"Yeah the breaking points for a little different, but not much because I'm always ahead of myself from breaking anyways in the sixty one hundred and I think you know t, t sweat, spec class I would always drive in a little harder. To break harder But that just comes from like Moto but then now. Being the trophy truck is so much more planet like the trucks, just a lot more settled. I feel like it's heavier and then on top of that now I have the power to get out of situations and to also get up on top of stuff easier and faster, so it's. It's a lot more. Helpful I guess where in the T. Spec you really had to drive it because if you didn't then you're gonNA. Get Yourself A to a little bit of a pickle. You'd have to get yourself out of when you don't have power on your side. and. I've always said that about trophy truck and said you know the thing. People don't understand I, said. S- trophy truck is so forgiving in there so much horsepower everything is so big. I said that you can actually be a very bad driver and still be pretty quick and a trophy truck and I feel like you know in Specter Sixty, one hundred. You don't really have that opportunity because cornering. There's not as much horsepower there. There and things like that where you know, keep them your momentum to the corner. You can't really be sloppy, got to be a very precise drier and sixty one hundred You know what I mean and I feel like in troby truck. Just because of the way they are. You know there's a lot of drivers that you can make mistakes and still is not. It's not like it's going to be the end of the day. Exactly Yeah I. Think When you starting in t t SPEC before I got no trophy. Trust I. Think was very helpful because it taught me. The speed taught me. You know the worst of the truck and how to save the trump, not sliding through corners to get you know any sidewalk punctures or anything like that, and then also to you know Dr Conley. Smoother faster and I think an offs road. You know it's. It's so easy to go a little bit over, and then blow few corners you know, and I does feel a lot of time, and these races are so competitive now coming down the second on who wins? No I, it's what's crazy. You know when I first got into trophy trek racing early two thousands. It was like. Man It was like thirty minutes in between finishers. If you just finished the race, you're almost guaranteed a podium and now it's like I mean it's become like. INDYCAR NASCAR. Where literally seconds count you know? If you lose three seconds in a pit, you might have somebody get around you, you know, and and in years past it was never that way now. It's like it's so Uber Competitive I. Mean you know you'll see top five? You know all within ten minutes each other. It's Kinda crazy. How competitive unlimited truck racing the desert has become! Yes! I agree it's. It's been awesome to see. The transformation of off road, and especially now you know coming with the trucks. It's not just to drive a four. We'll drive than. Those four wheel drives are really really close to being very liable and I think that's GonNa rule the the clock. Yeah I. Agree with you there I. think that's kind of one of the biggest storylines over the next. I would say twenty four months in trophy truck unlimited trucks. Four wheel drive is going to do to kind of shift the industry and it's GonNa make two drives obsolete, but. Sarah, we are up against the time. Break always fun catching up. Sports leagues face challenges amid plans to reopen

"Sports world, facing setbacks as leagues hope for a return according to reports several NFL. Players including cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott testing positive for covid nineteen. It comes as Brooklyn. Nets star Kyrie Irving reportedly said he was against the NBA's return. Due to nationwide protests, CNBC DOT COM sports business reporter Jabari, your US tonight along with mark, Ganassi's the CO founder of Sports Marketing Powerhouse Sports Core Gentlemen. It is good to see you mark to the NFL I. How is this news of the positive test playing out? You think in the League office or better, yet Roger Goodell's basement. and which which holds which basement that is into night? Here's the thing Scott. The NFL fully expected that there would be. Positive cases the NFL players are part of society, so they knew it was a matter of when not if it protocols in place, they've been working with doctors and medical with the Players Association. They're doctors and with doctors all across the country and the CDC and they've got this sudden got this covered. This was now it said the phases isolation then the next protocol. Protocol will be participation, so they actually expected this. They actually specter will be will test positive even in the fall when Games are taking place. I was GONNA ask you. What is the League willing to tolerate? Do you think in terms of a case number? It sounds from you as though they are expecting that these cases could rise in. They're still gonNA play. They are expecting. There will be cases, but they do expect you know. Three months ago we just got the virus just took root and look how much more we know three months later. The NFL season doesn't start for three months from now imagine how much more information image the protocols that will know that are better and how to deal with it that we'll know in three months, so the NFL is going to use this time wisely it's GonNa Learn. What happens with the NBA Major? League Baseball, the NHL MLS on the soccer. Soccer Teams in your even the Australian rugby they're in contact with to make sure that the NFL the NFL players, association, have as much information as they can have the best procedures and protocols, so the season takes place, and