"That that was a that was quite the party I must say because the up on the upper level I'm with my like Buffalo Bills, friends, and even Josh Allen came in. I was like Whoa Josh sounds here. But I'm with J K and and all those guys and then I went to the restroom and came back and I couldn't find them. They left and now it's pouring. So you wait for a while you look for wait for the car to come it's not coming and then you get on your phone you try to get a signal out of there when it's raining and when everybody's on their phone looking way to get out. It was I think as it was basically monitored. It was a shit show. There was and you guys went crazy with it and I was like Oh. Nice. Charming pictures. You got your lap. Yeah. Really funny. I? Think. You will shooter always does love that. Yes. A little done. It actually wise was such a bummer that the hurricane came in 'cause party was the would like Frankie Service often. Turned into an absolute. It was it was fun We'll look we appreciate you coming on. We we really have been for I. It's been twenty, four, twenty, five years instead of. The movie I mean I there's no way you guys could have known I guess that it was gonna be this iconic. Did you have any kind of sense of that when you were when you were making it or shooting because not most quoted I mean added shack but it's Yeah it's it's No one has any idea when they're making a movie how much I mean unless of course, it's marvel movie when you know you have a built in audience like this, but this is. Funny Comedy About Golf and you don't know how it's going to do. But I think again, the power of an the cycle of television people have caught onto it and it's you know it's free. It's right there. So that they can see what a funny movie it was already made less than fifty million when it came out but. It has gone on and has got legs and they say, which is very, very cool and I hope this. Great. Talking to you guys too. But I hope that this PJ, George UK twenty one as well. Get so many people I gotta say lined up I mean they're they're licensed pros. There's is twelve M Justin Thomas, of course, Damning Champ Ryan to Shambo Matt Kuchar Kevin Kisner. Gary Woodward Billy hersal pulled third t Tony Female. Jim BUREAUC- Sergio Donna to Patrick can't think. So you know it's just. It's just a great thing and I hope that it did people embrace it get their dame's early 'cause it drops. Friday. What. You can get get the game. So that's going to be pretty exciting I am will have legs like you said I I think this is I think this is a game people are really looking forward to I think it's the first versions of game with the Golf Club Twenty nineteen and all this stuff before that it leads such a good groundwork for like a really tight knit like diehard community of video game. Golf. Players, and then now to a the whole version like everyone coming together to make this one with licensed players licensed golf courses. It's like it's more for the average like video game and also has the aspects where like like you were saying before it's if you put it on harder difficulties, you legitimately like if you're a scratch handicap, if you're like a scratch Golfer in this video game on hard difficulty, it's essentially the same thing as being one in real life. That's how that's how real they made the game but also they've so many things into it that make you feel like you can just go there. I played the other day I shot a fifty nine and then I bumped up. Yeah. But and then I bumped the difficulty and I shot one hundred and two like it really is realistic version of garbage at one day you can have it one day can and they've totally made that in this game is a I can't tip my hat to them anymore than I am already and I cannot wait to play tomorrow night or tonight when this episode drops, I cannot wait to play and I can't wait for everyone else on Friday night to see how good this game well said well, said because I think if you went that has that kind. Of Capability this game is is for the office to the to the scraps Golfer and that is that's quite that's quite they built this thing really really really well and Oh my God you. You imagine the trash talk and it goes on at your party and what goes on these four sons all around the world they're just going to eat this up and then they'll turn it up next week and then you can design your own little green they had to break up towards the water towards the mountains just a mess with your players it's gotta be very interesting. Almost unlimited possibilities. Game I'm pumped, I can't wait to get to play a lot of course I. think the coolest part is, of course, is how options are always planning national last night we got I've squeak coming out so So we are excited we're going to we're going to be streaming lot. They will have to play with you at some point Chris and get out there again shooter. That'd be fun I'd enjoy it. Sweep wilbanks. Up. Yeah. My pleasure guys. Thank you for having me and have a good time on the. PGA Tour took eight twenty one. All. Right guys. Thanks. Thanks..

"It's good to be feisty and hateful embrace the hate as we say so. Our poll today is besides the leafs is. I thought that would destroy the pool. Besides the leafs. What Pro Sports Team do you hate the most? I guess for You James. Because I don't know the answer but being an oiler fan. Can I say Calgary flames okay? Yep I'm not. I love sports like you do but in the day it was. I'll tell you in the day it was and it brought out the worst. Steve brought out the worst in me. I've got to admit when when The eighties late eighties flames. Who were who was it. Was a great team came to town. You'd sit down your seats and everyone would look at each other rubbing their hands together going. Yeah I hope someone dies here tonight. What we'll show you know that's eight it was. I don't know if it's so much haters. Love to love to beat a certain team. You know love you know. That's how I look at that thing. Who which which team do you love to see? Get get pounded by your by your favorite team. And and certainly it was Calgary. There's no doubt about it rolls days and the fights were great. The hockey was like high-level rough tumble you know rumble hockey man. It was it was crazy. It was crazy. I always come down to whatever your FA- hated team is. It COMES DOWN TO K. Take your favorite team and then decide. What team has faced your team the most in the playoffs and generally they'll get you in the vicinity of the team. You hate the most. The leafs are right there number one for me but they're excluded so I'd go to the next guy on the board and actually the team. The Senate play played the most in the playoffs. And that'll be the Pittsburgh Penguins. I really dislike them a question. You know it's a great poll question and at some point Steve. I'm saying we have to address this thing. Where a well documented stevie about your love of the Toronto Maple leafs and you're not the only one right who knew despises this team. And why why do you hate this team and I know a lot of press guys talk to them right who are on the inside and a lot of them. Don't like the leafs because of because of this. We are an elite team. We're above any other team. They make apparently very difficult to get interviews. Where other teams? Don't they crack the door wide open? They're happy to get the coverage whether it's good or bad or otherwise so a lot of it might stem from the media. I don't know this this hatred for the leafs. And but conversely Steve. There are massive amounts of leaf fence. I wonder I wonder Steve. If there wouldn't be as as many haters