"Hello and welcome to the QB, Monday morning NFL podcast. I'm Gary gramling. He is and even this is a whirlwind week. I think this is legitimately a world win weekend. The I I don't use that term lightly. But this was an insane week of player movement. Probably the highest profile week a player movement and NFL history for one just one week in terms of scale of name scale of numbers of big trades and signings it was up there. You went from all time to up there. That's okay. Well, we'll we'll cover the whole banner year off. Very time agreeing with you. All right fair enough. Well, let's let's get into it OPEC junior. We're gonna call this the headliner and had the moment. It is open junior is on the Cleveland Browns. And we're gonna talk about both sides of this. But let's start with the with the positive side the optimistic side Oto Beckham Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield Jarvis Landry. Nick Chubb later Kareem hunt once he's back from the game suspension. This Brown seem are the favorites in the AFC north now. They're the most explosive offense on paper in the AFC north. So we can start right? There defense is probably every here's what I would makes me pause on that Gary is because Brown's got so good. There's this allusion that the Steelers took a big step back and look losing Antonio Brown. That is a step back. They were without levian last year. So that's that's not as big of an adjustment. And then the ravens defensively took some hits. But I don't think it's going to amount to a regression the way it would appear on paper. So I guess the Browns. Yeah. If I had to predict I probably predict them to win it, especially because I know other team it's going to be half new division winners this year like every year. But I don't think they're the runaway favorites the way they're made out to be right now. I think there's some be said for the fact that it probably takes maybe a year maybe half a season to sort of get all these all these new guys to jail. I think throwing a quarterback receiver tandem in there and expecting them to click immediately is is a. A bit much. I, you know, Brady moss. Did it? I don't know. If it's a really a usual thing to see that happen, though. Well, I think their styles of play fit very well together. I would imagine that's going to click quicker than expected because Baker Mayfield is a pulls the trigger. Turn it loose type of quarterback. And that's what you need to be. When you have old Dell Beckham because we're he beat you are on slant routes, which are inherently tight window throws. Those are not hard ones and then at the intermediate and deep levels, and that's where ally manning was always very inconsistent with Beckham. Yeah. Mayfield, really pushes the ball. Nobody attack. The seems more aggressively last year now Beckham will not be running seem routes. Hold up at the point is that fifteen to twenty yard vertical type of area mayfield's very comfortable on that. So dig routes post patterns corner routes just straight go balls..

"The Dodd guests. I I'm Gary gramling here with Andy of annoyed Abby our first topic today. The tape is in. Through call tape. I call film. Mel the film is in Super Bowls watch the all day on I wasn't planning on watching it Tuesday. I don't know what I thought I was going to do instead. But I got a message saying the system was back up in. So I settled in wind up I spent the whole day on it. I didn't plan on that was good. It was really good film, though. That's why took so long. The film is in doesn't quite hit your ear the same way. There is no tape anymore. I I started. There was tape NFL films go. Yeah. And there's a wall of tapes, and they would put a tapes intake tapes out, and that's how it rebounded, and they all got on a digital system. But some people still say tape Tom Brady having says film. When he wins a seven Super Bowl. I'll I'll switch to film. But for now, it's tape in my mind. So Andy has indeed broken down the Super Bowl all twenty two tape. We're gonna talk about that a little bit at the top. And then we will get in some season stuff and some of your mail bag questions. But Andy, what's your what will give me your general take on on? What you saw the general take is that anyone who's telling you. It was a sloppy game or boring game. I I understand that certain a boring game. That's just a preference thing. But it was not a sloppy game. At all it was one of the most marvelous defensive battles..

