Well, I think so. Did Rimmel Tapia on the home run by rough as they said in the first inning. High temperature, extremely low Humidity Day game here, the ball can fly. "God's been who slaps a fastball in the left field base. It coming in to score is Du Bon Duggar to third and he'll stop there. The ball got out there so quickly. Kevin Gausman docks in a run. Five. Nothing Giants. Amazing. He got a first pitch fastball, and we've seen him do this a couple times this year. He just tries to punch it into left field. And that's exactly what he did right between McKinstry and Lux. He hit it hard enough. And with the left fielder playing shallow enough, Kris Taylor, even with Duggars speed running on contact with two down, Duggar had no decision to make you got to stop sign. Yeah, indeed. First Major League R B I the 76, the official it back. In the career of Kevin Gausman. And that was a big one. That was the fifth run in a game that the Giants would win 5 to 4. So we're gonna give Kevin Gausman credit for the hit of the game sponsored by Pig in a pickle. Home of the best barbecue in the Bay Area, visit them at picking a pickle dot com or in quarter. Madeira today. Well, guardsman was strike throwing machine in this game. He threw 72 pitches his day Fleming mentioned during the postgame wrap and 62 of the 72 pitches were strikes. But that didn't mean that everything was easy in the sixth inning. The defense kind of helped him out with one out and nobody on it was Max Muncy at the plate. Gausman throws a fastball into the hands popped up in the shadow Left center field out goes Du Bon on the run and makes the catch. Hunger, the center fielder.

"Million this year. It would not shock me if it was in that 789 million range because of what he proved the swing and miss stuff. And if you ask me, I think his feeling is a pitcher is actually higher than Kevin Gausman's. Because he does have three really qualified offerings. But Kevin Gausman's just more reliable, more consistent. That's why the giant prioritized bringing it back talking giants with Terry Crowley would I don't I don't know what his what the history is for Farhaan and going after Players from other teams with the Dodgers obviously have a lot of guys. Kiki Hernandez is a giant killer. But he knows Jack Peterson, Justin Turner. Any of those kind of guys would he dipped back into the Dodgers to potentially get somebody for the Giants? You know John every single time that the Giants play the Dodgers pregame batting practice, farmhands ideas down on the field, chatting with Jack Peterson. It's like they're best friends. I don't know how it general manager and the player have that kind of relationship, but it's always stuck out to me like the two conversations that you could count on in 2018 and 2019 or Madison Bumgarner in Clayton Kershaw and far anxiety and Jock, Peter said, Being a Palo Alto guy, we know that Jack has ties to the Bay Area. We know that the Dodgers probably are covering him back. You know, they talked about trading him. There was The deal of place to trade him to the Angels last offseason, So he's someone always a high on base percentage. He's someone always hits right handed pitching. And so I think that when you're looking for what the Giants are looking for, he's the Dodger who makes the most sense. I think that Marie show Du Bon is kind of a giant version of Kiki Hernandez and Justin Turner would be. You know, Evan Longoria's got that position locked down and probably a salary. That's less than what Justin Turner might command on the open market. So I just think that if you're looking at Dodgers Jack Peterson is probably at the top of that list. Good to have the intel on their relationship because I think we all were connecting Those dots is we're watching the Dodgers finish up the World Series victory just overall because you know, we had buster only on the show when the playoffs were still underway. I heard on this morning with the Trevor Brower talk. And he thinks the Giants there right and play with Trevor Bauer. We have Henry Stroman on yesterday. And you today, and I don't get the feeling as though they're going to spend a lot of money here, So just your overall thoughts and well, you know, filling the players later. How do you think Farhaan and you know, mainly Ownership and Larry attack, bringing players in from another team's roster, free agents and buying them in light of We don't know where we are right now. With this virus, the vaccine sounds promising. Are we gonna have anybody coming to the stadium to begin the year? What? What kind of schedule we looking at? So, Justus far as you know the salary and where they're going to go with it this offseason. What do you think Their thoughts are truly I think that truly they probably have 20 to $30 million to play with. I think they're 60 million under the luxury tax threshold, But I don't see many teams approaching that next year Drag. It just seems like Teams one a little bit more financial certainty about getting fans back in the stands. They want a little bit more certainty about a vaccine before thinking about the 2021 season that regarding and the potential for revenue and earnings there, So I do think that the Giants could be willing to spend. And if the deal presents itself in a way, where maybe they could get Trevor Bauer on one year $30 million contract or a three year $90 million deal. Maybe that materializes, But I don't think that we're gonna see the five year commitment that many people Expect our to be interested in this offseason, So maybe you spread that money around. Maybe there's someone like a J half for James Paxton, who could be a number three starter. Then he throw money at a number four starter and then you start to look at the rest of the holes the Giants have and maybe you bring in a jock Peterson. And so I think that they're better off spending the money around or spreading the money around and being a little more versatile in that regard, you know, 400 is always talking about market inefficiencies. The Giants were one a few teams this year who seem like they would be willing to spend in the off season. I do think that there are going to be players that are still lingering come January and February could be available who may be the Giants don't have You're a great need for, but maybe it's just too good of an opportunity to pass up. So it'll be interesting to see if our hunt really does strike that market inefficiency And what those infections what those inefficiencies become. Come January and February. Great stuff. Carrie. Thanks for getting us caught up on everything. We love it, and we'll talk to you soon. Thanks. Really appreciate. You guys have a good one. You got it. Kerry at Keough underscore Crowley does a great job of burying news group. That's a great nugget on Jack Peterson. Like you said, That's cool. Yeah, I kind of thought that and I think she I share wrote a big piece about that. I wasn't gonna ask you about your springer to give Trevor Bauer all that money. Yeah, I'd rather have George Springer. And then you know, where would you play Doobie? You could move them around Still. Well, we've had nothing but guess..