if there are players that that get virus, they will be isolated. They'll be treated in the games will still take place okay speaking of the NBA. Let's bring in Jabari young now in Jabbar. We have issues as we said possibly. As it relates to the NBA coming back as well. What can you tell us tonight? Well, it's just the same. The internal friction! Players probably. Did Not were not aware of all of the dynamics of what debt bubble Dannon. Landau was going to tell. They know that the MLS is want beat. They didn't know that a Disney up. Employees were not going to be quarantine is so now you have a whole bunch of questions from a league body. That's wondering okay. What's going on? And what are we going to do? Sky's get tested nothing. Obviously you see God like the White Howard and Kyrie Irving. Having their own issues with going back because of the protests in what's going without country from a social injustice standpoint, they have every right to stand up for what they believe in, but from an economic standpoint, the players stand to lose a lot of money. If they don't go back so I don't think there's anybody around the league right now. Thinking that July one NBA wants to come back. That date is not gonNA still be fulfilled I just think as a matter of. of WHO's going to go on the NBA has made it clear. They're not forcing anybody to go, but if you don't go, you don't get paid so if the players don't go, they just sit out. They don't get paid and I think that'll have their own form of protests. Some are voicing their concerns. That may be going would be better because of the high profile that the players would have maybe Lebron James Among those taking that stand. What do you know about that? Absolutely. That's the platform you when you down in the NBA platform and I don't think the NBA, nor espn a northerner sports which the Games will air on would have any problem with the players expressing themselves and I think if you players right now. Maybe you kind of go to the table you go to the owners, and you try to get more, and you say. Hey, listen you want us to come back. How each owner donate to some type of social injustice organization, some type of economic reform in a neighborhood. How `bout to force the owners to give back. You guys want us to go back down there. You want us to risk our lives you. You want out health to wants to go play Hibachi give back to black communities are more than which doing set initiatives aside use this platform to not only makes a Mega Stan, but use it for economic purposes, because guess what the owner Dan and make a lot of money from the NBA players coming back down and Landau and risking their lives and play.

"Know, Scott Dixon's the kind of driver that you know, obviously, he's he's he's he's good. Today's he's ever been still going to win some races. And soon win a lot of races. And yet at the same time. I think you re we all realized that his his post career is going to be as as as as as lively as his career. I'm sure because of because of the success of his career because of the success he's had on the track. So I think that we've only just begun. You know, a lot like Zanardi where we thought that was the, you know, with a guy like Alex Zanardi, we thought we were great for his career little did. We know that was just the big when he was here that was just the beginning of his success and just the success. He's gone on to have off the track. Now is incredible. So and I think you're going to see that in Scott Dixon as well. Someday hope for awhile he's going to be here with Dr before the at least four years. Yeah. I want to ask you about his contract. But I think he's got a couple more seasons to go. At least what do you think he might do outside of racing around? And I don't care. I don't care what he does. I wanted to raise that wanted to race cars for us and win already a lot of extenuating circumstances happen to put Alex into the positions. He's in when he raced for you, did, you know like he had those things in him to be as transcendent. Nobody's news. If I said that you'd say, well, how the hell did you know that you'd be lying if I I said said, I. I just knew he was great personality and a great person. And obviously you wondered if that was you know, how how is that going to play out later in life? And you know, whether it was his wins in racing and his coming out of Formula one coming IndyCar, you know, having a having a not so good run it for me one getting an IndyCar having a great run going back to Formula one having a bad run. Come back IndyCar racing. Had a good run going until his accident. Had an accident lost both his legs every thought that was the end again. And he just kept going with that. And the next thing, you know, he's winning winning medals at the Olympics. And he's a he's a superstar on television today in Italy. And you realize that that was, you know, if you talk about the his accident, you know, it's like it was almost like a speed bump, you know, in his career about it. You got to see a lot of them in January when he raced. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Great great to seems great person at one of the best before I let you go. I can't let you get out here without one big pitcher NASCAR IndyCar question you, and Roger certainly are unique in that you straddle both sides of the fence, and there's been kind of increased chatter about collaboration between the two series obvious. I worked for NBC, and I know that they had a motor sports summit. And there's talk about maybe having a double header somewhere down the road. Where do you see all of that going, and do you think NASCAR and IndyCar can work together? More. I think I think. I don't know. I think. You know, I look at.

