Fresh update on "gary kubiak" discussed on Schlereth and Evans
"Put the finishing touches on it yesterday. We'll hear from prime. And a headache and a great answer. From Nikola Jokić, when asked the significance of now averaging a triple double this season. All that coming up in the morning brew next. It's time for a your morning brew, grab a cup of Joe and get caught up on everything you need to know. If you're a schlereth and Evans, ton of reaction, pouring in from around the NFL world to the hiring of Sean Payton, here's teddy brewski on ESPN. Why I say this can have an immediate impact is because if I'm a player in that locker room and say I'm a vet, like canty knows that Nick knows when head coaches are making decisions, we go through our own head and we're like, yeah, that's what I do. That's what I do. To have hack it last year and some of the things that he was doing is like, what? You think to yourself, what is going on around here? So is that the simplest thing? Let's start with when it comes to the benefits of Sean Payton. You are going to really for the first time since Gary kubiak. Have an adult in the room. Yeah, we'll have a guy that you're not like that you don't question. A guy that has answers. And obviously a big Fangio was an adult, but hey, what did you think of your offense today at training? I didn't really watch them. But yeah, then he wasn't an adult. Right. You're talking about the head coach of the defense. Coach, not the head coach of the defense. Yeah, no, I think that there is, I think that there is, say, there's a right way to do it. And that's the way we're going to do things. And like I've said for a long time and you think that you think that you've been working hard and prepping hard and studying hard and doing all those things, there's going to be a new, there's going to be a new standard that's going to be a little bit shocking to some. Yeah, you talk about that a lot that there are guys who've been a Bronco their entire career. Like a guy like Justin Simmons, and I'm not bagging on Simmons, but all he's known is one way, and he probably thinks this is the way it is, and he's probably getting ready to find out wow. What I thought I knew about the NFL? I guess I never knew 'cause he's gonna learn something new here. I am in our at a different facility every week of the year. For a Friday practice, I went to everyone. Go to every Friday practice. No, I think that I missed one because it was Thanksgiving. But I've gone to pretty much every Friday practice over 18 weeks. The difference in those practices, the difference in the tempo, the difference in the detail, the difference in the way teams practice, it's palpable. You can see it, you can feel it, you can taste it. And the teams that really show up. I walk out of some prices to go, that team's not very prepared. And I walk out of some practice going over that team that team is dialed in. And you can see it, Mike, you can definitely see it. Next on the morning brew prime. Prime. We coming, Deion Sanders, capping off an amazing first couple of months at CU. Let me start by saying, I absolutely love boulder Colorado. I really do. It was a hidden gem for me because I had no idea. Yeah, I ain't never been skiing. I really, but now I'm just ecstatic about veil and everything associated to this. I absolutely love it. I can't wait to get into a home. So I could lay down and chill and have a dog running around the yard and call a place home. That's got chills, did you? Look at that. Excited about that. I do believe you owe me a coffee too. They're recruiting class ended up being ranked 21st. I said they would be inside the top 30. You say no. Be around 50 or something. Is that the high school recruiting class? Not the transfer portal. Transfer portal, they're like number one. Recruiting class. Oh, okay. Yeah, I'll buy you coffee on that. All right, cool. I don't have a problem with that. Awesome. Next on the morning brew. Nikola Jokić. When asked how he feels now that he's averaging a triple double for the season. It's the short answer, so pay attention. How's he feel? That was it? How do you feel about averaging triple double? Big deal. Like, I don't care. Right. He doesn't eat it. He doesn't care. Love it. You hear a lot of athletes say, ah, yeah, these accomplishments. I'll look back on them when I'm in a rocking chair someday, right? But do you really believe them when they say that? Or are they well aware of what they have accomplished and what their accomplishment? Because with him, I really do get the sense. He doesn't care. The art of not giving a you know what? And a lot of guys talk about it. A lot of guys act as though they don't care. But they hear everything. Anything Aaron Rodgers has rabbit ears. The biggest. You think Brussels and as rabbit ears, you know, yeah? Jerry Judy. What's up, Doc? What's up, Doc? There's some dudes that really, they truly don't give a rip. There are few and far between. Most everybody's paying attention. I'll just say that. Well, in this case, I don't know if he's paying attention, but I'm paying attention because I just, I know what you said and you've talked to people who are connected with NBA MVP voters and that they don't want to vote for jokic for a third straight MVP just because he's never won a title, but if you average a triple double, you're winning. I'm sorry you gotta win it. How can you as a voter in good conscience? Yeah, maybe you even come out and say, hey, I'm doing this with some trepidation because he hasn't won a title and the other three players will Russell and bird bird that won three in a row. They won titles, but the dude just went on average a triple double. He's got to win the MVP. There's only two guys that have averaged the chip for local during the season. It's a big O, right? Yeah. And it's Westbrook. Yep. Both guards, right? Yes. He'd be the only big man in the history, the history of the NBA. And how long that is, gotta be close to a hundred years. To average a triple double, come on, dude, you guys think that would be the only guy ever to do it. Will didn't do it. Russell didn't do it. Kareem didn't do it. Yo, Robert parish didn't do it. Bill Walton, who is widely regarded as his best big man until jokic came along. Patrick Ewing didn't do it. He didn't do it. I mean, do we need to keep going with the big man names? Artist Gilmore never did it. Artist Gilmore never did it. Bobble it here never did it. I can do this all day long if you want. Jack sickman never did it. Yes, sick

"For a Broncos coaching hire since. When fill in the blank. Since Gary kubiak, okay, this is the most exciting hire since Gary kubiak. Because Sean Payton does have skins on the wall because Sean Payton has been successful because I expect him to help Russell Wilson be better because I expect him to take to teach this new ownership group on what an NFL franchise, it looks like how the organization is built, how to hierarchy works, all those things, these last several coaches had no experience with that. Sean Payton turned this ain't into saints. At least he was a big part of that. And I expect him to be able to do kind of bring back some of those ways that were lost when pat baller was no longer part of the picture. So you are a wildly enthusiastic about this move. I'm going to take that because normally you are very hard to please. So I'm going to take, I'm going to take that as a win. I think it is a win for the Broncos. Yeah, I have never said it's not a win. And I want to be clear that I've never said I'm not excited. I just can't get over the board excited until we start winning some football games. But I think this is a good move. You got to be coach who can best maximize Russell Wilson, who also along the way will help this organization be far better better off than they were when he walked in the door. By the time he leaves, this organization will be light years ahead of where they are today. Leave the over the board to me. That's you. That's you. I mean, I'm gonna be the over the board game. I'm still gonna be me, man. Yeah, I'll be the over the poor guy. No problem with that. Okay, hey, thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Yes. You all warmed up. Full lather. I'm ready to go. All right. Here we go. Players club with Chad Brown. And Nate Jackson. Coming up next.