"Hello and welcome to the m hue de Monday morning, NFL podcasts. I'm Gary gramling. He is and even we we didn't have a whole lot to review this past weekend. So we are going to look ahead of it. Kind of kind of in extended dive show, if you will that will be the full Super Bowl preview, and then we will take questions about the Super Bowl or anything else. But mostly about the Super Bowl on the Thursday, deep dive shows ascend those questions talk back the increase dot com. Twitter Facebook any any real current way of of contacting people, but Andy here we are. You're in Atlanta already. I'll be there Syria. I am. I know they're making us share a room this year because we share a podcast, and I hate to is only one bathroom here. Don't use it until I'm down there. I wanted to be pristine, okay? Okay. Appreciate and I'm looking forward to the CNN. We're seeing each other. Now, we set up the video again, I know she's talk with your hands a lot more than I realize you were doing on previous shows you've already put both index fingers in the air to make one of your points and be quite fun here. It's it's starting fast here, we're going to break down though, both sides of the ball, and they weren't getting your special teams because we kind of do that. But there's also really nothing talk about the special teams. They're good kickers. They're good punters. They're smart people. Let's start with the Rams offense versus patriots defense. I mean, this is it this is McVay versus Bella chick. This is what people are tuning in for. And obviously as we all know the real man behind this game is match Wisha. Matt Patricia the former patriots regulars or repatriates defensive coordinator in Detroit. But we saw this game where the Rams played in Detroit. In december. No one really knows. Because the final score was thirty to sixteen and it was not a national game. And not a whole lot of people watch it. But this was sort of the ginning of that really dry run really troublesome run from the Rams offense. And was there something Patricia did because he's got he's got a defense out there. That's not overly talented, which I think a lot of people would say about that patriots patriots events. Is there something Patricia did that the patriots can borrow from here? Yeah. There absolutely is in just the line. Detroit's personnel is very similar and its construction to New England's person. I don't think it's as good, but they have the same type of players, and they run the same types of scheme. And none of this is a coincidence. Check has his philosophy. Patricia assume that philosophy from Bella check and is applied in Detroit. He's obviously got a ways to go to get to where New England is. But what they did. Let's understand Gary. I. The profile of both of these teams. The Rams are relatively simple. In fact, they don't do a whole lot offense of -ly there. An outside zone running team built on a play action passing game. So they beat you on first and second down out of outside zone looked where everybody's stretching to the perimeter. And you're either running or throwing it. The patriots slash lions are a man coverage based team with one deep safety. So those are the profiles missing anything there. I do I do not think you are. So that's what you expecting to see when these teams face off what the lions did in that game back in week thirteen instead of showing one deep safety and playing man coverage in they did that throughout some of the game because you still going to run your staple foundational concepts..

"Of our show it is very special Christmas episode. And if you listen until the end, I think he will understand the true meaning of Christmas. I am Gary gramling he is and even we are through week sixteen Sunday on let's face. It. Broncos raiders really is to invest in that game. So kinda through the meaningful part of weeks. Extemely back up there. I'm I have full plans to watch every snap back game. Because my family shifted the big Christmas event to Christmas Eve afternoon. Do too many conflicting stenciling issues in not mind because I would certainly prefer regular Christmas schedule. So I will be home at Christmas Eve treating it as a regular work night. Watching a sad Monday night football game, probably by myself as I think about gosh, I'm gonna I'm looking forward to that game. Like, you'll be alone or as in you will be the only person on the planet watching that game. I don't know if the broadcast gonna show up there'd be one in the same. It'd be one in the same. Let's let's start with the the Sunday slate here and what went down this weekend. We're going to touch on the Saturday games to toward the end of the show since you probably have heard plenty about those with the starting on Sunday night the Seahawks. Get it done at home against the chiefs here. This was you'll see the final score, and you know, three eight thirty one. That's that's kind of a lot of points. But Seahawks got a lead in this one. And they kind of maintained it they were up fourteen ten at halftime. And they they didn't trail again in this one. This was sort of their style of football here. We talked about that on Thursday, whether they can take the air out of the ball dominate time of possession and keep Mahomes off the field and win that way. And I would say to a certain degree they did. But the other thing we talked about on Thursday is alternately when you're a run first off. Offense, unless you're going to let your quarterback run double digit times a game. Like the ravens do or like the Panthers. Do if you're not going to do that. Then you're only as good as the passing game you build off of your running game. And the biggest difference in this game to me. Gary were the plays. Russell Wilson made. And they weren't all just Madden plays built off. There wasn't all play action or whatever. Some just great quarterbacking. I came away from this thing like these stupid. I don't think I'm not picking them for anything in the playoffs. Defense is one of the worst in the league. But then the more I thought about it one of those guys supposed to what are the backup cornerback supposed to Russell Wilson made some indefensible throws down the stretch. And I thought that was the Chris Carson was great that set it up but Wilson's throws in the second half. That was the difference in the game. Yeah. I mean, I thought they were a couple opportunities in sort of the meat of this game. Second quarter third quarter of the chiefs had a chance to get off the field and and look charter Charis ward. And and transmit the specially they rough time out there. I mean, those are those are backup players who couldn't match up with what the Seahawks had it at wide receiver tonight. But the chiefs couldn't end dries when they had an opportunity to end drives. And by the end of the game. It was, you know, even if the defense was like you said they were playing better. But Russell Wilson just made too many plays down the stretch. And the question now becomes can he do that against a quality defense because Kansas City aside from Chris Jones and sometimes most times just in Houston? They don't have a lot that threatened you defensively, Eric, berries, great, but a safety can only threaten you so much..