"Com website stories. What's it been like having Felix joined the team and have for Scott Dixon, have teammate like that? Who's challenging him in way that probably hasn't happened since Dario. Yes, it's nice. I mean, again, it's, you know, the interesting thing, I see there. As Felix is. He's got a lot of Dixon animal ready. You know, he's kind of quiet. He's not out there making a big splash. She doesn't have a lot of baggage. You know, it's a nice to nice thing. And he you know, he and Scott have a lot in common. And there again, they're they're they're communicating. Great, you know, for early on such a career, and they an information exchange there that I think is is something I haven't heard in a few years. So that's kind of good guys take pride chip in spotting people like this and giving them an opportunity. I mean, I know people have heard of Felix Rosenquist before. But you've done this now in Scott Dixon, was relatively unknown outside of some racing circles before he joined the team Montovia, obviously made his name. Here's an already I think it's fair to say made his name here. How you find these people in you take pride in doing a lot of it has to do with having the right? You know, having the right partners as as sponsors and having the right? You know, having the right people on the team at the time. It's a it's a it's a it's a racing is a is a momentum thing, it's a attitude thing. It's it's all it's all like, I said, it's a momentum thing, you know, you want to have. Everybody here is fully stretched in fully taxed in how hard they're working. You know, these. It looks like a sleigh ride. It looks like Hollywood on television. But it's a lot of the work. You got to want to do you don't want to be in this business, and you have to you have to work at it to make it work for you for your team for your company. But it's a great thing when it works. Well, and when it does you realize that it's a it's a coming together of resources and drivers and teams and tires and engines and engineers and mechanics and tires and tire changers. It's really a great thing to be a part of that. When you to be a part of that bringing that altogether at one time moving moving in a direction moving in a positive direction. And I think. You know, we've been lucky to have some drivers most of the drive we've had come along. And they they buy into that philosophy. So they joined being a part of it. Now, Dixon certainly has bought into it. He's been a constant for this team for more than fifteen years resigned. And back with you again to go for his six championship. Third all time in wins. And you talked earlier about like Rosenquist has a little bit Dixon. And I'm like, he, you know, he's just in my years covering, Scott Dixon. All he cares about is doing. Well. He's not really concerned about anything else about how he's perceived, and so I think again that's more on us than him. But unfairly kind of hurts him being fully appreciated. I think Jimmy Johnson is similar NASCAR. When you have a true legend like him racing. Probably hard to appreciate watching the AJ Foyt or whoever of our aero or the Willie Mays Dr J or Jim Brown in their prime can you speak to that? Like. Like, you say when you mentioned, I think, you're you're you're spot on when you say it's like watching AJ Floyd Brown. You know, I think. You know, Scott Dixon's the kind of driver that you know, obviously, he's he's he's he's good. Today's he's ever been still going to win some races. And soon win a lot of races. And yet at the same time. I think you re we all realized that his his post career is going to be as as as as as lively.

