"Leakers. This is probably easy. Oh, I guess if the rookie, it isn't. If JAJS is not available, so their seven would be LeBron, AD, Reeves, Rui, Vincent, Vanderbilt. And then there's two spots left for Torian Prince, who I think we both love for that team. I can't wait to see him on a good team, even if it is the Lakers, so I hate. Then you got Russell and Hayes, you got Reddish and then you have Max Christie, who's only 20 years old and everybody really likes him. And I think if all the guys I listed, I think Christie would be the one that just immediately got taken, so you almost might have to keep him. We're going to come off as the biggest Max Christie guys here for a couple of minutes. This actually isn't easy for the Lakers because the reason you probably did the D'Angelo-Russell deal, which is 17.3 million this year, and then a player option for 19 million, is they need that for a trade. Yeah. Well, combined with Rui, it equals Kyrie, which is the all-time red flag math. You just add up the contracts. It's like, oh, that's almost exactly Kyrie's number. Cool. So they all love Christie out here, right? You've probably heard the same stuff. He's good. Yeah. No, I think they think he's a real guy. So would you expose... The leaving clay unprotected argument is different than the D'Angelo-Russell one because I think I'd feel better about like, ah, I don't think they're going to take D'Angelo-Russell and then have him be the point guy for the team, like the stuff that you're supposed to do right. And then D'Angelo-Russell is running your basketball team. I think it's well established how I feel about that. But then can you tell LeBron like, hey, we exposed our best trade chip for Max Christie? It's a really tough one because they signed that Russell deal specifically to trade him in February. And I think even Russell, he waved stuff. He was just like, dude, here's an extra 7 million. You're a trade asset for us this year. It's more money than you're going to make. And he was like, great. Maybe you'll keep me. So if you expose him, I do agree that he would probably get picked. But I don't want to lose Christie. So I guess the question for me is, do you value Prince more than Russell on a team that's trying to win? I think they need Prince. I think he's going to be really important for them this year. So you're saying, all right, so then give me the two of the three that you're protecting if you're the Lakers between Prince, Christie and Russell. Prince and Christie for me. So you'd leave Russell exposed. I would. I'm okay with it because I wasn't even like nuts about signing him anyway. And I'm only doing it to trade him. And now I lose the possibility to trade him. You only are keeping him if you know you have a trade in February. And maybe they do, or maybe they think they have a chance. So then at that point, I guess you leave Prince exposed. But you could always trade Rui if it was a guy you really liked and you're trying to figure out how to get the contracts. And they've got a couple of the minimums with Reddish and Jackson Hayes. All right. So what's our final answer? See, the audience is enjoying this. They're like, man, I didn't think this was going to be fun, but now I'm involved in a Christie versus Prince argument. This is great. This is actually, I think it should be like pick up hoops where every other call that's debated, you just all turn like, all right, we got the last one. You get this one. It's the only way to be efficient instead of watching arguments while guys smoke cigarettes for 10 minutes. So I pushed back so hard on the clay thing. You can be the tiebreaker on this one. Then I get the next one. I'm going to leave Russell exposed. All right. Detroit. They're keeping Cade, the Thompson twin, Ivy. I think they keep Wiseman. Stewart, they just signed. Jaylen Duren. And after that, I don't know. Oh, Monty Morris I had just because I think he's a trade asset, I think they keep him. So maybe that's seven. So I had one spot left for Bagley and Burks and they're going to expose him. Burks is an expiring. Detroit could also do the thing where they just protect seven and they're like have at it. No, I don't think they would do that. Because did you mention Livers? I think they like him. Okay. So we'll make Livers the eight. That's easy. All right. That's good. The Knicks Brunson, Randall, Barrett, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson, DDV quickly. And then that last spot comes down to Grimes, Hartenstein or McBride. And I had Grimes down on the initial list, but if you want to make the Hartenstein case, I'm here for it. Because I think he gets picked in five seconds. Yeah. I protected Hartenstein. All right. But they're in a spot. They're going to lose somebody in this, whether it's Grimes, Miles McBride, Jericho Sims. I imagine Fournier is not going to be in demand. Fournier available. Yeah. But it's Randall Brunson, RJ, Mitchell Robinson, Hart, DiVincenzo quickly and Hartenstein. Oklahoma City is the most screwed in this gimmick. I thought they were going to be way worse off than they were, but go ahead. Oh, I guess if you're going to take out Wallace, what about this Michic? Michic? Michic? Yeah. This point guard? Yeah. I think they would protect him. But we're saying they have to protect him. He's not like a typical rookie. Because they brought him over. Okay. So we got SGA, Giddy, Chet Holmgren, Jalen and Jalen, Dort, Michic. And then that eighth spot comes down to Williams, Poku, Dang. Oh, it'd probably be Mann. Garuba, they like, and Isaiah Joe. I'm guessing it's Mann. I don't know. What do you think? I'll let you defer. You watched more OKC than I did this year. I'm probably a little too high on Usman, Dang, but I don't think that they would leave him unprotected. They took him that high. He was somebody that you thought, wow, as he put it together his last year in the Australian league, you could see that he was doing some things. So he really fits their profile. So I just don't think he would be left unprotected. So it's SGA, Dort, Chet, Giddy, both Williams, Dang and Michic. So that means it's Bertons, who's got a big number, Oladipo, Kenrich Williams, Garuba, who I loved reading. Some of the stuff with Hoops Hype, not always my favorite, but when you get a nugget like Danilo Gallinari telling some international newspaper that he's going to circle every Celtics date. I loved it. And you're like, what the fuck? Why are you mad at the Celtics? And then there was another moment where Garuba was telling people that he was like, you know, I was in a bad spot previously and they were like, all right, yeah, no problem. So anyway, I had Isaiah Joe available. Yep. Got him, Tiff. So Poku's available. Okay. So we'll have a top four pick in this draft. Poku could be the face of a franchise. Just put him right in the poster. Put him on the poster. I guess if we're saying rookies are not eligible, then Kobe cannot be picked, but it's Young Murray, Okongwoo, Griffin, Capella, Hunter, Bogdanovich. And then that eighth spot is either Sadiq Bey or Jalen Johnson. I'll let you pick. I put Bey down to be protected, but it'd be tough. I didn't like Jalen Johnson out of Duke. I thought there were still moments in the playoffs where he looked pretty scared, but when the moments were good, there was some really good stuff there. So he would be picked if he's left unprotected. And I think Bey wins that tiebreaker. Sacramento has a seven of Fox, Sabonis, Keegan Murray, Herter, Monk, Harrison Barnes. So they just brought back in Davion Mitchell. And that eighth spot is between Vezinkov, Lyles, Duarte. It seems like they like Vezinkov. So I'm assuming that would be the guy they protected, right? They were all excited about bringing him over. Yeah. He's a big dude. The three-point shooting has been pretty solid. And I think he falls into the Meachich category here. Yep. Last team is Utah. Wait, wait, wait. So unprotected for Sacramento would be who? Lyles, Duarte, Alex Len, Nurlans-Noel, Kessler-Edwards? Yes. Utah is tough because it's got marketing, Kessler, Clarkson. Oh, I guess George doesn't count. Okay. And neither does Hendricks. So therefore it would be marketing, Kessler, Clarkson, and Agbaji. And then we'd have to go Collins, Sexton, Olenek. I guess it's not as tough if we're taking the rookies. It's not that hard. Horton, Tucker. Okay. All right. They're unprotected just to be it's your