"Cutting you and you're no longer playing for me. But we're having a pizza party and I want you to be there. There is that line where he's like, hey man, we're still tight. You're just not playing good. And I think that's, I think it's really hard for guys to be able to develop that line to draw that line in the sand because as you start to get emotionally attached to players, you tend to you tend to become friends and then it's harder to do your job. And I don't know what that is. I don't know if I just assumed that not everybody has that because I've seen it. Right. All right, and that's the perfect transition. You're listening to KK FN KK FN HD one Longmont Denver. So it was Monday when Brandon Stokely first breached this subject. And I think it's a fascinating one to discuss. If we're talking about previous head coaches with coaching experience that could seamlessly fit into this equation, Mike Shanahan? What do you think about Mike Shanahan, not as a consultant as the next Broncos head coach? Is it a possibility? And is it something they should pursue? I think it would be awesome. And I think they should pursue it. But I don't think it'll happen. I don't think Mike, well, I just know I had this conversation with Mike about getting back in. And this is before before Kyle was a head coach. And Mike would be like, I would get back in, but have to be the perfect situation, right? Control the quarterback, there's a lot of things that I'd have to do. Because we were talking about me going, I was talking to him about me going back and going back in, but going into coaching. And so should we have your name on the list? No, no. But you can put it on there if you want. But you tell me, do you want the job? This is your interview. You got a chance. No. You don't want to work with Russ? No, I would love to. I'd love to, I'd love to do that. Yeah. Let's rob. Yeah. We'd be riding together. But that said, when Kyle became a head coach, Mike just said, taking my name out. I'm not going to coach while my son's head coach. So he's consulting for the niners. He does a lot of things for the niners. I don't see that. And that was several years ago that we had that conversation, but I don't see that change. I just don't, I don't think that I don't see that changing. I don't see Mike coming back to coaching. Because it's Kyle's time. And he wants to be there to support his son. Okay. So I just, that's the conversation we've had. I don't think that's changed. I don't want to speak for Mike. Maybe it has. Maybe they'll reach out to him and maybe he's changed his mind. I don't know, but that was a conversation. I had several years ago with him and I just think that that he'll remain steadfast on that. Okay. Do you think a blank check could change his mind? I think Mike's done okay for himself. That's where we come back to in this conversation, right? Is the unlimited resources and hey, if the Broncos are actually going to bring in one of these big names, they may have to break the bank to do it. And we're going to be talking to Adam Schefter here coming up in just a few minutes and that's one thing that I'll be curious to know from Adam. Does he think that this new Broncos ownership group is going to set a record with a new head coaching contract because if you're talking about Jim Harbaugh, if you're talking about Sean Payton, you're going to have to get these guys a lot of money and we'll see how committed they are to the entire process because we talk about Mike Shanahan that leads me naturally into what about Gary kubiak. Again, Gary's health issues, you know, when it comes to coaching, yeah, I don't know, I don't know about that either. I don't know that he'd want to do that. Again, the blank check thing, but are you doing it just because they're paying a ton of money? Are you doing it because you really want to do it? You know what I mean? I don't want do you really want a guy that's just there because you're going to give him a ginormous check? Are you really want to do that just as like, man, I'm going to turn this thing around and I'm going to give this my dream job of turning around and this is going to be awesome. I don't know, it just feels like it feels like if you got to lure somebody off the couch because you're giving them a giant check, then they're not their heart is in a 100% into it. And I just think you need to be a 100% into it to have that. So you need to be a 100% into it, but you also need to have the frame of reference and depth of experience to be able to draw from to know how to install a system to know what you're looking at. We were just talking about Vance Joseph and his comments about what he learned from the Denver job saying that you don't really know what the job is until you walk in those shoes. Right. So to me, it seems like, really, if the Broncos are looking for a football CEO Mark, the list of candidates that they will have to interview can't be more than 5. I mean, there can't be more than 5 of those guys out there, right? Yeah, the guys that the guys that they're thinking about, the football kind of, quote unquote, CEO guys. Yeah, yeah, no. The list is the list is pretty short. I don't know beyond. We talked about Sean Payton Jim Harbaugh. We've talked about Dan Quinn. We talked about Frank Ryan. I don't know that there's like who else is out there that would be on your list of maybe a Jim Caldwell. That's what I was thinking of. Jim Caldwell, yeah. What do you think about Jim Caldwell? What's your relationship with a guy like a Jim Caldwell? I don't know him well. I know him well enough to have sat with him in a couple of meetings and talk to him. He's a great dude. The guys have the players have great reverence for Jim Caldwell. So they really respect him, but he's a quiet dude. In my experience, and again, I'm not behind closed doors with him other than watching him at a Friday practice and sitting down with him and talking to him. So I don't know what he is behind closed doors where he's talking to his players or his coaches, but he seems fairly fairly even tempered, mild mannered guy. And I was talking to Stokely about this. He said, every coach he's ever had other than Tony dungy, there was a fear of that guy, just a fear of that dude is like a can be a tyrant, right? If things are done the right way, Tony junji was in that way, but he said you just had such reverence for Tony dungy. For the man that he was, that that trumped everything else. He'd never wanted to let the guy down. So I suppose that Jim Cole could be that kind of could be that kind of coach because he was under Tony dungy. That's how he kind of came up. So I suppose he could be that kind of coach. Hey, it's Mike Evans. Silk to heart motors understand sometimes bad things happen to good people. That includes bankruptcy. "The previous two years, 2020, 2021. Do you know the quarterback with the best rating through 6 weeks in each of those seasons? You told me this. It was Russell Wilson, unbelievable. Russell Wilson didn't just forget how to play quarterback. Right. Russell Wilson did not fall off a cliff. Okay? There's still plenty of good football left in Russell Wilson. You've got to find a way to bring it out of them. And so that's why last week was a good week for him. Because this is even more on Hackett, and it's even more George Payton. And the talent or lack thereof that's around him. This is not a Russell Wilson prom. No. No. I'm sorry, you are not the last two years, the highest rated quarterback through 6 weeks of the season, and have forgotten how to play football this year. You just haven't. This is what you're allowing Russell Wilson to do. How you're asking him or how you're letting him play as opposed to that's the key. That's what you're saying. No, no, no, no, no. That's not how we're built. This is what we're going to do. That's where you need to Gary kubiak type of guy. You know where you need the guy that you and I both kind of wanted it initially. And I'm not saying that, hey, listen, I really like Nathaniel Hackett, the guy. But when you are a rookie head coach, you know what you don't have? You don't have the clout or the authority to say ha ha. But you should, but you don't. Like, Gary kuby I come in and go, no, Russ. That ain't what we're doing. You can't do that. I don't think you can play that way. So we're going to do it the way I want to do it. Hank, you thought that he did it to Peyton Manning. You do have to pay many. You love that. You do to anybody. Hey, this is how we're going to win a championship. I'm not worried about your stats or the way you operate. I'm worried about winning. And this is what we're going to do. I just don't see how Nathaniel Hackett survives this year. It's so unbelievably foreign to me to even think that way, but I don't see you coming out of this spiral. Like you were in the, you were in this Eddie going down the drain, right? Just swirling around. And I don't know how you're going to pull yourself out of that. Mike florio from pro football talk had this to say about Hackett. And I'll read part of it. He says, some coordinators can become effective head coaches. Some can't. Hackett has proven through 7 games that he can't. Should he get the rest of the year to prove what we already know? Some guys like Brian dabel and Kevin O'Connell can figure it out right away. Other show us sooner than later that they can't. There's no shame in not thriving as an NFL head coach. Few NFL coaches are able to become an effective head coach, hack it like north Turner and wade Phillips. Maybe just better off suited to being a coordinator. For ownership that didn't hire Hackett, they need to ask themselves whether it makes sense to make an in season