"Son to soweto and johannesburg has invited there by church. When he saw real poverty changed his life and take up to a church where they see real spiritual life. And you've given your kids. The best chance to have a god honoring life. That is solid advice. Solid advice and i could not agree more. Thank you so much for coming on again. Well yes he just conversations with you. We schedule at once a month look. I'd love to come back again. That i look forward to it so thank you. Thank you so much. Yes so when he was talking about the guest semi. Yeah i was thinking too that my guess semi can't go there often or sometimes not even at all like i have to in my mind because once my parents old house and then one is the spot at the camp up in northern michigan. I go every summer and so. They're not that accessible in my physical body. But if i even just go to a still place and maybe this one at work for everybody. This might be my particular pathway. But i think go to a place and just pictured in my mind is if i'm there it's like yes even if it's somewhere i can't access physically i can go. There mentally could be a trick for people to try as well..

Your station in life is I tend to have a real natural as bent is well. It's hard living in. Houston say call cement city. Yeah but there are places that i've found the you can go. And that's great preceded. I love about you. And your your content. Gary is it ascherson freedom. I think that that's the thing that i've noticed in all of the everything that i've read of yours is that ushers in a sense of freedom in the lord where i think we can try to close ourselves in and quiet time. Concept is such a great example of it we try try to set a system in place or a framework for things and and that is a lot how how my brain works to abandon a plan and so it's so freeing like even if do discover our spiritual temperament as you called it which is different from personality. Yes do you want to kind of explain that a little bit. Well could be an introvert. Extrovert if you go into myers briggs. You've got all of those different ones. That doesn't again that tells you who you are. It doesn't tell you how you necessarily relate to god. Because often found some extroverts that with god they're not extroverted they might be can template if they might be Quieter in in there. So it's it's important understand. This is just very different about yeah relating to god and the freedom there is so what what i've heard through the decades. Is this the freedom that individuals feel and then when small groups do this study respect for each other. Oh that's why you want forty five minutes of singing and ten minutes of bible study and that's why you're like. Why can't we forget the singing this time and just do fifty minutes a bible study and why the other ones like..

"So there's not a problem of god's wrath there's not a problem of rebellion or it's we were are the holy spirit awakens our heart to love god and so if it's becoming a struggle. I always focused on discipline early on. I've got him disciplined. Got a whole book. Counterbalance ab others. Hold me accountable. I you know. I've i- underplayed the power of delight if you joy your time with the lord and genuinely miss it when it doesn't happen discipline takes care of itself. I have a problem with this plan. I think everybody needs to be disciplined. But there's so many things we have to disciplined about flossy our teeth. I delight in but were disciplined right but but make god a discipline times. Maybe you have to go through searchers. But i just found that delight is really a better way to approach it when we can. I like that. Because even i think you've got me now thinking about the spiritual disciplines as i think through even. I'm thinking of fasting. That is something that if you if you do it repeatedly yes. It's it's it's hard and it's difficult but it's so rewarding and if it's something that you do periodically you're going to crave it you're going to miss it and you're going to want to press into the lord through fasting. Even though it's referred to as a a discipline it is a delight even though it can feel like a sacrifice it's sorta like running. I love to run. Most of the time i delight in the runs. Sometimes i feel like i should run and and so it can be that way. I think with fasting. Sometimes you probably need to fast. But i don't want to but then when you do most of the time you're gonna say oh. Yeah that's why. I do that gladys the fallen human nature some tight. We have to discipline ourselves to remember why we delight in. That's so good. That's true of anything. It's true eating healthy true of issues in marriage. That is so true. No i had a question about this concept of finding your get semi because that was something that you ask your readers and so what do you mean by that. We talk a lot about gas in the church during passion week. Because that's where jesus was where he was trade and where the soldiers came and arrested but the reason that gacem role in passion week is because it had such a huge role in jesus's life throughout his ministry. In the book goes through several passages where he was there with his disciples. We knew that jesus wasn't caught by surprise. He knew that judas was going to betray him which means he got to pick where he spent those last moments to prepare for the betrayal and the cross. The garden of assembly needs also referred to as amount of olives in some places the gardening assemblies within the on the mount of olives. It became a precious place to jesus. And that's why judas knew we could find.

