"Got your race. We obviously know it very well. And the French would just like there was not saying that it was a criticism of Kane of south gay folks for Ken to take it. They were just saying like, is it okay with that plan did they even discuss it? And I don't think he was ever discussed. It was Cain for penalties whether we had one, two, three, four in the same game. Against to keep a new who knew him or not, it didn't matter so much. The reaction in France and to be fair, I started it. I'm tired of his substitutions. I'm tired of his very, very poor in game management in South Gate. And I agree with every single word she would say. Azure's don't think he's good enough. Why is Raheem Sterling even coming on in that game? How come Raheem Sterling is the first player that Gary started is thinking of when you two went down against France with ten minutes to go. When you've just spent 5 days in London, it's flew back from Doha to London. 7 hours, three hours time difference. Went by the other way after four days to deal with something that was quite traumatic to him and his family. Another 7 hour flight. Another three hours delayed time difference. And then you bring him on for saka, who is your best player so far? That didn't make any sense. Like epidemic any sense, not to capitalize on England being so dominant in the second half and waiting waiting to be too gold two one down to make your first institution. I just don't get it and it's not the first time and just for that reason I just don't think it's good enough for a very, very talented squad. Not only that, not only not only that but selling I hadn't really played well before going home. Then he had that and his mind is all the reasons George mentioned he flies back rashford was up until the Senegal game we thought it was going to start because he'd been flying. You're looking at his pace and behind his Gopher and behind he should have been the first protocol and to go back to the penalty. If Jordan Henderson are fell forward and they're going to be able to have a stepped up and taken that penalty and missed. Hurricane would have been bludgeoned. Absolutely bludgeoned by all and sundry. So I really don't think he had any choice to stand up as the leader as the main marksman as the penalty taker and take that responsibility. It already schooled. Forgotten. It's already schooled. Yeah, but then it's a whole new what's the difference between the second one and the first one? Well, Harry keen sure, the first time round, it could have Fox a goalkeeper. So why wouldn't it be a certain thing? Jules understandably then Gareth Southgate will not be your manager of the tournament so far, but we have asked you to put together your team of the tournament right now. Talk us through it. Talk us through that, thank you. Thank you for the photo, by the way. Yeah, when I knew you were going to say something.

"One of them thinks they know better, but I think he said he's one of the things they are the manager of Brazil. Gareth Southgate, the tabloid press just mining is private life just trying to destroy him. Second guess everything Rory was joking that he was on a BBC Radio show where he found that for an hour he and his fellow pundits were taking calls that were just filming at the mouth about the decision over who the fourth choice right back will be. So you have to be a statesman of just incredible stoic calm and I admire him greatly and every manager has strength every manager has weaknesses to be a manager in the modern game is so hard. You have to be a tactical genius, a psychologist, a man manager, you have to be sports scientist, the data analyst, the comb specialist, and more, and everyone has different strengths and weaknesses in those jobs. And tactically, Gareth Southgate is adjustment, the adjustments out of his game has been found one thing. And you look at his legacy, he's taken a team that have been deeply ordinary for a long time deeply underperforming and taking them so close to to the wonder I think that's helped me remember, remember the contact of England as a country is in chaos and he feels very often that he's the only serious person who is holding the whole place together. But then you layer in, just the agony of England. And in fact, in Barney Rene said in that quote, it's just as a dog going its way home by the stars. It's in our DNA. I just explained a quick take on the Argentinian DNA. Our DNA is that we are flawed

"And the Chelsea fans and the West Ham fans. The palace fans. Yeah, the palace fan, yeah. Yeah. And the focus immediately turns as yours almost did immediately to what Gareth Southgate does next. And I do feel for him. It is a human ordeal being the England manager to have to make the important decisions in that tabloid Führer. Even when they play well this England team constantly have to silence the critics quote and in a tsunami of feedback, which is like playa Finn rashford drop bloody hendo is Bullock's play Tom Davis unit. That's one was me. Very small minority of England fans. Can I get the worst leading for Tom Davis? Can we hear for Tom Davis, please? By the way, if anyone was set the San Francisco of Everton football as it's not my but will Gareth Southgate continuing to a fourth tournament campaign because he is going to get it ultimately in the English way. We do have to cut our heroes down, don't we? Roger, I love Gareth. I watched him for many a year at selhurst park. I think he has done incredible things with this England team. He is the second most successful in the manager