeah. New year, new Truex. And Ben really disappointing. And obviously the flip side of that would be Hendrick motor sports. I mean, just you look at just their fastest laps. I mean, they're the fastest thing week in and week out winning. In the most competitive on all tracks, right? You could go from a road course, you go to a dirt track, you go to a short, you go to Fontana. I mean, I think Kyle Larson could have easily won Fontana if he stays in that race. So who's going to be, you know, if we fast forward to November, who's going to be what team or what car is going to be able to compete with Hendrick motor sports? You know, a couple of guys that I've got my own, we've talked about Joe Gibbs Racing. We talked about Hamlin and Truex. Christopher bale in Adam Stevens, the last four times that coach Gibbs went to victory lane and got to celebrate and take his picture was with Christopher bale. By far the winningest driver, Joe Gibbs Racing right now over the last call it year and a half. I think that he could be a player in this whole deal. And I'm going to tell you what. I know it's his last season, but I'm still not ready to write off Kevin Harvick. I think that that group right now, they're just kind of hitting the ball right down the middle of the fairway. But that's what Kevin Harvick does, right down the middle of the fairway. And I'm not sure about last year's champion. Joey Logano, they've got the super speedway stuff down. He finished second in the Daytona 500. He won Atlanta Motor Speedway, probably will be tough at Talladega, but I talked to Paul Wolfe as crew chief. He said, we got work to do with the intermediates and we've got work to do on the short tracks. Once we leave Talladega outside of the all star race at North Wilkesboro, I'm anxious to see those four intermediates. We've only run two intermediate this year. We've run Fontana and Las Vegas, but we've got Dover. We've got Kansas. We've got Darlington, and then we got the Coke 600 in Charlotte Motor Speedway. When we get through those wave of races, I think the picture becomes a little clear about who the players are truly going to be moving forward. Yeah. Oh, go ahead, Chris. I was just going to say, that's a good point. We've had such the difference in race tracks. Now we're getting into, okay, we're going to revisit some of the same tire compounds. And some of the similar configurations to get an idea of, hey, this wasn't just a one off and not that I think that it is for Hendrick motor sports, but if you have to pick I guess to comment on your Harvick last year, he was good on the long run. It almost every track that you expected him to be good at. This year, he's starting to qualify a little bit better. It's only maybe a matter of time where they start to get this maybe top two or three qualifying position, maybe even put it on the pole. Go out there and have that clean air all day because he's done nothing but past cars the last two years because his qualifying has been so bad. I agree with that Kevin Harvick. And it'll be interesting to see. I think Chris Bell is another guy who's just had consistent finishes. And my nickname for him is AI, not Allen Iverson, but artificial intelligence. By the end of the race, he just finds himself learning so much that he's able to get the best finish out of his car. Sorry to cut you off. No, no, no, I think, you know, you guys both hitting on Christopher Bell. I mean, Larry, our podcast listeners were sitting with a Christopher Bell ticket in hand last year to win the championship and obviously got their sweat equity out of it. No one he had to win two elimination races to even make the final four in Phoenix, but you know, when you see him win on the dirt track at Bristol, his 5 wins over the amount of races it took, put him in rarefied air alongside the Denny Hamlin's in the Kyle bushes of the world.

"Do have and that might be the reason that Denny Hamlin has not been to victory lane in almost a year. Call it 11 months. The Koch 600 last May. Again, I don't mean to be derogatory or negative toward Denny. I got a lot of respect for him, but maybe quit focusing on what we don't have and focus on what we do and the results may end up being a little bit different. It's such an interesting time for the sport on a variety of fronts because as fans and betters, obviously, anytime you introduce a new variable, it's great for the equation for Chris and myself because we can identify an edge sometimes faster than some of the folks in the garage not knowing exactly what kind of machines are there and there's no doubt we bitch and moan when it becomes a track position race above all else and when you see the field get completely flipped upside down because Anthony Alfredo is the one impacting the overall race product that we see, but I know it's great for fans. They love stage racing. They love to see some of the competitive balance out of it. And you try and figure out how to create that best product for the drivers involved. The teams to try and get that infusion of fresh capital out there, which has been outstanding to see what Justin marks is brought to track house when he took over for Chip Ganassi racing to get guys like Michael Jordan a star power that Danny was able to facilitate with 23 XI. So for outsiders like Chris and I, we look at and go, you know what? We'd almost like a race sometimes. It's a snoozer. If we can identify the best car and they go out there and leave 400 laps, but to be candid, probably not what NASCAR is after and would make for an awfully boring telecast for you. Shannon and Jamie to have to fill some of that air time out there. We can only listen to Clint boy or talk too much before we turn down the mic a little bit. Mike joy's got to step on his toes up. He actually, he actually has Mike went out during the Martinsville race and I talked about CFO, my lord, there is a God. Planted death. But you know, obviously, my attitude changed when I went from becoming a crew chief to a broadcaster in 2001. I think Jeff Gordon's outlook changed. Clint Boyer's outlook changed. I got to be brutally honest. When I was a crew chief, Chris and Todd, I lobbied for all kinds of stuff, but you know what? The stuff was, I was lobbying for what would help Larry Mack. I didn't care. I'm just being honest. I didn't care if there was 25 people sitting in the grandstands. As long as Larry max race car was leading, winning. That's all that mattered to me. And I guess case in point, there's no doubt the drivers, the crew chiefs, the current ones. They have the interest of the sport at heart. Because a rising toddler saw a ship. But Bill Franz junior always had a saying. If the drivers don't like it, it might be the best thing we can do because that's probably going to be the best for the show. It might not be best for that driver, but it might be the best thing for our show. So sometimes I think you have to sift through what the drivers are lobbying for because it may not be the best thing for the sake of the sport or for the sake of a good race on Sunday. Oh, I'd be looking out for number one first and foremost, there is no doubt. And if I was in your spot Larry, I'd be doing the exact same things I could care less about competitive balance and I'd want to make sure that I could put my race car on the pole each and every weekend and go out there and absolutely snooze the field, but Chris, I know I cut you off. I wasn't sure where you want. I just kind of wanted to kind of keep asking questions about just this particular season. I guess outside of William Byron, good or bad, what's the next biggest surprise of the season? And like I said, it could be good or bad. Oh, wow, that is, that is a tough question. Well, can I answer what mine would be? Because I'm really biased. I gotta throw this in. So I was really high on. Here we go. I can't help it. I can't help it. It's all a Kyle Busch. Go ahead, Chris. Kyle Busch's struggles. Go ahead. So I guess I should say, who's your biggest surprise good or bad? And why is it Kyle Busch for the bad? I guess it should be the question. I just thought Kyle was going to have a better season, especially coming out and having a great race at Fontana. We haven't even seen him be really competitive outside of distant third place car at coda and probably a distant third place car at Bristol. Other than that, we haven't seen him be in the top 5 outside of those couple races, so I guess that would be my biggest kind of shock to the bad because I thought that Reddick was faster in the a car last year than we're seeing in Kyle Busch this year in the 8. So that would be my surprise to the bad side of things, but I didn't know if you had another one. Well, think about this so Chris and I realized Daytona is kind of an animal of its own just like Talladega, but he was one caution away from maybe winning his first Daytona 500 back in February. A lot of mistakes, you know, go back to Martinsville. They never overcame. We talked about Ryan Preece and speed and penalty. Never overcame that equipment interference. Kyle Busch, I think maybe the first three, four, 5 races. I think he had a pit road speeding penalty almost every single week, so there's a lot of things that they need to clean up. But I go back to the talk about Denny Hamlin. In his teammate Martin trex junior, can you believe we just came off a race number 9 at Martinsville? And that was both of them. First top 5 finish of the year. It's one of the deepest parts of the season at Denny Hamlin's ever went without a top 5 finish. Now he and Martin, they've completed every single lap of every race this year and we're fourth of the way through 2023, but hard to believe those two drivers. In fact, hit it in the Martinsville, ty Gibbs, The Rookie.

