"It's seven catches 83 yards to lead the way. Harris goes out early with a neck injury today. Now trick want Smith just back off by are having a big game three catches 85 yards and two TDs to lead the way for the Saints. I mean, You always wonder Who is it gonna be, Because that's the one thing with the Saint on. I give Sean Payton and Drew Brees all the credit because You know about albums, America. I mean, he's a stuff you know about Michael Thomas, who has not had a great year because of injuries, but still one of the better receivers in all of football, But it feels like with the Saints. It's always that third player is going to meet Jared Cook, who has a big day today. It shake want Smith. Yeah, they are so effective of going where the matchup is and taking advantage of that time's against Rostock rolls on, and Smith with a great draft. Will lunch with the kick off deep into the end zone of the ball will come out. 25 yard line you mentioned earlier, Bruce Arians asked this week. Um, era Thomas, who concerns you more. If you had told Bruce areas that you're in the third quarter, and Michael Thomas does not have a single catch. He probably feels pretty good. Yes, that's the case of the Saints have a seven point lead. Whoever asks the question shouldn't have tricked wants myths of the equation right now, with a drink, want Smith? You're right. Michael Donaldson told me four target zero catches. You know, with 9 43 left in the third quarter. I would say there's no way the saints have a lead, but they're up by seven. Al Brady in the blocks with a chance to answer 1st and 10 from the 25 yard line. Two receivers will left single man right hand off for net runs outside the right hash on he's able to fall forward for a couple of yards on the play, or that's just across the 27 yard line for a short game to Mario Davis, the middle linebacker leads the charge for the Saints. It'll be second down and eight there wasn't much there off right tackle four letter from that, but I still think you need to be more definitive, and he's got a lot of pitter patting on the feet. I'm not getting in grounded all Hands up. Not getting much at all. Nine carries 41 yards in the ball game. 44 net second down about 7.5 to go Brady in the shotgun trips to the left. Here's the snap. Brady back to pass looks gross short right side caught by for net runs out to the sideline breaks a tackle from Angeloni, and he takes it out across the 35. That'll be a first down. Working down at the 36 yard line. So when eight yard pass Plato Leonard, four dead, it'll be first instead. Well, nobody has seen more of letter for death. And you have Tony Are you surprised at what he's done these last two playoff games for the Bucks, so he has the ability to do. Good, solid, running back, big, powerful guy. He's not gonna make it miss. But if there's a hole there and he gets going north and South, he's dangerous 1st and 10 for the blocks from their own 36. Receivers left single man right Gronkowski emotion from left to right, ready under center Has the snap handoff for net running right side on for net outside the hash marks will take it for a gain of a couple out to about the 38 yard line, and that will bring up the second down and eight yards to go in and talk about Lenin. For now, I always thought he's a better gap Runner, meaning counters and power is going downhill. And not as effective in his own game lasting ones. We've seen many inside zone because just not a great cutback runner, but he's so big and powerful boy when he gets going The head of Steve. He is tough to bring down. We have seen Ronald Jones today. But briefly second out of seven Quick pass left side cut by Godwin on he takes just across the 40 yard line out to about 41. Seems that a good job of closing that down CJ Gardner Johnson, Marshawn Lattimore lead the charge and our third down about five coming up with Tampa Bay. Trying to get the ball in. The hands of God went really struggled last week with a bunch of drops, so I'm not able to bring in that long one right before the end of the half gram. Knocked it out. Is he trying to make the acrobatic cast? This is just a little scream, Stephen, get more than south Good job by Latimore coming up being physical Bucks three of nine on third down today. This is third down and five balls in New Orleans. 41 of the near side left half. Two receivers right Single man of the Web. Brady is back in the shotgun. He's got the snap. He's back to pass. He looks to his left throws over the middle, and it's intercepted. Now they're going to say in completes. It was a low throw. CJ Gardner Johnson left his feet body had it. Officials looked at each other for a second, then said, incomplete pass. Yeah, I'm not sure what Brady's looking at because No one's gonna be the swan. He's gonna running in route in the middle of the field. Gardner Johnson was at Lattimore. 