after sir ALF Ramsey. He is a wonderful human. I've met him on a number of occasions. He's no Simon roger. Thank you. He is no Simon roger. I did actually see him miss a penalty for Crystal Palace about a year before he missed it for England. So I was like, oh no. He's consistent. But yeah. But I have a butt coming on and that is that after three tournaments, semifinal, final quarterfinal with this group of players. I'm not sure when post really, really, really come to shove and we're talking basically substitutions. I don't see. Can you give me the evidence that he makes in game decisions which put us over the line? He doesn't, as much as I absolutely love, got very serious now, have an eye, but I absolutely love him because I think he's such a statesman, and he's such a leader, and he's a good human. But that separate. But you're asking for a period of reflection, a period of conflict. Let's take a moment. Just take a moment. He makes 6 and a half million a year. Not a bad salary. No. No. And if he goes now, I think he goes with everyone huge round of applause and many, many thanks. I just think if we go to the summer of 2024 for the Euros, and this happens again, whether it's caught a semi or final with this group, I keep coming back to it, but this is the best group of England players I've seen since 1990. I'd read their ages. They're going to be even better next time. They are rather like America's very similar America have an amazing group of young players coming up. England have an amazing group of young players coming. It's taken them so far. Yeah. But I think they can go first. But broj can take them further is what you're

"Now, roger. It's like. Oh my God. It's Tommy Johnson. I'm wearing some paper on defense. I just want you to know. I got the sponsor. I got this answer to send me 12 extra pairs for this game on Tuesday. I think I only need to buckle up. We need to dig in and we need to be prepared to just this is going to be a battle of underpants. I got to say, I told you this, roger, I went back and I watched the game again. Today. The England game. Yeah, the England the England U.S. game. And I thought what really occurred to me that becomes this narrative, the day after the game, there's this sort of English narrative, which is like, we're so bad, we're so terrible. We're all for we didn't play with any energy. We were listed as we were all for. We didn't bring it. Saf gate out. Let's give it up and just all move to Mallorca. And then the American narrative to some extent becomes, wow, we had them scared. We had them listed. They were terrible. We dominated them. We killed him in every area. What was interesting to me, and I think the most encouraging thing for the U.S. is watching it again, I actually thought both teams played pretty well. England played better than I remembered in that game, but the U.S. played better. They didn't mill nil win against a terrible team. They nil nil wind against a very good team who were actually playing pretty well, but at certain points couldn't hang with them. The scary part was on 66 minutes, Gareth Southgate reacted first and made the substitutions and I think to some extent the U.S. got a little fortunate when Harry Kane missed that header, which I think a lot of people expected him to go make at the end of the game. In the game, on Tuesday, Greg berhalter must react first. He must be the first to

"Could have lost your run. In one of them, a penalty in the 99th minute. That's right. To concede two goals when we do this at the level we need, we're going to have to be better than we were today and some aspects of the game against the USA because they're going to be coming out as full throttle and we're going to have to reset. Now what's interesting from that is the way that these two games finished. England had a lot of fresh faces on the pitch. You know, it almost had a preseason friendly feel to it in the way that he could bring on a lot of players. Your guys on the floor cramping up injuries and England could come on to natives point. And score goal after 71 seconds of being on the pitch and then just looking like it was almost carnival atmosphere and full of energy because it was too easy. And the U.S. guys obviously not having the response they would like, not being able to change what whales were doing for the first 25 minutes of that first half or sorry of that second half. And it is going to be a different psyche going in. Now the other question for England will be, is there too much overconfidence coming in because you just crushed Iran and we're got a plus four goal difference and we're already through and do we really have to give the same effort that we did in that first half against Iran. And then the other question is, how wounded are the U.S.? Right. Are there key players that are just banged up after that second half? Because it was a physical match. To that point, NATO, obviously, front and back pages of the newspapers in the UK are all dominated now by the 6 pistols and everything. They're going to be getting excited, but you're very much detached from that quite a lot now on you in this England camp. And a bit of overconfidence can't be too much of a bad thing. I think to be honest with the way this squad is, I think they are realistic. I think Gareth Southgate is trying to send a message about that. And the fact that he's being critical of the team about the two goals may be in private is praising them, but he's trying to make sure that he's shown to the nation and sort of fans that they are taking