And and do as well as he is and Larssen's a competitor. That's that's going to be a challenge for him house. Kyle Larson been influenced by purchasing on a positive way. You know, I think I think it's nice now that you know, they have similar driving styles and they can exchange some information. It's not so much about exchanging information as much about as it is about just exchanging points of view and. You know, having having somebody on your team you can you bounce things off of? I mean, we've always had great great teammates. As one of the things that are Tina matter who the drivers are is to have open communication, so Kurtz adapted. Well, and you know, he, and he and Kyle or, you know, I don't know that they're best friends. But I mean, they they're they're they're they're good communicators with each other anybody when it comes to, you know, Friday Saturday Sunday, not necessarily want drivers to be best friends. Right. Yeah. Just not on my raiders. On this side Rosenquist off to a great start was that Saint Petersburg? And was hugely impressed by not only his finish. "Think is very important. I think it's I think it's it's it's important to be aware of things like that. And it's important to have the facts. Correct. And he. And as I said, I remember got a call from you once about a headline in USA today that said open wheel drivers. And he said, no, they're not open wheel there. Indy-car open-wheel was sort of this misnomer that came about over the last twenty years. Well, open the old line that offense your fingers all fingers thumbs. So it's you know, you you. It's it's it's so when you say open-wheel that means one thing IndyCar drivers means another and you were talking about IndyCar drivers. But you characterize him as open wheel drivers. Yes. Which is not false. But it's not is false. What you said. It's just not. I don't think it was. It was the point you were trying to make. Yeah. No, no as well taken. And I will tell you that since that day. The I think that was the story for the two thousand eight petite Lhamo that where we had this headline drivers I have never referred to IndyCar driver is an open wheel drivers since then. Thank you. So that detail oriented is that is that from being around your mother who is working for nothing somewhat. I think somewhat I think I think the takeaway is that you know, words are words are very powerful. You know, what words you choose to come out of your mouth or to to describe a particular action or subject words are very important today. And I think I think I think. You know in the social media space. You know, we we get a little flippant with the use of words, and I think I think some words have been hijacked other. You know, the definition of particular words have been hijacked. I'm trying to think of an example off the top of my head. But I mean, I think I think words are important especially in today's world, we become maybe more careless with our words because we constantly spew opinions. And we're. I think we've become careless. That's a good. That's a good word. We become careless with our with our language. Interesting. Well, Chipper here at the Long Beach grand prix. This phone system doesn't have like a key pad. We can't we can't get into the Chip Ganassi series. And I wanted to ask if it was DC solar. Shaking, sleet, tried usually. I just have the stance ima soundboard for when those people call. I offered I offer one of the other just the other day. It's very rare that it's natural person. And that I'm also prepared for it. But the other day the phone was ringing off the hook. And I was prepared. I had stand Smith up, and it was real person and offered to give them a job of making two dollars and fifty cents an hour and all the Mr. pips you can drink maximum two day. Nice. It's good. They weren't quite sure what the do. So they hung up. The smart. 'cause if they said, yes, they were kind of locked in at that point. So there you go. So Austin hill is going to drive her Tori racing. We'll see how that goes Brett mov for GM could be a big thing. Who knows in the biggest thing is what's going to happen with Jani solder on? Oh, I because he's forty years old. So it's not like he's angling to move up to the Cup series or anything like that. No. So I mean, it's definitely if you're searching for the future. This could be the way to go about it. And you could draw a little bit more sponsor saying we get we signed the the the the champion. Yeah. There this we've done it. What are we going to talk about next week next week? We're we're we're still like thirty. We'll be thirty days away from Daytona. We will be about a month away. Yeah. So I guess it's time to start looking a little bit more towards the two thousand nineteen season. Should we do a little bit of like like start? Maybe doing some preview stuff. I think we should. I don't care you break the rundown every week. Go for it. I'll write up some stuff. We'll do we'll start while you run down until I tell you. What store you the big store you missed? Yeah. Well, you know, sometimes it happens cares about good acid shutting down. Yeah. You know? But yeah. So the next week will start talking about some of the moves. That's what we'll do. We'll talk about some of the movers for two thousand nineteen how we think they're going to do drivers with new cars silly season stuff. And then as we get closer to the season. We only got a couple of shows left before were there before daytonas here. Some and we're gonna have to figure out not next week. But the week after that how we're going to do it because that's what I'm going to be doing a real world New York with all of my co-workers sing in one apartment together. Wow story. I know. Right. So we'll have to figure out how we're gonna do that show. We might have do it on Friday. So. Yeah. Until then if you want to subscribe to the show, so you don't miss it next week. We welcome you to do. So you can do it a die tunes. Spreaker, Stitcher player.