"Vocal to the QB. Monday morning, NFL podcasts. I'm Gary gramling. He is Andy annoyed. We are into the stretch run. Andy, we're in the thick of it. I was that for dramatic set for this week show. This is a really good week. It's great time of year. They're all really good weeks from here. No strength schedule stuff because we had some upsets again today, and I'm excited for these last two weeks. But I'm more excited. Talk about what happened in week fifteen. Yeah. This was I I'm fishery proclaiming this a good football day on Sunday. We we had we had some some teams that were on the brink bounceback with big winds. We had some big upsets, and we had a bit of nostalgia including the Sunday night game where Nick foles recaptures his magic from last January. The eagles go to LA and beat the Rams somewhat handily got Harry at the end, but this is handily. Handily? Yeah. Very hairy. That was very hairy. It put the organ, Harry. It's the NFL everyone makes company. That's how you said in a static for Nick foles. Chris Paul worst. Sure, seeing the style GIC didn't meet. I mean, I was it's almost like we're thinks that fulls is the better emotional choice for the team than Wentz. I'll say this about foles it has a touch. It has a touch of Tibo mania. Well, each people mania was so far off the charring much of it. Yes. Oh, boy, people media made no sense. And after a while, you just had to sort of just close your eyes and just let it take you where it was gonna take you which was to division around. You mean pray for mania? But wait. Well, yeah. No foles religious as well. So I'm sure a lot of Tibo fans, are fools fans. But here's where it's different Tim Kibo couldn't play professional football. Nick foles won a Super Bowl. And that's the fine line between that people Manian whatever you're trying to compare to here. I'm you say, it's just it's one of those things you can get excited about it. It's a weird underdog story and buttery everyone. Everyone's while not everyone. But like ninety eight percent of the NFL is is is devoutly Christian. So I don't want to say is those those are the two guys the rest of them are I don't know. Well, he wears the WWE JD wristband on his rowing hand. I know because I remember thinking, and it's a red one. So I guess that's not a uniform violation league dairy to go after that. But it probably prefer green one on his wrist. But you want I wondered if it ever impacts is throwing point one percent. I'm surprised it's not on his. Left hand. But maybe there's something there. I don't know. You know, what I thought was really interesting though, about this foles emotional side discussion thing was the point that Collins worth made about how Sean Jeffrey was basically happier to have full in the lineup. I'll tell you what happens on these production. I got a chance to sit in on the Monday night production meetings years ago, and I was in college, and these I didn't sit in on the part where the announcers talked to the team. So it was just the announcers talking with the producers amongst themselves. But the teams give these guys almost unfiltered information the guys trust anyway. So I'm sure sure Troy Aikman gets unfiltered information, Colin Firth. I'm sure would Romo does these high level color commentators respected play by play men and the teams trust look, the NFL and the networks are a partnership we trust our partners aren't going to screw us..

"I mean, nobody has come as close to beating the Texans as the Broncos have in recent weeks misfield, they would've won. I mean the chiefs game they lose at Kansas City by seven I hear you on the three game win streak, but two of those wins against the charges in the Steelers. We saw the charge Steelers play on Sunday night. Those are two legitimate playoff teams. I I think they lost that sealers game by by multiple touchdowns. When when you take away the terminal, listen, it's the Broncos minus. Four. But it doesn't matter. Let's we have to because it's the guy growling all the Gary gramling bowl. He had these teams basically in the NFC title game for the season lions, minus three at cardinals, total forty and a half. It's all you had I had this as the Super Bowl. And also the Pro Bowl. It's all yours is just going to be all cardinals players and a lions players. I I do wanna point out really quick because I got an Email the other day from someone who's like you pick the cardinals alliance to make the Super Bowl. That is obviously NFL fan. But we know we know all the nation is locked in on Philly. Dallas at four twenty five you'll have the choice arizon- on your television break it down. I'd I mean, I I guess I like I should just pick a push. You should absolutely pick a push. Can you get like eight to one on picking push at like William Hill or something like that? L I twenty four twenty one Detroit. Got I I'm I'm leaning lines in this. I'm leaning why this one I do think the cardinals are kind of there such a mess offensively. You know, Detroit. Suddenly can't block anyone they've invested so much off the line, and they've just been overwhelmed the last two weeks. I just I it doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't make sense the kind of football been playing and I think they get right against the bad team. I think they win this by touch now. But you can't sorry guys. He can't feel great about either team what big plan big party at the gramling house. And it's gonna excuse me. I'm going to have a giant bottle of Jim beam in front of me. And I think every boxes for every every time there that on the boxes that is every time. There's a successful snap. I'm going to drink. The we gotta get box office people fill in the boxes, Scott. What do you got on this game? This is as bad game as you can get at this point in the season lions one in five straight up and against the spread in the last six you've got the cardinals or two and five straight up. And four against the spread in their last seven. I am just I'm rooting for Gary to have a good time during this game. I thanks brother. You're welcome. You're welcome. It's it's garbage game. I had to take it. I would take the cardinals in this one just getting points at home..