shift to defensive coordinator, is your ever own? Why not give him an 8 game on the job addition? If they're already thinking about parting ways with Hackett after the season, why not do it as the buy week arrives and 9 games remain to be played? That's Mike florio from pro football talk. All right. Gosh. And again, he came back to what I talked about yesterday. To me, the biggest story that remains over the rest of the season. Yeah, let's see if there's a way to just get Russell Wilson trending. So we can feel better about this investment. But to me, the biggest story is, how do these owners new to the situation inheriting so much of this, what is their view of what they are watching? And what kind of changes do they want to make? How do they feel that this is affecting the business? As florio said, again, there's no shame in the fact that it's not working. One of the keys to running a non dysfunctional organization is to not compound a mistake by making another one while trying to justify the first one. If nothing else make it a bold and big move could help persuade the paying customers that new management isn't messing around. That vibe is exactly what the Broncos currently seem to need. Yeah. Come on, the fans have made it clear. We're over it. We're tired of it. All we've seen is bad football for the last 6 years. We're sorry. Yeah, that means we'll leave before and overtime is started. We'll leave when the Broncos get the ball back late in the game is still have three timeouts. We're still leaving. Yeah. We know what we're watching isn't ultimately the answer. Do something about it. And the best thing you can do right away, what do you what does everybody? What do fans want to do media? What does everybody love the idea of? Change. Right. Change. And the promise and the potential of what that change could bring. Right. That's exactly. And that's the thing that blows me away about this offense. Is you keep saying you're close. You keep saying you're a play away. Do you make one play is all of a sudden you're going to score 24 points off a one play? Do they have a 14 point touchdown? Like a big change they changed that rule because you're not one play. You're not even close to one play away from this being good. And unless you're willing to say, put your foot down as a coaching staff. And if you're not willing to put your foot down and basically tell Russ, this is what we're doing. And I know this is what you wanted to do, but what you want to do, you're not good at it, right? You just can't, you can't play that way. And it doesn't fit you. It doesn't suit you. You don't see it. You don't whatever. But here's where here's where I'm just going to go ahead and lay it out there. Is if you as a coaching staff don't have onions enough to put your foot down, then you're not the right coach. Because while I do not think that Russell Wilson is forgot how to play football. Right. And from that standpoint, this isn't on him. The refusal. The stubbornness, however you want to describe it, to insist the continue to try to play quarterback this way. Because he wants it to be different than what he did in Seattle. That is on him. He does share blame in that. Sure. But you're right. If he's not going to be able to see it himself, then you have to tell him. You have to. And you have to tell him this is what this is the way we're going to. And so if he wants to change everything of line of scrimmage or he wants to be in shotgun and change it, then you get under center. There you have call and run a tank place. Is what we're going to call this is what we're going to run. And by the way, you know, here's the other thing. When you have a group of guys up front that aren't necessarily great Mike, okay? You know what's bad? Is when you put them in a position where they have to read where they have to sit there on their haunches and go, okay, we're going to run it. We're going to pass it. My quarterback is going to change. You know, it's the best for guys that maybe aren't as gifted or aren't as great, haven't developed the skill yet required. I mean, you got a young guy who's a division three football player in minors. You got a guy that plays center that I think is still an average play. I think you've got an average left guard who's got a back issue, you know? I mean, so I think you've got average players up front. You know, average tackles right now at best average, maybe backups that are starting. The worst thing to do is go, okay, now we're going to put you in a position where you have to read everything. No, no, no, no. Let's line up and

"The end of the season this whole thing though is what's interesting is everybody wants fi fangio fire and i get it. I do too. Everybody wants pat. Shurmur gone and i get it same way von miller. I agree with all that but with the new ownership situation and the way john elway has set things up over the last five years. Your hands are tied. I don't don't do the broncos do anything right now. does it make sense. I mean let's write it out the thing. Is they have the talent. Yeah the more are there. Which is what's really frustrating. Okay do they really need to rebuild anything. They've got the guys there. They've got good young players. Who just need to get healthy altogether. You know so if you've got that the finger definitely starts pointing to who's coming up with the game plan for these guys to execute the game play. The slow starts definitely fall right on the head coaches other. The slow start can be determined by head coach in in my opinion. If they're coming out flat like that you're obviously not doing something in the pregame warmups. You're not getting them going. In the locker room beforehand. That motivation from the head coach. Isn't there something. I picked up from the post game last night. And we're gonna play some of this back today Vic has a phrase that he likes to most head coaches say we and us. He says they when he talks about this team. We had them in the right spot but they didn't execute they didn't do. He's not taking any of that ownership. He doesn't see himself as a head coach. He eases coordinator. That's holding a clipboard. He's not a head coach. This was a terrible higher from the beginning when johnno a higher this guy at the age of sixty one that that doesn't bother me. It's the fact that i never been ahead code. Sixty one young but he'd never been a head coach before. There's a reason for if you're gonna do that. You go with the guy that's brand new into the system you missed out on kyle shanahan for joseph. You missed out on a lot of these young and up and coming coaches. And i don't even need them to be young and upcoming but give me a history of something you wanted of defensive-minded guy. Gary kubiak was an offensive minded guy..

"He's not even close to that in half pr. He's close is top fifteen four straight years in top twelve three of the four years but in full. Pr top eight three the last four years per game. Okay we love these guys You know no issues here and jamie real quick on on the three of them on jefferson brown and keenan allen. Do you see one as a potential buster. Do you feel very safe with all three of them. I mean jefferson just with the injury. Now know that's the concern because the sample size is small and the the defense will be better for minnesota. The run game is going to be really good There is the potential of irv smith being that much better than kyle rudolph in commanding more targets opportunities in taking away touchdowns and obviously adam feeling doing a little bit more than just finding the ends on. So he's the one that has some probably more concerns than the other two. But i think you know. He's he's still East losing with potential. You know it's hard to overlook what he was able to accomplish last year. If quinn kubiak is different than gary kubiak and mike zimmer is more open to allowing offense to be not just you know. Throw when you have to then. He's got a chance to absolute and let's face it obviously drafting justin jefferson in a different spot than we were drafting. Stefan digs but the exam. Feeling really good together. you know. it's not like they were superstar this level so i don't think if it reverts back to their running the ball more you know what we saw in two thousand nineteen as opposed to twenty twenty. You're still going to get a really good receiver injustice percent but you may be taking him ahead of you know somebody who could be a little bit better behind him. Koren robinson alan. He'll depending on how it goes. So that's that's the thing you know it's like when we were talking about who could be a bust if jefferson is the eighth receiver off the board and he finished his twelve. You know if it's if it's within you know not too much of a distance of the points then you're not going to be upset but if he if it's huge gap then that's where he becomes more of us. Yeah i'm glad you mentioned that with the with the fantasy points sometimes. There is a really big gap between wide receiver rate and wide receiver twelve. Sometimes there isn't right. We're gonna take a break and the show and tomorrow we'll start it off with the middle of round three and alan robinson cd lambs harry mclaren and then after that round four gets into the buck skies amari cooper the rams guys and we will. We'll take it from there. We'll give you some of our favorite late round picks and and just keep in mind. Last year i mean t higgins had a stretch where he was just phenomenal. You don't see rookies do it brandon. I hadn't even better stretch So those guys potentially hope. I hope so chase clayton. They're not gonna be one bad one. You mean the second year. Guys in other rookies rookie right..

