"But now Lasix blinkers on and I think facing lesser going into the Louisiana bread competition. The race at del mar ended up being pretty good. The horse that finished second in that race came back and won a race at Los alamitos by ten lengths, posted pretty good speed figures. Bron and brow at 5 to one, a good number for me a good value for me in a race that I think is wide open. I agree with you. Everything you said, I like number 5 brawn and brow as well. I don't think we're going to get 5 to one on this source. You know, we were wondering a few weeks ago when the announcement came out from Peter Miller, that he was going to be stepping away from training at the end of November. What was going to happen with his horses? He's had a long time assistant. That a lot of his own owners know and certainly could be keeping the horses with him. But it's certainly looks like at least some of the owners and Gary barber owns this one. Have decided to go elsewhere and Gary barber goes from one trainer that he's had a lot of horses with and Peter Miller to another trainer that he currently has a lot of horses with in Mark Cassie Braun and brow. He actually trained at delmar once after he ran, and then was shipped over to the fairground. So you kind of think that the timing of that announcement from Peter Miller kind of clicked it into Gary barber's mind to maybe take horses away and move them to other parts of the country. So Bron and brow, trying this race, you mentioned it. I think that open maiden special weight race at del mar is tougher than this restricted stake at fairgrounds. We're going to find out, but bronn and Brown has every right to improve second start of his career, and he worked well at the fairgrounds or he worked fast, I should say the one time he's in a fat, the fastest of 90 going four furlongs on December 4th. I also like bran and brow 5 to one race 9 tomorrow at fair grounds the Louisiana champions day juvenile stakes at 6 furlongs. We're going to take our final break when we come back. We've got three more races to look at and that big fairgrounds card. You're listening to the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra betts on the horse racing radio network..

"Locally owned the the other flying p the beats lone rock in the grand prix in the marathon. yeah but There's there's quite a bit here yesterday. i. I don't know why spanish love affair. How did spanish love affair. Go off as the longest shot on the board in that pebbles yesterday. That was the crazy i again. I met the game so we were i. Think at that point. We walk into the car So it wasn't you know. I'm not paying attention at that point later and then i pulled it up like how did how did she go off at thirty two one. It's crazy. That was a well-matched field and she ronald them. The caricom tie care khantai winter. Spanish love affair. And that's that's a nice win. Because she'd been queued she'd been out of a great at stake right And so that's a that's a nice win. it's not great at stake. But it's a nice steak win For the clips. And gary barber and who else is in that group Part of you know a lot of things to to absorb Then there's the saturday night action where hidden connection was really star. I you know she dares the devil ya won the locust grove but you know just just able to withstand crystal ball. I tried thought. I had a clever angle And i had left some money on the table saturday night. I'll tell you what I was not had everything. But i i didn't have it structured. Just really annoying. I i lean very heavily on stellar on stellar tap and that That was too bad so It was hidden connection that. In retrospect than the two year old races that that could have been heavily leaned on but she she just destroyed that pocahontas and in fact Bret calhoun is gonna join us momentarily. Started a set the set the stage and major general comes out of Saratoga wins that iroquois and -sconsin with the mild upset mild upset the she and and bells. The one where you know they they were. They were pretty interchangeable in there and -sconsin comes away and michelle level. She wins that thoroughbred society sprint. With raffi they arana castellano on board major general. They'd like to see kind of catch a little bit of a wave again and get himself going. I know it's been a little bit of a frustrating year When he's trying to get some mojo going so let's nice win that's a nice horse to latch onto For for heavier.

