"Boomer good morning our yep. Good morning man and i gotta tell you last night. I sometimes i think gary cohen she just managed team and they should have an earpiece in the manager. Who is managing. The mets have just listened to the booth and listen to what they say. And we're all sitting there all saying the same thing why is edwin d as pitch into this guy. Yeah and the best on the marlins. The guy has been red hot. And you're sitting there going. You're listening to the booth and you what what would you what they're saying. And what is happening is just mind boggling. Now and tara was unbelievable last night that was one of the best pitching performances that we've seen all year long. We're the best he's ever seen in his life right. yeah so what. I'm saying i and i appreciate it. Was a national league type. Game low scoring the mets really had a hell of a time trying to catch up with this kid and i understand that those games those types of games are going to happen but when your manager has a decision to make and it's so obvious everyone and he makes the wrong decision and you're closer comes in and loses the game when he really shouldn't have been pitching that guy anyway is mind boggling and that's the thing i'm not saying the mets should when the game i mean of course i want them to win the game and of course you know. I'm second guessing. We all are this morning. But this was the first guest from the booth from ronnie keith. And gary and they were all over this all over it and so i'm not sitting here this morning saying that you know this is the second guess from the booth. Because to boot was right they were totally right. Why are you pitching to him. And you know that's that's a decision get unfortunately ends up getting managers fired. Well yeah he's going. And this is why i said what i said. I can't even muster up enough passion about a mets loss. This morning to even act like i care because i can't stand this team and i'm now rooting against them. So oh you can't be. Oh of course i am. I'm absolutely. I was laughing my ass off last night when every day is playing up to the sky. I hate these guys. I can't stand him. And i want them to blow up this this roster. But you know what's going to happen now. Conforto getting hot so now you're going to bring him back. And then you're going to be saddled with another horrendous contract for the next ten years. I just pointing up to the sky again when a ball is like six inches from going out of the park and puts a dent in. The wall is hilarious to me and i wanted it to happen. I want him to blow the game. I wanted them to lose the game. They did and that made me happier than them. Winning the game. Because they're not going anywhere and i'm just tired of it. I just wanted to be over sooner than later. So we can stop talking about these member that time when i had lost my mind about the knicks because it was like the same stuff over and over again. There's there's just these bombs that we just kept talking about and talking about. I've had my fill now. I've had my fill of the luiz row haas bad decisions. I've had my fill of edwin..

"Down the line That ball is out of here. That boat, just state Fair down the line and Pete Alonso. It's his seventh home run of the air and the Mets now lead it. 4 to 2. That's Gary Cohen not entirely convinced on s and wise. It was right down the line. Then he's watching on the monitor. Michael Conforto also homered. He led the way for too far for for five. Rather double home run. Five R B eyes. As the Mets go onto win in Baltimore by a final score off note was didn't write here. 99 245 appreciate sucks when you do that, doesn't it Before I was 9 40. I think it was like the fourth time by the way in The history of Camden Yards, where a ball had reached that deck. Gary Cohen said in there. I mean, Cam Yard's been around for a long time now. But, yeah, I mean, that was a frickin bomb. It's just a sport to Yeah, I know. And everyone, So maybe this is the thing that gets, um, going home runs in one game last week. I mean, I mean, who the hell knows right where I was going to say? I don't know if that's gonna happen or not. Bobby. It's a shame that Gary Cohen couldn't really give that call the justice it deserved. Because of all the circumstances because I was a mammoth home run. You couldn't meet on the live show You couldn't even see where forget if it was fair foul. I don't I didn't even see the ball land. So you find out after the fact I guess, maybe on a bigger screen where I watched it this morning. I couldn't even see I was just waiting for them to say whether it was They're foul home Run or not, but certainly a bomb part of the Mets, snapping their five game skid. You did a Todd Frazier return. Of course, they've put him right into the lineup hits cleanup yesterday over five and his return to the team, but the Mets get the when they come back home down to host the Yankees later on today, all that build up to the Yanks raise regular season finale following Tuesday night's drama, And as it turns out, Michael brought so about the only one who really came to play. "In the fan, I am Susan Waldman appear in Westchester and down in Florida is my partner