Afford a Cincinnati that includes Sunday's game by a final score of 3 to 1 not let taking away, though, from a great first half of the season. I think it's disappointing. I think if you sit back and you know, at the beginning of the season and say Hey, at all Star break, you were being first. Place. Nobody's gonna say no to that. Yeah, Obviously, we didn't make the gap bigger. But we're in first place and we're gonna focus on the second half when it gets here that is outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. The brew is going to be really well represented in this week's All Star game in Denver. Aaron Rodgers has earned the right to handle this exactly the way he wants to exactly the way he wants to because of his performance in the way he's represented the Green Bay Packers. "The stadiums of the least met about But the way that they were called, and it was three highlights of him. Broncos here it was Tony Dungy. Holy and Say what you got to say. The appetizer we gotta hear from Gary Kubiak. It's like mine. Goodness right, Like I get the recency bias. He wanted all the way there. I don't think I was there. I don't believe so. But it's like, what do we like, right, like four years are like the first thing I was telling stupid for, Like the 1st 30 years of Peyton Manning's courage doesn't don't exist in Indianapolis that never happened Wild and Drew Pearson is going to join us tomorrow. The newly Named Pro Football Hall of Famer, which is awesome, because last year we all recall that he thought he was going to get in and he goes. I can't believe they did me like that. And now this year he gets in those those shots. I could watch it all all day. Where you have David Baker, who is maybe the largest human being on the planet. And he is a jovial human being whenever my time is up on this world If I get met in heaven, don't you gotta kind and hopefully I go to heaven, Don't you kind of think David Baker is going to be the one that's creating you to have it. He doesn't even seem real. The Charles Woodson. Reaction was great, Alan Fan. Icka was awesome. All them they were wonderful. Calvin Johnson. That was ridiculous. How? How they did inform everybody. One thing I will ask. Get these guys knew that it was coming now pay to knew he was getting in. Do you think paid him was genuinely surprised. For example, Charles Woodson. They did some interview to try to set it up. And then he once David Baker shut up. It even took him about 25 seconds. Only I'm doing it. You guys were all in on this. The genuine surprise I thought was really neat. I like it to be like, so we didn't obviously didn't have the knock on the door. So it's you don't really know how it's gonna happen. Think it makes any honest, even better this year, the hotel you hear the knock. It's like I'm not trying to say that it takes away the excitement, but it's like you know.

"Coach? And that may be, too. Shawn Watson looks at hiring David Cully as some type of empty gesture to him. That's the only thing I could think of here because, as I said yesterday, and I do believe this I think that to Sean want I'd like to see him sit down with David Collie. Because the reports and the reputation are that Cully is a really warm, optimistic, genuine guy. And that has been in that has been in dire need. In Houston since Bill O'Brien took over. Gary Kubiak was that type of guy. He connected a lot of people. He'd listen to you. He was somebody that brought invoices and said, You know, let's do this as a team. Bill O'Brien was autonomous. She wanted to be a dictator. He wanted to kick and scream and yell and melt down and do it his way. And Bill O'Brien, one a couple of games there won a couple of divisions. But ultimately, Bill O'Brien stick war thin when the team started tuning him out, and he's still kicking and screaming and yelling. That doesn't work anymore. And then you just seem like a petulant over sized child, which is what Bill A prime really kind of is. So O'Brien gets pushed out and most of the organization I'm sure feels exhausted off dealing with somebody that is kind of my way or the highway and emotionally very Strict on edge and can't kind of control his anger or whatever. So Cully walks in, and is the exact opposite. He's kind of a gentle voice that's been an assistant coach for a really long time build relationships. Offense of guy worked under Andy Reid worked under John Harbaugh and has a lot of respect, so I would like the idea. Of the Sean wanted at least the listing to Cully happen. I'd like the concept of them sitting down and talking. For it to happen. But if to Shawn Watson is not even willing to listen, does not even care and says I'm requesting a trade on the day or I have, and it's now announce on the day they hire a head coach. It tells me two things. Number one. That whatever Cal McNair and or jockey Jack Easterby did to do. Shawn Watson is irreparable that they screw this up so badly that everything else doesn't matter that you, Shawn Watson, is that Dent and maybe it's personal. Maybe it's real personal. I don't know. But something happened. Where to Shawn Watson, who is by all accounts, a great dude. I mean, the guy has had an impeccable reputation from high school on The fact that I mean JJ Watt after 4 12 season, wraps his arm around and walking off the field week. 17 it says, Man, we wasted one of your years. You deserve better than that. I don't think the Shawn Watson saying that or doing that for the camera, and I don't think you sing. You're doing that to a jerk or a guy that he doesn't really respect. That's JJ freaking. Why By all accounts are shown. Watts is a great guy. That Cal McNair and Jackie Jackie Easterby whose ride in counting nears, You know what could possibly Anger frustrate, alienate, too. Shawn Watson. This badly is the biggest sin and the biggest crime on their hands. And as I've said before, if I'm McNair I am firing Jackie's to be yesterday. What's what's it worth? What is it worth? It's worth losing your franchise quarterback. A 25 years old to keep on a team chaplain mean give me a break. So maybe this is too Shawn Watson saying Choose me or him. Me or Jacque Easterby. Who knows? Maybe it's that power play. But the second part that it tells me is That he must view the hiring of Holly with a bit of a side. I That maybe he thinks Oh, now they're just trying to curry favor with me. Or now they care about what I think, Or maybe even think Cali's a good candidate. Because he suggested Robert Saleh and they didn't even basically give him a sniff or whatever it Woz. That He thought that they did wrong. But the second part is that the hiring of Cully Is met with skepticism from the Shawn Watson. And again. Maybe he thinks this is a hollow shallow move by Cal McNair to try to say like, Hey, look, we hired this guy and who knows? Who knows for those reasons why to Shawn Watson have used it that way. Like those two things that I would read into this situation that yesterday. I mean to Shawn Watson couldn't even wait after like the announcement. You couldn't wait until today or next week. That somehow the day that they hire announced the hiring of The head coach. He says, Yeah, I'm requesting a trade. I mean, the bridges are burning. In Houston, and it is It is such a crime that they did this and they ruin this because you you had him bought in to a huge extension a year ago. You're a go to Sean wanted wanted to end his career is a Houston, Texas a year later. He's asking for a trade. And he's got a new no trade clause. I mean, he did have a no trade clause, so it didn't seem like you wanted to be traded. It's a devastating turn of events for that organization. Devastating They must have really, really messed this thing up and Apparently announcing Mikis area of the GM, while the Sean wanted was on vacation was a bridge too far. That he might have felt as though they did that basically behind his back because they knew that he wouldn't like it. That he had offered them some suggestions or they had a search firm and that they went against all of that to hire Jack Easter B's best friend, while the Sean wants was on vacation. And that apparently does not sit well and frankly, I don't blame him. Your phone number's 855 to 1 to four CBS or on Twitter, D A on CBS. Amos in Tennessee has dialed us up and Amos, I come to you with my hat in my hand. I apologize for keeping you on hold the last couple of days and not getting to you. How are you, buddy? I won't do a well, thank you for taking my call in. It's no problem. I I enjoy listening. And if I get through, I get through to their problem. Um, I mean, really, This is also on your sister, too, for calling at that exact moment. Well, you know how women are when they get in the car. You know their first instinct to call somebody in my sister's no different, You know, she loves to talk on the phone, and my biggest concern was embarrassing, Pete. And I didn't want to end up in the you know, in the same categories that bozo from New Mexico and I had so much to tell you. I wanted to tell you that your port but look real good. And over the weekend. And um and, uh, Miss Tennessee coach and higher It's a real interesting one effort, so I thought it was strong that the nepotism and I thought about what the offense could be and what Kevin Steele taken helmet, the defensive. It's out of the ball. Hey, have strong recruiting ties that you know he does things the right way, And he did things the right way. Auburn and you know they were too formidable defense there at Auburn, and, um, I really think he's steady force. That could hold that Tennessee program intact in I'm not a fan. I just worked there, and I gotta say the atmosphere is real nice, and you know they're easy to root for once you're down there in that in that environment, you work at UT Yes, sir. I run the security for the south ends and Oh, cool. All right. So, So what's the vibe on the Heiple hire our people starting to buy and a little bit warm up to what are they still kind of.