22 23 1 of them's on the ground right now, but undercuts the route. "San Francisco 40 Niners in Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys during the victory over the 40 Niners to score was 41 to 33 for our local partners Break Number eight is up next break Number eight Bill resisting Chad Brown here in New Orleans and you have missed anything yet. We're scoreless with 6 55 to go in the first quarter both offenses and struggled. She's now trying to take advantage of the turnover. And her 2nd and 10 at the New Orleans 11 Yard line. Moving left arrive on the far left ash play action, fake little dump off and this is the tight end coming around the near side That's elder and he has tripped up and dropped. Tackled by tomorrow, Davis and this is set up the third down about five gonna mark this of the six yard line. Maybe just inside the six and Davis. You may see Jake Gardner Johnson is shaken up and the officials have stopped play. I think your thought earlier about the prize fighting out yet I think both teams are beginning to figure out what is possible against either these defense is not their aggressive play calling. Take what kind of what The defense gives a lot of shorter stuff. At some point, I'm expecting particularly fashionable homes to lose patients and started force that ball down the field a bit. Mahomes is five of 11 for 24 yards. Drew Brees is playing today If you did not hear this week back from those 11 fractured ribs and punctured long suffered a month ago and breezes off to his tough start is over four throwing the football, including an interception, Right. Here's the third down and four for Kansas City at the five of New Orleans. Holmes turns around, swings it near side right now. Looks towards the end zone caught touchdown. Tyree Kale, homes just move into his right little spin out to the right. And he found Tyree killed, wide open, five yard touchdown pass and the Chiefs on the board. First leading 60. Nothing. Tommy Field lines up to the right. Oceans to the left motions back to the right ball snuff. He goes back to the left. All that movement happens behind the offensive line for the chief. He changes directions. Three different times. I believe Whatever saints continue that was responsible for talent feels lost him and all that motion. He is unguarded in the end zone. EZ Pass compatible homes. Touchdown chief's back. The defender was probably worn out, just running back and forth. All right. Extra point try by Harrison, but you're not a sure thing. He's missed six of these this year. This one is up and this is just fine. Right down pointers as they say here in the big Easy we've got a time out 6 18 to go quarter. "It was seventeen. I probably would've best bet them. Seventeen and a half point favorites against the jets. The total is forty four mitch. It's funny you say that. I'm looking at my notes. I had written down if it was thirteen. I could see myself betting. Yeah i mean we all feel the same way about both of these teams in this game. And i think the reason. It's in the lightning rounds just because the line is so high. I don't know. I mean like i said earlier. Russell wilson was pulled in the third quarter against the jets last week. So you wonder if if that's going to happen again but even if it does i mean you can't have a back cover unless you actually score points and i don't know if the jets are going to be able to do that while you guys talk. I'm looking up the jets. The rest of their opponents wanna see if they'll get that high again so you guys you can tell that's all toss it to carry because i don't have much else to say. Look at the bengals to see what they're gonna do down the stretch here Yeah i look. I bet the over last weekend seahawks jets because i figured. Hey yeah jets are gonna score a garbage touchdown or two. I mean sam. Darnold got a sort of his stock going into the offseason. When he's probably gonna be looking for a new team and all that stuff and they just they didn't and they got the puck two minutes left and just essentially ran to running plays and and just laughed. So yeah you know. I lean ramseyer that that's an absurd line for a ram seen. That doesn't put up a ton of points on top of that. I just i. I can't imagine the jets points back back weeks in this situation with darnold under center and again just looking to recover his stock in some way shape or form. I mean i would pick the rams if i if i was bending it i'd bet the rams i take the chance on the half point i'm not going to best bet it but how do you. How do you go to the jets in this one on the road here against the rams seem that needs a game a last game. Last game is An interesting one here. There is a play like in this game but has nothing to do with this podcast. I'll tell you the comparison a cardinals or minus six at home against the eagles. Total is forty nine again. The team total for the eagles in this game is twenty and a half. I think jalen hurts will top that so that'll be my play. I'm not picking the i. I wanna bet the eagles here plus six because of jalen hurts but again. It's a rookie quarterback going on the road. Arizona's defense is decent. Pass rush so i'm not going to go there. mental. I'd say that. Gary yeah two things bothering that hurts One i i don't know why the saints seemed to be so caught off guard by It seems like that's what you're going to do. jalen hurts. it is a. it's a limited passing game now. of course alerts is not going to do the multiple boneheaded things that carson wentz it every week so you're taking the turnover You know factor out of that. But if cj gardner johnson hangs onto that pick six fda in the fourth quarter on are we all thinking about jalen hurts differently this week and he like like wednesday. Couldn't even move the ball at least here. The ball was moving a little bit. Yes yeah and and again. That could be a pick six in this game very easily. Yup it was it was it was big plays you know big running plays chunk plays like that i i i don't know is a sustainable..