"Race, Ryan Preece in stage one is able to pass Ross Chastain. He ends up pinning the 22 and Joey spending the entire day working his way back on the lead lap, but I didn't mean to cut you off, Christmas. Yeah, no, I think that kind of ties in with the next question is, do you have an expectation Joey obviously struggle a little bit in practice? You could tell that then they had to go to the rear and Martinsville. The leaders are going to become in quickly and to stay on the lead lap is really important. Obviously, to get a decent finish, I'm wondering, and Ryan Preece is a great example of this. We've seen Ryan Preece actually have very competitive cars the last two weeks. And he's had horrible finishes relative to how good his car was. Whereas if you rewind to Phoenix in Las Vegas, I thought Ryan Preece really, really struggled in practice. And in qualifying and was able to get decent finishes because they are expectations were so low. Now all of a sudden, they have a race winning cars, they're up there beating and banging with the leaders and he can't get a good finish. Is there an expectation where you don't want if you're Joey Logano and let's just say you're an 18th place car going into the race. That's kind of your idea. If you can find yourself in the top ten, hey, we'll take it. We'll move on to next week versus, hey, we have a race winning car. We have to do everything we can to win the race. Is there like a different mentality that a crew chief or a team has? Knowing what the car that they have for that weekend. Does that change weekend and week out? You know, I go back Chris to my 18 years as a crew chief and outside of winning the race. You know, slide the win aside, but I was much more excited and happier and more fulfilled on days where we maybe took a race car that wasn't what it should be and really overachieved with it. I was probably more fulfilled with that than on days we had a top 5 car and finished in the top 5. It's so hard today. The competition is just so spot on. I mean, go back to last year, 19 different winners. That's unheard of. Non racist issue. We've had 7 different winners and look at the drivers. It's not found victory lane. But if I was Ron priest and Chad Johnson's crew chief, I'd have been pretty disappointed about Martinsville because it looked like to me that first stage and even beyond that first stage, the only driver that could beat Ryan Preece was if Ryan Preece beat Ryan Preece and you know what? Ryan Preece beat Brian priest. He got busted for speeding on pit road. To win these races today, there's an old line. Remember the movie Friday night likes when the team went up against that team that was much better they were and what the coach totem be perfect. You know what? That's almost what you have to be today to win these cup races. You've got to be perfect on the racetrack. You got to be perfect with being mistake free. You got to be perfect with your pit stops. You got to be perfect with your strategy. And that was just one of those days when you've got that many drivers on the lead lap. We had 35 of the 36 drivers that started at racing at Martinsville, still in the racetrack with a checkered flag wave and it's just going to be hard to overcome a pit road speeding penalty. Honestly, I'd have been disappointed if I was at Stewart Haas racing period. Those four drivers, they all qualified inside the top 7, they collectively led 264 of 400 laps and barely got one driver inside the top 5, and that was Briscoe that ended up finishing 5th. Almirola finished 6. Harvick and those guys beat themselves with the loose right front on the last caution. And then we talked about priests and the pit road speeding penalty. It's so wild, Chris, when you ask Larry that and listen to his response in terms of trying to figure out everything it takes to win a race with this level of parody. Obviously it's what NASCAR wanted from the next gen car. They wanted a lot of these teams to have a playing field level. Are you surprised by how much some of the so called elite drivers are pushing back on it? We know Denny Hamlin's been pretty outspoken about looking for a better tire compound that really highlights driver skill sets. So we get some of those comers and going goings. And it puts a little bit more of these outcomes into the driver's hands. Or do you think NASCAR is kind of the perfect mix now where, hey, look, the driver can do everything. He does, but it may still not be good enough to win the race of his pit crew doesn't do their job. And vice versa, knowing that it really is a full 360 all hands on deck type effort to kind of win some of these cop races, unlike what we see with the separation of the have nots and the Xfinity series or of course the trucks. Yeah, I mean, Todd, there's no doubt, you know, the racing at Martinsville was entertaining. You know, did we see drivers driving all over the top of each other and wrecking each other? It was a race that only had 5 cautions and two of those were for stage ends. But to me, it was still an entertaining race, but with that said, I do think we still have work to do on our short track package. You know, I think we've improved it with the lower down force with the two inch rear spoiler and some things that's been taken away underneath in the rear diffuser area, but I still think there's work to do. But you know, Robert Yates that I worked for for 6 years, he taught me so many things. And one thing he told me don't focus on what you don't have, focus on what you've got. That's the people that were prevailed. And I've got a lot of respect for Denny Hamlin. No doubt, he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. You know, it's blows my mind to man has not won a Cup Series championship. But here's a guy that's being very vocal. He hadn't been to victory lane in almost 11 months. Let Kyle Larson tell me what he thinks. And tell me what he thinks. Let Tyler Reddick tells me what he thinks. Sometimes I think people get caught up in what they don't have versus just working on what they do have and that might be the reason that Denny Hamlin has not been to victory lane in almost a year. Call it 11 months. The Koch 600 last May.

"You know, can you walk us through some of the evolution of where the Americas crew chief nickname came from mister feel goods and everything else you've been able to accomplish in your illustrious time, both obviously as a crew chief and now as a fixture in the Fox broadcasting booth. Well, I really can't take full credit for the for mister feel goods. That was a DW ism. And DW had a lot of isms. Fabricated a lot of words. In the 15 years that I stood beside him in that Fox booth. So that was kind of his deal that he came up with, no different than boogie boogie boogie. America's crew chief atom Alexander just like falling out of the sky out of the clear blue one day, put that nickname on me and it was one of those nicknames that just stopped. Honestly, it's very flattering. You know, that's a pretty big role to feel, but yeah, that totally came from Adam Alexander and it just absolutely stuck. Larry McNuggets, it kind of came about when I started doing SiriusXM NASCAR radio a few years ago. We wanted to come up with a segment and Brad Gilly, who I was co hosting with at that point on the late shift on Monday and Tuesday nights. He one night said, we've got some Larry McNuggets at Larry's big kicking up about the upcoming race weekend and now Danielle trotta and I we're in our 5th year with the own track on SiriusXM NASCAR radio. We're on 11 to one Eastern Time every weekday. So, and now this year, we came up with Larry mech strategy. Every Thursday, we unfold the strategy for the upcoming race weekend. So I guess just having a last name with Mac on the beginning of it, that kind of you can kind of turn anything into it. Mac nuggets, back strategy, Mac, whatever. You know, I gotta ask one fall before I let Chris get into some of the racing stuff. And you can be honest with us here, Larry. It's a safe space in Danielle was extremely generous with her time to come on for season opening episode of stay green season two to talk at the preview. Is it tougher for you to work with her on a day to today basis or does she have to endure a little bit more working with you for two hours every day during the course of the year? You know, Danielle and I have such a long history together. You know, sometimes I look at her like my daughter, sometimes I look at her like my sister, we just, we hit it off from the very beginning, going back to the speed days and then of course transient and FS1. And you know, I think she knows my weaknesses and my strengths and I know her weaknesses and strengths, which honestly she has very few weaknesses. But we just kind of compliment each other. It almost reminds me of some of the drivers that I had a really good relationship with Todd and Chris that she can almost finish some of my sentences and I can almost finish some of hers. We hit it off in the beginning and hopefully we're together for many more years to come. Now it's a great lesson and can't encourage our listeners enough. I know a lot of them are gamblers by trade and they've developed a passion for NASCAR over the last season and a half that we've been doing this show kind of learning some of the ins and outs. So encourage you guys to check that out. 11 to one eastern on NASCAR radio on SiriusXM, but Chris, all right, you get to fire some of the actual racing questions Larry's way. I sit here, I'm going to start taking notes because I know I'm going to learn an awful lot from YouTube. Yeah, Larry, thanks for taking the time. This is pretty cool for me. As someone that's kind of paid attention to the sport very closely for the last 12 years, I always say it's nice having you in the booth, getting well informed information to the fans. So I'm happy to have you on. I have a couple of questions. The first one would be, in this day and age, would you rather have all the benefits of a short run car in a race? Would you rather have a long run car or would you rather just be on the right strategy? And then think of all the things that go into that like short run car, you're obviously going to qualify well, get that good pit stall. Whereas long run car, maybe you're qualifying 20th with a 20th place saw, or would you just rather say at the end of the day, I just want to be on the right strategy, which one of those three things would you prefer in a race car with in this particular car? Yeah, I think Chris, the way I've seen these first 9 races unfold, I want to have the right strategy. I go back to Martinsville. Joey Logano. In the 22 car, they did, I don't even know if they had a top 15 race car. But they ran that long green flag run long and caught a caution before they had made their green flag pit stop. They pulled strategy on that last caution with 30 laps on their tires and elected to stay out. And that you're talking about turning lemons into lemonade. They took about a 16th place race car and came home with a second place finish. I look at what Hendrick has done this year. When you look at Kyle Larson's win at Martinsville, going with those two tires. Going back to Phoenix, when William Byron won the race. Going with two tires. So yeah, I'm greedy. I want it all. I want a long run car. I want a short run car, I want perfect strategy, but based on what I'm seeing this year, I just want to be on the right side of strategy and that's probably going to get you to victory lane. Yeah, that kind of time. I'll let you go in a second. It's almost like Larry knew exactly who we had in our head to head matchup that we bet NASCAR's most popular driver and chase Elliott over Joey Logano. It was as though he was a third party with listening in on our introduction to the show and he wanted to throw salt in the wounds talking about Joey Logano flipping his race. The one thing I'll say to Larry though, calling the 22 16th place car might be generous, given the comments that he offered up after the race, saying he was just lucky to finish on the lead lap, and that's nothing you hear knowing the competitive drive from the 22 and how close he was to being multiple laps down.