seven, Chris Dunn, Shimonich. Horton, Tucker. Yeah. You learned a lot from LeBron. They can do that thing. All right. We're going to take a break and then we're going to do the draft. But before we take a break, do you want to be Seattle or do you want to be Vegas in this expansion draft? I would love to be Seattle. I fought hard for them in 2007 and 08, and I'm happy to hand Vegas to you. I'll take Vegas, but you have way more of a history of Vegas than I do. So you want Seattle? I'm happy to defer. That's fine. I'll take Vegas. You push for Seattle. I do have a Yellow Sonics t-shirt though that's kicking around somewhere. It's amazing what t-shirts you discover when you move. All right. Coming back, the draft. All right. It's time. It's the 2023 expansion draft that will never happen in August, but we don't care because there's nothing else to talk about. What do you want us to... You want us to have a Dame Lord, Miami conversation? It's not happening. I thought that deal was done. Nobody cares. I forgot. I forgot they figured out the deal a while ago. Do you have a name? Wait, wait. Do you have a team name? We're the Seattle SuperSonics. We're back. You're right. You're right. What are you going to be? Has anyone ever had an emotion? The Vegas regrets? The Vegas regrets? Right. And their mascot's just a guy with short sleeve button down, balding, bags under his eyes, reading a credit card statement. I love the Vegas regrets. That's funny. He just goes around, high fives kids, hugs them. It's just so good to see you again. I would buy a Vegas regrets basketball t-shirt right now. All right. The Vegas regrets are on the clock with the first pick. Who do you have? I almost didn't want the first pick. I'll take the first pick if you don't want it. I'll take it. No, this is history. I'm going to take Quinton Grimes. Okay. Quinton Grimes off the board. How do you feel about that? Good contract. What's he at? Good contract. He's still on a rookie deal. Yeah. Good asset. Can probably flip him. Would your expansion strategy be assets you can flip or guys you can build around or both? Because I would be in the assets. If I would just emulate what Presti would do in this situation, I think Presti would just be, I want assets. I want picks. I'll take guys you don't want. Give me a pick back. All that stuff. I would be down for all of it, but I don't know that I'm going to completely tell you my strategy here on draft day. Very fair. Very fair. That's what Costner would do. Do you like how I tried to get you to tell me your strategy? It's very Danny Ainge of you. Seattle SuperSonics on the clock. This is already tough. I don't like the board. Dude, you are not going to like the board. Ask Ringer to not do a breakout graphic of expansion draft teams because no one's going to go through the exercise. They're just going to look and be like, are you serious? These teams are terrible. We're breaking the rules. We're doing it after the off season. I can't wait. I can't wait until I pick. I can't wait for your pick right now. I'm going to take Kenridge Williams. Okay. He's off the board. What's his salary? Four years, 27 million. Basically six a year. 29 years old. I feel like I could flip them. Who do you got? Did we say Jalen Johnson's available then? Yes. All right. I'll take Jalen Johnson. Jalen Johnson. Nice pick. I'm going to take Xavier Tillman. Great value. I like my team already. I got some NBA players. You have Quentin Grimes, Jalen Johnson. I have Kenridge Williams and Xavier Tillman. Okay. That means... Kenrick Williams or Kenrich Williams? I always screw this up with Kenrich. I got it. You almost want it to be Kenrick because... Yeah, Kenrich. Okay. I don't think anybody does. Here's what's interesting. Because it's a two team draft, does that mean I can't take another Nick? No. Does that mean you can take a Nick? Nope. Once a team loses a guy, they're out of the draft. All right. I was almost going to... I might've had... If there was no rule like that, I may have gone three or four Nicks just to get started. Sims to McBride to Grimes down the lane. They lost their guy. Okay. So what did we land on with Memphis? Well, see, wait, they just... You took Xavier Tillman. So because you took Tillman, I can't take Aldama or La Ravia or Roddy, the body. Nope. Can't do it. The other expansion room is motherfucking you right now. They're like, seriously, of all the Memphis options, that's what you went with and now none of those guys are available? We're going to take Tillman to lunch tomorrow and be like, look, man, our whole offense is pick and pop with you, baby. You are a 2010 guy. This is happening. Okay. I got to go back to my larger board here. I was thinking about taking Thanasis for the Lakers or Heat. You like that? Too soon. I couldn't believe Miami didn't give him like 5 million a year. The full mid-level? Yeah. The full mid-level for like four years. Or they would have been when they get it. I don't know the latest numbers. Okay. All right. All right. I'm on the clock. Turning into the Vikings here. I know. Well, because we kind of left a few things. So does that mean Gary Payton was our option for Golden State? You can take them right now. See you on the Vegas Regrets. All right. I know what I wanted to do. I figured you would go wing heavy. No, I still have a theory that's still in play here. It doesn't matter. That Xavier Tillman thing sort of fucked me a little bit here. So you're taking Gary Payton? Well, I'm going to need somebody that I know can play, which even though my team's going to stink, I'll take Gary Payton because that way, at least contractually, it's not that big of a deal. I don't love him away from Golden State necessarily, but I'll take him just because I think there's a good chance that somebody else will want him if he stays healthy. So there you go. I'm going to take Jose Alvarado. You can have him. You just did it again. You ruined all the other Pelicans options because you're taking the... You know what I'm doing? I'm building a culture, Rossello. Guys from overachieving winning programs. Alvarado, you know who's going to love Alvarado? My fans in Seattle. We are screaming at you in our draft room. Wow, who would you have taken? Okay, but just to back up here, of the final New Orleans options, all right, we said Nance would be protected, and then that left Kyra Lewis, Najee, Alvarado, and EJ Laddell, and you decided to take Alvarado, and now I can't take any of the other guys. You cannot. Sorry. Kyra Lewis, man. Kyra Lewis has been available for a year and a half. He's been hurt. He's out of the rotation. You can trade for him right now. I guarantee the Vegas Regrets could acquire him for a second round pick. Yeah, but I'd rather just not had to go through the negotiation stuff. That's all. All right, now who else would you... I can't believe you did back-to-back teams where you fucked it up for me. You should have taken guys from those teams. Delos staring at you now. That's the antithesis of what I would want to do. So is Sam Houser. Kevin Porter Jr. Probably wouldn't do it, but I think he'd be protected anyway. His contract's really weird anyway with the staggered guarantees. I actually had... Oh, I guess we didn't do Houston. There's a Porter versus Joc Landau versus Tate. Which one of those guys becomes protected? I thought they would leave Porter unprotected. He's got a weird contract where you can get out of it at the end of the year anyway, but why would that team want Porter? If I'm a new expansion team, I'm not giving Kevin Porter Jr. the basketball and saying, it's yours. This is your team. You're our number one option. Even though he's really talented, I just wouldn't want to do it. Let's double check here with Houston then, because we didn't go through it. Well, Houston has Van Vliet, Jabari, Thompson, Whitmore, Jalen Green, Sengoon, and Eason as the guaranteed seven. And then that eighth spot is either Porter or Landau. Or you could take your guy, Jeff Green. Culture? No doubt. No doubt. I protected Tate and left Landau, Holiday, and Green unprotected. Let's say that then. That's fine. I can't take Tate, because I love myself some Jay Sean Tate, probably too much. Yeah, you're right. They would protect him. He's got a good contract, Tate. I'm going to hold off on that, and I'm going to go ahead and take Rubio. Rubio? Rubio. Interesting. What's his money? Two years left, 12 and