"States have scored 21 consecutive points and the lead 24 to 9 with 12 41 to play in the fourth quarter as well. What's runs into it all in black for the state's swings? I mean Saint selenium, too Deep Safety's drop the linebackers in the coverage the robbed in the middle Me. Matt Ryan hasn't figured this puzzle out yet. "We talked about it every week, and then he goes out and shows you But the offense has become more college like there's so many arts go get, he's so you know politically, he's learning how to throw the ball, which Lamar's not being taught how to throw the football, you know, in a more expansive way, and that's why I wish remark could be an offense like Tyler. And I think that because Carly's gonna the full measure of who he is into the future, because that that is the future, not you cannot have Nick Foles. Nick Foles are guys that can't move. Are not going to get jobs in the future because there's too many yards out there to go get with your legs That coach would say, Look, I can't have a quarterback that I have to go earn three or 45 1st downs with their arms that they could get with their legs. So I just don't I think a guy that can't show any mobility will not have a shot in the NFL. You just like the scrambling quarterback was so unusual when I played, I think just the opposite The guy that can't move. It's gonna be the obsolete one. It is interesting watching you go. I'll just go ahead, Tommy. Go ahead. I was just gonna say it is interesting watching the the bootleg game. Now we're guys do get outside. I like the way you to me the way when you boot leg to Charles Haley in the 94 NFC championship game. To me. That was it was like Dallas was not prepared for that extra element of the game. And it was like the one thing they couldn't defend. Was you on the bootleg? You know, running naked, basically nail polish a huge advantage. Larry and we didn't take advantage of it the way we should have. You know, the game should have to me the game that they're playing today. I should have been able to play Because there's no reason not to have the guy come out of the huddle. We had quarterbacks sweeps. We had two plays in the playbook. But there was such a feeling that they shouldn't. We shouldn't do that. Can't do that too much. And you could see today that the media would know what maybe the rules and the way that we are to play. Be able to play defense. The way you're able to the quarterback the way you control the middle of field, all the stuff we talked about every week. Maybe it just wouldn't have worked. And so, man. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking, but there's no question That being able to move was unique back then. And then you come in tow. I've never Matt Millen tacking on my like this, and he just cursed me out about running it like that. I'm gonna kill you. I'm gonna kill you. I remember turning now. You can't catch me anyway, that so I'm not worried about what The Warriors pick is in. And according to Shams, sure, Ania of the athletic it will be, as expected. James Wiseman out of Memphis, so they're going to state warriors have selected James Wiseman. As their 2020 draft pick. Go ahead, Tommy. I think Steve's in favor of that pig. Why not say so? You just, uh way we're going to be better and better wave Look II. When does it all do we have a covert tester? We're gonna have 30,000 people. Now. They happened right there happening. No, it doesn't look good. No, no, no. The city said we're shit out. E mean, he very well may be but politicians, they're not gonna put their jobs on the line. Because a guy wants to have 9000 people at a basketball game. So they said, Thank you, but not right now. Thank you. Yeah. E just heard. I heard that you guys talking about the other day. I thought maybe that was gonna happen. Yeah, they let me let me ask you about Chancy Gardner Johnson, all the blitzing he was doing in the Saints game because I said it Mondays, Steve that if if Fox has enough time to build a graphic for this guy and show you where he's coming from all the time. I would think the coach is there. Somebody built a figure that out and keep him from being as effective as he was added throughout the course of the game. Who was that on? Is that on the coaching staff or not invaded for failing to make the proper adjustments? Is it on? Uh, the quarterback for not recognizing that every time he's up at the line of scrimmage? He's coming. Is it not up to the running back to say, Hey, he's here. I got him for you mean Is it a combination of all the above? Well, remember, we went through this couple weeks ago with my experience with their 1st 20 plays last year, and I remember I went with you know Tim Kyle today where you do versus policy? That's good against everything. So that was shocking to me Like, what do you mean? It's going to be serving? Nothing's going against everything. Everything leads back on the quarterback. What you talking about? You can't let the quarterback off the hook. You know, it's gotta be something you have to kind of deal with. And which tells me that he didn't devices plays it. He thinks he can get done without having to worry about those kinds of blitzes. And so if that's getting if that's effective, I've had I not honest with after the study a time ago, ask him and figure it out. You just won't know. But I got to suspect that he can't constant success. Would be on the coach right at the end of the day. It's unless the