"Absolutely. I mean, there's very few cars that we're making passes throughout the day. Even the guys that started towards the back, maybe Blaney early on was decent at making passes. I would say where we were wrong. I thought chase Elliot was going to be a little better. And the expectation of him coming back. Obviously it's great for the sport. His lap times at practice we're good. I thought he would qualify a little better. If I could look back, I know that we gave out chase over Logano at minus one 35 or minus one 40. And looking back, if I had known how bad lagana was going to be, that would have been a much bigger bet for us. And by the way, I would have faded him with every other guy I could have, knowing the kind of car he had. But this is NASCAR. This is not golf where someone could just miss the cut and you win your bets. I mean, the first half of the race Logano was just trying to stand the lead lap, however. You know, he had to throw a Hail Mary, and this is what Paul Wolfe is great at doing. He takes calculated risks and he stayed out. And the other thing is, whenever you're staying out longer on a green flag run, you are waiting for exactly what happened. That caution where you stayed out. Everyone else pitted to inherit this track position. Now, the interesting thing is, I said earlier this year, if you pit early in a green flag cycle, there is a good chance you will have a loose wheel. And that will bring out the caution. And sure as shit, that's what happened this week. And it definitely flipped every one of our matchups, went from winning to losing. And with 80 laps to go in the race, it's really hard to overcome that. So I'll sit here and say, I wish I had faded Logano Moore, knowing the kind of car he had. However, where I was wrong is I thought Chastain was going to be a little bit better along with Ryan Blaney. I thought those guys would work their way up to the field, but you know what? It's just hard to pass these days. And you get strung out and you maybe can pick up one or two spots. So if you're not aggressive with strategy, it's really hard to make it to the front. You know who the big winner was with that loose wheel and that basically that caution that flipped the entire race upside down. It was Andy's custard. The paint scheme on Anthony Alfredo 78 car that got showcased live on air for the first time being relevant because it completely had a negative impact on the way the race unfolded. But you got to stay on track. I mean, that's the name of the game and hope for that Hail Mary if you don't have a race winning car. We should sponsor a car, like just a car that's going to finish last and be like, hey, listen, with 50 to go, I need you to wreck the leader. So that way at least show up on TV. And get some air time. Yeah, I'll leave you to pay the fines for that being the case in the points deduction and everything else that comes along with it. But we rambled enough on Martinsville. We of course will have plenty of great races to talk about in terms of things that we actually can learn and apply going forward as soon as the monster mile at Dover next week or whatever they're calling it. Monster miles, any New Hampshire is at Dover. I can never keep those things straight, but you're right. But before I get things confused around these parts, we tease the interview with Larry McReynolds first stage two, and there's no reason to hold back here. You know, this is the part of the program we really look forward to. Obviously, Chris, you and I tease some of the things that we learned or didn't learn last week at Martinsville. Talladega is a de facto off week for us and we handicap things. So what better way than to bring in an Alabama native that every NASCAR fan knows his resume speaks for himself, you can see him on the Fox telecast on race up during the week. You can see him on race day. You can follow him on Twitter at Larry Mac 28 and Larry. You didn't think for a second though, we were going to welcome you in here and give you softball NASCAR questions because I know you live and die with Alabama football during the fall as well. You know, when do you start to get nervous that old Kirby has passed Nick Saban by and Alabama's playing second fiddle, not just in the SEC, but in all things college football right now. You guys gotta be pretty worried down there in title town. You know, if my crimson tide can't win a national championship right now, I'm happy for Kirby smart. You know, Kirby smart is just a class act guy. He did a lot the year. He was the defensive coordinator for the crimson Todd. And I got so much respect and admiration for him. Yeah, it's a little bit. It's a little bit tough pill to swallow. I don't mind saying, but at least we're keeping that national championship trophy in the SEC. Of course, the way we're going, give it a few more years, I think, Oregon is going to be in the SEC. The SEC will be nationwide. But yeah, it's been going through a little rebuilding. I mean, my gosh, you look at this last year, we lost two football games, and they were, I think, both of them either on the last player or the next to last play of the game by a total of what, four or 5 points combined. So, you know, I guess when you're disheartened about that, you really don't have a lot to be disheartened about. Yeah, it's pretty wild when the gold standard becomes winning national championships and the fan base is crestfallen because you lose on a last second field goal. At nyland stadium under the bright lights there and then O'Brien gets the best of them. So things will be just fine. We know the recruiting class that Nick brought in, so I'm pretty sure you'll be just A-okay in the fall when we see Alabama out there on the football field again, but all right, let's get into some of the NASCAR stuff and thrilled to get you on. Looking forward to talking to you. But before we get into some of the brass tacks, the X's and O's, you're obviously synonymous with nicknames in and around NASCAR. America's crew chief, we know is the affectionate moniker that everyone at first you buy the four mister feel goods that we like to see some of these drivers put on. Larry's trends, Larry's Mac nuggets, everything else.

"Stay green. The NASCAR betting podcast. Here are your hosts. Todd fuhrman and racing analyst Chris wormy. Welcome into the stay green podcast. I bet the board production part of the one tree podcast network and boy do we have an outstanding show for you. A little bit unorthodox though is loyal staggering listeners have grown accustomed to us going stage one. Stage two and stage three with traditional breakdowns in terms of reviewing the race we saw last will of course have that, but for stage two today we have an outstanding interview and it went a hell of a lot longer than we anticipated with one of the best names in NASCAR. Larry McReynolds extremely generous and gracious with his time and stage three. Well, spoiler alert here. Chris and I are going to tell you why we don't like to bet Talladega, but that won't stop us from sharing a best bet. I'm your host Todd Furman joined as always by my steamed racing colleague and analyst Chris wormy. And worms are great interview we recorded earlier with Larry Mack. I can't wait to share it in stage two with all of our loyal listeners. Oh, it's awesome. I mean, I respect Larry's opinion as much as anybody. So it was really cool to kind of interact with him. Someone that we've seen on TV and someone who I've heated his advice multiple times during races and it's helped make me money. So it was just really cool to have someone that hate on some of the other people we've had. But Larry Mac is a really, really cool person to kind of interact with. And obviously, like you said, right before we start the show, he's forgotten more than we'll ever know about the sport of NASA. You know, it's a lot of fun to have mine. Exactly. It's such a different perspective. And we look at some of the guests that we've had already on the show. I mean, Danielle trotta has been in and around the sport as an analyst and a host on TV for years. I mean, bob podcast, his reputation speaks for himself as a journalist and how much he knows about the sport. And the inner workings of things. Of course, Brian Murphy right there getting dirt under his fingernails on the front line at Stewart Haas racing Regan Smith who spent time winning races at the top level in Xfinity. And here we finally have a crew chief. So the next step worm is we're going to have to get a team owner on in some capacity and I know we're aggressively pushing for that. So if any race fans out there do have access to team owners and current drivers by all means pass along their contact info we're happy to give them a little bit of airtime. Yeah, I'd love to have an owner on obviously we have one in mind that we think would be would be great for our listeners and especially for kind of the future of the sport. So hopefully we can kind of make that happen slowly but surely. Either way, man, Larry Mac was awesome. And great to have it. And we will get to that interview in a few, but as we always do for stage one, a brief recap of what we learned or maybe what we didn't learn this past weekend at Martinsville. And I'll be honest, watch that race in its entirety all 400 laps went back and watched it on one and a half times speed later that night. And I still sit here in the middle of the following week and couldn't tell you what cars were good, what cars were bad because I'm convinced we could have taken a car out of your garage, put it out there and clean air and there's a good chance that you could have let 300 laps yourself. Yeah, I put that out as a Twitter poll. Who is the best car? And not out of spite, like we didn't have Lars and it was just one of those things where Larson just kind of had the right strategy at the end. If you look throughout the race, there was a point when I thought Alex Bowman was going to win by 5 seconds. And so did other crew chiefs as well. They were very worried about the 48. There was other times when I was like, well, this is Denny's race. He's finally in control. And then it was Harvick's race. He's finally in control. And then you have someone like Joey Logano, who had a terrible car, end up finishing in that finishing second. So it was an up and down day. I thought chase Briscoe at times was really good. It was nice to see Stewart Haas out there leading a lot of laps at one point Ryan priest was great. It was a 400 lap race, but I would say that depending on what lap you were watching, another driver had the best car on track at that point. And that was the whole thing. I mean, the one issue is we kind of get to the quarter pole this year. We've seen passes a little deeper in the field. We can be critical of what we've seen at short track so far this season. But the one challenge that feels like it's been consistent, unless you're on a different strategy or you're going about things in a different manner when it comes to your tires. Like we aren't seeing green flag passes for the lead. So you better be sharp in terms of getting to your pits. You better make sure you get in and out of those pit stops in ten seconds flat and make sure that you're on the optimal strategy because the margins for air right now and the second year of the next gen car absolutely narrow and it's not like the other series where you can make up all those valuable positions on ice. It's that time of year again where every game counts where he split second propels a player to stardom, where the childhood dream of draining the last second shot to win it becomes