for the day, Howie Rose. And we will talk to you a lot of calls lined up 877 1st before the girls. Absolutely. That's what I ask you something, But let me ask you your opinion about something I'm thinking of doing on our show next week because we were talking about Mickey Mantle with Roy White and Sweeny. Murti was kind enough. And for those who don't know I did a regular talk show on this radio station. For seven or eight years, whatever it was beginning in 1987 with stations inception, which we'll celebrate next week, But anyway long story short. One of my favorite shows that I did back in those days was a tribute to the 1961 Yankees on that teams 30th anniversary. So obviously that was in 1991 and one of the guests that I had on that night. And I think Sweeney might have been the producer. I'm not even sure but Mickey Mantle, and you know, Mickey Mantle for my generation was and still is larger than life. It was about a 14 minute interview. I'd love to replay. I hadn't heard it And you know, however long it's been I would love to replay that next week when we do our, you know, recollections of this radio station. Would you mind that? Oh, no. I would love that. I would love that. You know, we all have things like that knights. I believe, because I did not know Mickey Mantle really until till this radio station because we would do shows from Mantle's restaurant, and he was always there and the morning show we did there and we did a lot of night show Sweeney actually. Sweetie was one of the great producers of all time before he you know, we're on the great producer and he sent me. I evidently did an interview with Don Mattingly the day he announced his retirement. That he said to me in my room, and I haven't listened to it yet because it makes my heart break every time. I think of Mattingly retired still does after all these years? Oh, no, I would. I would love that. And he sent me one too. So interesting. The things that you keep because I had kept an interview that I did. When the station went on the air. I went down to winter Haven and I got a guy I'd known for for since I was a tiny little girl. I got Ted Williams for an hour. Not going to play Ted Williams, but on DH, the people you remember, but I would love to hear that Mickey Mantle thing, of course. Of course. Hopefully we'll do that next week. You get my Mattingly thing? I mean, it was. Yeah, some of those you keep, but Swinney had the money. Sweeney was the best producer during a world Siri's. I could hardly talk. Sweeney called up Johnny Johnny Podres on the air. I couldn't talk Then we have. This was a great You know, it was a great producer Billy Rodman. Yeah, Bill Rodman was one of my producers in the early nineties, I guess And we were doing world Siri's pre and post game shows. And one of those that he lined up was most scouring Bill most scouring and I just happened to wander. This is classic. I happened to just wander into the control room during a break before the interview when Billy was calling, scouring this house. Well, evidently Scarrans wife answers the phone. And Rodman actually says to this woman who is probably in her sixties or seventies or not, Maura at the time. Hello. May I Please speak to Moose? Anyway. What is this River deal? Who's next? Jughead? You know, May I Please speak tomorrow? I thought that was a little unusual. Yeah, There's so many things I was thinking because program director Mark Chernoff was talking about next week. It's a anniversary. July 1st is we all know Three o'clock July 1st the afternoon My voice came on and the station started. And I think we're going to have people that were did things on f A A. And that were announcers. Do you know who was on the air when I was in that earthquake? Oh, wow. So that's 1989. Who would have been on the air when one way and announce playing the game that night, Uh, announcer on FAA and Gary Thorne. No way. Thorne was with ABC, then, right? Go from. So when you say on the air who you were talking about on the FAA ends on wf fan. I believe I was talking to Gary Cohen. On the air. Okay when the earthquake happened, and I believe that's who it was, because I was on forever. When because I miss used to play that I've never been so scared in my whole life, and I get babbling. To say what was was going on? Because my phone didn't go out? No. Well, yeah. Major earthquake. Yeah, I described you. Well, You never know what you're going to Dio, but I believe it was Gary Cohen, who was who I was talking to. Ridge just finished his first year with him. It's Yeah, it's Yeah, it was something. It was a long time ago, wasn't it? Yeah, absolutely. We already take some calls. Yeah, we love hanging on there. Alright. 877337 66 66 Patent Belle Rose. You're next up on the fan. Hi, Pat. Hi. How? Why? Why did great interview with Roy? Wait that well, That was fun Way. I have a question, but with baseball, Obviously, there's no minor league baseball. And then you made the point early about people get mended. There's a bunch of creating it makes with the Mets Yankees liken Addison Russell or Jeanette or some of the pages. That is so out there that haven't stashed somewhere, you know, just cover themselves or injuries..