less the quarterback was just foolish, which Nick is He's not a He's not even using already. Everybody's fool. He's not. You confuse constantly, and then it becomes what? Maybe it was the line that couldn't track him. I mean, all three of possible you have to go study it, but I could. In the end, it's get like Kyle's gonna take it Take it to himself because he's responsible for making sure that he can put put people the situation be successful. Yeah. All right. I brought this up earlier on. We were talking about some of the basketball players that I played against that I didn't wanna I don't wanna mess with. They were just a little screw loose and you're just thinking I don't want to. I really don't want to get into it. I'll battle them. But I if I had to, I probably wouldn't like my chances against this person because there is a little off. Who was that? For you on the opposing team. Who you just thought this guy's dis doesn't seem quite right. Well, there's two ways to think about it, Tom. There's a guy that screw loose, but I'm not afraid of them. Like John Randall was a nutcase. He was like he he would paint his face. And like all these kind of concocted blacks like lines and yellow and green and he painted space, you come out. You're like You almost want to say what? You know. How did you Wow, That is really interesting. How you did that today? That's true lashing. Look, and he talking, screaming, yelling and You know, you just never stopped talking. And you're just like, Wow, you You just got the feeling that is not all. Not all squared away with John. You know, I was like, I felt so form a little bit like John, are you okay? Hey, way need to. You know, you meet support of some kind, like, but I never as a player. It wasn't that worried about him. The guy that worried me that was less You know, kind of cowardly was Kevin Greene degrees the kind of guy that like if you might carry a knife, like tired, excited to see him football uniforms like literally like there might be a little little pocket..

"Yeah, Who is this guy? And can you help us win that seem like it's so What's What's the problem here? Okay. I love it, Uh, ask you about because we've talked a lot about what? Deebo, Sammy on Brandon. I you bring to the team and a lot of it is, you know, the Jets sweep the orbit sweeps the little little passes there flip passes and little, you know, in motion, there's a throw to him on the run in motion and Who is a deep open part of the game plan this year. Even with Garoppolo, I'm wondering, sometimes think how many times they've actually gone deep and how many times it's somebody deep is that if you seem less of that this year, or is it, the quarterbacks just aren't able to get the ball to guys who were available deeper. I don't think a Rapallo and again we're not going to define his whole career now, but I don't think this year he's really been able to get into any rhythm, and it's gonna end up being kind of a lost year for him. Hmm. Moans. He's not a true deep ball guy. I mean, deep ball is a relative term. I mean, the girl in the NFL is rarely a guy dropping. That happens once in a while, but it's rarely guy dropping back and throwing it 55 yards in the air down the field. You know, deep balls tend to be in the NFL fades, even post routes are not necessarily deep balls the way a lot of people think about them, but I would say you haven't seen much of that from the Niners this year. You know, Mullins can throw a fate even certainly throw a post. Um, but he's certainly not a drive the ball velocity thrower. So you know you're not going to see a lot of the routes that really attacked by design, the intermediate and intermediate to deeper levels. Um, he's you know, moments to me. And I think I think pretty much everybody would would say this about Mullins. He's a timing and rhythm passer who needs to play design and the route concepts to define the region that throws within the early down structure of the offense. You know, he's not a sit in the pocket Late. The longer he's in the pocket, the less effective will be. So you know, I think he's a rhythm thrower. I think I you certainly has a vertical ability. Um, you know, just it's It's the nature of where this team is right now through 10 games. But he can't really showcase that ability. You know, Deebo. I think Depot's not as fast as I used in my opinion. You play speed fast. Um, but he certainly can get on top of corners at times, But this offense is not really I don't know if they can really do that with any consistency with Mullins Got it? We got a great cause. Sell Newman Gas line. Um, I love the exes, nose back and forth between Dennis Allen and Kyle and you know the Chauncey Gardner Johnson on the first play, you know, they sent him on a run blitz, and we saw that nickel blitz off the edge. That had to be a but there's no way he was. He was basically an on the ball defender Larry and No one. I don't know if you use check went the wrong way. That was something was wrong there. Well, what I was gonna ask you, though, is just what did you think about? You know about how Alan utilized Gardner Johnson in this game? Has he been doing that for much of the year was that special to the Niners? And also, the Niners seemed to take a wild to adjust. But ultimately they did make some adjustments. What did the film show on how they handled that nickel blitz? Well, it seems I've been doing that a good part of the season where they play. Just