"ganassi" Discussed on NASCAR America

"You know, when you look at the Xfinity side and RCR has sung the praises of Austin Hill and how much his personality fits the RCR mold and I don't put Austin Hill and Kyle Busch in the same category in terms of personality and kind of what they represent. I think we're going to see maybe a little bit of a shift. I don't think Kyle will necessarily change at all. I think maybe RCR kind of changes, if anybody changes and kind of the dynamic of their shop and their mentality interesting. It'll be interesting for sure. There's an Indy 500 aspect to this Nate. I mean, do we really think that happens? I mean, I can see him in an Ed Carpenter car for the 500. I think it's possible, Marty, but I mean, certainly not next year, right? I mean, surely this is something 2024 and beyond. I think he's got to get his feet underneath him first. But Kyle Busch has not been shy about saying he had a deal lined up for the Indy 500 a few years ago and it was Joe Gibbs who said, maybe hold off on that. And obviously, if he's driving for Toyota, there is always going to be a conflict there. So now these were the Chevrolet team and Chevy fields cars, the Indy 500. That's really good. I also think it hasn't been talked about much, but I mean, the Chevy program is obviously connected to General Motors, General Motors has a Cadillac program, and Kyle Busch has talked about wanting to run a prototype. He couldn't do that really with Toyota and imsa. There might be an avenue there where maybe we see Kyle Busch in the new GTP category running a Cadillac prototype. Maybe at Le Mans, who knows? He did it with Alexis, but he couldn't do it. Very frequently, but he did run the 24. So speaking of the Indy 500 a couple of big nuggets dropping in IndyCar today, Nate, walk us through that starting with Alex below and Chip Ganassi racing. So Alex blow Marty has agreed to return to Chip Ganassi racing for the 2023 season after a contract dispute between driver and team. That got quite ugly. Got very ugly. Chip Ganassi racing actually sued Alex below and his management after pillow had signed a deal with McLaren racing for next year and Chip Ganassi racing had picked up its option for next year, obviously flow is a little unclear. And if that applied and they took it to the courts, they went through mediation. And so here's where we've arrived. And that means that Felix Rosenquist, who drives former McLaren racing and he's staying in their third indie car. It didn't look likely a few months either. It looked like it was going to be long now it's below. And just to confuse things even further Alex below testing an F one car for McLaren. Today, it's part of the deal. Part of the deal. Part of the deal. Which all sounds crazy. It's been the craziest silly season in NASCAR, IndyCar, F one. Everywhere, right? It's been insane this year. On top of it. And it would be awesome. So hey, when we come back, why don't we talk to cutoff race? The first one, the playoffs. It's coming up at Bristol. Could two champions be out after Saturday night? We'll talk about that next. There's a recipe for getting

"Like maybe five or ten years ago wherein a fuel mileage race down the end you'd see three guys running out of fuel but that is rare. This is even more rare. It's super rare to have a tire failure nowadays Especially with the suspension setup sale loudon to have nearly as much cameras. They used to so for larson to look like he was cruising the at another victory and blow it through nevada zone. Tired is goes man. I mean that was weird and unexpected and took an incredibly boring ending and made it interesting. Yeah i mean and the the whole race was just checking out checking out. William buyer is up there for a bit bowman was up there and larson's checking out all there it is i. It was very that was an interesting range. But i was like okay. I don't know if i can deal with another one of these races at all on sunday And the saturday you know race definitely living up to the numbers of the past although in this case they were even lower than typical saturday race. Which really only used to do. Well like when you have richmond or something like that but nowadays. It seems like saturday racist. Can't do anything just like the mid week ones last year. One point four five million one point four five million last year last year The double header was on fox and the first race got two point. Seven five million. That's big network as opposed to you know be on nbc smu thank I can't remember if it was on. Abc it wasn't any tsn but it's the least watched country since two thousand the weird part about it coming back the second day. They're back up into the area that we would have expected them to be in two point. Four four six. that's pretty good number for nbc s. n. last year was two point six million on f s one. And we've talked before about how you're in like the two and a half million range. Don't pretty good on. F s one. Then you add an extra million three and a half. Million range is good on fox Those numbers are usually a little bit lower at this point in the season on nbc and nbc esn. So the sunday race worked saturday race. Didn't and the winner of that second race. How bush i was reading a couple of comments and i don't know if they were after there's probably post race interview with kyle and one of the things he said was that we need to start going two tracks one time and by going to tracks one time it opens the door for all kinds of new places. hell he was even well. He wasn't suggesting but the person who was reporting on was suggesting that you know the people who wanna pocono also own south boston race. Tiny tiny little pavement track And there were like move one of the races there. Since they have the rights