"And then, you know, like like, you know, kinda like what what Bubba Wallace had or we'll we'll like what Alex Bowman had where you get a couple of race released to the car. But, but I'd almost think in Chastain case since since we saw him do so well in a good xfinity car that it will be probably be a good test for him to run a limited Cup schedule. I might be I might lean toward that. If I were Chip Ganassi. Yeah. Just so by the way, f- way, I Hendrik motorsports. Does supply the Motors we're gonna see. So it's almost like a satellite team. And with with the solar out credit one had sixteen races last year that's less than half the season while to figure McDonald's and first data will will take some spots to and you also have to wonder with Kurt Busch in his contract. What does that do for sponsorship as well? We know monster energy is going to be. There is McDonald's going to be. There is going to be back gear wrench like the the other ones you go to that on the forty to put that out or maybe put that in some just anchors. You do a two for one deal. Yeah. I think I think that's what we're going to see we're going to see primarily monster on the on the Bush car, and we're going to see a lot of the sponsors that were Jimmy Mack. Just move over. Just hang out, you know, over. Why not I I it just curb? Oh shows a strike me. As your McDonald's spokesperson is all I'm saying. Yeah. He's definitely not loving it. So much. Oh, I don't know. Obviously those guys get more traction. I think out of collars. But who knows maybe maybe that's maybe they have a combination of that. Maybe some of those guys then say, okay, we'll chip in a little bit for for a couple of rows chess team races here too. Not what you if you see the potential in this kid. So it'd be interesting to see what they do with that. Because they can go one of three ways either put him in the next car put them in a Cup car for limited races. Or just I haven't said at home and watch. And then keep your fingers crossed for something to come up. I mean that worked for Alex Bowman. But really, it's the way you should operate your, you know, your your development system. Yeah. Not the best the best way to go about things. I don't I don't know much about NASCAR development. But that doesn't seem like, no, right. Don't call us. We'll call you. Exactly. Yeah. You shouldn't be Kurt Busch. She's. Bush had his old ride. Yeah. So the worst kept secret in the garage. Daniel swears announced as officially as the driver of the number forty one car for Stewart Haas racing this week and then right out on track. Man. In fact, I listened to a little bit of the press conference not a lot of it. But it listen to some of it. And apparently the deal had been done. I mean, they were just waiting for all the pieces basically with it was pretty much what we were talking about a couple of weeks ago on the show. They're waiting for the whole heiress bit of it to get figured out. And I mean Suarez's has already been to the shop multiple times he said he had to keep hiding so people wouldn't see him. And so they were over there planning getting the car ready, and that's why they were able to head right out on track at the tire test at auto club this week with him in the forty one car. So we get used to the Mustang ways. You have to hide he was a free agent. Yeah. Well, you know because of the the the one rumors again or anything like that we all knew where he was going. They knew the road. College was hanging out with some donuts and some racist phrases, right? He does go into they they knew that ruin the whole subway thing. They didn't want it to ruin this deal to right, which I don't understand it subway. Breakfast is terrible. I know right like, but I mean, it was really just. Just cancelled their sponsorship of this program by the hand. And then it's the worst like honestly, Jimmy Johns all the way shout out Jimmy Jones. Well, Jimmy Johnson does list. Oh, Jimmy Johns..

"You need rash to be out there and be racing because they're they're supposed to be the better of the extent of the teams. So it I I'm a little bit surprised that NASCAR hasn't tried to do anything to help on the flip side of this. How? However, I think this helps xfinity to a little bit of an extent. Hello. Because now you're going to have to really teams are going to have to invest more in satellite teams, almost like an affiliation. So you're going to have to have an affiliate program in terms like a AA AAA kind of situation where now they're gonna have to Chip Ganassi is going to have to find a team to put Chastain in. And you want chesting to do. Well, you want him to do well for for moving up into the Cup series. So you're going to give them a lot more. Mechanical expertise, and you're gonna get them or you know, just set like like with. Gibbs does did with furniture row. Yeah. Like, you're going to give them a lot more parts and stuff like that. So I think it could help some of the lower tier teams. Plus, it also it helps them in that they're not going up against such a higher tier rand. And I think that helps competitiveness just slightly little bit. Even though you still have Gibbs running guys and Penske's running guys. And and there's other guys other teams out there still doing it. I think it helps a little bit competitive wise that these smaller teams have a little bit more of a shot to have a better performance and could land some more sponsorship because of it they're not fighting to and from these with these heavy hitters. That's actually a very interesting point. And it goes back to what you were talking about last week your idea last week of hate, let's. Instead of just cutting down the field and cutting on the race cutting on schedule. Let's make these guys perform to be able to move up move down in the in between series. And because at some point there. If NASCAR were to be smart enough, bold enough to institute a plan like that you'll run into an issue if you had Ralston both if you had again, ask them, both if you have Penske in both so maybe Hinden ham with that. Nascar says all right Cup Cup teams. You want to be a Cup team? You're only a Cup team. You can't have a car in the xfinity series. You can't have a car in the truck series. We want separate owners everywhere. And it's all two problems at once. Now, you don't have like a, you know, no, sixth and seventh Penske team, you know, moving up because over the past couple of years they've all been moving up and at the same time. I actually think that what you said is is accurate that if you don't have that feeder system if you don't have. Have you know, Ganassi and xfinity and Ganassi in Cup. Then you have to have somebody. And so you you outlaw the same team owning Cup and truck teams, but you actively encouraged technical alliances, and it makes things it makes the the field deeper. It makes it deeper makes the talent pool deeper, and it really shows off with these guys can do. And again, I think you can also see that with a salary cap to when you get if you get a salary cap in place. Odds are something like that's going to happen as well where you will see team starting getting closer in performance because all the parts and engineering and things like that will be closer together in price range. Yeah. Looping back around the Chastain..