"Been recorded. You can be my dixie chicken. i'll be your tennessee. Lamb and That's the saturday action. We come back on sunday and Was actually an interesting maiden group. It looks like there might be Josie got taylor mineshaft I wanna point out in that fourth race ron. I don't know how much work you've done on the On the sunday card but josie is also got hertrich fielding The lemon drop kid. Desert eagle for The earl of mac and I thought this race had Kind of an important look as a midseason three-year-old opportunity. Yeah i picked tale mine shop You know she was third first time out to going seven. And now she's stretching those sixteen and of course she you know she had to run long sort of top and bottom so She could actually Here in here. She could run back in the oakland three weeks ago. That's a pretty important race for the lukewarm paper. In the race. I would think yeah turn to the stakes and the marine for three year olds and Here we we've got. The number is even though it's a small field is quite a few horses. That people are going to be familiar with because of their winter seasons and and also some connection type stories including frosted over The impressive maiden winner last out but of course that we got familiar with During the winter. This is gary barber and watts humphrey Bread frosted colt There's also easy time for cassie for breeze. Easy that we saw at Down at gulfstream Over the winter. And i got a mentioned haddassah For kevin hr and our friends. The old wellings The home-bred air force blue gelding out of lady. Dasa and Coming out of a pretty good seasonal effort actually off the long layoff third in that allowance facing elders. Now back against three year olds only in the marine. Yeah that that was a really tough allowance. i mean town crews came back to win two other than The split of the aforementioned race we talked about on the turf and The english conquer the runner up came back to be third and ballot checks allowance. Win so adopts you know. Look like he was supposed to win that race but that race was really fast and difficult. And i think it sets up nice for this and you i. I watched them. Work Three-quarters twelve and changed the other day by himself. I think he's sitting a really big race and kevin tarte stirred meet off slow but he won two races yesterday. I two for the wellings so I think dasa. I is live in here and yet it's not an easy spy like like you mentioned the to cassie runners and the marks really high on easy time i mean he. He loved his work the other day. Here in mid one on on topeka He felt the torch should have won his last race. At gulfstream in february on the terp he had a troubled trip and He's really loved the way the courses come back this not this time called and like you say processed over a perfect trip when he broke his maiden going seven on the topeka off a layoff on the twentieth so You know both of these horses are bred to run run along on the topeka so And the title forces He's a he's a sampson ontario. Bread unbeaten in two starts. He's prepping for the queen's plate. I mean you know the horses who run well. The interior brits who run well in this race will probably run back in play trial and three weeks and then the plate is three weeks after that on august. Twenty seconds so i think title forces is a pretty serious For south is Allowance win over. St three year olds on topeka. A couple of weeks ago on anyone is only other. Start breaking his maiden that Costume on the grass for gail cox so with Leaving writer emma wilson award so Yeah it's a small field Candy overload is a cross entered in both stakes but He might end up in the the queen's going short annex grinding interesting horse to steve. I mean kevin. Atari teenage son owns the course and saw the train. He doesn't are so His his comeback was pretty good. I mean he's he's not out of the realm of possibility with justin stein writing off third allowance race. Nice a six pack with Virtually everybody you know. Having having a shot. That's the marine goes at four twenty four on sunday and leads in to the Quinson and this is restricted. And there's actually a number of horses in here that people are are also going to be familiar with starting with gretzky the great Who gets back to woodbine. and of course Kind of started his career as as a sprinter and has stretched out gets back to A sprint configuration You got the presence of Master spy in here. The tracy farmer and just not named power alone and and also as i mentioned fairly frequently my friendship with john fielding which goes back to the nineties in my other life del griffith At of course the john candy for tag inist in planes trains and automobiles Just a tremendous candy ride out a terror court but You know nick. Alexander names They've horses in california. After you know baseball players and historic figures del griffith a wonderful name by fielding hertrich. Yeah surprising supplement to the race He's twenty one on the line off of a slow maiden first win that gulfstream. But you know the kim ham when he ships here i mean he's he's won a lot of stakes here shipping in from press. Kyle so This one's a bit of a reach but i respect the trainer a lot Gretzky degree now he. He's to on the line. He was champion. Two year olds in canada last year. His to peter races You know early in the back in the winter where you know so so at at At turfing now no one. I talked to mark a week ago. He said this horse has been dealing with a quarter crack so he said to me if he works good on the weekend if he works okay. I'm gonna run back in the quinson. He worked five.

