Several my friends from belen jesuit also went to so we went as kind of like a team. I love food. I love culture. I love their certainly santa to new orleans advantages. I was there for five years. Probably one year more than should have been But you know there were some similarities to miami Different cultures and different backgrounds influenced spanish influence. French influence the tremendous amount of history in and they also had some great scholarship programs. Which you know we were able to take advantage of and their business. School was excellent They have a great because of the port system agreed international business program. "That I pretty much taken sitting on a barstool and drinking about as far as I could on an amateur basis, and that it was time for me to go go to the pros. Oh, nice. Uh, so I promised my dad, though, that I would, you know, get my degree. So I agree applied to Notre Dame every year since and apparently I am no longer Notre Dame material. It's over. It's over. Well, my degree from Rockhurst College and Kansas City, Missouri. As I said, You got your degree in economics. How did you find your way into acting? Um well, I was really just a clueless, aimless young man. Um, I think the charitable way to put it in it would be late bloomer, okay? And But after I got out of college, I, uh was getting you know a lot of what are you going to do with your life, and I had no idea. So this friend of mine? Uh oh. If you don't know what you want to do, I know what you do. I said, What's that if you go to Europe? So I, uh, worked for my dad. Some other odd jobs, got some money together and went over to Europe with a backpack and it, you know, I hate hiking, fun and At one of the upstairs, you know, off and on the better part of two years. Wow, side of the road, you know, kind of thing. And I think you can only do when you're like 23 24 sure, And, uh then I, uh, after two years of that, Uh, signed up for a second city workshops. Yeah, that's that's that's pretty cool. I mean, he made it back to Chicago and I have to ask you, you know, obviously, you know, The audition process must have been pretty interesting, because I mean, you know you're working with a lot of simplicity when it comes to second city. Yeah. Yeah, it was My first audition, uh, per second city. Uh, I've got jumped in a bar outside of sucked park with I went to a Sox game with some friends. And we thought in our wisdom, we thought we'd go into spark at 33rd and Wallace. To let traffic die down some of the local youngsters. Uh Didn't Did it. Enjoy our presence in their turf or something? I don't know. Anyway, we got jumped. So I work. Yeah, I wouldn't My second city audition was a big black. I cut over my ear and yeah, and Tech didn't work too well and the rest of your class. You know, yet you were working with Kaczynski and Miriam Flynn and Del Close. And Danny Breen. Mary Gross. I mean, you know, it's uh, nice group Gawronski again In the fall, we're doing a new player world premiere at North Light. Oh, cool. Oh, cool. You guys work together quite a bit. Now. I remember seeing you very briefly, like an episode of MASH and an episode of Taxi, But then all of a sudden boom You got the role on? Cheers. How did that all come about? Uh, Verily. Normal way of agent called and said he was on this other show called Making the Grade. Um and it was a series regular around that, but you know it only They really shot six and that was it. But The fate of making the grade hadn't been determined. So my agent said, you know, honey, the sandwiches do this show Cheers. Very small role. But you like those guys, remember, you did catch you with them and you know So I think you know you should do him a favor and show up. So secure. But I wanted to bring her back and have her talk about especially just the importance of local elections here in Colorado, which are coming up before you know it. Daniel Gawronski, Welcome to the Dan Caplis Show. Thank you. Yeah. So good to have you. What have you tell everyone what you've been up to lately? Well lately, I've just been out knocking doors talking to the voters hosting, meet and greets, just, you know, trying to be all over Aurora and talking to voters. Yeah, that's amazing. And, you know, obviously you made this decision that a lot of people don't make to run for local seats. City Council in the city you live in. And as the chairman of the Cord Republican party. We've been trying to encourage people run for these local seats jump in. Can you tell everyone why it matters? Why should they think about these local seats? Whether whether they want to run or they want to support a good person who's running Oh, for that. I would like to turn specifically to a, um, house bill that was just signed into law by Governor Polish something that people don't think about its Senate Bill 21 to 56. Basically what it says, is that Pulis is taking a hands off approach now to our gun rights, and he is turning it over to local municipalities. So your local city councils Will now determine what your gun rights are. And this law states up to damning them. Mm hmm. So if you're in Denver if you're in Boulder And you are a lawful gun owner and you