"Sometimes children even join them. But there's also a series of bills to further politicise election administration to bring further under the control of republican legislatures. If i remember the number right here. They're twenty eight bills at a pass like this in fourteen states criminalising politicizing or otherwise giving republican legislators more power over election ministration and that too is really unusual at is a compounding vulnerability in our system built atop the electoral college. These outcomes like the ones who seen in recent elections. If i remember the number here is something like if you flip. Twenty two or twenty four thousand votes in a couple of states. You could have gotten an electoral college tie which trump and would have won in the house around resentatives and so having a republican artisan officials running elections where you then have margins that narrow because of the electoral college. Not because of the voters is an extraordinary vulnerability in our system and gene. Halfway to the electoral college would be picking up a georgia and arizona. And you might win ten or twenty dollars so it was a good score back then. Did you ever play the world series of poker. Oh yeah well yeah. That came much much much later. I played when i came to california. I started playing in the car groups. That were down in gardena. They used to close at four o'clock in the morning and they be closed for two hours and woken up again at six. So we go sleep in our car and then come back at six o'clock and play. My favorite rooms. Were the monterey the rainbow which were right at each other they only you could only play five card. Draw high or five cards rallo. That were the only games offered back. Then and i kind of got away from it for a few years and then when they opened up the car groups again in the nineteen eighties. Were they allowed him to play. Seven card. stud. Hi lo split. New Travel Advisory Urges Californians To Stay Within 120 Miles Of Home
"Million Corona virus cases have been confirmed in California. 28,000 people have died from the virus since so much spread is connected to where we go. A new state public health advisory is asking Californians to avoid traveling more than 120 miles from their homes unless that travel is absolutely essential. And the state is also issued a new health order to try to ease the strain on overburdened hospitals. KPCC is Jackie 48 has more about that. The state's public health officer has ordered that hospitals in regions with few or no ICU beds postpone non essential surgeries for at least three weeks that covers every county in Southern California. Hospitals that have room must also accept patients from other facilities that have maxed out their intensive care beds. That's the case at Memorial Hospital of Gardena chief Medical Officer Kevin Metcalf says he has 30 ICU patients, but just 10 ICU beds were really trying to work hard with County E. M s. To stop sending ambulances to my hospital because I'm overcapacity triple the normal level, Whereas the hospital down the street may only be a 100% capacity. Under the order patients in southern California could be transferred hundreds of miles north just to get care for the California report. I'm Jackie 40, a in Los Angeles.

I went to my farmers from Sacramento, Fresno to Monterey and asked him about that story and like no way they couldn't find workers. Freak over it with the regulations California's bringing on so that's really kind of a true story. I mean, yes, that they're gonna wait a minute. Wait a minute. So you're asking? You're asking the people that hired the farm workers? Is there a problem? Yeah. Well, guess what They're going to say, What do you think they're going to tell you? Personally go these farms. I have relationships of these farms. I used to work down in Monterey County in journalism for her star, Kyle. So I have a pretty deep rooted down there. I'd be on these farms for a long time. Well, okay, But have you been on them in the last 10 months? Oh, yes, yes, I've broke her produce I we pride ourselves on non where everything's that and let's face it. I am dealing with. I'm not deal with the commercial farmer. I'm dealing with the family farmer trying to get work there. A farmer's dream is a take their Where's the farmers? Look it. I have no idea how the farm industry works. I've never worked on a farm. I don't even know how to spell farm. That's how far away I am so but but I will tell you I've got loads of stories here about the number of cases and when you look at the data In California. Let me give you the latest data. You know, and I hear that I do, um The only answer. Maybe they're the ones that wanna go The doctor more. I don't know. Um, right now you're not gonna get me in a doctor's office because I'm not going to be mummified and and and strapped it table. I mean, my wife, Brooke, that broke her leg during all this. Severely. And that was a nightmare to get you through surgery and thank God we're on the other side. But I mean, it was a joke. So I hear the Hispanic one. I'm on the farms. I'm a retired journalist. I grew up in Iowa. So I know farming e just like on. I'm laughing in these numbers because yes, I Yes, I do. The other smaller for males, not Marshall guys. But the commercial guys have a lot to lose with that story going out. So, uh, why would why would they have a lot? Why would they have a lot to lose? So somebody is working in your field. Then there and you, you know better than I do. That the seasonal farmworkers I'm not sure how the how the contracts work, but the story I saw. I think it was 60 minutes. Steve was saying these guys were absolutely they were afraid to not show up and go to work. And you know, I've been in him, you know about the housing conditions for the farm farm workers. Oh, yeah, I worked in Salina. Talk about crazy. Yes, complaining? Yes. Yeah, but let's talk about the roommate. Let us scared. That's just devastated Those big farms. I, just like I remember when I, was a child in the power to go out and I want to eat everything. Like funny, it's funny I'm talking about a childhood memory because today's episode is all about forgotten favorites. It's just Retro Very Retro today which I like because I consider myself kind of retro person I feel like all of my like my sensibility, my style. My tastes are a little retro. So agree.