"And it's just a lot easier for guys to, you know, to get that ball out there. Two for 19 for 20. What have you and and be able to make something up? Because that clearly paid dividends for you guys this year and I don't think it necessarily hurt you on the other side. Yeah, it was. You know, it's just a kind of more exciting game. You know, when you know, you know that the offenses can can get revved up at any moment. I think there were a few factors. That led to the higher scoring environment. Like you said, I do think our offense was just better. You know that the centerfield dimensions with the bullpen being out there, that's obviously a permanent change. And look, I just think that the climate I mean, you go back 20 years compared to now we have way more warm weather games than we ever had before. And the ball definitely carries better during those games than you know, when you have the heavy fog, which you know we didn't have a ton of this year, so You know the archways. I think that's TV D the one thing I'll say is the way the ballpark was playing this year. I think most left handed hitters you know, pulling balls out, you know, toward the cove. That was an issue. What we saw more this year was right handed hitters going up. Never saw that before, And I mean, I think if we open those back up, maybe you'll see a little bit less of that. But you know the left handed pull power. And more balls going out that way. I think it is here to stay. We'll continue to see that no matter what happens with the archway. For anxiety is in favor of global warming. You just heard it here on candy are 6 18? No, He's no global warming denier. Stop it. Okay, It's climate change global warming. I love you, too. But think of the jacket that I had to wear over the last 20 years. The two of them the moves that I really I didn't think much of him at the time. And they really proved to be great were the addition of Gausman and Smiley. I mean, Gausman Looks like, you know, roll of definitely maybe a guy who could be somewhat close to a top top of the rotation type starter and smiley looks. I mean, if he throws 96. I mean, he's pretty. He's pretty impressive as well. These guys were set to be free agents and they've got every right to test the market, but is I'm sure you guys would love to bring him back. Have you made any contact with their agents? Would you like to? Is there any efforts being made to tryto maybe a preventive strike so they don't test the market. Do you think there's a chance that either would be willing to resign before? Market opens. Yes, your timely actually stop kicking rocks and get backto work is what it sounds like. Yeah, I, um Look, they both had terrific years for us. I think you described them perfectly. Um and The one thing that we're really excited about is I think those guys have interest income that they really enjoy their experience here. You know, beyond the fact that You know, our training staff did a great job of making the environment state say, you know, they're both guys who had, you know, every picture deals with some kind of alarm or health issues, And I think they feel great about the training staff generally, even beyond the covert protocols, and you know this team was very title is one of the tighter. Teams that have been around just in terms of the relationships in the chemistry, and a lot of that probably has to do with what these guys have to go through together. So, um, you know, I will definitely be in the market for starting pitching, You know? Ah, Those guys carried a big load for us, and so certainly have interesting. Bring those guys back. We certainly want to carry The momentum of this year into next year, and those guys fit in really well this year Farhaan It has been a blast talking to you this season, getting to know you on on a professional level and a bit of a personal level. I just feel like congratulations is in order for this season. I know it didn't work out the way you wanted it to. But I just feel personally that you and your staff should be committed, just like game and his staff should be commended. And the players and everybody who Who pulled this thing off and went out there and entertained us. You guys did. Good working under adverse conditions. And I just think that this is something just shouldn't be looked at is that you know it was a good season. You guys did a hell of a job, And it was fun to watch baseball. And it was fun to watch fun baseball, and I just I really think you guys provided that so I could say to me Congrats on order. Thanks a lot. I appreciate that. And you guys, you know, I really enjoy coming on talking with you guys. Probably. Sometimes I enjoy it a little bit too much sometimes. But you know you I know I know why you guys so fitting your jobs. You ask tough questions. You get good answers, and many embody the spirit and passion of our fans. And, you know, I know our fans enjoy this even more, not just getting watch team. Getting to hear you guys talk about it. So thank you for having me on. Hey, enough of this crap. I'm one and one and two and fantasy far on. I need tips on what kind of record do you have Three weeks in Okay again. This is another. I won't confirm or deny whether I'm wanted Teo. But okay, guy I shared my can make her sob story with you and I forgot the part where he didn't even play that. Well, now he's hurt so bad that I got fed up on him to $38. That's 38 bucks on the I R a little financial liability. You know what? Just make sure you to make those kind of financial mistakes. When you're building ownership will be OK on this health and happiness to you and your family for Han. Thanks again. Thanks for taking all right answer for Han Sideshow. "Six Spores Leer. All right, a big one. But they will all be big the rest of the way. One more against the Iraqis. Who is John Miller just said are struggling, and it's four against Padres and Padres are pretty set in the two positions so How will they handle the last four games of the season is going to be tough. You gotta play somebody but could be advantage Giants as we wake up today after the seven to win, and Marie so Devon with the big home run. Put him over the Rockies last night there in the seven position at 29 28 there over 500. They would take on the Braves in the first round. But again five games to go so a lot can change with a bunched up NL wildcard race. Let's get to the keys to the game. They're sponsored by Geico 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance. The offense has been absolutely key. And a few guys in particular, Alex Dickerson. Daddy has got a 14 66 0 P S, which is the best in baseball in September. Brandon Belt is over 1000 as well. And the Giants are third in all of baseball even heard this for years. If ever third in runs in all of baseball with 272, so the offense is rolling, and they had seven last night. The X factor the game that a sponsored by Xfinity X one the hub for all things sports with the Xfinity SportsZone. Well, let's flip it over to the pitching. Kevin Gausman has been very good as of late, where yesterday was a both in game Gausman of Rama goes deep as he can in his last couple of starts to games, 12 innings pitched and he has 15 strikeouts as well. And he does like the day is going to 50 Iara in day games this year, 18 innings pitch. He struck out 23, an opponent batting average of just 1 48, So he likes the sunshine and that's what Kevin Gausman will do. A day at the local park against the Rockies. As they wrap this Siri's up will come back. Brian Murphy has this date in Giants baseball to get you caught up on everything with the Toyota out of town scoreboard, including where the giant sit And where the other teams that they're chasing or chasing the Giants as Faras playoff race where they are, We'll give you that all coming.