this seriously on this U.S. side. They can cause some problems because they do have speed and speed itself is something which you know doesn't matter how good you are as a player. Like that will always be a concern for the opposition. So I think foreign then in that game the understand is going to be a different sort of task. And it's a big game, especially given the fact that the USA are on one point. They probably need a result from that. So they're going to get the best version of the United States team. And for England, they'll know they'll have to suffer a little bit in that game, but they have to be clinical in a similar way in the way that they were today. And I think for people watching the games today, you'll think, well, England are going to walk all over them, but I don't believe that to be the case at all. It's always different when there's always something on the line. So I believe for England, if they stick to their plan, if they play anywhere near as well as they've done, then they'll be okay, but he won't be stem scoring 6 goals because this is an exception. And they'll be ready for

"Three zero four zero two zero two zero. Two zero. What the expectations overall because we know it happens every time people get excited about England, especially if they live in England, Mark. What are they looking at? What would be a successful tournament for them overall? I think reality, I think if it gets to the semifinals that'd be a great tournament for England, but let's be honest, the last two tournaments they've got the semifinals against the final so the logical next step is to win something. But I just think this team has regressed and is at 6 games without a winner. I don't think the other team in the world. I think just getting back to the point about folding. I think that is actually a point about the coach. I think Gareth Southgate is a really offering in the last 6 years. He inherited a team that was in a real mess after Euro 2016 in Sabah dice, but if this scene was coached by Pep Guardiola or a Thomas Tuchel, Phil Foden at play. I think south get at times his caution and he's negativity. His lack of bravery is held in. I think it could hold this team. But England have got a good generation of players here. Let's not talk about golden generations here. We've got a very good generation of players. And it could actually be wasted by a culture that isn't quite up to the level of the players. I think if they had an elite coach, it would find a way to make this team work to get all the best players in it. And to make it capable of beating your Brazil's Argentina's France, people like that. I just thought that we go a certainty that they'll do that. I think on the very big gains that he's been tested like that, he's failed and he hasn't done a great job, but like I say, the big, big games where he's had to step up and find a way to win. He hasn't done it. Who's your roommate, Mark, before you go? I've got jewels who's incredibly tidy. Are we asked to gabs roommates, by the way? Oh yeah, we've heard about that. Gabby's on the penthouse. On his own, apparently. Yep.

"You have a country that refuses to get a section of the country that refuses to get vaccinated, which is Gareth Southgate, says you should get vaccinated. The compound effect of it all is that he's not really being able to resist being dragged into this sort of totally artificial and semi permanent culture war that there are certain commentators in Britain who insist on having. And I think what that's done is it's primed a certain section of the fanbase who particularly don't like his approach to equality, his belief that the player should speak to up against discrimination. I think there is a section, not a large section of the England fanbase that doesn't like that. A very traditional segment we should say. Being an expression of English culture and just English nationalism has always been an element, a small element, but a very present and very vocal element of the English fanbase who were naturally who had a natural proclivity to lash out on any of those issues. Yeah, and there is without question there is a racist street in certain in certain England fans. That has ebbed considerably, but there is still a street of it in a small minority of fans. The other thing this is slightly more complex to express, but I think there is a much larger section of the fan base. Who are not necessarily progressive or left leaning. And do not like being what they think, what they see as being told what to think. I think that's really important as well that there is a street of englishness, which runs you're not better than me, don't think you are, don't tell me what to do. And that, I think, south Gates rubbed up against as well in his attempt to kind of be true to his own beliefs and to be true to the experiences of his players. And that the effect of that has been that some fans have given up on him or will give up on him which is the style of play. That happens to all in the managers. Some fans will despair because of the results, particularly recently in the nation's lead. But I think there is another group of fans and they're probably the loudest. Who are primed to want south Jake, not to fail, but to not be in the job anymore because they don't like what they perceive as his politics. It strikes me, the criticism becomes a lot quicker than maybe it needs to because there is a section of the inland fan base who have decided they don't like who Gareth Southgate is rather than they don't like how he manages.