What's Happening With Peru's Contentious Election
"Talk to me. What happened in the last couple of weeks like so people there. There's a lot of people don't even know what happened in federal with the election. Can you just break down the facts of what happened in the last couple of weeks. Yeah sure so. In june six petrol kostya won the presidential elections in peru. And this as you said his historical never before a casino a peasant. I ruled schoolteacher. A union leader has become the president of peru so casteel also defeated the right wing forces that tried to overturn electoral results that gave casteel dispensary. This is what happened in in the past few weeks so this righ-wing forces including the leads us donald trump's playbook they opposition candidate. Her name is geico for giamatti daughter of former dictator. Fujimori cried fraud with no basis with no evidence in fortunately after a big legal fide more than a month after the elections to place. Castilla was proclaimed precedent earned. From what i understand. I mean gusty people say like oh he's just coming out of nowhere. I mean he does have some political experience right. He organized in education. From what i read right. I mean he didn't just literally come from the air. You know what. I mean like he. He has been involved in some form of organizing in the past correct. Yeah that's correct so casteel was the leader of a teachers strike in two thousand seventeen. Nevertheless it's true that his victory wasn't inspected by deleting peru and of course the righ-wing is not satisfied. And they they still want to get rid of castilla. Say try to during the past few weeks so casteel socialist and he keeps also has indigenous origins so peru's extremely racist country ran as i said historically by the elite school leaf in the capital city in that are mostly white. So right now. Several members of congress are talking about organizing an impeachment process against steel. So so i'm saying this in order to to give you an idea. How much rejection from the elites in the wind castillo is receiving

Warren Buffett & Charlie Munger: Taking the High Road

We are strong minded in that time. The pair have built berkshires. Unique portfolio companies brands like the nsf. Railway geico duracell see's candies and basically left them alone. The way to get a good partner was to be a good partner and these are very effective ideas and they just work so fabulously well and they worked so well at berkshire. I caught up with squawk box. Anchor becky quick. Hi how are you. I'm good how are you over. Zoom about the buffett. Munger magic neither one of them ever really wanted to work for bosses or have a boss or work in corporate culture. They both said that they wouldn't survive it. They'd get fired. And i think that's why berkshire is the way that it is. They like to let people have their autonomy. They like to let the. They've got more than sixty businesses that they own outright and they let the managers run those businesses for a company that is now one of the ten biggest companies in the world by market capitalization. It's an incredibly decentralized organization. I mean there's twenty five people at the headquarters in omaha which by the way they don't even have a building that they run their corporate headquarters out of they. They lease a couple of floors from somebody else. And that's where the whole thing's run run from. If i were to tell you the details of this you'd think it was a scam. You know that. VOICE Global 2021
Understanding User Intent with Openstream's Raj Tumuluri
"We're trying to see how we can understand what the users to intent our goal is as opposed to just literally following what. The user is asking the guessing point. Let's take the case of a health insurance company offering this this kind of an assistant what you tend to their members so the member could could be interested in knowing whether there are are there any court centers nearby so the literal answer for that would be yes that off a note that should really satisfy the constraint and maybe a slightly better You know what would say. They're not three which three geico does nearby ensure them probably on the map but nothing beyond that but if you go beyond that in understand true goal of the end user as to why they asked this question what we call as goal based i log model so optique scientists is actually dr phil cohen. Since you mentioned city he was the original one that that helped write the city from with adam shot and he is so out of bag on the foundation so strong in that space so we are on to the next level which is goal based dialogue engine. So when you ask this question so we kind of understand the plan of the user. The battle of the user is not to merely know Percents nearby but rather like to probably go there and get tested so when that is the case you have to be a good watch losses to insured basically understand okay to find out which ones are closest and then try to find out more information about them whether the renew obstacles in executing the plan of the end user for example if the it could simply say that there are three close by the nearest one is one way but that doesn't have any appointments but the next one these twenty minutes a day and that take walk ins. Shall i get actions for that. And that would be a really powerful thing and this you should be able to do the script fashion. We are not playing to cord and like most other people do are just follow Prompts so that this has an approach and then when you apply that to since pledged up on the insurance domain the policy documents other things tend to be really complex and they're kind of Oftentimes they're legally binding so a lot of language. Therefore you know is is not something that is easy for a common man understand. Why a lot of information could be presenting those documents. You still have to call the are calling your health healthcare payer to get an approval for for the next procedure or next bragged that you're trying to play take or you want to find out why your claim is Declined or your naoko. Claim of property claim in trying to find out what. Your limits are You know whether the whether you have got the plane processed so all these things Required knowledge of knowledge and relationships among various entities present in these documents so one should be able to glean from that The information and and kind of pro dancers To to the end users without requiring in law data staff to sit there and write a lot of ccording to expect these documents so we tied to automate that process

What Fresh Hell: Laughing in the Face of Motherhood
Moms Are Not Okay
"The new york times did an article. It was more. What was it. It was like a series of articles. It was yes see peace. I guess they call it. America's mothers are in crisis and it has like sort of six articles underneath one umbrella. I'll put the link in the show notes. Yeah and i thought it was interesting and it captured a lot of the stuff that we're hearing. Oh before we do that though. I want to say one other thing. Someone else talked about. Which i think is another part of this frustration. That like she's living this crazy pandemic life and her neighbors just came back from disneyworld Like there's also that whole aspect where it's like we are in this cocoon of our house traps together for a year and then on facebook. There's like friends of ours bars and we're just like we what is life. It's like all the tent poles of sanity have been pulled up and we're just kind of flailing we'll let me tell you it's really hard about that. Is you know speaking from experience or somebody close to me that the people who are going to disneyworld seemed to be fine and the people who are staying home and doing nothing like you know went to the corner wants and geico vet like covert isn't being fair on who decides to track down if you feel me yes and that is for sure and i know you realize this a completely anecdotal like experience that you're having which is not actually true like yes. People are getting cova at disneyworld and getting it. You know by trying to go to school right. That's right. It happens to all of us but the sensation when you see only the pictures of like people on vacation is like wait. Why am i in hell and these other people are like flittering around you know and it's just mentally really difficult and the new york times article focuses specifically on working moms which is another whole aspect of this. Ps all working moms hashtag. We are all working but this is like with the boss. Yes moms who work outside the home and now inside the home. That's the problem is responsibilities to a third party yet right. You're trying to work from home. And i mean it was illuminating. Hadn't really thought about one of the women is like a counselor and she's trying to have meaningful conversations with people and our kids like running around in the background. Like i mean we have you guys have heard sometimes on this podcast like one of my kids will open the door and the background i mean like what am i need but i run a parenting. Podcast just go. I'm home and my kids are here. You hear them. Yes but there's a lot of jobs really the stress of you can't have your kid in. The background is really profound. There's one picture. And i guess i'll put this in the show notes as well. The linked to the pictures you guys can see it. 'cause i seen it all over facebook. There's one photo split screen of a mom wiping toddlers but while in the next room. The dad is sitting calmly on a conference call and the mom is also on a work. Call right but it's the mom that is wiping the taller spot. While she's like trying to close a deal and the other parent is in the other room getting to act as if the pandemic doesn't exist and what bothered me about this article looking at it with any angry visit. This was very much. Phrased is a mother's problem which it is not a parental problem. Right guys problem that the toddlers at home and needs his butt wipe during a conference call because the mama handle it and this is something we've talked about a lot. And i mean we my husband and i had come to jesus moment about this at some point fairly early on which was i mean. My job is much more flexible than my husband's job. And my husband is also the primary breadwinner household right and also less lucrative right right so there are some natural kind of. What's the word like inertia things that happened. There which is like i am more available and able and his job is not quite so like a kid screaming in the background. Sorry i don't know what he's done but he's on calls with people with money already. He's tried to get it. You know whatever he's doing right. And so i understand this parameters. But i did say early on to him. Your work and his work has been understanding. Thank god some people's aren't but i said you're working needs to understand that it is not my job to create an atmosphere where the pandemic is not happening so you can continue to work as if the pandemic is not happening and i have to like as my mom would say stand on my head spit wooden nickels to make sure that everything stays peaceful in your office environment. It's not realistic. And it's not going to