like the one Niners went big nickel than the Saints have essentially played nickel, Not big nickel. Chris Gardner Johnson is is really a corner. He's there Slack corner, but they played Nicholas their base a good part of the time and we saw that this week when the Niners had Use check on the field. Gardner Johnson was on the field when they went to tight ends. Garner Johnson was on the field. I think they only had one or two snaps where they were actually in based defense. It might have been one snap where they actually had Angeloni and Zack Brown on the field. And I think that was a red zone play other than that, they play nickel. And then they play dime, of course, which they do when they bring P. J. Williams and as they're dying, so this is something they've done all the time. This it was not new to this. To this game. Guys. I hope you don't mind. I just want ask Greg about a team other than the Niners. Specifically Greg, the Steelers defense. It looks good, OK, Can you elaborate on that? Because I don't think people have given them nearly enough credit for how good they have performed this year. Yeah, they're really good. Because number one, they can rush the quarterback. And obviously when you could do that, that that really makes everything about your defense better. I mean, I think they've set a record now with at least one sack and 65 or 66 straight games. Um, they're really good off the edge because they're so good off the edge. Sometimes people forget how good to it and Heywood are inside. I mean, those guys are really, really good Put Heywood. Might be the best spool rush with you Want to call you? We know what we don't call speed to power inside. We normally called more of a bull rush. He may be the best bull rush guy in the league and two it is just two. It is I'm always leery of comparing to this particular player who is one of my favorite players, But two, it is is similar size and style to Richard Seymour. And Richard Seymour to me was he was just great. So, like I said, I don't want to sit here and say he's Richard Seymour. But I think you know he's a 65 £215 man, you know, and you kind of lose sight of that, so they're really, really good. I think that Fitzpatrick is is a savvy, an aware as any safety in the league and they use him in that fashion, So this is a really, really good defense. I'm curious and all the football that you've watched, and this kind of goes really Don't watch any time. I just make this up as I go. I will make them make this up to you. Look, I don't really care. Just fill 45 seconds. We're good. Will in the next 10 minutes. "NPR 1045 and 6 80 V's Force leader was part of the game at this point, you know, we gotta e think I think the whole league in general just trying to protect the quarterback and protect players, So I just think that it's something that's embedded in us and you know, you got to try to be really aggressive than kind of try to slide off of there. Welcome back to the red and gold wrapped. That was Niners defensive lineman Kerry Haider talking about how the game was officiated Jesus. So that my grandfather talk. I'm very mature, too. Didn't You sound like a guy who's been through the wars You know who tweeted about. This was Richard Sherman. Richard Sherman saw that penalty for Kentavious Street, and I don't have the his exact tweet in front of me. But he was he was not happy. He was not happy because the game at this point Of Carrie Hyder. You know, he played well tonight. He needs another guy just plays hard. You know, You can see why Coach Eric loves Carrie hider. And because you just push hard push hard and and you know, against the run against the past you he still finds the ball You know, he He's one of those guys that he could defend the screen game because he can. He can read the action and he's got an idea. Clearly, you could tell that carry Haider does a lot of film study, Dennis because he He's more he's flowing in the right direction because he's reading not just the he's reading the personnel grouping in the formation, and if there's emotion, and I mean he is, there's a lot going on and carry hiders mind about how he's going to rush the passer. Pre snap. You can see it. Yeah, and on that play was we can say it over and over again. It doesn't doesn't help it, but that was a perfect that's exactly what he was supposed to do. He had a little bull rushed and he found an edge ran around bear hug to quarterback. Dropping to the ground. There's I mean, and you hear that in view interview he was saying, you gotta slide off. I mean, that's what you that's the attitude. You don't you know one as a as a defensive lineman, especially a tackle. Your your attitude has to be get to the quarterback. Get him to the ground. Like, Like I said, between he and Kim lot today. I thought they did a nice enough job. And you know we're talking about the offense stalling. They scored the 1st 10, and then they gotta get outscored by 27. The defense had some moments today and with Drew Brees going out there was a real opportunity when this game, obviously the turnovers. Long kick return. Put the defense in in some bad positions. But given everything and look your breeze, even though he didn't play the second half. They gave him trouble in the first half. He had that one long drive before the half, but By and large. Drew Brees didn't play well, that and then Jamis Winston. They had a couple opportunity to pick him off. They didn't so you