"QB NFL. Deep dive podcast. I am Gary gramling he is Amy Benoy to we are going to be previewing some of the week fourteen headline games. Not only. Good games any. But a couple matchups where you have monster. Offenses versus monster defenses is gonna be a fun week. Yeah. That's always the best of all worlds. And you get sides of the ball that matchup really well bears. And Rams, of course, that might be the league's best defense against the league's best offense. We've got a few K and they got ravens and chiefs that might be best defense personnel offense. We'll get we have some really good ones this week. And I think fire if I'm not mistaken not to get too far ahead, but isn't the week fifteen schedule an all timer in terms of loaded gains. I want to see when I heard it. I was blown away. I think we've got to have chargers chiefs that week there were several we had two weeks of great football. Coming up though who else was it week fifteen. It was football Steelers. Patriots steelers. Saints panthers. Eagles ram deal. Yeah. Yeah. It's good now in Sates in all timer. It's good. It's pretty good thing. That's all timer for it. Turns a playoff seeding. I guess Panthers. Aren't as attractive? Now's. Well. Yeah. I guess it does depend on what the Panthers. What are the colts do colts? The Cowboys yields beat the Cowboys colts win this week. That becomes really interesting roadsides. Raiders Bengals out of the gym. But I assume you would recommend we wait and do the week fifteen show in week fifteen. That's you'd like to talk about these other games. In the meantime, let's let's see week fourteen instead of trying to project all the week fourteen games. And then quickly trying to preview week fifteen. We'll start will be fourteen and we'll start with a Sunday night. Or that is the Chicago Bears hosting loss Angeles Rams. You know, like you said this is one of those two matchups this week. That's really a big time offense versus big time defense. But I wanna quickly talk about the other side of the ball here. We're going to have a little Aaron Donald versus Khalil Mack debate. But I just want to ask you, Andy. And at the time of our taping. We tape Wednesday night. We don't have a one hundred percent clear picture of whether it will be Mitchell Trubisky or not for the bears on Sunday night. My question you, Andy is is this Rams defense as you see? They're very talented in spots. They can they can give you some big plays Trubisky is a guy who can we've seen him create. He's a very creative runner hill. Make something out of nothing with his legs. This is also Rams defense at sees. Russell Wilson twice a year. Now. Now, the Seahawks put up points again against the Rams this year a in large part because of their run game. The Rams don't stop the run. Well is this a week where the bears can scratch some things out offense and and put up maybe thirty points against this. This Rams defense. It's hard to answer. Because one thing that has surprised me is that we have basically seen two different bears offenses which Bisky out there. They're not running the same stuff with chase. Daniel every team every smart team is going to accommodate its backup quarterback a little bit. I would've thought there'd be more carryover given that Daniel's been with Matt Nagy so long. So a big question is if Trubisky will be in or out, and if I'm the Rams, I think I prepare as if he will be in because you get you get more of an expansive scheme. Anyway, you're better off preparing for more than less. I think in this case, but that's a that's a hard one to answer. Gary. I. What will see regardless of who the quarterback is one thing. The bears light to do is put all their receivers to one side of the field..

"And you know, they just kind of like the price, and obviously Damon Harrison is still a really good player and his just cleared up. His cap hit his seven million next season and nine point two five million in twenty twenty which is the last year of his deal. He's twenty nine years old now. So that's not an unreasonable price to pay for him the science of Esther Williams this off season. It's a big price. So it's a big price to pay for a run defender. The science of Esther Williams us offseason, who's not. As good as Harrison, but they got him at a much lesser rates. He hasn't played a whole lot. A Sean Robinson will be due for a second contract soon. They're not going to give it to them. So I guess the more you think about the move make sense. But it doesn't correct. A big overarching issue thing that keeps sitting in the back of my mind as I root for Gary gramling Super Bowl prediction NFC championship in to come true. Which is I don't see how Detroit can go very far with such an inept pass rush. They have absolutely nothing in their pass rush. Matt Patricia gets done and other ways of patriots were like that too. But you've gotta be able to do a little bit more than nothing rushing the passer. No, I don't think they can against a good old line. Look, there's something me said. And again, I look I'm not gonna sit here and say they actually have a good pass Russia. You get a run stuffer in there. I think to an extent it frees up the other guys on the defensive line to to maybe focus on getting up the old a little bit more. But the other thing I mean, this is look this is the Matt Patricia m oh, let's get the big guys in the middle at stop the run. Let's let's bend not break. And when we get to the red zone. Let's let's get a little more creative than and maybe they do more blitzing do some things a little more exotic down there now that they sort of are comfortable with the guy anchoring the middle of that defensive line. And they also diversify their fronts just enough that they're hard to play against two. They don't blitz very much. But they don't give you the same look either. So it's not just plugging in big guys and owning the trenches and they can't run the ball on us. They want athlete big is because they sometimes ask those men to play to gaps or one gap. And you're not quite sure which is which so the more athleticism that you have at size think Malcolm Brown the first round pick for the patriots. That was a big deal. They went out and traded for Danny Shelton that kind of scheme demand size and talent. So. In that sense. The Harrison, I'm making a terrible case for a guy that doesn't understand the trade saying, it's not a great move in that sense. It also is a pretty good move. So I think Harrison fits with the lions do overall. They're just but to answer your thinking Jerry Davis is best pass rusher right now. Gary. Yeah, that's unfortunate. 'cause he's also their best, man. Demand defender underneath can't be those two things at once. Well, they host the Seahawks this weekend. And this is an interesting game Seahawks. Bouncing back a little bit. You know, they are they are in a position where they can potentially make a run out of wild guard. Obviously the Rams are gonna run away with that with that division. They're sitting at three and three right now. And a lot of people thought this would be law season for them. They're run game is what has been fueling them. And obviously the lions just just beefed up their run defense here. So I guess you like that match up a little more for the lions at this point. You do. I think you have to have Russell Wilson involved in the running game. Not him running the ball but him as a threat running the ball which cardinals or the Seahawks. I thought cardinals because that's the best game. They've done it this season they killed zone without a few weeks ago. But that's what the Seahawks need to do. I impressed with their own line. It's clearly a better coach June it this year than it has been before..