or as many lovers of the leafs if their if their nickname wasn't the maple leafs. If it was the Toronto bulldogs and wouldn't have felt for me. It wouldn't for you I but I I'm looking at the people who love the team who I always drove me nuts stephen. We did the show in Ottawa. That that people were phony who've lived in Ottawa? Their whole life okay and our massive sports fans and their season ticket holders or ten games and do the right things that fans should do to support team Quantico. Yeah but I'm a leaf leaf guide through and through their my number one team. What what you live in town with an HMO team and a massive amount of kids that come forward who don't live in Toronto who are Li fence stemming from their parents. I guess brainwashed brainwashed. Yeah something like that. Well Team Steve. That's my point. Toronto Maple leafs. Baby was a brilliant name of the team back in the day and because of that they've got this absolute phenomenal number of fans around the world certainly Canada. They've got one hundred years of tradition behind them as well right and one generation to the next passing it down. If your friend candidate you cheered for the hands if you're English and candidate you cheered for the leafs and that's the way it was forever and that's been passed down generation after generation obviously the NHL expanded in nineteen sixty seven from the original six. And this kept getting bigger and bigger but those bloodlines and those ties to the past. Remain strong a lot of cases. Let's part I think why people who are from Ottawa and Cheer for the Senators. That's part of why they don't like the leafs in that. It's like you guys still hear you know Ron town. Don't this is Ottawa. And I think there's an resentment there there's resentment and you don't need to wonder about any of this because I've got all the answers for you. There's resentment about those early. Two thousand playoff failures going over four against the leafs in the playoffs and a Lotta hateful players on those particular leave teams as opposed to our. You know not so much anymore. I don't hate the players per se. There's the media factor you alluded to write that Everything is Toronto. Maple leafs if you go to you know go to sports net or tsn tsn has the sends games. It's still wall to wall leave coverage if you're a fan of another Canadian team you gone could leave coverage well the the numbers bear it out that business wise it makes sense but that doesn't mean sense fans after like it and then the fan base to close it out believe fan base has always been strutton about as though they've won twenty cups since expansion when they've won by the way zero since expansion and that bothers. I think fans as well that you sense fans watch that building when the leafs are visiting. Fill up ninety percent these days with Lee fans all of that. It's a it's a big cocktail of hatred for the leaks from the from those perspectives. Yeah and don't don't kid yourself. The other thing is ratings for television and it was always told to me and I don't think that stories in any different today that it will always be that way because of the massive amount of people who live in Ontario. I was talking to the brier. Was this week. Congratulations Newfoundland Brad. Gucci Wins Again. Give over Albert Gucci. You had a little shoot like a little ghost shoot. He used to do all those events as you know and I would mispronounce his name on Purpose Steve. Right just to bug him. And he's a great guy. Brad red goose shoes. Great guy and multi talented curler. And he's succeed Goshi and I do my little Mr Rogers thing you know. It's if you have a little Goshi Doll Furby furby member Randy. Furby was totally. Did you see the Tom? Hanks movie just as a side note real quick. No is it good. It's all right I I was expecting more. I always expect more when it's a Tom. Hanks lead film and he was very good in the role. I just thought it was a bit plotting. It was okay. It was fine and it had a really nice message but when it was all said and done I was like no that was that was a nice hour and a half spent but didn't didn't have any kind of Academy Award feel about it to me. Didn't okay yeah my five years ago when when what's his what's his first name. Is it bill rodgers Fred Fred Rogers? Yeah so he went in front of a committee to get funding because he was on public television of course right and they needed more dope when he started this thing and you should look it up on Youtube and the chair of this committee. Say Okay lay it on me hair sir. Sort of sarcastically. You're in you're you're looking for a million bucks or four or five million dollars and he says okay. If you'll just give me a few minutes of your time and Fred. Rogers sits up there and addresses this committee. Imagine the pressure you know and you know. They're all sitting up high Steve on a bench and and in. I don't know five six seven. Eight minutes He gets his Dole from level. Yeah it's it's very cool. Look it up on Youtube. His speech that he gave this committee cool in the guy. The guy says at the end I got I got him. He was almost emotional. The guy listening to Fred Rogers. Love for For Kids and what he did anyway. It's really cool and the guy says you got it you got it. We're giving you your money. You know. Anyway it was. It was excellent time for that kind of thing and I'll get us back on track in a second but I have nothing but the older I get to the less I'm concerned with cool and slick and hip and I'm more gravitating toward the kind you know there was there. Was this wonderful. Little story of one of those dog shows the other day and it was Was In new. Westminster is that what is called the dog. Show something on anyways. One of the standard dog shows. I don't know if was that one. But it's one where they're running around with their dogs on a leash and strutton and Blah Blah Blah anyway. So there's a little girl who's autistic and she's got a stuffed dog cute little dog. She's got a little pink dress going and let stuff dogs on a leash and this this judge comes over. And he's a he's an interesting character. He's all dressed in a in a big pink sued a crazy hat and stuff very flamboyant and the old me would say that. Guy. What is he doing? What's he up to? But this guy was so ultra kind went over as a judge and basically let the little girl do the spin around the track. If you will. Isn't that strutting her stuff and just gave her a big hug at the end. And my point is that even though the person may not be slick and cool and Blah Blah Blah like. I am all about people being kind to each other so fred Rogers and that character boy had all kinds of time for well. You don't let you speaking of sports right. There's so many beautiful things that happen in sports with young fans. You know the deal now that they're doing Steve in hockey games in in the pre game skate. The warm up is players are going over to the glass and kids now are bring signs. Can I get a stick and get a puck or an autograph or a Selfie or something and someone some kid put up a sign saying I'll I'll play rock paper scissors for puck and the guy came over right and he said okay a player skated and now they're all doing it right and it just I. Almost I almost cry when I walked a crier. And and it's SORTA like nothing else matters in sports right now. When you see that sort of stuff happened you know young kids and some them end up freaking out just beyond themselves that they got a puck or or or you know God forbid a stick or the guy's gloves or something you know but yeah humane memories for a lifetime. You made a fan for