to it it would probably do really really well and it would certainly make things more interesting. And i think that those viewership numbers support what kabul was saying. No you're definitely right because people get tired of the same stuff especially back to back. Yeah i mean. I'm really going to be interesting to see the numbers for this weekend because it is on the holiday and you know it's it's but it's at a new track so right who's to say but yeah i mean i think also the promotion for saturday and sunday because everyone is brainwashed to think that nascar strictly sunday. Yeah for sure. I mean the saturday through a lot of people off if they're not paying attention and by and large people aren't paying attention. I i didn't pick bush in the second race did i took any house-key in the second ranked his laos ski. That's right who looked pretty good all weekend long bed. Yeah he was he was getting up there. Yeah but yeah. You picked hamlet on the first kazlauskiene in the second. Okay yeah And this kyle. Busch win was super interesting for me because of all the races for him to get a win. I mean he's just not them winning over the past two years he's not been winning and he gets a win in the last race that he should literally stuck in fourth gear at an incredibly long and frustrating track. And those guys actually benefited. They won because the transmission was was broken because he had the comeback in twice on that last round of pitstops one for them to service. The car put tires on it the next time for them to jump in the window and trimbe bungee the the shifter in the place then because he had to come back in the second time he had one lap more of fuel on board than everybody else who had to come in on the last lap or two to get fuel and so that basically gave him what he needed to win the race and then they very cleverly while they really try to time it. Cut kirk kurt. Cow wanted to try to time it and they botched it but they sent them back out because he was in fourth gear. I mean he had to like basically feather the clutch while rather than the engine to the moon to get the car to even go out a pit lane. He would have been done. Had there been one more caution and restart and he would have been done. Had he come back around and try to participate in the final restart of the race instead. He did his best to try to time it so he was coming out as they were going around on the one to go lap so he could get up to speed on the backstretch in fourth gear and hit the start. Finish line running after they had thrown the The green flag and so all the way around it was very fortuitous situation for kyle that ended up getting him this this victory in the weirdest ways i mean. That's that's smart. That's like the driver. I q right. There is all done so good good on him and get on his crew forgetting that whole thing down and yeah i mean. It was a greedy. It was a gritty situation for him. I mean at least you didn't lose what he didn't blow a transmission. You would think that would have happened sooner rather than later but why he did it all so good for him on that for sure and Breaking.

Chip Ganassi Sells Entire NASCAR Team to Trackhouse Racing

"Chip Ganassi sold his NASCAR team to Justin Marks. He's the owner of track House raising. And declared that he will pull out of the nation's top stock car series at the end of this season. Now one of the things that happens when you buy a NASCAR team that's established like Chip Ganassi. Is that you buy a charter and because the Nazi has two cars that means to charters. Now the terms of the deal were not released. But what I want to know is How much As of two weeks ago are two charters in NASCAR. And if anybody doesn't know what where the charter is, it means basically that you have an agreement that you're going to show up at the race with those two cars

I'm gonna go with william byron. I think my man william byron is going to bust him all this weekend. Maybe not known as road racer. Yeah but this is a little bit different place. I think he could up front. He's gonna go. He's been fast enough. That i don't think he's a bad pick so nate. I'm gonna put you on the spot kind of race or you're going to see and who's your pick making my fantasy lineup. A little help let me have it. Okay well you know me. I'm the most conservative with three of us. So i'm just going to go straight shock and she chase elliott of course because not only is he the best precursory nascar right now. He's got a lot. I think to prove right. Now with with kyle larson really kicking by the hendrick. I think chase probably wants the spotlight back on as far as what kind of race i mean. Road courses are the new short tracks right and four mile road course with elevation changes and fast straightaways. I mean this to me should be a recipe for a classic at people talk for years. About how this historic road course. Really deserves nascar's premier series. The expanding series has been a big hit at road america. And i'm really looking forward to my first trip to elkhart lake this weekend. Because i'm expecting something memorable all that education and he takes elliott bay being strength. I mean he went out really outlet. It's a full day raising on nbc. We had indycars mid ohio at noon. And then we have cup. Cars wrote america at two. Pm it's going to be a whole excitement. i'm not going to chase elliott. I'm actually going for i think. A first time right we hang christopher belga who won at daytona up. I'm thinking there's going to be a surprise winner. I think it's time to add to the winless. Donahue it's going to be. There's some guys out there and i look right here. You got handling a harvard for gone winless. Dylan you got radic. But why can't someone off this list. Why can't someone.