"Every get your shows. Mitchell Trubisky is put up great numbers of past two weeks, but is the young quarterback really getting better plus look at a Cowboys dominant defense and upcoming matchup king that saints number one scoring offense versus the raven number one scoring events. And we also have many questions jopacks future forty Niners first, rounders and automatic. First down to the penalty. Let's rhythm. It's all on the NFL Dodd podcast. Hello and welcome to the m QB NFL deep dive podcast. I'm Gary gramling. He is. And even if a couple of weeks, seven headlining games to talk about. We also have been E mail bag coming up, but Andy were. We're starting. I just wanna point this out. We have gotten an influx of Besseges from angry bears fans who are saying. We are Mahomes apologists at the QB and we are Trubisky haters. I don't know why that would be because we did some stuff hundred Gumbo lead up to the raft. He's a very nice man. Yep, he knives over. Yeah, we bonded over how I met. Your mother had happened to see every episode that year. I didn't sit and watch it, but it was one of those. I have it playing when I unloaded the dishwasher and that kind of thing, and we got along quite well. Here's part of the reason that as much as I like Mitchell Trubisky that people would say, we're Mahomes apologised Trubisky haters Mahomes is significantly better than Trubisky and you have to start there? Yes, that is good place to start. We're going to start a, we're going to start patriots bears here. That's the first game. We are breaking down the turn of the one o'clock's on Sunday, a rare one o'clock game for the New England Patriots. But let's talk about Trubisky that because there's, there's there's no denying. Statistically he has been very impressive over last games that would be the blow out over Tampa and his numbers were good against Miami. My my opinion, Andy, my unprofessional opinion is that he is missing. Too many wide open throws still, and he got away with a couple really ugly, throw his back across the field on Sunday that obvious no show up on the stats. But maybe that's just me what. What have you thought of his most recent two games here? Yeah. You mentioned that on the the when we recorded Sunday night or very early Monday morning and I put on the dolphins film and kind of thought. All right. Let's say I'm gonna. I'm gonna be the naysayer Gary here because I can see everything and see the all twenty two. He didn't get to look at that on Sunday, but no, you are exactly, right. I mean, he was he did miss on some throws. He did miss on some reads, there's some stuff to work on with Trubisky his pocket movement kind of ties to a lot of this as well. None of this is abnormally mean we're talking about fundamental mortar backing issues, and it'd be it'd be unusual if the guy or developed here than less developed. It's not, you know, it's hard thing. It's nuanced quarterbacking, but I do think he has a ways to go..

