"Carry a bolt of your back looking good. I mean it just sets up perfectly to run the ball backup quarterback you're already depleted wide receiver. You don't have as many weapons there. Your offensive line. They're doing seems like they were doing better blocking the run than they were protecting the quarterback with With all the injuries they add so man it just it just set up perfectly to run the football on sunday. Yeah it did and greedy. Isn't going to be another test. Your the lingo wanted to keep. Keep j. watt from painting his ears back attacking nervous. If you're going to have running game tonight because if you're putting these guys since back past three times in a row t. J. watt is pointed to pad things to bobby massey to garrett bowles and to teddy bridgewater dangerous man on that side of it. What can we expect from the offensive line. Dalton reisner graham glass cow. Are they are. They expected to play on sunday. Golden reisner absolutely expected to play. I am one hundred percent counting on him to play. Just as well as i am with buddy grand glasco. He is definitely trending in the right direction. I think this is going to be game and more than right there. Practice every single day but his injury was a little more significant. So if not grants it's not but at least you have gone back man. They are preparing for a rokkas. Crowd is going to pittsburgh right. And here's the thing. This is a big game for the broncos to show that they can compete with the better teams in the league. But this is a monster. Game for pittsburgh three-game streak right now. They're went to at home if they dropped this game. I mean you can't come from one in four you can connect them two and three and if they picked up a win. That's they would be in desperate. As the broncos team the dealers are even more desperate which is scary part of this game..

"Encouraging thing is seeing it in a game but then knowing he's also done this against pro bowl players and ultra type of players in garrett bowles which is just so impressive so i think the broncos got an absolute steel and the seventh round and now you feel so good about your backup outside linebackers with me read and jonathan cooper and it does make you think about the future. Okay maybe instead of paying von big pride money and bradley big time money. The combination of jonathan cooper me read can be enough to replace one of those guys no question about it. the depth there. We've been concerned about ever. Since really they moved on or shaq moved on of course but that would be nice right to have that. Backup their last one for you. Josh watson. we asked that question. See former ceus you ram covering a lot of rams here Kind of a bummer. To see him waived. Yeah it really was and i was the big josh watson. Fan going back to see us. You and i thought he actually has performed. Pretty darn well with the broncos. He hasn't got much playing time on defense but when he's been out there i've liked what i've seen. I thought he was a good special teams player. I i didn't expect him to make this roster. But i expected him to last one more week and then make the practice squad but it does not appear that that's going to happen man. There's a law we could talk about but this until we get this quarterback thing figured out Fortunately or unfortunately that's going to dominate. And that's just the way it is but we appreciate you wrong with the punches with us as always my friend and we'll be following that twitter to see when it is you step into the to the next big media conference to find out who the starting quarterback will be for the twenty twenty one campaign three forty five grady today. Expect the big stuff to go down. I'm writing it down. I don't care if i'm in a meeting. I don't care what i'm doing i am going to stop and see what you're up to. My friends at capriccio always right on brady. Thank you all right. Man zak stevens. Dnv our broncos. I mean yeah if if you want me to read the tea leaves all read. The tea leaves for your colefax based on what we're hearing and adding in saturday listen. I'm not taking anything away from teddy. I'm really not. He looked sharp. "Want everything. I want all the meatballs and pasta. Have you friday broncos country. It's always a football friday. Every friday here on the broncos daily podcast but with football practice in full swing. It truly is a football friday. I could pull my notes and go through the highlights of the day and there were a few to try to keep score the quarterback competition. But i can just give you the overall consensus and save everybody. Some time drew lock definitely had a few more wild plays teddy bridgewater kind of even things up. Teddy just doesn't missed too often at the same time. It doesn't take chances down the field so we'll see how things go next week. When they're in pads and they ratchet up the pressure coming off the edges and stuff and certainly when the first team oh line is in there or whatever the first team online looks like you just garrett bowles as the as the barometer garrett bowles and and you know reisner and graham glasgow and cushioned baron. There that's considered the first team. Oh line the receiver cycle through And that gives you guys working with all the different pass catchers but all things being equal. I think lock had a little bit better day. That people tell me that they thought it was more tied today. And if you're keeping score at home that's kinda one one one. If you call today a tie. And i had one person in the building that just going to be good enough for drew. Lock to win it because you know you're going to have with teddy and think so much of this defense that it won't matter drew. Lock upside if he can't have enough consistency the consistency. That teddy has even. When it's underneath yesterday stretches a field. He had a beautiful pass. In seven. On seven to k j hamblur. You can see that It's out on social media the play of the day. And the broncos posted the video of it if i'm not mistaken and so that looked good and j. Judy just looks good whenever he has the ball in his hands in fact let's hear vic fangio before we get to george story in just a few minutes hour we're gonna hear from no offence dalton rising as well but here's vanja when i him about jerry judean how he looks in your to cause for more standing. He looks really damn good. He's a lot more polished than better more prepared to play right now than he was last year knows the game. Better got a ville. What the nfl. Football's the lake making the adjustment from college. The pro you know. He had limited time to do that last year. No preseason games and he had an up and down rookie year some great moments bad moments and i think those have really helped shaped him and he's had a really good off season and it's carried over to camp whether it's.