"So it is amazing. How you see some of those Emphases didn't include the ground because the book was written in ninety six and back then. Hardly anybody was really talking about the program. Really kinda hit heyday in the last decade bashar. Then it was. I mean i had heard of. It wasn't familiar with it and well. I think there's some correlations. I don't think they're direct relations. So right i've just been going on and on. Do you want me to mention the nine now or do you want to say something else. I don't want to monopolise only dilly. The other thing. I was going to say about that before we go into each of the nine is. It's interesting the role that preference plays. And the lord's been speaking to me specifically about preference because sometimes preference can get in the way of our obedience especially when it comes to certain people in our lives like it could be tempting to label someone just to go back to when to walk away. It could be tempting to label someone as toxic as justification for walking away simply because they're not your preferred person to hang out with. So i'm i'm thinking about like a positive way. That preference comes into play as far as like the ways that we prefer to connect with other people probably aligns with the ways. We like to connect with god what we enjoy doing. Like i love being outside and i the first one the naturalist. I'll let you get into it but that very much Hits hits a chord with me. Because i connect with the lord when i am out in nature especially in the forest so i don't know just that word preference came to mind and i've had such a negative spin on it lately kind of keeping myself in check but this almost brings back into a positive light so be interested to see what that if if preference plays into it at all for you so yet give us a rundown of the night..

Our ultimate allegiance is to God and so if there's destruction taking place if there's murder taking place at that time I think we follow in the footsteps of Jesus and learn when to walk away away. That's really wise and compassionate. Thank you for summing that up. how would what would you say to those the people who've been really hurt then and they're carrying around the wounds of toxicity like where do you start moving on. I have several passages one. I think that I love comes from the book of Jude. Not a popularly known book but as written by why are Lord's brother so there you go and in Judy talks about how in the first verse we are called. We are loved and we are kept. That's God's named for us. The worthy called ones. Everybody has a mission and again not a pressure pack mission a mission of life. I something that God made you for whether it's for the literary community the Athletic Community The arts community the business community the local church community do you are called hauled to do a work with God equipping. You are loved in fact we're calling clashes twelve and Fiji's five one dearly loved and were kept safe in and Jesus Christ. Would I determined his and I would plead with the listeners to accept this. Nobody gets to call me names but God. The world could say you should shut up. What you're saying is harmful and hurtful. Why don't you just be silent because they want to murder my ministry. I should say you know what no God says. I'm called. I'm not going to accept your opinion. I'm GONNA accepts your your failure urinated. God says I'm loved. You might hate me. You might think I'm despicable. What I'm going to accept God's says I'm loved and I like his opinion more than yours. If you don't do what I I WANNA do you're GONNA pay. I'm gonNA tell everybody about you. I'm going to expose you know what God says. I'm kept safe in the love of Jesus this Christ. I am called. I am loved. I am kept. That's what God says. I am so any toxic person that says you better watch out your you're despicable. You're more harmful than helpful. It's irrelevant to me because I'm GonNa take the opinion of the wisest being in the universe. I chaplains to be my heavenly father so let God define you. Y- you see this in the life of Nehemiah when they tried flattery they tried threats. They tried religious authority. They tried political authority and he ends the book of Nehemiah with this remember Burmese with favor my God my God and Jonathan I had to get to the point where I realized it doesn't matter with that person and says about me on facebook or twitter or in a blog or on the radio or what not what matters is Lord of my being unfaithful to you because fact is God knows worse things about me than they're probably accusing me of in most instances and so would would i WanNa do is just say i. I'm not put on Earth to defend me. I'm put on Earth to spread the name of Jesus Christ and to seek first God's kingdom not not my own. The classic writers tells there are some cajuns where we have to defend our name to defend the ministry. God has given us but usually not often ah often as we think we do. I've found it's just a waste of time that we eat. You can think about me. I want to speak the word that God has called me to to speak. Thank you friends when to walk away finding freedom from toxic people the linked to buy that is in the show notes comes out eight th of October and you can grab Gary's other books sacred marriage and and so on Gary. Would you pray for us yes can I can. I say a quick word please before we pray the what I'd say to listeners this. This book has more scripture in it than any book. I've written which shocked me. I thought it'd be a short book but after accounted all these signs at Jesus walkaway than how Paul all applied it in John applauded and whatnot but I end the book with a dream. I don't do that at freak some people out. I'm writing this inscription but sometimes God does choose to speak to me in a way when my conscience I think is not fully engaged and I'm waking up and I I could picture. You're more that could picture. I could just feel myself being bullied. I don't know how old I was. I don't know what the setting was but I could feel well it and I could see and and then it was like God took me on this journey through my life where I saw a season after season of being bullied now if you had asked me the day before dare. Have you ever been bullied. I I don't think so I mean maybe one time in junior high but the way I defined it. I really never thought of myself as a bully person and then I saw. Wow Oh yes that yet. Yes yes. I just I lacked the label to understand what was going on and when I woke up it was a sense of God's heartbreaking over how I've been bullied and his wanting this book when to walk away to protect those who