lifetime. That's how you get a fan base just little moments like that takes two seconds as well like if. I'm running an NGO marketing team. I'm absolutely encouraging that you see it in the warm up all the time now the sense of a couple of examples pop to mind immediately for me. I think about Bobby Ryan in one of the last games where there's a guy holding this little baby girl and he just basically high fives on the glass and the girl. This is all electric. Oh my God one of the guys on the ice. You know acknowledged me just acknowledging wasn't like anything happened. It was just a quick high five and there was another one where a little kid wanted. Brady could chuck to do a floss off last season. That whole and so two. So in the middle of the warmup Brady could shock and starts doing the floss and they took pictures afterward and became a real neat meam online and so that stuff is I guess it takes two seconds doesn't affect anything about the warm up but sometimes that's a more interesting storyline than they two and a half hours of hockey that we ended up watching that night right. I'll give you the two best. Steve and you're going to say absolutely. I know you know about the two best I've ever seen last year. It was at the Phoenix Open in a practice round. And Gary Woodward is playing the famous sixteen par-three where it's wrapped in an arena fans and he called a girl out. I don't know if it was preplanned. Not a girl. I believe she had down syndrome. Yup and member and she played played the whole hit it into the bunker and I shot and you're sort of just waiting for things to go bad here going. This poor girl might end up embarrassing yourself trying to get out of the bunker flips it out of the bunker in the first shot to about fifteen twenty feet away and knocks it in for three and I was on the ground. I was on the ground. Not only the whole act of kindness that they did but but Gary Woodward was just his reaction was like you are the most awesome thing that's ever happened to me ever happened to me. You couldn't write it and that was just you know what I mean like everything just flies to your body about competition. Yeah Gary Woodland by the way and it's like he I think is woodland sorry. No that's all good. I think it's agree with you. It's his his sincerity. In that moment. It wasn't one of those you know. Lean in for the standard Selfie and then get on with your Gulf around like he was genuinely emotional and it was pretty amazing leg. I don't care who you are to watch this girl her name..

"Those two names Zuccari begun sounds like some diagnosis, if you went to a doctor, jeez, I'm sorry. You've gotta supergun or it's one of those what they call impossible, burgers, Tom, which I maybe tried or not. But I try I tried one. Iraklis burger in Pittsburgh. But it does sound like an exotic sandwich that you could order at a cool deli somewhere. So we'll look for that one, I watched I watched burger and yesterday actually he was playing with our friend, Nick Watney and Nick, not a grizzled veteran by any means but he was the old man the group 'cause he'd goon, and he had no Neiman is the twenty year old. So I think nNcholas feeling a little bit little bit elderly yesterday, but made the cotton and Brune played played well, all three of them are in contention. So yeah, there's some new faces certainly to document this weekend. And a little bit of the old guard Bubba Watson. Three time champ is in the mix Jason day coming here with Stevie Williams on his bag. Certainly someone to contend with Brooks. Kepco fresh off the US open made the cut need to a big weekend. And Gary woodland won. The US open is. Very comfortably resting on his couch today. Hopefully watching what the remote. Yeah, I guess there is a little fallout from the US open, Tom, I guess that's it's natural. I mean obviously, for Gary Mitch, it's, it's the biggest win of your career. And I'm trying to convince your sort of come to terms, whether Gary is a great player. It's gonna be a great player and he's just sort of waiting late bloomer. This is the tournament that, that sort of catapults him into the stratosphere or if he's a very good player who had a great week. We'll see is thirty five years old, and he's knocking on the door for years, but has never been a prolific winner. But at the same time, the talent has always been there. So you just never know let's you can see in a lot of players like Steve Stricker EJ, sing just in recent examples of guys who who kinda got going in and they're in their late thirties and into their forties and dominated at times. Kenny Perry might be another example. We'll see if woodland does that approaches is forty forties. In a few years. Well, you know, if we look back on it guys, I mean, Tom Watson was always around always around always around and everyone thought he was going to break through, and then. All of a sudden he, you know, he wins in a went on a pretty good run for about eight or ten years, didn't he? Sure. Did you're right. You know, watching had some had some opportunities to win the US open. Next year is US open is right down the road from where we are this week in Hartford Mitch at wing foot. And that's where and had the lead in the US open after fifty four holes back in the seventies and, and had a had a bad last Brown kind of giving away tournaments at that time. And then Byron Nelson got a hold of him and gave him the advice that he needed. And next thing going toe to toe and beating Jack Nicklaus, you know, two years later, I think, you know, I do like the, the Kansas to Pebble Beach connection. Now we mentioned this last week, and that Watson, a Kansas City man, of course. One is famous US open there, Matt Gogel, who's a Kansas City resident won the, the AT and T, even throw in Georgia. Brad. Hey, george. Brad won the Flynn. The pro Ana Pablo throw him in just just for class. But and we won't mention Joe Montana going from the day area to candidate. That's another story. But anyway, so woodwind lives outside of Kansas City, guys. And he is he said it's very talented player at they had, maybe not a criticism. But an observation is he is really used a lot of coaches thirty years. You know searching for the right answers, and he may have settled now on actually, to European coaches ironically, Pete Cowan for long game. And Phil Kenyan who's a putting guru. So I don't know how that dynamic works. I suppose in today's day and age just use your cell phone your computer to communicate and that can be done. You know, certainly very thoroughly. So that's probably how they, they generally communicate, although I know Cowan was there last week at the US, open helping woodland and whenever formula, they came up with it worked, you know, it was interesting talking to fish is, we fish in a relatively new Godfrey said, hey, Gary Woodland's not known for his short game, but he's been working with Kenyan on putting in what I pointed out was if you're missing four five six eight. eight-footers because your chips aren't getting that close and all of a sudden you improve your putting your short game gets better because now you're making those five footers to convert the up and down and that could well be the the point i think we talked about a stat when justin rose played with woodland i believe on saturday they were the number one putter in the in the for the year and the number one putter that week so putting is really the common denominator tom it i laugh when i when i think about putting gary mccord who we work with c._b._s. says he led the putting stats at some point in the eighties but he always lasts he said