a half million this year, and then it's 10 plus million guaranteed. I'm already on the books for a little bit more than I thought I would be this and into it. That's fine. But if we go through Cleveland, it's Garland, it's Mitchell, it's Allen, it's Mobley, Le Vert protected, Struce protected, Acoro protected, and I protected Niang. I just think there's worse teammates you could have for a younger group. But the thing is about culture and all this stuff, all of these guys are going to be replaced in three years. So what are you really building? You're selling uniforms and hopefully some tickets. For Dallas, if Lively can't be protected, Kleber would be their eighth guy, and they would have Luca, Kyrie, Grant Williams, Hardy, Kleber. Kleber is definitely protected. Josh Green, Curry, and O-Max. So that means Dwight Powell is available. Just wanted to mention that. Right, but O-Max is on the rookie thing. Oh, I guess O-Max. So that Dwight Powell wouldn't be available then. So that Dallas becomes harder then. Okay, but here's what I did. I'll run through a quick. Luca, Kyrie, Haraway Jr., Grant Williams, who's loving it already. Kleber, Josh Green without question. I can't believe Seth Curry gets a one year, $4 million deal with the second year not guaranteed in today's NBA, but that's what happened. That was awesome. And then I think they'd protect Jaden Hardy over JaVale, Rashawn Holmes, Powell, and Exum. I agree. So for Orlando, Powell, O'Franz, Black. Oh, Black's not. That screwed up my board. So Anthony. All right, so they don't really have anybody. Orlando was a little easier than I thought it would be too. Do you want me to run through what I have for Orlando? Well, who'd you have for Toronto? Because Toronto was Siakam Barnes, Inenobi, Pertl, Boucher, Precious, Koloko, and either Trent, Shruder, McDaniels, or Flynn as the eighth. Probably Flynn would be the eighth, right? I don't know. It's Siakam, Pertl, OG, Trent, Barnes, Shruder, Precious, Boucher, Boucher. I don't know why. So do you have Trent as a protected for them? I do. If you don't like the contract, do you think they'd leave it? Well, if Trent's the one who's protected, then- That would leave Thaddeus Young, AKA Thadgic Johnson, which I found on Basketball Reference, had never heard that. Otto Porter, Jalen McDaniels, who disappeared for the Sixers, Malachi Flynn, AKA Malichi Flynn on one NBA league pass broadcast this year. Garrett Temple, Jeff Dowton, Koloko. You know what? I'm going to take Jalen McDaniels. I think he was on a bad team in Charlotte, gets traded to Philly mid-season, gets thrown into the fire, is not ready to play in some of those games because he doesn't have the experience, and now is a distressed asset and we're going to rebuild him here in Seattle. So that's my eighth pick. So I have Kenrich Williams, Tillman, Alvarado, Jalen McDaniels, and the Vegas Regrets are on the clock. Okay. Give me Duarte. I was looking at him. That's a good pick. He was out of the rotation. He had some injuries, obviously, as well, but I fucking loved his draft stuff, man. And he shot, I think, like 39% his rookie year and there were different people involved with it. So meaning the guard rotation with the Pacers and it just was between his injuries and the lack of minutes and everything, I don't know that his numbers last year reflect who he actually is. So I'll take a shooter. A Detroit guy needs to go. I like the pick. A Detroit guy needs to go here and it's between Bagley and Burks and Killian Hayes. It can finally happen for you, man. You and Bags. It's not going to be Bags. I'm going to take a flyer on Killian Hayes, who I got to say... You're laughing. I got to say... He had a couple moments last year where I was like, all right. Did he? Yeah. Yeah. A couple moments. Give me a moment. Give me a Killian Hayes moment where you said, I see it. Eye test. Flicking around on league pass. Like, all right. I liked how he ran that high screen there. I'm just betting on pedigree. Lottery pick. They take a point guard like a year later. Weird situation. Lots of players. They had 40 big guys. Give them a whirl in Seattle. You're on the clock. Okay. I can't believe we didn't take Poku. I kind of regret that now. Well, wait a minute. Has anybody been taken? No, I took an OKC guy. They're off the table. You took all the Sacramento guys. Oh, that's right. Because you also took Trey Mann out of the mix and Poku. This is an unbelievable run of... You eliminated all the good players from OKC, Memphis, and New Orleans. You took the Knicks. I was there to take Hartenstein. Hartenstein. All right. Who do you got? We're now in D-low range just for the record. Fair. Fair. I'll do this because at least I know he can play and the number still isn't that bad. Give me Dwight Powell. Yep. I like it. What I've done is I have like 30 million in three guys. Good value. Not even. I'm like 25 million with the three guys. Then I have room to work here because I still want to come in under the cap. If I don't trade for anybody, all these guys get raises. They get expansion into the ear checks. I am going to go with the guy that I've liked for a while. He's still on a rookie deal. I think he's got some talent. His name is Zeke Naji, and all the nuggets are now off the board. That's fine. We can adjust. You like Zeke? I don't hate him. Malone's not going to play a lot of younger guys. They didn't need to. The rotation got even shorter. That's why I think it's interesting that Booth takes three rookies in, and they're all talking about like, hey, we love these guys. They can all play. They can do all these different things, and they're more seasoned. That's what we like here in Denver. Then I'd be like, I can't wait to watch all of them never play. Can we go over the Denver question though? Because I think this is a good way to break up this part of the draft. Well, Denver had Jokic, Murray, Gordon, Porter, KCP, Braun. I had Holiday as their seventh because they seemed like they wanted to play. Christian Braun's another off-season pronunciation. I don't blame you. Did I say Braun or Brown? You said Braun. I meant Brown. Yeah, everybody did. Would you leave Porter Jr. unprotected with four years and 150 million left fully guaranteed? I can't. It's a good question. I did think about it, you can't because you have this window with Jokic where you have the best player in the world that is prime. Porter had really good moments in the playoffs. You probably can't because then again, it comes down to like, okay, cool. It's off the books and his back and the medical concerns and all that, but then what? Now what are we doing? You just want a title. I think you're right on that one. I do like Hunter Tyson though. I don't know if his contract is as bad anymore when we see some of these numbers coming in. It's 33, 36, 38, 40 in the last year for the next four. Look, not great. I'm not celebrating it, but when you see Jalen's going to be at 70 in year five, I just don't think those numbers are that daunting. Fair. We're going to see some crazy contracts. Who do you have next? We've each taken six people. I'm going to start digging into my old – I know I don't have to worry about it. Give me Josh Minot. Who do you want? Josh Minot. You all right? I don't know who that is. He's the incredibly, incredibly skinny dude that has all sorts of skills. He's on Timberwolves. I guess I could have taken him a little bit later. I think this is another good segue. I never saw him play one minute of basketball last year. You didn't see him in the summer league at all? No. Oh, okay. All right. Look, there's just something about him. Now we're letting some of the area scouts get more influence here going, what if this guy put it together? I don't think it's a certainty they would leave – that they would protect Rudy Gobert. This is exciting right now for me. This is going to be the most exciting pick of the draft. This will be the breakout. Okay. But can we touch on the Rudy thing for a second? Whether you lead him out? Right. You and I would, but I don't think they can. That might be the right answer. But if you – You can't because then it's like you're just admitting we've made the most damaging trade of the last 25 years. I also – I have a zag. I'm glad you're sitting down. They probably did the best job against Denver last year in the playoffs out of the four teams. Like they gave those big guys – nobody