"The jeff wagner has a shortened she'll today due to the brewers broadcast i wanted to mention this the talk a little bit about the oscars telecast the fact that the ratings plummeted while little bit of controversy came out of that answer related to the me to moment into the individuals who won awards during that that program one of them is kobe bryant and one of them is gary oldman ovan best actor bri one for short film that he uh he erode its narrated it was called the dear basketball won an oscar i think is the only nba player to ever win an oscar which is pretty amazing on its own merits but there's been a lot of pushback from women related to the meat to movement the sexual harassment awareness really campaign that's the caught fire around this world that way is a big issue at all the awards ceremonies but the difference here as an end in one case garryowen's ex wife called out the academy awards for giving him award saying congratulations jerian congratulations the academy for warning not one but two abusers with oscars referring to two gary and gary oldman and kobe bryant i thought we had evolved what happened to the meat to moment here's the deal here though jerry oldman was accused of these things of striking his wife with a telephone on this went to trial went to court the judge no charges no nothing with no convictions and the judge after this give gary oldman custody the two kids now you can make a connection there are nuts but if i have two people in their arguing about that this is a a violent abuser in a in a in a domestic situation that requires a lot of supervision in this and in one case a conviction the judge didn't say there he said no and gave gary oldman the two children so that's one thing accusing somebody of something like that is is is different than actually being convicted of these things in that case he wasn't so i don't see that parallel that people still get to process now people can also give up due process admit they were guilty like we saw with numerous elected officials actors kevin spacey who is a a tremendous actor now frank live with the senator from minnesota who admitted that that's different but in this case when due process happens.

"And i think we would be narrowing the field of actors to choose from if it's like pick anybody we're just gonna make their face look like a different face and it would make it harder for certain people to or new names to break into the into the world sure because less i don't know that means that any white dude gary oldman can play him okay so that i understand you're gonna get a like a bench of five dudes that you're like they play every role because we have crazy prosthetics now and you never have to worry about like all i would i wish tom cruise could play bill clinton but they look nothing alike like the now they're like does matter will just make us face a different face they really did a tom batteries as a great actor was two hundred armed jewish but you know he won the razzie so is on my mind i think it's kind of crazy then my brain sought the controversy we deserve the country's i would love to see happen is let's say we found out gary oldman just won best actor in that wasn't even gary oldman because that's good it and we had no idea what if it was somebody else garryowen's like i don't want to do this i'm going to send my friend and his friend did it and it wasn't him how cool that'd be if we that had to analyzed tape and be like that scene cana looks like ariel them that i get that one really tell then those are the conspiracy theories we as a country should be focused on not the ones we currently are it would be like the olsson twins before house yes or no which ones as yes.

"Are holding onto 35 and i just thought those sequences were in a waiting for the presses to turn waiting for the phone calls so that you can press go on the presi told by and age plus it is there is some emmett obviously it's very relevant today because it's a film about protecting the price from attacks from it from corrupt authority and i have to say watching those scenes of nixon's corruption just seemed like a bygone age of innocence michael hanks no relation i imagine meryl streep's performance pulled fought with such emotional and intellectual clarity i feel dutybound to root for her to get the fourth best actor best actress oscar on the film as a whole i couldn't help but make comparisons to spotlight and found the post a superior film in every respect spielberg's film crackles with energy really drilling me into the tough decisions being made house uphold the posted a much better job of balancing the personal story of its core characters with the bigger political story surrounding the forget spotlight or indeed all the president's meant the the post is now for me that the investigative journalism movie to beat michael thank you darkest hour is the number to garryowen's going to win the best actor oscar which is overdue because he is a brilliant actor i think the film itself is deeply flawed and you and i have discussed at length the problem with the chiefs eighteen and i think that the reason that that such a stumbling block is because it's not the it just it's not the one thing that trips the film up it's indicative of all the things that trip i do think it's a lot better than you have i know i know that's fine that's up see find uram at number one is cocoa think and let me just check a huge outpouring lofa cocoa and our you're wrong i was just checked in that it just on just in on the jewish internees inaugural anyway coca yes absolutely largest to a couple yeah go ahead and there'll be i mean i do i need to say there's nothing else i need said that i thought it was lovely but by do want people who see it to go and get the dvd of book of life because if you liked cocoa you.