What they're saying: Philadelphia Eagles, Wentz or other teams — who has the leverage?
"All about away. Bought away by the way. The miami dolphins got their guy. I just meant they got us. That dude is they got a guy young guy so let's put some. what are we talking about. Let's put the question. Then this way. And by the way i would say this right now to are coordinating producer. Pete mcconville and our producer. Allie grenade. i don't understand how we do not yet have a feature called jeff saturday. Who's high this week. I mean every week jeff. Hester name that's got to become a tuesday stable. Is this week. We make a segment out of everything on this show but markets very quickly. If the dolphins get forgetting about guam if the dolphins get to shawn watson are they the biggest threat to kansas city in the afc next year. Yeah they are. And i know i say that because i saw were buffalo did. But i'm taking the sean before. I take josh allen and their defense. I'm taking miami. Defense with the sean. Look the inspire football. You play when you have a guy at that position that you know you can't win wit. It takes it to a different level. I love how floor is coaching. But i do think that sometimes going in and out with fits magic and into mayor. Put this team in kabul unknown territory. About what their identity was offensively and the defense never had a question. About what their identity. Would you bring this on. You answer that question. That's our quarterback. Raise the level of play of everybody around you. Oh and yeah let me tell you why. Because he threw for the most yards went out of number one receive on team this year. That's how good he is. Listen this is a no brainer. I would love to see desha watson and josh allen go toe-to-toe for years to come in that division and see who can make it out and then get the kansas city potentially in the afc championship bottom line in miami. They've been trying to find the next dan marino for twenty years. They thought maybe you're still may have him into a tunga vilo but shawn watson is as much more. A known commodity will see if that plays out. Meanwhile quarterback rumors are everywhere including these that the eagles wanna move carson wentz. We know that. What kind of market are they. Finding darlington has the very latest. It could be very interesting. Plus lebron james having another mvp caliber season. You'll hear why jay williams thinks he should win the academy award as well. That's on the way this is get up on. Espn do you own. Read your home share. You and i bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com. Get a quote and see how much you could save. Its gyco easy visit. Geico dot com. Today that's geico dot com on. We go get up. And another of the quarterback trade sagas continues this one involving that main carson wentz whom league sources believe is on the way out of philadelphia and the eagles may also explore options with his longtime tight. Ends zach ertz. Perhaps philly could include ertz in a wentz package to maximize trade value. Words has one year and eight point. Two five million dollars left on his contract it look. There's a whole lot of speculation in jeff darlington insider here. I'll start with you as to why no deal has been worked out with wentz yet and one of the ways that i look at it from afar is maybe eagles. Just overestimate what it is. People might be willing to give up for wentz at this point when you consider the contract that he has. It's essentially the same circumstance as jared goff in los angeles and the rams had to pay a team to take him off their hands. So is that how similar or those situations and could that be. What's holding this thing up. Well very possible. Greedy speaking with a source with the eagles who certainly understand everything. That's going on with this deal. And you know the one thing that he said. I said what's the holdup here in his answers february sixteenth. Today lear doesn't even start for another month by a bunch of exclamation points and there is something certainly to that. March nineteenth is the date that they'd have to decide on paying him. That ten million dollar rostov on this. This is the runway that they're working with now. Of course you do want to make sure that you make the most of your leverage multiple teams involved. You don't wanna lose one of those teams and then Maybe cost yourself some compensation from that other team but we can point out here that This this source also told me that there is no no trade clause in carson wentz deal so it doesn't really matter say he wants to go to the colts but they're getting more compensation from the bears. They could just send him to the bears. It wouldn't be a problem

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Also for the first issue is the rush has compatibility with the pen doesn't come with an issue. Then you buy one separately or you can use pen from your note or galaxy tablets. That are really kind for the pen. And you can buy case that has slept with. The pennington obviously has improved processor as well now has a five nanometer process which is the smallest current design processes of apple coming out with a three nanometer process later this year and the top of the line sense. On s twenty-one ultra only comes in five twelve gigabytes of storage but sixteen gigabytes iran. Which is truly incredible. I think the top of the line iphone early has six gigabytes of ram. But of course apple is very good at making you tired when it doesn't need memory but one thing that samsung did do was got rid of the este card slot microscopic cutthroat which is annoyed. A lot of people who lacked have five twelve geico one terabyte interesting qods in their phones to stall photos and videos and also even though samsung mocked apple including a charge. But in addition to what you do because really a podcast is branding you as a host sank the biggest challenge with anybody his going out there and finding the time to do it, and that's the toughest thing I have with my clients in the social media world and the music business world, and the entertainment world is everybody finding the time to do the marketing if you do your work ahead of. Time in addition to all the work, you've got to do to put your podcast together. The marketing has got to be I don't want to say just as important, but it's got to be important as well. So whether you're using great tools to get it out there on all of the social media sites on all the aggregate is yet to let people know what's out there. The one thing I learned in radio is everybody gravitates toward something differently one promotional message won't reach everybody. So if you hit them with. The same content sold in three or four different ways it can help you. It's much like the theory that Geico has when they use their commercials, you've got some flow commercials. You've got some celebrity commercials. You've got your camel commercials. You've got the guy who guesses aspire agent whose mother calls him about the squirrels they've got a bunch of different ways to get their message out by their insurance. Will you've got almost do the same thing when you're promoting your podcast, you gotta find different ways unique ways to promote. A each and every day multiple times a day without wearing your audience out to be able to get out there number want them to listen and number two more importantly get them to help share your content. So more and more people will listen I'm really excited to utilize audio bursts help promote my podcast even further it was something I was introduced to through my podcast hosting, which is through blueberry when they decided to allow us to start using audio burst to promote podcast instead of the in house tools they. Had which were always a problem. Now, it gives me the ability to do the bursts whether it's just an audio burst or whether it's a video burst and I actually utilize my video burst every day. I basically, take my daily podcast in my case and create a video burst out of it, throw it up on Youtube and I'm getting more and more hits because some people want to utilize the content there to me it's just the static video bursts that get the most use out of our utilize it every. Night on twitter after already posted telling people to go to my podcast each and every day I haven't really done much yet with transcriptions. But I think as the AI improves, I want to utilize the transcriptions each and every day. I. Think the greatest challenge each and every one of us has is to find new and unique and different ways to promote our content. Of course, I'm different because I literally have new podcast every day. So I'm not promoting one podcast for a week or two weeks or a month. I'm literally promoting something new both good and bad. But what I love about audio burst is it gives me a variety of tools and able to go in every day take my podcast off the feed and create a different little promotional burst. If you will. The Sky is the limit right now and I'm just getting started having only been there for about a month I can't wait to see where audio burst grows and more importantly the tools they're offering us to create better content and help promote our podcast even. Better, plus it also helps us build a community amongst podcasters were all hosted on different sites in different places and all across the world and being able to get together and share our content with each other people who understand how difficult it is to create content every day you gotta sound good it's gotTa. Look good and it's all going to be working to build an audience and there's some great podcasters out there I think that's our goal for each and every one of us has to be a great podcast.