"'em QB. NFL Dodd podcast. I am Gary gramling he is and even away we have a couple of big ones and we'd five here Andy, including that algae's a Jaguars chiefs is like a dream matchup right now. Maybe maybe Jaguars rans or chiefs Rams, but something about the defense of Jaguars against the the speed and firepower of the chiefs has just this game is absolutely delicious. Absolutely. It's it's the AFC's best offense versus the AFC AFC's best defense, maybe the NFL's best offenses and defenses, and it'll be a lot of fun to see the Patrick Mahomes hype. I absolutely understand it. I am contributing to it. All you can do is tap the breaks at this point because there's nothing more you can say about the guy. You can't heap more praise on them. So we probably Gary need to discuss what's the appropriate way to tap the breaks. What does the future look like from here? Remember Kansas City last year, their offense. It wasn't like this, but they started five, no, and they were all this misdirection l. they're wonderful, Andy Reed's a genius, and they went five and seven after that. And we're very average. So it's a one week at a time thing, and this is by far their biggest test. But yet again, here they are getting another cover three defense to they play these styles of defense every week. It seems like will. Let's we're starting with that game. Obviously, in case you can figure it out Jaguars chiefs. What happened? Monday night. What were the Broncos able to do the Broncos? They contain Patrick Mahomes now, granted homes through four, three hundred four yards and touchdown in a comeback victory in week one this year we'd all be really excited about Patrick Mahomes the fact that he didn't put up other worldly numbers in this game, and the fact that the chiefs had to come back and it was a it was sort of skinny, teeth win. Is there any the Broncos did differently to relatively contain this chiefs offense? I, there's an aggressiveness to what they did and the way they played. We think of it like man, coverage, zone coverage. There's a lot of overlap in the NFL and some teams employ man principles, or they play it, like man out of their zone. They're physical. They remember no area of the field has ever caught a pass in the history of football. Men catch passes. So you're zones are relative to the man you're trying to guard within your zone. I think the Broncos took that principle pretty well on Monday night with the chiefs and all the smoke and mirrors and window dressing. They do when you have matchup principles and what you're doing that does minimize the impact of the smoke in mere stuff because you're worried about your guy rather than the big picture of things. That's what that's what teams did. Last June. We said, Kansas City, got average in the second half of the season, more team started playing man-to-man against them. So I think there was a match up feel to what Denver did the interesting thing Gary is Jacksonville, they're not really a matchup defense there. So. So fast in zone coverage that they don't. They almost don't have to match up at times because they, they converge on areas so quickly and they closed down window so quickly. But I, I would imagine they're going to want to be a little bit more assertive in had those at least have the corners up on those wide receivers this week. Yeah. I mean, tyreek hill wasn't wasn't a big downhill ski downfield factor in that Monday night game, Travis..

"Question number five. And that one is from Josh. That's Ajay MAC fifty to eighty. The Broncos are in the dreaded land of seven and nine eight, nine and seven is Elway failing the GM. He hasn't done much minus manning. It is totally fair to question as quarterback decision making Brock Osweiler and look. They did let him go, but they were willing to pay him after twenty fifteen. And obviously that wouldn't have been a good idea. They drafted prac- Paxton Lynch high. That was a mess. They bumbled around for a couple years that great defense and were unable to capitalize on having that group together after they won the Super Bowl. So there are fair questions asked here that said he did win a Super Bowl. He on the pro side is in a very good job of bringing guys. Free agency is littered littered with landmines and they were able in one class to bring in Emmanuel. Sanders keep Talita markets where that's pretty good, and they really believe in the rookie group this year like an and you see it. I think already with Bradley Chubb, you see it already with Portland Sutton Sutton. You see it with Philip Lindsay Royce Freeman, this has a chance to be a turning point for John. John Elway all teams go through those ups and downs. They all go through their ups and downs. I think this is the groupie has group has now like had some ups from a personnel standpoint from a player acquisition acquisition standpoint. When I got there. Has had some down sense and this draft class that he has right now has the potential least to be the kind of turning point now or maybe he gets hot for a couple years again and is able to. Put players in place that maybe can get the most out of what you've got left of the prime of guys, you know, like a von Miller, like Brandon marshal. So I'm hopeful about where they are from a young town with their young town, given what they were able to do in the draft last year and how those guys are performing right now. Final question of the week, and I'm only bringing this up because Henry my producer over here told me to bring it up and the question doesn't make sense, but we'll ask it anyway. Right? David at AFC CB ten seventy nine is Patrick Mahomes Elizardo. I'm not going to answer that. I'm gonna leave it for you guys. Think about that. How about that? Appreciate you guys coming out. "By one of your host, Jimmy traina three, no last week on your best bets. Gotta get that right out at the top. Joining me as always 'em senior editor, Gary gramling, Gary. How are you? I'm good two and one two in one of the best bets cardinals covered my mind. Outright. So it'll week. So all of a sudden they're Michael. I going to say, I don't think he'd be my car. Yes. Also here, Gary brother, DR. F sports farm, managing editor, Scott. Gramling Scott. How are you? I'm doing well, Jimmy. How are the best best Leslie? They were. They were pretty solid for now four, and that's pretty solid. That's pretty solid. That is solid is gets gets would have been twelve now, but you know it was you go for. No, you give me more than pretty solid. You know, I'm nine one now through the first three weeks. No, I haven't even had them as best bit since week. One. Believe it or not, but you know, there's part of me that almost wants to not do anymore best bets for the rest of the year. And then when we lead into next year, we can say all accurately and factually that I was ninety percent against the spread is only one way to go now, but we, we will try to not have that happen here in week four personally, I do not love the board this week. I was struggling even to find more than one best bet what you guys think overall on the board this week tougher board than last guy. I have to say. I mean, my best bets last week I had the Panthers. I had the ravens. I had the Seahawks and I had the cardinals getting the really easy with cardinals a little bit of a sweat, but everything else that never seemed in though. What was the game is a pick. Six. I got called back because of a flag wasn't that that was one a little tiny? No, you're right. You're right. Gave me a little scary. Easy when is for you. There rest were double digit wins on single. Favorites, and you always kind of like that. I mean, you at the dolphins one that was softens Panthers. I think we all have the Panthers last, had the dolphins, and then I nailed a bills Vikings under which I called perfectly except I just had the teams wrong because it doesn't matter what. Carolina Carolina. All I got to bring in the board. I'm very sorry about Monday night dealers on Monday night and I missed the Jaguars I, I went overboard with the Bortles hype. And did you go? The Steelers wasn't Miami now. I wanna sealers my, no, I won't Steelers Carolina, and and then I miss the Jaguars was what happened to the Jaguars last week. I still can't figure what we talked about last week. You guys were a little bit on the fact that now they're in aggressive team and of Doug Marrone. They're not aggressive. They were aggressive against the patriots, and you thought it was a new thing with the new Hackett. They'll one for job. There, Doug Marrone team. They're going to be conservative crummy team that doesn't do anything on offense. More weeks, not we will..