"Fifteen minutes was a Chip Ganassi questions for him about Jamie about you know, other crap there was only one statement from a and he didn't say this is my final year. He just said we're doing this thing. It's going to be a lot of fun or whatever we're going to revisit it again for the option for twenty twenty. So we'll see we'll see how it all goes. I. Ross chest Whitney in the wings. We know this. Yep. We've said this before he's run very well. And now now Kurt Busch is like eight doesn't seem like the right idea. It doesn't seem like a smart idea just to have him there for one season, then he out, but I don't know. Like is this the lesser of two unknowns yet because I mean, if that's the plan so Kurtz him for a year, then it goes on they bring Ross Chastain over. I mean, what was the point of having a Ross trusting going the two front row, then because you could have just done the deal now and gotten it out of the way. Now, I mean, they were talking about, you know, Kurt and experience any brings it can help, you know, call arson and a few areas, I get that. But I don't think it, you know, would merit it, you know, delaying Ross Chastain if the plane were really to get him in the car, you know, as soon as possible. But I mean Ross just staying he ran for for premium most of this year, you ran for j h motor sports and the expenditure for the full season with the flex seal. Who's that? Who was I think it was in the watermelon car and the only times he really made a big, and he was a he was a player in a lot of these races. But the only time you really made a dent is when he was in the forty two cars. So this is this is the reason for them to get a full season hin and take it from there to get an actual look at them. They're not quite sure if it's a real dealer not type of thing. Yeah. It could just be a Mirage with. I don't know twelve th second in. I I know pretty good three three race average. I know. Well, and I'm sure that whatever the watermelon folks were bringing to the table wasn't as big money wise as what monsters bringing to the table won't because it's his own business. I mean, he does he does the watermelon farming which I didn't know there is that much. I didn't know there's watermelon farming. Apparently that kind of money on Fight fight who. who knew that it was generating that kind of cash if I knew that then I wouldn't be racing. I'd just be watermelon farming. Yeah, you should can do it. Now, save a lot of us should so, but you know, and and, you know, the type of money because I'm sure that Stewart Haas was asking for a lot of cash, I'm sure they were and my guess is that gase was asking for a lot less, and so the amount of money that can be considered to be a solid sponsorship was probably much more in line with what monster wanted to pay. And so maybe that's why it all came together and only came together for a year because after a year, we know that monster is done on one hundred percent quick. Yeah. In fact, it might have been monster. That was the reason this is only a one year deal because they're like, no, no, no, no, no. Because November twenty whatever right after the last race. We are packing up our stuff, and we're out of here. There's going to be a smoke silhouette of the m logo as runs away from NASCAR in life. No. I mean, I don't know. I guess it's good. I it seemed the person I'm really concerned about Kyle Larson. He goes from a really good teacher. And in Jamie MAC to God. The Kurt Busch doesn't seem like a mentor kind of guy. Yeah. He's not really been known as the teammate type everywhere. He's gone Penske racing. Rouse racing. So I yeah, I don't know that it's really going to. I mean, they alluded to that. Oh, he brings experience, and you know, he set himself. He's oh Cosgrave. He's really awesome race car drivers always at the front. He's you know, he's done things that could win them racist..