"You're gonna have a certain segment of fan base. That's gonna be upset, no matter what if they if they fired John Elway if they don't fire John Elway, if they bring in a new guy, he's a puppet. If it's if they don't get a quarterback his team wants to lose. If they do get a quarterback, it's the wrong one. They spent too much. It's all spurred on by hot, take radio guy. They all they come a craft these ridiculous narratives. None of them ever make any sense, but they get people to buy into it. And then you know, we go on and we have to dispel that misinformation that they You know, they put out one of my favorites was for last 13 or four years or whatever hot take radio's been telling us how bad John Elway socks right there. John always talks. You can't draft teams. Terrible. La blah, blah. We got a fire. We got fired, right? And so now they're trying to convince us that we need to go out. Get shot, Watson, Right, Which is not gonna help me. Just tell you it's not gonna happen, but they're telling you that and the shot would totally want to come here because it's a stack roster that's ready to go. Well, which one is it? Pick a lane. You know, I take radio out of one side of them out there telling you always sucked. It couldn't draft now the other side their mouth and tell you the team is stocked with talent. So it Z what people get for listen told us this is garbage out there. That's that's why I love the fact that we do and informative show that's entertaining. And the information in the fax come first, and the entertainment just happens to be. Ah, part of it right. I find you very entertaining. I appreciate that. So what were some of your general takeaways from the press conference today? It sort of seemed like it lined up with a lot of the things we've been kind of telling people a little bit. On this show for a while. They can't see my face right now at the house, But I am definitely doing the the open eyes condescending. Look over my nose. Kind of look right now. Yeah way. Told you kind of what The plan was on this show. Well, we're not just talking just to hear ourselves talk, You know, like we're here to be a condo with the information you guys and you might not like what it is that That I'm saying you might not agree with why they're going about doing it. But we're going to give you the what they're doing portion of it, and we we've done that. We did it last year with everybody else. You know, when tackle bro was talking about taking an offensive tackle in the first round, we were telling you they were going receiver and probably going receiver twice. And, uh, you know, early in the top 100, they were definitely gonna go receiver twice and sure enough, they did. Um, you know, and then that officer tackling a priority that they'd see movement out of Gary poles, and he liked what they saw. Everybody else was telling us that they need a punk Garrett Bowles and were saying decided, you know so.

"Twenty minutes after the hour. Welcome back to the show. We're live from the collision specialist videos. We're we're toying with this stream idea here we're testing out today. Colefax and the one thing that has told me man. I definitely need a tan. I need. I need to tanit out a little bit I don't know if i don't tan though. I'm either like really really pasty white. Or i am read. So there's really no happy medium for me. Zak stevens joining the program from dvr broncos that my man what a season. There's so many questions. I i don't even know where to begin. Let's begin with the most obvious. All the future of drew lock. What what does this look like the test. What was his grade for the season. That was no boy. That is the million dollar question and great to talk to your brady and if you need to. You might as well just hop on the plane with garrett bowles tomorrow he said at the mexico. Hey that's what that's got to be the biggest story right garrett bowles i mean he was the joke of the organization and i'm not i'm not trying to be mean or anything but that was the case. Everybody had their valentine's day. I just want someone to hold me the way. Garrett bowles holds people. You know there was all those jokes and now garrett bowles is like the best player on the team yeah legitimately. He's the mvp of the denver broncos offense. How crazy is that now million dollar man and brady just eight months ago. The broncos said we are going to decline your fifth year option. Because we don't want you back for a fifth year. We don't even want to Barring injury the broncos were only going to be guaranteeing that money if he got injured and they said no we don't want than they turned around a couple of months later paid sixty eight million dollars not a bad year for him such. That's a special story because this is a guy that's ios down on his luck. He's wondering you know going to be. Is he going to not just be a bust. Is he going to be a left tackle in the nfl. Is you're going to be a starting left tackle and now like you said. He's the best player on this offense and he's going to be one of those pieces needed for whether that's drew lock. Whether that's player to be named later. I i go back and forth on this man i mean. I think you tweeted it yesterday. Broncos lose drew lock had a decent game kind of best case scenario. Yeah exactly. Because i mean if if the broncos would have had another shelby hair in this case dream aunt joan's tip pass on the two-point conversion last year shelby. That just would have not the broncos out of the top ten in draft positioning. It would made last night a little easier for broncos fans but in reality the best thing for the broncos was to lose yesterday and the best thing for the broncos long-term is for drew. Lock to be that guy and you know what yesterday. He had one of his best games of his career. And what i liked about him was. He passed the i test yesterday and look like he was comfortable. Look like he was confident And being an nfl quarterback. And so i liked the strides that he took in yesterday's game. But brady where we are with you right now is if you like drew. There's enough things you can point to including last night's game the first game by the way that he did not have a turnover since week one. That is incredible and you can just look at that stat and the people that liked drew can say well look progress at the end of the season but people that don't like you could say but what was happening in between week one week. Seventeen there and that's where we are withdrew if you want to believe in drew. There's enough things you can point to to say. It's worth giving him another shot now. Was this you're good enough. Of course not no. I mean the great has to be below a I was not a passing grade for drew this year. He was statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the league And now the so people people that don't want to believe in him can say that point to the numbers and say sixteen touchdowns. Fifteen interceptions is inexcusable. But the people that like drew. I want to believe in him can say well. He made progress and at the end of the season. He was showing that he was a little more comfortable ended on seven touchdowns two interceptions in the final four games of the season if that is extended over sixteen game period. That's twenty eight touchdowns eight interceptions that will win in the nfl. So this is gonna come down to john elway seeing if there's a better peace out there and if not then. I don't think he's gonna go quarterback in the first round. I think it's either going to be an experienced veteran coming in. That can win right now. Or he's just gonna roll withdrew again and really build up this idea of continuity. That's spreading