"And you know the guy that played second base. They want their bat in there. Why don't you use him as a D H. Well, you got Slater coming in now, and Slater's got that her elbow so he can't play the outfield. So they're using Slater against the left handers and And today he struggled. He didn't really have a good at bat. He was over four today and you can just tell he's grimacing a little bit on that and you know, and then when he's not in the lineup, then rough is the D. H and they put belt at first base, and tomorrow's going to be interesting to see if he puts the lefties against minor. I'm really interested to see if that's gonna happen. Well, you know Bill Lasky Bill in the hunt, but barely getting rougher form, Though Gino's there they're putting their backs against the wall. It really when you play the Oakland A's 32 19. They could play a little bit and they're really good at home. They really are numbers. Their numbers are really good is like 18 and seven or something of that nature. But the Oakland A's have a good team. We all know that and they put in today. Today wasn't a complete loss for me. I did get my flu shot. There's a plus. Gino, you tell you what. How about Gausman Gausman through really well, Teo for him. I really I mean, he gave up 100% expert. And guess what He's got for Anel behind his name. I know he only gave up one hit. It reminded me of Matt Cain. Gino. Thanks for the call. Have a great Saturday night right before before I break here. I I do want to talk about a friend of mine, and I know Dave Fleming John Miller crew can keep talked about. And that was Gary Hughes, who? Ah, Did my friend for a long time and he's a baseball life or no doubt grew up here on the peninsula went to Sarah High School, played baseball under Jim for Go see at Sarah High School and became a legend in Bay Area. He scouted so many kids and had so many great players that got to the big leagues. He started with the Giants and Really made his mark with the Chicago Cubs in the Boston Red Sox. And when you have a lifer like that, that's out there every day, watching games, watching talent and understood the game and literally, you could sit there and talk baseball. For hours with Gary huge and it's a sad day for baseball because Gary Hughes was that type of guy and we will miss him. We miss him at the ballpark. Of course, we can't get out there. But he was there all the time and To his family. The Hughes family, of course. Baseball will miss Gary a great man, and I just wanted to send a minute to minutes out there and rest. Well, my friend. You didn't deserved a great life and baseball and baseball was good for you. All right. We're going to take a quick break here on extra innings. 808 can be our if you want to get on the phone lines. "So Lam Koon Rod just got a sudden bald as I call it because rough clanked one in left field. He ended up getting a guy out second base and unusual play. But do Bond meets that ball in centerfield thought it was the third out of the inning. And then rough coming down the left field line on Simeon's ball. He was played over to left center field. That was just Ah, nightmare there. He just could pick up the ball didn't know where it was, and I ended up going for a double. Couple of balls. You think there's gonna be errors? No, Those aren't errors. Those air one's a fielder's choice and and the other two are just misplayed. So the sun ball kind of heard him and, of course, when we go back in time here They were challenging everything they were getting on base and in the fourth inning when Du Bon hit that a little infield hit off Simeon's glove when he kind of threw late A salon around it third and not knowing where he was going. He rounded third, almost halfway down the line, and what confused me is. He's coming from 2nd and 3rd, so he sees the ball in front of them when Simeon catches it. And Simeon had a hard time getting out of the glove. Will. He's rounding third. Knowing the play was going to go to first base. There was no need for him to take that big of a round and you saw won't is pushing him back. But it was way too late. And Olsen did this up in Seattle to where he picked a guy off a third base so mad all since Ah Gold Glove first baseman and he did not even flinch thrown at third base. And there he was Solano with another mental error, of course yesterday in the first inning when when wouldn't Webb was pitching the throw to second base was way too late and it and it cost Webb run in the first inning, so couple mental errors on defense with Solano and then on the base paths with salata. And he makes it up going two for four today, hitting 3 37 still hitting a ball extremely well. But these little mental errors are costing the Giants big runs. And at the same time, it's costing them losses. So now you're going into nine games left in the season, and they're 25 26 with a good handful of teams that are trying to get to the wildcard position tomorrow. A whole different type of Ah, atmosphere going on the mound tomorrow. Tyler Anderson gets the start. Of course, the he pitched the second game in Seattle got thrown out after two winnings. He threw two endings, four hits for and one Walk, three strikeouts in that game. Going against Mike Miner who they had faced when Mike was with the Rangers, and they beat him up pretty good. In that game. He only lasted five and two thirds, giving up nine hits, six earned runs He gave up in that game. And a home run ball to a flora's in that and you got a couple guys that really hit him pretty good. Durban was two for three in that game longer was one for three with a double. Ruff was one for two. Hence, later was one for three. A couple. Other guys trumpet Yes, drop was too for three hours was one for two, so they have seen Mike Minor. But since he's changed uniforms and come to Oakland, he has pitched very well. He's want to know the four point second seven. He's pitched in three games to is a starter. He shut out Seattle in a seven inning double hitter where you only gave up two hits, two walks. Eight K's The whole line. He's bitched 11 of the third inning, seven hits for the Oakland A's. So we got two little lefties out there tomorrow, throwing a lot off speed pinpoint and we'll see what happens. They pushed Johnny Cueto back till Monday against Colorado. And given him another day because the hip and he's got a little stiffness in his hip. But Gausman today boy, he pitched very well for the San Francisco Giants, and I think the Giants are real happy with him. And then, most likely he'll start either against the Padres. Or maybe the Thursday game against Colorado ate away K B R. Let's talk some San Francisco giant baseball. Let's get toe will in San Francisco. How are you this afternoon? Will Hello will great. Can you hear me? Yeah. Now I got you will Okay, I'm at the ball. I'm a part. Maybe the coverage is a little bit nice to talk to you and what I turn on the ball game tonight. Justus Solano is rounding third, and it's all your fault. Well, that's your fault. Well, that's the reason. You know how that happens. You go like Oh, don't give that Oakland a bunch of chance. They remind me of how I used to pitch in a Diable valley and it gets really hot out there and And you know when you're working that hard, you don't even want to throw one ball. And so you kind of carry a little bit extra