"Races and ask our team owner chip said today that it reminds him a lot of when he called felix bodice twenty years ago about getting involved in nascar so it is generational here and it is a bit of a changing of the guard in nascar team ownership. But it's not as nascar being left in a bad place even though ganassi is such an iconic name and other arenas of motor sport like you mentioned imsa an indycar multiple indy five hundred winners and championships chip ganassi still is exiting nascar at a time when they got michael jordan. They've got hit pitfall They've got guys. Like justin marks and matt colleague and brad kazlauskiene lousy and jeff gordon kind of transitioning into new areas of ownership and management. So a lot of good things happening for nascar right now even with chip ganassi's exit and i think tenacity would agree with that. Know i look at. I look at it. It's a it's a huge. We talked charters. We can talk all we can talk a lot of the ripple effect for me. It's expansion for me. It's growth in our for me. It's movement in the sport. It's an owner. That's joining the club under fifty years old. You know what. I mean and is expanding. I mean we've got a lot of eighty year old. Let's be honest about it. Okay if we're going to expand if we're going to grow if we're going to expand and grab those new ideas it has to be those youthful owners. Those guys think outside the box justin marks is that guy bringing pit bull along that got denny hamlin. Is that michael jordan is. There's so many people calling racing got. Yeah we can put them in. So i think it is a huge day for the sport from how it's perceived to the outside world so a huge day for ownership but i don't think we want this announcement to overshadow the weekend upon. No we have seen xfinity series racing and road america for eleven years. Racing's been great. The fan base is outrageous and now that outrageous rowdy spectacular constant crowds with staten. Crass is getting the cup series handicap of for me. What are we gonna see. We got rain mesic. Coda forget that one or back. The road course racing. Who you like. This was open. Connor was going to give me a tip man. I throw me a bone here. Throw me something. You don't want golly man. I you just hate to go against those those henrik card. I'm gonna go with william byron. "Course joking. So heading into the week Track house racing just marks in the group there sonata. The an media notice saying we've got a big announcement On wednesday at two pm as i okay cool whatever. They're going to be announcing either landed a charter. Finally the nine car. They've got a new sponsor something. Whatever maybe a driver something of second car knows. I thought about it for a few weeks before. I worked courage to just do it. I think there's a lesson here sometimes you just got to make the call and And that's what i did. And i called him and i said look i know process right now or a point in time right now where i'm trying to identify opportunities to To grow in the space into into create a great future for track house. And i just. I just asked you that includes charters that includes a potential acquisition of an entire operation and if If that's a conversation you'd be interested in having them outcome. Come to pittsburgh and we'll have an adult conversation about. What does this mean for. Ross chastain and kurt busch yet we we have to obviously go through that process and have conversation but but you know at the onset. Those are the top two that would be under consideration. Like i said. I mean it's not it's just drivers in fact there is a lot of great people there and we want to try to retain as much of that town as we possibly can moving into the next era. I think when it comes to The discussion of drivers at certainly where we're going to start with those two. And what about chips thoughts on this after thinking about it for a while it was it was very much Reminded me of about twenty years ago when i was talking to felix about us about getting involved in nascar. You know his I felt like there's a lot of young energetic sought being put into to what justin was saying. You know i think Like i said. I've said you know with all the new blood seems to be coming into the sport now with michael jordan denny hamlin and maybe because allows union. Tony stewart's at a team. Jeff gordon back walled and all these sort of things. It's you know the the sport is ready for some new young blood at a new group of talk about a new generation of drivers. And i think you're gonna see a new generation of her style. I think it's a great thing for the sport. Yeah no they didn't just by charter. They bought a whole team. They chip ganassi racing is no more so that is amazing. Yeah track houses. Straight up bought both charters from chip ganassi racing. Have all the assets. We'll be working outta the chip ganassi racing shop next season there now. A two car organization. Daniel suarez will return to the ninety nine car. Second car with a driver to be announced later. Just a mark obviously says that Kurt busch and ross chastain the current drivers at chip ganassi or the league candidates but that no driver's been secured or figured out just yet so Both those guys can be out of a ride next year. We've got these new owners. They're coming on board even ganassi mentioned In the piece that you know we've got jordan. We've got gordon we've got you know now. This is that the reason nascar is the sports league of the year for twenty twenty one because all that happened after the fact yeah a lot of the reason they got. The sports league of the year thing was was because of how they handled the kovic pandemic When all the other sports were shutting down and of we're gonna panic and all their players were coming down with it and it was swarming throughout the league's nascar had a plan where they stopped for about ten weeks. Nine ten weeks came back and had a decent over miami but when they came back they had a decent enough plan where things didn't run rampant through the garage area A couple of drivers dig it in a couple of other team members. They get it throughout the year but other than that. It was very very limited as far as how much it was transmitted in the garage area. They kept the media way from the drivers. They get the fans away from the media and the drivers. They did a really good job and a lot of that and the adjustment of the schedule to make sure we got all thirty. Six races in Despite having a nine week layoff Was impressive and I know we give nascar a of hell on a lot of different things But they really did do a good job of adapting last year to the situation that was given to them and to i think they did handle cove better than most sports so the sports league of the year was actually because of last year. They just got the award this year. Correct yeah now. I've been noticing some stuff and you've been noticing some stuff there's more fans in the stands. I mean crazy amount of fans. We're talking to sell outs. We don't know that officially but lots of people in the stands got ratings coming in. That are off the charts. Good are we seeing. A nascar resurgence. Or is this just a lot of pent up excitement because people have been cooped up in their houses for a year and a half. I think there is some buzz towards the sport. I'm kinda cautious on saying. It's a total resurgence. Just because some of the tracks early on here have had smaller attendance. You know Abilities at the track you know nashville as thirty five forty thousand seats in the stands and stuff like that so i'm cautious at saying. The is.