gave Jokic like a shitload of trouble, but he kind of had to work the hardest against them. And I have to go through Jokic to win the title, and I want size. I want big dudes. And Minnesota has him and Nas and Towns. And I don't know, you can talk yourself into it if that's the team you have to go through. Did you see the stuff where he was shooting threes in the summer? There was a video – Honestly, I would like all summer content of big guys doing shit they'll never, ever do in a game. I would like to be blocked from all of it moving forward. Don't go to Hoopsite then. And I know 12-year-olds run a lot of these breakout accounts, but seeing a seven-footer at LA Fitness pull up from NBA 3 after going between his legs will never do it in an NBA game and then being like, this dude's been putting in the work this summer. And you're like, all right, cool. Anyway, if Minnesota had a tougher decision for the eighth guy to be protected, I think it'd be a real conversation. Go Bears, 41 million, 44 million. Player option for 47 million. He'll be 33 in his last year. Probably pick that one up. So that would leave you with Kat Conley, Edwards, Nas Reed, Kyle Anderson, Alexander Walker, Janet McDaniels. And then you'd have Shaq and Mina covered there, or you could go Wendell Moore if you liked him. That would have to be like a camp thing where they're around him all the time. They're like, oh, we don't want to leave this guy. But you're probably right. So I'm not going to spend any more time on it that they would feel like they couldn't do it. Because there's also the part, like imagine today's world, today's generation of NBA players, like his documentary starts 10 years from now and be like, they left me exposed in the 2023 expansion draft. It's like the Steph Curry draft. Underrated. The Steph Curry story. He was the sixth pick in the draft. This is like one of the most famous college players in the last 15 years. Nobody believed in me. LeBron, I'm not even supposed to be here. Dude, you're fucking 6'9 and you move like no one we've ever seen. Yeah. You're the biggest short thing that's come into the league since I've been alive. Ben Simmons. My next pick is going to surprise you, stun you. Ben Simmons. I know what it is. Oh my God. Ben Simmons. Okay. Let's go through Brooklyn. So you're right. He's unprotected in this exercise. Bridges, Cam Johnson, Claxton, Phinney Smith, O'Neill, whatever. Whoever they... Sharp, Cam Thomas, whoever, but they're leaving Ben Simmons unprotected, hoping somebody takes him. And he's definitely unprotected. And guess what? I just took him. We're bringing him to Seattle. We're going to introduce him to Gus Williams. All the Sonics fans. We're going to rebuild you, Ben Simmons. You're going to be the face of our franchise. And also I got to spend $89 million. I need one expensive guy. So why not Ben Simmons? There we go. Are you serious? Are you doing this for the video? I am not doing it for the video. I think if I'm an expansion team, what's the worst thing that could happen? I want to be bad anyway. Right? I want to be bad. I want to have a bottom five team. I want to take flyers on guys who have talent. I want to take assets that I feel like I can flip and I want to have a certain identity. And with Simmons, is there a 5% chance he might put it back together? He's like 25. This is over? Other than cocaine stories and shit like that, there's no version of this ever in the history of the league where somebody just completely lost it at age 24, who was an all NBA guy. And I know the odds are against it, but if I'm an expansion team, what do I care? I'll roll the dice with Ben Simmons. But I would tell the Nets, I'll take Ben Simmons, but can I get a first in like 2029? Or float me three seconds down the road or something. I would try to get something from them, but I would want him in this. Wow. I would want him in this. He would never have taken... No way. No way. I don't want him around. I don't want to see his videos being posted, speaking of videos in the off season, and then not playing. His whole, the JJ Reddick podcast episode alone would make me not take him. Here's the thing about football players and basketball players. When they hit their late 20s, there is a lot of track record of guys either figuring out, maturing, just kind of putting shit together. And maybe it happens with him. I think it's worth the gamble. All right, you're up. The Vegas regrets. You just took a guy that I've literally never heard of, and I follow basketball for a living. I wasn't on the Minnesota Summer League scene this year. I was really doubling down on that one. I'm just trying to go for it. I have a list of players who'd be like, hey, I always kind of liked that guy. What happened to him? Kyra Lewis. He would have been on the Vegas regrets. He didn't take fucking Alvarado. Give me Dalen Terry, Chicago Bulls. I like that one. I just always liked his game. Yeah. That's a good one. I had him. He was probably my next pick. He was on your radar? Yeah. You're not seeing the Alvarado thing. I'm an expansion team. I need somebody that's going to go to the fucking malls in Seattle with my jersey on and throw little balls out to people who's going to do interviews, who's going to be just like the fan favorite immediately, especially if I have Ben Simmons on my team. I need a fan favorite. Right. The Alvarado pick now makes way more sense. Thank you. You're trying to counter whatever vibes you have him wearing civvies, game 41. I need a shooter who has trade value and it's Sam Hazard time. I knew that was the biggest lock. I can't believe it took so long. I wasn't going to take him. I almost took him two rounds ago, but I knew I could get him right around here. Cheap contract. He's played in some games. Sneaky, decent defender. He's gotten better every year, and I look forward to seeing Ben Simmons find him in the corner for corner threes. I have Kenridge Williams, Tillman, Alvarado, McDaniels, Killeen Hayes, Zeke Nagy, Ben Simmons, and Sam Hazard. That's a pretty good basketball team. You have Quentin Grimes, Jalen Johnson, Gary Payton, Ricky Rubio, Chris Duarte, Dwight Powell, the Minnesota Summer League legend, and Dale and Terry. How many do you want to go here? Do you want to go 12, 15? We're going 15. We're drafting one from every team. We have not had a Laker yet. No, we haven't. I'm going to just let you know, even though my approach would tell you that Cam Reddish, be like, hey, what happened to that guy, baby? No, we're good. Not going to happen. It's funny that we argued for five minutes about whether they would leave D'Lo unprotected, and we've just taken 16 players and he hasn't been picked yet. You knew I wasn't taking them. I'm not. I know. I can just get them later. I'm excited about it. You could take them 16. Should we talk about Miami? The reason I bring this up is for one specific reason. All right, so my protectors, I have Butler Bam Hero, Caleb Martin, Jovic, who's apparently fucking awesome. Actually, that's kind of a Lillard joke, but I like Jovic before the draft. I like Jovic too. I don't think he should be the centerpiece of a Dame Lillard trade, but I like him. That's kind of a joke. That's kind of a joke. They actually have to kind of protect Lowry, right, to keep the money for potential trade? The thing is, yeah, they do. I had them leaving Kevin Love and Highsmith unprotected. Okay, so if Highsmith is unprotected, I'm taking him right now. The problem is if it's Butler Bam, Martin, Hero, Jovic, Duncan Robinson, Kyle Lowry, there's still an eight spot for them, and they probably protect Highsmith or Love, right? So we have to decide what makes more sense for them. I had Highsmith protected. I worked it to go, all right, this is another one of the Miami heat culture development guys, and if I think there's somebody who I liked some of his minutes, and I liked a lot of Highsmith's minutes last year- You and I both liked him, yeah. So then he's protected. We can't manipulate. I had a moment late last night where I was like, just fucking get Precious Ochoa unprotected and get your dude. And then I was like, no, I can't break the rules of the game. I had him unprotected because I thought we were counting rookies, but since we aren't, I think he has to be protected. They don't have enough guys. So it's probably Kevin Love for that team. Yeah, and it's not a ton of money, so we'll be okay.