the reason i let us because i was missing so many greens in regulation and then they were just like total putt so he said i missed the green ship it to four feet naked whereas like hale irwin and jack nicklaus yeah they're hitting sixteen seventeen greens around but you're still going to be percentage wise twenty five thirty feet away most of the time so you're going to be lagging in to putting so of course they've they've kinda altered those stats now where it's a little bit more of a relative cumulation of all kinds of putting denominators but if it'd be back to woodland if you wanna say he was trending we were reading up on some of the post p._g._a. numbers were kept really of course dominated for sixty three of the seventy two holes and then hung on at the end but you only guy in the field that was driving it longer and straighter for the week with gary woodland so gary going back to last summer at the p._g._a. and you know throughout this year remember he actually had to lead at capitola what was it through fifty four holes the inaugural event in january i think he shot sixty eight on sunday but shafi shot sixty two right what are you gonna do about that so he's been playing well but to say that you were maybe predicting him to win the u._s. open would be you know not certainly he wouldn't have been maybe your top ten ticks but at the same time As we've seen a lot like Patrick Reed comes to mind. He'll maybe not the best player in the field, but you you'd be hard pressed to argue that nobody for seventy two holes play better than than woodland. I mean he's the winner that, that goes without saying the for start to finish. He was truly the best player in the field last week and deserve to win. Hey, Tom, I, I was really wrong about this open. I thought that length wasn't going to be an issue here because they, they weren't gonna hit driver many times, and it was going to bring more guys into the game. But, you know chicks dig the long ball. It's I mean, you know, the big bangers where the guys that came out on top, and I was wrong. But I'm just wondering with that in mind are the players still satisfied with the setup of the courts, have you heard anything? I mean, I'm hearing nothing but positive things from people watched the open saying that it was nice to see birdies, and, and, and, you know, pars that were relatively easy and a chance like with the pin physician on eighteen on Sunday. Were an eagle might have won that tournament. And, and you know, it, it sure could have been kept gotta, you know, his ball hill held that green. Are you hearing from the players that they like the setup and they were happy? Mitch. I haven't heard one criticism. I haven't read one criticism. And we, we've been here in Hartford as you say, and we've been on the rain. She'll talk into a few of the guys that played last week. And, and that's when you can really decipher if they're telling the truth. Yeah, sometimes what they what they tell the press is not what they'll tell you in private. But yeah, I think that it was universal praise for Pebble Beach, the USDA I think was was pleased with their week went the setup was influenced by the overcast conditions. There's not much you can do about it. I think in an ideal world. They would have had scattered clouds and a ten to twelve mile an hour wind all four days and, and then you would have seen a winning score down more like three or four hundred par rather than double digits. But yeah. Pebbles first of all, it's a scene. Of course, we know that it goes without saying it, it's interesting, if there's one thing about pebble that noticed through the years is, is once you get on the twelfth t a great score like it seems like the all the action is on the on the front nine maybe the first eleven holes. That's where you see the most birdies, and you can certainly see big numbers on eight nine and ten and, and other holes. And then if you if you pour in your generally not losing ground now, fourteen turned out to be the pivotal hole. It was reachable and woodland hits one of the great shots really in US open history. It won't necessarily be remembered as such because it was fourteen but to basically, hold that green from however far away. He was hitting three wood and to make an easy birdie. That was the pivotal stroke that gave him the cushion, then hit the shot on seventeen and I was noticing his caddy, Brennan little who who's an unsung hero here because Brennan caddied for Mike Weir. And, and he knows that golf. Course like the back of his hand because my played in the AT and T with his friend, George Roberts for like ten years, and they were always in contention. But, you know, Brennan said that woodland on seventeen on Friday also chipped on that green to make a par now based on where the whole location was. So we actually had that play that shot earlier in the week. And what a shot to play and John, I think the seventeenth hole once again, if it's is one iron and seventy two or Watson's chip in whatever you wanna call woodland shot that's going to go down in history at pebble. Well, absolutely. And when you think about, again, the Kansas connected with Watson and the chip and and what it meant at the time. And, you know, the average player would have stuck that thing in the ground and you know, pulled up a full up squirrel. So, right. No. Stuff, Tom, we're going to we're going to let you go here. And I wanna thank you publicly. We do have Brennan, little coming up as our next guest, and thank you so much for helping set that up makes for an awesome show. We also have Joe Pavel ski on at the bottom. So thank you so much for helping with getting Brennan little setup, and he's been very cooperative. So looking forward to it. He's a good man. Has it has a great playing resume himself grew up on Tehran's Canada, with Mike? We're they play a lot of golf together, and then Brennan started caddying ninety nine he's, you know, he's an understated guy. But he's a heck of a caddy and a and a and a good man. So I hope he will be entertained the audience with some good stories. They Tom just before you go. Do you find it odd the two guys named ABA Andros and juris it started this segment by making fun of people's last names? Does that kind of I? It does get back to our deli theme. The Mitch and John Andros jurists. There's something there that needs to be marketed in the Delhi world. Yeah, give me a quarter pound of that happened. Roth low there. Oh, that's a good. That's a good thought. All right, Tom great Tom have a good weekend. And we will watch run Brandenburg Woon how he does. Talk to you. All right, guys. There we go. Try Spencer, great stuff and for sure. Great US open, and yeah. Great. We'll talk more about it at the end of the show very to visit with the, the folks there in the media center and all that. So we should point out that we actually, you know, our theme song I love to play. We met one of the guys that was on that. Larry rinker. That's right. Yeah. And I listen to him this morning for a few minutes coming up. There you go. There you go. Good stuff. They're coming up. We are going to visit with Brennan, little, the caddy for Gary Woodward and should be some great stories. And I sure if he came to San Francisco for a giants game or a warriors game next year. He might wanna go right down the street to the atwater tavern. It's right between the giants oracle park in the new chase arena. Atwater is a great place to do the pre-game. It's a rooftop has a rooftop perfect for vent before after the games, I like to get there on non game days or still some parking right in the area..