"They went to the final of Euro 2020, can they go all the way this time? I mean, I don't want to sit here and say no, but I do struggle to see it because I just don't think they defend well enough. And they've not measurably improved since that European Championship final last year. And they benefited from a good run, you know? They had kind drawers in 2018 and at the Euros. And I don't want to belittle the achievements that Gareth Southgate is made because I think he solved a lot of the habitual problems that England have about the weight of the shirt and not being able to express themselves and really being able to peek in the latter stages of tournaments and they hadn't won a knockout game for ten years before we took charge. So he has made real serious steps forward there. But when I look at the way that England had been playing of light and you look at the possible pathway to even a quarterfinal this time, assuming that they get out of the group, they're going to play one of the Netherlands Ecuador will send a goal. None of those are easy games. And then assuming that things go to form, it would be potentially France or Argentina in the quarterfinals. And I haven't seen enough from England for the last year or so to think that they're playing well enough to just keep teams like that out. The defending is an issue. It is a major problem. Maguire or no Maguire, they don't keep clean sheets. And actually, they struggled to score goals from open play. Harry Kane hasn't got an England goal from open play for more than a year. So there are issues there that need to be resolved. The hope is that Southgate can come up with the kind of tricks and the inspiration and really get England firing at the right time because he's got a pedigree for that to be fair. He's got a track record of getting England to peak when they need to. It looks at all or older than it has done in the past, but the component parts are there, particularly in midfield, I think Bellingham is such a huge improvement there. He gives them some real energy some real dynamism going forward. There are the attacking options, but as I say, you don't win anything if you don't keep clean sheets and that's going to be England's problem. Strap yourself in England fans. We could be in for quite the ride. So much. It's a coming home or not. Don't stop. Thanks so much, James Ollie, for giving us Ollie insight there. "Because if he gets to a final loser again, a little bit well, you know, another final defeat. So he's got an impossible target to reach, because the team has gone backwards, and I think a lot of the players have gone bottles. And now he's right. You look at Brazil. Brazil have got auto confidence. Argentina the same. They've got a pedigree and a kind of belief that it can actually win this. England don't. And it is fear. It is fair that when it seems to come up against the team that can pass the ball, you'll get B so who's going to have the worst World Cup. I think I'm a guy who's going to be very tough, but I think ultimately Gareth Southgate will have the weight of a nation on it and it will be a disproportionate way to what is actually got to deal with. So I do think that at the end of Gareth Southgate's time in charge of the England team, I think he's fed up with it now. He seems to be fed up with it. I think he's grant 6 years in that job is hard. But he's delivered way more than any of his predecessors apart from the guy who won the World Cup. You know, a lifetime ago for our Friends. So the big problem for England is that if South Gate does go, there's nobody that replacing because they've got this idea that one English manager to reflect the money they put into coaching system. Who are the English managers that could replace go get what the best option is now at Chelsea. So he's not going to give up a Champions League job and the cute as it comes in managing people like Chelsea, what you're looking at Eddie Howe, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lombard, you know, the cupboard is pretty bad. It is. Not long to go then until the start of the World Cup this, of course, the last internationals that we'll see ahead of the tournament that kicks off in Qatar. "Between England and Italy, England are the favorites going into this one, even though they lost that final and even though they are bottom of the group so far, Ian ducks, so what are we looking out for from England in this clash? Well, I think Gareth Southgate could do with a convincing performance and a win because England a little bit like France haven't been, particularly impressive, losing to Hungary. They were awful in that game, a bit better against Germany, but they were largely outplayed, got the draw in the end in Munich that night. But it's not going to quite be that the rematch of the European fund because Harry Kane is going to be rested for the game. We understand Tammy Abraham will play up front. I think Jack Grealish after his excellent cameo against Germany will be in the side. The Italian team is going to look quite a lot different. A few of the other regulars. So they're in a state of transition after failing to qualify for the World Cup. And it's going to have a bit of a ghostly feeling because the game's going on in an empty sale in England being punished for the Wembley misdemeanors that the European final. So is that will we have to wonder if ground Molyneux, it'll be an empty stadium. But England do need the points of the nation's league group. I know the focus is the World Cup this year, but they could do with rescuing it. They are at home. They will be favorites, and I think another player you might see is James ward prowse. It was put out for media duties today the Southampton free kick specialist. So England have got some thinking to do. I think as well at the moment, Gareth Southgate, there are rising questions really a little bit now. He's got this excellent group of players, is he going to let them off the leash? That's really the question. Well, we'll find out tomorrow what happens.