"I am anybody's been worried about this. You know, the announcement coming on on December fourth last year was until December twelfth that Kurt Busch signed the a one year contract with Stewart Haas racing. So he's actually a week ahead of schedule. With it. He put out a big social media. He and monster energy there a little video things. So they were able to do a week early and put out a video production. So look, you know. Hello. Everybody was worried about again, one of the worst kept secrets in the history of NASCAR. It seems like. One every year as we move along, and he'd say Daniels wars. Yes. So many people knew this was coming. But we also have to appreciate at the same time there that these contracts that these drivers I mean, I understand, you know, they look like phone books these days, which is what what all the things that are going on. And you know, you have to let everything because there there have been some drivers in the past that, you know, you always say LUSA loose lips sink ships. There have been some drivers in the past that have had some stories leak, and they have really ruined big-time deals. So for them not to make that official announcement until every T's crossed i's dotted. It shouldn't really surprise us that much. But then again, it also tells us in this day and age start too many secrets left the interesting thing to meet Dustin as we look at this. And a lot of people ask about this year leaving in Kurt Bush's case leaving what I don't think there's much argument was the best team in NASCAR last year. And you're going to say shit or. Organisation. Yeah. Yeah. And you're going to an organization that has honestly struggled this been it's been kind of a second tier organization for a while. Why? But Ganassi was at the beginning of the year with Kyle Larson was the one Chevy car that was strong and fast, and it was the one Chevy car that could challenge Harvick. And Kyle Busch early in the season. There were few times when Kyle Larson did win races. Because he finished second to Harvick or Bush or something like that, you know, those guys and so they had a drop off as the season went on. But that was a team that was strong early. And I think with the. With the next second year with the car, you know, having some tie ins with the with Hendrick with the with engines and things and that's program. I would expect that program to rise above to rise. Just as I expect the Hendrick cars to rise. Now the question is can they make a big enough jump to challenge Stewart Haas Team Penske? But think about this way two thousand nineteen rules package intended to close the pack the pack the group together, maybe this is the year to make some type of change like that. And maybe that can be a difference maker. And and help, you know, a team like again ASI take that final step as they continue to make that climb. Yeah. We always want to talk about, you know, go about getting better and invites bullets. Also, go back to talking about value here. You know, Kurt Busch has a reputation for being able to help an organization lift everything up. So if you're looking at an organization who has a lot of high priced drivers. And we've seen it with other drivers Matt cans of being the ones. He, hey. Yeah. Matt you can stay here. But we are paying you what you're used to you know, when you look at stored Haas across the board. There's only a certain amount of money they have. So when you look at guys getting towards the end of their career, and we've seen it in all kinds of sports that yet you wanna stay at a place where you had the best chance to win a championship. But you're also talking about the last years of your professional sports career and how big that contract is. So when you look at Chevy. You look at Chip Ganassi and what Kurt Busch could do to help them. How big was that? Check to help them move Kurt over and get their value for it. Whereas storehouse racing and we're good. We're fine. We got our guys for the next couple of years. So that that could have been a huge factor in it. And I'm not, you know, I'm only speculating call. But by the same token, though, can't fault anybody on either side of that you can't fault stored hospital ponying up as much coin. You can't fault. Chip Ganassi racing for pony up more coin, and he can't Kurt Busch for taking it because of where he is in his career. Well, one of the things is to this is a one year contract. So it, you know, Kurt talked about on on the teleconference shortly after the announcement. And and said lucky I'm all in for for twenty nineteen if you know if somehow we win five races by July Daytona, then we'll talk about twenty twenty because the expectation has been the talk has been next. Year could be could be Kurt Busch's last season. And he even said, hey, you know, twenty nine hundred it'd be my twentieth season. That would be a nice round number two to kind of go off on. And now what it does is it for Ganassi. It gives them one year with this driver to kind of do some things in Kurtz, very good with chassis, very good in in in in helping some teams, you know, find speed. But then it also, you know, you're you're are you leaving the door open for, you know, after the, you know, twenty twenty twenty season, you can go get somebody in the free agent class there or you can go pluck a young driver. You