"I mean, I think it's more of a conversation than what I was saying before. You know me. I hate trade machines. I think I probably have them in my pop up blockers like trade machines count too. I hate them. I despise them. I go like this with the crucifix. Like I don't want anywhere near me. Keep them from round your boy. Anyway, so if you're not giving up any key key member of the team, other than Ingram, I think it's more of a conversation. They've got so much young talent on that team, even just, you know, they've got guys on that team that would be nice young pieces that I imagine. Brooklyn would want to be in on, that they would prefer, over Garrett temple. Garrett temple would make the trade work, but I imagine that Brooklyn would ask for more than that and probably say we need more than that. Beyond just Ingram. Maybe they wouldn't. If you could get it done like that, I could understand the logic behind it. I probably still wouldn't pull the trigger, but I think a lot of people would. My thing though to what you were saying is you used the phrase slow boil, which is funny when we're talking about New Orleans because of their food. I don't know how much of a slow soft pedaling that is. They look pretty ready to compete. Maybe contend is a strong word. Two years from now, they could be a real contender in the west. Maybe that's a little early, maybe it's not. It's hard to know exactly what they are until you see Zion is part of what they're doing. But they might not be that far away. And that's why I'm saying like, I don't know that I would, I don't know that I would give up a ton of picks and a franchise level player, obviously him enzyme being that Ingram.

"Like that. I feel bad for preacher, but I just think that they have to get another shooter. Now, it could it be me Smith. If they play him more, but I just think they need to knock down veteran three point shooter, a guy who can come in and go, okay, you're gonna shift off me because you're putting so much emphasis on Jalen and Jason. Well, I'll be right here in the corner, knock them down. I think that makes him a much better offensive team. Right now, they really don't have that like grant has really turned into that. I don't know, can you depend on his grant that guy that type of guy, I don't I'm not sure because grant's more of a defender. He's like a three and D guy kind of a three point shooter by when he's open. I don't know if you want him. Okay, grant, just feed grant the ball. Like I don't think that that's his role, but I think by trade deadline, I think they'll have a better understanding of what they need offensively, because I don't think they're a far away from being a good offensive team. They might be just a player away from being a good offensive team, a guy who can make it easier on other guys to score where you can't when we find a last few years of his career, Kyle korver, like who's who, I mean, you obviously, it's not just the Celtics. You covered the entire league. It brings available by the deadline that makes sense. That's a good question. I like, I thought they should have a couple you can work on after brand Forbes who had won a title in Milwaukee. Their low budget guys were not like the reddits and a premium shooters that are good spot up shooters and your brand for the signing, right? We started right back to San Antonio. Guys who can knock down the three ball and to me, that's what you that's definitely what you need. Like, and I'll have to look at the list of guys who it might be expiring contract to see if you can get a guy like that like the Lakers, and I'm not a big guy and the Lakers signed Wayne Ellington. The warriors got auto Porter junior, you know what I'm saying? Those types of guys. The guy who can just, you know, the Lakers tried, we can't base where it hasn't worked out. It's not playing. But if you look at teams, you look at, you know, a Garrett temple, like a guy who this is the professional shooter, right? Those with his job is, comes off the bench and just opens the floor up..

"That are good offensively whether it's devante whether it's yoenis known hasn't been great but he's a good ballplayer scorer so i think You know trae murphy was brought into shoot michigan Forty percent from three. I just think ingram is missing a lot of passing windows when he runs all those paul screens because he loves them mid range. So that's all for me to say like he is the reason he wasn't listen to cromer. Career zion is incredible at that. But i just think you're seeing some of the struggles there that's had pervading to the rest of the offense on just doesn't feel dynamic and it's because they're missing a top five or six seven offensive player in the league but i think ingram your focal point is really kind of limiting them but it's not ingersoll just the reality situation. Yeah and it's. It's really hard to. Because i like like we mentioned. I don't wanna be extremely argentine yet. Because i do think like especially with the player like zion and his specific abilities. Like i can look at this and say okay. I picture brandon. Ingram doing things off. I can inside action. We're just off of what's is doing like okay outlook so much better. Like and i think about like i i mean honestly to me devante had a really good start to the year like he's looked fantastic The shooting has been phenomenal from him. And obviously spacing florida ohio. Let's what it was brought in to do. The passing has been really good for them as well. And you like vision that offers. I like okay. Great it's just like like lopate mushroom with not like nauseous. Being asked to do way too much right now off the dribble. Like i think when he's doing things creating off the cash like okay. That's a lot better but but like you mentioned too. He is not seen passing. Reads at all coming out pick and roll like a part of it is. I think he's really only comfortable doing things with his left hand that which is still an issue for him But yeah that's just been. It's been a lot like you mentioned too Part of it's tough. Because josh hart was was missing part of the season. He's been good since he came back. But they've just been shuffling the lineup so much like originally had nashi. Marshall barely playing. You still not playing a ton. But his minutes have fluctuated a lot Garrett temple and tomas cider and ski were playing a lot to start the year and now they're minutes have gone down clearly willie. Green is trying to make things work. But it's just it's not there yet. They have looked better recently..

"A good player and I think part of it, you know, you don't always want to rely on contract values as the calibrator who's actually good or not. But like Devonte Graham in a relative. They were both regions Devonte Graham got twelve million a year and Lonzo ball. Got twenty. Yeah. I think I would rather pay Lonzo twenty than Devante twelve. They also obviously get Tomas satoransky and Garrett Temple. And I don't think that both of those guys can be like, useful bench players. Like, they'll be like New Orleans seventh and eighth men this year. I would say. Yeah, no help. And having having, that stability in rotation is, is very good. That also means that tray Murphy is put in a situation because you only he'll probably only play significantly if he's doing really well. And that is, that's what you want for a, for a young guy in a lot of circumstances, especially if they're kind of worn, a complimentary Roll is dead. Get the opportunity. Make the most of it and if you don't then you're not you're not getting out out there. Getting crushed every night. Yeah, I don't think it's going to happen to him. Anyway. Yeah little tree Murphy. I think his look phenomenal. Did some really, he's looked absurd. Great. I think don't U Marshalls. Look really good at summer league as well. I would expect him to really get some substantial minutes this year as well. I did not they re-signed DD Lozada. I'm not really a d d guy. I've never totally gotten that wrong and Willy hernangomez, you know, depth inside. That's great. Although another post big, which is interesting next to Zion Williamson. Yeah. Look, I think the scene is probably better next season than they were this season, but I think it's going to be more of a function, not of the machinations of the front office, but of just guys getting better, Brandon Ingram will get better dialogue. He hit better nickeil, alexander-walker will get better, you know, whatever happens with Jackson Hayes, you know, just mentioning the fact that he seems to have a potential job. It's at some point in the future given that he was arrested. What was that two weeks ago? Something like that? Yeah, so, you know, those guys, if you know, Jackson has playing off Kyra Lewis, obviously will get better as well. Tree Murphy, I think is a really good addition and nausea Marshall get better. I think they're going to show internal development and growth and they're going to win more games next season or a higher percentage of their game because of that. But I don't think it's going to be because of what the front office did. I think the front office? Probably hamstrung them more going forward in the office with this offseason. Look over the last 18 months. We've all had these big events that we've had postponed, and we haven't gotten a chance to dress up nicely in a while. But whether or that next chance is, you gotta make the absolute most of it with indochino, indochino is the best way to personalize your clothing off and make sure that you're getting the custom needs..