I think we've got at the, the quarter hour Brennan little, you may not know his name. He is the caddy for Gary Woodward at the US open. It's the second major and we'll talk about both of those majors should be a good segment. And what did Gary woodland wind over two million dollars? Two point three two point three. So if he's making ten percent at two point three ten percent. We don't know he's making Harry Carey the. Made a lot of money this weekend, actually. Yeah. We'll also visit with a guy named Joe pa- Veliki. Yeah. We've all heard of him and he is playing in the American century championship July nine through fourteen up at Lake Tahoe. "Gary Woodward is like so many guys on tour nothing special. Thirty five year old from Kansas, when a couple tournaments going to last year's PGA, only once in twenty seven majors, and he finished in the top twenty. He ended up six at that PGN eight at this year's in woodland held the lead all weekend, Brooks came charging looking for third straight US, open, title, woodland held them off the fourteen Paul when he blasted his second shot at three would all the way to the green. He had a great ship to save par on seventeen in the nineteen needed. Only boat, you to win the tournament. He had a birdie finish thirteen hundred par when tiger. Woods won the open at Pebble Beach in two thousand fifteen shot. His score was minus twelve even in defeat kept it continues to amaze in majors. He's already won four titles and this year so far one win two second-place it just shoot as low as possible. He was nice to get off to such a good start. I felt like all right, man. We got a ballgame now and it was fun some excitement around the golf course. And that's what you want. And you know, Gary, he put a hell of around today props him the way he hung in there. And you know, to go out and sell like this is pretty cool next up the British up next month tiger who finished twenty first of the US Open's as he won't play until them Red Sox have won five hundred. They've finished his sweeping Baltimore tied the game in the ninth inning on Marco Hernandez homerun just a second. Big league career and then five runs in the tenth inning. And the Orioles got three back before Boston one eight two six five and a half out of first place. Couple of American League upsets Kansas City, one eight six at Minnesota. Just the royals nine road win of a year. And just a twin the Levick laws at home and Toronto. Five home..

"Gary woodland had gone for seven with a fifty four hole lead. And in the end his solved that streak in the biggest win his career, a major champion for the first time Andy north can relate to having the thirty six holy the fifty four hole lead. And then winning this championship. Andy, what did Gary woodland prove to himself? Most importantly, this one that it can finish. The fact that he'd never one from the lead is really a big deal to do that. What a great week to get that done. He did it a lot of different ways. I thought that was really critical for him getting off to good starting to birdies, the first three holes in that really set up the rest of the day, two key moments. Andy one of them came on the par-five on the backside the fourteenth where he from to sixty three hit one of the purest, shots, you'll ever see under pressure. And to be able to carry it up onto that green is almost impossible. I mean, it's it is so elevated hit unbelievable, and was fortunate that he gets softly, any ended up getting up in that really puts the final nail in the coffin, I thought even more important than that shot, which is fantastic. The fact that on the T shot at fourteen he got a swing slowdown. He lost his sequence a little bit at eleven twelve and thirteen hit some balls to the right. He got it back down slow to down from that point on hit quality stumbled then recovered. And of course, the signature moment was from ninety feet away shipping on the seventeenth, as you were saying, you didn't want any part of that shot plated beautifully. We've seen a lot of players as we have to do that. Because of the rigid cuss through the dream perfectly caught it just doesn't he wanted to enough spin on it. And as he said later on he thought he was going to make it was about eight feet as much as this state belongs to Gary woodland. We wanna see our champions, earn it and Brooks kept a forced him to do. So what can you? Say about two runner ups now sandwiched around a PGA championship win from kept, what did he show today? Well, it'd be hard to argue that he may not be the best big major type player that we have in our game right now that he brings it every single time. And he, he doesn't different ways, we all thought that there is a really good chance back at about the leverage while whole that he'd still could be our champion, so good for him. Great for Gary hole in them off. But instead, it's Gary woodland who in signature style drains, his final putt at the seventy second hole. The US open champion, Gary, Woodward,.

