Man charged with murder in 1988 disappearance of 9-year-old Michaela Garecht
"Alameda County Prosecutors have filed murder charges in the 1988 disappearance of nine year old Makayla Garrett in Hayward. The suspect, 59 year old David Meesh, is accused of kidnapping and killing the girl. He was already in custody, serving a prison sentence for a 1989 murder and was recently charged in another cold case. Double homicide. Hayward Police Detective Robert Purnell is the primary investigator for the Garret case.