"From the 30356 for the Detroit coach. Clip was freaking awesome. I needed that. Yeah, from the three or 3947 Talk about Gary Kubiak and Philip Rivers Retiring. Thanks. Yes, all day yesterday. Koop's is gonna retire from the NFL. You think it's because he's not feeling great? Are that he's just I don't know. I'm not. I have not have not talked to him in quite a while. He's only 59 seems a little young. True. True he was retiring before right. They could. Then he retired because of what you said. When we collapsed on the sideline and That he went back. He was the play caller for the Vikings. I find it unless there's something else and again. This is pure speculation on my part, but I find it hard to believe unless he's got something physically going on that if 59 Gary Kubiak is done With football at some level I I just think that's hard for me to buy into Yeah, it's very demanding job. So Yeah, being a coach in the NFL, and do you believe he'll be in the ring of Fame? Super Bowl winning coach. Long time back up here, much beloved. Back up to John Elway. Um gosh, That is a really good question. I had not thought about that at all. I would think he'll get consideration. I would think to. I mean, I'm on the committee. Have to, you know, look at the entire body of work. You mean he's been involved in some of the bigger some of the biggest moments in Broncos history? S Oh, yeah, I think he would get. I think you get a lot of consideration for the ring of fame. So he was backup quarterback in all of those Super bowls that they lost with John Elway. Nine years. He was put back up quarterback, and then he was, I believe the offensive coordinator In the ones they won without. That is correct. So, yeah, I would think that's a pretty good resume right there. In Broncos history. Well, he mean, he wouldn't get in on the back of quarterback argument that would not be sufficient to get into the ring fame, but it does speak to his longevity. On importance in the organization. I don't think he'd get in. On the offensive coordinator for the two Super Bowl wins Super Bowl 32 33. In and of itself. But then he was the head coach of the team that won Super Bowl 50. So when you compile all of that together I think it's I think it's worth having the discussion. We call that body of work, Dave, his body of work nicely done. When you look at it all. I think he would. He's in the discussion. That's a good way to put it. Good dude, too. Yep. They're evidently has been a crash and I 25 near Loveland. We have no details on that. Let's see if we can find out more with somebody that texted us about that asking will. It was saying that was taking five hours to clean it up it Zob Vesely, a big crash, but we don't know. Too many of the details about that in a texture, asking if we're going to talk about Hank here, and we did at the top of the show. We are aware that he passed away at 86 Yeah, Hall of Fame legendary baseball player. They just showed that clip. On ESPN and hear of him circling the bases, and it was two guys. That were kind of chased him down right about between shortstop and third base. They weren't chasing him down to a cost him. They just wanted to celebrate with him, But But you couldn't mean that just speaks to the different time that That happened, right? You couldn't do that mean you holy cow. You know, Security's a lot on rightfully so a lot higher these days. It was dangerous, just jump out of the stands and say We're going to go try to round the bases with Hammer and Hank and that was the era when people which streak games, naked guys would jump on the field run across the field. I don't know. Seven. It just would run and jump out of the stands. Come out of the stand naked. Yeah, was the thing was a surprise you somebody would go naked down the street? No, not at all, because I've never had that before. That seems disgusting that anyone would ever do that. Anybody can depends on who it is. But why would anybody G not something that Rick and I would consider doing it for obvious reasons. I don't think anybody really needs to see us. Nobody would want to see that. Nobody wants that. Nobody needs that. Nobody wants to see Nobody's asking for that. Streaking. What depends on what man I'm speaking strictly of you and me. I think you could say that about 99% of the men. Oh, I think there's some men that the be a lot of people that would say Hell, yes, Yeah, There's a few out there. Female and male. Yeah, but women. It was the guy that play Who's the big? What's that dude's name? George Clooney. Don't think I think George is you know George is an attractive guy for sure. But I think he's past his prime in terms of streaking naked now the rock You know, he might be.

"That was a big, big topic today. People were going on and on about man, just how he kind of definitely kept that ship afloat where it's a Manning is nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions or something like that. It gets benched. After he sets a record against Kansas City and then time record that is hurt chronicle her, but he was he was hurt. It just wasn't like right. He could've played him. He couldn't play through, but but he was he was not. He's not the guy. And then they bring in broadcast Wyler, who does a great job in relief, and then week 17 goes back demanding, but we can. We can spend a lot of time on that. But what? I watched that game And I just saw like the culmination of it. And just how their stars which was von Miller. DaMarcus Ware Manning, of course, because of the star power the he brings, but I mean, Emmanuel Sanders was nails. Looking nails. They just had the right guys with the right leadership step up at the right time and again that comes back to the coach pushing the right buttons. That's the thing that stands out to me over wall. We talk about the quarterbacks, but he goes to the entire team. Yeah, I don't envy somebody being in that position. But he just had that inmates gut feeling to make the call and then broadcast water to be perfectly clear broadcast whether outplayed Peyton Manning that year, he was a better quarterback than Peyton Manning was that season. And they might have won a championship with him. They might have had something in Gary Kubiak's Gut said If I'm gonna turn this is the time to do it. And he did that happen to be the you know the right there. Peyton had just enough left to push him over the finish line or get drug of the finish line, depending on how you look at it. So if if Brock Osweiler let's say he does play through and they win a championship with broadcast weather, is he back? Oh, yeah, because he was upset about the Chargers. That's where the decision was made. And it wasn't really him. So much is his camp. That kind of push that broadcast. Why there's kind of an affable guy know if you would talk to broadcast whether it's kind of Ah, surfer dude, kind of, you know, kind of got that laid back. You know, kind of demeanor, I guess when you talk to him, and so if he gets riled up about something, um there's there's a problem, you know, and him and his camp. I mean, his his agent and his his old lady. You know, we're a big part of that, and they were really upset about it. And you know that blood over in his His mind and his life and you know you talk to him. Now He's got some regrets about that kind of stuff, you know, and then be honest with you. He had. Hey, talked Toc talk to somebody else. The Pac 12 network while back and he talked to somebody about it, and Hey, was talking about his time in Miami toward the end, and he was like, Honestly, I'll play the best football my life at that point, you know, um, and they think it just did finally started to come together for him at that point. And he, um he couldn't get anybody calling. You know after that database thing, and then he couldn't get anybody to pick up the phone and and and bring him in any kind of, you know, kind of realized that he actually he hated football for a while, after which, in retrospect, Now that we've seen how much success everybody tends to have after Adam case Everybody should have been. There might have been the conversation for leading VP Look at the chant ago. Every word, right? I allowed to say it. All you have to do is spend any time with out of gays. And you realize that your career is just starting at that point, right? Man. I can't wait to see Sam Donald break every record in the league monster, right? Oh, my gosh. Why do you think we've apparently table to trade for Sam Donald says is very, very good reason for that. Anyway, So Yeah, that was that was kind of my my thoughts. I was watching the NFC championship game is just you know what a great job he did, pushing all the right buttons. You know what kind of kind of gets to you know? What does Vic Fangio do? I mean, because you got a fast forward here to what? What Vic Fangio does about pushing the right buttons, right has to be kind of the right question. And so far there are times when we see that. I mean, there