"Talk nascar about next year or any business decisions that were going on there without their owners. I realized that. Just where my true passion you allies. I love the sport. I love racing but competition and he'll being martyr with one of the best owners of ever be nascar that that's really what i was getting cited about looking. So here's my thought. My initial thought. I spend my thought for a while. Rick is not getting any younger so there needed to be some sort of transition in place you know if he retires or the worst happens or whatever that's a big organization with what is it like five hundred employees or whatever they need that stability and i think that's what this gives. Yeah yeah definitely does You have the face of the organization for for many years to come. And that's a that's what people want to in their job. They want to make sure that when they go to work every day. they know. There's a job there tomorrow no matter what happens So this is big. This is huge and Like i said it's communicating see. What fox does as well without Without him in the booth where they do they put in there. Maybe a right. Earn of larry mac. That'd be kind of cool. Maybe i know. Kevin harvick is kind of waiting in the wings. Kurt busch maybe yeah. Possibly i think both of them are definitely coming back this next season though. So you're gonna have a one year deal in there. We're going to find somebody now. Jeff gordon has had a steak and hendrick motorsports for a very long time. I mean this is that that part is not new. This title is new and him. Leaving fox is new. And he's going to be just his hands are going to be in everything now at hendrick motorsports and i'm guessing he's going to be the guy the point man at the track every week. Starting i guess now. Yeah yeah i mean. That's that's what i think would be the case. So this is this big It's going to be interesting so we'll start seeing more of him Immigration and like in just shots around pit road and stuff like that. It'll be kind of interesting. Yeah well i mean. He's jeff gordon. He is the face of the sport. He has been for many many years and for him to remain as a big time. Player is sport. This is this is awesome ball and the cool thing is when you start looking at all the ownership in the sport that were having. Currently you've got michael jordan in there with denny hamlin kohner. Now you've got jeff. Gordon is looking like he's taking out a pretty big role there hendrick motorsports. So that looks pretty cool. junior motorsports talking about going to the cup series if they can make that happen. You've got dell junior's car owner you've got just a market and there with pit bull and now time i put in tony robbins as part of the team as well so i mean there's a lot of big names And big celebrities. That are that are getting to be a part of the sport. Mayweather has been talking about it for years. floyd mayweather. So there's there's a lot of different things that could be happening here. But we're having a lot of celebrity status coming into the sport as far as car owner goes. Now you mentioned just marks at anything happened this week with him. I don't think so. Nothing major right. I remember a text. I sent you of. Wow what was that about. Oh yes. Wow i forgot. You're right so did happen right. Of.

"I'm sure and i respect the heck out of that guy and and just marks as well all right. So let's you've driven xfinity cars and trucks. You know what the cop cars are. They're going to road america. What as a fan can we expect. What what do we need to look for up there. You know the heavy cars. You know what we're going to be the cool place. Where are they going to be the trouble spots. We're going to be the places that we need to watch for as we watch the cup cars run here for the very first time any carbon. They're actually do have some experience in in that type of car there. So it's honestly something where i think you can expect a lot of side by side racing but the track is very narrow. It's it's something that i think will affect where people wanna go. That's the straits are so long that have guys too wide already or you're gonna go. Are you gonna use the grass. I mean when i raised there and skip barbara series. When i was fifteen we did pass able in the grass there because it was a little bit too narrow so i think there's there's so many things to do there. It's all about the high speed corners as well. Don't make a mistake in the kink if guys make a mistake in the cake that's a big issue but also you're gonna put yourself in a bad position into canada corner there at the end of that straight so. I think it's going to be a great race for the cup cars. I think it's going to be something that people have been looking forward to. I think the crowd is going to really love it. And i mean i can promise you that. I actually don't know what time the race is. I plan on watching myself. Because i assume it's not the same time as ours now. It's right after a full day of racing on. Nbc indycars noon middle high. When that's over. Go back to the fridge. Refresher beverage come right back nascar. In the afternoon i appreciate. I've never been a road. America so i have a page after that bringing down so when i get up in the booth. I sound like the kink on the backstretch. Candida corner the carousel. I'm starting to get some of the all the all the different corners and stuff but we also found a gym a complete gem of tile painting. Now we see why you're kyle petty fan and all about the hair fan right here. Has some hair this athlete. Full of success. I mean i have never seen anything like that before. "Yet again. So who knows. I know there's a lot of really cool news today. I definitely want to say justin marks. That's awesome. I think justin marks honestly is potentially on his way to you know being one of those names