are being bullied today without without these labels without this understanding without the scriptural paradigm we leave ourself in relationships and in situations where were bullied holy and it hurts God. That's the thing more than an Erz me. God loves me. God loves you. If you're listening to this. If your son or daughter the US adopted it hurts him to see you bullied so when you walk away you're worshiping God by removing something that brings brings him great pain an and so for me. This book was God's saying enough is enough. People are being bullied. Now there may be times when we were called to give our life for the Gospel many have throughout history but but not today and not right now and not in this make sure that it is a call of God and not a false sense of guilt a false misunderstanding or frankly diminishing your own mission and your own importance before God and your own value to God so that's sort of what moved me in the end and Apprai- accordingly father. I believe that you are a sovereign. God that you call people various things in there some that just need to hear this. Your heart has been breaking as they have allowed themselves to be abused to to be maligned and Lord. They don't have that joy and peace of operating in the sense of fulfilling abundant ministry instead. They're always trying to recover from attacks. They feel like they've been on defense their their whole life in a sense of they're they're always trying to breathe again from the attacks. Lord I pray they could just sense your call to freedom that who you set free is free indeed indeed that following new could be walking away from those who are making them sick so prayed Lord. You'd help them apply this. I pray that you'd help them understand it Lord. I pray that you would bring names to people's minds right now and say it's time to Prune this relationship from in your life. This is one that needs to go. This is one you need to stop interacting with that. You would create much fruit not that it would save us time but it would help us be more focused in more effective ministry spending the best time in the best way in Jesus Name Amen Ladies and Gentlemen Gary Thomas Thomas. How good is that if you are interested in that book make sure you go and pre-order it order comes out of Tober. Eight links are in the show notes and I'm. I'm GonNa like I said very very seriously considering using this as the topic for my next book study so if you would like to dig into this deeper if you perhaps like me you have internalized other people's toxicity. My wife does not have that problem that I have had that problem. Then join me and we'll go through together. We'll do a concession each week. Connect resume dig through these chapters one by one group at a time and talk about it together and pray with one another so that is of interest not you drop me a line on any of my channels and then maybe later in October once the books come out then we'll do a bookstore and if you join my Patriot at the Book Doc Lovers Tier then I'll send you a copy of the book for Free so you don't have anyway. "But I think they're more worried about each other at the moment. The course designer seems to think it favors of Thomas and a lot of people seem to think this. Yeah. I thought I agree with that. Yeah. Well, I mean, I definitely think. We had we didn't see the best of room last year store. I think he's gonna come out swinging is going to want to win the tour to France. And this is definitely something that probably suits him more than than Gary Thomas, and he probably won't show up at the Jiro. Again know what they're talking about is guaranteed as doing the double went twenty nineteen. Yeah. That would be. Which would favor firm for the tour. We all know that zero takes a lot out of you. We saw firm struggling in the tour because of that or one of the reasons why. So I would think wouldn't be great for Thomas to go there. Yeah. I agree. And I and I don't I told B this. I mean, and it's perfectly their right to do. It is clearly if the French had any chance to win it's with bar day Pino. And so this this route of both those guys can't you know, they can't time-trial to save their lives. So this is certainly suited customize should say for those guys. No one seems to hide that that that's truly what the tour wants to do. They want. To help the French get back on top of the podium. Correct. Yeah. No one makes any bones about that. It's like, oh, that's why they did this last time trialing. Well, and it won't be able to see that early on in the states. Six plaza Bill. Two thousand twelve the guys that are up there through Wiggins except for the is up there. But he didn't end up getting Get on the phone. your with those guys obviously dominated the tour. So I think by state six will we'll see who's gonna be the, you know, the favorites. I think will will know we'll have a good indication on that. And this year it's actually harder because I think it's a bit longer. It's a very difficult climate. They added to grab a section of the top. But I think the will be a slightly long climb in and the truth Revich door will come out and state six. And when I say, I'm unimpressed or or underwhelmed. I don't mean that I think it's easy. I think that I actually think you know, as as we see here if you go down the list of all the stages throwing in gosh, I mean in the first week. I mean, you go you got some there long. My point is that long stages. You've got to fourteen to fifteen then you've got to thirty and then a two eight I mean, they're going back to some longer days, which is biz bad news for the fan at home and wants to watch an exciting. That's so misleading to last year. They had the really short short thing. This is how we're going to animate it. Well, but then they take that away. But it might I mean, it might in the sense that those days add up to fourteen to fifteen three or four of those in the span of a week to try to get someone maybe crack, right? It would be a reverse animation. They would be going back front. Right. Right. Right. But that that those longer days man, especially if it's hot which it can be. It takes it out of the boys', no doubt. Definitely that. And also. Could be a very hot. And those those long stages can take it out of them. But it could be the opposite to last time and the tour two thousand nine racing call bar. It was foreing rain in really cold. Technical stays was okay. Oh, both very hot or cold. And raining was with these long stages will take a lot of the riders. Yeah. Yeah. Chris rooms your favorite. I take. It sounds like that's what I'm hearing from you. Chris was my favorite.