"The the juvenile. Filly as well with the quist where I think it's adam and yeah so it folded in those fold in those two partner horses. And there's another fourth grade once so gary barber standing alone or with his partners twelve graded snake winters. Sixth grade ones agreed to and five threes for over three point six million in earnings. So i gary barber this is the opportunity to recognize. And you have to do this. I mean when when the occasion arises that an individual owner you know his got the credentials it's important to show appreciation for their contribution the industry and It's gary barbara's year period. And i i i know i took there was a good three years of windmill. Tilting regarding clarkson before Before bricks and mortar seemingly made it that much easier for people to recognize south. But you know the the gary barber's and the and the charlotte weber's I mean they the engine on the train and when you have this chance. I mean some other names by the way that had Obviously we talked about costa ronan and Peter brant is is one of these years soon is is going to absolutely win one. Bob loath and back had a big year. The why costs three diamonds. Mike makers should be a finalist for trainer this year. So i'm just waiting into this Working on this this week and I quite happy to take on these. These kinds of causes because It's important. I know they're you know it's just a trophy that's going sit on a mantle but it then you know these these individuals there. They get tremendous enjoyment out of participating in the sport. And you know the reward on on the racetrack is is the most satisfying part of it for them. These people are heavily invested in the stock market. The stock market's been up. They've got the money to spend and domestically they did International buyer they certainly came in and and fill the void aside from what you know what transpired from the racetrack into sunday. And now you know. Two days into the sale said including mama girls win and then subsequent purchase got stormy being offered by gary barber and and she's also going to come back and campaign vir- i meant threat before she starts her career. The other story of course became authentic. And the the heavyweight lineup that we had going into the classic and i i'm very curious Your thoughts on the race itself and then we can you know we can then more fit into a discussion of the the the growing tally of of stallions. That are going to start service. "Done. And of course mr. Barbara's had a couple of champions. I believe but The you know he's a he's a great guy the barbara and i've actually. I met about two minutes before the race. I met him for the first time to be delivered as guys. Yeah we've run. I think but we made three starts when that to grade one wins in a great and the great one second. That's not a bad way to start out a relationship. Believe no and as it happens when when when this occurred It in no gary barber and I made the comment that i thought it was really outstanding. That that you're going to get the chance to to go on with the with the horse and because invariably you know when when there's these kinds of buy ins you're just better serve. Look at look at look at ron mcqueen and and bob la pinta and what transpired with you. Know with with With whitmore and there's a big part really butch of these stories That there's so many horsemen out there. That are that are capable of having this kind of success. They only need to get their hands on a horse with the talent. And that's hardest part and you know it. It does seem that it. Will we understand people coming into the game and gravitating toward the big names and the big barns but there's there's just countless horsemen across the country across north america across the world that We'll have this kind of success given a chance horse. That's got the talent you know. The horse makes the trainer than the other way around i. I'm definitely convinced that now. There's a lot of very capable trainers out there. Just haven't really got the opportunity to get her hands on a horse like this or you know. Good quality horses. There's a lot of people can get the job done so you know. Get the opportunity after all these years. really great and have that for my family because it was great to see you know of course judy. She was running the show by by my daughter. Whitney was also down there and my brother. Brian's red nice little entourage everybody got witnesses. You know up close and after you know my daughter been dragging around with us for you know thirty years now. So they're hurting lives Was really meant a lot to me that that was one of the high. I wanna high parts of the whole thing and now there's you know there's a whole the whole three year old campaign to You know to anticipate You know and and you've had you've had the occasional horse not so much. I'm thinking like a poseidon warrior or or A fleet Not thank you. I wanted to get alex in there somehow but having a two year old at this point and also maximus mischief. We felt a little of the other with a with the maximum is of course you know. He would look like a top prospect looking forward to a big big three year old year. And then we're done we're and Unfortunately got injured but You know to come back just a year or two later and that get another opportunity at the at the at the spotlight is Really a rare occurrence so.

"He lit up the board first time out hundred and thirty eight dollars. thrust some highly touted horses in that race, which is why he was such a big price and then of course you know we had to come back as long as he was doing good which he was the obvious choice was to come back into the paternity in. His Class And he passes Talk. Talk about the trip a little bit I know that there's a lot of people licking their wounds saying Oh you know we have gotten through and this and that but the that's not the way you know that they don't take the picture of the Horse that had the battery. That happens everybody's happened to me as well. You know I'm coming in my life as well. So That stuff happens We would just happen to have a very good trip. Yesterday done is writing better than ever and as good as anyone and He saved ground as much as he could. He sat on the Horse Looking for a way to get through then pulled him out and and then after that he wore those horses down and I like the way he finished. Agreed and and he was you know he's still running at the end I mean the best part of his performance came you know in the late stages which you know which bodes well and You know this is a fun story. I can tell you who else was excited by this performance was. Was Gary Barber who who has the majority interest in Jack Milton. They go and Jeff Milton was a good horses own right I think his biggest whims, the maker's Mark Mile. So you'd think.