throughout the broncos organization. When you look at drew lock you. Okay these great quarterbacks. Even just good quarterbacks in the nfl they'll have something they have something that defines them as a difference maker in this league. Maybe it's a cannon arm. Maybe it's the ability to escape the pocket. Maybe it's lamar jackson. Just running ninety percent of the time they have something. I guess when i look at this again. I don't evaluate these guys from a from a real perspective. I sit in a little room here and do it. What is it about drew lock. What is it that he has. That makes you go all right. He's going to have this factor at some point. That's going to be able to win us football games but really funny about question. That's a great question. Brady is drew one at that so badly to be that he was a gunslinger. That's what he wanted his identity and the nfl to be out of college. That's what he wanted it to be just a year ago. That's what he wanted to be and he found out the very difficult way this year that you can't do that. Especially after the raiders game when he threw four interceptions when they played in vegas. He said that he he looked himself in the mirror and said i can't do this if i want to be an. Nfl quarterback so to be honest with you brady. We don't know because drew lock doesn't know exactly what he wants his identity to be. The offense started looking a little better at down the stretch of the season. But still i think we had. I think it was noah fant today said we need to find our identity on offense and so that's something that we don't know withdrew. He does have a strong arm when he's had success yet to necessarily been using that arm. He's just been making check downs and really good decisions these past couple of game. So we're still waiting to find it find that out. Is there any indication to you that the broncos will go elsewhere outside of drew lock. I mean i like our strong feeling and we know it's primarily going to be john elway on that side of things are they. Are they going to look. I know you probably said no on the draft but do you think that they really try and try to put some kind of packages together for one of these top tier quarterbacks where team might just be ready to move on or do you think. Hey we're going to stay the course here one more year maybe bringing vet but not a guy that's like on paper looking starter if we're talking about a new quarterback in denver. I think it's going to be a big name veteran. The guy to really keep your eye on is matthew stafford. If he becomes available. I think the broncos can say okay. The progress through the end of the season was good. But you know what we still know. He has to take three or four steps to become a great quarterback in this league. If we can get a great quarterback now especially with john elway on the last year of his deal that that would not surprise me so keep an eye out for matthew stafford and what the the lions do head coach and general manager will be keeper that because matthew stafford is a guy that the lions could roll with. He's still fairly young for being a quarterback still could have at least five more years left so they could roll with him or they could say we have the seventh overall pick. We wanna get Justin field jack wilson and go go that direction But outside of matthew stafford. I do see it. Being just giving drew the benefit of the doubt of this season and saying we've seen enough growth It'll be interesting to see how that one rolls. What else jerry. Jeudy talk right. The broncos landed on a huge draft pick. And you saw what he can do. We've seen new spurts yesterday. He gets that like he just out runs everybody. But what did we really learn about jerry. Jeudy i mean are. Should we be a bit concerned. The broncos have not had the absolute best time when it comes to first round picks. Bradley chubs been good. I won't take that away. But i don't know that he's living up to the potential that a five guy goes through. Especially because you see josh allen that's always going to be like tagged to him. Where are we at with jerry. Jeudy there was controversy on twitter side. To how.

"It's impressive. They didn't have to do that. And i think we're all hopeful that he can continue this trajectory. You brought it up. We've talked about it before. Mike month though a big a big. Maybe a big stabiliser for bowls. I don't think anybody argued his athletic ability as a left tackle. He's a monster of a man. He can move guys around and he's fairly fast. He very fairly quick for for a left tackle but getting mike month check involved really helped. I think gables terminology just learning more about the game. How important is that going to be for the broncos for the duration of garibaldi contract. To make sure they have mike much actor in the as the offensive line coach. Oh crucial absolutely crucial. The only way that you can lose. Mike moustakas if he becomes a head coach. Anything else you. Can't you have to make sure that he stays around and heck. Let's say the broncos do go a different direction for vic fangio. They made nyc check maybe on top of that list. I mean that's it. You wouldn't be doing that just to keep garrett bowles playing well but i mean look at you brought in mike month check To to potentially be a head coach and he came in as the runner up. And then you paid a lot of money to be your offensive line coach because he was a miracle worker on the offensive line. That's what we heard and saw it. Both of his stops in the nfl before coming to the broncos. And what's he done. I mean pretty much birthday miracle by turning garrett bowles into a guy that was consistently booed every week into a seventeen million dollar left tackle and so not just for garrett bowles but lloyd cushenberry has struggled this year with a year or two under mike munch can he turn into a good center adult and reisner. Can he take that next step. And then john james what what can john. James b You know win healthy win. He's playing and if the broncos stick with him they're going to stick with them next year but what type of tackle could he because he has all the physical tools. What could he be if he's able to have a similar effect under mike much ex. You're exactly right because if you look at the potential now and this is crazy because we didn't feel this way for the last several years you look at the potential now of this offensive line and garrett bowles is playing great left tackle dalton risers still only in his second year and it's been a weird year at that so you think he's got to get better center position. Hey start. i'll start a rookie. And just i'm just going to bank on them. Being a little bit better the next season. And then you've got your right guard situation right tackle. Suddenly you look at and say this offensive line could be a big time strength for denver. Going forward yeah. And that's what it should be because the resources have been put in for it to be that you know you use the second round. Pick a third round pick And then garrett bowles now seventeen million dollar first round right to left tackle You're paying thirteen million for your right. Tackle eleven million for your right guard. So it's not like john elway has avoided the position. I know he did Many years ago but not anymore. And then also mike munch at one of the highest paid assistant coach in the league as well so the investment has been there. It really is about time that the product on the field reflects that zak stevens joining us from. Dnv are broncos. isak so how. How does this lie again. I know you're going through the zoom meetings and everything but your gauge through talking to players and coaches..

