There's one in Oakdale that closed Now She's a beautiful staple in downtown Hopkins there, but enough about movies Gucci Mane guys. His wife hooked him up with a huge Christmas present. She spent $2.5 million on a subway. It's the size of a subway foot long sandwich. It's a pendant. That says Ice Daddy, and it's named after their son who's named ice. And so they wanted to commemorate his their new baby. But $2.5 million and it weighs £22. And there's 540 carats of diamonds. And it included not only a pendant, but a Cuban link chain and a bracelet. Wow. Right. Why? Why wouldn't you just buy like, Basically she bought him a paperweight and a very expensive paperweight that shaped like a necklace that I find fascinating that if you bother To shape it as a necklace. And you also when you're clearly not unaware that, like the other arm needs, because there's a bracelet too, so you need more on the other arm. Even yourself out. You can't go around his neck. Where's that? He's clearly never gonna wear it. You wear it for some pictures. Yeah, put that 2.5 million in the market and a decent markets time and make 200 grand a year. Just say Let's just say this Gramp. I'm sure that they did that to eventually spent some money on some investment. I sure hope so. Ice will be good. Achilles and Patroclus in Modern Media

"A couple of episodes are discussed the mythological figures Achilles and Patrick lists and the depiction in ancient texts most notably in his Iliad I don't want to recap episode to thoroughly. So if that sounds interesting to you, I suggest you just go listen to that episode, but I will say a few things necessary background Achilles some. Patrick lists here is off the Trojan War, our break episode which depicted in the Iliad although there is genuinely some ambiguity as to the exact nature of their relationship in the Iliad their relationship is very intense and very important to the plot character arcs and emotional hot of that poll. What is not ambiguous is how their relationship is on the stood in the later Greek texts we discussed. So we discussed east glosses. Play the domes which survives only in fragments famous speech impetus symposium, Ace, Kaz courtroom speech against to Marcus all of which depict achilleas and Patrick lows in a sexual and romantic relationship. As we discussed earlier episode, those works stand relationship in a way that is anachronistic to the Iliad, but we nevertheless thought it was important to note that is reading is a very old an integral part of the evolution of the myth. That you can't really get away from if you're talking about them today speaking of the evolution of this myth, we also spent a bit of time talking about how although people generally appeal to Hermosa when discussing whether Achilles in Patrick Louis Wet. Really love this. Is True one canonical version of the myths in which they feature, and we would be doing them a disservice to understand as early as the real story and every following version as accurate or inaccurate by how it compares to that. I bring this up because it's very easy to find audibles and people talking about how modern adaptations on any good because then not accurate and these articles that generally quiet nitpicky and lazy, and I wanted to know this specifically. So we don't do that sort of thing ourselves. It's inevitable and desirable when adapting these myths into new mediums and feel like very different cultures than the original. That heard this man to make changes just it's necessary to on Seoul's materials while doing. So so we got a comment on differences here, but the compensation will be more like why those changes get made and do we think it works as opposed to just being like well in the Ilia? Data. So with that background out of the way, we're going to talk about Wolfgang Petersen's two thousand four, maybe Troy Madeline Milas to eleven novel the Sung Achilles and the twentieth eighteen BBC mini series story full of the city I think he ranked in the order of like worst to best in my opinion but okay, you may disagree. That was not why I decided to order them. In that way I just thought we'd chronologically but that's fine. I mean now that you said that you did it chronologically and I also view that as West best that makes me feel positive that maybe like an even better adaptation that I genuinely think is good it's coming to clear I don't love any of the music specifically. In seven years but will like no. Sorry in five years because they've come out every seven years how to for two thousand eleven two thousand eighteen. Cool. Okay. Nice. So. We'll be watching an amazing adaptation, the Trojan War with that we will love anyway. So we're going to begin with the to troy maybe the film for it was directed by Wolfgang, pay the send styles Brad Pitt Kilis who just a very two thousand thing to have. It was written by then relative newcomer David Benny off which explains why it's a bit of a dry run, the game of thrones. I that sounds up its vibe. I, was gonNA. Tell you some fun facts about this movie but I decided that they weren't that fun. I cut them all but I'm GONNA I kept one which I tell you solely because it might make you upset Australian. Fun Fact No it's not. So all of the actors in this speak in that accents with the exception of Eric Bana Rosebud, the to Australian actress who had told that they had to get rid of their accents. And I think that's disgusting screw you. Wolfgang. Petersen. I have no problem with like. Okay. You have to change accidents that doesn't sound like a fantasy will like I've whatever accent I have a problem with that and I mean like this some stuff to say about that. But if doing that because you want all your actors to have a consistent accent. Okay. But