"That would be awesome to see a comedy horror film win best picture he's not going to happen but i would love i would love to see that would be kinda cool though and biting fronts mcdormand definitely the frontrunner in best actress although that's as a very strong category i think i'd garryowen's the frontrunner for best actor and which is weird because daniel day lewis is right there he isn't the frontrunner this negras meryl streep another category of my analyst on hood also will no that's that's quite heard of 'cause she's been nominated what 21 solve the meryl streep award for being meryl streep i know only one three times so her conversion rate is terrible whereas i loses as much much better we'll see what happens so we shall yet and also um very very very happy to see the breadwinner for best animated feature because they change the rules last year and i was worried that it would logically a load of those smaller studios from the best animated category and uh because overseas cartoon saloon who made the breadwinner also did and the secretive kells and um some of the sea which wonderful and also oscarnominated and ends great seeing them continued to get attention this way under loving vincent which is the when you switch and its rules this isn't this juicers the by anybody caught him as a whole and not just talked to people not just by animators yeah which is so there was no i think it it helps having that sort of focus in that category because you did get those slightly older smaller films and it wasn't just dreamworks animation and picks are having it all their own way although of course there are still very much in the mix and i think coco's the frontrunner there although let's be honest of all the categories that one is a should show because because we have one nominee is available be nominated for an acc.

"Which neither be liked yes of course it's a contrivance of course it's a plot device but it's one that distills in an artificial seen a genuine portrayal of the emotion of that time the country was behind churchillian if that scene is viewed as it was surely intended as a parable portray something true was not seeking for historical accuracy than it becomes again as surely was intended the emotional sent piece of the film and lots of email surf saying that kind of thing and i had a conversation with a friend this morning just to back this up who found the film fantastic and that despite all the reservations about that scene found themselves shedding a tear right in the middle of that because of what column perkins says in that which is of course is not true but emotionally i mean you mentioned this as a line but emotionally it is true and it does capture what a lot of the country with thinking and so therefore it's that's weights there at the emotional how the film i think it is the emotional heart the film and i think that's actually why have a problem with the film i do i can't i do appreciate that it's working for people and i do appreciate that people really really love it i can't get over that same because i think dramatically it's all over the place and uh and i think it is the heart and i think that's that's the point at which all the things that are wrong with the film crystallized for me i think garryowen's performance is terrific i think he's absolutely brilliant and i think he's going to win the oscar for best actor this year and deservedly so there was a strong opinion that he should have won it back in in in 2012 whenever it was fourteen guitar soldiers by that said if you want to see fragility and selfdoubt analysts other things look at bryan cox his performance in churchill which is equally good but has got almost no recognition whatsoever my point is not the gary oldman is not brilliant he is brilliant but so was brian cox the film the broncos was in was deeply flawed and so is darkest hour from a purely dramatic poin.

"Radically new but i did feel that what joe right was doing was trying very very hard to inject a sense of immediacy and urgency into it to prevent it from ever becoming like stuffy meetings in rooms with me know people shouting at each other and i have to give him credit that he did do that meets its it felt like a movie that that cracking alone at a dramatic pace but with that sense of cracking loan dramatic price was also from me a sense of artifice a sense that what he was seeing was something that was playing out in a very very explanatory very very expose it three way that was being played almost like apply now there's no question that the film is finding its audience because i've heard of very very spur positive responses to it and he's as he was saying in terms of the reviews for america i don't want to undermine my admiration for garryowen's performance but i i think the film it said south east floored i think the film itself trips along with a certain degree of cliche i think it tells a gripping story in a way which fails dramatically urgent but at the same time is doing that feels like what is done to make it dramatically urgent is taken dramatic liberties that that don't work for me and i i never i never i never 100 percent believed in it and that was the i never affront percent did that thing that you need to do when you complete immersed in a film which i believe in the room with those people while i felt that i was watching was a dramatized version of those events disease sometimes very well dramatize them you know i think that you're right is is a technically good director although i have felt emotionally distance from somebody's from unprofor mahanama which i didn't which are really really liked i wasn't a huge fan of atonement and that as we know was a very successful moving did very well i always felt distance from it and i think there are a couple of things in it particularly that weird.