competitiveness, you know, and you don't wanna mess around and waste a bunch of time and energy and Oakland's like that they give them a little opportunity. Those guys get after you. Well, and you know, when you look at this lineup, you don't have guys hitting 300. They're all 2 52 60 to 40. But they keep coming at you. You know Gausman had a perfect game through three innings. The fourth inning, one little walk one little wild pitch, and Olson just makes contact and push it out to center field. And it was a one nothing lead and that hell for a while. They're good team. How far can they go? You don't know, but at the same time they're scratchers and by picking up lamb and lost Ella, they're not missing a beat. Good deal. You know, grass. Grossman was a great pickup. He's kind of like that new type of giant word. They've been around a little bit, and they come here and they performed. You know if we're going to make the playoffs can I talk about who would you choose? Is AH, closer. Well, there's there's a couple of them down there. Of course, you know, you know, I've always liked the the side armor. You know Rogers. I always liked him because he's a trick kind of guy. You know what he can come in For one inning, he soft tosses. He's 84 86 u also have Watson. Watson's gotta 0.6 earned run average. He's that quiet a beast down there. That really just stops any kind of rally and he put zeroes on the board. You know, I was really thought Kunal. Rod was going to be that guy, but he's is inconsistent. He's got the stuff, but I think 7/8 inning got kind of guy with cool rod, and they can barrel him up. Still, he threw 100 miles an hour again Today a couple fly balls He gave up should have been caught. They weren't and he got caught The sun The sun balls hurt today. I get it. What would you say to that young guy Webb is his name or Weber Moody and Web They had, Logan. I really I guys get too much movement. And what would you What would you say the him to try and Kind of take a little bit of that movement out because I still think he's got a lot of potential gonna will. One of the biggest things I look at him in his body moves too much. I'd tell him slow down his own a little bit more when you watch him. The upper body moves in the bottom part of the body's open already. So the motion I think you need to slow down a little bit. Get the ball moving, where you can control the movement of the pitch over the zone..

"You turn on your TV. The Giants are the visiting team. They're going to be wearing their road Grace because these games were scheduled to be in Seattle. So Seattle in the home lights giants hitting first in the top of the first and it's going to be all withdrew. Smiley tonight at 6:45 P.m. on KNBR 6 80. The other big news of the day's Kevin Gausman memories of revealing no structural damage. Great news effect. Here's Gabe Kapler on the postponement of the game. Hand injury update on Gausman and smarter. We have all made me talking over the course of the last 12 hours plus about their quality in Seattle. My communication has been mainly with Scott and far A little bit with Scott Service to kind of get a sense of of what they were seeing what they had seen. The previous Clegane games can see a CZ and then also with our player was just kind of aging. A comfort level on DH what they were hearing. So I think the communication with the Players Association with Major League baseball with the Mariners with the A's and and this is Certainly a joint decision that we all thought was in the grips of declares. I just wanted to start by giving you guys an update on Gausman are Guzman's right back clean and there are no structural concerns were still evaluating, but we feel confident in the possibility that I'll make a start. Oakland. Still, Marge is gonna throw five innings in the same game on Thursday in Sacramento that will have him built up and ready for anything we need in the past. Week or so of the season. I wanted to also let you know that Smiley will start tomorrow's game against the Mariners and Tyler.

"Yes, happy Monday, although it was a difficult one of debate, don't believe the 40. Others losing at home 20 for 20, the A's lose Matt Chapman for the year. Alex Dickerson went through a very tough weekend. The Giants lose Kevin Gausman. We got a lot to discuss. None of it great. We will keep it positive for you, too In extent. Good morning, my friend. How are you? Well, we may get Alex Dickerson today. Still sleep, so don't use the word positive. Around him and a false positive. No kidding. But that, uh, that is bound to happen when your chest and so often in baseball they test every other day. But then, after the positive came through, they started the test. Every day, and he's thinking got, like six test he and his wife, and so it was a really ordeal. And the Giants. What I said was don't get swept in San Diego. Well, they did. They got swept another double header. The seventh inning. Double hunters is a real snooze fest. They just can't score. They did not lose Kevin Gausman to be clear. He's Con in limbo and Henry Sherman and lightness on what's Going on with him. My crew. Go said this morning he thinks he'll be able to pitch in Seattle. So You know, obviously a forearm. Strange, Not good, but I think Mike's confident that we'll be okay. You gotta have Gausman after he pitched a week ago on Labor Day Monday, and he was terrific. Sole C but we do want to start with What we both observed and didn't hear yesterday. And you know, we've watched obviously a lot of sports on television. In different worlds where you see Not a soul at Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park or Wrigley Field. Oracle Park. It's just weird. And the N V a bubble, But until you experience it yourself, but I'll be intrigued to hear What you thought of it. It was just it was dark and dank, as though is the skies. And the overall mood driving there was just weird. It did not feel like a football game. I mean, ah football game is the pageantry. Even if your team is bad and you're going to go to and 14 or something, it's still Oh, once a week, you want to get eight home games a year. The city stops and it's just everything is there. And Ah, there's none of that yesterday. Just driving in going into the stadium was really odd. I was not allowed to go on the field, even though I'm allowed to go on the field for practice and be around the guys, But I can't be around the Arizona Cardinals. Apparently, even though I get tested often But I did go down in the stands all the way down in the front row. And I did watch warmups and I saw things I don't typically see because I will, you know, looped around the entire circumference of the field. But still it was just in there when the game started. It just hit me that this is weird, and, ah There was a thought in the NFL to delay the start of the year. So he wouldn't have what we're having. Which is Kansas City's got a little bit. We'll see what Jacksonville did. But you know, it's just not the same. It's not. It's not pro football football is different. All right. I'm not saying the other sports don't need fans, but All I kept thinking about John was Howlett Would Levi's be after Raheem Mostert? Shirked Isaiah Simmons on that choice for how much 76 yards and that's where it rolls over to your pass rush. The pass Rush is just not going