in motor sport that we're very familiar with you've got hendrix the world gibbs row. You've got penske ganassi andretti. All those names. I honestly truly believed the justin marks is going to be one of those guys in the next twenty years. I think what he's done already in the sport as a team. Owner is fantastic. Dana suarez and his brain is very big. I can see a lot of good business being done. Incredible deals that. He's working on being involved with the natural race. I think that's that's awesome and our sports kind of mingling. Together indycar nascar. I think all that stuff is good for motoracing in general In in north. America when you heard saying on oh go ahead staying on the news of the day connor. I just wanna get your reaction to gase. Obviously huge indycar presence. What you make of that. If that would have any impact on the indycar side and also we learned today. That rina's vk your at corporate racing. We'll be back this week in a bid ohio to work with a couple of temporary drivers the last couple of races. Are you looking forward to having arenas back as well. Yeah in charlotte. And he's feeling good. I think that kids basically robot. Now he's invisible so it's it's pretty impressive but but yeah on the nasty side. I mean chips. Smart guy he. He's one in everything. He likes winners as he says. And i think he's he's still an an currently running probably one of the strongest indycar programs on the grid. Right now So you know who knows what he wants to do next. I mean i'm sure he's not necessarily pulling out of motorsport. You know what i mean. He's gonna. he's going to have some of his sleeve. That's really really cool..

"That sounds silly but i almost think that's a better business model for for major sports organization look at companies in this country. They're growing about doing right by the country and it ends up being monetize. It looks to me that track house pit bull. They're trying to have a mantra other than let's go in and i'm going to jump in right there in say for four pit bull for i spent last week. Spent a couple of days with that is a win for him. Yeah that is a win improving the community. Changing people's lives moving. The needle morally is a win for him. So sorry just wanted to do that. I'm looking forward to watching that episode. By the way as well kyle on dinner drive but yeah i mean you guys have seen it. We saw it bill at nashville and the amount of excitement that he brought just being on the grid. He tweeted in support of this announcement. Today and i haven't checked recently. But millions of people saw that because he has millions of twitter followers and he is a transcendent personality. Much the way. Cv mentioned m. mj was a huge pickup. And michael jordan was at pocono as the owner of denny hamlin's car with bubble wallace and all of these things that i think are good for the race teams. But they're definitely good for nascar as a whole because they're they're putting new eyeballs on nascar. That probably normally wouldn't be watching and deceives point about how track house navy operates a little bit differently. I think we've heard that from justin marks a lot. He views himself as a little bit of a disruptor he wants to i think viewed as a visionary. He's a very young guy and again. This is what chicken asi is talking about that. All the talk. We do about a new generation of drivers in nascar and indycar. There's definitely a new generation of owners that have suddenly come into nascar cup series and justin marks really is at the vanguard of that and tie it back to the charter discussion. I don't know if this can happen without the charter system. Being in place. And i think also with the next gen car next year is next season. That's really going to change the business model in the framework and the dynamic where you don't think you know teams will be able to be a little bit more nimble in terms of the way they operate and i think that will give Just a mark stat pathway to potentially moving the competition base of this team eventually to nashville outside of the charlotte hub. Well we're far from done discussing this major news about track house. Acquiring chip ganassi racing but motormouth isn't just a free motormouth call show. Let's have the fans call in one. Eight four four nascar nbc. We'd love to take your call and ask carl is on the line big news today sir. What you question. I'll tell you what our sport is changing. I love it. I love what you guys said. i do. I love what they're gonna do. The community performance is key in our sport. Obviously but how this nuts. How long do you guys so before we start saying track houses now. They're mega team sport. How long do you think this comes together with all the resources they get now. Well i don't know mega team. But i will say that chevrolet has been very vocal. They announced their center a couple months ago. They're changing their entire support of the chevrolet teams. So i think that helps the team. I track house when you look at chicken asi. They were what chevrolet calls one of their key partners one of their major organizations. I'm going with the assumption. When you buy a whole company that hands you become that key person and we know it's about oem support so. I think track house making this investment to cars helps them move forward now. Listen you still got to guys that. Sit in the second driver is going to be interested to see. It is but i believe much like you said. I will go on record that i didn't have running as well as i run this year. Now they outperformed my expectation. So i don't know about mega team. But why can they not continue to outperform. I think they're on their way. Yeah attitude. I think i think and carl nails it a little bit. There says his perception is now. They're in mating. And i think this has to do with perception. And.