"The bookies do not agree with you whatsoever, England's second favorites to win the World Cup, Brazil. Meanwhile at 9 to two, you look at the Germans at 11 to one. Let's stick with that subject, then Jan. Who would go further in your opinion? Germany or England. Germany. Although England got a okay group, but I got a feeling that Germany will hansi flick, they will find this German kind of DNA, whatever will happen. They will come 100% sure to record a final or a semifinal. And if Craig saying, if Gareth Southgate can take out what is in his players pool, which I think is a good expression of it, but I mean, England got a tradition of not getting the best out of their generation. So let's see what's happening in Qatar. It's a good grip for England again, isn't it? Oh yes, obviously England Iran, the USA and Wales. I mean, imagine the USA would be on the margin. The biggest threat to them, that's not saying a lot. But you should take care of them. Yeah, I mean, they're going to be energetic and it's a young side. But you look at where those players are all playing. And when he puts that fuss 11 out, if they're all fat and he uses Grealish correctly and Ford and correctly and how they use it. It was very conservative. But a few unleashes, which I don't know if it will do, then, yeah, I think it's not easily knock out football for them. And then, and then we'll see what happens, but I think defensively, I just still think about them at the bike. I mean, I know Harry Kane will score and I know they've got a threat going forward. But you thought when these competitions unless you've got some solidity at the bike and I'm just not quite convinced still that England have that. We've got 5 months. "Doing or just Real Madrid, but I think there's a lot of wait for that as well. England lose to Hungary for the first time in 60 years. This is Gareth Southgate makes us a personnel in his three four three formation. Gareth. Jules other than Gerard Bowen. This wasn't good. This was in good at all. Entrance, I guess, maybe, but the rest was shocking. I thought South Gate got everything wrong from the team at the beginning from the substitution. You know I don't like him. I don't rate him at all. That was another example why I know he's in and of the season game is difficult. Everybody's tired. It's not easy place to go to and they quite difficult team to play against, I think, Hungary, but this was I thought it was shocking from England. I don't understand how it doesn't change just the formation after the goal that the civil side penalty, which was a bit soft, but Christine easily be given and not overturned. I was very disappointed by England and Saturday. Again, I didn't give it a lot of motivation here. Maybe that's why he mixed in some of the younger players to see if they'd be up for it because for me, it's been a long season, but I expected more. 5 right back in the squad. How is that even possible in zero left back? It's beyond me. Meanwhile, gab hungry we were playing behind closed doors as punishment for past instances, instances sort of racist abuse by the supporters. So instead you have agreed, currently there's some 35,000 children would be allowed in the stadium so not really bankrupt those anymore and still we heard booing when England players took an E before kick-off as supposed from those kids, which I mean, this is taking it to another level. This really is. I mean, I like the idea of having kids in when you're playing behind closed doors. I like it in principle. But this to me shows that the kids didn't really understand anything. Clearly, I know anything whoever the parents, the minders, should say like, hey kids, the reason you're here and not watching this game on television is because we were punished for racially abusing black players. When they took their time, right? This does not reflect our values. So we expect you to go and behave. And then if the kids don't behave, I'm sorry, that's on the parents who are there with them. I thought it was just incredibly disappointing. As I see it, reveal the economic patterns all around us. While you swipe right and left, understand money better.