S. company of course you want to open up that market to the U. S. companies to want to make sure that we have a level playing field for US companies can access the Chinese market just as the Chinese of axis for U. S. market around the world given they have little visibility are not investing in their markets and it could be a friend chief executive it could be a chief executive in Ohio transaction German that that must be a negative negative negative so we can cause a bunch and that is going on on the investment side and I'll be the first to tell you when you're looking at and you're looking at in the U. S. when you look at topix the first thing you're looking at is building factories building buildings nearby steel they were the first two things I thought that that was not the right decision I would never import products it's different terrifying services then is the terrible import products that go into something you're going to build a great job so the going state takes away the competitive advantage that we gave them in the lower corporate taxes remember we lowered taxes to compete with the rest of the world we lowered into their rates but then we made the Costa still women higher than just incentivize people from opening plants nearby states then layer on top of that the geo political situation we have in the United States right now and it's a very tough environment to take eighty eight you can think of the season to do a major capital expenditure in the United States because you know what the political environment will look like in United States we got a lot of candidates going up the corporations corporate earnings what's the cost of healthcare gonna be what's it going to cost you run your business the United States you're better off as a corporation day to wait for some more clarity before you make in the capital so so what November ninth twenty twenty money exactly is going to come I don't know for sure what date is or when it is clearly if you need to invest the capital right now to grow your business your doing that companies are spending money capital but if you're going to build a big what we would call bricks and mortar or stealing aluminum copper facility and you're gonna hire a lot of people to do that you probably will wait till you get some clarity to what is going to cost you as as as terms of labor and what it cost you to run that facility vis a vis hoping that facility in Mexico or Canada so what the federal reserve kind of getting attacked by the president they have a county that seems to be holding up but I guess it could turn the president is an independent agency in the United States and I think protecting the independence of the federal reserve is of utmost importance I think John Paul in the other governors and vice chairman of bad very good job of trying to walk the line of independence they are making their policy decisions based on the data that they are seeing they're always trying to figure out what is going on in the economy in the future which is a very difficult thing especially a globalized world today on the other other voting members have been making the right decisions based on the data they have at their fingertips at the time they make the decision is that central banker to the world and not just to the the America that is the central the dollar is a key trade currency in the world global commodities are denominated in dollars a lot of so in essence what does does have an impact on the rest is is that far behind your your golden sayings the markets and I think the I think the dollar is going to continue to remain on the relatively strong people talk about interest rates in the United States relative to the rest of the world we got high interest rates and people continue to migrate to a higher interest rate currency the dollar is a high yielding currencies I know we're gonna take a break and talk about quick don't things are focusing on okay are we going to see executives big financial institution twenty twenty I don't think so I I'm just not sure that's Gerry comes next next okay what are you doing at the moment right now besides speaking and writing and teaching which occupies a little bit of my time as many enormous amount of time in the venture capital in the world in two areas in medical technology and really in the secure communication secure data space the secure communications does take you know the payments space because it you can secure communication you can ask actually end up on the payments and that's a really interesting place to be in right right face it really shortly again come their former director of the national economic council coming up

They had so many chances. They could've won the game. The wind up losing twelve nine a lot of issues here with the pitching Zack. Wheeler was terrible seven runs. Here was Mickey Callaway are you worried about Wheeler through these first couple of starts not concerned at this point. I think that he'll go and correct. It in between starts here was Wheeler. Ask him about the one Soto at bat to begin the second idea. I know I will go back and check I do not know the answer to that. Right. And now, you know, why you don't want Jeff MacMillan the outfield too, by the way. Put Daniel Murphy out there against the Marlins. Where's the ball go right to write to Daniel Murphy? I think he's a net negative. Maybe that day was Mets off tonight. They take on the twins tomorrow. Elsewhere in baseball, Cody Bellinger, it's another home run. He's got seven dodgers beat the Rockies twelve six Red Sox shutout the Diamondbacks won nothing to go three and eight on that eleven game season-opening road trip Phillies twins yesterday and one big swing in about three to swing and a high fly left field fairly deep.