Podcaster Kevin Mason biggest marketing challenge
"I think marketing podcast or any product for that matter is the greatest challenge any was face today. With podcasting, number one is about " How are you going to get it out to the people?". Getting on his many aggregates as you can whether it's on apple whether it's on stitcher whether it's on the new Amazon platform the new Google Platform whatever it is, you gotta make sure number one your podcast is visible and found all those sites you gotta keep it up to date and make sure to go through all of your content to make sure it's formatted properly to make sure it looks good and that's more important because people are gonna look at that little thumbnail on apple or Spotify or Amazon, or Google or wherever it is, and they're gonna look at that picture. So the important part is getting that thumbnail right, having your written work done as well whether it's the short description of the show, the description of the podcast as a whole that's also very important. Tesla Daily: Tesla News & Analysis
First Berlin Production Equipment, New Largest Supercharger Location, Daimler Emissions
"Our here, and today we have a super charger network update, which is nice. Little throwback for those of you that have listened to the podcast for a long time I used to do those every day at the start of the podcast. We also have some news on Berlin paint a small little updates slash rumor. I would call it on Battery Day and the news on Daimler Nikola Motor as. Well. Tesla stock with another really strong day to day even though it was relatively quiet news wise finishing up seven point two percent to four hundred and forty nine dollars seventy six sense that compared to the Nasdaq up one point two percent we'll start off with these super charger news. This is coming from Brian Mac se on twitter, who is a long-time listener and I believe Patriot supporter of. The podcast who happen to come across a super charger network location under construction near Firebaugh California. As far as I can tell, this location had not yet been noticed. So upon Brian tweeting these out Tesla Motors Club Forum members did some digging on this and they were actually able to find that the permit for the site as well as planning documents for sort of a conglomerate travel center at. This location those documents disclosed that Tessa. We'll have fifty six spots for Tesla charging at this travel center. Assuming each of those spaces has a super charger associated with it. fifty-six chargers would put this as the largest superchargers location in North America and possibly in the world surpassing cattleman city in the United States at forty chargers and believe in China, there are a couple locations that have fifty chargers. So. Pretty exciting this location is between San Francisco and La driven miles. It's about two hundred and thirty miles from La and about one hundred and fifty from San Francisco. It's not clear if these will be all version three superchargers but I'd have to imagine that they would be and as far as other features go. It looks like about two thirds of them thirty eight of the fifty six. will be pull through hopefully accommodating the use of a trailer and making things a bit easier for the cyber truck and potentially also accommodating the semi of course, cincy unveil of the semi. We haven't heard much more about Tesla's mega charger plans. So hopefully, we get a bit of an update on that during battery debt. Right next today is an update on Gigabytes Lynn gigafactory underscore four on twitter. Has Been following. The gigafactory development closely looks like some equipment has started to arrive, and some of that equipment carries branding for Geico Tikey Shah? which is a paintshop solutions provider based in Milan Italy. There's also some signing there that is co branded between that company and desolate GEICO take show describes their approach by saying quote innovation is our weapon of choice were constantly increasing the technological possibilities in. Order to meet the needs of the most demanding customers in a highly competitive sector and quote they also seem to be heavily focused on sustainability and they're their paintshop operations. They have a project called the party's project, and they say quote with the Party's project launched in two thousand, five Geico Kotecki show was the world's first company to offer zero environmental impact paintshop reducing consumption by seventy percent and. So. Without really knowing much more about the company does he pretty good fit for Tesla we know Tesla has pretty big aspirations with the shop and gigabyte Lin Yuan talked about it many times and even setting Matt aside, it's good to start to see some production equipment on the grounds of Giga Berlian and though I haven't seen it yet. Maybe this gives us another milestone to compare the progress with Giga Shanghai from what I can. Tell, it looks like paintshop equipment started being put in place at Giga. Shanghai. In early to mid August of two thousand, nineteen with production of course, then starting about four months later. So if that's the case, if Berlin falls a similar time line that could potentially project out to start production and January probably best to keep expectations for later than that but I do think it's helpful to keep an eye on how those timelines compare all Right next up today is something that could end up being completely nothing but I thought it was at least interesting enough to share earlier today Fred Lammert over at electric tweeted out a couple of images of him holding a pretty significantly sized battery cell and Fred Ask if anyone has seen this battery cell before or you have some information about them, please reach out to him. A says also by the way, this new cell May. Or may not have been made by Tesla I don't really have much speculation to add this. A couple of people on twitter were saying that it does look like a tablets design which we've talked about and past episodes. But really just pointing out to say could be something to keep an eye out for the next couple of days if electric is able to you dig up a little bit more information on whatever this ends up being. Last couple of pieces of news here. Today I on Daimler Daimler has reached a settlement with the US government to pay one and a half billion dollars and settlements and penalties to the US and California State to resolve allegations of Daimler using emissions test cheating software to conceal the actual emissions from vehicles even with the settlement, and despite the fact that engineers at the EPA found software designed to cheat the emissions tests. Damore denies wrongdoing saying quote as stated in the consent degrees the. Class Action Settlement the company denies the authorities allegations as well as the class action plaintiffs claims and does not admit any liability to the United States. California plaintiffs or otherwise and quote. So I don't know kind of disappointing to see a settlement of that nature that doesn't require the admission of fault with such seemingly strong evidence against Daimler right lasting today is a quick update on Nikola Motors. It sounds like from the comments yesterday that most of you preferred that I don't do significantly. Deep dive on this budget stick to the high level updates, which I'm totally fine with if Trevor Milton wanted to come back on the PODCAST, I would probably do that. Otherwise, we'll stick with these updates anyway today the Wall Street Journal and other outlets are reporting that the Justice Department has started to also investigate Nikola Motors due to the allegations that they had misled investors by making exaggerated claims about their technology I know that sounds similar to