"Want he got away a little flat footed and I'd probably didn't having these geared up as we could for the race And he got away a little flat footed when he did that it kind of hurt. Tyler's position position all the way around and then there was not a whole lot of pace so It was it was quite a performance for him to be able to win. And then I don't know if you saw after the race he just took off and galloped out he's a he's a nice horse but the pace was kinda crazy ended up hurting perlas. Honor my other one of my other orces and But yeah we're quite proud of arch the arch be You know it could be some could be a big year for him no doubt and same kind of the kind of predictable schedule for him. You know I got A. I'm I'm not exactly sure any we always kind of look at Keeneland I wanna be ready for canine and Churchill and and then and you know that entire when we get on the triple crown trail. There's a lot of great races for older horses on the term. So we're Kinda probably that way and it goes from there. I haven't really thought of. I started kind of going over trying to decide which direction I wanted to go with possibly sublimely possibly California for the Trying to think the mile race out there but uh-huh I'm thinking I might want to stretch him out a little far. I think if you time is Ride a little better time it. Well he can run a little farther so we we may go a little farther with him. Well March to the arch marches forward and plenty of other Live oak horses to talk about but let's shift to the other successful major owner and Finalist for eclipse this This week Thursday and the Gulfstream on Thursday night and Gary Barber and of course got stormy in in probably the most potentially the most competitive category when they've revealed the voting When it comes to Philly Merrick turf champion but it was to sixty who has been a kind of a favorite young Philly for the house? Wins the Gasparilla and maybe maybe she just wants to stay. Stay around one turn. And then if people didn't notice yesterday a Gulfstream Declaration Warrior who is a half to via the Jio out of Ho- Buzzard a nice win nice maiden win in what I think the Second Career Start and so Gary Barber in gets into into the picture over the weekend well. "Here for Peter? Miller did not participate. But you've got five here four in the boys race. I don't I don't see how you quibble with the quality of the horses that assembled and then there's New York where they obviously are worried about getting the grass races in the winter memories. They'll try again in and got a nice. You know most of back for that. That's early on the card. Both of the turf races are really on the card. The autumn days the turf sprint that goes is is the fourth and then you can start to get excited about the stakes sequence the gopher one which was it seemingly struggling for participants Peter Miller coming in with spice perfection. And then you had mike stem yesterday. Tell you that Cigar Arroyo is showing coming up and Jerry. Maguire has got need supervision. "Slash equine. Now back to at the races with Steve BIC on Sirius XM radio. Tween? Bang. I can fix. We're back in the races. Hard. Not to start the reviewing and the trainer conversations hard not start with the Gary barber story from the weekend. And and actually I I didn't mention the third of the Gary barber winners from the weekend solid wager who said three weeks ago to Chris Engelhardt and Engelhardt gets his first grade stake win, which is really I I was a little surprised, but I said to myself let me see if he's won a great state before. Sure enough. It was Chris's I in his long great career over four thousand winds and angle does eight tremendous job course, we talked to my last week. But what a nice story that is trum betta and Trump better Cassie and Trump better and Cassie combined for Mrs Weber, and then Cassie and Engelhardt for Gary barber, and and Jerry O'Donnell o'dwyer's. Well with the Phillies win at fair. Grounds Marcus joins us and marks off to really nice start for twenty..

"So you strating hand goal stream a couple of decent prices that were lurking just of the pace took the lead at the top of the stretch. And gave me, you know, real encouragement that I thought oh here we go. And then they were swallowed up. Teens. I mean, and you're just going, oh, really, and that would have made such a huge difference. But you know, and I ROY h was one of my picks. And people say why would you pick him? Well, I hadn't picked because if by chance I was getting shut out I figured at least ROY h would probably bail me out from getting shut out. So that was that was my thinking, they're so I'd like to have a few chalk horses, and through and, you know, sprinkle in some nice, prices and hope to hit one of them. And this time I just didn't really hit one of those prices that goal stream. But but it's a heck of a contest, I've always enjoyed it. And Johnny deserves tremendous credit because this was his brainchild and look at how long this beat the host contest has been going. It's been going along time. Well, John good job. And we will look forward to next week recap the weekend, including Pegasus and more. And we'll start to catch up on the the three year olds. Well, John White everybody and post time John on Twitter. We're gonna stay right here and just the lighted. I've had I've had Chris angle Arnon before. But the opportunity to congratulate him on his first grade at stake when is really special and solid. Wager is going to be a a force to be reckoned with a west coast sprinter, Gary barber with huge day three wins that he was involved in between fairgrounds and Akwa docked and the bargain goes to solid wager. Chris, congratulations. Thank you very much. How how special is it after after four thousand winds to get that degraded steak with well, it was it was very special my son, Jeremiah, of course, she's pointing at a different level than I am doing extremely well. You know, I kid with him once in a while when after he wanna Breeders Cup racy kid with me and say how many graded races? If you won dad just kidding around. You know, but at least I can say I wanna great great three. And I got to give a lot of the credit to his trainer out in out in California for, you know, send send me the horse in such good, shape and everything and it worked out talk about Peter Miller and guarantor Miller. Yeah. Yeah. The timing was perfect because as it happened to me Peter Peter's flush with with sprinters, obviously back in California. So this is a this was a clever move. Turns out like I said, I couldn't understand when when when he wanted to send the horse with MBNA Telefoni bread. But that's why I leave decisions like this. Because the owners, you know, they know what to do. And just glad to be a part of it. Well, and we'll talk about his future in a minute. But I do wanna get in the opportunity, you know, talk about you. And and you know, four thousand winds and finger lakes hall of fame, and you know, the family everyone knows what what you and your wife fashioned. Just really the first family of of racing not just in Farmington. But. In New York, and you talk about Jeremiah. And of course, Jeffrey following as well, it's really special Chris, and you know, everybody everybody so respects what you and your wife accomplished. Thank you. This horse is going to be a major really a major addition. It feels like the sprint division is in on the east coast is kind of open for a horse like him for the time being..