to be as effective at home this year. There's just no doubt about it. You're not going to get a rolling start of the advantage of deafening roar noise. Is Kyle called it last week. It's the biggest advantage it all sport when the defensive line of home goes against offensive lineman especially out of the perimeter, where tackles can't hear But beyond all that it was just it's just not the same. And I had my booth. We have our windows open in our boots, But we're up on the eighth floor. What was it like for you in the press box when you're all glassed in You know what it felt like, First of all, let me let me just give credit to the 40 Niners in their ability. I'm sure they had a million meetings about this whole thing, but I think I was probably the first media member there. I was there at about 7 40, because I I just anticipated issues. But from and this is something you go through every day, but from the ability to just, you know, they take your temperature lean into this thing. I had to probably go through about five different stations, and everybody was so buttoned up to get into that place. I was amazed. I mean, it probably took me five minutes. I couldn't even believe How well put together this whole thing was and how everybody was just so linked together and did a phenomenal job. Of getting everybody through. There was a fair amount of people, but they didn't just an awesome job. But in terms of the The box itself. It was the weirdest thing in 20 years I've ever seen just what you just said. So we had double workstation. So we're normally right next to each other is a lot of buzz, especially the beginning of the year. Everybody's talking congregating. Talk about other games that happened. It was none of that. It was like walking into a library. No one was talking yet double workstations with plexiglass between each workstation. Everybody had masks on the entire game. And unless you were drinking something or eating something when they had box lunches normally have a bunch of food out everything like that. Unless you're eating something you had a you had a face covering on and there was nothing and then for the first little while because, as you said, we're in case there's no Windows open in the press box level. It was. It was like watching a football game on mute. You know, guys would score and I'm expecting to hear this. Like you said on most like a roar of the crowd. It was nothing. It was like watching a scrimmage on mute. And then finally they pumped in the noise of the game. But I came home and watched the whole thing because I just I got no sense of any sound. During the game of anything, and so I had to come back home and watch the whole thing. Because I just didn't get a sense of it. It was so it was Karim weren't there. I read that they pumped audio. They did their phones on the floor. After the after boxes you could get here. You could hear guys. You don't call it on your checklist. That was about after the first quarter because the first quarter there was no sound whatsoever. And then what they did was was smart. Then they started to pump the sound from the field on so you could hear the calls and all that kind of stuff, but still, it was very sterile. And it was just weird that in the whole thing was just weird. And I had you guys so I had you. Here's what I normally do. I put you guys in my ear, So I'm listening to your call of it so I could get a sense of some things. And then I had on my iPad. I had to. Ah, so you would be proud. I had one on red zone and then I had one on the game. And if there was something that I needed to go back and see, I would actually go back on the game and turn it up and listen in another pair of headphones of what what they were saying about the play because I was trying to get a sense from you and Tim. And from Spillman and Kugler, like what the heck was going on? Because I could see it, But you really couldn't get a sense and you couldn't congregate with other people like Ian Williams was sitting right behind me. He's a For the first time in the minors. I didn't feel like it could turn around and say Hey, on, you know, with all these runs with Tyler, you know, could they spy somebody? There was no talking. There was a congregated was just the weirdest thing, man. Weird. Yeah, really Wass And I guess you know what Will this be glad to get through each game, and now the team has to travel there. Leave it on Friday for a 10 Day road trip to go to New York, And then there, you know, going down to the Greenbrier in West Virginia for a week and then go back to New York to play the Jets and Giants and You know just what happened with the Giants over the weekend..

"You know, he was you got the Giants out, but he was You know 88 87 so far outside, smiling, I yawned again. You know, And then there's like five guys that he signed that. Are you on. Every one of those guys is because contributed you home. Kind of. That's what he does. Yeah. Just pie files are implying. And after a while you play a weekend games and what works and another there in a spot where, where if they played well? You know, they got a chance to grab that seven through a slot in postseason, which would be Remarkable, remarkable eight and 16 and and you go after what the Vegas thought about this team going into the season and what we all thought, I mean, they deserve so much credit Now they've got to finish the job. But right now, that is a tonic credit. I'll just take a guy like last night. You mentioned Gausman going six innings. I'm looking at the statue. He's 11th in all of Major league baseball and strikeouts means top 11. But you look at his career numbers. There was really nothing to indicate He's having a career year and I know if they coached him toe to use a different pitch. You know, that's their thing is, though, if they'll find what works best for you. Through their analysis until you Hey, throw this pitch more often. Is that what's going on? I mean, guardsman, get Teo. Yeah, he used to pitch his last night. It was so much like Jason Smith. It was fastball and said it was You know when the Giants needed for Jason Smith They got a fastball, curveball, guys. And that was it. I mean, And then he He's right. Three games in a giant uniform, and he developed a changeup. And then he became a fastball change of changed everything. And that's what Guzman did last that he used to pitch is We didn't see a slider. We didn't see a curveball, Fastball, changeup and, ah And the changeup was was incredible. So something has happened. You're right. Where they've coached him. I said, Now, this is what works for, you know, maybe you ought to stick with this and he is off and rolling and and I think Age wise. He was about the same age when Jae Shin Smith figured it out. Uh, we, uh, kind of laughter the last night. Of course. Mike and I laughed at ourselves. Confucius would have the perfect career. He had great success with the Giants and signed with the Dodgers laid an egg and took their money, perfect careers and giant statue of him up. Yeah, he's a He's a great guy I want yes, but man to make a comparison to him. He was no. Until Lincecum in that crew came around. He was the best pitcher we ever saw it certainly in that ballpark and And to make that comparison to Gausman and he's having a career year Gausman and it's clearly something that far on.