The ECBs Former Vice-President Explains The Historic Step That Europe Just Took
"True CEOS thinking we don't really talk that much about Europe these days. I mean, I guess not in relation to the the heady days of the eurozone debt crisis. Now we don't, but also I feel like this particular crisis at least some of our episodes, you know, obviously, we talk a lot in the bed context the US context, of course, know talked about Hong Kong and Asia and Asia supply chains in China and so forth stills like we've focused a little bit less on how this current crisis is playing out in the Europe. Yeah I think that's right I. Guess the implication is that maybe this has been unfair in some respects because there has actually been something very interesting going on in Europe at the moment. Yeah. I mean, for one thing you know there's a good argument to be made Europe at least relative to the US, if not necessarily Asian countries has done a pretty decent job overall of suppressing the virus self and you know for years during the euro area crisis, they're always people fiscal policy. Fiscal Policy Missing. You gotta spend more gotTa get the Germans to spend more and you know maybe this time it looks like they're actually doing. Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. So we have the announcement of a big deal seven, hundred, fifty, billion euros worth by the EU to fund on long term recovery. Fund for the Eurozone and that's a big deal because as you point out, everyone's been talking about fiscal stimulus but it looks like the euro-zone is finally going ahead and doing it. Right and so this of course raises questions and it's a theme that we've definitely had a lot on on our podcast, which is, is this offer something bigger for the post-crisis period? So sports, it's well known that know there's a lot of money being spent by governments all around the world including the US. But the question mark is okay when the crisis phase is over the government's just retrench or does this become a sort of new macroeconomic stabilization model? That's a theme that we've had dozens of times but it's particularly important to New York, in context I think because people have sort of identified the lack of fiscal burden sharing his sort of a basic architectural tension or flaw within. Euros. Yeah I think that's exactly right. How does the I don't want to say the intrusion of fiscal stimulus but how does the arrival of fiscal stimulus on the scene actually reshape the way that monetary policy works and I? Guess we should also mention that the is also in the midst of a of another really important project which is rethinking. How it targets inflation. So we have all of this going on simultaneously real existential questions for the role of the European Central Bank. Absolutely well, I'm very excited. We have a fantastic guest to talk about all of this we are going to be talking with Vito comes don. So he is the former vice president of the European Central Bank from two thousand, Ten may twenty eighteen. He's now a professor at Navarra University in Madrid out the perfect guest to discuss all this. So without further ado, let's bring him in a veto. Thank you very much for joining us. So are you happy to not being a policymaker in this time or you? Do Miss being at the ECB during such an extraordinary moment. Well, it's always difficult to get out of you know executive responsibilities and I. Of course, I would not say that I, am Epi at the out or unfortunate circumstances of the covy. The shock we are again in a very important periods of policy making but. Me Europe as been doing well I think in these episodes. Better than in the previous episode of two, thousand. Ten to two thousand twelve. Just to start out with walking the significance of the deal that was agreed, this seven, hundred, hundred, billion euros you tweeted about it clearly, you think it's important. What's the significance. Well it establishes for president that are very meaningful. In, the first place it involves a decision to issue common European depth. The Commission will issue seven hundred and fifty billion of debt to fund these program, and that's the first. The second the point is that these is going to be distributed in the form of budget transfers and not loans to the country's. Third IT'S A big program to implement Wat- is a European fiscal policy stimulus to address a recessionary phase. India to be an economy, and that's also the first time that these happens at this level and fourth the distribution of the ballot transfers which. Correspond to a little more than half of the seven hundred and fifty billion is done in a way that it is not proportional to the size of each country. By two indeed benefits more the countries that's have lower level of leaving and higher unemployment. So there is a convergence play. There is solidarity aspect of these edits also quite new in terms of transfers to give you two examples on a proportional basis, Italy would be entitled to fifty billion, but the they are getting eighty billion. Right as Germany, you'll be entitled to ninety six billion in proportional terms, but is getting only twenty seven. So these four points put together constitute the indeed very important precedents and babs, and do we all hope so that it will be a sign of things to happen. If again, there will be a stressful situation in the European economy, and that's a very important element for everyone the notion that when there is a very stressful social economic situation Europe, steps up and two x decisions to fight the recession and does not leave behind any of the member countries. It's a big message for the future and I think markets are really beginning to injury injuries what these means And we see that already but it will take time of course, perhaps for the markets by Geico anglo-saxon markets to overcome. Lingering, doubts about the European project.

Noose found in Bubba Wallace's garage stall, NASCAR says
"Now? Mike Greenberg Bristol with you this morning. And as I said right off the top of the show, I would have loved to have started with any of those today, and we certainly will get to the mall, but we begin with an absolutely despicable story coming from the world of NASCAR. In this developing story, a noose was found in bubba Wallace's. Stall at the NASCAR race in Talladega Alabama yesterday less than two weeks after Wallace led efforts to push NASCAR to ban the confederate flag NASCAR announced the news last night well after the race had been postponed due to inclement weather, and said it was launching an immediate investigation here. was there statement late this afternoon? Nascar was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the forty three eighteen. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough. How seriously we take this heinous act! We have launched an immediate investigation and we'll do everything we can to identify the persons responsible and eliminate them from the sport. As we have stated unequivocally, there is no place for racism and NASCAR, and this act only strengthens our resolve to make the sport open and welcoming to all while himself tweeted a statement last night, which read in. In part today's despicable act of racism and hatred leaves me incredibly saddened, and serves as a painful reminder of how much further we have to go as a society and how persistent we must be in the fight against racism. As my mother told me today, they are just trying to scare you. This will not break me. I will not give enor- rely back down. I will continue to proudly stand for what I believe. In Allah Marty Smith is covering this for us in the scene in Talladega. He joined us an hour ago. The News in Bubbas garage stall was actually seen by a member of his team. Darrell Bubba never saw it. He never saw it personally and win. That team members saw it. He alerted NASCAR. And Nascar immediately had a meeting of its senior executive staff, and they made the decision that they were going to remove this person from the sport as quickly and rapidly as possible. This was not a situation where a fan might have meandered in on this because there were no fans in the garage. So what you're looking at is you're looking at team members. You're looking at officials. You're looking at potential security. You're looking at maybe cleaning personnel that have access to these garage areas. Again! That was Marty Smith with US earlier. Lebron James among many who posted messages about this. He tweeted sickening Wallace, my brother! No, you don't stand alone I'm right here with you as well as every other athlete, I just want to continue to say how proud I am of you for continuing to take a stand for change here in America and sports at Nascar. I salute you as well. Well Sprint Cup driver Michael McDowell added. God help us the level of evil. It takes to do something like this is disgusting. This is enraging and heartbreaking all at the same time Dale. EARNHARDT Jr. tweeted simply a hope of a wins it tomorrow again. The race will be run today. It was delayed by weather yesterday, and as I bring Steven A. and Marcus into the conversation here I'll. Repeat that the area in which this was discovered, there were cameras all over it should be. Relatively easy investigation for the NASCAR officials to conduct, and we are standing by for any information live from Talladega Marty Smith will bring us anything as soon as there is any further news with that thought in mind, Stephen. We've not yet had a chance to say good morning to you I. I just want to give you the floor here. What are your feelings and thoughts as we see this story developed from last night? Well I. Mean I think that for me? Personally I'm a little bit different than the kind of sentiments that have been expressed by a lot of people, because obviously you find this reprehensible and disgusting, and it's incredibly sad, and we get all of that but there's a forgive the the figurative smirk that might end up covering my face or draping my face because to me. Me It's just folks displaying the ignorance, and the more they put it on display, the more it enlightens a lot of people in White. America about what Black America has been telling them about for so many years decades spanning centuries for crying out loud. This is not new. This is something that we've known existed for all time. This is something we know we'll continue to exist. And there is no way around it and so this there comes a point in time where you have to accept that reality one of the things that I would encourage everybody to go watch. If you get an opportunity, you can go on Netflix. You can watch that documentary thirteen by EVA do vernay along with others, sensational job of address mass incarceration in the United States, of America one of the things they highlighted. Is that under the Nixon? Administration where you're literally talking about you know White folks that are hippies and you associate them with marijuana and you associate black. Black folks with crack cocaine, and as a result of that will ultimately galvanize folks in your favor, because they'd be scared to death, and you'd be hearing words like law and order ad, nauseam that was in the sixties for crying out loud in two thousand and twenty, and we're hearing the same thing now. You just have to open your eyes. You have to pay attention to the parallels you have to. You have to pay attention to the correspondence. That's taking place right before your very eyes throughout history, we have had people that have been adroit at light laying low. Controlling the narrative, manipulating the narrative switching things to their favor, all in an effort to maintain or to retain power. It's something to kind of thing that has been taking place in. Usually they've been incredibly skilled at remaining in the dark and saying it's then it's not us, it's them. It's not us well guess what are coming to light more and more in this day and age I find that a cause for celebration, not a 'cause. You know to be saddened by anything. The I find these to be. Beautiful tops as difficult as it may be the fact that I nation appears to be becoming more enlightened than ever before and ultimately as a result. We're coming together. I find that to be a huge plus not a minus. If the ignorance has to show itself, and if the ignore, it has to showcase themselves in order for this to happen coming out of the dock to me. That's of course was celebration Marcus. Stephen. That's what I alluded to earlier man just come on out. Show us who you are, so we know how to deal with you and everybody. That's four. Right knows how to deal with you. Look listen, this is. There has been. We've been having this conversation for a long time. I mean we had this conversation we had. This conversation went capped kneeled about police brutality. We talked about racing all of them and man you. You look if you look around and social. There were people literally Oh twitter last night. Say A BUBBLE! Did this for attention? What what are you talking about like? It's not. It's not unfathomable that someone could do that. We sold Jesse's me. Make reference to that because people can conjure up things to create narratives to make people overreact. That's why saying earlier. Estimate I'm not doing this emotional. Rollercoaster I'm getting off of it right like I'm nuts and bolts to was going on. There is progress that needs to be made in this country I'm focusing on that progress that needs to be made. That's what bubble wireless is focused in on a by making his statements in Nascar. That's a lot of athletes are focused on a lot of people in society in general of focused on making sure that we draw a line between racist people and people that one good for everybody. That's the bottom line. Look for as much as this is egregious and the things that have transpired for low type. I grew up in the south light. It's not. An uncommon for me to see racist people are know what it looks like or even even be surprised or shocked about certain things that tend to happen. The bottom line is this. I'm often emotional roller coaster like if you racist just be that come out publicly and be that enlist separate that and you be a part of the minority port society that we want to get to, and we think we already are at so all of that being said I'm with Steve Day like in this bringing a lot of people to the light, and the hateful ones are fighting their battle because they see slipping away. Score you're not GonNa hear me say this very very often, but I wanNA give major major kudos to a Lotta. White folks out there in America because if it wasn't for them, protesting and marching with black individuals if it wasn't for them, you know engaging in the kind of of of you know resistance to whatever level of oppression we as black people have been feeling this nation I. Don't think some of these folks will. will be coming out I. mean listen the back. In the day. They used to wear the sheets and used to cover the identity and their faces that we didn't know who the hell they were by virtue of that now. Some black people, a lot of black people will tell you they exist in corporate America. They could be the very people that you're working for the very people that you're talking to I happen to be. Be Blessed we happen to be blessed to not certainly not have that at this company is because we've seen the actions on the part of our executives. And what have you over continuous basis? Elevated level of sensitivity that this place has shown throughout the years deserves to be commended. There's always work to do. There is no perfect place. Make no about it, but I'm incredibly proud to be a part of the Walt Disney and And specifically the ESPN family in that regard having set all of that I'm in the minority, because the reality is vast people, there's a vast number of people of African. American descent in the United States of America that feel subjugated I wouldn't go so far as to say enslaved, but feel subjugated by bosses in corporate America people that say all the right things when the cameras are rolling, but behind the scenes they engage. Eight your and the conduct. Subjugation that they devote their voiceless. They don't have a voice in that regard, green. Marcus knows exactly what I'm talking about. And so because of that because of these times that we're living, what we're seeing is a populous within the United States of America that sees the dramatic shift, and there's so appalled, and and put and taken aback by what they see transpiring that they can't hide their vitriol. They're coming out of the dock because they're being forced out of the dog. We as black people. People have to appreciate the fact that couldn't happen without a vast number of white individuals in our society standing with us and saying you know what we see where the hell you coming from. If we didn't see it before we see it now, and we're with you, so you have that other segment of the population saying wait a minute we lose some of our own here. Some of our own alternative guests and the poor in this noxious. We gotTA speak up and as a result. Of the dock again I find that a cause for celebration doesn't bother me at all. If we wore, we wore. Let's get it on. I liked that. I want to leave it there for the moment again. Marty Smith is standing by Talladega. If there is any further information on the investigation, we will have it for you immediately, meanwhile, Steven as going to stay with us here for a few more minutes, and we'll get some football conversation as we go his feelings about the Dallas, cowboys have been well documented. This should be a very big day in Dallas. We will talk about it and why and then Lebron and other NBA players have until Wednesday to decide whether or not they're going to play. What should we expect? Woge will answer that question as we continue this out. GET THEM ON ESPN. GEICO. GETS YOU ACCESS TO LICENSED AGENTS? Twenty four