know, Defensively, they played well enough because they didn't give up 20 yards just again. A lot of mistakes. Yeah, short fields to really, really, you know, good team in their place when they're healthier than you would get you beat every day. Durell is still there. He's hanging out in the big easy, Maybe having a Ben you a right now, and he's listening to these sports leader. Terrell, How are you? I'm doing good. How are you guys? Good. What's on your mind? This one hurt this 100. The good thing is that I'm not going to work this week, so but anyway, so I had a comment that I have a question on it. So Seattle did not do anything special by the wagon by rushing up the middle of the same to do the things that today but the blitz and so my concern is that the Office of Land is not able to pick up the blitz. But my Great is concerned with my cannon is that He didn't recognize. I'll take the bits up. And so if you're not gonna run home, I'm sorry. You're not gonna run like you used to know you're not gonna catch the ball at least created to take the blitz up. And so I think that Officer line coach get it because of the principal's office and sit down and explain. Why are they not gone over basic blitz pickups? What you learned and training camp. And so in the end original equipment we got that's a question. I was this the worst hit on weakened on Drew Brees, but no Del Mar Brooks because we would have home field advantage in the playoffs a year. That's right. But one of the greatest none. Felix pickups came on a Monday night in 1989 alarm spill of Phillip, who's out quarterback and I'm sorry, running back at the time. Didn't pick up a blessed from from the card in those folks favor and get hit. Honestly, the other places for the matter seriously into Steve Young's career, But the basic thing of you know that they're not doing anything special. So Don't have to slide over or make adjustments that you know what the same guys blessing? No, let's let's at least get out there. And, you know, we all just put a hand on it just like Bach him. You know, chip him just something to knock him off course. Dennis. What do you think? I mean, Obviously, the coordinator's Office of line struggled with these with these nickel blitzes. That gardener Johnson. It was just coming coming one after another. And once they didn't pick it up. It was like, all right, well, just do it again. I'll wait. They didn't pick it up again. All right. We'll just do it again. Well, they didn't pick it up again. We'll just keep doing it again. And Chauncey Gardner Johnson. I loved him in the draft a couple years ago. But he's a downhill player. He's a safety, but he's not a he's not a coverage player. So when you have a safety out there who's not a coverage player, guess what That means He's coming him. Jamal Adams is not creating coverage but doesn't matter why. Because he's an all world Blitzer. He's an all pro player because of it and Chauncey Gardiner. Johnson is very similar to Jamal Adams. He is He is an incredibly strong, powerful athlete who doesn't cover all that well, but he could blitz and that's what he did today..

"The line to gain CJ Gardner Johnson, and then tomorrow, Davis came in to help on the tackle. This could be a big one here, too. On the Niners offense number 82 10 yard penalty remains second death. That's on Ross Dwelling Excite end. You're right. It's a big one. I thought they were gonna call illegal chop block because dwell E. They got him with the hold. But as he was holding, you kind of fell down and tripped his man and I didn't know what they're gonna call exactly. But it was clearly a whole poor technique there by dwelling on that toss outside. It's a place a lot of holding calls on because defenders obviously trying to escape and run toward the sideline. Gotta be really careful with your hands. In time. You have a tall, sweet action play. "Saw something that again made me scratch my head. I see this a couple of times a year. The Chicago Bears have a wide receiver by the name of Javan whims who walked right up to Chauncey Gardner Johnson, the Saints And twice punched him in the head. While the player he was punching, was wearing a helmet. Why do football players do this? Instinct. It's just, you know, if you're gonna hit somebody, what do you do? You curl your fist up when you punch him, Okay. He hit him the first time, right? You would think. Oh, no, he went back for all I can say is someone who has been there, Me and Frank Wiecek. My rookie year. I got into it on the practice field because he's like a 10 year vet. It's like week 14. I'm out there, you know, trying to So hardened Salvi's I'd look dude, like, chill out. Jeff Fisher came over and he said You're going to break your Athene hand. What are you doing? And I looked down and yeah, take my glove off my hand. And, yeah, it's all scarred up and red and swollen everything. It's totally stupid, but I guess it's an instinct thing. It's an instinct thing, and it's kind of the opposite of like in baseball. When a guy charges the mound, he takes his helmet off. I take it that was the dumbest thing ever Never take the helmet off if you're going to run into a confrontation and never started confrontation, If your first move is to punch a guy in the face who's wearing a helmet in the face, man? That's an even more interesting thing. Yes, the taking of the helmet. You keep that thing on. You could take hit after hit. No problem. Exactly What do you