"Slightly harsh penalty, a pretty flat performance, very flat performance I would say here from Gareth Southgate's morbid in front of the most laughably full, closed door game of all time. Lose to Hungary, a dark spectacle, and not just because the black shirted ultras who typically watch the magyars will ban for their behavior throughout Yuri 2020. And we're replaced with a couple of tens of thousand kids who still manage to boo the England players taking the knee before kick off, it was bloody awful. And U.S. fans really did revel a think in England's defeat. I saw a lot of tweets in coming about how I think we can do these. Well, let's say that I would caution reading too much into watching it exhausted players, ground down at the end of a long club season, trudged through a relatively meaningless tournament, every player I've spoken to is zero interest in this nation's league, money making manifestation at the end of a really shattering couple of years of football, including the lockdown of fanless football act grind, was it just the case of Hungary caring more about the game, David. Yeah, look, I think England beat Hungary here for nil in the actual World Cup qualifier. And I think that's more of the form. I mean, I do think there are some things that England do need to bounce back and actually bring out some performances in these Nations League games because there aren't that many friendlies to prepare before a World Cup, but I do think these are exhausted players at the end of a long season. There's a funny old lineup that Gareth Southgate ended up putting out there on the pitch. But he's got some players who, you know, they need to play for their, if not for their squad places for their place in the starting lineup. So I thought it was a flat performance. Not a lot of slight danger of Gareth Southgate when he gets a little bit conservative, playing, didn't really have anybody in a creative role in midfield, but still England's biggest weakness. And it's where kind of Gallagher may get an opportunity England do sit in a very defensive set in the half court in the set game. They look better when they're counter attacking when they're flying. But yeah, I wouldn't read too much into this, but obviously, you know, it's a disappointing result. What I would say is I just feel so much for England's players and particularly their black players having to be booed by a bunch of I'm just going to say a bad word schoolchildren. Booing them, taking the knee. I think it's just disgusting and awful. And I think just more has to be done about it. I could not agree more. I mean, to be to have your fans punished for their terrible behavior, replaced with children, and then the children execute this. I mean, there's something very when I say there's something very dark and the heart of Hungary Hungarian football. I mean, something very dark at the heart of Hungary right now in terms of the authoritarian regime, but you can listen to that breakdown in my other podcast dictators today. Say that again, Ian. Where's he been? Where's Stevie been away to? Well, I would say vacation, but I don't think he'll call it that. I was babysitting. A 5 year old a four year old and a two year old for 6 days in Philadelphia. It was no vacation. It was no Philadelphia freedom. Let me tell you. All right, for Stevie, did you ever have a teammate? You disliked so much that it was hard to stand up for him during the game, or with a differences forgotten when you stepped on the field. You don't have to say the name. But you can if you want. To be fair, there's generally in most teams and most dressing rooms. There's somebody that you don't get. Somebody that gets up your beak. But I would see that on the field changes everyone. Because you can not carry anything that onto the field because if you do, then it affects everybody else. It's not just a case of affect you or the guy you don't go on with. It affects the whole team. Is it easy to shake it off when you go in the field? You just forget. And no problem with it. It was always about we got to do this. It doesn't matter who's names on the Jersey. This is what we have to do. Regardless of where you let you go. All right. Have you guys ever seen a partnership between two full backs like Robertson and Alexander Arnold? It seems like they have a great synergy between the two, Ian. Now I can't think of any of the top of my head that right up there on the top two or three for assists in the whole of the Premier League. Two wonderful creative fullbacks, I think any manager would love to have them. I mean, there's always that slight question mark about Alexander and isn't there that Gareth Southgate doesn't.