"Let's talk about. I think good news you just heard from garrett bowles who just re-signed with the broncos which maybe under the table a little bit this weekend. The broncos pulled that trigger. I don't know if you call it a gamble but garrett bowles has got to be pretty happy with this new deal. One of the highest paying left tax paid left. Tackle leave now. Oh he's thrilled and thanks for having me on the craziest thing about this is this story would have been national headlines and certainly what have dominated denver this weekend in pretty much every circumstance but one. But you're absolutely right. i mean what. What an incredible story and incredible turnaround for garrett bowles. Because they didn't just happen over a couple of years. He really dug himself a hole over the past three years. Where you have fans booing him. Nearly every single home game. You have john elway publicly calling him out last year. The broncos decline his fifth year option just earlier this year. And now he's the fourth highest payed left tackle in the nfl for the next four years with the broncos making seventeen million dollars a year really an incredible story and it. It's because he's been the best left tackle in the nfl for the first eleven games of the season. Okay so i i agree. It's an amazing story. Good for him. I love redemption stories. That's a sports is all about. Are you nervous at broncos country. Be a little nervous amine. Yes it gets first part of his career and if this year's any indication he's gonna be the best left tackle in the league perhaps But are we still a little nervous about going forward with garrett bowles with that left tackle spot here. I can't tell fans not to be nervous about that. Because it the sample size right is more concerning than would be He only has ten games of really good play of consistent. Good play under his belt from what we've seen so yeah. I think.

Well the new orleans saints are good you know with or without drew brees. This is a good football team especially on the defensive side of the ball. They are third in the nfl in yards per game and they amazing and getting after after the quarterback. I mean this is just one of those teams. You gotta be careful with man. They're they're they're they're awesome and you can't. You can't screw up. You can't have fumbles that are going to ultimately lead to touch that you have to play pro perfect football if you want to have a shot at beating this team trey hendrickson has nine and a half sacks this team collectively has thirty two sacks they They get after the quarterback. It is going to be a very long day for this broncos offensive line ally seems to be getting better i mean garrett bowles is one of the biggest stories in the. Nfl does the comeback player of the of the year. That does that award. Only go to guys that. Come back from an injury. Because i mean again. Alex smith is going to get that but garrett bowles talk about a comeback sports illustrated story on him. Just about how how he stayed committed and he kind of had like an epiphany of how to be a better left tackle. Just don't hold man. You're a gifted athlete. You really are. But they're gonna have their work cut out for him against this against this ridiculous defense. i mean they. They're good against the past their great against the run. I mean they're they're broncos. Defense is better than the saints. As far as against the past but running the ball against them is going to be tough. So what do you do. If you're pat shurmur now now you have every excuse not to run the ball. They only give up seventy four yards per game on the ground. The bucks are the only team better. They allow twenty two points per game up there in the top five. So yeah you. Do you stay committed to that ron. I'm very curious to see you saw what you do when you run the ball. Well it opens up this entire offense. It gives drew lock. More confidence gives your defense a chance to take a break but do you even at new attempted..