"Diamond notes. I'm Rod Brooks Tonight You're 17 and 19 Giants are in Colorado to take on the 17 and 18 Rockies. The first of a quick two game set at course Field. Tonight's matchup features ready Kevin Gausman against fellow right hander John Grey. Gausman took the loss his last time out that we're double header. And this weird year against the Dodgers. Gausman did not get out of fifth inning before he was pulled Gray on the other hand seller his last time out, throwing six innings of one run ball. While striking out five in route to a win against the Caplis. Arizona Diamondbacks. Now this serious has a little bit of juice as the Giants in the Rockies were sitting 8th and 9th, respectively, in the national extending and remember, It's 2020 so weird. "Here among your Google home Smart speaker by seeing play K N E. R. What's happening? I should open a text like very angry with me again. I'm not rooting for the Dodgers. I'm rooting for the long term success of giant. It's also saw a lot of dirty words on here. He's like, I don't even know the meaning of half of those words. Try the way I have to speak badly of your mother. That's part of it. I don't know how much you put into these kind of things. I think you put very little into it, but I could be wrong here. Fangraphs says that the Giants playoff chances of 30% You do buy into those at all by the fan? Yeah. Ah, ah, week ago. What? That? What would they have? Said 0.3%. I think they wouldn't close toe Belushi on that right? 00 Point is, you're not even iron that Pretty low five or 10,000. I don't know 60 women. I don't like that stuff at all. I mean, the giant schedule is easier. I don't even look at that. Because I think you know these are major league players. And you know, I've seen it so many times or you look like you have an easy schedule on you'll lose too. Too bad teams and you wind up you no good teams. Get beat. I mean, it's just you know, which is tells you what they've done before. But there's 30 games to go and they're in the race. And it's right now you're in the playoffs. I mean, But this week is going to be critical. There's no doubt and your C and it's the same three the giant saw last time they were in L. A furious Kershaw. Be well there. And they've got a great line up against left handers. Furious. They were terrible that night. Now they did be Kershaw. The Walker Buehler game that sideways But they they do have a great lineup against left handed starting pitching. It would be better if Austin Slater was able to play. I mean, he just he had that elbow injury and then on a weird ball, yes. Hit to left. David Peralta misplays it and Slater gets caught between 2nd and 3rd and Is pulls into third and he's got a growing injury and it may be more than 10 days, so They've got a good lineup. They've got plenty of guys to hit left handed pitching, even the great Kershaw, who's No opening day. Kershaw got scratch because of the back. And in his first start was really good. His second start was against the Giants, and it was just okay. I watched his last start against Seattle and its level We have to start to go against the Angels, and he's back. He's throwing a little bit harder. But the bolo on the fastball is one thing. But then his secondary pitches break more. And the slider is chest that were on the bugs by the curveball is completely got the curveball back. He's mixing and he went to Dr Line this year, so he's got the change back. So, but they do hit left handed pitching. Well, they just don't have Kershaw in San Francisco. They had him better in Los Angeles. But But I like the way the Giants have it lined up. You know, Cueto and Gausman going 12. And then Logan Webb s O. I think there's ah would be loving Web. I believe so. Weapon Friday, right? Yeah. The Web on Thursday. So ah! But I think Cueto Cueto pictures well against the Dodgers used to have a really hard time. Oh, Justin Turner are used to get him out a lot. Remember, Turner had a hard time with him because of Chartres leg lift. He could not time it. But he hits him well, and I get the big home run last time when Pence lost the fly ball, So that's always a good matchup. Corey Seager's locked in a movie batch. I mean, Are we looking at? First of all Smokey bets ever played. Miracle Park in his career. Yes, he has because the only reason I know is because for some weird reason my son's a Red Sox fan, and we went and saw the Red Sox and I have Have pictures of it on your son likes every team in baseball, like the Dodgers to hey, doesn't like the Dodgers he likes. He likes Boston teams like the Patriots and the Celtics in the red Like some weird did he say the Patriots come on anyone attend? I love George. Although not as much anymore. He's a typical front running kid. Brady left drunk left. He made me He had a poster of Brady in his room. You made me take it that he's a take that down. He's not a parent. So that's has play here before. Yeah, check what is I thought he did, But I I was thinking about that. So Stransky and bats or two of the best right fielders in all of baseball, which will be Interesting to watch. And Betts is just Wow. She locked in right now, but Cody Ballenger looks completely lost What's going on with him? But he's He's having a poor year, so they're great. I mean his dad, your team. Would they hit seven home runs on Sunday and they're you know, they're even in this truncated 60 games schedule. We're trying to figure out how many games they would win. Well, that you know they could go like 44 16 or something which is ridiculous. And if we were playing a 116. They're on pace to win 119 games. So I don't know if they're that good, Ah 119, but break Seattle's record and be the most wins ever in a major league season. Now it's going to be weird, and we'll go by winning percentage. They won't get the credit. For that, but they are, you know, we're just conceding the National League west to them. Could anybody the giant swept, Um, this Siri's And not only beat El Eva swept Ella. Could we talk about that? Or we just gonna give the National League West for an eighth straight year and move on and try to get in there second place or One of those two wild card spots. I don't know that 100% give it to him is actually that the Padres are pretty good, but, yeah, I think I think that I think the Dodgers gonna win. I mean, I haven't seen the odds on them winning the division, but it's got to be astronomical in their favor. Fangraphs says them at 97.8. Let's just cancel the rest of the year. Most of injuries. Let's see. Mookie Betts has nine total it bats. In San Marco got Oracle. What is he? Four for three games? Yeah. Probably some walks mixed in there. Yeah, So four for nine couple walks for over nine for 44. What? Here, do they play here? I don't have it. I'm just looking at his career splits. If I'm I have to go back to buy three years ago to Fenway last year when he was like years ago because I have pictures in my my kid doesn't have braces yet, and he's got his braces off. So what's that? Like three years? Three. That's what I'm looking at it these bigger good father. He had these big Bucky beaver teeth, and so we had to get him fixed it..