"And I have some pretty real questions about fit in particular with one guy that they acquired so long. For the sake of this, let's take out tray Murphy because he for for what I'm just going to say because he's kind of separate from all of this. But what what's so weird to me about? What David Griffin did is if you believe a lot in the talent that you already have. And like, that's my theory of the of the Pelicans offseason is the David Griffin thinks Cairo, Louis, and Nicole, Alexander Walker, and maybe Josh car. And some of these other guys like that, that didn't necessarily have usual, so that they can play, and that they were going to take on large spots within the Pelicans and like, either probably like, oh, I partially agree with that on the nickel, Alexander Walker front, particularly. And so, I'm, I'm a little bit more lukewarm. I, I'm open to the possibility, but I'm not sure. Like, I like some of what I saw Shack Louis last year and what it's on separately, but do I think he's like a definite starting point guard now or in the future, I'm not quite there yet. I hope to be in two months. Like that would be fantastic run, but I think that okay, so let's take that image. What's what's for the sake of argument? Let's take that as a given. You still use the resources that you have as a front office to put your team in the best place to succeed. And so for me that is happening. Some different looks offensively. And defensively bringing in players to plug some of the gaps. And I thought that Griffin basically just punted on all of that. Like they brought in a satire and ski, they brought in Garrett Temple to totally fine veterans, but not players that make sense with this timeline, not players that are going to. I don't think they intend for them to make a major difference. I think that's kind of in some ways of life by gryffin acquired them. They brought in a center in Valanciunas. Who incite. I mean, I thought he was better than him last year, but I don't think that what he brought in Memphis last year is directly applicable to New Orleans because he's playing with Sian and not John and those guys are dramatically different basketball players. And yeah, can we can we talk about that fit firm? Sure, because that's the one that I'm a little bit skeptical. Of I thought that Jonas Valanciunas in Zion work. Probably two of the five best players in the NBA last season. In terms of just big finishing at the basket in terms of efficiency, in terms of being able to get a bucket out of post stops. In terms of being able to like roll and seal guys off and then just need a jump over an elevator or in this case flick that little right-handed hook shot over the top. I thought those guys were two of the best at The Rim in the NBA. And in fact, there are two of the best that the rim in the NBA because of scheme and because of the way that they fit together on the court, I think Zion is going to be fine regardless of who you play next to them. Like they played him with Steven Adams bought it last year and there were two guys around the basket. It's not like Jackson. Jesus was reading the 4 either, right? So xot you made at work. I really wonder if they're going to get the mole. Out of Jonas Valanciunas. And what his skill set is, as like a guy that we just talked about with Memphis can score actually really, really well and create shots in the post, really, really well..

"Thoughtful laptop. Okay, so the Pelicans in essence, moved Lonzo ball and their own Lottery protected first-round pick for next year for home of on T, Graham who they signed and traded in for that first round pick. That is heading to Charlotte. Tomas satoransky Garrett Temple in a second round pick. It's kind of hard for me to think that was the right move em. Wait, which part given up the first round? Pick all of it off. How much, I think I would have just ran out and making again 4:47 so it'll be like 11 for the first year, okay? Okay. I I think that the Pelicans gave up the two best assets in a move. And I guess the why I'm worried is that I'm not convinced that in two years, Devonte Graham is going to be as good as Kyrie. Louis, I guess you need a stopgap all Kyra continues to improve. But like, I'm just not convinced of that. I'm not totally convinced that the Jonas Valanciunas fit is going to work. And on top of that, you can make the case that sure, like, if Jonas Valanciunas, it doesn't work. And he leaves next offseason and wage. My son around, he leaves next. Offseason we have another Max cap space. We can try and learn free agents everything like that. We've created a increased, our flexibility long-term, what are you building though? Wage like, with Zion Williamson you should be building towards something and I'm not convinced that New Orleans is actually like building a core of players around Zion that like, he is going to build with going forward. That is going to create a title Contender. No, yeah, no. I mean, they're they're, they're blowing it right a little bit playing that way. Yeah, this was this was an. It was awful. The bad move. Why not? Just re-sign line. So like I'm sorry man, but he's a good player and see if you don't like him for your team. Trade him, other teams like him. Silly like silly, if you're getting your case is basically, we would rather have Tomas satoransky and not want a gram, then Lonzo. And by the way, both of those guys pretty similar in terms of the way that they play to Lonzo, neither of them, particularly put a lot of pressure on the rim. Something that in New Orleans, not necessarily as big of a deal because you have Zion Williamson. Who is the biggest driver of offense toward the basket in the entire NBA? You also have you own a silencer units now who is? I thought he was like one of five centers last year including Zion if we want to call him a center that I felt like reasonably confident like girls are throwing the ball to like after a roll into like a seal and then he can throw that little hook shot upright I guess that it's not as important to put pressure on them..

"We're going to break down, NBA free agency. There's been a lot that has happened over the last thirty-six hours, Dave. How're you feeling you know, that's a great question because it would be very easy for me to say, oh man, I'm tired or whatever, but this was kind of a boring free agency. Let's be honest. There have been some interesting moves, but not that many, it was all stuff that we kind of saw coming. Like, Kyle Bower was never going back to Toronto. We knew a couple of days ago, basically, that he was going to Miami. No real surprises Malik monk to the Lakers is bigger surprise to me than any of the other moves that really happened Jeffrey into the Nuggets, my favorite move. Oh my God, we need to talk about your some priorities here. If Jeff, Green is your favorite move to the Nuggets wage. What? Yeah, I mean, listen, he's above a certain line, right? Like he's better than Shaq Harrison so we can talk about him, he is better than check Harris, and that's true. As much as I love shack. Harris and Shout Out Jack Harris and he's dead better than Jack Harrison. I feel like people have not come here to listen to The Jeff Green to the shack Harrison discussion. I feel like they've come here to listen to some of the bigger moves that have happened back in free agency. Thus far, the order of operations were going to go and we're going to talk about the Bulls, then the Pelicans, then the heat, then the Lakers, then the Knicks and then after that we might do like a little bit of a grab bag kind of thing off ending on what we get to write, but let's just start with the bulls because to me that is, by far the most interesting set of moves that our team has made they signed and traded for Lonzo ball four years. Eighty-five million dollars and they moved Tomas satoransky Garrett Temple and a second round pick. They signed and treated for DeMar DeRozan, three years, eighty-five million in moved that young al-farouq aminu in a first-round pick to do that. Thought that they also have signed Alex Caruso to a four year. 37 million dollar contract that's a lot of maneuvering. The Bulls wage don't have as many people on the roster as what I thought they did. They still have the lottery marketing restricted, free agency, hanging out there. I'm going to be honest, I don't think I'm as down on a set of moves as everyone else in the basketball podcast. Writing Community is down on this. Our good buddy. Says part now, is is not ready to spit hot fire regarding this DeMar DeRozan signing. Okay. The Demar signing. Sure. Okay. I don't get it at all. Let's.