Seven Generations - With Karl Dockstader (Oneida)
"Hello and welcome everyone and we're so glad to have you today. Joining me is Carl docstater and just to give you a little background on this guy he's a member of the United. Nation, and he's the program called for the four year Fellowship Center about four years ago. He and a colleague of his started a podcast called one dish one Mike, and since then it's transformed into a weekly on air radio show, and recently he. He became a recipient of Canadian Journalism Foundation CBC. Fellowship for his. Outstanding Work I've been on his show before the ever since our show started. We've communicated back and forth, and finally it's my delight to introduce this man, and on top of that all he's an avid buffalo bills fan, so I would like to give a big severely to Mr Pro docstater You're very kind to Gaydos in the youngest log into low to Jota, what's the? What can I do? GEICO Ajayi? That translates to many Ms Carl. Just kidding There's there's a lot more in there. that I I like to introduce myself with Mitch official name is often as possible because our our language is under threat. I think that using any language like even if you only know Golly, even if you only know gateway when you're saying goodbye to someone or or something similar to goodbye, or or if you're seeing Jawa, thank someone. I think that every bit of language revitalization is is important, so so thank you for for having me on your show I have a gigantic fan. If you go into the archives, you can find an episode where we interview Andrew Shannon I may podcasting Betsy Andrew and I think that it's really just forty five minutes of meat gushing lick offend will. So but but you're worth it I mean it, it's it's really be concept. Your show that that you're doing at I'm I'm glad to be on for for something. Maybe a little outside of the box of avoid normally, so they are having beats danger. It's it's outside of the box, but i. feel like when we started the show. This is more of what we wanted. It's easy to talk about dead people because if you. You get something wrong well. They're not around to defend themselves. What's really hard for me? Is from a loving history and background is a lot of times. We try as hard as we can to point out. The the members of the six nations are still around today. There's still a vibrant part of our communities. They still contribute still here at not not like two or three of them left and on our show I have to. To purposely save the holding. The schone are instead of the haughtiness. SCHONE did and a lot of times we use the past tense. I I apologize to it now. You know when you're talking about past historical events that happens a lot, but we'd like to point out all the contributions that people have made in the past, and how the influenced our history and culture and society, and so it's just good to have somebody from today. Today that can can speak for today. I know you're just one person I. Know You don't speak on behalf of all indigenous people on the continent. I know you don't speak on behalf of everyone from the Oneida nation. You probably don't speak on behalf of your family either. It's good to have other perspectives because Caleb. I realized that we're limited in our scope. I wanted to have somebody come on. That could give me an. Update, but just what is Oneida culture like today? And what are the issues that your people are facing today? And then I also WANNA. Look towards the future a lot of times we get bogged down today's issues. Today's Oracle stuff, and as this podcast is recorded as different, but I realized that years from now decades from now hopefully, when people are still listening to you and me working back through the archives that you know we can, we can look forward and see what what does the future stand? What does the to row treaty mean for both our peoples in the future going forward. So that's a long winded. Introduction, BUT I want to turn over your Harlan just give you really open ended just give me a background about yourself and your upbringing. Yeah, thank you, thank you for the opportunity again. I think that what you said is probably key at. If if you're just tuning in if tuning in because of me than you've heard me, say this before if tuning into your recoil, ledges, mystery podcasts, and you're hearing me for the. The first time I think it is important that we're hitting on that concept. The Ngoni people are are still here and I, even like like I had to check myself I was helping my daughter my my nine year old at the time ten year old daughter. Do you a project for history? And it's it's difficult to sift through the history texts and to see them. Talk about how we were as people like, say we. We are as a people like we were still doing. Ceremonies were still. I'm literally trying to grow white corn, even as we speak like I'm. I'm sitting here. Thinking created rain last night because we're not something that their lives in a textbook sitting on sitting on a shelf somewhere, that's something that we want to bring a so having opportunity to come on with you today to to really remind people that can onto says about about living. Living History. History is something we're still living right now is super cool I. one of the reasons I like to get on. This side of the microphone is is that I don't have to talk about myself, so it's it's different since since I now you're the one that's technically behind the Mike but I mean I can say is that it's What it really pride myself on is is activity in my own community. I went and I volunteered tirelessly from a friendship center work at the forgery native. Friendship Centre by day. I volunteered there before I worked there I volunteered at the other friendship center in our region, the Niagara Regional Native Center and that for everything we do is indigenous people I. Think I think it's really evaluated on a on a community level and I. think that's something that we've actively done. Is that individuals? Success is just not the metric. That's not the measurement for for who we are as. at least in in the community circles that I that I hang out so so for me. My production into community was movement called idle no more if you will see American listeners after how how familiar they'll be with that movement, but there was an effort in in two thousand, twelve, twenty, thirteen to to really got environmental measures to take away protection from wire to fundamentally changed the relationship between the government and indigenous people. In four women stood up and said that we're not going to be idle anymore. We will be idle, no more and we need to. We need to put a stop to this. And our people got behind those women and all of our people. It felt like like there was a total consensus in our community that had an off and I saw the seismic shift almost ten years ago. Where people like we have to do something so so for me, that was almost may may rebirth into community I was I was just living regular life, and you know trying to trying to hold down a good job trying to buy a house and worrying about the things that normal people. People worry about and then. I saw this groundswell of activity in our community, and it really opened. My Eyes Act that we need to work together to federal sell change