"On WWL superintendent for the golf course. Everybody had a hand in building. This place is going to have an impact on what that final scores going to be the week that lies before as as you know, where you're broadcasting from is going to be raw it's going to be cool. It's going to be wet too. We get. into Lisa second round of the tournament proper. That means that a golf course it's already broad a brawny a golf course that's already long talking seventy five hundred yards. I mentioned give or take issue is going to be incredibly tough. When you add into that mix. The fact that the rough at Bethpage Black is a little bit of chef salad name that it's got a lot of native grasses. In those native grasses are well-fed leads are going to be sick. They're gonna be full of water. The PGA can do whatever they want to with the length of the grass in terms of going gonna cut it, I'm guessing two and a half three inches. But after that, you can't do a darn thing about the density. And if that all settled down in you're gonna see a lot of guys chopping back out the fairway taking their chances approaching the flagstick there might not be US open standard. But it's not gonna be easy by any standard of back. Bay. Black is a long course, you said it, I agree with it. Does it? Favor long hitters is a course where you gonna want to go to the who's poking it out there. Three sixty five type statistical analysis and give them a little bit of. I'm not I'm not dodging by by giving Sanford yet. No. No part is. Yes. Well, the no part is. Yes. The no part is going to benefit length. But the length has to be married with accuracy. Right. So what I would recommend you do. Jody Mackie's is go look up the total driving statistics PGA tour because total driving statistics take into account not only length but also accuracy number one for the Wells Fargo in that regard for temple was very Woodley who started out gangbusters kinda cooled off. And all of a sudden here name right now. Like we're talking about it in a week. Now, people could go, oh, I heard Mattie Jodi talking about Gary Woodward. I'd even think about it Louis pays it his fifth in that regard. Brooks kept us thirteen tiger is eleventh. So look for players that are not only hitting it. Well, but they have to be inaccurately. The converse side is if your player that with all respect it so much cheering for that. They hope we're gonna play. Well there but they're not hitting it with accuracy curves form. I wouldn't look for players like Phil Mickelson or even George space the play. Well at Bethpage Black because they're not hitting fairways. And if you don't hit fairways there, you're in trouble because the conversation is the greens are, okay? And you know 'cause you played in. I used to love playing their degrees are not crazy young. Newly are not mad once you get on the greens. Especially if you get it to the flagstick run to the flat, it's relatively flat. It's getting there. That's the challenge. That's that's where it's going to. I think that's where the winter contenders are going to be defined agreed understood might Adams from the golf channel and ways of life, our guest on CBS sports radio. All right. You mentioned that Eldrick guy. He did win the US. But when it was first paid played a bed by black back in two thousand and to the only player under par at minus three the US open, cheap would've wanted to protect par data per everybody except that would guy who. At the time was kind of on the top of the world the world, basically all worlds, but was seventeen years ago several different versions of Tiger Woods thins. But we saw reverting of Tiger Woods last. We are led month when he took the master's advantage. Tiger bet. Played black no difference. It doesn't matter what he didn't thousand two. How do you put his former teammates on that course, into context for this upcoming PJ this week? I would put his achievements last month for in the context. And what I would that. He did it two thousand to two tiger. Because the way that he was last pastors was not the way that he used to win back in the early two thousands either tiger with has the potential play there. What what concerns me with tiger? Is the fact that he chose that plays agent toll as you do with injury. He was just resting. He wasn't ready to compete yet. What does that mean? I don't know. But the fact that a player of his caliber would. Would not have struck shot angers since the pastor's. His next start is a championship. I don't think it's reasonable to assume tremendous about Tiger Woods. We have no idea what to expect from him. It's it's actually odd. It does cause me some level of concern that maybe there's something deeper that was going on here. And the other side of that I'd say well that much time that whatever it is maybe at time to kind of work it out rested. Or what have you? I I wouldn't. I don't personally expect great things from Tiger Woods that. He's there. Now Ovid's practicing Allen. I hope that he gets his rhythm. But when players of that caliber offer that long, but they tend to lose a tend to lose the small also react, they tend to lose the do onto that's chipping potty little things like that that you're going to need around that golf course because it's so long gonna miss green. And you're gonna be able to get up down from the spinach. So, you know, tighter in terms of what he did in the past. It doesn't really mean. Anything to me terms of tiger. Where he is. Right now Channing compete yet Willie be able to because he hasn't played semesters. That's the big question lies you and I discussed this when we found out the PJ was going to move from the fourth major of the year to the second major. But getting a master's in the US, and we pointed out, the upsides and downsides. There are boat. At least in my estimation. It was and I think you said to say if I remember correctly, one of them, I didn't really think about was you know, it could be close enough to the masters that a guy would choose not to play at all in between. We also well play least once if not twice in between it just happens the guy one Daiga woods, the biggest name chose to go this way for his reasons, and we are questioning them now. Should they have factored that in when they said, hey, let's the PGA to five weeks after two masters, but we better be careful because there might be some guys who choose not to play in between was that a consideration that the powers that be missed and maybe guys like Matt Adams, Jody McDonald missed. No, I don't think so Jodi because that timeframe between the masters PGA championship. No, more pronouncement timeframe DJ championship. US open at a timeframe for the US open to the open. Remember what we had the last Olympics golf was back, and it was two weeks for one major to another. You know, those those things do happen. I think the aberration was that the guy that wants masters who is arguably the best golfer of all time, depending on where you fall is only two that it comes down to Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods. We're talking about the professional ranks. He's forty three years old. He's he's gotten more miles on them. In the car that's up on the blocks in your backyard. So I think that the thing that's questionable with with tiger. Was this long delay is an indication of him resting an old body that not necessarily only in years, but with the vials of the chassis or was there something more going on here? I don't think there was any grounds or calling that you may have been alluding to to the fact that there wasn't enough time between the masters and the next major because we're in that season. They're all into it. Right now, we go from the players to the masters PGA championship to the US open to the to the the open it this year at Royal Portrush to the Cup playoffs in and we're on our run. It's buffet at golf, and I'm all for that. I love that. I think it's great for all of his fans. But in terms of how it impacts anybody pens, in fact, only one individual that I could see so far. And that is the guy that just won the masters. Tiger woods. The most recognizable as the only one who in. The question, I doubt lasting and again, feel free to change your mind between now and Thursday Wednesday Thursday, we cut the golf channel listening on fairways of life. The only prediction it really matters the one you make just before they you off on Thursday, but who you leaning toward who's your favorite. I'm leaning towards Brooks Kapka to be honest with you, you know, he's got this ability he jumps into the phone booth and comes out as super Brooks. And when it comes to regular it. Like right now today, he's depending right. I always doing okay awkward studs solid ball striking, but he gets into those Rina's, and he becomes like, Hugh hyperfocused. But the thing about that is not nearly that ability to really dial it in and on that stage. He says ability to hit shots accurately as the fairy going back to what we were just talking about a few moments ago that the thing that I would keep an eye on however outside of him. There's still names that that are kind of you know, drifted into Lewis as in Jason day that. I would also keep an eye out. If I'm not saying, you're Betty joining back. But if you were knows three that I would say keep an eye on the three and kept gave you believe it's going to play long, and yes, it's not often that I get to say, I played a major course. But I did play play black. You got to be hit at long. You're right. It's gotta be accurate. Certainly I had to be accurate in a USO, but maybe a little less only for the BJ but kept combined with the best of. So that does make a lot of sense. Matt great stuff is always enjoyed the coverage would be listening