"Three one nine nine six when you look at the history of the Denver broncos draft and really really going back to. You know what John Elway has done with this team. I you could take some positives out of it but really to so two thousand eleven. That's when John elway takes over this team they draft von Miller. I get it. It was a Gimme he was. They're number. They're the second overall pick and they picked von Miller. Well that obviously landed you look down the list though at that year. Two thousand eleven. And I'm going with we're GONNA do some deep research here just looking at this. At the guys that worked out Rahim Moore was the next pick. He was in the Second Round. Pick number forty five. Well I would say more worked out. But he's also known for one of the most miserable broncos. Mary's Thomas One of the most positive moments in broncos history where he more will forever be etched in that Baltimore Ravens broncos game where the ball soars over his head and next thing. You know this this Ravens team is winning this football game and overtime. So that's always going to be a attached to his name Orlando Franklin also in the second round the very next pick for the broncos. He obviously put together some great years for Denver. You go down Nater Irving. Okay Quinton Carter okay. Julius Thomas Basketball player turned football player. That say he worked out. Pretty good for the broncos twenty four hundred yards in just a few seasons for Denver. Thirty six touchdowns I mean that was during that. Peyton manning time when they had a plethora of weapons Mike. Muhammed Virgil Green. And necessarily where Jeremy Bill? So you got two or three guys. That kinda worked out the next year you C- Derek Wolfe Broncos didn't have a first round where they pick Derek Wolfe. Brock osweiler was in that draft. Ronnie Hillman didn't work out. Maliki Jackson Danny Trevathan. So so some of these guys were a part of that Super Bowl when you look at it. Brock Osweiler was a big piece to getting to the superbowl that year. Derek Wolfe obviously a huge piece to that Super Bowl and their success Malaysia. Accident Trevathan so two thousand twelve wasn't terrible. Four of the seven picks that year. They for those guys really contributed to the Bra in order for the Broncos to get to that next level to get to the super bowl the next year semester Williams cave on webster saw those guys. I mean Sylvester. Even though it wasn't maybe the the big Joe he was a first. Rounder didn't live up to those expectations in the first round. Kind of a bust. But he was part of that. Super Bowl. Year wasn't a great draft here that year though two thousand thirteen fourteen was tough because you had Bradley. Roby Cody Latimer. First and second round roby worked out as a nickel and dime but as soon as keep Toledo was gone and they tried to put more. Robie at the number two spot. It didn't work out for him so it's unfair to say. He was a buzzed. He was a part of that. No fly zone really made nowadays. Man Teams are drafting nickel and dime bags like crazy teams. Want to have three solid cornerbacks. It's no longer one really good one one pretty good one one okay. Teams are really trying to build that. In fact VIC FANGIO wants to run more nickel and dime so I would say Bradley Roby was not a bust. He just didn't work out when he moved from the nickel and dime slots to that second. Second Corner Cody Latimer. He didn't work out. Scofield I mean. He was on the starting lineup for quite a while. Matt Paradis Corey Nelson. You look at two thousand fifteen. That was a weird year. Mean Yeah that one basically failed two thousand fifteen was rough. Shane. Ray gets busted because there's marijuana and his back seat Shane. Ray supposed to be a top ten. Pick well because of that and that was like a night or two before the draft so teams backed away. He falls to number. Three Denver takes him but he didn't work out Thais umbrella year or two with Denver didn't form CS. You didn't work out. Jeff Hier men still waiting on that. He has had injuries the whole bay most of his career only five touchdowns in his couple of seasons. It's Max Garcia Trevor. Simian was a part of that dress. So two thousand. Fifteen for the most part yeah. That was a wasted draft that nobody really worked. Out during that draft season. Two Thousand Sixteen big time bust except for Justin Simmons. That was that pick in the third round. So you are still. You're finding nuggets here of guys that are working on now. We're getting better as we progress here. The last couple of drafts have been very good. But Paxton Lynch will will decorate that draft here. Here's the bad thing when you can list off all these names you can look at all these names and talk about who worked out. Who didn't but the bottom line is is. You can almost take every every draft class has somewhat of a story to it and you go okay. Well Two thousand eleven that was always i. Von Miller came out of that. That was great. So you that's what you're gonNA take. Do you have a player that you remembered for in that draft and unfortunately I think we remember and focus more on the bus von Miller the second year Derek Wolfe Year while they didn't have a first round. Pick so you don't think about it as much third year. They drafted D. Tackle wasn't sexy and it didn't work. But then you then you move on and obviously to hasn't sixteen will forever remember when the broncos picked Paxton Lynch number twenty six that's GonNa make that year rough even though they got Justin Simmons out of that deal Connor McGovern a guy. That was a part of that line for the longest time. You know then two thousand seventeen. Who did they take in the first round there Garrett Bowles that's going to hurt now that was a bad draft class as well however the last two it does seem like always getting Bradley. Chubb Cortlandt Sutton Royce Freeman. This is eighteen. Isaac Yatom though all those top four picks for the broncos in two thousand eighteen. Are I mean Adam right now is considered a starter? He's number two but Royce Freeman third running back now. They had the opportunity to Belvin Gordon but Bryce is still there. Coralline sudden elite Bradley Chubb Elite. He got hurt last year but still very much a top player and then of course this last season you see Noah Fan Dalton Reisner drew. Lock those three guys right. They're nice pickup. I'm waiting to see if Trayvon Jones works out. They list him as a D. Tackle the end but I still think that I mean. They're hopeful that he can take that next step to going forward. That's the guy we haven't even talked about when we really look at this depth chart so I think it's fair to say when you look at the broncos drafting the last couple of seasons. They're getting better now. We don't that's the thing you can gray drafts till you're blue in the face but you don't we don't we can't really assess two thousand seventeen two thousand eighteen thousand nineteen we won't be able to assess those untold three two three years later. That's how it goes. But so far based on