know, look at the twin pipeline, and how they can't fit drivers in certain places. And I guess the question becomes after two thousand nineteen you think about a guy like Christopher bell. Where is he going to race because Martin treks juniors at Joe Gibbs racing? Kyle Busch is at Joe Gibbs racing. Neither one of those two. They aren't old guy. They aren't moving. Eric Jones, probably not gonna move young guy. Denny Hamlin if he has a bounceback season. You know, there's there's no reason to move him. You've got to Benedetto over the ninety five car. Now, again, does that you know, maybe that's only a one year thing. And and that's where if that gets built up that, you know, Christopher bell could go or does a Chip Ganassi come in and with Chevrolet swoop in get get Christopher bell. Now, you've got Christopher bell. Kyle Larson his teammates good buddies teammate dirt car guys as teammates. I mean, it gets there's that has been raised up denigrates if you could work out the contract. I mean, if you can get Christopher Belkin Toyota may have him so locked up that's not possible. But again, a one year contract allows you some flexibility if Kurt Busch has the year of all years. Well, maybe you you signed him and keep him and you convince my. Stay in an aunt ramp up, and maybe you can become a three-car organization, and then you can go after another free agent or something like that. So there's this can work both ways, you know, just like John was saying it it works for Stewart Haas, and and and for for for for good asking for it could work big for gase in a gives Kurt Busch the send off and does it lead to a potential young driver Christopher bell. Or is it lead to a potential free agent as that becomes a place to go to all drivers that have gone from the seat of hey Cup car to the media. Broadcasting side of things have been very disappointed with the with the with the money that's involved. But Eric Curtis said, he's very very interested in television. And he came to us this past year. We did a truck setup show with him. And he does some good stuff. They made Kirk Kirk came in. He had a great time. He was prepared. He did really really. Well, I enjoyed the heck out of work. Working with him. And he said after that couple weeks that he spent with the FOX group this year, he said that is a high priority on my list that after driving I would move onto TV. Now, again, it doesn't it just simply does not pay that kind of coin. But if you have a big, Hugh. If you had a career like Kirk, you still stay involved in it. And you're you're still within the sport, you something look at Jeff Gordon. Kevin Harvick these guys that have been involved in both sides of the thing that that's a that's a great transition. And that's something he might be looking at. Well, I think one thing is interesting too is there are limited seats in the TV booth trope. Kevin Harvick has done a really good job in his broadcast. But Kevin harvick's not ready to go. If you're Bush TV's what you wanna do or somebody like that that that's what you wanna do. You might want to get in before. Kevin Harvick get has this opportunity. Now, again, if you know Harvard's probably going to probably be a place to find Kevin Harvick because I think if he wants to do he's done such a good enough job and seeing his broadcast that he could be he could do something like that over there. NBC? You know, I think we've got a really good lineup. Nothing's changing that I'm aware of. And and, but you know, or maybe something we decided to do something down the road to do. In addition that there becomes real. But I'm thinking if your guy like Kurt Busch, if TV's what you wanna do you look at who the other potential candidates? Are you understand that there are as many seats? And it's like all right. If I go a little bit longer is it worth the extra coin for those year or two, and then what am I going to do after that? Or do I go and try to get the TV money, go take the TV job? Now knowing that, hey, one spots probably going to be for for Kevin Harvick at some point down the road. If that's what he wants. And we hear all the time the TV networks are crying lack of money. But then when someone comes available. It's funny how the money all the sudden becomes available. You know for these guys to to work something out and get but I tell you what is having the current guys. It really enhances it, you know, obviously from our point of view at NBC with Dale Earnhardt, jR is done. I mean, obviously with what? Jeff Burton has done and Jeff is really good. And then what what Dale has added to it. I mean, Jeff keeps up with it. So it's not like, you know, he's he stepped away just been a Jefferson, really good. Dale junior's been really good at adds a nice thing to it. And it's allowed our our people our booth to kind of change up some different things where we've had Rick Allen down on pit road for a race. Or we've split up the drivers. And with each other in the Rick with the with the crew chief was Stephen tart, it kind of gives you a lot of different options on how to present the race. And I think that's one of the things at least from our executives point of view that that we like to be able to do to kinda give the fans something a little different now when we come back. You're Raleigh auto parts pit reporters. Nascar had their award.