this week. I'll touch base with if we can squeeze something in next week. We'll do it if not don't sweat it. Preciado the preview thanks for coming on my Matt Adams from the golf channel and fair ways of life is GOP talk show is good as get than syndicated all over the place these days, and he's good enough to Clinton when we ask them to help us figure out what's going on in golf as it's going down or before it ever starts the KEPCO who stays in. "Yes. I, unfortunately, I'm not going to go out there. I will tell you that when they played the US open in two thousand and two we did chose out there. And it was a lot of fun. And then I got to play. The course I said about eleven months later, I may or June and Nate plate in late June wherever it was could you couldn't get on immediately thereafter 'cause everyone wanted to play the courts the USO boys played on, but a friend, and I got on about eleven months later, and it was at USF open grade. Oh my God. That's a hard course. Oh, yeah. What's cool about? The course is. Design or ladder, the former, but what I like about the golf courses that the way that the years that was Washington by that is if you. They would use the low areas of landing area that the target would be top of the hill. So the second shot actively longer. So you've got a golf course that already played seven. Cake, right, depending on how they set it up, but he plays. Secondly, even longer than that because of the way the land is formed in that part of Long Island. So it's you know, it I s f all the accolades to get that I realize I it's it's essentially the northeastern the metro area, but I don't actually think he gets credit that it deserves spectacular. It totally is a worthy of major venue. It is and they played the US open their first time ever on a public courts in two thousand two born it back in two thousand nine bed. Fedex playoffs there. Couple of times over the last five six seven years. How is the course going to be different? First of all. How's it different from US open standards to FedEx standards, will it be any different than ad when they play the PGA there this weekend. Appropriately. There are three different standards as you just noted there's US open standards. There's a few J towards standard PGA, America's standard. When it comes to the US say US open standard, the US open tries to protect the allusive par. Meaning that they want the score to be as close to par as possible which is from by viewpoint. An outdated approach. It's ten at least more like fifteen to twenty years outdated. Meaning that the best players in the world when they're going to tear up at a golf course, if it's a par seventy two they're already gonna shoot on average of sixty eight so talking about it for a championship. Then you somewhere between eight to twelve is a region reasonable bumper that players of this caliber going to be at when you go to FedEx Cup standard of PGA tour standard, that's kind of numbers that you gotta see. Now, he championships a little bit different but closer to PGA tour than it is to the US. Meaning that they're going to set this golf. Up to be fair. So that everybody's playing the same course in as much as they possibly can. And whatever the final score is the final scores. However, us Brubeck, mother nature. The superintendent of the golf course everybody has had a hand in building. This place is going to have an impact on what that final score is going to be the week that lies before as as you know, where you're broadcasting from is going to be raw it's going to be cool. It's going to be wet too. We get into lease the second round of the tournament proper. That means that a golf course it's already broad. But he's not going to be easy by any standard of back. Pay black is a long course. A you said it, I agree with it. Does it favor long hitters is this a course where you won't gonna want to go through the who's poking? Out there. Three sixty five type statistical analysis and give them a little bit of. I'm not I'm not dodging the question by by giving air for no. No part is. Yes it well. No part is. Yes. The no part is it's going to benefit length. But the length has to be buried with accuracy. So look for players that are not only hitting it. Well, but they have to be inaccurately. The converse side is if your player that with all due respect that so much cheering for that. They hope we're gonna play well there, but they're. Not hitting it with accuracy and current form. I wouldn't look for players like Phil Mickelson or even George space the play. Well at Bethpage Black because they're not hitting fairways. And if you don't hit fairways there, you're in trouble because the converse side is the greens are, okay? And you know 'cause you've played in. I I used to love playing their degrees are not crazy. The unusually mad once you get on the greens, especially you get it to the flagstick run to the flat tickets relatively flat. It's getting there. That's the challenge that that's where it's going to. I think that's where the winner. The contenders are going to be defined agreed that understood mad Adams from the golf channel and fair ways of life. Our guest here on CBS sports radio. You mentioned Eldrick guy. He did win the US out. But when it was first paid played a bed by black back in two thousand and two the only player under par at minus three the US open key wanted to protect par data per everybody except for that would guy who into time was kind of. On the top of the world of the GOP world, basically all worlds, but it was seventeen years ago several different versions of Tiger Woods thins. But we saw reverting of Tiger Woods last week our month when he took the master's advantage. Tiger bet plagued black no difference. It doesn't matter what he didn't do thousand two. How do you put his former teammates on that course, into context for this upcoming PJ this week? I would put his last month for in the context, then what I would that. He did it two thousand and two veterans to tiger. Because the way that he wants us last masters was not the way that he used to win back in the early two thousands either tiger with has a potential play there. What what concerns me with tiger? Is the fact that he chose that plays agent toll as you do with injury. He was just resting and he wasn't ready to compete yet. What does that mean? I don't know. But the fact that a player of his caliber would not have struck. His shot anger since the pastors. His next start is a championship. I don't think it's reasonable to assume a tremendous amount for Tiger Woods, we have no idea what to expect from habits. It's it's actually odd. It does cause me some level of concern that maybe there's something deeper that was going on here. And the other side of that I'd say that much time that whatever it is. Maybe he's had time to kind of work it out at rested. Or what have you? I wouldn't. I don't personally expect great things from Tiger Woods. I know that he's there now. Practicing Alan I hope that he gets his rhythm. But when players of that calibre off for that long, but they tend to lose they tend to lose the small muscle react, they tend to lose the do on, and that's chipping and putting little things like that that you're going to need around that golf course because it's so long you're gonna miss green. And you're gonna need to get up and down from spinach. So, you know, tiger in terms of what he did in the past. It doesn't really mean. Anything to me in terms of tiger. Where he is right now Channing compete yet Willie be able to because he hasn't played since a masters. That's where the big question lies you and I discussed this when we found out the PGA was going to move from the fourth major of the year to the second major. But getting a master's in the US, and we pointed out, the upsides and downsides. There are boat. At least in my estimation. It was on. I think you said the same. If I remember correctly one of them. I didn't really think about was you know, it could be close enough to masters that a guy would choose not to play at all in between. We also well play at least once if not twice. In between it just happens. The guy who won Daiga woods the biggest payment gob chose to go this way for his reasons, and we are questioning them now. Should they have factored that in when they said, hey, let's move with the PGA to five weeks after the masters, but we'd better be careful because there might be some guys who choose not to play in between was that a consideration that the powers that be missed and maybe guys like Matt Adams Jody McDonald missed now. I don't think so Jodie because the timeframe between the masters the PGA championship. No more pronounced the timeframe for the BJ championship. The US open at a timeframe for the US open to the open. And remember what we had the last Olympics in golf was back, and it was two weeks for one major to another. You know, those those things do happen. I think the aberration was that the guy that wants a masters who is arguably the best golfer of all time, depending on where you fall is only two that it comes down to Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods. We're talking about the professional ranks. He's forty three years old. He's he's got more miles on it. Said the car that's up on the blocks in your backyard. So I think that the thing that's questionable with with tiger. Was this long delay is an indication of him resting an old body that not necessarily only years, but with the miles on the chassis or was there something or going on here? I don't think there was any grounds or calling that you may have been alluding to to the fact that there wasn't enough time between the masters in the next major because we're in that season..