"Maybe hit your drive from the tee box all the way to the green and make something as low as a two or three. And tilt the balance of the scoreboard. Or you could take a driver out and hit it errant and screw up your whole round. You could go in the lake and go into the trees and created a risk reward moment. Yeah. Yeah, That was the moment. The thing that was the moment where that would have been the roars. You would've. Yeah, you would have heard about on the Embarcadero. Yeah, So right. So there was there was great, bittersweet, right? Right, Great, but I appreciate the emotional that's really because you know, you never know how what's going to touch a nerve and it sounds like it was, like all the circumstances and not to mention the balls of this kid. Just give me the drive. Because I'm going for the win. He became a champion in the wake of historic champion 23 years old and mean time. You know, he'd gotten it he'd gotten and say he had gotten up and sat back down multiple times. It's like yeah. Sometimes when you do that, you know, your blood rushes to your knees. Get one of those head rushes. We get dizzy if I think that was concerned with the sit in a bench, But you know, your back doesn't feeling feeling he might have been running low on blood sugar, So I said he grabbed three most good. "Lin Ardis Market's quite simply the best Hear him on your apple home pot by seeing play KNBR. Welcome back to can be ours. You're Dave. Let me talk about a J. Pollock homerun that destroyed the Giants lied and destroyed them. They couldn't catch up. The Dodgers won the third game of a three game series 6 to 2. We talked about Rogers and in a situation and he came in yesterday to spotless innings, three strikeouts today. Hey, came in to face Justin Turner, Max Muncy and a J. Pollock and Justin Turner hatamoto to give up a base hit got Muncie on a strike three called He fell behind a J. Pollock three and only chipped away 3031 And he got him 32 on an inside fastball. A Pollock thought was a ball start going down. First base got called back, walked around. And then he threw the Frisbee and first B. That was flat and Pollack did miss it A J. Pollock hitting his fourth home run of the year, giving the L. A Dodgers 3 to 2 lead. And that was enough for the Dodgers to defeat the Giants is a giant only got two hits today they couldn't manufacture any kind of hits off Walker Buehler for this game in the beginning was to fastball pitchers Walker Buehler dropping 96 97 with the cutter and the knuckle Curve ball at 80 82. Just fabulous. Pitching by him and then on the other side, Kevin Gausman best outing so far for starter and you look at his last couple outings against San Diego. He struck out eight against Colorado struck out seven. Today. He struck out 6 23 strikeouts so far for Kevin Gausman and two walks and I like the comparison they had about Jason Schmidt because Jason Schmidt was the same way high velocity with a really good changeup, and we saw that with Gausman today. With the changeup. He dropped. A few change of sinner got hitters way behind and then I liked how he elevated the fastball that dropped a couple curveballs down. So you wanted to change the eyesight of the hitter, and it worked. He had a lot of ground balls, a lot of fly balls. And he struck out six and he was pinpoint on the inside corner toe. Lefty's had the lice little slider curveball, but the changeup was really the best pitch he had. We talked Jason Schmidt. Jason Schmidt came over here from Pittsburgh with that same ordeal with just fastball, changeup in great comparisons that they made for Kevin Gausman, as well as Jason Schmidt. When you have power pictures like that. But I was very impressed with him. Just getting ahead of hitters. Time and time again. Hey, anyway can be r Give me a call. Lets talk. Kevin Gausman. What'd you like about him? What do you see in him? That was ah, $9 million a one year contract that he picked up in free agency and And I tell you what. I really, really like him in starting rotation to have a little more power coming in there. We might see Logan Web tomorrow. That's possibility going into Houston. You also have Anderson that could be possible thrown in Trevor Cahill. Somebody that just came up to the taxi squad will talk about some of those changes later in the show, but I really want to hear what you guys think about Kevin Gausman. What did you like? Ate away Can br What did you like? Why did he get pulled out of 80 pitches? Would you have pulled him out? If you were the pitching coach are or Gabe Kapler. Those are questions I want to hear from you Ate away came BR. Get on the phone line to tell me what you thought. At that time, I thought he might have been able to go out there and talk to him a little bit before he went to Pullman and give him one more hitter is still at a two. Nothing lead. He really did not have inning where he had base runners on. He had a nice double play ball in the fifth inning where Brandon Belt through to craw craw through it, backto To Ah Gausman for 361 double play got out of the inning, really? Nothing big time in pitch counts 18 pitches in the third inning. But after that 88 pitches, seven pitches these air, small sample sizes of how dominant he was today and when you look at it overall 80 pitch performance 57 strikes. Might have pushed him one more hitter against Justin Turner, who only popped out to the catcher and struck out so he really didn't handle Gausman that well or pick up the ball too well on him on the other side on the offensive side, they just could not. Such walker Buehler. A few walks got guys on base, but nothing could come up from it until you have in the fifth inning. Why don't bat he had he is just such a good hitter, and he sees the ball so well. Ah, fastball up. Walker Buehler threw a fastball up. He watched it for strike one and in a couple of hitters pitches later, a curveball down that he swung through. Had him to two and then with two outs a second and third. Ah, sure enough, another curveball and yes, popped it out to center field for a base hit. And the Giants around the board to do nothing. At that time, Austin Slater got hit by a pitch and Pablo had a walk. So on a wild pitch, and sure enough, there was an opportunity for him there. In you has got it And that was about it. That was the only offense they could gel today against Walker Buehler. And of course, we talk about this Dodgersbullpen Top five bullpen in Major League baseball and, of course, Ferguson came in, struck out three McGee came in, struck out one training came in, gave up a hit but got out of it. And then Kenley Jansen came in just for one any cleanup and had a 123 inning. So the Dodgers winning their 11th game losing five and the Giants finally get out of L. A. They played him seven times there already. Did he start thinking seven times out of 17 games, and they're there for 23 of Dodgers beat him for 14 games, and the Giants on Ly 138 away can be argued on phone lines, not take a quick break here and come right back. Let's talk some transactions that happened before the game. Let's talk about some of the new players. The Giants picked up As well. A couple people on a taxi squad once get ate away can be are joined.