are moments where Considering the Amount of starters that they were missing on the defensive side and then still holding Kansas City to 22 points on the road in prime time that that was pushing the right buttons. Yeah, like the key had moments this year Now there were moments where he didn't push the right buttons, huh? But that I'm not saying he has to be Gary Kubiak. But that's what that's what the head coach does in a lot of ways of Gary Kubiak and lead offensive month, right And he's I mean, you know Vic Fangio to his credit, clearly an elite defense of mind. But you know there was there was something about the way he managed the whole team. He was able to do the whole thing. I don't know if it does that, and I don't know it might take him a while to get there. Now, Remember, Gary Kubiak had plenty of years of experience being a head coach down in Houston before he came to Denver. So it's not like like this was his first rodeo. This is Vix First Rodeo on Lee, two years in The way you know 34 to 5 year contract, Potentially He hasn't been pushing all the right buttons on the office. This seems pretty obvious at this point. Well, yeah. Vick wants to be aggressive on office. But he wants to be kind of hands off. You know, One thing that struck me today is New York Jets and Robert Sala. Yeah, and Robert Salas, the defensive coordinator, but he very vehemently said right there is pressure. I'm not gonna be calling the place my defensive coordinators doing that. I'm the head football coach, and he wanted to differentiate those two positions. Vic Fangio doesn't do that. You failed your calls, the defensive plays and he's He's the defensive coordinator and the head football coach, Robert Salas. Different approach that everybody's got their own thing. Not one way stop right or wrong or whatever, but that struck me today was I was I was watching that I was like, Well, you know, I mean, he kind of has a hands off approach on the offense. He really doesn't you know, really just kind of delegates at and trusts that that's going to get done and goes from there. He wants to be aggressive. It's not like most defensive coaches where they kinda want to be conservative, and you know that kind of stuff. He wants to be aggressive. You know, He got two delegates that you know, I don't know if that's I don't know That's a good or bad thing. Is it too much on his plate? Because there's gonna be too much on Robert Solace Plate. Is it too much on somebody who's an offensive coach and a play called Big shot?.

"Gary Kubiak recommends Jordan made, um So you know, there's there's I think it's honestly I think it's those two names with Terry found on third. That's what that's the way I feel and the other names are not real contenders. Dave Ziegler's not gonna get this job. Um and and so, you know, I think that if you're looking at this, and um askew go into this. There's a scenario where if you like them both. There's a scenario where you could come away with potentially both of them. Oh, I'd love that love that. Just a thought. Just something to mull around hasn't been brought up yet. I'll be gone Most. Everybody to this point is either said that they wish there were other names. Some of the bigger names that John Dorsey's of the world out there They mean, it didn't seem like that. That's really direction that they wanted to go. They didn't want to go with the Over established former GM of a team They wanted to go with one of the more the young up in coverage. And I guess that begs the question then Ben is that is that likely the best. Decision for the Broncos. They the wide net, the critical white net or a lot of guys that that haven't been G M's but have been right there and they've taken interviews, and some of them had experience with this organization. Some have not. What do you think about the neck that they ultimately decided to cast makes a good net. I think they have good candidates and there. I would not have interviewed Ziegler with the rest of them. Um, I understand what they're doing. You know you and getting a different perspective from a different organization. I think that if it's me, um You know, it's interesting to me how in this particular search people like, Well, they didn't your view people with previous GM experience. But when you get to a head coaching search, it's the opposite. They're all like We don't want to reach red. And so I find that amusing. The disparity between the two I think that all these guys have plenty of experience. They've all been around and in front office experience for a decade, plus, most of about 15 years. So you know if there's a scenario, which you could get two of these guys, you feel both of my qualified enough to have general manager If you get two of these guys in your front office to me, that's that's a no brainer. And for that, to happen would be paid. This gentle manager and champion is pro papers Now where you move up from assistant. Yeah, promotion for both right. And then that would be opportunity. And you be basically looking at the future of what would be your front office right there. George Payton has a connection to Had Sherman Yes. Uh, Champ Kelly has connections to Nick Foles and Vic Fangio and John Elway. Um, you know, And so I think that either one of those guys in the scenario where you could get both, I think are ideal. Okay, So let me ask you about Brian Stark. Who's in the in House candidate and and the right now kind of slated the interview last, which is sort of funny. The only reason I bring up is because the last two coaching hires a John Elway made corsets. Coincidently, the last people he interviewed Beings. Joseph and Vic Fangio ended up being last on that group. So I'm not saying that it's good news for Bryant Stark. But I guess if you want to make a last impression, that is where you get a chance to do that, But Let's just take this on its face here if they decide to go with Brian Stark. What does that say? Says they weren't impressed with the other candidates. Okay? Says they weren't on the same page with those guys and the in house guy was on the same page with where they wanted to go. Is that because there I think a lot of Broncos fans will be a bit underwhelmed. That's not just taking with a way for Brian Start because I think Brian start deserves opportunities as well. I mean, he's done a good job scouting for this team. He's their director of scouting, but The fact is, people will say it's gonna be more of the same in that respect in this team has been losing so people will find ways to complain about anything. Well, they've already started to complain about this group. They're under out there. Let's just say there are they even named a general manager. Yet they haven't even interviewed. All these guys had their already complaining. That's that's what that's what hater, you know, Hater. Ade gets You hate a radio. All those guys, you know? It's just rip rip everything find a way to complain about it. We're not gonna do that here. Um, the it says that they weren't on the same page. I don't think that's gonna happen. And I think that the reason you're interviewing him last because you're giving everybody a chance to, you know, to convince you otherwise and then go to the gatehouse guy. The the reason that they interviewed the head coaches last Was because they did like them. They were the prohibitive favorite little bit differently. The gentleman's situation. You look for something to replace you not submit a report to you in that regard, you know, um, a decision maker. And so John Elway had some favorites. And he decided to let the other guys interview first to convince him and move him off. That favorite not have did With this particular situation, I would suggest that it's not the same thing. Having someone go last is not the same as it was during the head coach stuff. In fact, it's coincidental. I know I'm just I'm just having a little bit of fun. This particular situation I would almost say would go the other direction. Could be favorites would've interviewed first and then well, it's certainly based on your reporting. I would say that's I would say that in the favorites interviewed first in this scenario, Okay, So you know you're the first person that's brought up the idea of of multiple guys here because you're right. It would be a promotion for both put and I, You know, I think that that is invaluable. I think that getting Smart guys like surrounding yourself with smart people is a way to be successful. You know, Find yourself smart people that are capable of disagreeing with you Surround yourself with those kind of people and you'll always be. You always do well. I don't have any year contracts. Are you looking for these guys like for whatever the GM because I mean, certainly there's a lot going on with his organization from the ownership side of things. Obviously, you're talking about eventually John Elway stepping out altogether the organization if not next year than around that time. Certain..