enjoy your gun rights. It's a very scary place for you to be over in Aurora. We're holding on by a thread Christie or holding on by a thread, and that's why I'm in this fight. I refuse to believe that my hometown Is gone and and it's just going to turn over everything to the Socialists. I refuse to believe that it is so important that people start caring about Local elections, getting involved volunteering for candidates and knocking the worst. Absolutely, And this is this is Daniel Gawronski, who were talking to she's in Aurora City Council candidate with US on the Dan Caplis show today. And Daniel, can you I could not agree more with you that these issues are coming home to rest like we have to see that they're not just at the Capitol in Denver. They affect us on a neighborhood level at our jobs with our kids. And I mean, I think particularly one thing I think about when we talk about local gun control that could Really affect people's daily lives like what about all the women who have concealed carry permits? Because they want the ability to defend themselves if they ever needed to. I mean, what do you say to them? Well to them first and foremost, I say I'm one of you and I stand with you. I enjoy my gun, right? I'm a lawful gun owner. You know, I served six years in the military and have have gun training from that. But you know, I have acute field carry permit. And now do I carry my gun? You know, I carry it when I carry. You'll never know I period, but that's the thing I would rather have it and not need it. Did not have it and need it. And Christie this idea this idea that the government is chipping away. At our right and they're doing this methodically doing this methodically little by little as cannot cause too much of a stir, right and for everyone not paying attention, Gun Bill Yeah, that's exactly what's happening. That is why I am trying to make The noise that I am talking to Republicans talking to unaffiliated and to be perfectly honest with you even talking to some Democrats. Oh, yeah, I I firmly believe This is no longer a Republican versus Democrats, you know, walk. We are at war against communism against socialism, Marx, you name it. We are at war, and it is good versus evil. And I believe that good will prevail to those women out there, you know that conceal carry for their safety and their protection. Get involved get involved. I mean, there are moms groups. Anti gun You know that are out there making a lot of noise. One thing I found out the reason that these lunatics Keep winning because they're louder and that I stay no more no more. It's time for us to make noise and to be louder, and we're not saying Look, here's what we say, because we are the true party of choice, Although they think that they are, we are right were saying If you don't want to own a gun, don't own a gun. Oh, sure. If you don't want your time is done. Don't carry a gun. Oh, yeah. But don't you dare tread on me. Yeah, That's what we're saying. You're right. Daniel Gawronski. Aurora City Council candidate 100% with you on that, As I think most women are we want the chance to be able to defend to protect ourselves if we need to, And we certainly don't need Government full of Socialists telling us we can. And I think Danielle what's really important to as we see people right now in Cuba, waving the American flag because they understand that freedom and choice like that is an American ideal. And yet we have people who currently sit on the City Council in Aurora, who really are socialists. You don't even understand that the people you're running against who are Democrats. They don't understand that either. That's why we need people like you. And you know other Republicans who are running in local accounts, City Council races to get elected many people to get out and join them. Representative Richard Whole tour if he represents House District. 64 in Colorado, is a third generation rancher in a military veteran as well as the father of I believe four daughters. Welcome representative Holt ORF to the capital show. Thank you very much. Christy. It's a pleasure to be on the air with you. And I actually have five daughters. So wow. Alright, count. That's great. That's great. Well, well, I wanted to bring you on today. Just because there's so much talk around Colorado. You know, I'm traveling the whole state. You live in Washington County and represent a rural area of Colorado and It's really a fact that Jared Poulsen, the Democrats have Have waged a war on there are rural economies here in this state, and I just would love our listeners to hear from you since you live it every single day. Well, thank you. Christy and I represent nine counties in eastern and southeastern Colorado. It's the largest house district. Currently in the House chamber. And rural Colorado is a big footprint and I very much aware and in touch with what happened in what I call the rest of Colorado. Unlike many of my urban legislators. So some of them don't even like it when I say the rural urban divide just growing right, and it's growing by our actions and our intentions, both direct and indirect. If I just Right well, and I think that's something that Irvin, Colorado actually