"Up in the Denver area and went to pitch his college baseball for less. You want to pitch? Hernandez strikes out swinging. He went after that nasty splitter. Wow! Strike three and Kiki is shaking his head. As he walked back toward the doctor dugout. Maybe the nastiest pitch that any Jane has thrown in these two games. I think it's gonna be interesting every single time Kevin Gausman pitches this year because James really believed strongly in his talent. He's gonna be a big part of this team. Here's Corey Seager, hitting in the six spot in the lineup tonight for the Dodgers had an infield hit his first time up to one. Ella bottom three. Pitch is a splitter hit toward left center field. You stretched me on the move. Looking up, It's gonna bounce up against the very bottom of the wall in left center field. Stransky will play the carom and relay it back into Brandon Crawford Seger those into second with a double. So Gausman, I think tried to surprise him with that off speed pitch to start the bad Seeger, who is a very aggressive swinger. He was ready for it was up and got just enough for the strike zone. It wasn't a terrible pitch, but we went down to get it. Stransky was playing mostly straight away and really just didn't have any kind of chance. To go catch that one. Segers in scoring position for Chris Taylor flight.

Giants' Kapler kneels with players during anthem

"That The number one headlines across the country, and maybe even here locally are going to center around the national anthem and what happened with the Giants players and coaches and manager During the national anthem. Gabe Kapler took any several Giants players Jalen Davis and Mike Extreme Ski in Austin. Slater were among them. And John Richardson, one of the Giants coaches was on any other Giants players, seemingly even if they weren't kneeling down in solidarity. I think that is going, Tio Generate a lot of discussion around the country and we saw a quick Word from the giantsclubhouse sort of like in a Cactus League game. Players who leave the game are made available for comments. I think it was Kevin Gausman, who commented on it and said, Hey, we're all here to support each other, and the message before the game was with the first anthem coming up. Since this restart that whatever anybody does, you're going to be supported around here. It's your choice and will support you. And so anyway, I have a feeling that's gonna generate a lot of discussion with the Giants did tonight. Well, I think so. And

"This one's quick story. Number five, if you could thank you very much. There's an article on ESPN dot com about baseball players like major league players saying they have faked jobs when they talk to people out in the wild, which is of a good story. But god. Fame. Are we going to tell him? I think we should. So basically players are apparently known for using fake jobs and somebody who isn't recognize him says, what do you do which makes sense when somebody wants to make small talk with you or something in any situation like an Uber at the bar any other situation where he with people and you say, I'm a professional baseball player. They're like what guy take your big. I. Was an Uber once well, so maneuver lots, but. I the when they wanna make small talk, man. Is there anything worse than the world that feeling when you're like you get in and you're just waiting in? You're like, okay, we've been thirty seconds. And no one said anything. Yes. But then there's the how's your day? You're like, oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no, give short answer is look at my phone make it seem like I'm writing work, Email or something. But don't be rude. She didn't want to hurt your rating. And so I got in. I was leaving your house. That was when it happened. Right. I was leaving us was late at night. And you guys always do like text me when you get back in this guy, would we don't have to get into the whole story. But basically eventually asked me what I do for work. And I was like oh God. And it was late especially for you. So it was like eleven thirty or twelve or something to who knows and the guy s way do for work, and my brain is like just say something just say anything, and I was like, oh, I'm in what I say investment, Bank finance? I'm in finance. Me finance. I think I meant to say accounting. I was just trying to find the the the job that you don't want to ask a follow up question about job that you're like, no, I don't care. And so as a finance because I find finance to be very boring, but what I didn't realize a lot of people love money, and they'd finance covers a lot. So this guy was like may to what are you doing finance? And I was like, oh the numbers. 'cause like I work for. What's it called? Can. I think of it. Of course, these were the only words that came to me then. And now I can't remember what I said what's it called one like a small group of people? Invest venture capital. Yeah. Yes. Thank you. I was like I work for a venture capital firm. I must have just watched billions or something. And the guy was the guy was like, oh my God. Really? That's amazing. And I was like it's fine. I I don't love it though. So I'm probably going to leave. And he's like, no, no, no don't leave that job. I have been trying to get into a venture capital firm. A really long time. Like, you you should not leave that job. And it was like, well, he's going to ask like, what are APR is numbers until I was just like, well, I'm so I'm changing careers, and like, my friend was in this venture capital firm. And he like offered me the I'm not qualified to do it, and like sort of just do paperwork and stuff like secretarial work. So I just don't let I just want to go. So this is me right here on the left fat. And I was like I am I have now firmly backed mice. Luckily, we're very close to my place. But I was backed into a corner. Throwing skirts window. Yeah. If you if you do please, let me know and have your friend, call me. And I was like, okay. But anyway, the ones that that baseball players use. Okay. I don't understand this one. But Kevin Gausman from the Braves said that he's a blimp folder..