"Walk them everybody to the QB gambling podcast. I'm your host, not really a wholesome McCall host, but I've intros also host Jimmy traina with my co hosts senior editor of, I'm QB, Gary gramling, his brother managing editor of the DR exports farm Scott gramling week tune the NFL. I went to one of my best bets last week, gentlemen, had you guys do three and one for me and gear to into Stephen Ed book? I mean, you always have to throw the caveat Jim. We all had the giants, right? And if they just what were they about a foot short of that two point conversion. Would've would've pushed. We got a podcast that we gotta stick to the lines and all that. But NFL coaches still have no clue about went to go for two. There was no way they should have worked. Because if you missed it to you down, five Jacksonville comes down, kicks feel. Now you're down. You have to touch on to just kick the extra point. Go down for this ten minutes left in the game. NFL coaches still clueless with the two. I would have gone for two. I wouldn't have handed the ball to the guy who was out of breath after just running yards or whatever it was. I know it wasn't a or touchdown, but the amount of yard he ran get into the end zone. I don't think you just handed to the guy a two point conversion anyway. Cost me from a perfect week, but, hey, we're moving. So I, I had winners with the Rams and bears push with the Broncos. Lost the giants. You will your pick Scott. I, the Rams Panthers and as the free world knows I loved the chiefs and Gary, what did you have last week? Oh gosh, let's get. Let's get a car out of the way and never speak of it. Again, I I had the Panthers and the I lost giants to the Panthers the winner. And who is my other one that was. The Rams. Sorry. Yes, the Rams. If you go back into the archives, Gary to teams, Gary was on in the preseason where our is on Detroit, but we'll, we'll skip that. We'll get right to the week. Two. I'm jumping off one bandwagon and stop the lions sticking with the lines. Now that's a tease for the show. Speaking of the show, this is the QB gambling podcast. "Lami look. It's also a positive are right, and it's a counter argument is thinking if they really did wanna, maybe replace Wilson, but weren't sure they could. They probably would scout Josh Allen privately so that they don't create the very rumors that you and I are discussing if they wanted to create the allusion that they want to keep you. Maybe they would. I think the counter to that counter is at Josh Allens camps, say to Seattle, because Josh Allen was very busy before the draft like any QB prospect was, and they could say to him, we don't have time day we, we don't have time. We got to meet with other teams that need QB's now on our drafting in the top fifteen. So. But yeah, you're right. And and if Seattle didn't want to be wanted to be known that there may be sniffing around other keys. John Schneider probably wouldn't have been at the pro day. I don't know. I, I use your, I don't know to use the Gary gramling phrase. Yeah. We're, I was gonna say we are. We are talking about this late in the show basically because we haven't at the QB we have yet to confirm the report and not that then bolan isn't someone who is, you know he's in. He's an excellent reporter. He's one of the best out there, but we don't. We don't have any real direction. We don't know who the source is. I could have been some nothing, but I think it's an interesting conversation to have maybe about. Well. Is it? Yeah, I mean, does is it coming out? Is. I had that conversation a lot. Now it's we're having about Aaron Rodgers now. But Rogers, it's it's not as much. It's just more of a conversation wind, will he be paid what he's worth? No one's really arguing that he should or shouldn't be. They everyone thinks he's going to be number one paid QB Russell Wilson. I think a lot of people will think that, but I don't think every football person will think that and was Russell Wilson's greatest value to the Seahawks in and enough himself those first years in his career or was it that he had a cheap contract opposite a star studded roster. Yeah. Oh, I'm sure if nothing else, John Schneider is looking back at those years and saying, wasn't that nice when we had a quarterback who was making six hundred thousand dollars a year. Let's well, let's sort of before we moved on from from the from the quarterbacks here. I did wanna talk teddy Bridgewater briefly. There's all this buzz teddy Bridgewater jets want to want to trade him. It seems like there's, I mean, there's just no market for them. And we've, we've talked on the show about teddy Bridgewater and some of the shortcomings he has. He also, I mean, look, he, he's a, he had some positive qualities as well, but the lack of arm strength is is limiting to what you can do with him. Gosh, I, I mean, I don't know what, what's the value of a guy like that who a lot of teams would probably look at it and say, like, boy, we'd love to have him as a as a want Want him him back. back. I back up and I. Any other options with them. So fifth round pick fourth round pick, maybe if you feel that you're a contender and you just want a super insureds policy a backup to me, that's the teddy Bridgewater disc, the odds. And I know he's played well, this preseason, the odds of him being better than he was in Minnesota right now are very slim, and I didn't think he was particularly potent in Minnesota. No. I mean, obviously the fact that we have nice, it's been it's no. Relatively and no disrespect to the Marcus lease Al getting guy. Guidance for Washington, but it's been relatively healthy preseason. I feel like I don't think there's been a lot of awful. I watch it so carefully as time here 'cause my preview for the magazine and we have to update this stuff last-second if a guy gets hurt. So I just root for no injuries even more than I usually would. And I feel like it's been a successful summer for that..