"Here early in the third quarter gave mccollum's keeping running game Damon can't buy a bucket, but mccollum's making everything he's taken so Portland. Not going to go quietly into the night cut the deficit to seven against the nuggets. We'll keep an eye on that one for you. But before you know, it the next major is upon us. Come Thursday, the PGA in its new spot on the golf calendar. Pops up at Bethpage Black out on Long Island and Tiger Woods will try and go back to back after winning a master's here. Now was out. Get ready for the PGA and will preview of the next twenty coming up is our buddy whenever we talked golf. He's the guy we go to you. Cut your golf channel. And show fairways obliged, syndicated everywhere. These days Matt Adam joins us here on CBS sports radio. How are you? Mad? Jody MAC we're coming here neighborhood this week. Yes. I fortunately, I'm not going to go out there. I will tell you that when they played the US open in two thousand and two did shows out there, and it was a lot of fun. And then I got to play. The course I said about eleven months later, I may or June plate and late June. Whatever it was could you couldn't get on immediately after because everyone wanted to play the courts the USO played, but a friend, and I got on about leban- months later. Right. And it wasn't ufl grade. Oh my God. That's a hard course. Oh, yeah. What's cool about? The course is. Bac design or ladders at the former. But what I like about the golf courses that the way that they used it to Washington by that is if you had an area on they would use the low areas of landing areas the target would be top hill. So second shots actively longer. So you've got a golf course that already plays seven. Give or take right depending how they set it up, but he plays. Secondly, even longer than that causes the way the land is formed in that part of Long Island. So it's you know, it I s for all the accolades to get that I realize that it's it's a sensuality when northeastern the metro area, but I don't actually think he gets credit that it deserves. It is tackler. It totally is a worthy of major venue. It is and they played the US open their first time ever on a public course in two thousand two born it back in two thousand nine they've had FedEx playoffs there. Couple of times over the last five six seven years. How is the course going to be different? First of all. How's it different from US open standards to FedEx standards will be any different than that? When they play the PGA there this weekend. Yeah. Properly, there are different standards as you just noted there's Louis open standards. There's a few. Toward standards. Gave America's standard when it comes to the US Shiite, you say US open standard, the US open tries to protect the allusive par means that they want to score to be as close to par as possible which is for by viewpoint. Outdated approach. It's ten at least or like fifteen to twenty years outdated. Meaning that the best players in the world when they're going to tear up at a golf course, if it's a par seventy two they're already gonna shoot on average of sixty eight. So that you're talking about if for a championship, then you somewhere between eight to twelve is a region reasonable that players of this caliber going to be at when you go to FedEx Cup standard of PGA tour standards. That's kind of numbers that you're gonna see now PGA championships a little bit different but closer to PGA tour than it is to the US. Meaning that they're going to set this golf course up to be fair. So that everybody's playing the same course in as much as they possibly hand. And whatever the final score is final. Scores. How ever killing us Brubeck, mother nature. The superintendent of the golf course everybody that's had a hand in building. This place is going to have an impact on what that final score is going to be the week that lies before as as, you know, from where you're broadcasting from is going to be raw it's going to be cool. It's going to be wet till we get into lease the second round of the tournament proper. That means that a golf course it's already broad brawny. A golf course that's already long talking seventy five hundred yards. I mentioned give or take issue is going to be incredibly tough. When you add into that mix. The fact that the rough at Bethpage Black is a little bit of a chef salad name that it's got a lot of native grasses and those native grasses are well-fed. The leaves are going to be sick. They're going to be full of water that the PGA can do whatever they want to with the length of the grass in terms of their probably gonna cut it. I'm guessing sue and a half three inches. But after that, you can't do a darn thing about the density. And if that fall settles down in you're gonna see a lot of guys shopping back out the fairway taking their chances approaching the flagstick for there might not be US open standard. But it's not gonna be easy by any standard on a back bay is a long course at you said it, I agree with it. Does it favor long hitters is this a course where you won't gonna wanna go through the who's poking it out there. Three sixty five type statistical analysis and give them a little bit of. I'm not I'm not dodging the question like Sanford. Yes. And no, no part is. Yes. Well, part is. Yes. No part is it's going to benefit links. But the length has to be married with accuracy. Right. So what I would recommend you do. Jody Mackie's is go on look up the total driving statistics PGA tour because total driving statistics taking to account not only length, but also accuracy number one through the Wells Fargo in that regard, for example, was very Woodley who started out gangbusters kinda cooled off. But all of a sudden name right now like we're talking about it in a week from now people could go, oh, I heard Mattie and Jodi talking about Gary Woodward. I'd even think about it Louis was his fifth in that regard. Brooks kept us thirteen tiger is eleven so look for players that are not only hitting it. Well, but they have to be inaccurately.