two years I would say the two thousand eighteen draft class is highlighted by Bradley Chubb and Portland Sutton in those are the things that you talk about two thousand seventeen. Yeah we're starting to get to that point now where we can go back and assess it. That was highlighted by Garrett. Bowles Chad Kelly was that pick number two hundred and fifty three and we all know how that worked out. The Angela Henderson. Didn't really work out. Carla Henderson I mean you just waited for some of these guys to get going. I text three one nine nine six three one nine nine six certainly more negatives for John Elway when you look at the body of work with all of these picks however you do see a Lotta guys that are starting to stick out starting to make a name for themselves. I mean no offense. Dalton Reisner drew lock those those first three picks last season. They're all three starters. And although fan was okay forty receptions four or five hundred sixty two yards in his rookie season. That's not bad so you take your kind of okay with it. Well drew lock is kind of at least right now on this sixteen. Th Day of April were saying. He's the future of at the quarterback position and after five games. We all feel very confident and comfortable saying that. I think we do now. We'll see what happens next year. The next year is such a huge test for so many different players talking about storylines. Two Thousand Twenty is going to be jam packed full of them for the Broncos. And right now you can say that was a pretty good draft class so far so good Bradley Chubb. We need to see you healthy. See if you can get put together another ten plus tax season if you can do that then von Miller is probably going to be right around there but I think we all like Portland son so the good news is that maybe John elway starting to surround himself with people that can help him navigate through these drafts and it does take time. I mean Yeah. I Know Brady. He's been given a lot of time more time than most well. That is what it is the only thing you can look at it now. I like Colfax has been saying since day one well since day. One for hiring VIC FANGIO is. Here's your your in this process. Now you've hired Fangio. You drafted your quarterback your starting to build that lineup. You still have von Miller. You've drafted up some nice pieces like Bradley. Chubb and UNDRAFTED Philip Lindsay. You started to build up those pieces now. You gotta see it through. This is where we are. It's time to see this through so we'll talk more about that coming up a little bit later on on the draft side of things. The draft is next week man. I'm very excited to get to. That can't wait to see what happens. With the broncos Had Somewhat propose this to me if somebody were to. Let's say let's say Henry Rugs is available fifteen which I don't see that happening. But let's say he's available fifteen. And the Broncos are offered to move back into the mid twenty s but to take to swap first round picks but they are gifted first round pick next season. When I take that yes I would. Because I'm I'm looking at the fact that you can. You can basically say all right. Well we'RE WE'RE GONNA move back. We'll we'll not take Henry Rug but I'm going to get a draft pick for next year but my biggest need is a cornerback. Now I love Henry Rugs but if somebody's willing to swap first round and give me a first round pick the next year. I'm good with that because I still think my biggest need is cornerback this year and I think Fulton's going to drift to twenties. Maybe he could. We'll see but you also have Henderson of Florida. Who I think is a decent enough running. Back cornerback especially in that mid first round thirty minutes after the hour. Get your thoughts on that power to play. Sports poll question of the day. Should the broncos look to bring? Damascus? Thomas back into the fold. We'll talk about that next..

broncos von Miller John Elway Derek Wolfe Denver broncos Bradley Chubb Bradley Denver Bradley Roby Roby Cody Latimer VIC FANGIO Maliki Jackson Danny Trevathan Justin Simmons Garrett Bowles Bradley Chubb Elite Rahim Moore Brock osweiler Angela Henderson Thomas One

"His eyes are wandering. Is it moving around back there man? Yeah it's getting happen. I don't know what is going on here. It's it's taken over man. You Got Fifteen minutes here to kill me. Run away come on. We need to call like an animal person. Come on Hogan's where you give US A. It's not a lighter. Heard that several times it's not it's not a tiger. Don't think although maybe there is a wildlife sanctuary. It's possible could have escaped and here they are Dixon. Says I love. Of course you do of course chiefs. Yeah No I. I don't know that I'm there yet. Brady what he was most penalized guy. You've got bigger needs right now. You did improve your offensive line a little bit and the whole. I mean one of the major reasons you need much more than anything was the healthcare bowl. So you're going to say that after one year. That's it one year. You don't think that they can work together. You don't think that he can grow his game mentally. Because that's where it needs to grow. There's no doubt bowls has to learn the game better like this is not not putting aside any of his issues from the last two years. They're all bad. He's terrible physically really really gifted. But isn't this. Why you bring in great position coaches to help guys like Garrett Bowles take the next step learn to be better mentally watching film assessing. There was a time last year we got called for like three holding calls pretty pretty close together and I was asking myself watching the game. I'm like does he know what holding is. I hate to be that guy. 'cause I'm never going to question a professional athlete on what they know or don't know but I finally got there because he was flat out hugging a guy almost locked at the wrist. You know when you go into that deep hug and you pull off the lock there that's what Garrett Bowles was doing and then he'd look back at the rafts like what I don't know what I did. I didn't do anything and you're like no dude. You were like wrapped around him so can much help that or is he too far gone. I'm going to stay positive on this one because again. I don't think the Broncos that's that's a severe need at least at first round. Can you draft his replacement in a later round absolutely and then you with Mike Check again? He's working with them. So we'll see but I for my money. Man I'm saying Christian Fulton Pretty Pretty confident that pick because I do think he drops to fifteen. I think he's kind of around. Fifteen eighteen maybe twenty kind of guy. But you don't let him go. Because that's your biggest need person text line three one nine nine six three one nine six. "So the offensive line. We we hope Garrett Bowles is gonna take a step for he needs to take a step four can't have nine holding penalties again for third straight year for John James you draft adult reisner, he's already having a fingerprint on this. Because I don't think you're doing