"They are eighteen and two in their last twenty, which includes sixteen and one in the last seventeen against AFC west foes, the one loss being that thirty one to thirty loss in Oakland. And again, that kind of joke the end of the Thursday night game last year. I mean this team, Andy Reid, just he owns this division. I don't see how the chargers are favored over the chiefs to win the division and over eight. It's just to me, that's easy money. You gotta pay the, you know, it's minus one fifty, but. What do we have to every year? It just seems like this team's being tabbed to be slightly above average and the end of being dominant, especially in the division, please give me the chiefs over eight one thing you paying minus one fifty on that, but you seem very confidence about the one fifteen. Gary AFC west. I'm going Oakland under eight plus one hundred there. And if I'm missing something here with the raiders line now, Derek Carr, slid back a little bit last year. Do you think Jon Gruden can unlock something the the look is a bad offense, bad system last year Gruden probably will be something of improvement, but how much improvement, not that much. Amari Cooper cylinder Jeevan it's it's not a, it's not a great team or you gonna give it to marshawn Lynch? Three hundred times probably not at this point in his career and the defense is an issue. You know, obviously we got a lot of time between now one week one. We'll Khalil Mack. Get back in there. I actually don't really see a path to a to a good resolution on that contract. It Derek zeal. So backloaded. I don't know how they can get in there. I think he's gonna miss regular season games on top of that. I mean, it's. It's a good division chiefs are good charge. Good. I think Denver's. Good. And once you get league average quarterback play from case keenum. I don't see how Oakland's numbers that high, let alone. You know, you're getting the plus one hundred on on eight there and we continue the streak of picking all different teams. I'm going Broncos over seven, Denver had the worst quarterback play probably any team in the league list year. Trevor simian outside Cleveland. Let's be honest Jimmy, while you Kaiser's stunk worse quarterback in recent member, Trevor simian has no bid had been no business in the NFL ish year. So the juicy on fortunately on the over seven minus one forty now who would have thought you would have said this September, twenty seventeen. But case keenum is such a major upgrade for them. Quarterback gets not even funny. I mean he's three four win difference right now because they still have a very, very good defense, so great, great defense improve quarterback Ogden over seven. I think they can get eight wins, you know, still have a good home field there in Denver. So I'm gonna go with the Broncos. So let me recap the AFC before we go the NFC Gary gramling. Over six and a half in the dolphins over six and a half in the Bengals over eight on the titans throws in and under eight on the raiders Scott gramling over jets six under on the ravens eight over eight, four, the Houston, Texan, eight, nine, eight and a half. I'm sorry and a half and probably is best bet he loved it chiefs over eight. I'm going over eleven for the patriots under five and a half Browns under. Six and a half of the colts over on the Broncos. Seven. We now go to the NFC. We start in the east, the Super Bowl champion eagles over under his ten, the Cowboys, eight giants and Redskins both at seven on the over unders. Gary Gramley NFC east, excuse me. Yeah, I'm going giants. I don't want to go on a long rant here about Ben mcadoo. McAfee was overmatched as a as a head coach, but I think people kind of forget his system was not good. His system was built for Aaron Rodgers and they try to have you. I manning run. It's much eyeso- routes. They had OPEC junior can be guys on one. No one else on the team can. Once Beckham went down last year, it was completely broken. What they were trying to do Shurmur such an upgrade. They are not to mention you bring him Barkley. You not only Barclay alone upgrades a doormat run game, but Barclays a huge weapon. In the past game. Now you have Beckham and grim Barclay on the field..