Nikki dini and gap mccourty as well and we will be talking about lots of international action that we did see today world cup qualifying continues and we will begin the show with hungary against england. And tell you what happened in group. I well inland woman that game. Four nil but it was overshadowed by racist chance in the stands. We'll have more on that in just a minute but england move in five points clear at the top of group with that result today. But you were watching this one closely forest. What did you think of england's vomits. Look good. i think going over there. You feel that maybe it'd be lots of than it probably ended up because you've seen that home support. We saw it in the euros. But i think overall control possession while they never really let hungary gets too much on the front for the crowd something to champ positively about credit to them look like a very professional performance. And you know if this is. The england side going forward nothing. Yeah obviously definitely looking good for got to be happy with that long gab. Have anything to say about. England onto gareth southgate. Obviously this was their first game back after that loss in the final of euro twenty twenty to italy. I don't think southgate could hope for a better reaction if there were going to be cobwebs or or residue from from what happened on july eleven family. While the players showed that they're professional they moved on from me. And you can look at this and say hungary weren't particularly good in england. It's two goals and transition into goalkeeping errors but ultimately this is the way southgate wants to play when he plays that way. It's the right kind of opponent and they talk well on the counter. England will win and i- nights like this. They'll they'll win. Big how big. The.

"We once again allow to dominate the midfield again with the likes of luca moderate and wreckage. They dominated that game in midfield courageous. You got back into it. And they won the game in extra time. That didn't happen this time with the italians but again they were the team more likely in extra time to same mistakes and once again as soon as they competent comes up egland defeated. They're all there is nothing to celebrate. Here they raise no heroic run to define a. We start as tournament favorites join favorites with the french largely down to the fact that we had all of these home games to play. So the fact that you're lord these people as heroes doesn't really make sense to me because gas southgate isn't a hero. He's a manager that blew the greatest opportunity that we ever had. The players aren't necessarily to blame because the wrong players was selected by manager. The players can only play how they play on the week to week basis. We know all of these players When we got that and we pick five in the back with phillips rice sitting in front of him. We've got we've essentially on seven people seven defensive-minded plays that and i'll say lineup. That as a negative approach especially when you consider the caliber of plays that england coming through and that will have into twenty twenty cup as well and we will blow it again and. i don't think we'll get another draw like this is very unlikely that you get to amazing draws like basically give you a free pass all the way to the final it has been a massive letdown asked for The people that are out there putting crowns on the penalty takers and saying that they are heroes just for standing up well. That wasn't what happens. Gareth southgate made the mistake of choosing. These penalty takes based on analytics. That don't mean anything. They don't mean anything and pressure situation. What the analytics in a pressure situation wherever you know don don in training doesn't matter because at the end of the day you put a nine senior out there to take the final cake when jack greenish.

"Southgate was totally out of his depth. He's a defensive manager who is pragmatic through the whole tournament and shackled. All of the exciting and potentially world class plays that england had that we did not see a tool. I'm talking about sancho talking about foden. I'm talking about jet greenish. All of which did not reach their potential. Have any impact here in this tournament as far as the so-called perceived monumental achievement of england reaching a final. I pulled up england's pit prices here in his tournament throughout a modest four hundred inglewood beat croatia. It was minus one thousand. the england would beat scotland. It was minus five fifty against czech republic modest one four against the germans modest seven hundred against ukraine modest. Three fifty against denmark modest one thirty going into italy remember. These are pick prices. These are not money on prices. These are picked prices also not to qualify prices. But you can see. The england were significant favorites to win every single game. I wouldn't say the final was significant but the fact is is that we had six games at home and gareth southgate blues with poor negative tactics especially from a one nil position. The thing to do would have been to find a way to maintain mobile possession. As soon as you went ahead in that game. Now you could have ridden these tactics outs hall of time. Even though it was clear the midfield that you picked a two on three situation that you put yourself into men. Italy dominated the ball in midfield the entire time. Rice phillips were completely overrun with the three into deficit. The england had by picking these three these three four three four three formation which is actually five of the back year. We had a lot of people at the back line. We would just constantly constantly inviting pressure mason. Mount on the left hand side was completely irrelevant and ineffective guy. The guy has no pace. How can you be playing on the left hand. Side while got the logs of foden..