those moves without at least and understand the mic. Check is happy about having those guys here. But again, he's he's inheriting Connor McGovern. He's inheriting Ron leery because of the contract, and you just wonder, and of course, Garrett Bowles so you just wonder how much of it can be done in a year or done before the start of this year. Well, I don't think you're gonna talk about it being an elite croup in Pittsburgh. For example. He inherited a group that was for decades second worst and sack right now. Now in the years that followed they became second best with the same quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. So that's testament of how he can get long term improvement. They improved substantially in year one. But they're lying. Play was better in two thousand fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen than it was that first year. I think if monk check can get this group to average maybe even a tick above if you're ranking the online say around fourteenth in the league, if he does that then that's a farsight better than you've been since Peyton Manning walked out that door to maintain its just to look to improvement year two years. They're gonna be better than it was last year. I think he answered that is probably yes, we, you know, you can look at you. Don't need a great Senator win in the NFL. You go around look in the last three centers on super winning teams where they rank and their team in terms of, you know, overall need and talent. But I think don't reisner gear bulls eye bulls. Head a really good stretch last year mid season, right? Did before Ron Leary when Ron Lurie went down. That's when it really all kind of developed for him. But you know, what there is a moment there where he t took his level of play to a higher level with even even with other injuries. So they remember they were bringing in tackles to run the gore turnaround. We're all like, oh, boy, this is going to be a disaster. And yet it some they won games worked worked there for a little bit of interestingly teams of things out there best game after all those injuries. Was that first game where they was after max Garcia went out, and you had to throw Wilkinson there, and you really kinda caught them off guard. And then the games that followed Pittsburgh Cincinnati started kind of figuring out what Elijah was doing. But you're right Garrett Bowles had that stretch before Ron Louis went down. He was playing well and even over the course of the year his pressure rate went drops of St. improved substantially from his rookie season. You've got to find a way to get him to avoid making that unnecessary grab. And it's not just one. He's beat some of the grabs. Come you know, when he's doing his job in run blocking? He gotta get that out of his game. But in terms of allowing pressure got much better last year. Can you take the next step forward? That's all among check. And that's the main thing to with last year's setup. You couldn't afford holding penalty because you can't put case keenum behind the change. You can't put it behind schedule. He's not capable of getting you out of that. Joe? Flacco is one of the quotes that I talked to a coach on the Broncos right after that that went down. And he said, look, we love case, you know, we we love Casey's leader. We love them. We like him as a guy. Joe flacco forces you to defend every blade of grass on the field. And case keenum, just doesn't you know in the end. And and that's really what it is. You know? Now, you have your defense has to be honest in defensing Joe flacco won't also with receivers that you have like Tim Patrick in court when sought being able to get downfield and go against physical corners and winsome jump balls and draw some interference penalties get no hope of that member. The interception. The case keenum threw down towards the down towards pylon against the Browns. Yeah. Kill flacco has no problem. Making that throat keenum did not have enough zip on his ball right to make that lobbed up wounded ducks. And that's what we all expected to happen. It the moment it left his hand. I'm thinking, oh, no one back. And of course, all that. All that is great and the the expectations lungs Joe flacco is upright and healthy in that in that offense. If drew lock is forced into their how much do you have to adjust your offensive game plan? How much how much has to change because all the nice things said about Joe flacco. And I I'm I'm buying that stock. I also Simon cell. Tasty say it's a quarterback in drew lock that you are high on. I am I'm a little bit less. But it's also in part because I really want to see him take a year and learn why don't think you you scale back. I think if you put your lock in there, you add to drew has mobility that Joe didn't have you know, you might be able to add some some some wrinkles air. And you lies drew lock mobility is that a lot to put on his plate though. I mean, it's a young to what a quarterback plate. You're going to lose a little bit of the veteran savvy when you. Joe flacco and put your lock, and you're going to lose a guy who's had thousands of reps there and seeing what defenses can do. So there are things you may need to simplify out of the offense. But I think you can add more pieces to it. There are other wrinkles and other options things you can add to it. The drew can do the job. Can I don't think there's anything that? Joe flacco can do the drew flock drew can't from a physical standpoint physical this more of a mental part. Yeah. But that comes with Tyco's reps. You know, it comes with. But he also has the willingness to get in the playbook to get in the classroom and learn and put in the hours necessary to get the mental part down through lock is the anti Paxton Lynch in that regard you lie when I talked to him. It's the senior bowl. I I was so I use I don't want to invoke this name because I don't want people get the wrong impression Tyler toward me for this one the other day, but I have not seen somebody that dedicated focused and obsessed with football since talking to Peyton Manning to lock that guy. He's football upset detail oriented and obsessive, and I don't want to invoke the Druze going to have a Payton light career because I want people get the wrong idea. But the mindset is right. Well, he wouldn't have gotten that offense last year Mizzou Mata pro concepts that Derek Dooley broad, and he wouldn't have gotten that down to the point where he went twenty eight eight and touchdown reception ratio, if he hadn't done the classroom work, right? And it's go from Hypo which is a very simple offense. It's all I read right? Yeah. It's it's a guy like me can pick that up in a couple of days. So definitely like his competitive edge. I'm excited to see what he can end up doing right Edwards Benjamin Albright. Andrew Mason here until eleven o'clock tonight. If you want to give us a call three three seven one three eight five eighty five text line five six six nine zero. I'd say get a hold of us at Albright NFL admits Denver at or Edwards.