"See? Yeah. The campaign deal. Fantastic value there so I really like that one. I like the Jeff Green. Yes ma'am. You know five million a year you know for him to Denver. I think that one's pretty good but tune we haven't seen terms on that yet. So let's see. You know what that comes back at that might have been the tax birth. Mid-level. You know, that might be one of. Let's see what else we do and then you know he kind of decides after that. I think that might be happening maybe with the Lakers to give me. Let's see. What else we do. Auto-pay for junior. Once that's up being one pressure at the man, that's what I mean at the minimum it's a you know it's a low-risk potentially medium reward. It may it may turn out to be nothing right? If he's if he's in June out of shape and stuff like that, but your risk is so small that it's, it's definitely one that you take. Torrey Craig, and TJ McConnell. I think both got Fair deals for what they are. Yeah, they did when he won the too many unknowns. We don't all what's going to happen. There deals, I didn't like Zach Collins. I know you didn't like mascola Bunch, but that's such a small dollar amount. I mean, that was more just like, it's just yeah, yeah, I want to do necessary, really care all that much about Garrett Temple sounds like you get two years guaranteed in that sign-and-trade. I would have liked it better if was only one year off. But yeah, I tweeted this, I liked it better when we had some really stupid teams that did deals was like what the hell is that for this guy? I mean the only one truly that we have is that Collins and it feels so weird that it came from the Spurs which up until about two years ago, I would have just assumed Zach Collins is going to be awesome. Yeah. Like he's going to be great and this is going to work out. Amazing that that mistake wage. Is gone for me. I'm I'm all right. I don't you know that. Yeah, I'm not going to go back to it again at 2:00 in the morning and Hamilton further around these parts. We call those kind of deals Moscow jobs so long. Yeah, we yeah, it might end. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's hopefully, hopefully they protect themselves and and if they did significantly, I'll come back I'll give them me a call and I'll apologize to everybody in San Antonio there for that one cuz I like the McDermott deal for. Yeah. I think that would make sense. The Devonte. Graham one just a little weird cuz we had to give up a first-round pick. So I think that is a little off. Yeah yeah yeah. I don't like giving up the first but agreed. There was a man everybody we had them all on 30 how telling is it that the Pelicans would rather not give up a first-round? Pick two for the privilege of paying Devonte Graham, then talk to Dennis Schroder Yeah, pretty bright. Yeah, yeah that's bad, that's bad. Yeah I mean sure do miss play to say yeah, big time you all around completely blue one or we got something good. It's just about ten years to get that we notification. I was all excited. I'm like oh, we have a deal and open. Well my guess is, we're probably about done for the yep. With details about 2:00 is when everybody says all right, let's back it in for the night. "Don let's move because the number he signed for basically the mid-level exception money roughly, you know, ten million or so year for Graham dad's. A number that Charlotte probably would have just matched on in the end. You know, he's that's about his value. I think, I think that's a very fair value contract, you know, now, the question that you could have is, why not just keep lawns all sounds like maybe he didn't really want to be there anymore. Though is, is my guess is he was ready to move on like a mad Tomas satoransky and Thursday, diary forgot Garrett Temple. I mean that trade as well on there. So, you know, they're kind of net in Graham Center and ski Temple and Valanciunas Adams ball berth. So out, probably even maybe a slight, I could lean towards that being a little bit of a win, you know. I think Graham inside Iran Skee-Ball blood. So that's probably pretty even. So it kind of comes down to Earth Balance Unison Adams. How you feel about that? But yeah, I think it's all right. And what I'm looking at the Lawns of deal, I would have just kept ones. Oh, if I was the Pelicans just looking at that piece of it. But again I don't want to be there. Okay? But that's, there's nothing that they got coming back where I thought, oh, okay. That's a good by understand why they decided decided to part ways with Bonzo. It didn't make sense. So that tells me that he was probably pushing to to go Yeah. Okay let's let's get into the phone one. San Antonio Spurs don't get him. No one knows what what they're doing. Yeah it's I don't my name's Doug McDermott's. Sure. You needed another forward. You need. It does shoot are great. You went out. Is it an over pay of 14 million a year? Yeah probably a little bit but I mean Duncan Robinson. Just got five years. Ninety million. Three years, forty, two million for McDermott. Not going to kill you. I'm fine with it. Is that Collins Zach Collins though. "Great signing and I think it's a good signing for a future too, because he's still extremely young and somebody that can grow with them. So I like that move a lot for the Bulls Keith. Before we move on to the one. That's going to tear me to shreds. What did you think about the Lawns of signing off? Yeah, I thought it was interesting. It's going to be a sign-and-trade clearly, right? The Bulls were weren't over the Gap team, so they're going to send back to Macon around ski and assigned Garrett Temple. So, for everybody who's ever asked, you can you do a double sign-and-trade? Yes. You can in the sales going to be it. So, we'll, we'll talk about satoransky in Temple on the Pelicans portion of this, but yeah, Lonzo ball, you know, I love that Edition, you know, back on and off the ball. Now at this point in his career we know Zach LaVine and the couch events that are going to play through those guys a lot. So I think Lonzo working as a cutter and has a spot-up shooter really works quite well with those guys. And as you mentioned brings the defense and that's you know, primarily what that second edition was so I'll give you a few. I know you don't want to probably wreck your carpet in there. But if you need to pour one out for your boy, Alex Russo, headed to the Chicago Bulls and I saw someone in the chats. Say yeah. Well will he come back for a for a a discounted deal with them? Lakers will be back out. No, dad side. It's once we're down to this point. Yes. Maybe on occasion that will do that go. So, but I don't think so. Trevor, they're saying in the chat, they, they're having a dog. I'm just post it. Yeah, I just boosted your audio a bit for you. So Caruso the deal. I'm totally fine with thirty-seven million dollars. That's, that's some good money for him. They're one of the best defensive guards and they are better defensive guards in the NBA, he's the guy who knows how to play his role. You really gain an appreciation for how good he is James of Oddball defense in terms of his communication and all that when you're watching him play, he's a very very impactful player. They're the Lakers will get into their side of it and just a bit but I think the Bulls got I got a really good one here particularly if they're looking to improve their defense you between long ago and Alex, Caruso the Bulls perimeter defense just got significantly better. So yep, I like this get for them. I think he's a he's a nice signing and Thursday. And could be a big piece for them moving forward here. It's it's not as impactful I think as the lungs of signing but this is a guy that can help get you to where you want to go in terms of the Bulls being inconsistent playoff team. Yeah, absolutely. I jokingly said, you don't have to worry about Nick vukovich as a rim protector. If the guys can't get to the rim cuz they can't get by the perimeter Defenders. So, yeah, I think they're in pretty good shape of, you know, from that position..