"Hell, the merger of Time Warner an AT and T the New Yorker reported that President Trump had tried to block the merger in two thousand seventeen by personally asking his then chief economic advisor, Gary Cohn to make sure the Justice department intervened here to tell us more is Joe Nocera, a Bloomberg opinion columnist so tell us about this reported incident where President Trump talks to. Former economic adviser Gary Cohen, right? So he calls in Gary Cohen, according to the story in the New Yorker, and John Kelly who was then the staff is also in the room, and he starts to berate ame- says, you know, I I don't know how many times I told you to call the Justice department and get them to block that deal. I wanted block nothing happening. You know? And then as they're leaving out of earshot Cohen says in to your language, and this don't you dare call the department because we're not going to operate that way. So the application is that Colin they not have called. But that doesn't mean somebody else didn't or that Trump didn't get the message to the Justice department in some other way. But didn't Trump already send that message during the campaign? Well, he sure did. I mean, he made it very clear that he thought the deal should be blocked. The problem is that the department was chugging along very nicely before he was elected on on route to approving the deal was pretty much a almost a done deal. So then, you know, he gets his deputy White House counsel making him is appointed or nominated to be his his antitrust head and and the Justice department. So I mean, it's pretty obvious. Darah knows exactly what Trump wants from the AT and T deal. He has said over and over and over again that they were no politics involved. And that they they reviewed the deal, and they wound up thinking that you know, it was a little too monopolistic. And basically it had to be stopped. But but honestly, nobody really believes him. And nobody really believes that this was this was on the up and up because I even Derek himself prior to joining the Trump administration had said that he didn't see anything wrong with the deal. Well, explain how this was this was a vertical merger and usually vertical. Mergers are in opposed by the Justice department is. That's right. They haven't been opposed in forty two vertical merger is a burger to companies that don't really have overlapping businesses. Horizontal merger is a merger in which you know, company that can in one business buys another company in the same business, and those get it not blocked, at least at least the government tries to force them to divest some assets, and so on and so forth, but vertical murder really haven't been touching forty years. So that's another reason. This was such a surprise that the Justice department decided to try and block it so you have a president who's run on stopping this merger. And you have the head of the antitrust division who's trying to enforce what he's run on. Is there anything really is there? Anything wrong with that? Yes. There is what's wrong with it? President really aren't supposed to hell agencies. You know to do their bidding an agency is supposed to operate based on the rule of law. Now the rule of walking change over time. There's there's no question antitrust law and rules have changed over time. That's that's fine. But it's not supposed to happen is that the president is not supposed to use an agency as a weapon to punish his enemies and to help it spreads. And yet we've seen more than one in the anti-us department examples where that that seems to be the result not only with, but with Disney FOX with Trump applauded when the deal was was announced said, it would create jobs, which of course, it won't. And then that deal, absolutely flies through within six months. Even though. The combination will mean that fifty percent of movie tickets are being sold by one company is that a horizontal deal that is very much a horizontal. That they would normally oppose that that's right or at least try to get them to divest overlapping portion. Yes. Also, I mean, we heard President Trump just last weekend deride Jeff Sessions because he recused himself. Do you think he has learned after two years that gives a line between the executives office and the agencies the app Neptune? I do not think that he has learned any such thing. This is a guy who really doesn't care about the rule of law. He really doesn't care about what's proper and what's not proper. He viewed everything about government through the prism of. Will it help him or will not help him? And that goes for financially that goes for rewarding Frank and punishing enemies. That goes for trying to block an investigation into potential Russian collusion, and it also goes for merger, which is big business. So, you know, I think he will never learn, and it's a sad fact about the state of American.