doing? Protect yourself, but also don't hit somebody. There's everywhere else You can hit. A guy hit him in the chest hit him in the groin anywhere but the head when he's wearing a helmet, basic common sense. Very good point. "He played one snap and then he stood on the sidelines the rest of the game it looked precautionary, but you have to be worried when you look at Dalvin Cook's Exchange. Of injury history. How do you guys see week 6 playing out for the split between Alexander Madison and Dalvin cook. Oh first we have to make sure he's healthy and there's going to be a split if he's playing. It's just going to go right back to the old cook the cook Madison split. They're not going to be precautionary. Yeah. I think this I honestly I think they should sit him this week. We got the Falcons. I say we were fighting fans. We got the Falcons and we have a buy so regardless even if we don't need the Falcons, we have an extra week of rest for cooked like sit him. We have Madison we have bun. We have Abdullah like sit cook make sure he's right for rest of season. I agree with them. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they go to and I think that's exactly why they didn't put them back into the game. So we'll see what happens in week six with Alvin cook. Yeah, even that one play that he ran he came up limping right away. So now it didn't look right back early signs on his MRI look good. So hopefully it's not a long-term thing. But again, give him the rest. He he deserves. He just send a huge contract like you want to save him. Don't ruin him. Let's talk about some wide receivers. How about Michael Thomas? He's still off. "You asked me Did I see the skirmish at the end of the game between The Rams and the Giants. And I said No, I didn't have that game on at that time. And it comes before that Jalen Ramsey had to Children with the sister of Golden Tate. They'd been talking trash all day, and they eventually just couldn't hold it in anymore. Went to blows with Jalen got a fine four but Golden Tate Would not find her suspended or facing any disciplinary action. But I missed that. But we understood it. We knew the back story. We knew that there was bad tidings between these two guys on the field, and he took it onto the field. I have not even seen who the individual. His teammate that he was supposed to have gotten into a skirmish with is and there's certainly been no reporting on how it came together in practice at a time when the media was out of there. It's not a good time for the Saints, and you're describing them as a team. You can't get your head wrapped around or your finger on the pulse of them. I'm guessing that there are a whole bunch of people in New Orleans that have feeling exactly the same. You act for Tom Palace ero of NFL Network. It was Chauncey Gardner Johnson, who had the fight with With Michael Thomas in practice so again without knowing what happened. It just seems this is a pretty severe disciplinary action for what might have been a momentary skirmish. So you kind of figure there's something more behind it. Maybe we'll find out in the next few hours or days. What happened, But in any event, the Saints will be without Michael Thomas. For that Reason Act. Let me play Devil's advocate for just a second here, and this is pure speculation on my part. I'm not talking from insight. I'm not talking from inside information, but Maybe the coat is not happy with state of his team and the way they're going about their business, their focus their effort. I don't know what it is, but it could be any one of a number of things. Sometimes when you're going down that road, and you've gotta head off because you don't think you can stop the bleeding, you got to go to something drastic. And suspending if someone gives you the opportunity that Thomas lost his cool I am went crazy and practice and put teammates at risk because he didn't like something, and the option would there for John. Peyton did just pull him aside and separate the guys and lecture the whole team. Maybe thought that wasn't enough. Maybe thought he really needed to make a statement. Take a stance. Nothing like suspending your best wide receiver, arguably your best overall player for acting like a fool in practice. Maybe it opens up the rest of the team's ID for their upcoming game, demonic, I would have to think, especially as you mentioned wide receivers having reputations for being divas that you just don't want to alienate your top offensive player or second best offensive player. Or maybe even third, given Alvin Camaro still there, But given what Michael Thomas has done so far in his in his career, I don't think this was AH, send a message type of thing again without having known as known what's what's really happened there. But just my gut feeling is that this was pretty severe, and with this team going the way it did. I think it felt that probably had no choice but to do what it did with Michael Thomas, but bread but severe severe is in the eye of the beholder. Certainly it had to be severe. But diva superstar wide receivers, quarterbacks riding bicycle position players defensive ends They get the benefit of the doubt. Even on severe they find ways to describe it as less than severe. The coach may have decided. No, this is severe, and there'll be no superstar re helpful in here. I'm just coming down with the hammer. And hopefully it gets everybody in line. Well, we shall see and which is a soft seat..