needs to realize is going on. Like I grew up in rural Colorado. And so I think about it a lot, even though I currently live in the city now, But I don't think a lot of our city city dwelling friends. Do you think about it as much as they should. And how would you say representative Richard Holt? Orff's who were talking to you right now? How would you say that? When rural Colorado is hurt by the policies that get passed to the capital in Denver? Why should that matter to the rest of the state? Well, I think our urban cousins need to understand. That agriculture is the life blood of rural Colorado. Everything that is agriculture in our small towns in our communities. All the services the support the primary economy outside of energy. Oil and gas right and other renewable energy sources. It's agriculture. Yeah, everything that we do is tied around agriculture, and what's important for agriculture, of course, is transportation, right? And also Bannon Internet as we analyzed fast moving markets, um and many of the things that we do out in agriculture, so the biggest thing people need to understand As you cannot. Degrade trying to do harm or damage to our agricultural sector. Yeah, and then so diaper people don't understand how diverse agriculture is true from pencil. The cattle. To poultry to watermelons. So many things in your grocery store a milk Pancakes. Buttermilk pancakes, Buckwheat pancakes. I don't care what kind of picked it like, right? So many things. I'm going to guess you have a particular favorite kind of pancakes, But I will move past that. But no, I think represented. Hold your your right that agriculture is one of the industries that built to Colorado and it continues. I mean, you and the people in your community. You're the ones that feed our families and people so easily forget that. That's why I think we need to elevate more rural voices and listen to people like you. A third generation rancher here in Colorado who understands what it means for our state when that is trampled all over by the boulder elites who run run the capital in the government right now. Yes, Christine and the one thing that highlighted the that divide more than ever. This last session was Senate Bill 21 87, this agricultural workers rights bill. It is a big city. Big union model. It just doesn't fit agriculture, Mhm and the sponsor who claimed to know a little about agriculture, But not much. I promise you right and out fuckers. Who were foolish enough to sign onto this bad legislation. Clearly. We're completely clueless. As to the diversity And the differences. Between agriculture and the agricultural industry and urban Big City factory type. Um, right. Exactly. No, I think you're so right. I think there's a lot of people from the cities he for tend to know what the agricultural industry does are the oil and gas industry to which I think many people just don't understand. And they don't realize how integral that is to the Colorado way of life. And if we triple all over the Colorado way of life, which includes farming, ranging oil and gas that is to the devastation of our entire state. Not only communities like the ones you represent I I did want to ask you. We have a couple minutes before we're gonna go to a break, But I want to ask you I know you have a big background in the military. And how do you think what you learned in the military and what you did there and you're overseas tours and all the other things you did. How How does that affect your view of how? As Republicans of the State pyramid? You are state Representative. How we fight this battle that so many Republicans and conservatives want want to see us truly engaging. Well, I will tell you that, Uh, If you want me to leverage a little bit of my military experience, I will tell you that we have to have a very, um in depth. Strategy. To fight that fight that we have at every level. We have to take a message to Urbanite urban cousins to explain to them. Um, the importance of the rest of Colorado. Yeah, And I think, um, we have to have a short term message. That we are trying. There are many eggs stakeholders that are trying Just to spread this message out, But I will tell you, the message gets ignored, and it has to be a multi layered or a very, uh in depth. Way of communicating at many levels. Yeah, so I would start with that. And I will tell you that, even in the capital this last session, the testimonies from farmers and wrecked ranchers. Was very much ignored. Oh, yeah. The Urban League. Continue to be referenced. And so, um, uh, you know, do not to get too in depth with, you know, strategic analysis or intelligence preparation, the battlefield and some of these military models that we use, right? Um, it's about messaging. And then it's the real issue is we have activist organizations. Most all of them come out of Boulder County. Our animal rights. They are vegan, their anti, um, meat, protein or animal protein, right? They are all that anti Additional American Western values. They are anti rural. Yeah. Urbanite, their elitist urbanites who don't understand where their food comes from. And the effort and time it takes it. The grocery stores filled exactly a representative Holt.