"Competitive rates. Sunflower Bank member F D i. C this'll is big Al and Joe Joe, look at a rock thrown in my motor head today. Welcome back to big L. A judge on care when he was ready away 50 a. M and 94 1 and famine. Of course, everywhere on the free I heart radio app. We had a long discussion yesterday. On and we even had it with our NFL network. It's Saturday and wrap report about What the Philadelphia Eagles did. On Sunday night and in big gala as a former player in this league. You thought it was. You thought it was a disgrace. Yeah, I thought it was I thought what I saw on Sunday night. You got to remember the NFL has a right to flex. The last Five weeks or six weeks of the NFL season two Sunday night. That's the NFL's doing along with NBC's contract, the best game. Has the most implications are played on Sunday night. In the last month of the football season. The Eagles had the last Monday night football game. It just tells you how important the game was and what it meant for. The NFC East. Okay. They played the Washington football team. And they did the unthinkable. And moments where obvious situations presented themselves. They did the opposite. And I had you know, I haven't seen some now. There was a moment when Julia drivel Drew Andrew Luck was coming out of Stanford. The can't miss. Overall, he's the best. Draft pick Okay in the history of the NFL. Since John Elway. And the coach had Moment there where they could have won a game and they did something that was ridiculous. But it wasn't as bad as what the Eagles did by changing out the quarterback and not taking the three points that were presented to you. From the three yard line on fourth down when you had when you had struggled to score on the possessions before that, Now, listen, I know that is being talked about it. I know it's being talked about on the national level, but I can imagine in Philly It's being talked about a time. Anthony Gargano talk show host of 97 5. The fanatic in Philly is joining us on the hotline. And Anthony, I could just imagine the Eagles fans are probably a little bit Thorne about what they saw. How do you guys feel about this? Now you're right. Dig out. Judge agreed. Period will be with you guys. Um, it's embarrassing. And I will tell you and I'm quoting a lot of the callers that It was embarrassing Move. It was weak. It was a bad move without Pearson decided to do Here's Here's what I think it would happen. This is what I kind of know that they went into the plan and they went. I We're gonna go with their bones, right? We're gonna went is gonna be inactive because betrayed him. We don't want to risk injury will keep out certain guys, and then it will be part of the plan was the place. I thought at some point, but they thought that they would be down big right? So it makes sense. Except when you're in the game she wants you kick off. You got to play a game. You can't lay down. You can't tank. Listen, we're the city of the tank right like asked the Sixers. The process was born in Philadelphia. Fine. Once you kick off or tip off, you can't be thrown games Man. That's when you got real issues, and that's what Peterson did. It was unthinkable. You big al. You brought it up. It worked out the five yard line and you're not going to kick the field goal. It is the guy who goes for all the time. He taunted fourth and one from midfield on their first possession. It was weak and it was shameful. Eiji, I got asked, Uh, I gotta ask you this man because Like you said. You know, Philly fans are like Bronco fans or they're passionate about their team. And you know, having a championship in the last few years, it really means a lot to this organization. Here in Denver, and I know it means a ton to you guys there in Philly. You guys cool with the Peterson right now. No. Well, first of all, I'm with you he's through. He's the most overrated coach. It'll the NFL and it's not for that Super Bowl. He would have been fired anyway. And he bailed out that you're I tell you He was lucky that they want I've been in lifelong Fuck the resident. I lived in Chicago, New York sports writer but I was born in the shadow of Veterans Stadium. So I do love that team and I've never sold Super Bowl and they wanted great. But let me tell you something. That guy is a horrible coach and bad luck. You can't think on its feet and I think he flubbed it. I think we should They want to get the sixth pick. Yeah, I'm sure that's part of the deal didn't get anybody hurt. But he can't think on his feet and that game was tied. And here's the worst thing his players having, like, figure out how to look you in the face. No. When I didn't give you a chance to win the game. I mean, that's the thing. Forget it up picks. Forget about the Giants feel about that. It's about how do I look? Jalen hurts. They say. Hey, Jalen, Uh, you know, I'm asking you to do something. When I took you out. I didn't respect you went off to let you finish the game. I mean, what's that say they figured out what that say you Well, I'll tell you this. We had a situation here in Denver just about three years ago with Gary Kubiak was a head football coach going into the last game. And Trevor Simeon was the starting quarterback for US and Gary Kubiak said he wanted to get Trevor. Hey, want to get our former first round draft pick? Um, there's some snaps at the end of the game or the game was going well, well enough where Gary Kubiak just absolutely scrapped it and said, Hey, the guy deserved to have more place because of the way that he played, and we never did get to see Paxton Lynch that year would Gary Kubiak So endeavor. I've seen it work that way. Where? Look, you just gotta go ahead and win the game. You don't get it. We had a chance to have an improved position in the NFL draft. If we would have lost that game to the Raiders, and we could have laid it down. The Broncos fought hard. They lost the game, but the effort was appreciated, right? Let me ask you this, Anthony, because when we Yes, we are seeing rapid port yesterday and his comment was and obviously look, he works for the NFL network. So he works for the Shield. And I do believe that there is a company line when you work for the league. He said. It was no different what the Philadelphia Eagles did then what the Kansas City Chiefs dead. That didn't want the Pittsburgh Steelers did. Then what? All these other teams did by sitting by sitting there, guys, but I and I totally I totally disagree with that. I disagree that. I mean, if you are a team that is still you have guys out there that are playing for For things that they may have in their contracts. I mean, we talked about a number of guys that actually hit those bonuses that they had in their contract because they had the opportunity to hit them in that last game of the season. Yeah, You're right. Uh, listen, I like rap, and they ain't just my shop. But that's a company. That's that's the company line, man. That's a huge difference. If if I'm secure as the one seed, I don't want anybody hurt, I mean, oh, that's obvious. Here. This fell shameful in All right. They bring it sudden felt. Well, maybe shut. So this sudden stinks. All right. He's got no future. He blows. Nature doesn't belong in the NFL, All right? And they realize that you're not stupid. But here's the deal. Jalen hurts might have to be your story quarterback because they've already crushed Carson Wentz. All right. This is the same guy who has made a mess off his quarterback situation. And now you've got a kid like hurts. What you want to see. We could do in the fourth quarter and became like that. And if he pulls it out, Yeah, it's just a shame that you go from 69. Yeah, this you probably won't get the player. It's like we're not gonna in this draft and you would get at night. However, does Jalen hurts? Feel that much better that what's more confident going into the offseason? I mean, that's real..

"Cheryl hanging out behind the hawk of this show is like a nineteen eighty four sitcom. It's like the fresh prince of bel air full house. I heard the full house and becky got out of got was a prison choosing prison prison. Yeah i heard she got out of prison. That was kind of cool. Yeah i not cool what she did but now i was there a party. It's amd becky man i mean. Nobody from full full house could be bad. Turns out they're all pretty. A lot of them. Are pretty pretty rough. How the hell did they fit in that tiny house. There had like twenty people in their family. It san francisco. And they're all squished together. They just they were just used to it. I think the big house. Okay as tall. Yeah it was tall like five storey house and they made like uncle. Joey live in the attic or something. Yeah uncle jesse got like his own room his own studio to record his band and uncle joey just in the attic with his puppets. What what does show man. What what did they think of next although they've thought of a lot since then oh my goodness What else okay. john. Elway this whole deal. I time to think about this thing. You remember my blog. This this this week is my deep thoughts from a wandering mind. What happened to kicking and screaming. What happened to that. Remember john elway two thousand fourteen. The broncos get there aren't kicked by the indianapolis colts twenty three to fourteen thirteen. Twenty four to thirteen th i reverse my number we do that. Just like with the broncos record we reverse numbers They lose elway's elway's pissed right. He saying we're gonna lose. We're going down kicking and screaming. Nobody looked happy in that game. Didn't look like we wanted to win that game. Then so what ultimately happened by by john fox. And then you bring in. He's still have managed to have this offense but you become this kind of tough nasty team you turn in. You know you really start to invest in the defense. You you hire gary kubiak you hire wade phillips and this team becomes nasty on defense. Perhaps the greatest defense of all time and didn't need to go down kicking and screaming because they won the superbowl that year. That many games where you wondered if they were going to win defense kept coming up with crazy turnovers. The whole brock osweiler thing. I mean it was a nutty nutty year..