if you just hate the way Australians, tall, that's not acceptable. Garrett hedlund obvious American accent fine. But Eric Basil accent is absolutely illegal. Sorry. Thinking recompense the twenty twenty, five trae. Offers how the TROJANS are all. Star. I like it. Yeah. The film was commercially quite successful but received mixed reviews, which is frankly claimed more than it does those because it's a bad movie. I tried to watch this movie just like you know throughout my life. I've tried to watch this movie like three or four times. I've sat down in front of this film I've got like twenty minutes and I just can't do it. So. That's where I met with this. Okay Jason Do WanNA disagree and say it's a good movie. Nor I will say that like I don't think it's the worst movie like suddenly I watched this movie as a kid when it came out had no problems with a had some fun fight seines cool choreography some big actors doing fun things than having fun. I didn't really mind it and obviously now watching it I think it has some quite severe problems both as a movie analyzer adaptation I would certainly agree that it's the west of the three adaptations that we're GonNa talk about today. But then again, this is the point cost queers fact and it's not

There's a lot coming a lot of original movies. A lot of original series. Give you some. Let's do a headline. Yeah. Okay. Well, if you're looking for something with big name talent, I can give you some. Movies that have some A-List stars? For example. There's this action film called triple frontier. Ben Affleck's in it. Oscar Isaac Senate, Charlie Hunnam Garrett. Hedlund Petra Pasco another movie with big names is the highway men. That's starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. Both of these movies are coming to Netflix in March and also getting theatrical releases kind of like they did with three weeks. I don't yet know the full theatrical these plans, right? So I don't know if they're going to do the same exact plan as Roma, but they are doing a theatrical release some other things we have coming up. Our new seasons of shows. You might remember. For example, queer eye is coming back for a third season. The show arrested development has more episodes coming. Something else that I'm interested in checking out are some comedy specials, including one from Amy Schumer. She has one called growing, which I think is a reference to her growing family and her growing belly she's pregnant she she got married. She's going to be talking about that. She had an athlete special a couple of years ago. That was a little controversial talked a lot about sex. But she's back with this new one. She has a billboard on Sunset Boulevard. To promote the special. So you already knew why news new she had to billboard. What's the last? Great thing you saw on that flex. I finally watched Roma. So I I saw it on the couch on the TV I know everyone here in L A. I don't know if he overheard this conversation dozens of time if you're gonna see Roma see it on a big screen. I get that. Would I say it's my favorite movie of the year? No, it was my favorite movie of the year. Did I watch it and truly appreciate? Director genius who pulled from his own childhood experience and produce something beautiful. Yes. Did I get a little sleepy? Sure. Okay. Well, this podcast episode is going to run the day after the Oscars. We're recording it before the Oscars, and since you mentioned your favorite movie there. I gotta ask what was it? I don't know if I have a favor of the the first one that comes to mind is a movie called free solo. This is a movie that's up for best documentary, photography, probably. And I think a few other awards. Is is the story of a climber. Alex hulled and his free solo. Meaning he climbed without ropes. Yeah. In Yosemite, and not only is it a compelling story. Just on paper about someone who just decides to have this outrageous dream and against all odds. Go for it, but visually it is unbelievable because they have shots, you know, above him below him. The the people who shot this are professional climbers work through some me. Well, I wouldn't say that he's climbing there climbing. Yeah. But they had separate tracks. And they were on Rove's, but they're carrying heavy equipment, and they have to climb. So it is beautiful. This is something. I would see an Athenian. Okay. My pick would be BG. Oh, yeah. Ginsburg was just incredible to watch that on a plane recently. Okay. I saw Peter. Can you believe it? I've believe it. Yeah. In port Townsend, Washington. So Carly Malibu from USA today. The advertising to aim to quote, create an advocacy campaign for constituents who are being lost and the dialogue. Acreage President George Jones said Super Bowl airtime would have been. Best way to achieve this. He added vote it's hard to compete with the amount of attention. Something gets airs during the Super Bowl, very true. And then like, the buzz afterward wrote CBS didn't immediately replied requests for comment on Monday because it was a federal holiday or because they just heard dodging questions writing. Also, like do they have to explain themselves? CBS a publicly traded company. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I I'm surely could explain themselves, which is that like, you know, it's too controversial watch exactly. I don't know. I don't know where I fall on on the issue on the medical marijuana issue. I stand firmly in the middle because I don't smoke weed. I don't care about other people who smoked meat as long as you don't do it in my face in my apartment or like make it smell in my house. I really don't care. So I'm not going to let go to bat for either side, and like make people upset when I don't really care..