"Than a small forward but he's doing pretty well. I think overall maybe our best perimeter defender which is not saying much when he got kobe. White zach levine. Reinhart's jackson's adding those guys out there. But he he doesn't take off table his shot for long. I thought it would be hand. I'm really excited for him. Going forward tell the other day that it. It's a show has decided to remake the denver nuggets in the chicago bulls was actually being taken murray spot patrick billion taking that that That jeremy grant spot you know that kind of do it all forward next to a passer big like yokich that we've got now in buddha that so i'm really excited i mean he's he's definitely the the reason we all hope and i think the front office is really banking on him growing lot in the next few years to take advantage of Anzac beans prime yet. I'm glad that you guys touched on. Obviously all the great Traits that pat already has displayed so far in and like. I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet for sure not. I might have missed it if we did. But is the second youngest rookie in this class after alexa pocus have ski so You know ages are pretty. Pretty good predictor for higher ceilings. Especially if a guy's already contributing at a low end starter level as a rookie And i think a lot of the fruit in the a lot of the kind of low hanging fruit and pats development is within his reach in the next couple of years and there's a very clear role progression for him in the sense that he starting as a small forward now which is great. He can do combo forward things and fits neck great next to fat as well. The spacing is there so his inconsistent kind of catch and shoot mechanic. Sometimes can can be a little bit forgiven especially when their space like you guys mentioned to cut into attack closeouts from advantages that have been created by either zakar route so that's fantastic Getting minutes for pat right now is really really good and the best possible thing you can hope for and in terms of that role progression like data on the older end of the squad. He's on a partial guarantee next year. Although i do think the team will bring him back and that secondary rim protection means that will can slide up to the the nominal four play next to vote and we can look for another wing potentially in the future. So i think the the front office has done a good job so far building with both the present and the future in mind and pat while he seemed like kind of a future pick at the time has proven that he can play a real role on a team. That wants to win. Now you know maybe we're going to have to do. Go with a matchup specific. Maybe we need to play garrett temple for some specific matchups. Maybe we need to do something like that. Or maybe even troy brown junior. He can kinda ramp up get with the teams trying to do and show a little bit of of ceiling there in something to hope for but yeah. I've been really impressed with pat so far..

"So the Bulls lost last night when I was 71 of three there now 8 12 on the season. On by No, They're still sort of, you know, close to the playoff picture, but there is a better teams to who have struggled early with covert issues. And I never thought like, Listen, I I never I never entered this season thinking that this was going to be a playoff team. Never did. I mean, you wouldn't be completely 100% shocked, if somehow some way they found their way is the eight C but I wasn't expecting this season to be a playoff team. Then I always laid out the seven teams that I expected to make it from from last year for sure, and like Brooklyn improved, obviously, too. Like when you look up at the standings, and you see that, Hey, the Hornets aren't eighth in Cleveland's and seventh that maybe you could make a run. Because the Bulls are only a game behind those teams. You forget that the Toronto Raptors who are better than the Bulls. Are ahead of them still, and they're not in the postseason. Yet you forget that Miami who made it to the NBA Finals. Our a game and a half behind the bulls, and you've gotta figure that team when they've been a mess. When they get everything together, right is going to make a run and will be better than the Bulls. Do You know what I mean? So I all I feel like there are right now Two teams that are below the Bulls that a lot of people may not be accounting for. They're just looking up instead of looking in the rear view mirror that will will make a run and late last night is the essence. Guys of the Lowry market in conversation. It's what Darnell Mayberry wrote about in the athletic piece about him being one of the biggest riddles in Chicago sports. You can't be Lowry in your fourth year, and you're on this contract. Dr. And you, You just can't be a non factor like that's one area where I like Zach again isn't perfect, so I don't want anyone. Misinterpret What my love for Zack. He's not perfect. The shot at the end of the game, maybe could have been better. He had been going to the hoop with some success. But what I love about Zach is mid third quarter. He wasn't having his best game. Bulls are down. 18. Zach got it in his mind that he was going to start the fight. He was going to scratch and claw. I was going to get to the hoop. Sure enough, You brought the Bulls back in the game. They cut it down to single digits. He took it upon himself in a bad game to sort of turn it around to have an impact. Right. And Lowry just there are these games where he is just like some random dude off the bench. You can't have Garrett Temple type games. Where every now and then you just flash And then for a couple of games, you know you just don't Too much. You're supposed to be a part of the core piece, and that's a lot of money that you're debating about giving him and these are the games that you have to get rid of. You just have to. Well, the listen like Abdullah was breaking our seeds earlier saying, Well, why are I thought you guys were gonna give everybody money at the end of the day like I I think that the benefit they have with a guy like Lowry's. You've got another 50 games to see what he does. And then you could make a decision like I'm no, I'm in no rush to pay him And I'm no rush this to kick him out the door, either. I'm in a rush to what? Sit back and watch him see what he can do to develop some sort of consistency, and he's consistently inconsistent or visa. Consistent non factor. Then you're not going to pay him anything. I nine and four Did nine and four last night. What kind of a game is nine and four and 36 minutes against the team that you just scored 30 on your Why you only taking eight shots. Why do you on Lee have four rebounds? Why don't you have an assist or a steel or a black shot? So the hell I use this analogy last year with our marketing Some nights will score 30 some nights. He's just getting his steps in. He's got that odometer on. He's just out there going through the motions and getting his steps in and you can't have that if you want a next tension if you want to be that guy, if you want to be the number three on the team because We all know that Levin's gonna be a number two. You need to get a real number one larger market. It needs to be your number three. And if you want to be, you can't have nights where you're just out there getting steps in Don't you write analogy? It's a great analogy of that. You can't be Daniel Gafford like nine and four is okay for Daniel Gafford filling in for Wendall Carter someone else But these are the Knights also where? The days where you're glad that they didn't rush to any type of contract extension for him as well. Yes, like you could be sitting here now, and I don't know what that contract would have looked like if he had come to terms with the Bulls. You could have been sitting here right now, after last night's game and going Oh, my God. Look at the handcuffs that they've put on us with this, So I look, it's discouraging. It's frustrating. It's xda pressing in some ways. But you're not tied to him. So you got another 50 games to figure out exactly what he is who he can be and what you may or may not be invested in. I mean, Denzel Valentine is having a bigger impact. Against the New York next two days after you scored 30. Denzel's taken two more shots and you hitting two more shots than you. Denzel is getting six rebounds. He can't even jump. Then tell Varun kind. Can't even jump any outrebounded your 7 ft. Power forward by two last night hit three more assists, hit two more steals. I don't like Denzel Valentine is a basketball player. Hit 13 and six Look, I think it's you're not as concerned about Kobe White because Kobe White's a second, a second year player lower. He's been in the late twice as long but I would prefer to see a little bit more from him as well. Like that leaves me a little itchy, scratchy as well. And right. I have been very frustrated watching Kobe like the frustration from me comes in these games where Not only do you lose, Okay, It's one thing you're gonna have stinkers in the NBA. And and tips is going to scout units frothing at the mouth to get back in his old team. But it's another thing to watch who you perceive as core pieces. Do what they did Lowry to do what he did when Del's missing more games because of injury, and Kobe White at times doesn't look like he can even dribble the basketball. Those are the issues that I have. It's the The okay. You're gonna lose. You're gonna lose in this game. You're going to be inconsistent. You're growing team. I get it, but you can't look. At least Zach is still gotta improve his shot selection. But Zach every night is putting up 25. Zach's even in bad games. He's putting up 20. Zach is fighting out there. He's Klein. Denny's not perfect, but he is he is sort of showed you that he's going to be an impact for you every night, and you're right. Wanna Kobe is learning a new position under a new coach In his first they played 20 games. But there are just times where it looks like Kobe just learned how to dribble it High five in Northbrook or trying to I mean from frenetic and just Trying to do too much and like slow down, you can't score 10 and one in one trip down the floor. It's just Listen, This is what you're going to get. I I'm excited to see where this team is going. But I'm also realistic with what what to expect this year, but I think you're finally going to get a good set of eyes. And a good group that knows how to develop players that are going to be able to take a entire season worth of evidence and make some some.