"Story number two. Graduates coaches coaches. Work on the little things, you know. You know, yourself and worry about how to overcome obstacles coach Fangio's. After he put together. I can't wait to hear. That is Broncos offensive lineman Garrett Bowles who joined us in our number one very excited about what the future in Denver. We'll bring with Vic Fangio and with Mike month. Check he went on. I asked him about Mike bunch check. And he talked about how excited he was. And how much his teammates in he realize. This is a big yet. Not just because he's really good. But because really he's only a part of the reason he's coming to Colorado is because he has family here. So it's kind of one of those things like not only a regain arguably the best offensive line coach at football. But we would have no real chance Adam other than his families coming here. So he's excited to work with him. And I thought it was a very candid. Interview with gear bowls. I thought that he was very honest about what happened this year, he reiterated his belief in case keenum, he reject the notion of the Broncos taking a quarterback at Tampa. He's like, no, we're good. With case we believe in him. And he said, you know, Philip Lindsey one of his closest buddies on the team could not be more happy for the success that he enjoyed this year. So much disappointment from Garrett Bowles when it comes to what transpired the season. But you could tell he's very hopeful for the future. Just while we're on the subject of of Garrett Bowles it's gonna be very interesting to see what Mike von check does with him because there has been some discussion that maybe Garrett Bowles would be better served on the right side of the offensive line. Instead of being the guy protecting case keenum splice side. If anyone is going to get the best outta gear Bowles. It is Mike von check. And I do believe that there is a lot of talent with Garrett Bowles. I think it's a technique thing. And I think if anyone's going to get that straightened out, I think it's Mike month. Check. So be interesting to see what happens with the Garrett Bowles under the tutelage of Mike month. Check and finally today story number three.

But the more you eliminate the. To score points on the scoreboard. And that's really what was just really graphic together as a team, and even though are just really focusing. Details when you get tired. That's what accounts. Starts. It starts when you're away from organization. Or giving starting early therefore? You take longer to get back into it. "Teams that have been passed from one. From a patriarch to his wife or his kids. Most of them don't do as well as ones that are bought by another billionaire, and we'll chimes in on the text line bears have done fine. Yes. Like, I said there are exceptions to the rule. I would say the saints are doing just fine. Now, we're not that far removed from Tom Benson passing away. But still it does seem like the saints pelicans on the other hand. Are not getting other one. Pittsburgh again. There are exceptions. It's not a rule. And the point that I'm getting at is that it's really not the worst thing in the world, quite the quite different. That's that's the way that's the way. I want phrase it. I'm not saying that if you pass an organization down the line to y four sons or daughters that you are doomed to fail. That's not what I'm saying. And I think some of you are taking it that way. I'm not saying that I'm just saying sometimes it's better to allow someone else to come in with a fresh set of ideas and some capital. So we'll pick up that conversation in just a little bit. We want to welcome onto the program. One of the anchors of the Denver Broncos offensive line. He was the twentieth. Pick in the two thousand seventeen NFL draft just finishing up his second season with the team joining us on behalf of south Colorado Springs. Nissan Broncos offensive lineman, Garrett Bowles drives us now. Eric. Good to talk to you, man. How are you? I'm doing good. Good to talk to you. Yeah. I so I everybody everybody is down in Atlanta, hawking all this stuff and living it up and everything not you. You're you're low key this week where are you? Where are you spending your weak, and where are you watching the game? Walkout. Back into that. And you know. And and are you just beginning your off season process or have you been at it for a little while? No. I just started. This is a week. So I have a little sore. But. Almost back down here where where I started. When I started the crap. Being back down here in warm weather cold for a little bit. Yeah. It's been pretty cold here. The last few days with with that distance that you have now. Now, we're a month removed from the end of the season when you look back. You know, what what was maybe missing? Or what was the culprit that kept you guys from achieving what you wanted to this year. You know, I really think it's. There's so many different parts of it. You know, we had we had. Leave or situations that you know, it could have gone both ways. Where we what we did. There. You know, I love my. Always grab. And it goes through difficult passes to say. Choosing sister, Harry. Yours is amazing after either stocksi he put together. I can't wait to joined by Broncos offensive lineman Garrett Bowles one of the things that came out of Vic Fangio's introductory pro press conference was the the line death by inches when you when you think of that phrase, what does that mean to you as a player what what is death by inches me? Football. The games are win in the trenches and games are wearing by inches. Second five then you need to get a down. The ball. You socks or your third or second, you know, eight you get a a holding call false there. Those are the things that are in mind. Some of those things you can control of those things. It's just the nature of the game. You know, you're going to get a holding call. They're there you're gonna get a false start. You're gonna get apparently they're gonna get sick stuff is going to have to call a timeout. You know, a glare game. But it's win. He's doing it over and over and over again. What? "Now Roger Goodell speaking on it today. Said quote, it is one that our office talking about the dispute it is one that our office and myself in particular, maybe involved with so I'm I'm limited in how much I could say at this point in time. I guess I'd say in the short term that it's sad. Win disputes like this occur. So even Roger Goodell is acknowledging like this thing is kind of spiraling initially. It was just okay a little family squabble. And now it's gotten to the point where it is full on grudge match lawsuits. Name calling finger pointing all sorts of stuff and Roger Goodell there while not a complete. I'm getting involved. But it's like he's acknowledging that this thing has gotten past the point of being something that people like me talk about only in the state of Colorado, and it's becoming something that is a problem for the NFL. So it does seem like the NFL one way or another is either going to get pulled into this or they'll feel compelled to intercede to make sure that one of their proudest franchises. Doesn't continue to go falls and become a side show. Eight six zero zero four six again that is the the text line.