"To get some fresh blood new eyes a GM to take over And for John Elway and his 10 years of the helm. Some really high highs and some pretty low lows. And some embarrassments but also some incredible successes. And that's why it will always be a pretty complicated legacy for John Elway in the front office. As GM. Over the Broncos. Here's your phone number, 855 to 1 to four. CBS. I get 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 or on Twitter, DEA on CBS morass. How would you qualify? John Elway's GM? Well, when I hear John Elway's G, and the first thing that comes to mind is Paxton Lynch or Joe Flacco. We thought he still had something left. And ultimately I think that's just because we are in a what have you done for me lately? And I think as you bring up The whole point of becoming a general manager on the football team is to bring a Super Bowl trophy home. And John Elway admits one of the craziest free agency wounds of all time gets Peyton Manning to come to Denver and Peyton Manning ultimately wins that Super Bowl gets them to two Super Bowls. And in the end John Elway has 10 years is the general manager, and they do have five division titles so In what has always been a very competitive division. If your GM tenure over 10 years has a 50% hit rate, although it was all early on division titles and you win a Super Bowl. Yes, well, it's a mixed bag. I think if you take a step away, wait a year, two years, three years to look back on Elway's a GM get over the fact that is a quarterback. He couldn't find the right quarterback to replace Peyton. He still got him there and Peyton Manning in Denver. I mean, that is a huge part of Bronco history. He won a Super Bowl, so I think In the end, it does have to be considered success. And you don't win a Super Bowl just by bringing and Peyton Manning got to do a lot of other things, so that also has to go on his resume. He ended up signing the smart defensive players to help transition the team into a defensive, steady team. Ended up firing John Fox when it probably wasn't the easiest thing to do. They've got to the post season of the Super Bowl with him. He helps bring in Gary Kubiak, who seems to have that perfect touch with that 2015 team. So we did it. He did it and the Paxton Lynch thing and the Joe Flacco thing and all of the quarterback things that Trevor Simeon thing the broadcast Wyler thing. That's part of it, too interesting legacy for John Elway in Denver. He steps aside and we'll see who the Broncos end up bringing in. They've got an interesting ownership situation that might scare away some G M's. They've gone through this bizarre bull and family power struggle over their ownership. And so can they land the best GM knowing that that whole things hanging over them, and perhaps they'll have to sell. The team will see an interesting off season for the Broncos. No doubt when we come back here on the show your best audio of the day. In the NFL. Justin Herbert reacts the firing of his head coach. The Jaguars owner discusses firing Doug Marone. And Howie Roseman discusses what's going on with Carson, Wentz and Philly..

"Very regularly and one of the things I really like about your show is your bumper music. I think you have a fantastically curated selection of bumper music. And I know a lot of that comes from stuff that you grew up listening to the O s O. I try when you come on. I've always tried to find some bumper music that fits. The theme of what you use on your show? Because I was I like our guests to be happy. And what was that song she played? I don't know. I forgot. I forgot the name That was just random bumper. Everything. Yeah. John wanted me to call you, Andy. All segment to bug you and Now I'm going to do it because you only know what the theme song Wasit was. A song called Banquet was just one of our normal rotating bumpers that pops and usually I schedule like specific one for your segment. I neglected to do that this time, But you always give Sam the credit which I'm more than happy to let her have because being great being a cute young blonde. She doesn't get enough attention and no life. Why would you believe Drew over me? Well, what first hey, just called cute. Publicly. Okay, adorable If I do that, I'm down the hall in HR For like, 30 minutes. Wedding my 20th season calling Vikings football. I'm just playing now. Mondays Mondays. I'm here whenever you need me, But I understand Vikings. Football is a little more polarizing than some of the other sports not only in this region but period. Professionally speaking, however, do remember and I would never lay out bits for a Highly successful widely touted show like yours. But remember Minnesota Wild training camp begins today at 11 40 on my radio show is Zach Parisi number 11 favorite player and your show is his favorite show on all of radio. And I've known Zach a decade and a half, so it ain't mine. It's yours s O Just remember. We have Zach on is what you're saying. So why don't know? Yeah. I mean, that would really go over super well for Zach jumping on the radio saying Who out there showers with masks. I want to talk to you. That'd be great. You know, just like cousin speaking. Her cousin speaking from the heart when he said You may not understand what I'm saying. But I don't care if I get go of it. And And if I die? What Kirk man straight from the Gospel was If he dies, he's going to heaven. That's what that's what he met. He's comfortable it right. And but a lot of people weren't and I understood. You know some some standpoints, but man That that Parisi wild thing for you guys. What if they're really good? And like Parisi is and every Monday guest for you, you sell it. You call Sam? Cute ballots in the river. I mean, that sounds like an unbelievable 2021 win. I want to call a nautical. I think I'm using this term correctly. Okay? Since he since he invoked the name of God, I wanted to share. This is an audio clip that we played last hour. Paul Owen. So this was the start of the 117th congress. Right? There was a representative Missouri pastor and representative and this is how it This is how he opened Congress ready. We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God. Uh huh. And God, known by many names, but many different faiths. Hey, man. That a woman? What? What? What? What a man and a woman, he concluded, was by saying Amen. Oh, but then he threw in a woman. It would be man. That a woman has got to be inclusive. Right? Amen. My friend. I mean, so he's a pastor and a politician represented. Added Representative Yeah, Any woman. A man and a woman are all that man. That sounds that is definitely taking on a lot. Right. There we are. We finished seven and 9 30 minutes. The Minnesota Vikings offense, Woz. Let's see. I've called games for them for 19 years. 2004 Dante Culpepper almost won m v P with 39 TDs. Randy Moss was on that team. They beat Green Bay in the playoffs. 2009 best offense I've ever been associated with calling Vikings games. Brett Far. Percy Harvin, Adrian Sidney Rice defense was good, and we've had some, like 2017 the miracle year we had a good offense, but it was orchestrated by a backup in case Keenum. Lost. Alvin Cook is rookie year in the fourth game. So the work then offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur did with that offense to get to the NFC title game was fantastic, but that offense is not as good as what I witnessed this season. And you know, we we've we've specifically Andrew and I, we We've gone back and forth about Zimmer and the defense and expectations and some very good conversations in my opinion. The Minnesota Vikings offense this year came through pretty much every step of the way. So with the coordinator Gary Kubiak on my radio show today at 11 30 by the way, and I just taped it with him. It's about a 15 minute chat. And when you get a four time Super Bowl champion has been to seven to open veins about things he likes and things that bug him and he's done it 30 years and looking at players and how they handled themselves today compared to the past. That it was very eye opening or ears opening to me, because it's radio and with Gary Man, I mean cousins through the second most touchdown passes in history of the team. Justin Jefferson is nose the nose with Justin Herbert for the Chargers to be Rookie of the year. Dalvin Cook at nearly 2000 scrimmage yards, thean interior of your offensive line..