"He would have had in a row in the top two right. I mean that's crazy. So if saturday's race was side-by-side battling for the win going hard at it. Sunday's race was a strategy for fuel. Mileage thing i mean cars were dropping off like flies all. It was so bizarre because like you said we had the crazy race the day before. It was like okay. This is how it's gonna be. Okay makes sense. Yeah same cars. Same drivers same crew chiefs same trag. Everything's the exact same but it's a totally different race. Well it was a little longer though slightly longer that is true it was slightly longer but man it was enjoyable Both of these races were really good. And i i liked it. They both got really good. Ratings in the jeff gluck good race pole which they deserve. Were good races but yeah it was. It was interesting to see the two different kinds of races. So kyle busch. He was in my fantasy. Picks along with. Kyle larson a bunch of others. And when i found out about his transmission issues. I yanked him. Put kyle larson back. I'm like kyle. Larson has some knows damage. But they could fix that transmission kyle. Busch is done that way. To- he's toast. yeah exactly what. Somehow they hope through the transmission issues. They put the eighteen car on pit road. There's a guy hanging out the window and doing all kinds of transmission stuff. The thing is stuck in fourth gear. I don't understand. Yeah so the issue was popping out of gear and then it got stuck in gear. Suck too high gear if you have any restart you go to pit road or anything like that. It's going to be a long day because you're going to take for ever rises. Get up to speed because basically you drop the hammer too soon. Dropping the hammer. So yeah this is. I mean this was a real problem but luckily for them they spend the extra time on pit road which gave them a huge gave the field a huge lead on them. Which allowed kyle to get fully up to speed before. He came back around to catch the green flag for the restart and there were no more cautions after that so that was very fortunate for them. Had there been a late race. Caution cobblers does not win this race. But just weird it worked out and staying on parole longer. Allowed him to get one extra lap of fuel on the on the field which is what was the difference in the end. Let's hear from kyle busch. We were yeah. We were in that pack and i was kind of a little bit farther behind it then i wanted to be. I thought we were too far back. And so i tried to close in once and then those guys stretched back out. And then i fell off and then tried to close it back in again and then that time i was able to kinda stay closer stay more attached and felt like i was doing a good job save and fuel while doing all of that felt like i did a better job saving fuel when i got closer to them because as much as they were rolling out of the gas then i was rolling out of the gas down the straightaways and we were all saving and if we were you know laps ahead of them on fuel than we were going to be we were either going to be able to be let go earlier than them and race it out to the finish or we were just going to be more beneficial to being in the draft being back in the draft. All right kyle bush's second win of the season. He led only thirty laps on the day. He ends the hendrick. Motorsports dominance juggernaut of the last month and a half and at least he didn't have a reason to wind this time. I think it was very happy. We have that much adversity that pops up and you pull out a win like that. That's a confidence booster. Yeah for sure for sure. Absolutely what people want is.

"Equipment is very hard to value because there's never more valuable than the hubei or the day you design it right. It's tom you think you have a depreciating asset by some race cars. You want to see some depreciation. They'll appreciate the point. Is you have to have some appreciating assets more than real estate. And i think these charters now gives a real businessman the ability or real financial institution and say. Hey look here's here's the the race team finance a little bit cash flow. I'm gonna go get some sponsors and we're gonna rate. It's the only thing that makes sense. Look at the ownership landscape. You went through the list. it's bass and i will safely say. I don't think we're done hearing i think this is a common occurrence. We're gonna continue to hear the rest of this year next year the next year. I think that this now gives people that want to be a nascar away to get in and people that are in nascar. Who don't wanna be here are reasonable businessman or to exit. Yeah and i think what supports that. Steve is that chicken asi had no plans to sell the team until he was approached by justin marks because of those charters and because of the value that just marked saw in those charters. You know we don't know what these charters are worth because they're sold privately and deal details today weren't disclosed but dale jr. told the associated press that that he heard that ten million dollars was the going rate for the calling the college charters so even though chicken he wasn't looking to get out of nascar justin marks essentially made him an offer that he couldn't refuse and i again like i think tenacity looked at that and look at twenty one seasons nascar a good twenty year run and thought now might be the right time to exit and to your point about this validate the charter system can asi said today. Absolutely yes he he feels as if the charters are what have position nascar to have this fresh ownership blood and to allow a guy like chip ganassi again age sixty three twenty one seasons and nascar's premier series to exit and feels that he's done a lot and i know we were talking about this. Kyle i mean when you look at chip ganassi racing no championship but it does have daytona. Five hundred win does have a brickyard. Four hundred win probably has enough victories. Where a guy who's won the indy. Five hundred you know. A number of success in indycar probably feels us if he's done a lot enough and nascar to feel like he's he's done good. Oh he has he has no you. Can't you can't question when you look at the drivers.