"So I think they feasibly got despite having forty eight and one oh five is their first toothpicks. I think they got two guys if forty eight and one and five they can start be quality starters. And then I liked the lease MAC from Notre Dame too. I know he had some issues he was ineligible for a season there. But by all reports that you folks that you talked to he's really got his head on straight. And he's a gifted receiving tight end. So to add another middle of the field weapon is a guy who as a seventh round pick. You don't wanna put too many expectations on it? But he was a guy for me. I thought had late day too early day. Three potential is around three round four tight in a good time in class. So some some questions on some of these guys that led Chauncey Gardiner Johnson and lease Maccabi available. But I think the talent that they got in the Bank for their buck for the limited picks that they have in how handcuffed they were coming in. I thought they did a wonderful job. So a couple of things that's interesting. I I didn't remember you have an Eric McCoy is a top twenty guy. You know, part of me. Kyle looks at it and says I didn't really love the trade up for Davenport last year, and you gave up Trump pick. Although, you know, as a guy that played I am of the mindset of specially when you have a guy like drew Brees. You don't have you don't know how much more he has left. I like the idea of being aggressive and trying to go for it. And frankly, they probably should have been in the Super Bowl. They got a raw deal we all know that with the missed call. And so I don't have a problem with that. And with McCoy after maximum retired. I get it. They signed Nikki Ston and free agency. But they wanna make sure they're covered there and eastern really becomes their sixth guy, if McCoy ended up being the starter, and that's very valuable, and and really, you know, somebody interior gets hurt eastern would be plugged in. And probably if somebody in the tackle gets hurt they'd bump out Andrews, Pete and put eastern end. So he becomes a real. Really valuable guy. I just to me to move up from sixty two to forty eight and give up next year's to to your dolphins. That's the second year in a row where that that felt pretty rich. But if they go to the Super Bowl this year if they win it. I think it's worth it. And they wanted to be to make sure that they weren't of left holding the bag at that position. The Gardner Johnson thing is interesting to me because you know, this is one of those things where we heard a lot you get to later in the process, and you hear these rumors about that he really didn't interview. Well, and I guess I'm curious cow as to what you heard in that regard. And what that typically means whether it's more of an attitude issue or more of maybe not having the football. Intelligence that people were hoping for because there were people that that thought Chauncey garner Johnson. They were shocked. He didn't go in the second round. He didn't go to around four. Yeah. You can definitely count me in that boat. And I'd be really surprised if it turned out to be football intelligence concerns considering how versatile he was at Florida and how much they really asked him to do. And you could see him on the field. He had phenomenal quick and close ability, and when they had him out in the nickel, and he he was tasked with stacking up block point walkers on double screens and no outside runs. His reactive. Quickness was very very impressive. So I would have to assume I didn't get any vibe one way or the other on on what the concerns were. But I would have to consume. It was either a. Commitment to football concern or an attitude concern because the film I thought spoke volumes of how sharpie was now. I will say this. They're probably some concerns and probably lost it over in the media..

I still see some things from the front seven with Georgia that I want to see improve and and as time goes. You suspect that Kirby will get those things fixed as well. But this'll be a tough challenge. It's a lot of young kids on Georgia's football team that's never played in valley. So for them getting into the atmosphere and and and really finding out what it means to play on the road in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is different. Two thousand one. Georgia came when we were not even on the radar really and. David Greene was the quarterback. They had a lot of really good players. The expectations for them that season was very high. And after the game, I remember talking to David Greene was like this atmosphere affected us. So let me ask you your your last year. The game was in the afternoon in this game. I remember. Well, still upset with you about. All right. That day I can live without. It would be what is the difference? So you played in the afternoon as a visiting team versus playing a nine play most of your games at night. We played there at night one time when I was a redshirt freshman, jamarcus Russell was the quarterback. And I remember at that point we weren't very good. So it wasn't really crazy. The only other time I'd ever seen it, it was a two thirty, so I never seen it at at nighttime. Now you look at just how wild that place gets it to thirty s compared to how wild it is at eleven. It's noticeably different. So I can only imagine what an additional four hours probably look when it comes to says it is the home team, the difference just you surround Paul. I mean, look, we we. So Florida's crowd, this past weekend play a major factor in this game as far as players with juice in late in that game, Florida was still going like the game just started a lot of that stuff translate. That's why. When we talk about schedules and when we talk about records at the beginning of the season, Greg talked about this on t. oil if it's an act in front of that name on the school, it changes the dynamic of the game. I mean, because this conference is has been built, and I think we'll always be built on the fact that how good are you on the road? We've seen a lot of SEC teams in the past fold just by not being at home. So not saying that Georgia's the better football team. I don't think anybody would dispute that, but the elements for a lot of these guys as nobody experience playing there will be a bit different. It's challenging to, especially when you are a traditional team that goes on under.