"Who the other driver will be a a marks today. Said that ross. Chastain and kurt busch. The two drivers currently act nasty are at the top of this list. Thanks day kyle. Before we dig into this. I guess first of all. I heard rumblings. I knew there was a tract house announcement. I had no idea it was going to be of this magnitude or involved. Chip ganassi racing. Surprise really surprised. We're talking chip ganassi racing. Okay we're we're not talking some of these other teams that have been out there and have been in the rumor mill. We're talking chip. Ganassi racing has been a part of the sport forever. It feels like you know what mean we talked penske. We talked kim. We henrik we dunkin asi. That's the debts. Just part of the conversation. So i will have to say they did a great job keeping under wraps. They did a great job. I let me ask you something. Nate it when you say they're going to operate out of nazis. They're gonna operate out of nazis in twenty two. But they're looking to maybe move and twenty three right. I just want to make sure that that that i heard that part right here. That right kyle. They are going to be building. Twenty twenty two twenty. Three just marks left it open. They haven't determine where they'll be. Possibly in nashville. They will remain a chevrolet team and this year track houses essentially operated as a third richard childress racing car. They've been very much immersed in welcome north carolina up there at the headquarters and justin mark said that relationship definitely will continue the rest of twenty twenty two but are twenty twenty one but sort of remains to be seen what happens in twenty twenty two. How track house will work with. Richard childress racing. How many of its employees. They'll keep from ganassi And you know there's there's so there's a lot of moving pieces here and just a march was also asked today the big story with that team other than daniels words doing well in that car this year of course has been pit bull coming on as an investor in track house this year. There has been talking about tony. Robbins also coming on as an investor. Just mark said today that that's a possibility. But there was no increase in investment. Here by pit bull or by tony robbins. There was no injection of cash. This was just an instance in which track house needed charters for next year. They knew they wanted to run at least one and probably two cores they needed to charters and initially just a marks was looking around for charter and he said they got turned down for four charters so they sort of changed their approach after that and they went to big picture. How are we gonna do this. And they just decided. Well if we look at the entire landscape. Is there another way to do this. And just marks has a relationship chip ganassi. He's he to expand erase for chip ganassi of course chip likes winners so they have a good relationship and just a mark set about two months ago. He called chip ganassi. They started the discussion. No terms were disclosed in terms of what they paid for or any other details but chip ganassi was obviously pleased with this deal and he said that he likes justin marx's vision for you guys to react to i mean ganassi said on his on his way out here that you know he feels. He's sixty three years old. And this is a good time to exit nascar because you have the next gen card. It's kind of a relief the to worry about that but also all this fresh ownership blood. You have colleague racing with two new teams next year. Yeah now track house. Which teams jeff gordon. Of course coming in now is the number. Two guy at hendrick motorsports starting next year. Brad kozlowski reportedly going to join rush. Fenway is a cone or so chip. Ganassi i just looked at all of that and thought the landscape was right for him to exit nascar after twenty years in twenty one full seasons. Yeah not to mention this year. Denny hamlin michael jordan biggest probably in all of sports guts in jumps into nascar ownership. So for me. When i analyze this. What i see is a charter system working. Because i'm of the opinion without charters. Chip ganassi racing had nothing to sell track out. Yeah they went and bought some next-gen cars. They would about their own building. They would've bought their own hollers and chip ganassi would have decided to either continue or not but with no pay day so a guy that invested twenty years over twenty years a nascar. We you and i discussed one the biggest races the nascar has to offer. There should be an exit strategy. Because the only way we get fresh ownership in is if you feel there's a way to get out with a little bit of financial recourse at least reclaimed. Some of it another thing. I think we should point out because it's all this charter conversation is. There's this misconception that you have to have a charter racing. Nascar that is a misconception is inaccurate there are thirty six charts and yet forty starting spots in every cup series race. Why the business model is very different. Non-charter the invitation to race is real as every opportunity to go. Take and people that say charter system. Stifles that creativity or that growth are wrong. Because what they're basically saying is. oh well. if you don't have a charter your business model won't work your business model will work. It just has to be a different business model. You just have to rearrange it. Here's my.

If you want to count that that's four zero calling for another one tried. All he could to get around his teammate. Alex bowman towards the end of this thing. It looks like the aerodynamic package was too much to overcome. Larson finally gets around him with three to go. And it's like oh my gosh. Here he goes. He's got this it's over and it wasn't to be no i mean. Heartbreak is is an understatement of the year for kyle larson who He was one turn away. And there's only three of them to begin with well and he was in the turn riots so midway into turn three from his fourth win in a row. I mean he could see the checkered flag. It's like you know three nimitz aircraft carriers away way out there but i mean it have put them in the history books. I'm sure you have the stats on it. That he would have been amongst legends of the sport right. Five car ultimately pounds. The wall hard Putting him into a backup for the sunday race he ends up finishing ninth. Which is still kind of amazing. Yeah and so for the sunday race. They invert the top twenty and then everyone who his twenty first through thirty eight thirty nine th whatever it was this week they get those yeah starting spots but of course if you go back up car you go to the back which is not ideal at pocono. because you're like four nimitz class aircraft carriers behind exactly. They actually had that plan before cove and the double header and so they basically took the longest race of the year and split it in half kinda. Yeah which means we got rid of one of the really long races and now we just split one of those remaining ones and half kind of in half. I think it's still longer than the other one wasn't it. "Excitement is in the air for sure. Can you feel it. The two thousand twenty one nascar season is coming and we're now seeing drivers on their social media pages. Doing photo shoots with their cars. Their new fire suit onesies paint scheme changes and growing list of teams and drivers throwing their hat into the ring to attempt. This year's daytona five hundred austin syndrich is one such driver looking to not only make his first daytona five hundred but also his first career cup series star. Wow of course drive a team. Sports leagues face challenges amid plans to reopen

"Sports world, facing setbacks as leagues hope for a return according to reports several NFL. Players including cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott testing positive for covid nineteen. It comes as Brooklyn. Nets star Kyrie Irving reportedly said he was against the NBA's return. Due to nationwide protests, CNBC DOT COM sports business reporter Jabari, your US tonight along with mark, Ganassi's the CO founder of Sports Marketing Powerhouse Sports Core Gentlemen. It is good to see you mark to the NFL I. How is this news of the positive test playing out? You think in the League office or better, yet Roger Goodell's basement. and which which holds which basement that is into night? Here's the thing Scott. The NFL fully expected that there would be. Positive cases the NFL players are part of society, so they knew it was a matter of when not if it protocols in place, they've been working with doctors and medical with the Players Association. They're doctors and with doctors all across the country and the CDC and they've got this sudden got this covered. This was now it said the phases isolation then the next protocol. Protocol will be participation, so they actually expected this. They actually specter will be will test positive even in the fall when Games are taking place. I was GONNA ask you. What is the League willing to tolerate? Do you think in terms of a case number? It sounds from you as though they are expecting that these cases could rise in. They're still gonNA play. They are expecting. There will be cases, but they do expect you know. Three months ago we just got the virus just took root and look how much more we know three months later. The NFL season doesn't start for three months from now imagine how much more information image the protocols that will know that are better and how to deal with it that we'll know in three months, so the NFL is going to use this time wisely it's GonNa Learn. What happens with the NBA Major? League Baseball, the NHL MLS on the soccer. Soccer Teams in your even the Australian rugby they're in contact with to make sure that the NFL the NFL players, association, have as much information as they can have the best procedures and protocols, so the season takes place, and if there are players that that get virus, they will be isolated. They'll be treated in the games will still take place okay speaking of the NBA. Let's bring in Jabari young now in Jabbar. We have issues as we said possibly. As it relates to the NBA coming back as well. What can you tell us tonight? Well, it's just the same. The internal friction! Players probably. Did Not were not aware of all of the dynamics of what debt bubble Dannon. Landau was going to tell. They know that the MLS is want beat. They didn't know that a Disney up. Employees were not going to be quarantine is so now you have a whole bunch of questions from a league body. That's wondering okay. What's going on? And what are we going to do? Sky's get tested nothing. Obviously you see God like the White Howard and Kyrie Irving. Having their own issues with going back because of the protests in what's going without country from a social injustice standpoint, they have every right to stand up for what they believe in, but from an economic standpoint, the players stand to lose a lot of money. If they don't go back so I don't think there's anybody around the league right now. Thinking that July one NBA wants to come back. That date is not gonNA still be fulfilled I just think as a matter of. of WHO's going to go on the NBA has made it clear. They're not forcing anybody to go, but if you don't go, you don't get paid so if the players don't go, they just sit out. They don't get paid and I think that'll have their own form of protests. Some are voicing their concerns. That may be going would be better because of the high profile that the players would have maybe Lebron James Among those taking that stand. What do you know about that? Absolutely. That's the platform you when you down in the NBA platform and I don't think the NBA, nor espn a northerner sports which the Games will air on would have any problem with the players expressing themselves and I think if you players right now. Maybe you kind of go to the table you go to the owners, and you try to get more, and you say. Hey, listen you want us to come back. How each owner donate to some type of social injustice organization, some type of economic reform in a neighborhood. How `bout to force the owners to give back. You guys want us to go back down there. You want us to risk our lives you. You want out health to wants to go play Hibachi give back to black communities are more than which doing set initiatives aside use this platform to not only makes a Mega Stan, but use it for economic purposes, because guess what the owner Dan and make a lot of money from the NBA players coming back down and Landau and risking their lives and play.
